It had bugged him…where had he seen this guy before? Zack had no idea really. No idea whatsoever, and it was bothering him. And then finally it dawned on him. Snapping his fingers, Zack jogged to catch up with the man that he had been talking with, shouting out his question about if he had been the one asleep in the coffin. Either he was going to get a man that was surprised that he knew about that, or he was going to get an extreme ‘you’re crazy’ look and the man would probably make a break for it. After all, asking someone if they had been asleep underground in a coffin wasn’t generally a common question. Unless, of course, a lot had changed in the social circles since he had been killed and woken up. It had only been a few short years, so it couldn’t be that much of a difference, right?
Well anyway, Zack continued to walk beside the man as he waited for the response. Zack sure hoped that he had gotten the right man instead of some random guy who gave him a blank look and disappeared. Then again, this man did know Cloud and Tifa. That meant he was probably connected to ShinRa in some way. Thinking of ShinRa only reminded him of his visit to Rufus’ office that had led him to once again become an employee of ShinRa, a SOLDIER in the program reborn. He had really only accepted because of his focus as a l’cie. He had to destroy the company, that was his focus. Or so he had determined himself. He could be wrong, but that was the only idea he’d gotten from the slight dream like vision that he had been handed. Honestly, Zack didn’t have any clue how he was supposed to accomplish this, but he would find a way. It would be so much easier to do so now that he had found a way inside the place.
So he had found the right man. With a confident little smile, Zack had to pat himself on the back –in his mind of course- that he had gotten the right memory matched with the right face. It was kind of hard to forget that certain situation. Shrugging as they walked, Zack cut his eyes over toward the dark man that walked beside him. “Well, at the time, I wasn’t exactly what you would call, able to help anyone else out. I was on the run from ShnRa and dragging Cloud’s ass around as well, since he had some bad mako poisoning then. But too…well I guess you could say that I don’t like to be woken up myself, so I figured you really wouldn’t want to be woken up either, especially if you were down in that coffin by your own free will, ya know?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 633 Muse:; Good! The boy was staring. Vincent's hackles rose subtly as those blue eyes continued to appraise him. He never had liked being looked at like a specimen. It was that creeping feeling which had always put him off scientists. They looked at everything as some sort of opportunity to explore, discover and experiment. Knowledge was power and there was nothing wrong with gathering intelligence, but when the cost was people's sanity, their genetic makeup, their very being twisted and torn then Vincent thought the price too high. Vincent didn't care for animals though. Animals existed to be eaten, to be hunted, to hunt and to eat. He didn't think any of them should be cruelly used, beaten or abused, but he was not opposed to animal testing. Drugs had to be checked first and like any self preserving human he recognised it was best if it was done on those lower on the evolutionary chain. Apparently humans have almost entirely the same genetic make-up as rats and mice: who likes rats and mice anyway? Some, Vincent supposed but not most and it was popular opinion which decided what was and was not okay.
Being stared at made Vincent feel like a specimen. Hojo used to stare for hours at a particular being, ask it questions, question himself and write down illegible notes he was sure not even the man himself could read again. Hojo's mind brilliantly held all its knolwedge stored within it. He had little use for notes anyway, which was why there was hardly ever a paper trail when it came to his projects. He always got away with doing what he wanted despite the fact it was company policy to document practically everything. Not even Shinra wanted his abominable truths splashed somewhere everyone could potentially see. Secrets came at a cost, they were never for free but Hojo never appeared to suffer any - just those around him.
Zack was now at least walking more in tandem with him that behind. His nerves ease a fraction. Well that was fair, Vincent thought, at Zack's assessment. Finally using his brain, however selfishly because he was thinking in terms of himself only. It was better than nothing though so Vincent would take what he could get. At least he wasn't accusing him loudly of starting fires in Edge for no reason other than to look like a hero afterwards. Zack will learn soon enough he hates the limelight in all directions. "Cloud did not have the same compunction," Vincent replied, though really he was done with the conversation. There was little else to say now. He was keen to get to Seventh to he might replace his singed ribbon. If he didn't replace it right away it may take him months to do so. What kind of honour was that?

Zack couldn’t say that he really had thought about waking the guy up. Honestly, he had been so freaked out when he had come upon some person locked away in a coffin, in the basement of a mansion, that he hadn’t really had any ideas, other than shutting the coffin and trying to forget what he had seen. He hadn’t had time to deal with anything else other then Cloud and trying to get them the hell away from ShinRa’s army. Selfish? Perhaps a little bit, but honestly, it wasn’t like the guy was dying. If he was locked in some coffin and not waking up when the lid was opened, then it was obvious that he wasn’t struggling to get out of that coffin. He hadn’t had the time or ability to keep himself alive, let alone drag some other man along with him and Cloud. So no, he hadn’t taken the man with him, or attempted to wake him up. Actually…hiding in some coffins wouldn’t have been such a bad idea. Maybe that’s what they should have done!
Zack couldn’t help but laugh when Vincent mentioned that Cloud didn’t have the same guilt. “Well, Cloud must not like his sleep like I do.”, he mentioned easily, walking beside the man to his right. Zack kept swiping at his clothes, attempting to get the soot and grime off of himself as they went along. He didn’t think Tifa would mind if he looked a little dirty, but then again, one never knew. He wouldn’t be picking up any kids to hug them while he looked like this, that was for sure.
Lightly slapping him on the shoulder blade, Zack motioned with his head. “Let’s get going, I’ll betcha money that Teefs has something good to eat for us, and I don’t know about you, but I’m starving!”, he stated eagerly, his blue eyes shining. His first communication with Vincent might not have gone so well, but…hey, life was about the shortcomings. All in all, he couldn’t say that he minded this guy, even if he was just a tad bit scowly-…okay, a lot scowly. At least he wasn’t attacking him or anything like that, and that little girl hadn’t minded him. That, honestly, swayed his opinion about the man more then anything else did.
