For a few more moments, Rosa stood there silently, watching the chaos that was ensuing around her, as if she was in some sort of fog. This couldn’t be happening. It just…but it was. Normally Rosa could rely on her husband to be the one to rally the troops and to take care of situations like these. Unfortunately, she didn’t have that luxury now. As much as the soldiers wished to see her leave so that they could be sure of their queens safety, Rosa knew that none of them were up to lead the army against these forces. She herself…wasn’t sure she was up to the task.
But now wasn’t the time for such foolish thoughts! Instead, Rosa rallied her own self. Almost instantly her chin lifted proudly, eyes sparking with determination. Whatever the situation, she was queen, and they would get through this. The messenger that had been sent to Mist would get there shortly, as she had seen the airship take off. He had, after all, taken the fastest ship, if not the lightest. He would be back within no time…hopefully accompanied by king Edge and queen Rydia. They were not only king and queen though, they were friends, comrades. Yes…they would come to her aid when she needed them now.
But until they came, Rosa was by herself to deal with this mess. Noticing that she still held the bloodied arrow in her hands, she quickly notched it, expert eyes taking in the chaos that was indeed spreading across the grounds. She could see the soldiers of hers dotting the land, each in some battle. They were well trained and resilient. They would be able to do their duty, but Rosa had to remind them of their stations and keep the order. In doing so, she would boost their courage. Or perhaps they would boost hers. Either way she looked at it, Rosa knew that they needed her now, as she needed them.
For a moment her eyes were drawn behind her to look at where she could make out the beast destroying parts of Baron. She would simply have to rely on the men that she had sent-…or did she. Rosa glanced at another ship her husband had, one the redwings had used. Yes…they would need more than simply men on the ground to defeat this. She could fly it herself, of course, but Rosa’s place was here at the castle, with her men. Holding her bow in her hand, Rosa started to sprint across the field. There was no time to lose here! While at a dead run, she lifted her weapon and pulled back her arrow, aiming for a split second at the cat like creature running directly toward her. Her arrow felled him instantly and she jerked it back out as she ran past, notching it yet again.
Within the shouts came a blood curdling scream. Skidding to a halt, Rosa noticed the soldier of hers, hardly any older than a boy, being attacked by a winged creature, which had him within its talon and was attempting to fly off with him. Without thinking, her bow once more came up, the same arrow notched. While the beast flapped its wings to get the momentum, Rosa aimed. The distance was great…but…deep intake of breath, a pause, and then she let the arrow fly, watching as it directly impacted with the skull. Instantly she had notched another arrow and was leaping over the carcasses of dead beasts to get to the boy, who had fallen to the ground, but the flying beast had fallen on top of him.
Finally she got to the boy. Skidding to a stop, Rosa slung her bow over her shoulder and knelt down beside the best, frantic with worry for the boy. He seemed to be alright, aside from completely dazed and lying with this beast draped over his lower half. The whimpering was what really got to the motherly instincts, and looking at his face, could tell that his age could hardly be above Ceodore’s. Why…he was simply a child. “Shhh, shhh,” she soothed, slicking back his hair while he looked up at her with a foggy look. Instantly Rosa tried to push on the flesh of the best, but it wouldn’t move. “Damn it!”, she bit out angrily, not caring if she used words that weren’t ladylike. A second later hands covered her shoulders and pulled her back. “I beg your par-“ Rosa stopped when she saw the two tall, muscular soldiers that immediately set out to remove the beast. How they did it, she would never know, but in a few moments they had the boy freed from his trap. While they spun around, swords up to defend their queen, Rosa dropped to one knee beside the boy, one hand grasping at his, which had her hand in a death grip, another settling over his chest. Nasty looking claw marks were visible on his skin. “Shh, you’ll be alright.”, she said once more, before her hand started to glow white. Almost instantly she could see the wounds begin to knit themselves back together. "Milady, there's so many of them..." Rosa stared down at the young man before her while she listened to the soldier behind her speak, eyebrows furrowed.
They couldn’t keep this up forever.
