With a perpetual smile etched into her face, Deuce happily went about her cooking as she occasionally turned around to give King some pointers. Though the real reason for being here was to help out a friend, Deuce couldn’t deny that she had some selfish reasons for being here as well. The brunette loved cooking, which was one part of the reason, but not the most important one. The truth was, she often had to cook alone, all by herself since most of the others just got their food from the cafeteria. She didn’t blame them; the food in the cafeteria was quite good, so she could imagine why people would prefer getting it rather than preparing it themselves. Sometimes Deuce would drag Cinque or Cater along so she had someone to chat with, but other than that, she always stood here by herself. She really liked having the chance to cook with someone else for a change, even if it was a onetime thing.
“They do look pretty good, don’t they?” Deuce agreed as she mixed her own things together, balancing her attention between doing her work and talking to King, and also occasionally on checking up on him, though she did that less and less as time went by. King seemed to be handling himself quite well, so he really didn’t need her to look over his shoulder all the time. Honestly, she was quite surprised at how well it was going. When she’d suggested making cookies, and when King admitted that he was no cooking prince, she’d been a little worried about how all this would turn out. She believed in King, but everyone had points they could stand to improve, and she had half expected this to be his weak point, but he was doing well enough for someone who never really spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Maybe he was a natural, one of those cooks who could just throw random ingredients together that made everyone cringe at how awful it sounded, but then they managed to turn crap into gold. It was possible, why not? Or maybe she’d just wrongly assumed King would be as hopeless as Nine when it came to these things. Deuce could only imagine how hard it’d be to teach him something like this, though considering how nice he always was to her, maybe he’d put some actual effort in if she asked him nicely. When King asked for her approval, she gave him a friendly nod and an encouraging thumbs up. He was really a great student! She could only imagine Kurasame’s joy if their entire class had been filled with King’s, surely he would be a lot friendlier too if he didn’t have to worry about the Nine’s and Cater’s.
Once more Deuce’s length was turning out to be a hindrance as she tried her hardest to reach the tin foil. Curses! Being short had its advantages, but it certainly had plenty of disadvantages as well, one of which being the inability to reach objects that some cruel prankster had put on a high shelf. Thankfully she had a King here with her to help her reach higher places. “Thanks!” she smiled as she explained to him what to do with it before pulling a long piece of foil off the roll and handing it to King before pulling another piece off for her own batch of cookies. When she felt confident she had enough foil, she put the rest of it back in one of the drawers on a much more reasonable height. Screw you tall cafeteria staff, suck on that one.
After a bit more mixing, she finally finished that part and began to scoop her own cookies onto her baking sheet, listening to King with a gleeful smile. He really liked cooking! She thought that he might, considering how hard he was trying and how well he was doing. When things went well for you, you naturally felt more inclined to try something like this again, right? “You should! It’s a great skill to possess, and I just know if you do it a few more times, you’ll have it mastered before you know it,” she smiled shyly when he complimented her on her teaching skills, “Thanks… I really love cooking a lot, so it’s no trouble for me at all, don’t worry,” she placed her batch of cookies in the oven and made some room for King’s, “But if you insist, maybe you could help me out with homework sometime?” that sounded like a fair deal. Deuce was the cooking expert here, but in almost every other aspect, King was a lot better than her. It shouldn’t be too hard for him to give her some pointers, though she wouldn’t make a big deal out of it if he was too busy in the future. “There, you can just put them into the oven, and then the waiting game starts.” ---------------------------------- Words: 828 Tagged: King Location: Kitchen Outfit: Class Zero Uniform + Apron Notes: That sounds really adorable! When we finish this thread, maybe we can have one about that. =D

This was really pleasant, Deuce was being far too nice, helping him with all of this, and King appreciated every second of it. He’d have to thank her somehow in the future, help her with something – not just reaching things on higher shelves. With a genuine smile on his face as he continued to work the ingredients together, feeling as if all of this was going to be done soon, King wished that it would go on a bit longer. He enjoyed the small conversation and of course the feeling of making something for yourself. Of course these weren’t for himself, they were for Queen and he hoped to Etro that she enjoyed them and that they didn’t turn out absolutely horrible. He doubted anything bad would happen though, Deuce was practically an expert at this in his eyes, everything would run smoothly, of that he was absolutely sure. “If they look as good baked as they do now, then this should be quite the success.” King said with a confident tone, the day was turning in the right direction.
With everything mixed up, it was time to prepare them for the oven. King had reached the foil and let Deuce take the lead once more. After having gained a piece of foil, King moved over towards one of the baking sheets before resting the foil on it, making sure it was smooth and not off the sheet at one end, he didn’t want the bottoms of any cookies sticking to the pan and then getting crappy looking cookies, along with a few evil glares from those having to clean the dishes later in the day. Taking a scoop to the dough and spacing them out evenly across the baking sheet, King had a very concentrated look on his face, commenting about how he liked this cooking thing, it was pretty relaxing and made you feel pretty accomplished. He was probably going to feel even better once all of this was done, if Queen liked them then that would also add to why he liked cooking. He’d have to ask Deuce to do this again sometime, he enjoyed her company and of course she was just so nice, she was probably the most loved member of all of class zero, and for good reasons.
“I might try it out a few times here and there, you should consider giving me more cooking lessons, you do a wonderful job at it.” King said as he got the rest of the cookies evenly spaced out, they were ready for the oven, but he continued their small conversation first. He wasn’t on a tight schedule or anything, and he didn’t get to speak with Deuce on a personal level outside of class all that much, there was just so many other things to take care of outside of the classroom, this though, this was worth the effort and the time. “That sounds like a fair deal to me.” He could help her with her school work, though he was no genius like say…Trey or Queen, but that didn’t mean he was dumb. No, he put effort into his school work unlike some people, but he’d be more than happy to help his fellow classmate should she need the help, he knew Deuce was smart, but should something stump her, he’d be there to help! Moving towards the oven with the first sheet of cookies, King placed them inside and shut the oven, turning to look at Deuce with almost a ‘what do we do now’ look? How long did these take to cook? He didn’t want them undercooked, but he didn’t want them to come out like hockey pucks, “how long do you guess these will take? Surely not too long…right?” he was pretty anxious to get to Queen’s dorm and just see the look on her face once she was greeted with fresh out of the oven cookies, he grinned at the thought, Deuce really deserved many thanks for this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 784 Muse: Good! The short brunette’s eyes looked up brightly when King suggested she should give him more cooking lessons. “Really?” she asked, sounding hopeful, “Because I would really love to. I usually have to cook by myself, I’d really love to be able to cook with a friend from time to time,” as she spoke, she finished up her own batch of cookies and placed them in the oven, waiting for King to place his in as well. With a slight giggle, she shook her head, “Wow, that sounded pretty guilt tripping, didn’t it?” she laughed at the words she’d spoken previously. She had sounded overly excited, and that was how she was feeling at the idea of cooking together with someone else, but she hadn’t meant to sound so… forceful? “Don’t feel obligated or anything, I’m really not all that lonely. I don’t stand around here in the dark with tears in my eyes as I boil an egg or whatever,” she smirked as she leaned back against the wall, “Cater and Cinque keep me company from time to time, it’s just that it’s different when you’re actually cooking together with someone, you know?” after removing her apron (since they were almost done anyway), she turned back and faced King again, “So long story short; if you’re interested in learning more, I’m always up for it. …unless I’m going out for ice cream with Cinque, ice cream has priority over everything else,” she joked at the end.
By the time she’d finished talking, King had finished his batch of cookies and had placed them in the oven, turning to her for ideas on what to do next. “I’d say about eight minutes or so, eleven in total if we include the cooling and sampling,” she stepped up and closed the oven before flicking a few buttons, making sure to stand to the side a bit so King could see what she was doing. “It usually takes a little longer, but I already preheated the oven when we first came here, it’s been heating up while we worked, so they should be done a lot faster now.” Things were about to wrap up, and Deuce kind of regretted that. She’d really had a wonderful time today, and she didn’t want it to end yet. Who knew when she’d get an opportunity like this again? Both to cook with someone else, but also the opportunity to spend some time with King? Oh well, all good things came to an end. He had expressed an interest in doing this again sometime, so maybe sometime in the future, they’d be able to cook stuff together again. That would be nice. Even though she didn’t like this cooking session ending rather early, the brunette was also quite excited for what would be happening afterwards. King would go to Queen and deliver these to her, and the youngest Class Zero member almost wanted to follow King as he made his delivery so she could see Queen’s reaction for herself, it would be so cute. But this was their moment, and Deuce did respect other people’s privacy. Not always, but most of the time when she went eavesdropping or spying on other people, it was because someone else had more or less encouraged her to do so. Usually, it was one of her classmates, like Cater or Trey. They really brought out her curious, adventurous side.
“They smell pretty good, don’t they?” she asked over her shoulder as she sat before the oven, looking through the transparent plate of the oven, “I think they’re about done… could you keep an eye on them while I get you a bag?” she stepped aside and pointed at the cookies, “They’re still a little pale looking right now, once they start looking golden brown, give me a shout, and we’ll take them out to cool them off for a minute or two. Then we can put them in the bag and you can go deliver them to Queen, alright?” she nodded at him before bouncing to her feet and hurrying over to one of the cabinets, searching around for a bag to use, it didn’t take the young girl to find them, as she knew her way around this place quite well. “Oh, what kind of bag did you want? A paper one or one of those transparent bags they use at the store?” she held both up for him to see, “The ones they use in the store are a lot fancier, but that’ll kind of spoil the surprise, I think… it’s up to you though!” ---------------------------------- Words: 766 Tagged: King Location: Kitchen Outfit: Class Zero Uniform Notes: Alrighty, I'd say one last Deuce post after this to properly end their meeting and then we can ask Zack to drop Queen in to end the thread? King couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Deuce and her reactions to what he had said. He’d enjoyed her company and he’d surely enjoy cooking some more, so why not offer up to be a…cooking buddy? “I think it’d be fun, I can’t spend all of my time training or dealing with Nine’s crap, this can provide a bit of peace for the both of us.” He grinned slightly, thinking it would be nice to get away from school work and just make something. Of course, had anyone else seen what he was doing, he probably would’ve gotten poked at with fun, but…knowing King, he would’ve simply shrugged it off or rolled his eyes, you know, the usual. “Consider me your go-to-guy for this, should you ever want company, Deuce.” This was something he could find himself doing every week, or even in his own dorm – only if Nine wasn’t there to joke about it – so maybe…this would be their sort of hobby to bond over? Sounded like it, and in return for all this help in the cooking world, King would help Deuce with any school work, so long as he himself understood it. That seemed fair enough.
“Alright, sounds good.” King nodded after the cookies had been put into the oven to bake, now all they had to do was wait, let the cool, make sure they didn’t take like complete crap, and then get them sent off to Queen. He couldn’t help but wonder what the dark haired woman would say, would she find it sweet? If anything, he’d take sweet over pathetic, but since it was an idea coming from Deuce, he knew it would be a success, it had to be, and if not, at least he got to spend some time with one of the younger members of Class Zero, a part of his family. “I’m sure they’ll be fantastic, I mean…they looked pretty good before we put them in…” he spoke with a small shrug, leaning over slightly to gaze into the oven to see if anything had changed in the last few minutes. Nothing yet, they still had some time to kill before taking these bad boys out anyways.
After a few moments had passed, King could clearly smell them baking, they did smell good, Deuce had been spot on about that. “They do, might have to keep a few for ourselves.” He grinned at Deuce, still thankful for all her assistance. Nodding and giving off a small ‘mhm’, King gazed at the oven again, watching them as they had changed from the blobs of dough they were minutes ago into rising cooking, they hadn’t browned yet, still looking that pale dough color. He simply nodded at Deuce’s instructions, keeping his eyes on the cookies, but he didn’t have to stare at them the entire time. Standing up straight and looking over his shoulder at the bags she was holding up, he pondered it for a moment. “It doesn’t matter really, I could show up in a pair of oven mitts with the pan itself, It’s the thought that counts isn’t it?” he said arching an eyebrow before folding his arms and gazing back at the cookies, they were starting to turn a brown color, not burnt, but good to be taken out in a moment or so. “Surprise me, but I think these cookies can come out anytime now, Deuce.” He said moving to grab a pair of oven mitts. Slipping them onto his hands, he opened the oven door and pulled the baking sheet out, ready to go set it on one of the counters before letting them cool. He figured he’d judged pretty well, they looked pretty damn good! That made him feel pretty proud of himself actually.
“They look great, don’t you think?” He said tilting the pan only slightly to show her before setting them down to let them cool, keeping the mitts on his hands as he moved the cookies to a cooling rack so they’d cool off faster. Now came one last question before he bagged them and left to go find Queen and present her with these delicious delights. “Is…there any advice you can give me on what to say to her? Or just…keep to my usual silent self?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 847 Muse: Great! Tagged: Deuce! Wearing: Summer Uniform + Apron and now mitts! Moving her hands up to cup her mouth, Deuce couldn’t help but giggle a little at what King was saying. “He’s not that bad, is he?” she mused with a smile. It was quite clear to anyone that she and Nine had a huge soft spot for one another, but unlike what some strange girls around the school thought, they saw each other as siblings, and nothing more than that. With a happy nod, she grinned up at the blonde man before her, “That’s great! Thanks!” why was she thanking him? She was the one who had been helpful today, but just hearing that he was willing to spend more time like this with her made her feel all giddy and grateful. She really did love this class, they were all so wonderful in their own unique ways, and though it was hard to be equally close to all of them, Deuce still wanted to try and be as close to everyone as possible. The final stage of their cooking adventure had been reached; putting the dough in the oven and letting it work its magic while they waited. Waiting was boring, so the brunette decided to keep talking, just making chit-chat for now. A grin appeared on her face when King mentioned keeping a few cookies to themselves, “That’s what the second batch is for, you know!” she winked at him but then giggled a little, “Just kidding, but I’m sure there’s enough for us to keep a few, sure! Maybe the ones that get messed up a little, there’s usually a few of those. They don’t look as good, but they still taste the same,” tapping her chin thoughtfully, she sighed a little, “All that hard work, and we get the rejects,” she joked before getting up to get King a bag to put his cookies in, instructing him to keep an eye on the oven while she was occupied with that.
“Hmm…” she looked at both of them again, trying to decide which one was better. He was obviously right about it not mattering much, but when Deuce started something, you could count on it that she would complete it beautifully as well. “Umm…” she mused again, going over the pros versus the cons in her head before finally nodding her head proudly, “Okay, I’ve decided! A paper bag is definitely better!” she announced as she strutted back to the counter where King had placed the cookies to cool off a little. “They really do!” she agreed, taking a look into the pan before it was placed elsewhere, “We did good!” Deuce leaned down in front of the pan and blew gently to help them cool off a little faster, turning only when King asked her something. With a slight tilt of her head, she stood up straight and rested one of her fists under her chin thoughtfully, “Hm, well…” she started slowly, but then dropped her arms back to her side and just smiled, “Just be yourself. Queen likes you the way you are, so anything you say will be fine, really,” she assured him, “So long as you avoid talking about weight of any kind, since women are really sensitive to that, and if you don’t make it sound like cooking these for her was a burden, I’d say you’ll be fine regardless of what else you say.” Finishing her advice with a quick nod, she turned back to the cookies and carefully poked one of them. ”I’d say they’re about ready for sampling!” with a big grin, she offered one to King and took one for herself too. After a single bite, she beamed up with him and offered the tall blonde a thumbs up, “Well then, I’d say you’re about ready to go deliver these, no?” with that said, she offered him the bag she’d fetched earlier so he could put the cookies in. “Don’t fret too much, Queen will be really happy, I just know it!” ---------------------------------- Words: 664 Tagged: King Location: Kitchen Outfit: Class Zero Uniform Notes: <3

This was really a good time. Had King not asked her to help him, they might not have gotten the chance to hang out like this. He never would of thought about doing this on his own, luckily Deuce was a smart young woman who knew what girls thought was cute. Hopefully Queen appreciated it, and it’d be just one of those nice things you did for someone just because you wanted them to be happy. He didn’t have a specific reason for this, he just wanted to put a smile on the dark haired teen’s face with something sweet – no pun intended. “Nine can be…okay, but you’re welcome.” He said with a small nod and a small smile to match. King just wasn’t the type to be overly emotional about things, he was usually quiet and intimidating, aside from being around those he knew well and loved, like his class, mother, those people he just spent most of his time with, they got a little more emotion than anyone else did.
King chuckled at Deuce’s words, getting the rejects. It didn’t matter what something looked like, after all, wasn’t that old saying ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ coming in to play yet? If the cookie looked deformed and blobbed on there, yet still tasted the same, what was the big deal? “I guess that’s just how it goes, they seem to be okay though, from what I’m seeing.” He said with a small nod, glancing into the oven and watching them gradually rise over time, forming more into a cookie rather than a blob of sticky dough. When King thought they looked good, a nice golden brown color towards the bottom, he pulled the cookie sheet out with some oven mitts on and quickly trailed over towards a nearby counter, gazing down at them and noticing none of them seemed burnt or undercooked. In fact, he was quite proud, and this was his first shot at all of this! It definitely made the work even more rewarding in the end, and that’s when he gave Deuce a legitimate and genuine smile. “They look amazing, thank you.”
The next bit of talking was going to be helpful. King wasn’t sure what he was supposed to say or do when he went to go see Queen. If he was his usual self, it’d be more normal, and if he was a chatter box…that might scare her. Of course, Deuce already had good ideas today so the best thing to do was ask her for her opinion, after all…she was doing fantastic already at this whole ‘advice’ thing. “Alright, I can do that.” He said with another grin before picking up one of the less perfect cookies, it was warm and the smelled fantastic, fresh out of the oven cookies seemed to be the best no matter where you went. Taking a bite, King looked to Deuce and gave her a thumbs up in response to her own, nodding his head approvingly before finishing off the first cookie and carefully taking the bag she had offered to him for the cookies. Queen had better like these, that way King couldn’t eat them all. They were pretty dang good. “We’re definitely going to have to do this again sometime soon, Deuce. I appreciate all your help once again.” He said while placing the cookies into the bag, feeling a flutter of butterflies in his stomach, he was ready to deliver these to Queen.
Turning towards Deuce, King held the bag in one hand before reaching a hand to ruffle the small brunette’s hair slightly, as he did so, he grinned and took a few steps past her. “I’ll let you know how things went later, and do enjoy the cookies…I doubt Queen needs two full batches to herself.” He said before trailing out of the kitchen like a man on a mission. He was walking at a quickened pace, making a straight trip to Queen’s dorm in a matter of minutes, he wanted the cookies to be warm when he delivered them. Standing in front of the dorm door that he had been looking for, he reached one hand up and knocked a few times, his eyes going down to the floor, the bag, and soon the door again, if Queen wasn’t here…well, let’s just hope she was, otherwise all this effort had been nearly wasted! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 854 Muse: Great! Post by Queen (No. 12) on Jul 28, 2012 20:01:01 GMT -5
Queen glanced once more at the textbook she had open in front of her. She really needed to work on this assignment that she had with Trey and Nine. Nine was...well, she highly doubted that he would have anything worthwhile to say, even with her and Trey's coaching. So she needed to shine even more then usual to make up for his inept-ness. Yawning, Queen reread the paragraph she had read four times now, and then groaned, before rubbing her eyes and shutting the textbook. She could finish later. Right now, she either needed some rest - at least for her eyes - and something to eat. Her stomach had been growling for hours now. What time was it? Anywhere close to a meal time? Looking up at the clock, she sighed. Nope... But that was fine. The cooks knew that the students got hungry and usually had the kitchen stocked with food they had made, or food that you could make yourself. She knew how to cook, so even if they didn't have anything, she could make herself a little something to tide her over before supper came.
Placing the textbook back away, Queen made her way out of the library and headed on toward the kitchen. On her way she thought more of what she might do for her speech. There was plenty of things that she could do now that she had the subject down. But that was the problem. There were so many different directions that she could go, that she wasn't exactly sure which option to pick. But, granted, she had plenty of time until she had to give her presentation, so it shouldn't be a problem for her to get something together and make it sound nice. Shouldn't be any problem at all, really.
However, before she went down to the kitchen she decided that she should go to her dorm room. Walking there, Queen made it all the way inside, yawned, and put her textbook down. Before she went out to go down to the kitchen, however, Queen wandered into her own room, brushed her hair, replaced her clips, and then made toward the door. The knock, however, caused her to furrow her eyebrows. Who was it? Walking toward the door, Queen didn't hesitate, but opened it, ready for it to be Trey, wanting to talk about their project a little more. Before she got to the door, Queen had taken off her glasses to clean them on her shirt, opening the door as she reached back up to put her glasses on. For a moment her eyes needed to adjust again, before she saw who it was.
"King?", she asked incredulously. Her eyes took in his get up, from the apron, to the bag of cookies, and then back at his face. Instantly a smile lifted onto her lips. "Are those for anyone in particular?", she asked somewhat mischievously? - Or as mischievously as Queen could be -

As King waited at Queen’s door, feeling almost a bit anxious, he looked over his shoulder several times, wondering if anyone was seeing this for real. As he then looked down at himself, he realized he was still…wearing…an…apron. There was no time to fling it off now and try to look somewhat manly while holding a paper bag full of cookies, just for Queen. It was of course, the gesture that counted the most, not the actual act itself. With a deep and quick breath, King could hear Queen’s footsteps moving towards the door, the turning of the handle, and finally the door opened. He just put a small grin on his face, completely trying to forget about the part where he was still wearing an apron. It could’ve been worse, at least he didn’t have any cute moogle mitts still on his hands or anything…then he would’ve expected quite a few laughs from anyone he passed.
Who would’ve thought big strong stoic King to arrive at his girlfriend’s door with a bag of cookies in hand, an apron on, and a sheepish smile to tie it all together? It was definitely out of the ordinary, but hopefully Queen would find it…oh…sweet or something like that, after all, King had trusted Deuce’s judgment. The small brunette had to be right about this…she knew Queen well, everyone loved Deuce! If anyone had the answers for things like this it would be her, and King wasn’t having any second thoughts about that…at least not yet. “Queen.” He gave her a small nod in greeting after she had spoke his name, probably trying to figure out what the heck he was wearing, what he was carrying…and why he was here. With that sheepish smile still on his face, King gave her a slight look at her words before gazing down at the bag he held in one of his hands. Lifting it up and towards her, he passed it along to Queen, folding his arms across his chest – across the apron – after she’d had the bag. “They’re for you, I uh…thought I’d do something nice for you.”
Doing something nice, eh? Queen had to appreciate that at least, right? Moving a hand back, not looking quite as stoic without his arms across his chest, he rubbed the back of his neck and took a moment to pause. “I uh, hope you like them, to be quite honest…I had a bit of help with these.” He admitted as he continued to gaze at her, occasionally letting his eyes move to around the hallway, the floor, but ultimately they returned to see Queen’s face and reactions. The effort he’d put forth was something that needed to be respected, it wasn’t every day a man went to go bake for the woman he liked, he doubted Nine or even Eight knew how to work a kitchen…yes, an entire kitchen. Perhaps he was just raising the bar now. That thought brought a tiny smirk to his face, just thinking about the fact that he was going above and beyond the typical things to do. Score one for King. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 630 Muse: Meh Tagged: Queen now Wearing: Uniform + Apron Listening To: Stuff Notes: We can end this whenever 8'D
