Alice pulled herself into the bar stool, her first thought being ‘Damn I need a drink’ her second thought being ‘Damn I am bored’ and her third thought being, ‘Get the hell out of the way!’. Alice took in a quick drink from her glass, and ducked as the man threw a punch at her. For once this fight was not hers, and she was proud to say that at least. She stood up as she felt the wind from a bottle fly by her nose, with a shake of her head she rolled back her shoulders; she was going to walk away from this. Alice looked to the front door and with a breath she began to walk to the doors. This however did not turn out to be the best of plans. She was pushed back from her current standing position, and back on a table, “Darlin! All you had to do was ask!” She said with a smirk only to find out that said person was in fact a female. She gave the woman a friendly smile accompanied by a left hook. She stood up again and shook her head.
Now to back up a bit here.
Alice pulled herself into the bar stool, her first thought being, ‘Damn I need a drink’ her second thought being ‘Damn I am bored’ and her third being, “Damn! I am bored I need a drink!” She said aloud to the bartender. She arched a brow at the tender as he turned around and then made her a drink. She gave a triumphed smile and listened as the people around her spoke about this and that. Alice turned her head to look at the man sitting next to her who was talking something about a Nora, and then the man to her right who was jabbing on and on about something to do with a PSICOM revolt. She smirked at these ramblings that meant nothing to her. But for once she was free of the PSICOM hold thanks to Rygdea, and she had informed him about Cole’s trek out into the unknown and he had willing put forward her hand, knowing that a Lightning was going. Whoever this Lightning was, she must have something for Cole to invite her out on a trip into the unknown. But hell who was she to talk? He had did the same to her, after their meeting in that tavern.
Alice of course agreed to go, and help him. She did not exactly know what it was that she would be doing in all this, but she would find out. She wanted to know, but then again she did not want to know. Was this a fate thing? No she did not believe in fate. Destiny? No she did not believe in that either. She did not know about it. Alice shook her head thinking on this and took in a gulp from her glass as the tender gave it to her. She looked back to the man talking about PSICOM and as they continued to press on about their coming back. She shook her head “I don’t think so dove’.” She said with a nod of her head. The man then asked her why, “Well for one, they don’ have the guts’, two they aint’ enough of them, and three well I don’ see the potential any more’.” She said with a smirk. Alice nearly missed the cup that was now being chucked at her, she ducked and watched as it hit the man to her left upside the head. “Ahh crap.” She said as she then moved out of the way.
And back to the present.
Okay, so maybe Alice did start the fight but it was not intentional. She moved from the table only to be picked up by her collar by a rather burly man at that, she passed him a wink only to be thrown from the bars doors and right into a pedestrian, she hit the ground with a rather large thud, “Crap! I can’t even finish my own drink!” She said in a very not amused tone.

Cole had never realized how difficult it was to keep from looking like you were avoiding people when you were...avoiding people. It was an art he had never mastered, apparently. As he walked through the fairly busy streets, making damn sure no one bumped him on the arm as his sleeve-concealed brand, Cole was sure he looked as if he were both paranoid and possibly constipated. He was certainly the first. The second merely came from his attempt to keep his paranoia bottled up. Yes, maybe not everyone and their mother was out stalking the streets, searching for someone with a l'Cie brand to tar and feather, but Cole figured that the odds of someone recognizing him as a l'Cie went up with the number of people within five feet of him.
But as he formed a cocoon (no pun intended) around himself and wandered through the streets, Cole reminded himself that it was rather necessary to be out and amongst all these supposed l'Cie-haters. Why did Alice have to be perched in a bar for him to meet with her about the expedition he was planning? Why couldn't they meet somewhere nice, like the middle of an empty desert? Cole didn't have the answers to those questions. The case could be that Alice spent fifteen hours a day drinking and barfighting. He would not have been surprise if this had been the case, and that was precisely why he needed her on the expedition. He needed someone who understood the world on his level, someone who had kind of a crazy cleverness, and someone who could fight. Alice was all those things, as she had proven to him over the course of their first, highly eventful meeting.
Plus, she talked a lot more than Lightning, so she could keep Cole a little better entertained than the soldier.
But, yes, Cole's whole reason for leaving the safety of his temporary abode was to meet with Alice, fill her in on all the details, and find out a little more about the fellow she wanted to bring along. All mutually beneficial things so the expedition would chug along as smoothly as possible. There was a method to Cole's madness, even if it meant a potential slip-up when it came to the concealment of his brand would mean he'd be chased out into the jungle by angry citizens with pitchforks and lots of fire. Cole sincerely hoped such a slip-up could be avoided, but knowing his luck...
He approached the entrance to the bar, pushing the door open ever-so-slightly to peek his head in and make sure Alice was already inside before he went wandering in to be stared at by all the patrons. What he found had Alice written all over it - a small, fairly-well contained scuffle between a few drunk individuals - but no Alice. Cole stood in the doorway watching the chaos unfold for a few seconds until a woman came flying in his direction, propelled by some strong-armed man. Cole pushed the door shut and felt her thump against it a half a second later, which caused him to stumble back again. "Sorry, lady...better you than me today," he apologized under his breath as he backtracked away from the bar's entrance.
And, as most people do when walking backwards and not watching where they are going, Cole tripped over something and fell over it, landing with a thud on his back and narrowly avoiding hitting his head on the ground. After he got out a groan, his brain kicked into gear and his eyes darted to his brand, which was now half-concealed as his sleeve had flown up. He reached over and quickly pulled the sleeve back down, searching the crowd for anyone who had noticed. Thankfully, everyone was giving him a wide berth. With a breath of relief at possibly avoiding that disaster, Cole looked down towards his legs to see what they were now sprawled over....and found Alice lying there.
Oh.
"Alice....why are you lying in the middle of the street?"

Alice grunted as she hit the ground with a glare in her eye at the man that tossed her from the bar. She continued to sit there in awe as this action had clearly taken her by surprise. She pulled her arms up behind her leaning back. She looked to her left and then to her right even after being thrown into some stranger. She was about to stand back up only to be knocked back over again. Alice hit the ground again as the rage started to build up she felt legs that were not her own bearing down on her. She was about to laying into someone when she heard her name. She turned her head in a sharp motion, and her rage turned into a greeting, a smirk forming on her lips. “Oyi!” She said to him, she patted the inside of his thigh, “Thought ye’ were never comin’ around.” She said to him in a rather sarcastic manner of sorts. Even though this current position she was in was quite the picture she had hoped for, on the sidewalk was not a part of it. She slid out from under his legs and stood up, “And I was on the groun’ cause some bloke though’ it’d be hilarious to toss it meh out on tha street!” She said rather loudly so the bouncer was sure to hear her words.
She held out a hand for Cole to help him up. “But I guess’ tha’ this meetin’ place is now not such’ a brigh’ idea.” She said to him with a shake of her head. Alice continued on down the street as she looked back to Cole. She wondered how being an I’Cie was affecting him. She did not just want to come out and ask. She knew how people could be, and they were rather cruel, especially about things like that. Alice then opened up her pouch pulling the gil from it that she had gotten only days before. “Oh and here is this’.” She said to him with a smirk tossing it his way. “For wha’ever you might need or think we might need.” She said to him with a nod of her head. Thinking on how she had acquired it made a laugh form in her throat. Alice then gave a slight cough, she partly wished it was her instead of him. But what did she know about things like this, not that she was from around here or anything like that.
Alice then arched another brow at him, “And’ this, just in case’.” She said pulling the AMP Unit from her back pocket that she had gotten from the PSICOM that he had put a bullet in. “Meant to giv’ it to you tha’ last time we met.” She said tossing it his way as well. She did not know how good he was with magic but the unit would surely help. “But I do knowa’ place we can go, if you fear impendin’ doom.” She said hinting that the social scene was not good back at the bar. She could still hear the racket behind them. Alice gave a smirk, “Luckeh for you’ it’s not’ tha’ far away.” She told him in a ‘as a matter of fact’ voice. She then began to dig through her pockets while still walking, and finally after rummaging through what seemed like a life time of crap in her possession, she retrieved a single key. “Ahha! There you’ are’!” Alice said once she had claimed victory over her messy pouches. She gathered she would have to sort through them at some point; it was starting to feel just a tad heavy. And the vestment on her was also a junk collector as well. You could practically see odd things sticking out from the openings and may have even moved. Ok not moved per say but it may have moved when she walked, clearly she was a treasure collector and the smallest thing could be considered priceless.

"What, me? Arrive on time? Funny."
Cole alternated between rubbing the sore spot on his back and dusting himself off while Alice slid out from under him, and a thought occurred to him. Why did every aspect of his life seem to be falling into place like a hundred-piece puzzle set? Back before he'd been granted his charming tattoo, coincidences like tripping over the people he was searching for never happened. The recent days had been a little too....fateful for Cole's taste. It was all starting to disturb him a little bit, and not just because he kept thinking back to his run-in with Barthandelus and the fal'Cie's constant mention of destiny and fate and all that other crap Cole didn't believe in before and still didn't believe in now that he was branded. He made his own destiny, so screw the fates.
People apparently seemed to believe Alice was some kind of a javelin. They were always throwing her back and forth. He was absolutely...agape to hear she'd been thrown out of another bar. Complete and total shock, really. He squinted nervously at her raised voice. It was like she was calling the cattle...and people would be staring at her, which meant they would be staring at Cole, which meant the chances for him being recognized as a l'Cie would increase. Still, he couldn't hope to silence her without being obvious, so he just digressed and let her rant on. "...It probably was kind of hilarious," he commented, with a shrug, as the redhead helped him to his feet.
With no argument as to the relocation of their meeting, Cole continued with his paranoiac suspicion of everyone nearby before he realized Alice trying to hand him something. "What-" was all he got out before he realized something was flying through the air towards him, and he caught the gil against his stomach at the last possible second. Cole stared stupidly at the coins before he realized what they were and what they were for, even though he'd heard every word Alice said. "Oh! Thanks." Distracted or not, Cole knew every little bit of gil that could be gathered would help tremendously with the materials they needed for the exhibition. Cole had already made a list of equipment for scavenging and even that portion of the loadout would cost more than Cole could afford with the chump change he'd had on him when he'd first been portaled out of Ivalice. So..yeah...money was good in this situation.
Before he knew it, Alice was pushing something else his way. Cole was starting to think he'd forgotten his own birthday. He turned the strange little device over and over in his hands as if, by looking at it from fifteen different angles, he could suddenly discern what it was. All he could tell was that it looked like it was supposed to be strapped to his arm in some way, and so he placed it over his wrist as he walked to see if he was right. Yep. Would've strapped right underneath his wrist if he had any manner of hand-eye coordination when it came to attaching items to himself with one hand.
Cole was only a second or two from asking Alice what this strange little device was for when she spoke up first, mentioning that she "knew a place" where they could apparently hide out to talk over the expedition. "Lead on," Cole responded, before he was left to watch in utter confusion as she dug into one of her eleventy billion pockets, only to produce a single unimpressive key for all her effort. Still trying to get the little device object strapped to his arm (though he wondered why he would want it to be attached to his body without knowing what it was yet), Cole questioned Alice. "It is legal for us to go to this 'place you know'....right? Since you have the key and all..."

Alice laughed at his reply. “Well tha’ is vereh comfortin’.” She told him with a shake of her head Upon his next comment after she announced why it was that she was on the ground, “Ahh thank’s Comedian, fer your utterly amazin’ observation!” She told him with a smirk atop her face. Alice would then give him the gil to use as he saw fit for this little trip. She gave him a nod to his thanks and continued to walk down the street a ways, headed for the garage. She looked to Cole as he fidgeted with the armband giving a smirk again but she kept walking. “Of course it is legal!” She said to him reply as if she would not be guilty of such things, and his fidgeting was now making her nervous and that was when she could not take it anymore. She could not help but notice out of the corner of her eye at him with the armband, trying to overlook it. She finally stopped in the street turning and grabbed his arm, taking the band from his hands. She placed the key into the corner of her mouth as not to lose it again. “Really Cole. Please stop being so paranoid.” She said to him only to pull up his shirt sleeve just above where the brand stopped but she was kind enough to turn his arm inwards away from the street so he would not panic on her.
“And before ya ask why. Because it is makin’ me paranoid.” She said to him. Alice then slipped the band over his wrist covering a large portion of the brand. She then pulled his sleeve back down to just where the armband ended and it covered the rest of the brand. “See! Look at tha’! I’m good for somethin’.” She said to him as she turned his arm back over by his hand to where she could see the display, “The on button.” She said then pushing it in the top right corner of the device. “I’m sure ya can figure’ it out. Or do I haveta go and fetch a manual?” She remarked with a wink and suddenly dropping his hand, realizing she had been holding it for a just a moment too long. Alice then turned down a rather deserted street with the key still in the corner of her mouth. The garage that Alice was now standing in front of looked as if it had not been used in months. The sign at the top read, “Aya’s Garage : You break it! I’ll fix it!” Alice gave a small smirk as she then stepped up to the single door other than the garage door. She had not been here since Aya had been missing, probably VIA portal. She just did not feel right about it, even then. She did not like walking in un-announced and all that. She took the key from her mouth and placed it in the key hole slightly stalling before she turned it, she heard it click and then unlock the door slightly opening as if she was not expecting it too.
Alice looked back to Cole with a nod before finally stepping inside and was sure to close it behind him, locking it afterward again. It was indeed just the same as what it was when she had last came here. She looked around for a moment in the small lobby, there stood a front desk, along with a few chairs and a rather charming bell. She shook her head as she continued out another door and into the back, she suddenly became aware of the pictures hanging around the place, the hallway that they were in was covered in different pictures. Of mostly the tall blonde and people that she knew, there was also a lot of Alice in these pictures. Alice had forgotten about these said pictures, it was like she left a good happy life behind, but it was far from that. She continued down the hallway and into the kitchen area as if nothing was hanging there. But if he asked her, she would tell, no argument. Alice pulled off her vestment tossing it on the table along with the key. She also pulled off her belt pouch tossing it on the counter as she then heaved herself atop the counter, sitting on it. “And there ya hav’ it.” She said to him nodding to one of the two chairs around the table.

"I'm just sayin'," Cole retorted, finally glad he had some sort of way to amuse himself. And no, not only with his own comedic ingenuities. Hiding from most everyone in the world was a damn boring thing to do, as Cole had been finding out over the past few days. His schedule mostly consisted of reading those datapad things they had here, discovering new foods (some horrible) on the rare occasion he could get ahold of anything more than one of the sandwiches Lightning had left him with, and staring off into the middle distance. Actually conversing with someone was actually a pretty good relief, especially when he kind of sort of maybe thought this particular someone wouldn't go out of her way to get him killed by PSICOM. Well, she wouldn't intentionally go out of her way, at least, but having seen her way with people, she could have attracted every law authority within twenty miles just by saying the wrong thing to the wrong person.
“Of course it is legal!”
Cole huffed. "You know, I think I had a guy say those exact words to me one time...before I ended up in some rich jackass's basement for three weeks." As it turned out, checking to make sure the house you were breaking into didn't belong to the down guard captain was a pretty sound thing to do if a guy didn't want to end up having to spend his days watching maid girls dust the floor while he waited to pay the penance for his "crime against the state." It had been a benefit to the state when he'd finally dumped that guy in a hog sty and got the heck out of that little Archadian border town..but that had been a much younger Cole. Back then, he'd actually had some luck working for him.
And all of a damn sudden, while he kept fidgeting with the little arm device, Alice just stopped and grabbed him. Cole raised an eyebrow at her, wondering what horrors she was about to perform on the entirety of his being, before she nonchalantly pulled his shirt sleeve up to reveal his brand. He "Whoa!"'d in protest and started to pull away before she spoke. Okay, so he was paranoid. And okay, maybe he was making the whole world around him paranoid too. But didn't he have a good reason to be paranoid? It was better than strutting around to let the world see him in all of his monstrous, fal'Cie-branded glory, after all. He submitted to her trying to attach the device to his arm - reluctantly - however, his head up to make sure no one was watching too closely. And...well, it did do a good job covering the brand...kinda. But using it, aside from knowing how to turn it on as Alice showed him? Heck no, that wasn't going to be happening. "Let's put it this way...if I ever have to end up using it, I won't care who I end up fucking up anyway," he said, finding his tone too dark for even him to tolerate. "So long as it doesn't, ahhhh...end up shooting backwards and putting a big hole in my chest," he added, to save face. Not that someday it wouldn't come to him wanting to put himself out of his miser- yeah, that wasn't a good thought to be having, and definitely not a good thought to drop on someone who actually seemed to give a damn, like Lightning had. So that were two women who were willing to lend him a little assistance. He didn't know if he were the most handsome devil of all time or the most piteous.
After an awkward second or two, he was finally given his arm back, and stretched it out a couple of times to get a feel for the...whatever this thing was, imagining it was shooting lasers at a nearby house for no particular reason at all. That house actually turned out to be where Alice was headed, and he followed behind her as she approached the door, still swinging the device-laden arm awkwardly against his side. He peered up with mouth drooped open at the sign above the residence. "Huh, that's new. It's usually you break it, you buy it," he said aloud, though almost to himself, before he noticed that Alice had opened the door. Still trying to inspect the place, he tentatively stepped in past the redhead, letting his eyes adjust to being out of the sun before he started looking around a little bit.
There wasn't much to see in the front, but as Alice led the way further into the back Cole noticed a bunch of pictures hanging around here and there. Cole turned and, rather stupefied, stared up at a wall filled with them. Alice was in some of them, he instantly noticed, so she must have really known the person who lived here..and known her well...making him not quite as afraid that this was a home invasion. "The blond is pretty cute," he commented, needlessly, inspecting some of the unrecognizable people in the pictures. One man in particular seemed to be in quite a lot of pictures along with Alice. Seemed close by the look of it. Cole wondered what all that was about, but Alice's voice chiming in broke his train of thought, and he turned to see her sitting atop a counter in the next room. He started walking into the room, wistfully looking over his shoulder one last time at the pictures.
"So...this Aya person still exist? She...he...doesn't care if a wanted l'Cie is digging through their cabinets when they get home?"

Alice bore the smirk atop her face, “Well darlin’ first of all, I don’t think I have tha righ’ features. Second of all, would I lieh to you?” She asked with another smirk atop her face. Of course there was no reason for Alice to be lying to him, not that she would anyway. Alice had never been one for telling lies, because she knew that it only got her nowhere at all. If she wanted to get things done, the truth always hurts the most. She shook her head at him as he protested but at this point she was not going to take no for an answer, which only made her grip his wrist tighter as she attached the AMP unit to his wrist. “Just be sureh ya aint pointin’ it at me.” She said as she then continued to walk down the street after letting his wrist go.
After thinking what had happened to Aya, and all the memories that had came with it, she finally allowed herself and Cole to enter the house, not hearing his comment about breaking it then buying it. It made it even worse though as she walked down the hallway, all those pictures. She was sure that even Nathan was in some of them, and even then she did not look at them, she only continued to walk into the kitchen. Upon shedding her belt and vestment, and heaving herself atop the counter, with a shake of her head as he spoke about Aya. She leaned over opening up the refrigerator, and clearly she had done this before, because the odd angle was not giving her any issues at all. She retrieved from it two bottles, hopping off the counter again she placed herself in one of the chairs at the table. Alice placed one of the bottles at the other end another one of her smirks creeping across her face. She twisted the top off of her own taking in a drink from it, as if proving to him that it was not poison.
She thought on his question for a moment before speaking, “She is missing. I looked for her, but I am startin’ ta think tha’ she fell through one of those portals. But she did giv’ meh tha’.” Alice answered nodding to the key on the table. Before Aya went missing they were indeed close friends. “So no, I don’t think’ she will be mindin’.” Alice remarked again with a small smile, as if he had not even said the word I’Cie. She was by far a hater of the fal’Cie but those that were cursed with their marks had no choice. They had no say in what their focus was, or how long they had to complete it. All she knew at this point was that she was there for Cole. She took in another drink from the bottle. It had been a long time she had been here, in fact she would not be surprised if these beers were a little out of date, but that would not bother her at this point. All she wanted was to be left alone by the PSICOM and their scum of followers, and clearly that was not going to happen any time soon at all.
Alice reached below her and began to unbuckle her boot thou not taking them off. “So tell meh, where does tha Comedian hail from?” She asked as she sat back up and taking in another drink from the bottle. “Because you hav’ clearly gotten a dose of wha’ mah world is like.” She said nodding to his covered brand. She had in a way hoped that his own world had better hospitality than her own. He had been sucked from a world through a portal right on the big wigs welcome mat. She did not want to even imagine what that was like, but she would ponder it none the less. That was not her idea of hospitality at all, he had used his own power to brand a foreigner that had no clue at all. She had been tossed through a couple of portals between the time that they had last met and none of them had tossed her in the Fal’Cie living room, just waiting to be served tea and cookies. But she had an idea of how he was felling, wanting to keep the brand hidden and all that. It was not like everyone to just accept that at all, but what they did not understand was that you had to make do with the cards you were dealt with, even if the cards were complete and utter shit.

"...would I lieh to you?”
Cole shrugged. "You get thrown out of bars, you're willing to trap town guards in a net and you attack a bunch of soldiers without much of an explanation...so maybe." He wasn't exactly judging, since he would have pretty much done the same things in the same situations, but he didn't think Alice would take it as an insult anyway. Probably more like a complement, somehow.. But, in all honestly, he didn't like to think anyone would lie to him, but he'd been proven wrong on that too many times to believe it was really true. Alice was still kind of a stranger to him...they'd known each other what, about two hours total by now? She might have been helping him and it seemed like they would never have any problem getting along, yeah, but Cole needed a little more time to judge. Alice still had plenty of time to prove she was helping him for her own gain.
Then again, Cole had been wary of Light at first, too, and she'd been better help to him than the rest of Pulse and Cocoon put together. Alice might not have lived as much of a straight-edge life as the pinkette, but...in a weird way, the two seemed to only be on mirrored ends of the spectrum in Cole's view.
But in his situation, he had to go with the flow a little bit, even if the flow carried him into some stranger's household. At least this wasn't breaking and entering, unless the house's owner made a habit of taking happy pictures of home invaders. He couldn't stand around studying pictures all day, though, so as he trotted to join Alice, he just tucked the images into the back of his mind and decided to save them for later. His question about "Aya" hung for a moment as Alice dug into what looked like a really strange ice box, and Cole suspiciously regarded the bottle she placed nearby him on the table. Alcohol? Alcohol. Cole picked up the bottle and spun it in his hands a couple of times as Alice answered him. So another lucky one who had fallen through a portal... Cole considered she could have fallen into Ivalice...but Lightning had mentioned there was even more out there than Cocoon, Pulse, and Ivalice. So...good luck to her, wherever she was. Cole finally eased himself down into a chair and popped open his drink (with some effort), motioning it towards the hallway with the pictures before he took a tentative drink of it that wasn't half-bad. Just beer. "The two of you old friends?"
Brushing at some sort of stain on the table, Cole delayed telling about his homeworld for only a second, glancing at his brand as Alice motioned to it. She certainly didn't seem to want to say the word l'Cie at any point....that was probably a good thing. "A place where the god-beings aren't much better than the bastards you've got here," Cole answered, again remembering some of the shit he'd heard from a bunch of Dalmascans about the Occuria's stance during the near-war. At least they didn't brand people, though. He scratched at his neck. "It's called Ivalice. You know how you guys have all this fancy technology? We have airships. That's about all we can match you on. You'd probably find it boring." He took another swig of the beer. "But boring definitely beats the shit going on here...", he added, looking off into the distance for a few seconds before his gaze settled back on Alice, not too sure if he should ask her about her home. Call it a wild guess, but Cole assumed that a woman who seemed to bounce from bar to bar didn't have much to report about a home...
Of course, aside from the all-inclusive Ivalice, neither did Cole.

Alice gave him a shake of her head as she thought on his statement. Upon finishing thought she gave him a small laugh, “Aight’, I will or could indulge you with those answers if ya’ wish that upon yerself.” She told him though in her own mind she did not really get the hint that they were not questions. But that was okay. Alice was positive that a person in Cole’s shoes would want to know more about their host. But Alice was certainly far from a heavenly host, but she could offer up the basics. A warm bed, a roof, a semi cold meal and a beer. Hell even she would not complain to that, but for now she just let those answers be. It had been almost over a year since Aya had went missing and here she was keeping her abode all comfy as if she were going to show up any minute. Alice in turn gave him a nod, “Ya’ could say tha’. Though I am not all tha’ sure she liked sharin’ a place with meh. I am not the most well kept person in Pulse, if ya’ get mah meanin’.” Alice said to him with a small laugh. “But really, good woman Aya. Took meh in out of the cold, as long as I paid rent and I wasn’t even here tha’ much.” Alice told him taking in a drink from her bottle.
She turned her gaze back to Cole as he started to talk about his home world, “Ohh so they have traitor backstabbin’ government officials as well?” She said with a small smirk. Ivalice, interesting name. Though it was better than Cocoon or Pulse. Who would name a town in the sky after something a caterpillar went into…ok well she seen the reasons, but it was still ridiculous. “Well Etro likes to play with her mortal children, and have a good laugh, in her palace in the sky.” Alice said to him, and that statement was true. “And now that ya’ are in her domain, she can play all she wantsta’.” She brought the bottle up to her lips again taking im half of its contents in go around. “Ahh, well mah version of boring is clearly different than yours, Comedian. Ya’d be surprised.” She told him with a smirk.
And now back to his first statement. She was then thinking on how she was going to him that he was staying with convicted felon. Shocker. She took in the last swig of her beer sitting the empty bottle back atop the table, before long she knew that the table would be full of them, even without Cole’s bottles added to it. “Well personally I think that the PSICOM were just asking for it.” Alice said to him then standing up to retrieve another beer for herself. “But if you want to know the reason behind my action…..actions” She corrected herself with a pause and then sat back down again twisting the top off of her bottle. “They were lookin’ for meh. Tha’ bounty has ta’ be at least a thousan’ gil by now.” She said with a swig from her drink, playing with the cap. “They just couldn’ shake the fact that a youngin’ with no weapon trainin’ bested one of their own. Well more than’ one, and I am sure that that doesn’t help mah case at all.” She told him with a shake of her head as she finally looked up to him before speaking again. “So here is yer chance doll, no argument, you know where the door is.” She told him with a nod back down the hallway where they had came from. She was giving him a solid chance to leave if he wished. Weather the tide was rolling with her or not, but really, no she did not want him to leave.
If he were to look close enough at her as she spoke he would see that expression on her face. She however did consider Cole a friend, even if they had not been around each other all that much, but like always, she was one to get attached, and it happened so easy. She thought a long time ago that she had turned into a hard person, not letting anyone in after Aya had went missing, but even before that, with Nathaniel. It was hard to see herself in this position again, but she was not acting a part. With another swig from her bottle she did let a smirk creep upon her face after that short moment of seriousness. “Or you can hear a felon’s side of the storeh and at least see what she has ta' offer up.” Alice said to him with a charming wink his way. The choice however was ultimately his after all, she would not keep him if he did not want to be in the same room with a murderous Pulsian.

Cole curled his lip and nodded as Alice brought the character of this "Aya" lady into light. She sounded like a nice enough person...as long as you didn't screw her over or anything. Probably lost her patience pretty quickly...and yet, "As long as she doesn't come back and decide to haul my ass down to the PSICOM center for soon-to-be-dead l'Cie or try to strangle me in my sleep...then...yeah, sounds like we'd get along," Cole responded, staring off into space. "If I were her, I'd stay on the other side of that portal. Can't be any crappier than this place on the other side...no offense." Cole sincerely doubted Alice would take any offense, but nowadays he didn't need to go alienating the few people who wouldn't run right down the street and gather up a PSICOM firing squad to throw him in front of. Taking the time to make sure he didn't get on either Light's or Alice's bad sides was well worth the trouble. At the thought, Cole took in a big gulp of his beer, clearing his throat quietly as the alcohol burned its way down, raising his bottle up in a pathetic attempt at a toast. "To Aya," he said, absent-mindedly, forgetting to take another drink. Oh well, maybe it would toss some luck her way while she was out there in the rest of the universe. Let no fal'Cie cross her path like a manipulative little bitch and brand her.
Cole couldn't help but have Vayne come to mind when Alice mentioned Ivalice's government officials. He almost hated that man even more than Barty to this day...and that was saying something. At least fal'Cie weren't killing off family for power. They didn't seem particularly selective with the lives they ruined. "Kinda. Our traitor....backstabbing officials, or whatever you called them, weren't gods. Just jerks who became bigger jerks with a bunch of magical steroids." Thank the gods that Dalmasca and Archadia both had leaders who were sensible now. Cole knew a good bit about the queen, both from having been a Nabradian semi-royal and from the few months he'd spent helping out the Resistance. And then, the new Solidor didn't seem to have the same fondness for murder as the last...not that he had any family to kill off nowadays anyway.
But that was another story entirely from a completely different world, so Cole let it pass from his mind. He still didn't know all that much about this Etro diety aside from a few pictures he'd seen and a few exclamations of Etro this and Etro that around the town, but considering she seemed to just sit perched up there in the wherever and let her little underling god-beings (assumedly) run around screwing with the lives of the powerless people meant she probably didn't even deserve talking about. Cole chugged down more of his drink and shook his head at the mention of her. She wouldn't be getting any sort of toast. "Your definition of exciting is different, too," was all Cole committed to, in passing.
And, kind of as he had been expecting it to...an awkward conversation caught fire like someone had dropped a burning match right in the middle of the floor. Cole didn't even notice his drinking becoming faster as Alice spoke - basically telling him she had a bounty on her head courtesy of killing off a few members of PSICOM - and before long, he'd exhausted the contents, but still clung aimlessly to the bottle. He mostly had expected something along the lines of what she was telling him, but he fact that she was telling him and being so frank about it felt...sour to him. Wasn't it screwing up his chances to evade PSICOM by sitting in the same room with a person they obviously were dead-set on hunting down, considering a few of them had followed her through a portal? Or maybe she'd followed them through...even worse, if that was the case. Cole just averted his eyes as she continued on and finally made it clear this was his chance to leave if he didn't like what she was saying. He stared at the side of the beer bottle, pretending to read the labeling there. And here he was hoping she'd turn out to be a runaway nun or a disgraced lingerie model or something.
So he stood up, moving to the edge of the hallway and staring down it, the pictures in his peripheral vision. After roughly...oh, three seconds of standing there, Cole turned and moved back over towards the ice box thing and sticking his head in. "Sounds like I'm gonna need another beer." Along with the bottle he grabbed, Cole spotted a plate of some sort of leftover, chopped up meat sitting beside them. He could probably do Aya a service by eating it before it got really old and smelly. So he grabbed it and brought it back to the table with him, taking off the wrapping that covered it and stabbing into a little bit of the meat before he finally turned eyes on Alice again, not saying anything but making it clear he was ready...kinda...to listen to "her side of the story," as it were.

Alice gave a small smirk at his comment about Aya. “Well not’ that she would, but if it helps ya’ sleep better tonigh’, I would’nt let her.” She told him as she took in another drink from her bottle at hand. Of course that was assuming he felt comfortable sleeping under the same roof as her. She gave a small laugh, “I think’ I would too. And none takin’ darlin’.” She said with a shake of her head in turn. The more time she had started to spend with Cole, the more she had started to think of herself as a martyr. Alice had always believed in doing good, and doing the right thing, but sometimes it caused for doing outrageous things. But yet Alice had never believed in fate or destiny or anything of relation. She had always went her own way, so maybe martyr was not the word for her, but then again it could be the perfect word. Alice shook her head again at these thoughts as she looked back up a Cole as he did a toast to Aya, she mimicked him only taking the drink after, like how it was supposed to be done.
Upon hearing his explanation of his officials Alice gave him a arch of her brow, “Tha’ has to be a plus, them not being Gods I mean.” She told him with a small nod of her head as she took in one of the last drinks of her first beer. She gave him a smirk, “Magical steroids you say? Well can’t say I have tried it.” She told him with a reassuring look atop her face. “Lear’ somethin’ new every day.” Yet his explanation was clear to her, even with jerk as its every other word, she understood very clearly. Barthandelus was clearly off his rocker from the start, and only a few people had knew that form his start. Alice then continued to pull off her boots fully, kicking them to her left and under the table. This next part of the conversation was not going to be easy for her, but he should know, if anyone should know, it was Cole. After all she had offered up her help on this little journey of his, it could very well turn out to actually be a step in the right direction for the all mighty Gran Pulse. Alice had been here long enough to know that it was still not in as good of shape as people liked to think that it was.
Alice then started to say what little she had to say before she gave him the chance to up and leave. She however would not blame him if he did at all. It was hard not to come across someone who was wanted here in Cocoon. Alice was not keen on lying to people that she trusted, and she would not start now anyways. Of course if stretching the truth was considered lying, well then yes, she did that, a lot, but not today. After turning for another beer for herself, she continued. Of course pieces were left out, due to her giving him the chance to leave. Alice watched him closely as he sat there, even took in the last of his beer before he stood up and walked to the hallway. Alice did not anything to this action, again she would not blame him. She took in a rather large drink from her second beer, and to her surprise Cole had turned around to face her again, making his way back to the ice box. She let a smirk come across her face as he said that he needed another beer. Her smirk lingering long enough for him to retrieve leftovers and retake his seat across from her. At least her own cooking would not go to waste.
“See look at tha’, you are already makin’ yerself at home.” She told him with another smirk atop her face. She took in another drink of her beer wondering how to start this long story of how she came to be wanted by the elite PSICOM. Alice mulled over this for a long time, finally looking back up to Cole from her socks. “It did not occur to me at tha’ time that I could actually take down a PSICOM, I guess with enough adrenaline’ a person can do jus’ abou’ anythin’.” She said with a shake of her head. “He came at me, I am not at all sure what he was on, but it wasnt’ good, and I went up tha’ wall. Head-butted him with tha’ force of a behemoth. He fled mah apartment, and I chased after him, nothin’ but pure hate.” She told him, hoping he got the drift that he was not attacking her by means of his fits. She was sure that Cole did, he had a bright mind after all. “His head then met the right side of a rock, from there..” She said and then trailed off thinking about the picture for a moment and took in another drink from her beer. “I proceeded to bash his skull agains’ the asphalt.” She told him with a shake of her head, “And well lets’ just say tha’ he never got’ back up after tha’.” Alice then finished off ehr second beer. Alice could hold a grudge when she needed to, and this was clearly one of those grudges.

Cole couldn't help but huff out a laugh about his "magical steroids", even if it wasn't really a laughing matter. Vayne, however, was a special kind of scum - you had to regard him with equal parts disgust and laughter, because he was pretty damn pathetic in the grand scheme of things. "Oh, they're all the rage back home," Cole replied, trying to remember all that he'd heard about the effects of the whatever-thecite had had on Vayne and Vayne's scientists. He provided hand motions to go along with his description, pointing at different body parts. "Side effects include turning into an ape, being driven slowly but surely out of your mind, and eventually, death by rebels. Heck, maybe that's how Aya's spending her time these days. Hocking magical steroids. She might come back and choke out the whole town in their sleep." He couldn't be sure quite how far he could go with joking about Aya, but he figured Alice was in good enough humor and unconcerned as to whether or not Aya could handle herself not to mind.
But the amusement could not linger too long, especially now that Cole learned he was in the same room with a...someone who killed off soldiers and happened to have PSICOM dead on her heels. At least food was a good distraction from letting the idea of having PSICOM bash down the door at any second fill his mind. A silence passed between them, with the clink of their bottles and of the fork in Cole's plate being the only real sounds aside from the occasional rumble or raised voice outside. Yeah...that kind of silence wasn't exactly comfortable, especially with what Alice had just revealed to him. He only looked up long enough to inspect a bottle of red stuff that looked like that strange "ketchup" Lightning had introduced him to. He took the bottle and shook some over his food...silently. Cole didn't really have much else to say, even about "making himself at home", and took a drink of his beer to wash down the few bites of food he'd taken just as Alice started speaking again.
Once he sat the bottle down, he didn't really move another muscle aside from swallowing. Oh...so it was that kind of situation. Suddenly, Cole could understand...but as she went on to further explain the violence she'd unleashed, there was a moment when Cole was glad he had a weapon on him. But that was a completely unfair way to look at the situation, wasn't it? If Cole were in the same situation, he was pretty damn sure he would be moved to complete and total rage, as well. The way he'd deal with an assailant - with a bullet - didn't sound nearly as violent as what Alice was describing, but it achieved the same end, didn't it? The person would be dead at the end of it. Still...bashing someone's head against the asphalt until they died? Cole had bashed a lot of people in a bunch of different ways over the years, but for some reason, he couldn't imagine ever taking it so far. But then again, he'd never been placed in such a situation. If Leila was ever put in such a situation...Cole figured he would probably cut the guy's (or girl's, whatever) brains out and feed them to him.
...Yeah, this was getting too philosophical.
Cole spent a few more seconds with his head propped on his hands, simply staring at Alice. "Well...that's something." That was all he could think to say. He didn't like that he didn't have anything to say about it, but he was of two completely different opinions about Alice's story. His good sense screamed GET THE HECK OUT, COLE. His humanity countered with can anyone be blame for reacting that way to...that situation? So...Cole realized he was stumped. He grabbed at his beer and took another drink, hoping Alice could say something to advance the conversation so he wouldn't be left sitting there without a word.

The thought of Aya hocking magical steroids was actually amusing, by what he had described of it of course. As demented as she was, the thought of Aya turning into an ape made a slight laugh come from her throat as she took in another drink from her beer. She nodded her beer to him, “I am sure tha’ there are more brutal ways to go. Personally I’d like to go in mah sleep, less painful’ tha’ a way. Call me a coward.” She said to him. Alice leaned forward resting an elbow atop of the table. Her words of giving him a choice to leave would give her relief in days to come anyway. She did not want to him in a position that he did not want to be in after all. But as she finished off her story, now leaning back in her chair, resting against the ice box, it had struck the Comedian speechless. This was normal actions for most and it did not in anyway surprise her. She smirked and shook her head as his remark. “Ohh it be more than tha’.” She told him she said after finishing off her third beverage of the evening, and pulling another from the ice box. “It served as a three year grudge’, a bounty, a few deaths along’ tha way and spiffy new ways of getting clever with soliders’.” She said to him twisting the top off her beer and tossing it to the table with a flick of her thumb and middle finger.
Alice shook her head looking back up to Cole, “Ok, so maybeh death by bashing was a bit over tha top, but once it started the fire, I could’nt put it out.” She took in a drink from the beer, and she was starting to feel it now, so she thought it would be good to him the bright side while she still remembered it. “The Captain however, you have to thank for the bounteh’ not bein’ on mah head anymore.” She told him, this was the crucial reason from bringing him in, “Rygdea, the pilot I was tellin’ you about. I am pretteh sure he knows a good deal of tha’ land, in these parts anyway.” Alice then dropped the legs of the chair back to the ground with a thud as she stood up then reaching into her back pocket, retrieving a piece of paper and sliding it atop the table to him. “His contact information an’ how ta reach him if need be.” She said to him then taking her seat again. “He also mentioned he had a friend, Fang I think was her name, she knows writings and all tha’ stuff that normal people can’t understand’. Couse I am sure tha’ he said she was a capable fighter, point bein’ she’s a smart one.” Alice told him with another swig of her beer.
It was then when had realized that she had not even introduced herself properly at all, even in the fray of a bar full of angry patrons. She leaned across the table again, extending her hand to him, “Alice Jasper-Kerr.” She told him, and with that she also thought to herself that she had not introduced herself like that in a long time. She had taken the last name of a former fiance to beat all, Rainier. “But people also call meh, Hey you!, Bitch!, Get the hell out of my bar! and a most recent nickname, Pretty.” She said with a smirk atop her face of course referring to the brute in the bar whom she had smacked with a liquor bottle. It was then that she got thinking about what it was that she would be doing on this little trip to paradise, she arched a brow at him, “So wha’ does Alice’s role intel on this life changin’ trip?” And then she hoped that she did not have to give him a resume on all of her total failures, accomplishments, goals in life, important events and most importantly ‘What are your intentions to do with me once this is all said and done’ or more realistic, ‘What are your intentions to do with the information that we find while on this journey to help the hopeless L’Cie?’. Okay! that was all the beer talking now, but at least she was keeping it to herself, yet the smirk very seen on her face.

"I don't think about how I'm gonna go. It helps when you've got an entire military division and a few headhunters after your ass," Cole responded to Alice's "coward" comment, a little darkly. Well, it was the truth. Helped to keep your mind of getting blown to pieces, shot, impaled, or otherwise killed when you turned sticky situations into imagining the people trying to do such horrible things to you were all wearing their underwear on their head or something.
Oh, if only Cole could figure a way to turn what Alice had been explaining to him about her past into a far easier-to-deal with image in his mind. Nope...all he could do was imagine her smashing someone's skull multiple times into the ground. And it bothered him to no end. What bothered him worse was knowing he couldn't find a way to think worse of her for it. What happened happened..and that was the past. A past Cole hadn't been a part of. So what the heck could he do about it? Obviously she wasn't just some sort of mindless murderer or anything...judging by the pics on the wall, Alice's life hadn't been all murder and blood and misery and getting into barfights. Had Cole ever been that far from...well, maybe not from smashing someone's head into something, but from killing in rage? Probably not. But boy, did he wish he would never do such a thing unless he really, really had to. Alice was almost wearing the incident on her sleeve like it was a part of her and maybe even proud of her encounters with PSICOM. It bothered Cole enough that he almost couldn't swallow the mouth-full of food he'd awkwardly shoveled in.
Cole couldn't just beat around it since he was worried he'd get screwed over by Alice. He had to express his thoughts on this head-on. Still avoiding Alice's eyes, Cole spoke. "I'm not sure the 'captain' made the right decision," came his solemn expression. "But, hey, I don't think it's my business anyway. I appreciate you telling me before I go dragging you around half the planet to dig up some old bones, but the less we have to dwell on this kind of thing, the better, I say." Sometimes it was just better to avoid the problem altogether. Now...was probably a good time to do that, at least in Cole's opinion. The crime wasn't against Cole himself, and the crimes weren't for him to deal with. So he could only be a stick in the mud about it, and shit lot of good that would do. Unless Alice pushed it, Cole would ignore the heck out of the entire situation.
Cole nodded along with Alice as she mentioned the captain guy would be bringing along a friend by the name of Fang. Heck, if she knew her stuff and knew how to fight, so be it. People could bring as many friends as they wanted as long as they weren't complete morons or anything. Considering his list of accompaniment so far, sounded like there was plenty of brains between them all. "If he wants to bring her, then I have no reason to say no," Cole said, simply, and that was that.
And out of the complete and total blue, Alice decided it was time for an all-out introduction or something. Cole regarded her hand suspiciously...and with what those hands had done etched firmly in his mind...but finally took it and gave it a shake, finally looking at Alice. "Coulson Pike." Though his humor was mostly gone, he managed to quirk his eyebrows understandingly and smirk a little when she expressed what people called her. Yeah, he'd heard a few of those in the bar.
He shoveled in another bit of food and took a drink before answering Alice's question about her role on their expedition. Honestly, Cole had only asked her because as of right now she was among the grand total of two people he knew here on Gran Pulse, but he supposed he now knew she could really...handle herself. He shrugged. "Be creative. Sounds like it's something you're good at."

Alice let out a small sigh at his words and took in another drink from her beer. “Yah might just be right.” She replied, “Though I think the Captain did it more fer you than he did meh.” Alice said in all honesty. She then thought back on that for a moment as Rygdea had called the dogs off, but for how long she did not know at all. But again, Cole may have been very well right about that part. Alice was one of the many here on Pulse that was lucky to be alive, and not from the purge. She done what she did best, and that was not much at all. She stared down the hallway for a long moment as if the pictures on the walls were moving, with a very long drink from her bottle she turned to back to Cole blinking a few times, “I would haveta agree. Tha less dwellin’ the better.” She told him with a nod of her head, finishing of the last of what was in her bottle sitting the empty one atop the table along with the rest, by this time she had stopped counting. With a shake of her head as she turned for another beer. Her mind was telling her to stop but her heart was telling her Hell No!
“Well then, Coulson, mah pleasure.” She said upon hearing his name, with a twist of the top, she started to repeat performance again, flicking the top to the table. Alice leaned back in her chair as he explained what she was to do, “Tha’ is….very enlightenin’.” She said with a smirk atop her face. But she had thought that it was going to be something like that, she was luck he had not said, just stay the hell out of the way. Maybe taking a box of crayons for her to draw on the walls was a fantastic idea to keep herself occupied in all the serious business, but usually it was more like just being her annoying self and pissing off the others in the group. By this time Alice had realized that she had ran out of things to say, or it was the beer saying that in her head. She arched a brow rather awkwardly; she took in another drink and sat the bottle on the table. Getting up was now going to be a rather tedious chore. Per usual, she had stood up rather fast, even with the thoughts prior to losing her balance, she gripped at the table. Then as if making an excuse for herself she looked to Cole, “Be watchin’ out fer tha’ table leg.” She said pointing to him and with a pat on his back she walked past him.
One would call this a dangerous move while at least an eight pack in, in well she was not sure about the time frame. She blankly strutted her way over to a near-by closet opening up the door, pulling from it clean linen and tossed it on the couch behind her. Peering through a window it was past sun down, and she was sure when they had first crossed paths it was nearing dusk. Alice moved over to the far wall, almost sure that Cole was thinking she was going around in circles just randomly pulling crap out of closets. She peered up to the wall, now this was going to be a chore. She grabbed at a handle about an arm length above her and gave a tug, being in her current state and pulling just a wee bit too hard, her hand slipped and she took a slide of the floor behind her. “Success!” She said with a small laugh as she stood back up looking at the bed that was now pulled out. “Hope yah don’t mind sleepin’ on tha’ guest bed.” She said looking to Cole and then leaning over the couch to grab at the linen, she unfolded the bottom sheet by snapping it at one side, she reached forward attempting the impossible. Forgetting to lock the bed into place so that it would not fold back in ones sleep, the inevitable happened, and suddenly Alice nor the bed were in sight. “Son of a…” She trailed off as nearly her whole body was now in a very upside down vertical position. After what seemed like forever she had managed to get herself right side up, with great difficulty and a lot of non-pleasant words flowing from her mouth. Alice cleared her throat with no pride what so ever now, “Umm, Cole?” She questioned.
