“ACEEEE!! ACCEEEEEEEE? HEY, HEY, MOMMA’S BOY, WHERE’D YA GOOO??” Machina yelled down the street towards the school, a large bottle of champagne in one hand and wearing the strange attire possible: normal jeans on bottom, but his shirt and one of his shoes were missing, and he had somehow found a feather boa, a fabulous venetian mask and a trilby on the night’s adventures. Fortunately he was still some distance away from the school, so there was no worries of waking anyone up - yet - with his yelling, but that was frankly the last thing on Machina’s mind right now. He just wanted to know where Ace had gone, they were supposed to be going home! Ace had won over Deuce with those phone calls, right? Machina had not actually heard the messages, but he had been encouraging Ace all night, he knew his boy was onto a winner with that one. Where had he gone though!? It was like he had just disappeared into thin air? Oh! Machina laughed uproariously for almost a full minute, wiping tears away from his eyes, “I FORGOT YOU COULD TELEPORT!! SORRY!!” he shouted to... no-one. As a group of people passed on the other side of the street, Machina had to let them know as well, “MY BOY CAN TELEPORT, I FORGOT. IT’S THAT HILAAAAARIOUS!?” They all exchanged looks and walked a bit faster, until they turned the corner and were out of sight. After a moment, Machina set back off towards the school and immediately tripped over Ace, who had been lying passed out at his feet the entire time. Well, that would explain why he had disappeared then. Machina laid sprawled over him for several minutes, not entirely sure where he was and if this was his bed. Then he moved his head and his mask poked him in the side of the head and he remembered he had to move. “Okay! Okay! To bed! TO BED ACE!!” Struggling to his feet, Machina hooked his arm around Ace’s back and under his arm, then pulled Ace’s other arm across his neck so he could carry him successfully, then finally picked up his bottle of champagne again. The trip up the road to the school was long and littered by great rocks (small stones) and treacherous crevices (potholes). At one point Machina almost forgot that the river was crossed by a bridge, which came very close to ending in disaster. However, after some time, he made it to the school grounds, with Ace still hanging off him.
Now he was lost. He knew the door was somewhere around here, but where? “Ace? Ace? WAKE UP BUDDY,” he slapped Ace around the face twice, which woke him up pretty sharply, but then he immediately started to throw up into the hedge. Machina took a step back, disgruntled, “Urgh, don’t worry there, happens to everyone there, it’s okay there.” Too many ‘there’s in one sentence. Ace coughed chokingly, then threw up once more before sliding away from the bush on his ass, gasping. “Machinaaaa!” he complained, tears standing out in his eyes, as if this was his fault somehow. Which it was in a way, but not really. “Have a drink of water!” Machina suggested, patting Ace on the back, and casting a water spell as gently as he could. Ace was promptly drenched from the waist up, but he was able to gulp down some of it and wipe his face down. While he was doing that, Machina called Rem and left a message:
"Reeem, I think I got lost in the school. I'm near the hedge! You know that hedge? Not the other one, the one with the tree! Near the corner? The big corner. But not the biggest corner!"
He hoped she would call him back this time! After a few minutes, Machina stood up, wobbled, then picked Ace back up again, and properly tossed him over his bare shoulder. “I’ll get you home! Never leave a man behind!” Machina swore, staggering on through the night and hoping to all the gods that Ace was not planning to be sick again. Eventually - somehow - he made it up to the dorms without being caught red-handed (or at least, if they had been seen, they had not been confronted) and Machina set Ace down on the floor. Ace just sat there shaking. “Where’s the key?” Machina asked, but received no answer. “Ace?” Still nothing. “I’m gonna get to get it. I mean get to- got- eh?” Confused by his inability to speak, Machina stuck his hand in Ace’s jeans pocket and came up with a cellphone and money, but no key. The other pocket then. “If it makes this any better, I’m REALLY gonna try to have SEX after this. WITH A GIRL.” Machina told Ace in a carrying whisper, but the younger boy still was not doing much except lolling around and shivering. Machina finally found the key and opened the door to Ace and Trey’s dorm.
“TREY? ARE YOU HERE?” he yelled, then slapped his hand over his mouth with exaggerated concern, “Too loud!” he whispered, then gave himself a slap on the face. “OW!” Dragging Ace through to the bathroom, he hung his head over the bathtub and turned on the shower above. “YOU’LL BE ALL SOAPY AND CLEAN AND SOBER COME THE MORNING!!” Machina announced in a sing-song voice. Then walked out, as Ace retched again, but as least he wasn’t puking anymore. Machina found a few glasses and an empty pitcher for water in the corner of the room, they were standard for all the dorms, since students were perfectly entitled to want a drink of water in the night. Well, Ace needed quite a few drinks of water by the looks of it. Machina decided he himself just needed a few more drinks, period, so he filled up the pitcher with water from the shower, then finally cracked open his bottle of champagne. It had been a present for Rem, but she wouldn’t mind if he got a little head-start on her, would she? He’d save her some!
About 20 minutes later, Ace was really starting to sober up, since most of the alcohol he had drunk had now evacuated his body in one way or another. His eyes were actually focusing, although he was still shivering quite badly. “Thank you M-Machina, but I’m okay n-n-now. Please just g-go to bed and I’m gonna ...sleep.” Ace was clinging to his head with one hand and his stomach with the other, he looked quite ill. Machina was glad he didn’t look like that. Machina wobbled up to his feet, much of his champagne gone already, but enough left to call it a present for Rem. “OKAY!!” he yelled happily, as Ace groaned and hushed him. Machina practically bounded out of the room now that he had been dismissed, excited all over again to go see Rem. “Rem time! Rem!” he sang quietly under his breath as he skipped along the corridor. And then... dammit! He was lost again. Whipping his cellphone out of his pocket, he gave Rem one last call as he ran down the corridors, fleeing from what turned out to be Kurasame’s door and finally finding his way to where his princess was sleeping:
"Remninny, Remmy, Rem! Remember I asked you to marry me that one time? I DO!!" "Do yooou get it? D'ya? Because we should later!!" "So can I come up to your room? I think I'm here! The door says... 'KU-RA-SAM-Y' ............. Oh noooo....." "OKAY, NOW I AM OUTSIDE KING AND NINE.... noo.... EIGHT... noo... New corridor!! ARECIA.... No! WAIT I SEE YOU, I SEE YOU HA, I'LL BE THERE IN FOURTEEN SECONDS. I dressed up! And I have a surprise for you!"
Just before he knocked, Machina noticed a vase of roses sitting in the window at the end of the corridor. The girls’ corridor was fancy! He grabbed the biggest flower and stuck it between his teeth, of course jagging himself in the face with the thorns first. He raced back to the shut door and knocked loudly. Then, in that same carrying stage-whisper as before, he spoke through the door, “Rem! Rem! Rem! I wanna see you! Pretty face! Are you there? Gorgeoussss?” He waited a little moment for the door to open, then posed to show off all the finery he had gathered over the night. Then he finally fell over and sprawled across the feet of the person who had answered the door, spiking his tongue and cheek quite badly on the rose between his teeth. “I... just wanted to see... Remmmmmm,” he moaned, rolling over onto his back but keeping his eyes closed. Ouch.... WORDS; 1586 TAGGED; Rem! <3 (and Deuce?) MUSE; Fantabulous! Too late. Everyone should’ve been sleeping right about now, even the ones who had gone out to celebrate Trey’s birthday. But they weren’t. Oh no, no, no, Deuce and Rem were still very much awake at this hour. Deuce’s trembling body sat quietly on Rem’s bed, her cellphone shoved into her roommate’s hands. She couldn’t deal with this… she had stuff to do tomorrow, and she was tired, and she was confused and scared and all those other terrible things she couldn’t put into words right now. It had all started so innocent too! Ace had just texted her about having had a few drinks and going out to the club. Deuce had been happy for him and wished him a good time, because she wanted him to have a good time. They were all special to her, and she wanted her friends to have a night of fun for once. And you can bet your ass they had fun. It sounded like they had loads of fun! Sadly, their fun came at poor Deuce’s expense, who was really considering lessons in rudeness from Sice as her finger circled slowly over Rem’s covers. She should’ve just turned it off. Why oh why did she not turn her phone off after the second text? Because she was worried about Ace, that’s why. He sounded odd, and she didn’t want to miss a call if he ended up lost and scared somewhere. Stupid girl she was, she would’ve gone all the way out there to pick him up too. Everyone else was smart and muted their phones, so Deuce honestly believed herself to be his only hope in that scenario. That’s when the lewd messages had come, voicemails describing actions that could make Kazusa blush like a virgin, touched for the very first tiiime… and he said he wanted to do those things to her! To Deuce! She still wasn’t sure what to do or say. On the one hand, she was ever so grateful that Rem had woken up and listened to the voicemails with her… on the other, she couldn’t feel more embarrassed. Rem had heard every glorious detail of those messages and… oh Etro, why her? What had Deuce ever done to deserve this? At least Rem was nice and most likely wouldn’t go around spreading the word on Ace’s messages… if it had been anyone else, she’d probably be crying right about now.
“Rem…?” she whispered softly, not raising her head from her hands, “What do I do now…?” her hair was a mess, her eyes looked tired and her pajamas looked like crap after she’d nervously pulled at random string, nearly tearing a hole in her shirt. “I shouldn’t have replied,” she whimpered, again burying her face in her hands, “I should’ve just pretended it never happened… he was drunk, right? He didn’t mean a thing of what he said… right?” she gave Rem a sad puppy-eye look as she sought confirmation from her friend. This night really SUCKED! If she’d just ignored them, Ace would’ve probably forgotten about it in the morning, and she’d be the only one having to live with the shame and awkwardness… but she had replied (Though you couldn’t exactly call them replies, as she barely got a word out) and now Ace would hear them in the morning and ask about it and they’d be awkward around each other and AHHH--- Her phone went off again, and Deuce yelped, dropping herself onto her side and covering her head as though a bomb was about to go off. “Who is it? No wait! Don’t answer!” she pleaded, but then when Rem moved to answer the phone, curiosity (That fucking curiosity) got the better of her once again, and she pushed off the bed to listen to the message with her roommate. Oh thank Etro… it was Machina. Deuce sighed in relief and relaxed against the wall. Why Machina kept calling her when he wanted Rem? It was beyond her. After the first two messages, the girls had kind of just rolled with it. Machina called, Rem could feel embarrassed, Ace called and Deuce would have to face the shame. As she listened to the message, her eyes widened and flashed over towards Rem’s face to see her reaction. He asked her to marry him? WHAT?! That was… odd? Weren’t they too young to get married? It still wasn’t as bad as Ace’s message though, which she felt grateful for. No one should have to deal with something like that, least of all a nice girl like Rem.
“Rem…” she squeaked, as though she was one of those chicks in a horror flick who had just received a message that the killer was on his way. In a way, Deuce did feel like she’d been victimized multiple times this very night. No… that was a lie, because weird and disturbing though Ace’s messages might’ve been, Deuce hadn’t actually minded them as much as she should have. Sure, she was embarrassed, and flustered, and wouldn’t look Rem in the eye for a good twenty minutes, but somewhere deep down… she’d felt happy. Because even if the messages were perverted, at least Ace told her he liked her! These last few weeks, she’d felt so awkward about her feelings. Were they normal? Did Ace have any feelings for her whatsoever? How would he respond if she told him she liked him as more than just a friend or a brotherly figure? Well… now she knew. He’d toss her onto his bed and--- yep, there was the blushing again. Don’t think about it… just don’t think about it.
“I-I think it’s over…” she whispered, not sure why she was whispering considering no one was asleep in this room any more, but whatever! Deuce was confused! The knock on the door had her jump up in shock as she threw her arms around Rem and stared at the door like a deer stared into headlights right before he became road kill. “D-Don’t answer!” she squeaked again. ”Don’t answer while I’m here, please!” she wasn’t sure if her already fragile mind could handle it if Machina threw himself at Rem the second he entered the room. Etro, please no… When Rem stood up however, Deuce found herself getting to her feet as well, grasping Rem’s arm as they walked to the door together. When they reached the door, Deuce just slowly shook her head once more in a feeble attempt to make Rem forget about opening the door and just go back to bed. She knew it was an irrational hope though. Machina had a goal, and he wasn’t going to leave until he had completed that goal… in all its horrid detail. Squeezing Rem’s arm harder, she braced herself for another trauma.

[/IMG] This is not what Rem had expected for the evening. She figured that the boys would go out and have a nice time celebrating Trey's birthday and the ladies could just do what they want, get to bed at a reasonable time and then go on with the next day. This was nothing like what imagined. Had the boys really not had any better judgment? Rem couldn't exactly figure out what to say as she sat on her bed, cuddled up in her blankets as she held onto Deuce's cell phone. Her face was written with shock as she listened to every word being spilled from Ace. It instantly made Rem realize that the men had been drinking, but had all of them taken part in this somewhat stupid act? She was sure that people like King or Ace wouldn't have partaken in these things, but from the words that were coming out of Ace's mouth…she began to think differently. She wondered exactly what had happened, who had what, and if all the boys were safe. She would've expressed her concern to Deuce but right now they both pretty much just sat there, dumbfounded and unable to comprehend what was going on – at least that was Rem's case. Rem wasn't going to tell anyone, Deuce was too nice for that sort of horror story to run around the school, and besides, they were good friends, and especially since they shared a dorm, Rem didn't exactly want the cold shoulder from the younger student for the rest of her life. She wouldn't even tell Machina, unless he already knew.
With Deuce speaking so softly, Rem blinked as she stared down at the phone, still unable to find the words before she looked at her roommate. Poor Deuce, she looked so wrecked. Tired and not knowing what to do after she'd gotten those messages, and hey, who could blame her? Rem would've been blushing redder than a rose bush if someone left those kinds of messages on her phone. She would be in the exact same mental state as Deuce, and well…what more could the young mage do? She had to try and help her friend out, comfort her, and get past this awkward moment of…awkwardness. "I…am not really sure Deuce." She spoke honestly, Rem was so bad at lying so being honest and straightforward was the only way to go right now. She didn't have a single drop of advice for Deuce and was pretty sure she wouldn't come up with any for awhile, but a few comforting words would help right? "He sounded very…unlike himself. Maybe if you look at it from a different perspective it'll be a bit easier to understand? Aren't the words a drunk man says usually what a sober man is thinking? Put that together in simple terms and…I think Ace is quite smitten with you." She said smiling sheepishly as she patted Deuce's shoulder and tried to be as comforting as possible without feeding the girl lies.
Soon the phone rang again, just as Rem was trying to be a comforting friend. Oh no. If it was Ace again, Rem was just going to chuck the cell phone out the window or something to spare the poor girl beside her the rest of her sanity. But glancing at the caller I.D. it wasn't Ace, but Machina. Being a little late on the call there was a message left from him but the weird part was that it was addressed to Rem. Why hadn't he called her phone? Moving slightly, Rem reached over to the table next to her bed and checked her phone. Not a call or a text. How odd. First, they'd just not really paid any attention, but as the messages from him kept coming to Deuce's phone, Rem groaned a bit as she pressed a hand to her forehead and finally just ran her hand through her hair. Machina was drunk too. But at least he wasn't being quite as expressive with the things he was saying as Ace had been. The next message came and Rem's eyes opened wide as she stared down at the phone. She'd remembered him asking her that, she'd poked a little fun at him before and pretended to be offended when he said he 'didn't recall' that ever happening and now…what an overwhelming evening. HE WAS COMING HERE? NOW? Dropping the phone flat on the bed, Rem leaned back and fell back onto her pillow, staring at the ceiling, wondering what it was she should do when a drunken Machina ended up on her doorstep.
Hearing Deuce again, Rem just wanted to roll over and press her face into the pillow and go back to sleep, imagining this all as some weird dream that would soon be over once her alarm went blaring off the next morning, but alas, this was reality and that certainly disappointed her. "Deuce, it'll all be okay…" she assured the girl before the knocking was heard at the door, and that startled the red eyed girl even though she knew from messages that Machina was on his way here…dressed up with a surprise for her. Sitting up quickly as Deuce had thrown her arms around Rem, she could only imagine what she was going to see. Trying to put her thoughts into the mind of a drunken man…what sort of surprise should she be expecting? Hopefully he didn't maul her or anything…then again, it could be much worse than that, especially when Rem began to put her imagination into it all as she slowly slid herself off her bed, moving the comforter and blankets out of the way, as well as Deuce, sliding on a pair of slippers as she did so. Everything was going to be fine! Rem wouldn't let the big bad drunken boys harm her any more. "Deuce, it'll be okay, I promise. We'll take this one step at a time." She said as she wandered slowly to the doorway, hearing Machina from the other side and also feeling Deuce cling to her arm again. To be quite honest, Rem was happy that Deuce was here, not having to face the opening of the door by herself not knowing what to expect, especially with this surprise she was supposedly getting. As she reached for the doorknob, Rem then hesitated before pulling at her pj's a bit, making sure they weren't riding up or anything, and that's when she finally opened the door and braced herself.
Gazing at the floor, red eyes just widened as Machina laid there, sprawled out at her feet and looking…quite ridiculous, but then again, she wasn't going to judge just ye- WHERE WAS HIS SHIRT?! Taking a closer look at the…interesting ensemble he had on, Rem found so many things wrong with it. For one, there was a lack of a shirt, he was missing a shoe, wearing some dark hat, a feather boa, and he had a rose in his mouth. Well, that certainly wasn't something you saw every day now was it? Carefully slipping Deuce's grip from her arm, Rem then kneeled down and hovered over Machina for a moment before gazing back up at her roommate. "At least this will make for a good story many years down the road?" After that little trying-to-be-cheerful-comment, Rem placed a hand on Machina's shoulder and shook his lightly. "Machina, you've been drinking haven't you?" That wasn't even a question at this point, more of a fact. Sighing, she looked back up at Deuce. "I can't just leave him sprawled out here, someone might notice him and that wouldn't be good. I'm bringing him in…if push comes to shove, I'll take him back to his dorm." She said still hovering over Machina almost protectively, making sure he was alright. This was going to be a looooooong night. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1475 Muse: Great! Rem! This was who he had been looking for all evening! Or at least the last hour or so of his evening, but Machina could not really remember the first part right now. Her first question made him look guilt, and actually quite adorable, as he didn't want to get in trouble. On the other hand he did not want to lie to her even now, so he searched his tiny, alcohol-soaked brain for an appropriate excuse, "Trey! It was Trey's birthday! So I had to drink. To Trey!" He lifted an imaginary glass for this last cheer, fortunately a much quieter version of the toast they had been delivering to the birthday boy with every round, along with compliments that became more extravagant as the night went on. "But I don't know where birthday boy is now." Machina glanced around, like he actually expected Trey to be with him in the corridor, "I only brought Ace home, but I did that! Didn't I do well Rem? Wasn't I a good brother?" At this point Machina made a first attempt to sit up again, but it failed and he lolled back onto the floor, still outside their door.
He patted Rem's feet, which was the only bit of her he could reach right now, "Hey Rem, I got you a present, here, take it," he offered her the rose with a beaming grin, ignoring the fact that the right side of his lip was slightly bleeding where he had managed to spike it with a rose thorn. "It's a presenent- a present! I told you it's a SURPRISE!" He practically yelled the last word, which burst from his lips with joy, but even he realised it was too loud. "I'm goin' to wake people up!" he whispered loudly, with a horrified looking expression. "It's okaaay, if someone hears, I'll give them the champagne!" Now a conflicted expression ran across his face, "But the champagne was a present for you too Rem. I wanted to get you more presents, but I couldn't find anywhere! They threw me out the shop! The shop! You know the shop? The one with the tuuuuuba." What shop with a 'tuba' he might mean, there was no real clue, certainly none of the places he had actually been matched his description. "No, Rem! Nobody will take your presents or your champagne! I'll defend your rose! Haha! With my life!" His expression darkened, as he pictured thieves and soldiers in his mind's eye who might want to hurt Rem somehow or take her things, "I'll protect you too Rem! I'll always be strong enough to protect you, I promise." Somewhere underneath his drunken stupor Machina's mind reeled back from that promise, as of it was something he had said before and forgotten about a long time ago. However, on the surface where his thoughts had to fight to break through the alcohol-barrier, this one did not and so he did not really register the feeling.
He looked up at Rem from the floor, with wide, innocent eyes as she crouched down beside him. The angle made it extremely lucky she was not in her school uniform with that short skirt... Oh those were dangerous thoughts for Machina to be having. His face broke into a calm smile and he held up seven fingers, "I had thirty-two different kinds of drinks tonight Rem. They were yumminy!" He gave out a high-pitched giggle for a while, for no real reason, then covered his eyes with his hand dramatically, "But I lost! Ace bested me in this game of drinking!" He had put on a posh accent now, "Bested! By the momma's boy! But one-th think-th that he... regreth it now!" he laughed, covering his mouth with his fist and retuning to his normal (though slightly slurred) speech, "I dragged him up here, he ain't heavyyy. But he's sickkkk." Machina pulled a face, as if Ace had crossed some social line tonight that he himself had not, rather than just being a bit unlucky and having a lower tolerance for alcohol than Machina did. "I'm not sick Rem, I'm just fine, I'm juuuust fine. Are you fine? You are fine. You're a fine girl!"
Finally, he actually realised there was another person in the room as well, instead of only having eyes for Rem. "Hello Deuce! Deuce, Deuce. That's like the number two too! Hahaa, tutu, you should get one, then you be number two too who goes to tutu too... Haahaha," he looked back up at Rem wide-eyed, his pupils slightly too big to be sober. "Rem, is it late? We had a little party! A party party! Was funnn." Machina sat up for the first time since he he had fallen at the girls' feet and his trilby fell off and rolled away across the floor into the girls' room, so he set off after it in the manner of an epic explorer. "Hat! Come 'ere hat!" He started humming the Indiana Jones theme as he followed it several feet across the floor on his hands and knees, with very little coordination. Capturing it triumphantly, he adjusted his fancy mask and returned the hat to his head. Success! This was the greatest night ever! He turned back around to the ladies, still on all fours like a cat, "And what are two beautiful ladies like yourselves doing up? There wasn't a party here that you didn't tell us about, waaaas there? You should be sleeeeeeeeping." The thought that he was the thing keeping them up (although Ace was also highly to blame) did not strike his mind. He hauled himself up into a slouched seating position against the wall and pulled off his ridiculous feather boa and tossed it aside, because it was scratching his neck too much. Much better! He pulled off the mask as well, then kicked off his one remaining shoe, so that all he had remaining was the hat and his pants. Which, fortunately, he had no plans to take off just yet.
For a minute he sat there, staring into space and completely blanked out from what was happening around him. This was his planning time, although it was probably slightly worrying to the girls as he sat staring and nothing and not responding to anything except with odd muttered phrases that did not make any sense and were completely unrelated to anything going on around him. After a couple of minutes he snapped back out of it. Holding his hands out, he called out to Rem again, "Remmm." Machina very much wanted her to come over and sit with him so he could stroke her hair, but that was probably unlikely when he smelt strongly of alcohol and was so drunk. "Remmm," he moaned, "Come sit here, it's lovely here. We can cuddle, girls like cuddling I think, I think," his eyelids drooped, but unfortunately for the girls he was not ready to sleep just yet. Machina was desperately trying to think of what he could say that would make him sound attractive. In the end he just blurted out all the words that came to mind, with his face slightly screwed up with embarrassment, "Rem! So pretty and funny and prettier! Please- I'm in- I think about you all the time! You're really... really smart! And I just want a hug. Don't leave me here loooonely," he jerked his arms slightly for emphasis as he held them out to her, "Pleeeeeeeease. I just came here to see youuu!!" WORDS; 1343 TAGGED; Rem & Deuce MUSE; Great! At least he hadn’t thrown himself at her like Deuce had thought he would… how awkward would that have been? Especially since Deuce was right there holding Rem’s arm. Thank heavens for small favors. Maybe Ace wasn’t so bad after all… at least he hadn’t dragged himself here to do whatever it was he had planned for the night that would never get discussed outside of this very dorm room ever. That made her think though… she hadn’t received any disturbing texts or voicemails in a while, and he wasn’t here to make good on his colorful promises either. Had Nine gotten to him and thrown him off a bridge or something? She thought she’d heard Nine’s name being mentioned in one of the voicemails, but she really couldn’t be sure. By that point, all the blood in her body had flooded up to her ears and she hadn’t been able to think straight for a good five minutes. Had he fallen asleep somewhere? But… where? The concern she felt for Machina’s wellbeing soon became overshadowed with worry over Ace. She hoped he was alright. Maybe one of the guys would bring him home later, or maybe he and Trey had already made it back? Please let it be so. Machina was still talking, and bleeding from the corner of his mouth… and… this was all just too weird to make sense. Not just Machina, but this entire evening. She’d expected them to get drunk, maybe she even expected some drunk voicemails but this? One guy stumbling over into their dorm looking like a fabulously cheap prostitute and the other reciting a porn movie to her via his cellphone? Who knew what the rest was up to? Deuce sensed something very awkward was going to happen in the very near future, and wanted nothing more than to flee. But where would she go? And could she honestly leave Rem by herself? Who knew what Machina would do if he was here with Rem alone? Rem hadn’t abandoned her in her time of need, so she should return the favor, right? On the other hand, he sounded really sweet with his talk of defending Rem’s rose. She sincerely prayed he was talking about the actual rose and not… something else. Oh great, Ace’s messages had her looking for perversion everywhere now. Thank you Ace, thank you very much.
Shifting awkwardly as Machina rambled on and on about how amazing Rem was, she tuned in just in time to hear him mention something about Ace. And he was sick? Darn it, she knew something like this would happen! These guys obviously couldn’t go out and have fun without a baby-sitter to tell them ‘no’ after the third bottle of whatever they’d downed in that club. She hoped they’d get sick in the morning so they’d unlearn this ridiculous behavior, but what were the chances of that happening? And if she were perfectly honest, she didn’t really want them sick… just asleep, and not this drunk the next time they went out. Maybe next time she really would take a few pointers from Sice and just shut her damn phone off. At least then she’d get a few hours worth of sleep before everything went downhill. “Where did you leave Ace, Machina?” she asked slowly, trying not to use big words in case the poor sod couldn’t wrap his intoxicated mind around what she was asking of him. Of course, it wasn’t a very complicated question but-- And lo and behold, even the simple sentence seemed too complicated to him right now as he instead began to make lame word jokes about her name. Had he even heard her question? Or had he been too busy trying to sneak a peek up Rem’s shorts? Yeah, Deuce had seen that one buddy. She supposed he really couldn’t help it… he’d be punished enough for his stupidity tomorrow morning, or considering the time, in a few hours. They’d all feel the burn. “Um… yeah, sure… I’ll get a tutu sometime, now can you tell me where—“ and away he was after his hat, and Deuce looked down at Rem with a confused expression. The poor girl really had her night cut out for her, didn’t she? First she had to deal with Deuce’s phone going off every two minutes, keeping her up for hours. Then she got to enjoy Ace’s very descriptive sexual fantasies, and now she had to deal with an intoxicated Machina
When he caught his hat and rambled about a girl party, Deuce decided she’d had enough crap for one night and hurried over towards him. For once her height was an advantage as it allowed her to stay on her feet and more importantly, keep her face far away from his alcohol breath as she grasprf the sides of his head to keep him from moving away and again repeating her question as slowly and as clearly as possible; “Where did you leave Ace?” Dammit, she didn’t have time for this! Considering the state Machina was in, she really couldn’t trust that he had brought Ace back to his dorm. He might’ve tried, sure, but in his hazy mind it was highly likely that he’d mistaken some random bush somewhere in the city for a room and dumped him there, covering him with a few leafs that served as blankets or whatever. …no. Surely he wasn’t that far gone? Still… she had to check. Wherever Ace was right now, she had to make sure he was alright. She wouldn’t be able to catch any sleep tonight anyway, not with Machina in the room with them. And she wasn’t going to disturb Seven and Sice either by asking them to let her sleep there. It was nearly morning by now, so she’d just have to pull an all-nighter and reschedule the appointment she’d made for tomorrow morning or uh… ‘the one that was only a few hours away by now’ was probably more accurate. As soon as he’d answered, she let go of him and looked back over to Rem with a conflicted look flashing past her eyes. She wanted to go and help Ace… but what about Rem? Would she be alright on her own? Rem was tough, sure, but still… “Rem… will you be okay?” she asked right before one of Machina’s shoes flew by her ankles. With another concerned look, she awaited Rem’s answer. If she wanted her to stay, she’d stay. Somehow though, she figured Rem would be alright with her leaving to help out Ace. If their roles had been reversed, Deuce wouldn’t have kept Rem here either, and would’ve told her to go help her boyfriend. “Good luck.”

[/IMG] Oh boy…well this was going to be a night Rem would never forget, but she was pretty sure it'd be a night that 99% of the guys drinking would forget. For their sake she sure hoped so. Shaking her head slightly and looking down at Machina, that look on his face that reminded her of him when he was little boy, not wanting to get into trouble…how could she even think about getting upset with that face around? Quietly sighing and listening to his justification as to why he had been drinking, Rem was just trying to figure out what to do here. She was a bit slower this evening, being so tired and especially after hearing all those voicemails Deuce had gotten from Ace. That was enough to scar one's mind for awhile. 'I'm sure Trey had a grand ol' time.' She thought to herself, cracking a tiny smile onto her face as she continued to look down at Machina and all his drunken cuteness. "You got Ace home?" Well that was two guys Rem didn't have to worry about then. What of the rest of them? From the birthday boy to King, were they all okay? "Yes yes, you did very well Machina, you're a great brother." Patience, that was the key to handling all of this. Rem surely had enough of those on hand, but what about Deuce? Hadn't she already been scarred enough tonight?
People did silly things when they were drunk, Machina was a prime example of this. Looking down at the rose that had pricked him on the side of the mouth, and anything to keep him quiet and happy, Rem took the rose and held it loosely, careful not to clasp her hand or fingers around the thorns. "Thank you, it's very pretty, shhhh." She said pressing a finger up to her lips to signal that he needed to be quiet, which hey, at three in the morning hell yeah he needed to be quiet, but the best way to help him out was just get him out of the hallway. Rem didn't want to drag him in, besides…he was just…there were no words to describe this moment really. Champagne? Oh this really was going to be a long night, especially if Machina still had some form of alcohol on him. "No one will take my presents, Machina. I trust you to protect them and myself." Although this was slightly risky, being caught with a drunken student in the hallway, Rem found this quite amusing after away, almost wanting to just hug him because even when he wasn't sober, he was still claiming to protect her, and she continued to have faith in that statement.
Kneeling down by Machina now, Rem shook her head and looked back up at Deuce. "I'm sure Ace would be at his dorm…might…check there first." She said a bit hesitantly at the end of her statement to Deuce, not really knowing if Machina had the right state of mind to even get someone aside from himself back to the academy somewhat safely. All she could do was hope he could do that much. He really didn't stop talking did he? Just constant babbling, but it was information. Ace had bested him in drinking? Well who would've thought that was possible, little Ace. Oh well, it seemed like Ace was in pretty bad condition by the way Machina dramatically spoke in different tones than Rem was used to. They were all going to feel this one in the morning, maybe they weren't sick now, but soon enough a pounding headache and a sickly stomachache was going to occur, Rem was completely sure of that one. "I'm glad you're not sick Machina-" at least yet. And then he began to speak to Deuce, which made Rem look up at the brunette with sort of a confused look in her eyes, as if she were asking the younger girl what to do at this moment. At least Ace hadn't come to their dorm or anything, this was just complex. Too complex for even a mature girl like Rem Tokimiya.
Rem was about to join in with Deuce and ask where Machina had dumped Ace off at, but then after talking about Deuce's name and tutus, he moved and crawled into their room, causing Rem to quickly stand up straight and move away from the doorway as he hummed along some epic tune, crawling towards that hat. It was so amusing, so cute, yet so…obnoxious in a way and once they were all inside the dorm room, Rem quickly shut the door behind her to help drown out the noise that Machina could possibly make if he decided to yell again or not. This was one of those moments were Rem just couldn't predict what he was going to do, it was almost scary. Chuckling sheepishly and slowly, Rem still held onto the rose Machina had given her while she took her free hand and held it up towards her bangs and moved them away from her face. "No, no party here, just…we're awake now. You should be asleep too." Sooner or later he'd have to fall asleep, and until he did, whenever that was, Rem would probably be watching over him just to make sure he didn't try to wake anyone else up or hurt himself.
Shooting a glance at Deuce, Rem thought for a second after she had spoken. Ace probably needed more help than Rem would need, besides, Machina seemed…well he wasn't fine, but he seemed like he wouldn't be all that much trouble. Nodding slightly, giving Deuce an assuring smile she then looked back at Machina. "Yeah, I'll be fine, you go make sure Ace is still alive, and good luck to you too." She almost wanted to laugh the last part, but decided that because of those messages, she'd best just be nice about the whole thing. After Deuce had left, Rem kept her attention on Machina as he held his hands out and called to her. Blinking for a second she mentally gave a great sigh and took in a deep breath, inhaling the scent of alcohol and made her eyes water a bit. He was trying, as much as a drunken man could actually try, but taking a deep breath, trying to avoid the alcohol stench that seemed to fill the room, Rem just wandered over towards Machina as he jerked his arms around again towards her. "And it was very nice of you to stop by." She said as she maneuvered down to sit on the floor and give Machina a hug before he got flustered or fussy. Stroking her hand against his back, just trying to be comforting and what not, Rem tilted her head as she looked at him carefully. "Did you have fun?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1280 Muse: Great! Tagged: Just Machina now Wearing: Shorts, T-shirt, slippers Listening To: Nothing Notes: Nada!

Machina copied Rem's actions, putting his finger up to his lips too, shushing quietly. He could do this! Being quiet was easy, he just had to not talk. He liked talking right now and did not want to stop, but Rem wanted quiet. With his finger to his lip, he felt blood there and pulled his hand away to look at it. "Red," he giggled, very quietly so as to not upset Rem again. Wiping the spots of blood on his pants leg, Machina hoped he could still do well here. Okay, he had fallen over and he was bleeding slightly, it was not the best start, but he could pull it back! He had important things to say, he was sure, although for some reason he could not remember what they were. He was sure that he would remember soon though, then Rem would fall in love with him when he told her everything. That was all he wanted. Although maybe if she fell in love with him she'd want to have sex with him too. That idea made Machina giggle slightly again. That would be a great end to this most wonderful of evenings. Stay optimistic! ...Considering the way Machina could not move off the floor, it was grossly optimistic, but thankfully these thoughts stayed in his head and did not come spilling out of his mouth. At least she had liked the presents he got for her! That was something. Then, after several minutes of more or less lying at her feet, Machina realised Deuce was actually there too.
Even Machina did not have a clue what he was talking about when he started talking to Deuce, but he only managed to shut his mouth when he was distracted by his hat running away across the room. Once he came to a halt, hitting on the floor with his hat back on his head, Machina was disappointed to find that there had been no secret girl party when he had been away. "You should've had a paaarrty Rem, they're fun." Only when Deuce literally grabbed both sides of his head and demanded to know where Ace was did Machina actually listen up and answer her question. "He- his dormitory! I put him to the b-bathroom! Gave him water b-but he wanted me to goooo." Machina turned to Rem again once Deuce had got the information she wanted out of him and let go of his head, "Why'd he say that Remmy? I was bein' a good brooo. Gave 'im water an' everythin'." Well, he had, then more or less had left Ace to his own devices while drinking champagne. So he wasn't that great a 'bro' to Ace, at least he had dragged Ace home though, that was the important thing, Etro only knows where the little blond would have ended up otherwise. There was a couple of rather large women who had been really interested in pulling Machina and Ace onto what they had been promised was 'a really fun party'. Luckily Machina had been too looking forward to seeing Rem to agree and had insisted Ace was about to score with Deuce - Ace was too out of it by that stage to argue either way.
"Of course Rem'll be okay! I'm here!" Machina insisted just as Deuce left, just before he started flumbling over his words and asking for a hug, which Rem fortunately agreed to. Machina put his head on her shoulder and snuggled up to her when she gave him a hug, perfectly content. In fact he would be quite happy to sit like this all night or possibly forever, whichever lasted longer. "I wanted to come see you cuz you're special," he smiled, talking into her hair, "Did I tell you that before? I hope so." Speaking at what was actually a normal volume, what could even be called quiet, Machina smiled even more when Rem asked him if he had had fun, "It was looooads of fun. Me an' Acey, we came home now, had to get him away from Nine... Lost King... I don't know where the others went. Are they here?" Machina giggled, "King had his guitar an' he ain't so serious as I thought Rem. Not after Nine got 'im drinkin'." Machina's speech was a bit all over the place, chopped and slurred, more noticeable because usually he spoke so well, unlike Nine for example, who spoke like a drunken Yakuza even while he was sober. Still, the majority of what he said should be comprehensible. "Some men- women- men- dressed up people, dey gave me all this cool stuff." He indicated the hat when he said that, but quickly put his hand back around Rem, enjoying his hug. "Really friendly folks. Trey lost his shirt..." Machina struggled to remember what had happened at all. Doubtlessly even more of these fragmented memories would have slipped away by morning, "An' I gave him mine! Cuz it's his birthday Rem. He turned seventeeen today! That's our age! Or was he seventeen last night? What?" Machina could not even keep track of his own drunken logic, so who else had a chance? Looking up again, Machina saw that Deuce had left, he had not noticed her leaving before, "She gonna find Acey?" Machina asked Rem, "He wanted her to go see him, but that was 'fore he got sick. I think he's in love with her." Rem had probably managed to work that one out already from the messages she had overheard, but Ace would have kicked Machina then if he could hear him oh-so-casually spilling out his deepest secrets like that. [/IMG] There was no good way to define this evening. Weird, crazy, confusing…oh the list could go on and on, but really, Rem was focusing on making sure Machina didn't hurt himself or start shouting and wake up this entire wing of the academy. That would not be a good way to start off the weekend, especially if she had to try and explain something to a professor. Rem was horrible at lying, it was a known fact to anyone who'd been around her long enough, there was no way she could make up some elaborate story about why Machina was the way he was right now. Well at least he got the idea of being quiet after Rem hushed him for a brief moment, of course before he went trailing along into her and Deuce's dorm for his hat. At least he wasn't an angry scary drunk, that was a good thing. In fact, if Rem wasn't so tired or so confused at the moment, she might find this Machina really cute and adorable. Ah who could blame her? Even if she was rather sleepy, and a bit on the confused side, she always thought Machina was adorable, this was just the icing on top of it all. She couldn't be mad at him, she'd just do her best to make sure he didn't get sick and made sure that once he sobered up he wouldn't be on the other side of Oriens.
At least Deuce was able to get the answers out of him fairly quickly, after gaining his attention of course. Sighing and looking at Machina, Rem shook her head and just tried to say and do things that could keep Machina calm, like agreeing with him being a good bro and what not. "I'm sure Ace just doesn't feel good right now, you were definitely being a good…bro." she insisted as she looked at Deuce, assuring the younger student that it was okay for her to leave and check up on Ace. Rem would be able to handle herself with a drunken Machina, he was harmless and just so dang adorable there wasn't a worry in her mind about any of this, unless he started shouting again. Wandering over and sitting next to Machina, giving him that hug he'd wanted, Rem just kept her tone nice and calm as he snuggled up to her. Even with his lack of having a shirt, Rem was quite comfortable having him here all snuggly and cute like this, it was really something she hoped he remembered for the future. Girls loved to snuggle. Frankly, if she had to compare, he was being like the world's best teddy bear right now, which pleased her 110% "You're special too Machina." She said as a smile appeared on her lips, far wider than normal.
Oh dear lord, Nine drunk? Well…there probably wasn't much of a difference there, probably just twice as much foul language, foul gestures and…foul everything. They lost King? How could you lose someone that huge? Wasn't he supposed to be one of those…quiet responsible types? Geez. "No, they aren't here." Her voice was still calm, but on the inside she was a bit worried. Of course the next statement cleared up the air very quickly. Nine got King to drink…there was a miracle. Shaking her head slightly, with a small chuckle she could only imagine the chaos those boys had raised. The poor bar was probably torn to pieces, or everyone there just got annoyed, something like that. Still, she hoped the other boys were alright and not still wandering about creating chaos for those trying to sleep at 3:00 in the morning. Hearing about everything that happened tonight, from a drunken Nine, to losing King, Ace being sick and Trey…losing his shirt, it only made Rem want to shake her head, pat Machina on the shoulder and go out on a mission, looking for all the boys and making sure they made it home safely, but here she was still hugging Machina. Something in her gut though told her that she and Deuce wouldn't be the only two ladies up this late dealing with these boys. Smiling and giggling a bit. This was just too damn cute. "She'll find Ace, and yeah, I think he does too." She smiled before looking around the room, still tied up in a hug with Machina, not that she really minded, so long as he was being rather quiet and less…crazy, then she was happy. "You sleepy at all Machina? It's been a long night for you." She could easily walk him back to his dorm, but that would take effort. If she really could pull off getting him to even go to sleep…then that'd really be an accomplishment for the day- er…night? One of the two, but hopefully Deuce wouldn't mind him in their dorm all night, Rem could plop him into her bed and she could easily either not sleep, sleep on the floor, or hell…take Deuce's bed until the younger girl got back. Whatever worked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 966 Muse: Good! Tagged: Machina Wearing: Shorts, tshirt, slippers Listening To: Nothing Notes: Kinda bleh

He was not sure entirely what it was that had given him the urge to come and see Rem in her dormitory in the early hours of the morning. Machina had just been dragged into a strip club about two or three hours ago, when suddenly he remembered how much he had wanted to see Rem (the two events were largely unconnected) and ever since then he had not let up on the issue until he had got here. He nodded slightly when she reassured him about Ace, “He was ill, maybe I shouldn’t have left him when he told me to go. Deuce will go get him okay, won’t she?” Already he was struggling to remember carrying Ace up to the dormitory at all, still not really being able to register memories properly in his alcohol-soaked mind. “I don’ want him to be ill ‘cuz of me.” Not that it was really Machina’s fault particularly. If Ace had chosen to stop drinking then he would not have been so drunk, end of story.
“I am?” he questioned, slightly surprised, as if he had not expected such a response from her. Then he remembered that of course Rem would say such a nice thing in return, because she was perfect and wonderful. Simple as that. Still hugging onto her, he kissed her on the forehead in exchange for her compliment, then rested her cheek against her hair, still perfectly content to just sit here and snuggle up to her like this. “Aren’t they here? Maybe they all went to bed,” Machina wondered aloud when Rem informed him that none of the other boys were here. This statement about them going to bed was largely true, how true Machina did not realise, although whose bed all the boys had ended up in was anybody’s guess. Certainly Machina himself would not be making it home to his own bed tonight, that was for sure. At least with his help Ace had made it home to his dormitory, although whether he had actually made it to bed or was planning to sleep in the bath, that was unknown.
Machina pulled Rem into his lap properly, instead of having her crouching beside him, since he was quite happy to just stay sitting on the floor like this as long as she was content to stay down here with him. With one hand he slightly clumsily stroked her hair, biting his lip slightly at the intense concentration this simple action required from him in his present state. When she agreed with his statement about Ace he nodded in agreement, “I told him he had to tell her ya see, I told him he should. So I said to him he had to go see Deuce an’ I had to come see you an’ that was the deal.” That revealation said a bit more than Machina had probably meant it to about his feelings for Rem as opposed to Ace’s feelings for Deuce, but he did not even notice what he had slipped out, “I guess it woulda worked better if he hadn’t got ill, right? But at least he seen her Rem, an’ I came here. So it worked alright, didn’t it?”
In response to her question, Machina vehemently denied all accusations of possible tiredness like a child does right when they are actually most tired of all. “I’m not sleepy at all!” he told her with a slight grin, “I could stay up allll night.” Even as he said that he had to slightly stifle a yawn with his other hand, as if her mentioning sleep at all had reminded some part of his brain that he was actually tired. Well, it was 3am after all, and he had been in classes and training most of the day before he went out, so he really should have been tired long before now. Curling both his arms back around Rem again, he let his head slouch over onto her shoulder again. “If you’re tired you could sleep right here Rem, I’ll be comfy for you,” he promised, either forgetting or just not caring that her bed was about two steps away from them. He dragged his head up again and patted his shoulder, “You just put your head riiiight here and go to sleep. I won’t move.” He tilted his head slightly to one side as he looked at her, his eyes full of love and sincerity, “An’ if you don’t wanna sleep, then we can just sit an’ talk. I’d like to sit an’ talk to you, if you wanna do that Rem.” He beamed at her, as if there was nothing in the world that would make him happier than to just sit here with her in his lap and talk with her until dawn about anything that she wanted to converse with him. Indeed, there really were not a lot of things that would make him happier. Machina had never forgotten Rem in all the time they had been apart and now she was in his class again and he got to see her everyday - well he was going to do anything to just have her back in his life properly. Amusing wasn’t even the right word to describe this evening so far, there were just…a mix of words that Rem had for it as a whole. The voicemails, the texts and of course Machina showing up here far from his sober self. You could say she was amused, you could say she was sleepy, or you could say both, which was true. “Deuce will take good care of Ace, he’ll be better in no time.” She assured him, just trying to be as quiet and nice as possible, besides, there was no need to get him upset over things that didn’t really matter now. From what Rem had heard was that hangovers sucked, you felt sick as a dog depending on how much alcohol you consumed and if Ace was ill now, perhaps he wouldn’t be too bad tomorrow. Besides, Rem was pretty positive that Deuce would take good care of Ace when he was sick…even after all of those messages that would make even the biggest ‘village bike’ blush. Either way, at least Rem knew Ace and Machina would be okay…as for the rest of the guys, she only hoped they didn’t get hurt or hurt anyone else. That would be a fun story to hear the next day…what happened, if any of the guys actually remembered of course.
“Yeah you’re special, Machina.” Rem stated with a smile and a nod, as if to confirm her statement to him. She’d always thought he was a great guy, the best friend you could’ve asked for…even during their seven years apart which turned out to be rather silly seeing as they were in the same school. Just went to show how big this place was and how antisocial the classes could be with one another. “They’re probably sleeping.” She agreed with him, knowing that it was highly unlikely. If Ace and Machina had just made it back and they’d LOST some of the other guys, then…she assumed they were still wandering around somewhere causing any kind of mayhem. Maybe once she got a free time, Rem should shoot a text to a few of the other girls and see if they got anything weird on their doorstep? Surely she’d have to text Seven, Sice…and…well all of them. Imagining any of the other guys being like Machina was now was just too funny. Chasing after a hat and being so snuggly…she just couldn’t see it with some of them.
Being pulled into Machina’s lap, Rem almost stiffened, feeling her muscles tighten as a slight burning blush worked its way onto her cheeks. She blinked for a moment and just mentally gave herself a pep talk, telling herself to relax. ‘It’s okay, he’s drunk…just…smile and don’t act like such a school girl! Cuddling is fun, not like anything’s going to happen you paranoid loser!’ she chided herself and took a deep breath before relaxing herself in Machina’s arms, a smile on her face as her face was still a good shake of pink. His words were a bit more revealing than he probably wanted. Ace liked Deuce, so he should go see her…Machina…came to see Rem because she was ‘special’, what exactly did that mean? Well, Rem’s mind was already racing through the most obvious reason, and it made her think back to the message he’d left on Deuce’s phone about him asking her to get married years ago. It made the blush on her cheeks redden some before she smiled, nodding. “Yeah, anyone would be better so long as no one gets sick. But…yep.” There wasn’t much more to say on that matter, at least for Rem. She was just trying her best to shut up. She didn’t need to burst out giggling like a sheepish school girl and blush to a bright red – although she was starting to fail at the latter. She’d pull through it though, besides, maybe Machina was so drunk that he wouldn’t notice? That was something she could hope for at least for now.
Rem should’ve been asleep a few hours ago, snuggled into her blankets and dreaming, but with Deuce freaking out over those voicemails, it just didn’t happen. Not that she was angry or anything, she was just a bit on the sleepy side. Smirking as Machina claimed he wasn’t sleepy, Rem somehow knew otherwise, but she wouldn’t push the matter, not wanting to risk a rather loud and childish debate about it. ‘All night? ….I’m going to need one hell of a nap tomorrow.’ Rem mentally told herself, preparing for a very LONG night ahead. If he really could stay up all night…then tomorrow they’d both probably be dead tired after the school day and training that’d happened today. With Machina against her shoulder, she took in another deep breath before he offered to let her sleep against him. Smiling wide at him, she shook her head and played herself off as not being all that tired, holding in a yawn as she did so. “I’m okay, we can sit and talk.” He looked just too happy for her to just snooze while he was awake doing…something. Besides, she did want to keep a good eye on him while he was in this state, and if luck happened to be on her side and he did fall asleep, well then that’d be good too! He could sleep in here for the night and Rem wouldn’t have to try lugging him back to his dorm and risk getting caught. “What do you want to talk about, Machina?” she asked, beaming back at him just as happy, forcing the sleepy feeling away and just blinking to keep her eyes from glazing over and blurring her vision. Staying awake…and being held here was kind of nice.
And the blush was still there on her cheeks. [/blockquote] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1107 Muse: Great! Tagged: Machina <3 Wearing: DEM PJs! Listening To: Stuff Notes: It’s kinda bleh tbh. >>

Glad to hear that Ace would be okay - and just taking Rem’s assurance that Deuce would look after him as the gospel truth - Machina just nodded and then was quieter for a while. He did not react again to what Rem had said about him being special either, but he did think about it for a while, wondering the implications of what she might mean by such a thing. She wasn’t just humouring him, was she? Machina had just returned to the point where he was sober enough to know that he was drunk, so he was able to control himself slightly better by having a little grain of self-awareness again. “I should’ve asked them where they were goin’,” Machina shook his head, when Rem said the other boys were probably sleeping. “They’ll be alright, won’t they? Just Ace got ill an’ I hope the others were okaaay...” He stretched back his head, leaning back against the wall, but rather misjudged the distance in his drunken state and ended up smacking the back of his head off the wall behind him. His face screwed up for a moment and he swore a million curses in his head, then he relaxed and just quietly said, “Ouch...” Fortunately alcohol depressed his nerves enough for that to not hurt as much as it should - certainly it would be a lot more tender in the morning when it had worn off.
But hey, she wanted to stay up and talk! This made Machina quite happy, he didn’t want to go to bed yet, even though he probably could have quite easily fallen asleep from his current level of tiredness. Drunk or not, he did not fail to recognise having Rem alone in her room at night was quite a special opportunity - not for that kind of thing, as much as he would like it, but just to stay up and talk when they were so much more secluded than during the day. It was more personal somehow. Of course having her in his lap and stroking her hair certainly added to the closeness of the moment, no doubt about that. It took him a couple of minutes to realise she had started blushing when he pulled her towards him, only then did he grin and put a hand gently to her cheek. “What’re you goin’ red for?” he asked her in a slightly teasing tone, “It’s just me, huh? We were always alone together like this back home.” Well, not quite together like this, not pressed against each other and with him drunk and shirtless, her just in her little pajamas. No, they had never been alone together quite like this. It didn’t really occur like that to Machina though, who just glazed at her quite tenderly for a moment before returning to thinking of what fabulous topic he should select for their conversation.
Machina thought about this for several seconds more, requiring most of his current ability to concentrate. What to talk about... what to talk about? Oh! He thought of something and smiled, “I could tell you another secret if you like?” He paused to let her answer, then continued, “One of the mother chocobos in the stables died, so me an’ Ace have been raising a chocobo chick from its egg.” He grinned at this, not having told anyone else. A few days ago when Machina had dragged Ace out of the library for a walk they had inevitably ended up in the chocobo stables as they usually did - both of them shared a love for the animals that was probably their biggest bond - and had been informed that one of the mothers was on her last legs. Right there they had both sworn that the egg would not go uncared for and that they would take care of it if the mother could not. Hence had followed several nights sitting in front of an egg under a hot lamp, usually with a bunch of homework books scattered around them, and a vow of secrecy that they were not going to tell the other guys how they had both apparently become women overnight. Ace insisted the other guys were used to him liking chocobos and wouldn’t find it so weird; Machina was newer to the class and was not quite as confident in the understanding of a group of teenage boys. Nevertheless the two had successfully hatched a chick a few days before and now it seemed to be doing just fine. Machina was fairly sure Ace had taken to carrying the chick around with him, although Ace denied this, but either way it was safely with the other chicks in the stables tonight, which was just as well considering the trouble the pair had gotten themselves into. “We did a coin toss an’ I won, so I got to name it. So I called it Kimi, after you.” Machina nodded slightly, “I’m hoping Chichiri will look after her. I introduced them.” He wasn’t sure what else to say about that, he had rambled on a bit, but not as much as might be expected from a drunk. “I’ll introduce you as well Rem! You’ll come meet her, won’t you? Except don’t tell Ace, although maybe he’ll want to show Deuce, which would be okay, wouldn’t it?” He paused and thought for a minute, then his grin turned slightly more devious and he poked Rem gently in the side, “Tell me one of your secrets. What don’t I know about you? I’ll tell you anything you like to hear. I already told you one!” WORDS; 982 TAGGED; Rem MUSE; Awesome! It wasn’t as bad as Rem had thought. Machina was a well behaved drunk in her eyes, at least she didn’t have to deal with someone like…Nine, or Jack, or even Eight for that matter, lord only knows what Sice, Cinque and Seven were going to be dealing with. Shaking her head a bit, Rem stayed by Machina and kept a small smile on her face, being as quiet and comforting as possible, and trying to keep him quite as well. “They’ll be fine, I promise, don’t worry about the others, Machina.” When Machina had leaned back and hit his head slightly, Rem blinked for a second, biting her lower lip as she bit back a laugh, she didn’t want or need to laugh at his expense, it was just…funny. "You okay?” her tone was a bit choppy as she held back giggles and held back her sleepy tone, holding in yawns wasn’t easy, but she did it! Falling asleep was something she couldn’t do. Now, if Machina on the other hand fell asleep, she’d soon follow after, but just as she had asked, he seemed awake…nice. She’d have to force her eyes open for awhile then wouldn’t she? No problem! She’d pulled all nighters before studying and what not, but…for some reason the work of the week had made her exhausted already.
Rem was blushing, she didn’t know why…okay so she did, but she wished she wasn’t. Sitting here in Machina’s lap and blushing, how lame! With a sheepish smile on her face, her red eyes gazed away from his face for a moment, trying to compose herself and sort of get rid of the blush if she could. If she turned any redder she’d probably feel even stupider than she was. What Machina had said though, it…well, nah it didn’t make her feel better, especially the teasing tone. Oh how wrong he was, they hadn’t been like this before. Had Rem continued to just sit at his side this would’ve been no problem, but here she was…blushing and sitting in his lap. She had a good reason to turn red, but no excuse as to why. “Ah…don’t worry about it.” She said gazing back at his face as her red cheeks seemed to tone down a bit, finally finding some sort of helpful thought to cling to for dear life, it kept her from blushing. They were just friends…best friends, sitting here…alone, one shirtless and the other in pajamas. There was nothing wrong with that? Oh and the sitting in his lap thing, that wasn’t going to float into her mind anymore…unless she WANTED to make a fool of herself even more. ANYWAYS moving on!
Getting on to another topic would distract both Rem and Machina, once he’d finally started talking again, Rem smirked a bit at his words. Another secret, that sounded pretty good to her! “Alright, what is it, Machina?” she asked in a very interested voice as her eyes were glued to his face, just taking in his features and listening, multitasking between the two was easy, she liked listening to him talk, even if it wasn’t about anything relevant or interesting, and of course she admired his features. He was good looking of course, but it seemed that recently she’d been taking an even closer look at him, admiring him just a little bit more than she had before. What Machina had to say though drew all of her attention away from how handsome he was to…his words again. “You’re raising a chocobo?” She asked raising an eyebrow for a moment before he went on to explain the chick’s name and how she shouldn’t tell Ace. A bright smile appeared on her face, the thought of Ace and Machina raising a baby chick was so…cute in her mind! Rem herself had been fond of the yellow birds and she really did want to see this baby chocobo. “Kimi is a nice name, Chichiri will be nice to her, he’s a good chocobo.” she said with a small nod, hiding the laughs again. Where did Rem and Kimi come together? Oh well, it was a cute name for a girl chocobo. “I’d like to meet her, and I won’t tell Ace, though…I think you’re right. He’ll want to show Deuce, sounds like a good idea.” Oh dear, then came her turn. A secret that she had that he didn’t know. That was a tough one. Tapping her fingers against her chin she began to ponder. “Hmm…one of my secrets…” Rem was an honest person, it was hard for her to lie to anyone so keeping secrets of her own didn’t happen often…so it was hard to choose which secret to spill to her best friend. It didn’t have to be anything major did it? Sighing quietly and laughing at herself for a moment, Rem brushed a bit of hair away from her face. “Okay. Before coming here to this academy, back in our village when we used to hang out all the time as kids. I sort of…may have had a childish crush on you.” She admitted sheepishly as a tint of red came back to her cheeks. That was a good secret wasn’t it? Nothing too major, but nothing stupid either. Hopefully Machina found some amusement in that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1046 Muse: Good! Wincing and gritting his teeth, Machina nodded slightly, "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Nothin' can hurt me. Not a wall, 'specially." Fortunately the alcohol in his system dulled the pain of hitting his head, but... ow. It certainly hurt more than he was letting on. Which was probably foolish since Rem was both sober and an ex-member of the White Mage class, meaning she probably could have cured him in about three seconds. No matter. He managed to distract himself quite well anyway, once he had noticed her blushing. Rem looked away and the redness in her cheeks faded, but Machina wasn't done playing around yet. "Ya sure it's nothin'? It don't look like nothin'," his speech was still horribly choppy, but his brain was starting to work a little better now. Yes, he was still putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5, but that was better than earlier when 2 and 2 would have equalled a lot of confusion and maybe a batman symbol for the final answer. Machina gently tapped her on the nose, something he almost certainly wouldn't have done sober, and grinned, "What shouldn't I worry 'bout?"
When she asked him about the chocobo chick, Machina nodded with a big smile, "I know she ain't just mine, but I never had a proper pet myself before. Chichiri was always Izana's." He thought for a second, "Well I had a goldfish once, wasn't really the same. Fish don't do much." Not to mention the fish had been alive about three weeks when a much younger Chichiri had decided it looked good for dinner. Machina had not been too heartbroken. "You can definitely see Kimi though, Rem, I'll make sure of it. She'll like you for definite." It was probably a good thing that Rem actually wanted to see the chick, otherwise Machina probably would have gone on about it until she relented, at least in his current state.
Machina let a grin settle on his face at that 'secret', not that he had the concentration to keep up a poker face right now even if he had wanted to. "Me too!" he smiled, then hastily added, "I had a crush on you, I mean, when we were kids. Not myself. That'd be weird." He laughed slightly, nervously, because he only had one 'secret' left to tell and even though he was drunk, he was still quite in trepidation of actually telling her straight. Just then a new wave of tiredness hit him and he yawned again, actually admitting to himself he was tired this time rather than denying it like a big kid. His head hanging slightly as he tried to stave off falling asleep, he rubbed Rem's back, "Mayyybe... Maybe I could sleep now. You're tired too ain't ya? We could go sleep now." His body felt as limp and heavy as a Machina-shaped sack of potatoes. He was comfy enough on the floor really, although he'd definitely be stiff in the morning if he spent the night there, so a bed would really be preferable. Nonetheless, he could not quite find the motivation to make himself move anywhere. It would be so easy just to sit and sleep here. But wait! He reminded himself before they went to sleep, there was something he had to do. Why? Because he had promised Ace. Actually there was a whole range of better reasons to do it, but this was the easiest, simplest reason to focus on, because then he wasn't just saying it for himself. He was saying this for Ace! For the deal! He couldn't let a friend down, could he? Now just... now just to find the words...
"Wait, Rem..." He halted her, in case she was about to take him up on his suggestion of actually getting sleep straight away, "I had something else to say." For a good few seconds he paused, not sure what he was really trying to say, not sure if he had any more words in mind at all. He hesitated long enough for him to feel embarrassed, like the atmosphere was begging him to just get some words out of his mouth. Why was he suddenly tongue-tied? He had never had a problem speaking around Rem before. Certainly it wasn't the alcohol that was to blame, it made him way more talkative than usual. Just say it. You know what you want to say. Then, all of a sudden, Machina was hit with a stupendous idea and realised he really did know what he had to say, because he had been thinking about it for way too long already and Rem was right here, now. "Go out with me." That came out as more of a command than a question, so he tried again, "I mean, be my girlfriend. Will you? Please? That was possibly the most disjointed way someone had been asked out ever, but at least he had finally said it. And he was still too tipsy to be panicking about the answer. Great! Rem was obviously making a fool out of herself. Why was she blushing? She was just sitting here with Machina…that wasn’t a big deal was it? No, not at all! She just needed to collect her thoughts and dismiss this blushing nonsense of hers, but that was easier said than done. As she gazed away from Machina, trying to get a grip on herself, she just smiled, acting as if she wasn’t doing anything silly at all. “I’m positive it’s nothing, really.” She spoke before turning to look at him before her nose was tapped, causing the red hue to her cheeks to return, and on the inside she was just mentally scolding herself with every big of anger she could muster without looking angry or anything. “Heh, don’t worry about…my…being ridiculous?” she ended that more as a question than a statement to answer him. She shrugged her shoulders a bit and had quite the sheepish little smile on her face as she just took a deep breath, trying to clear her head and roll with whatever stupid things she decided to blush at in the future. All and all, this wasn’t going too bad, and for some odd reason, it made her wonder how Deuce was doing. Was Ace still sick like Machina had said? If Rem thought she had it rough, then she really didn’t know what was going on elsewhere.
Thinking about that chocobo chick, it made Rem smile even more and finally the red hue to her cheeks died down as the topic changed and she got more comfortable with where she was sitting. “Well I’m sure you’ll do great with Kimi, maybe we can go see her tomorrow or something?” she suggested, that is if Machina didn’t have his head in the toilet or was feeling sick all day, she was wondering how he’d managed to not be sick anyways. With everything she’d heard about alcohol, wasn’t it supposed to make you feel like crap? Well, he certainly played the part of a drunk man now, far too happy and doing things he wouldn’t have if he were sober. Though in a way, Rem was okay with this, at least he wasn’t a raging lunatic this way, just adorable in every way possible! And cuddly, and sweet and…yep, he was a lot of good things in general. But anyways, seeing the chick would be fun, only if Machina was feeling well though, no doubt that Rem would be watching closely, and if there was any sign of illness, his butt had better be in bed until he felt better.
The secret that Rem had shared, it didn’t spike up a blush or anything, just a small smile on her face as she reminisced about the good old days of growing up with Machina. They really had been the best of friends, so childish crushes weren’t weird or anything, and it made her smile widen a bit as he commented, saying he’d had a crush on her as well, as a kid though, she couldn’t help but laugh a little bit with him. Someday they’d look back on this evening and laugh, that is, if Machina even remembered it, but she hoped he did, though maybe he could forget about her blushing and what not, that’d be okay with her. She’d have to wait and see what he remembered tomorrow…or later today, however you wanted to look at it. She felt a yawn working its way towards her lips, but she held it back, but when he mentioned that he could sleep now, a mental sigh of relief was released. Rem could probably crash right here, but Machina couldn’t be all that comfortable, so as she started to move, getting out of his lap and moving to get up. She glanced back when he told her to wait. Oh dear…did he want to keep talking? She honestly hoped not, she didn’t mind talking to him but couldn’t that wait? She was just too dang tired to really stay awake much longer. “Hm? What is it, Machina?” she said as she sat back down knowing that it might be a few minutes before she could actually get up for good and wander towards her bed, or whatever. Right now, she didn’t really care at this juncture, she just wanted to sleep.
What he had left to say though, It made Rem blink a few times. She was trying to decide how serious he was about the question, seeing as he wasn’t exactly sober, but judging by the way he had said it and his tone of voice, she sort of got the impression that he was really asking her, no matter how sloppily he did so. Her red eyes drifted to the floor for a second before a smile appeared on her face, gazing at Machina she then rose to her feet and held out a hand for him to take to help him up. He was not sleeping against a wall. He’d really asked her out…her mind was still trying o wrap around this, but it brought all sorts of smiles to her face, almost wanting to giggle or do something obnoxiously girly, but she refrained from that sort of thing. Keeping that sincere smile on her face, she looked at Machina in the face and decided to mimic something he had done earlier. “It’s about time you asked, Machina.” She said before gently tapping her finger against his nose and laughing a little, dear god she hoped he remembered this, and that statement of hers, was pretty much the answer to his question. “Now…it’s time for sleep, you’re tired, I’m tired, you can sleep in my bed, the floor can’t be comfortable.” She spoke, gesturing to her bed with was pretty neat, her blankets folded back slightly. Now that Machina had asked her to be his girlfriend, to go out with him, she found herself more awake than she was a few moments ago. That would soon pass though once her head hit the pillow, she’d go take Deuce’s bed for the night or something, it sounded reasonable, but first she was going to get Machina situated and hopefully he’d crash quickly, just as she would. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1182 Muse: GREAT! Machina didn't entirely believe her still, but he didn't push the matter anymore. If she didn't want to tell him why she was blushing then she didn't have to, but he did have to wonder what Rem could have to hide from him. Of course, he was hiding things from her too, but his secret wasn't making him blush. Possibly he would be if he was sober, but most likely he still wouldn't, Machina didn't embarrass very easily, not unless he was being made to look stupid. Maybe she was being truthful and it really was just something of no consequence. He was too tired and too drunk to try and work it out for himself, just quite happy to have her sit there in his lap, blushing or not. She'd actually let it fade, but him tapping her on the nose like that seemed to bring it right back. Rem was so cute, he really did like her... Machina let his free arm rest on her waist, hugging her, while he was talking about Kimi. "Tomorrow sounds great!" Machina nodded enthusiastically, not realising that if his drunkenness tonight was anything to go by, he'd most likely have one hell of a hangover when he woke up in the morning and just going down to the chocobo stables might seem like a great expedition. If he ever let himself go to sleep that is, which was looking doubtful at this point as it grew ever later. 3am was already a distant memory, soon 4am would be long gone as well. After a full day of classes and training, it was a miracle he hadn't just fallen asleep on Rem's shoulder, or vice versa. Not that he would have particularly minded if she had fallen asleep on him, Machina would have sat on the floor for the rest of the night if it meant cuddling Rem. He was in a very cuddly mood right now, although doubtlessly Rem would have worked that out already.
Rem's 'secret' from their childhood, which Machina immediately responded to by saying he used to have a crush on her as well, it made him think, as much as he was up to serious thinking right now. If she had liked him and he had liked her, there should have been no problem, but neither of them had ever said anything. That was not something he should let happen again. Of course there was no guarantee Rem ever thought about him like that anymore, but he should still try to say something before he lost his nerve. Besides, he had that deal with Ace, didn't he? Machina was really starting to get hit with his tiredness now, but his nervous thoughts kept his brain on task. Only the fact that he knew he had to say something, just if he could find the right words to say it, stopped him from shutting his eyes right then and there. When he finally managed to talk and ask her out, he found himself strangely unworried about her response. Maybe just a side effect of the alcohol, or maybe he was more confident in her reply than he thought, but either way at least he had finally said it. He hated feeling like he was keeping a secret from her, even when it was not a bad thing he was hiding.
He waited for a moment with baited breath, as a smile appeared on her face. A smile was good! She got to her feet, reaching out a hand to help him up as well, with he took, although he was filled with confusion. Why wasn't she answering him? When Rem finally spoke up, Machina looked at her for a moment, as if he was not quite sure if she meant what he thought she did. Was- was that a yes? Rem hadn't given him a particularly direct answer, which his alcohol-influenced brain definitely would have appreciated about now, but she was definitely smiling enough for it to be a yes though. Then she tapped his nose like he had done to her just a couple of minutes before and Machina laughed quietly, a grin splitting his face as he realised what this meant. Rem really wanted to be his girlfriend? She liked him too? As in... like like? Immediately he hugged her, wrapping his arms around her and leaning his cheek gently against her hair, "Yeah, it did." He didn't mind that it had taken a while though, at least he had done it and she had actually said yes! Machina was completely happy, and he was perfectly compliant when she more or less told him to go to bed. He didn't have much to get changed out of, just pulled out his belt so the buckle wouldn't poke him in the stomach, peeled off his socks (since he had lost a shoe one was rather muddy to wearing in bed) and dropped his hat off on top of them. "Goodnight Rem," he smiled sweetly as her, before crawling under the sheets and planting his face in her pillow. It smelled like her, which was comforting, not that he was in need of any more comfort right now, with his heart singing at Rem's acceptance to be his girlfriend. "Sleep well," he told her, somewhat muffled by the pillow. Within minutes, he was asleep. WORDS; 911 TAGGED; Rem! MUSE; Good!
