Zack was left to laugh after Tifa when she said that it depended totally on how she felt at the time. She’d dove out of his arms before he could really say much on it though. Well shoot, no man could ask for more then what she had just told him. That given a certain mood, she would be willing to celebrate life. He grinned widely over that, while his eyes scanned under the water as if to try and find her. He really couldn’t ask for more than what she was. He would admit that growing up Zack had never really thought of settling for one woman until he was a lot older in life. There had been too many girls out there that he could flirt with, too many pretty women to get to fall for him. Perhaps his experiences as a SOLDIER and ShinRa had made him realize that life was precious though. Whatever it had been, Zack found that he would be a content old man if he was one with Tifa around.
She was enough woman for any man, more than enough. Took a lot for him to feel completely ready to settle for one. Even when he had been dating Aerith and he’d thought he had found ‘the one’, he had been slightly discontent, ready to flirt with other girls if the opportunity arose. He didn’t feel that now. Sure, he could notice other women, because if a beautiful woman walked by, he wasn’t going to not notice her, but as for wanting a woman, he had plenty to want with the one he had. Damn, he was getting old. Getting really old. What would his parents say if they could see him now? They’d probably be proud, because blast it all, they had been getting after him for years to start looking for a girl to settle down with. He hadn’t gone to a proper school to have a ‘high school sweetheart’, given that young boys that joined ShinRa had to continue to take classes as well as missions, but they had always hoped that he would find a girl to bring home. And now that he had one, they weren’t around to see it….(bwuaha or so he thinks.)
It was an odd moment to realize that you were really, thoroughly content in life. Standing there, his shoulders above the water, hair wet and sticking up in odd angles, the sun warming his body and the water around him warming as well, his girl having popped up from the water and walking toward shore. He got a bit dazed as he stood there, a hand halfway up to his face to rub the water away from his face and watched her walking out of the water. Why hadn’t Cloud made a move on this girl long before this? He would never understand his blonde friend, and would have to have a serious talk with him. From what he had determined, Cloud had slackened off from his feelings as a younger man, and so, though Zack wasn’t one to steal a friends girl, he had found himself powerless to defend himself against her. She was irresistible really. With that last thought, he pulled himself from his thoughts and waded toward shore to follow her.
Wading out, he heard her words and glanced over toward where the men had been playing volleyball. Though he didn’t like the thought of all those men slobbering over her, Zack also felt pride to be able to waltz up with such a beauty on his arm and express with his eyes that ‘damn guys, look at the girl I got.’ Besides, it would be fun to kick her but-…”Oh, teach me, eh? I’d be careful Teefs, I’m just about the best volleyball player you can imagine.” Winking at her, Zack stepped closer and swung her effortlessly into his arms, an arm under her knees and another supporting her back. “But if you want to try to beat me, go ahead, we’ll see who’s the champ.” While he talked, he walked over toward the group, who lifted their hands in greeting. “Yo Zack! Ya came back!” “ ‘An brought your girl!”, another chimed in. Allowing her to slide down until her feet touched the sand, he still kept a possessive arm wrapped lazily around her waist. “You guys need some players?” “Do we ever! You go an’ help them, we’d be happy to teach your girl the ropes.” Sure…sure they would. Grinning, Zack bent down and whispered in her ear a quick "Show ‘em what you got Babe,” and squeezed her waist before stepping out to go to the other side. “Of course you want the beautiful woman. What ever happened to bros first? Huh?” “It’s before hoe’s Zack, and we both know that’s a load of crap.” “Yeah, well you call her that and she’ll have you knocked unconscious. Just you watch,” he said cheerfully, striding to the front and winking over at Tifa.

Tifa hadn’t smiled so much in a long time. She found herself constantly grinning in the presence of Zack Fair. He was just…an all around optimistic person – for the most part – and Tifa enjoyed the optimism to join with hers. It was nice to be happy, and anytime he came around…she was happy, truly. This was another reason she found herself unable to be mad at him for dunking her into the water without a way to save herself, he was just silly, that’s what, and someone like Tifa…with everything they’d been through, the people she’d dealt with in her lifetime as well as the situations…she could go for a little silly right now. Silly was definitely what she was getting with this trip to Costa de Sol, between Zack and the ridiculous things you could do out here that simply stirred up a little friendly competition between the two, it was all going to be an enjoyable and well deserved vacation, anyone who said otherwise was just plain stupid and deserved a fist to the face.
Another thing Tifa had gained from Zack was a cheeky trait. She had been confident with herself, always ready to show up anyone who wanted to challenge her and her fists, but the all around cheeky way of thinking was simply new to her. Poking and egging him on to play some volleyball, she was ready to show that she could play volleyball, it was pretty simple wasn’t it? She was athletic and even thought it wasn’t something she had done on a regular basis, there was always a time to shine, hopefully today would be her time. What she wouldn’t give to make the other team – aside from Zack, maybe – to eat sand! That’s when she started sounding as confident as she was. Standing tall and proud, well…as tall as a five foot four girl could stand, she placed her hands on her waist and just grinned towards Zack, feeling the words she used had worked. It was simply laying a challenge at his feet now, if he didn’t want to play, that’d mean the challenge would be denied, an automatic win for her…but of course…there was no challenge Zack Fair would deny.
“I may not play as much as you, but I certainly could show you a thing or two!” she chimed almost in a sing-song voice as was easily swept off her feet, actually feeling pretty excited for a team match. Relaxing and watching as Zack was heading in the direction of the court that needed players, Tifa just continued to feel pretty good about herself, hoping to whatever god was out there to let her at least have a single moment. Something that showed anyone and everyone that she was out to win. Relationship aside, Tifa was definitely out to win. Being lowered to her feet upon their arrival towards the guys who had been playing, Tifa placed her hands on her hips again and watched the guys converse, feeling almost as if she should roll her eyes and shake her head, which is exactly what she did. Men were just so weird. Bros before hoes and all their other little quirks. A smile remained on her face though, having fun with anything they had said as it was.
They were going to show her the ropes? Feeling a squeeze of her waist, Tifa gave a small nod of understanding before whispering back. “I don’t think I’ll be the one needing help over here.” She admitted confidently before being released and watching Zack go to take his rightful place on the other team, the team against Tifa. Excellent. “You boys and your silly ‘bro code’.” She said shaking her head before a few of the teammates of hers wandered towards her, having a small team meeting before the game actually started. “We gotta beat the other team, havin’ this lovely lady along with us should definitely help. Looks as if she can hold her own, hm? And since we’re all gentlemen here, ladies first.” A volleyball was lightly tossed towards Tifa as the team dispersed to their positions on the court. Hmm, she would be serving, how lovely and gentleman like. There was a lot at stake here…sort of. Pride was among the few things she wanted to keep, and with that in mind, she stood firmly, tossing the ball up into the air before jumping up and slamming her hand into the volleyball, sending it flying over the net to the other side of the court.

Zack just grinned at her while he walked to the other side. He had no doubt that the men over there would be distracted by Tifa being there. Then again…he was fairly sure the men over on his side were going to be distracted too. Zack was more used to the beautiful woman he was dating, so he wasn’t quite so young man drooling about it. Instead, he could sit back and grin when he noticed the reactions of other men, and be amused by them. Even the ones that tried valiantly to keep themselves contained had to stare a little bit. What was so surprising to him was that Tifa didn’t seem vain in the slightest. Most women with looks like hers knew how beautiful they were and used it to their advantage at every turn. That, perhaps, was what added to her charm all the more. Well regardless, it was amusing to watch.
Trotting back to his side, he lifted his arm to return the bro fist that one guy raised to him. “You’re back! Awesome!”, they grinned out to him. Zack matched the grin with his own, before one man propped a hand up on his waist. “So why do we have you and not your girl? I’d rather look at her when I’m playing ba-“ “Oh keep it to yourself. Besides, they get to be distracted while we win.”, he said with a smile. They instantly agreed, before they talked a little bit about the game and Costa. Zack felt in his groove right at the moment, since…hell, he liked people, and they seemed to like him back for some reason. “How’d an ugly oaf like you get a girl like that anyway?” Zack laughed. “Hey! You trying to say I’m ugly? These looks were sculpted by the gods ya know.”
And then they noticed that Tifa had the ball. They all hurriedly set themselves, with Zack up in the front, looking entirely relaxed at the prospect of this game. Inclining his head toward one of his team mates, Zack cracked his neck and crouched a bit when the ball came flying over to their side. A perfect serve. The man behind him sent it up in the air toward him. “Zack!”, he called, while Zack went into action. From the extremely relaxed man he had been, to a ball of energy, he jumped lightly and palmed the ball in a spike. “Bam!”, he said with a grin. Let them get that! Returning back to the ground, he crouched down slightly, keeping an eye on the ball so that if the other team returned his spike, he’d be ready for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 616 Muse:; Great! This was going to be way too fun. Tifa felt pretty energetic, she was ready to get going, and with that thought in mind, that’s when she leaped and served the ball overhand. It was then she remained readied on the balls of her feet, her hands clasped together as she watched the ball soar over the net, a cheeky grin on her face as well. She really had been around Zack too much, or maybe it was just the spirit of the game! Yes, that had to be it. Anyways, Tifa watched, she listened, and she definitely heard the happy hoots and hollers from her team at her serve, they seemed to be pretty happy with how things were going, and there had just been one hit! “Nice serve there lady! Keep it up! We’ll make your boy toy there regret steppin’ up against us!” one of the men cheered, putting a small smirk on Tifa’s face.
Watching eagerly, Tifa watched the ball come back across the net. One of the guys on her team ran forward and went for the ball, putting his hands up and pressing his fingertips against the ball, pushing it back and towards the brunette. With her fists clasped together, she ducked down and felt her knee gently graze the sand as she swung underhanded at the volley ball, sending it up and over the net towards the other team again. “And another fantastic hit! Keep it up and he’ll be eating sand in no time.” A shake of her head and a roll of her eyes, Tifa just readied herself again, her eyes moving from the ball, to Zack, to the rest of the team members. Hopefully the game went well, in terms of…Tifa’s team getting lucky. She wasn’t sure she could face the rest of this vacation knowing she lost…he’d hold it over her head, she just knew it. That alone brought a smile to her face, perhaps she could use this moment as that payback she had been talking about? Oh yes, that would be mighty convenient, a chance to win and a chance to show him up. It was the perfect revenge.
“Hey Zack! Is this your grand idea of celebrating life?” she called with a smirky smile, placing her hands on her hips even though she was ready to move at a second’s notice. Anything she could do to throw a little distraction in there, and of course she’d turn her own words that had been turned against her…she threw them back at Zack, waiting to see if that bomb would drop, and hopefully it would.

Zack hadn't honestly thought that they would get his spike, so that was a surprise to him. He watched the arc of the ball, but because it was heading toward the back, all he did was prance on the balls of his feet a few seconds and propped his hands on his knees, waiting for the outcome. Though they weren't as agile as Tifa and he himself were, and didn't obviously have the stamina of a martial artist and SOLDIER, (I interject this with a Zack message to Tifa that he would like her to know that she can test out his stamina anytime she wants) they weren't too shabby in that department. It was obvious that they were beach guys, who probably played this and surfed and all that good jazz. So once more they got it covered. When the one bumped, Zack watched the progress, happy to see that his second partner out of three set it perfectly for him. And so Zack bounced up and tapped it over, going easier than he had with his previous spike.
"Yo Zack! Ya can't go easy on 'em!" Zack found himself grinning, unable to resist his next comment. "Hey man, get off my back, we've gotta go easy on the girl's team." Instantly there was a round of "Oooooh's" behind him, before one ran up to have a palm five, and a few manly 'whoop's'. Stupid boys? Probably, but that was what being young was all about. What fun could they have if not a few friendly disses? Zack just shook his head at the guys on the other team. He couldn't blame them, but damn were they trying hard. A man less confident in himself or his girl might be jealous. Zack was just amused. They really were trying too hard...really boys. Oh well, he sure wouldn't tell them to lay off unless they went too far or Tifa started to dislike it. He doubted they'd cross that invisible line of 'she's another bro's girl, leave her alone' anyway, and Tifa could probably terrify them more than he ever could.
Her next question was undoubtedly just to distract him. Zack started laughing, humor evident in his features, before he shook his head. "Believe me Mis. Lockhart, when we celebrate life there won't be any volleyball's, and there sure won't be a bunch of other men hanging around.", he shot back all too cheerfully. The men all grinned encouragingly, and he gave her that same little cocky smirk that crossed his lips so regularly. She had baited him, but he'd given her a comeback he sure meant. All of a sudden his mind wasn't entirely centered on volleyball. Darn her and her abilities to distract him...and here he'd thought he was used to her presence more than this. Obviously not.
