Costa de Sol. As much as Tifa liked to put of a fight whenever it called for leaving the bar for extended periods of time, she didn’t object to the idea of the sunny sea side city. She was due for a vacation, and Zack was too, what better opportunity to take a vacation than right now? With a sweet smile on her face, Tifa was agreeing to leave. No way was she going to flee and make the same mistake twice, not that being thrown over Zack’s shoulder and being carried around was necessarily a bad thing, it just sort of destroyed whatever dignity she had left at the time. She remembered the night of the fireworks when he’d actually stepped outside carrying her, now THAT was embarrassing, had anyone really seen of course, and she didn’t doubt him on anything anymore. When he said something, she’d have to take his word for it, otherwise he might just surprise her and mean everything and anything he said. Zack Fair, a real man of his word, no matter what it was he said.
Tifa did indeed enjoy being close to Zack, she of course loved the guy so with any given chance she’d like to be near him, it made her smile and made that feeling of being safe linger around a bit longer. She could easily take care of things, packing for herself, talking to Cloud, hell, even calling Costa De Sol for hotel reservations – though they were very last minute – she was sure she could handle that with no problem, but of course Zack needed to pack too, no matter how much he wanted to strut himself across the shoreline without anything on, she sure didn’t want to get thrown out, though it was slightly a funny thing to imagine. She doubted he’d actually do that anyways, just being his normal self, joking around and flaunting that ego of his. His words whispered in her ear caused her cheeks to burn red hot like fire. A small smile still lingered on her lips though, it wasn’t bad if she was blushing now, it wasn’t like she was trying to hide any feelings from him, and besides, he could always poke fun at her rosy cheeks later if he wanted to, blushing about…metal images and what not. “It’d certainly make for an interesting trip.” She added before insisting on taking care of a few things, if anything, Tifa really was a busy bee, and could multitask like no other, call it a talent if you want.
“Alrighty, sounds good to me, Zack. I’ll be there!” She smiled after having drawn away, seeming genuinely excited and after he walked out the door, she’d run and start packing right away, trying to get everything taken care of all at once. Feeling her backside swatted, Tifa jumped a bit before turning and watching Zack as he jogged out of the bar. “Don’t be late!” she reminded in a more…humorous tone than her serious insists about taking care of things. This would be fun, with Zack…anything was fun.
-------------------
On the ship, Tifa gazed at the bright sky up above her. Her hand shielding her eyes as she strolled across the deck of the ship, spotting her shirtless SOLDIER. She took a moment to stand back and admire the view, of course she could do that now and not feel bad or anything. He was very very good looking, had a great personality to match and a heart of gold, that was her opinion of course, and she was sure any other person would agree with her, at least she thought so anyways. With a smile on her face she walked over to the rail to gaze at Costa from a slight distance. They’d be there within a few minutes, and Tifa could already feel the relaxation starting to settle in. Beaming with a smile, she turned to face Zack, really excited to be here and what not, she was so glad she hadn’t fussed over this, otherwise she’d be missing out on a great opportunity. “This will be fun.” She insisted in an optimistic tone as she then turned to gaze out beyond the rail once more. She’d never really been on a vacation before, so really…this was one of those ‘first time for everything’ type of deals, who better to spend it with?
“After we check in, you wanna head to the beach first or…well…I’ve never really been on vacation here before, I’m sure you’ve been about everywhere. Standing on the edge of the ship, Zack grinned and looked out over the sea. It was nice here, the sun shining down and hitting his skin. He could feel himself relax. This was a vacation. The could do whatever the heck they wanted to, and it felt good. Actually, he didn’t know where Tifa was. He’d woken up and hit the deck, but she hadn’t been in her room, so he’d decided to go up on deck, figuring she might be here. He’d been in his shorts and a shirt, but when he’d felt the heat, he’d instantly pulled the shirt off and dumped it on a chair. Yawning, he leaned forward against the railing and looked out over the ocean. A few other people were out with him, but none of them were the dark haired bartender he’d come with. Call him a teenage boy, but he couldn’t wait to see her in a swimsuit. Speaking of which, where even was she? Peering to the sides and around him, Zack wondered if perhaps she had gone to get something to eat. That…did sound good, but then again, they should be to Costa in awhile anyway, they could always eat there. Didn’t really matter. At that moment an especially big wave hit the side and splashed up, the spray hitting him and wetting him down slightly. With a laugh, Zack stepped back and shook his head like a dog, feeling the water droplets fall onto his skin. The droplets then sparkled and he brushed a few of them off his skin.
Just then he heard the voice. Looking up, he noticed Tifa standing there. Grinning at her and hearing the optimism in her voice, he nodded and took a step closer. “You got it Babe, this is gonna be a blast.” Sliding an arm around her waist, he nodded toward the water. “Pretty isn’t it? A lot different then Edge, that’s for sure. Makes a country boy like me happy.” Grinning at her, he felt her heat warming against his already warm skin. He hadn’t had a vacation…since that last one he’d taken in Costa, which hadn’t really turned out to be much of a vacation. Speaking of which, he was glad that they hadn’t made a big issue out of him bringing his buster sword. Due to the last time he’d been here, Zack hadn’t wanted to get caught without it, in case something bad did happen. The middle aged lady that had been checking them in had looked at it, looked at him, back at the sword and hadn’t said a thing. Probably used to the SOLDIERS and Turks that had gone back and forth many, many times in the previous years.
When she asked about vacationing, Zack felt another smile pull at his lips. “The only time I’ve gone on a vacation, was in Costa, but honestly I only had a day before monsters attacked the resort and Genesis clones attacked ShinRa. Not much of a chance, besides, it was boring by myself. Your guess is as good as mine, but I suppose yeah, we should check into the hotel. After that, let’s grab something to eat and head to the beach! Unless you wanted to shop or something. There’s some nice places to buy summer clothes here.” Zack’s favorite thing wasn’t shopping, but if she wanted to do so, then he wouldn’t say no or make her feel bad for doing it. He’d been slapped around plenty by his mother for complaining while she shopped growing up. It was a lesson learned well. He remembered then, the flier he’d picked up about things to do in Costa, which he’d stuck with his shirt on the table. “Oh yeah, reminds me. Just a sec,” he said, releasing her waist and stepping back to the table. Picking up the flier with the information, he stepped back to the railing, searching it with his eyes.
Scanning it, he nudged her lightly with his elbow and pulled it down so she could see too. “Apparently there’s some aquarium where you can swim with dolphins. Sounds fun! Wanna try it?” While asking her that, his eyes were drawn to the jetskis that were on the other side of the page. Instantly the child in him started jumping up and down in excitement. “Heeeeey, check this out!” Pointing to it, he beamed, mako blue eyes twinkling. There seemed to be a ton to do here, and he just kept getting more and more excited over it. “Whatdya say? Tight watersuits and jetskis, I say that sounds fun.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 954 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Tifa ^_^ Location:; Costa Outfit:; I shall make it soon! Having come across Zack after the wave splashed up towards the rail of the boat, Tifa just smiled, she was happy to be here, the wind in her face blowing her hair around and the smell of salt water, it was surprisingly very relaxing. Of course, the ocean itself was supposed to be relaxing no matter what, unless some sort of wild storm was coming, then it was hectic, this though, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, this trip would be amazing, she could tell already. Smiling even wider as she was close to Zack once again – something she was really starting to like, and something she’d always be happy with no matter what – she gazed out at the water. It really was a good change from Edge to this beautiful sight, not to mention the company. Instead of staring at the dull awful colors of Edge, this was bright and sunny, warm and inviting, and Tifa was glad she didn’t throw a fit about leaving. “Makes me happy too, it’s nice to see some color once in awhile. Besides, it feels far more inviting out here, makes a country girl like me just as happy.” She said to sort of tie in with what he had said. After all, she was a country girl from Nibelheim, there were more similarities to compare here, kind of nice.
Asking about what to do, Tifa just gazed at Zack as he spoke. She didn’t really care what they did, so long as there was no stress involved then she would be happy. If he wanted to chill on the beach all day that’d be awesome, so long as she didn’t get sun burnt of course. If he wanted to eat at different places all day, okay, cool, if he…well you get the point. It was supposed to be a mutual agreement on things right? They’d have fun, but the last bit made Tifa laugh a bit, her shoulders rising up and down as she did so before waving a hand to dismiss that thought. She’d never torture a poor soul into making them go shopping with her, unless it was crucial, and summer clothes shopping wasn’t exactly crucial right now anyways. “We don’t have to do that, believe me. Shopping can wait for another trip, or when we get back home, something I won’t torture you with.”
They’d surely find something fun to do. Costa de Sol was the ideal vacation spot as it was, they’d have tons of things to do out here, all it took was a little effort in figuring out what those things were, and Zack was already a few steps ahead of Tifa. Having let her go and went for a small brochure looking thing, why hadn’t she thought of looking at one of those? Oh well, peering down at it after being nudged, her eyes scanned the entire thing, looking for the different attractions they had here in Costa, it’d be really neat to get to all of them, but if time was permitting of course. Smiling at the different activities, Tifa replied. “Sure, it does sound like fun, might as well experience anything you can right?” she was game for just about anything this place had to offer, swimming, observation, anything and everything. With a small laugh, she could easily see that Zack was excited about jetskis and the exciting picture they had on the flier. “That sounds like it’d be really exciting, I’m definitely game for that one. I just hope you can keep up.” She said with a small smirk on her lips, waggling her own eyebrows a bit at the thought of jetskis. THAT would really be fun.
With one loud sound from the boat, the horn going off to signal that it had been easing into the docking station, Tifa glanced around her at the shoreline, the docks and the people already swarming the sand. “Come on!” Tifa was more childlike as she pointed towards where they were supposed to get off, their bags would be handed out once they’d gotten to the dock, instead of having lug it out themselves. Trotting towards the dock and carefully moving down the slanted wood that would lead her from the boat to the actual dock itself, Tifa glanced around and felt more excited than she had been a few moments ago. First thing was first, checking into the hotel, and then maybe some food and beach time? That sounded like an awful lot of fun, and then maybe they could figure out what to do with the rest of the trip, aquarium and jet skis, all that fun stuff could be planned out this evening since doing anything like that would be far too late notice. “Are you coming, slow poke?” she spoke as a boat staff member handed her a few bags, one for her and she slung it over her shoulder, excited as could be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 933 Muse: Great! Sometimes he forgot that Tifa was a country girl the same as he was a country boy. She did, after all, seem at home in the city of Edge. Then again, he supposed he did too. It wasn’t by choice. No, he didn’t really want to be in the city. Hell, one day he’d like to have a big family in some country home, watching all the young whipper snappers playing in the miles they had at their disposal. It was a nice thought. He didn’t want any of hi kids growing up on the streets of Edge. The city was hard enough on the adults of the world, but the kids really shouldn’t have to deal with it at all. No, he didn’t want them to have to do so. Pausing slightly, Zack smiled over at Tifa. “A little color is nice. I dunno about anyone else, but I get pretty tired of that dull grey and brown all over the city. Hell, I like trees and the green that’s here. I don’t like the city, really I don’t. I’d rather live in the country if at all possible. Just…a temporary thing, ya know? Someday…I’ll live back out there instead of in the hustle and bustle of the blasted city. I don’t quite understand why people want to live there.”
Being the nice guy he was, Zack offered to go shopping if that was what she wanted. Zack really couldn’t care less about shopping, and definitely didn’t need to do so in order to have fun. No, if anything, he’d like to stay as far away from that as he possibly could. But Tifa was a woman, and from past experience, he would say that women seemed to like shopping much more then the average man. So if that was something she wanted to do, then so be it, he wasn’t going to stop her. He’d even support her. There had to be good moments, right? Like…they had to try on clothes, and would need help. Correct? He’d like to help her zip up a few clothes from the back that she couldn’t reach. He’d like to do that a great amount. But he could do that at the hotel too, and besides that, he’d rather be swimming then back in the stuffy changing room. So he held his breath and hoed that she would refuse his overly kind gesture. Which she did. Letting out a sigh of relief, Zack nodded and grinned down at her. “Thanks Babe, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to a shopping trip.” But he would have done it willingly if it made her happy.
Remembering the pamphlet though, Zack opened it and showed her what he had found to do in the great city of Costa. Pointing at the waterskis, Zack would be a liar if he didn’t admit that it was probably what seemed the most attractive feature of all of Costa…those water skis right there. Grinning over at her, he waited to see what she had to say. Really, anything she wanted to do they could do. He was going to drag her to a few places, so if there was anything she wanted to do, then he wanted her to just say the word. After talking up the waterskis, he got excited when she mentioned that it would be fun. Fistpumping slightly, he then heard what else she had to say. “Oh no you don’t. Keep up? Me? It’s gonna be you tryin’ to keep up, at least if I don’t take it easy on ya.” Grinning from ear to ear, his eyes sparkled and he felt like pulling her back into his arms for another kiss. This was just so…easy and free. She made him feel alive, and with his past of being dead or a monster, it would be damn nice to feel that way.
“I’m coming, I’m coming, no need to shout Babe.” At the ‘slow poke’, Zack laughed, picked up his shirt and the pamphlet and started after her. “I’m comin’ speed demon. We’re on vacation, ya know, you can stop walking like we’re gonna circle the globe.” Trotting to catch up with her, Zack slipped an arm around her waist, pulled his sunglasses down over his eyes and grinned down at her. “Alright, first things first. We headin’ to the hotel to get all our junk settled in?” Letting go of her, he grabbed his own stuff and hefted it up, following her and then nodding. He’d been to Costa plenty of times, but always on missions. The place they were going was the place he’d gone to on vacation. Nodding, he grinned. “This way.” Pausing he raised his eyebrow. “Now who’s the slowpoke? Hmmm?”

It would be a lie to say that Tifa wasn’t enjoying the view, of course she was also enjoying the view of Costa de Sol aside from the view of one Zack Fair. With a small smile on her lips, she gazed out at the bright and colorful location that awaited them. She was thoroughly excited to get away from the city for a few days, and she was sure by the end of the trip, she wouldn’t want to go out. Nodding in agreement to Zack’s words, Tifa couldn’t agree more. She missed the simple life of living in Nibelheim, not all the hustle and bustle of Edge, it was far too dark and too far into despair to enjoy, but you had to live with where you were and make do with what you had. Sometimes you didn’t have a choice. “I know what you mean. I miss Nibelheim so much...life was simple, everyone knew each other and there was never anything to worry about. Edge is…not that. Maybe someday things will get better around town, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on that one.” She said with a small bit of disappointment in her voice, oh well…if the opportunity came so that she could move back to her beloved hometown, or something similar, she’d do it in a heartbeat.
It wasn’t everyday you had a man who was willing to go shopping with you, while the gesture was very sweet and kind and very…Zack-like, Tifa wasn’t going to torture him, besides, this was a vacation for relaxation, not being huddled in a small dressing room looking for clothes that she may or may not buy. With a smile still on her lips, she gave a small laugh at him. Sometimes Zack could be too nice, and she appreciated everything he did and all the kind things he did for her. Sometimes it was hard to imagine repaying him for all the kindness, but Tifa tried her very best. “No problem, to be quite honest, shopping doesn’t exactly sound fun in comparison to what I’m looking at, the beach…it’s gotta be ten times better than checking out clothes.” She gave a small shrug as her eyes continued to gaze out at the water and the sand that was in her vision. It was nice and toasty out, sunny and cheerful almost, something else she greatly appreciated.
The pamphlet had many different fun looking things on it, and they all seemed to grab the monk’s attention. As Tifa peered over Zack’s shoulder slightly at it, she was smiling even wider, liking the idea of waterskis. In fact, she was pretty excited for something like that, it wasn’t something she ever pictured herself doing, but hey! This was living life to the fullest, right? Celebrating life, in her own words. With a smirk on her lips now, a challenging tone in her voice as she raised an eyebrow. “Now now, I wouldn’t be too complacent, Zack. I’m going to make you eat those words, you know. Never underestimate me.” She added quite amused as the boat came to a stop at the docks, ready for people to start filing off and get the hell out, in nicer words of course.
Tifa started off, going to collect her bag and wait on Zack, who she was clearly calling a slow poke, well, that’s what he was, and it kept a smile on her face. “Yes, but I want to get to the exciting things already, you can’t blame a girl for being eager to hit the beach, right?” Here in Costa, she felt at peace, like nothing bad was going happen, in fact, she was sure she could be at the icicle inn and still feel at peace, so long as Zack was with her. He really was her ideal SOLDIER wasn’t he? The one she really longed for to save her whenever she was in a bind, though her best friend hadn’t done a bad job, she just had a clearer idea of what she wanted. Losing herself in her thoughts, Tifa blinked at the slow poke comment and moved to catch up with Zack, her bag over her shoulder as she made it to him, still beaming with a smile, never had she felt so relaxed before, so…peaceful and happy, this was the best vacation ever, and it had barely even started!
After checking into the hotel and dropping off their stuff, Tifa was ready for the beach. Of course she needed a few minutes to get changed and stuff, but now, she was all for hitting the sand, it was still nice and sunny and warm, what better thing to do than lay out and soak up the sun? With dark sunglasses over her eyes, she gripped a beach towel under her arm, her tank top and shorts still in place but a swimsuit underneath. She gazed around outside near the sand, looking around for one dark haired SOLDIER, probably doing squats or something, that wouldn’t surprise her. Oh well, until she spotted him, she’d go find a place to sit and enjoy the warmth this place had to offer. Placing her towel – big enough to be a blanket – out on the sand, she plopped herself onto it, folding her legs and just gazing around, seeing a few happy people running up and down the shore, a sight she appreciated compared to the ones she saw back home, again, she thanked herself for not putting up a fight, this was a well needed vacation after everything they’d been through. Now…where oh where was Zack? Tifa needed someone to help her with this sunscreen, unless she wanted to get burnt. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1064 Muse: Great! Tagged: Zack! At her mention of Nibelheim, Zack stilled and glanced over to watch her. In all his days, even while they were now dating and an item and all that good stuff, he had never heard her talk of Nibelheim. Not that he could blame her. With all that had happened on that fateful day back in that little sleepy town, it really was no surprise that she probably wanted to still the memories that might still burn in her mind. With that, he felt a flash of guilt. It had been his duty as Sephiroth’s comrade to take him down and destroy him before he could have killed anyone. Tifa’s father should have been alive now. Zack should have found Sephiroth and killed him before he ever reached that reactor. Back in the burning…no, before, he should have done that. Like a rabid dog, he should have killed him in any way he had been able. Still, it was easier said then done, putting a sword in the back of a fellow comrade, or a bullet into their brain. Yes, easier said then done. Despite that though, he should have killed him. He shouldn’t have let that whole incident happen. Feeling the need to apologize on his lip, he knew that she would just deny his feeling guilty, and bit back saying sorry. This was a vacation, no time to dwell on the sadness that had been dealt to them. Instead he took her hand and squeezed it gently. “Maybe some day, we’ll live back in some sleepy little country town instead of the big city,” he said with a comforting smile, not noticing that he had said ‘we’.
Zack couldn’t lie when he felt that…well to be quite honest, a shopping trip had left him feeling a little pale around the gills. It wasn’t something a man wanted to do, spend his time carrying his girlfriends clothes and standing there while she tried on a ton of outfits. Sure, he wanted her to look damn good, but he wanted her to get the clothes to do so when he didn’t have to be involved in it. Being included was nice, and he would have done so to make her happy, but he wasn’t going to deny the sharp feeling of relief when she mentioned that she wasn’t going to force him to shop with her. “Oh good,” was all he said after she had stated that she wouldn’t force him to shop with her today and that the beach sounded much better. How did one guy get so lucky as this? Hell, his girl wasn’t the type to drag you shopping. It didn’t get much better then that.
Grinning at her when she told him not to underestimate her, he nodded, but the devilish little look was still up on his features. “Oh I’ve learned my lesson plenty of times in that area. I think the last time I started something with you, a certain kitchen was turned into a complete wreck, never mind how I looked.” Then again, she had looked just as messy in appearance as he had. The time spent with her drew up fond memories in his head. Hell, how had he not seen what he was feeling for her back then? The laughing, the fun they’d had, and-…well hell, he really should have seen it back then. Seen that he wanted her, and that she wanted him back. Funny how that l’cie business had blinded them both.
Chuckling at her eagerness, Zack would be a liar if he wasn’t feeling the same exact way. “Alright, alright, keep your panties in a bundle Babe, we’ll get there soon.” And as he walked by her, Zack couldn’t resist reaching out a hand and subtly goosing her, however one subtly did that. A cheeky grin was up on his face as he did so, winking at her and then lengthening his stride in order to get away from whatever punch she would send his way until they got into the hotel building and safety. (As she couldn’t punch him in front of everyone…right?)
Smiling at her, Zack went up to change into the proper attire. Standing in front of a full length mirror, Zack gazed at himself, mako blue eyes gazing right back. He had to admit, he looked in as good a shape as he ever had been. He was still, he reminded himself, in his prime. Hell, of course he’d better look good still! Tossing a towel over his shoulder and stuffing his hands in his pockets, he left the hotel room and headed for the beach, figuring she would show up soon. He didn’t think she was the type to spend hours on making herself look ready enough, but one couldn’t be sure, at least when it came to females. Stepping onto the beach brought a sigh to his lips. He felt naked without his sword, thinking about what had happened the last time he had been here. Eyes were drawn to an umbrella tied up on a table. They had made such good weapons, he was surprised someone hadn’t made an umbrella sword in his honor yet. Grinning, Zack was walking when suddenly out of nowhere a volleyball hit him in the back of the head.
Grunting, Zack glanced up to see a volleyball game going on nearby. He hadn’t played that in…well sheesh, it’d been a long time. Getting up and dusting himself off, Zack picked up the ball and jogged over toward them, tossing the ball over. “Here ya go!” “Thanks bro! Hey! Wanna join us a game?” Well…glancing over his shoulder and scanning the beach, he didn’t see Tifa. “Alright, I’ll play a bit while I wait for my girl.” Jogging to a position they pointed him to, Zack flexed his hands and then got into position. The first ball was set for him. With a running jump he spiked it down, reacting without even thinking. Blinking then, he stared at the ball and then at his hands as his team slapped him on the back. Grinning at them, he continued to play for a bit as his side got ahead by a large number. It was slaughter really. Despite playing though, his eyes were seeking out Tifa. Right as the game point was made, he spotted her, mouth getting dry instantly. Realizing he was staring and holding onto the volleyball, Zack appreciated the sight before noticing the other men openly gawking at her too. Tossing the ball at one of the men’s heads, he heard the satisfying ‘smack’ and grinned as the man almost flopped on his butt. “Yo. Stop starin’ at my girl,” he said good naturedly, knowing the men couldn’t help themselves. The reactions he got made him swell with pride to be able to point to such a beauty and go ‘That’s my girl.’ Grinning at the men he had been playing with, Zack saluted and edged around them asking him to play another game. “Another time guys! I’ll catcha later,” he said over his shoulder as he jogged toward where she was approaching. “Heya Babe! Miss me?”, he cheekily asked, grinning down at her, shirtless and puffing slightly from the game he’d just played. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1418 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Tifa, random bro moments? The idea of living back in a small town like Nibelheim or Gongaga, it was a soothing thought. Tifa didn’t mind the city all that much, but she disliked it more and more with each passing day. The horrors she saw of children on the street fending for themselves…it was heartbreaking, she wanted the small town life where everyone knew everybody, people got along and there was that friendly little town feeling. She didn’t want to remain surrounded by the horrors of Edge and the ruins of Midgar. Gazing at Zack, she’d caught the ‘we’ part, smiled, yet said nothing about it. That too was a comforting thought. “Maybe someday.” She agreed with a nod before her gaze turned back to the water, the shore ahead, and her thoughts flew miles away from here, to the idea of country living again, small towns, a family…a future worth looking forward to, rather than count down the days until death, no longer being l’cie made all of this possible. A happy future.
Moving from the edge of the boat to look at this pamphlet thing Zack had gotten, Tifa thought the activities that Costa had to offer looked rather exciting, and these days…a little excitement was exactly what everyone needed. A smirky grin on her face as she advised Zack not to underestimate her, it was true. “A certain kitchen did get wrecked, but I will say that was one of the more…fun moments in my life. So really, if you want to underestimate me go ahead, it’ll only turn out to be surprising when I make you eat water when I pass you on those waterskis.” Tifa grinned, as if she was confident, and she was, and she sure showed it. In her mind already she was giving herself a small pep talk, about how she needed to concentrate when this time came around, she wanted to prove her words correct, and once again, show that you never underestimate Tifa Lockhart!
Now it was time to get going, and after all of this competitive talk and idea about relaxing, Tifa was more eager to get going than ever! Ever since the fireworks night when Zack and nearly dragged her there by carrying her over his shoulder, she’d had a bit more of an open mind about leaving the bar behind for a few days even, she trusted the young blonde girl, Terra, whom she had hired before all this L’Cie crap went downhill, and she knew Terra would take good care of the place. Not to mention, the kids were there and knew how things worked. Ask Tifa, and she’ll tell you Marlene was the best little helper there ever was. Nevermind that though, Tifa had her bag over her shoulder – she wasn’t an excessive packer unlike most women – and just felt like charging towards the hotel at full speed ahead, but instead, she didn’t want to seem like some over excited child who’d never been on a vacation here before, so, walking at Zack’s side it was! With a smile on her face, eyes glancing in every direction with each step she took, she couldn’t help but laugh silently at Zack’s words. They’d get there soon- did he just…
“Zack Fair!”
And of course he had the right idea to lengthen his stride. Tifa just let her eyebrows furrow some as that smile still remained on her face, picking up her own pace to catch up with him, not going to throw any sort of smack, even upside the head since they were around people, he was a guy though, could you really blame him? Yes, yes you could. Shaking her head and sighing a little bit, she trailed behind the soldier, ready to go up and change, and that’s what she did, set down her bag, got ready, and trotted down to the beach, Zack was probably there already, after all…a girl has to look nice, even for the beach, right?
Having gotten to the beach, Tifa had her sunglasses over her eyes, a hand trying to block the sun from her view to help her see better along with the help of her shades. Her dark red eyes searched through the man people on the beach, looking for her SOLDIER, she saw a few people laying out, some already moving into the water, and a volleyball game not too far. Taking a few steps to watch, she could see the game was pretty good, and that’s when she recognized Zack in the game. It brought another smile to her lips, just standing idly by and watching, letting him get some game time in would be nice, and it was entertaining to her, especially since he was doing a really good job at helping his team slap the other team around. Shifting her weight as she stood there, a towel under her arm and a bag over her shoulder, she grinned, still watching the game until she had become noticed. A couple sets of eyes came her way aside from Zack’s, and the volleyball to the head thing caused her to raise a hand to her lips, to keep herself from laughing, her lips twitched with the urge to laugh at just everything that was going on here. The volleyball, the realization that she was in Costa De Sol with Zack…it was still hard to grasp, but it seemed like it would be a fun time, already it had been.
“But of course! Did you have fun?” Tifa asked upon her approach, gesturing towards the guys with the volleyball and net with a nod. It looked like he had been having fun, and if they were there later, perhaps they would be up for a game, Tifa wouldn’t mind watching again, it was fun, and she could be the perfect Zack-Fair-Fanclub of course. The sight was amazing, not just Costa, but the happiness that simply radiated off of people. It was nice, refreshing, and people seemed carefree, that was exactly what…well everyone needed these days. “I need your help with something, if you don’t mind. I don’t want to get burnt out here, so…” she shrugged before trotting along the sand to find a place to ‘set up camp’ for the day with her beach towel and blanket. Once she found a spot that would suffice for now, she laid out her blanket, set her bag on it and plopped down, pulling out a bottle of sunscreen. “And if you didn’t put any on, you’ll burn too. But like I said, I need help. I can’t reach my back…so I figured you’d be the perfect man for the job.” She said grinning almost mischievously as she tossed the bottle towards him. What man wouldn’t want to take up the offer to rub in sunscreen on a girl’s back and shoulders? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1261 Muse: Great! Tagged: Zack! After he goosed her Zack grinned when she shouted his name. Whirling around and jogging backwards, he lifted his head and gave her a wink. “Don’t lie and say you didn’t like it Babe, or I’ll have to do it again,” he yelled back, before turning and disappearing into the hotel. Dumping his stuff in a corner and kicking it over, Zack fished out his clothes and got into them. Yawning, he stretched and checked himself out in the mirror. Perhaps it was a bit vain, but he was impressing a girl here, he had to look his best, right? Running a hand through his long spiky hair, he gave himself a grin, noticed that he still had just as muscular a body as always and turned to leave. Dumping his old clothes on his bags, he slipped into his sandals, slung a towel over his shoulder and headed to the beach. He would wait for Tifa but he didn’t know if she had already left or what was happening with her. So he decided to head to the beach. If she needed to find out what was happening she could always call him. Make him eat water? Tch, Tifa didn’t know who she was talking to here! Zack wasn’t about to let anyone make him eat water. If anyone would be doing any of that, it would be her, not him. He couldn’t help but grin bigger and bigger at the thought. No matter what happened, they were going to have a blast.
With the sun on his bare shoulders and chest, Zack sighed in relief and spread his arms wide, soaking up the sun. Before he knew it though, he was in a game of volleyball. Running and diving, Zack got full of sand, laughing good naturedly at the guys and the game. Despite not having played in awhile he was still as good as ever with it. Hell, the last time he had played had been before he had left for SOLDIER back in Gongaga with all the kids of the place. Colliding with a team mate of his, Zack found himself rolling across the sand. Finally coming to a stop, he pushed himself up on his hands and knees. Laughing, he pushed himself up and offered a hand to the guy, who gladly took it, laughing himself. Reaching up, he brushed the sand out of his hair, watching it drop back to the ground. “Yo, watch out next time, would ya, clumsy bag a’ bones?” “You too fatty,” came the reply, which sent them back into a fit of laughter. Finally slapping him on the back, Zack was thrown the volleyball, but finally noticed Tifa standing there. Grinning, Zack stared at her, noticed the others staring and threw the volleyball at one of the men. As he jogged away Zack heard their pleas behind him. “Hey! Bring your girl and play a few more games.” Rolling his eyes, he shot a “Nice try!”, over his shoulder and then came up to Tifa.
Panting lightly, his eyes sparkled when he got close, appreciative eyes checking out what she was wearing. He liked this look on her a lot. Hearing her own question he nodded. “Ahh, that? Yeah! Hadn’t played since before I left Gongaga, but it was. We can always play some later if you want to. They were…definitely not against me bringing you along,” he said absent mindedly. Needed help? Well Zack was the hero, he would gladly help his little lady out with whatever she needed, and maybe some that she didn’t.
When she laid down, Zack found himself catching a bottle of sunscreen. Looking down at it and then at her, he matched her mischievous smile and shrugged. “Oh I dunno, I don’t think I can bother myself to help ya out here girly. We might have to find someone else who can. Say like-…” Kneeling beside her, Zack scanned the beach, his mako blue eyes finally settling on a rather obese man, wearing trunks that were just a tad bit too tight. Nudging her, he gestured toward him. “-That guy for instance. I’m sure he can help ya out in terms of sunscreen.” Squirting out some of the sunscreen, Zack busied himself with bending over her and rubbing it between his hands to warm it up. Laying his hands on her back then, he started to rub, getting it even and smooth on her silky skin. This was driving him to distraction. Shaking his head and getting his focus back, he finally finished his task – taking just a little longer then needed- and put the sunscreen down, putting the rest of the sunscreen on his shoulders and face. With another trouble making grin, Zack, still kneeling, scooped her up in his arms, an arm under her knees and back and turned around, starting for the water at a fast clip. “Hmmm, I wonder what that water feels like,” he taunted slightly, making his way closer and closer to the docks that went out into the water, the sun kissing their skin as it started high into the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1033 Muse:; Great! It was nice to see Zack enjoying himself with his…newfound pals on the beach. Tifa simply stood by quietly and enjoyed the game, or the end of the game that was. Attention was quickly turned to her and she almost felt bad for interrupting a good bit of fun, but there was no reason why Zack couldn’t stick around for a few more games, she enjoyed the sight and was happy to see him having fun. Oh well, he could always come back later while she was laying out and doing nothing all that exciting. With a smile on her face, she tilted her sunglasses up to rest on top of her head as she gazed at Zack, nodding slightly and appreciating the fact that a good time had been experienced already. “You can come back anytime you want, I’m not much of a volleyballer as it is.” She shrugged slightly as she shot a glance over towards the guys who were starting a new game, her eyes instantly flickering back to Zack, shaking her head as she was sure she’d be eating more sand than scoring points.
After having tossed the sunscreen at Zack, Tifa plopped herself on the ground, making herself as comfortable as possible as she pulled her ponytail away from her back, turning her head a bit and looking over her shoulder, raising an eyebrow as he pointed out the least likely man to help her with this. Shrugging her shoulders she just kept her grin up. “I don’t think he’s right for the job, but if you don’t want to, I’m sure some of your volleyball buddies wouldn’t mind helping me out?” She flashed a smile back at him before turning back and keeping her hair away from her back still, waiting, wanting to be ready for the day at the beach and just lay out, maybe tan some, check out the water soon and not fry. Welp, it wasn’t a few seconds later that she was getting sunscreen’d. With a successful smile on her face as she faced the water and other people on the beach, she chimed back a quick “thank you” while she was trying to get situated and comfortable, ready to lay out in the warm sun but…someone had other plans, of course.
Being scooped up without warning, Tifa blinked for a second, well, at least he hadn’t thrown her over his shoulder, that would’ve been even more embarrassing than having it happen in Edge. Her mind was already on the right track as to where this was going. Kicking off her flip flops towards her stuff, she took a glance at Zack’s face, her own face turning maybe a shade paler than it was. He was going to dump her in the water, wasn’t he? It should’ve been expected. When he spoke, that was just confirming her theory. With a small nod to herself, she looked up at the very handsome SOLDIER, a raised eyebrow as she shook her head slowly at him. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing! Don’t do it…” she said as she glanced at the water, they were getting closer to the docks and right now it wasn’t like she could get free from his grasp. She hadn’t wanted to test the water temperature, and if she had, it would’ve been just her feet, otherwise now she was going to end up soaking but…hey, if she was going down, she was taking him with her.
“This is evil.” Tifa commented with a sigh as the water was even closer now, all she had to do was brace herself for the chilly water – at least chilly to her compared to the sun that was beating down on her skin already – and suck it up. Clasping her hands together, lacing her fingers with one another, around Zack’s neck, she shot him a charming smile, sounding as sweet as she possibly could in the process of her next words. “Just remember, what goes around comes around, Mr. Fair." She was going to have to plot later on how to get him back for this, by making him really eat water when they were on those waterskis. That would be the greatest revenge ever, to beat someone at something…especially a cocky and confident someone, that was sure to deflate some of that huge ego! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 836 Muse: Great! Oh hell no! “Tch, no way they’re touchin’ you, though I’m sure they wouldn’t mind helping out. Thankfully, your hero, Zack Fair, is also happy to assist with whatever you need, especially if it has to do with sunscreen and a tan back.” Yes, Zack would be more then happy to assist her with whatever it was that she needed. This...especially. Zack couldn’t really imagine why he’d end up with a girl like Tifa, other then being a completely sexy beast that had the swag and charisma of a god like man. Yeah, so maybe he could see how he’d gotten someone like Tifa. Well the point was that Zack couldn’t believe that he had a girl like her. He wished he had his parents still alive. Well hell, he didn’t know they were dead. Until he didn’t know, then they would be still alive. As soon as the business got completely under way and he could take a few days off from it, let Kunsel run the place, if he could handle it. With a few days off, he would go searching for his parents. Searching in the hopes of finding them. Perhaps the city had a record of people that had died. He would look there, and if he couldn’t find his parents names, then he would start looking. He would like to walk into their house with Tifa on his arm. Well…he would see, maybe he would find them. As he rubbed the sunscreen on her body a smile lifted onto his lips. Maybe the future was even brighter then he had thought originally.
A devilish smile lifted onto his features then, before he scooped her up and started toward the water. They were in Costa. There was obviously more then just the sunshine in Costa! There was water. Glorious water. Oh heck yeah. Keeping a tight grip on her – to avoid her managing to escape on him – Zack kept his fast clip toward the water. He was a strong guy, hard work had taken care of that, but he didn’t doubt that if she really wanted to get away from him, she would find her way to try and beat him up. Good thing he had gotten plenty of hand to hand combat training while a SOLDIER, otherwise he would have a problem. And he’d probably have a problem anyway. He wasn’t used to having such a kickass girlfriend. Now he’d have to watch his tongue and make sure not to say anything offensive. That would probably include anything about dissing the female gender. He wouldn’t doubt she would hand his ass to him and look great while she did it. And so, those sexist comments – not that he had any – could just stay to himself, even if he was just kidding. Pushing her buttons might prove to be lethal.
For a second he watched her features. At first she looked almost puzzled that he had picked her up, but that quickly changed once it dawned on her what he was doing. Even had to state it to him. Grinning cheekily, he shrugged one shoulder. “Oh you know what I’m doing, hmmm?” Waggling an eyebrow, Zack just continued on, purposeful strides toward the water. Oh yes, he was going to do this, right here, right now! And he just grinned wide at the mental image. Oh yes, it was definitely go time right now. “What did you say? Do it? I can’t hear you over the sound of my own awesome,” the same wide grin on his face. Cocky? Yes, but she must already know that. Confidence was a total draw! Right?
When she told him that it was evil, he started laughing, walking up the stairs for the dock and continuing toward the end. “It’s not evil, Heroes can’t be evil ya know.” Yup, it was times like this that you pulled the hero card. Well, some hands clasped around his neck didn’t hurt in her plea. Neither was the charming smile. Too bad he was getting used to the smiles. Standing at the edge of the dock, he cocked his head to the side. “Oh…well in that case…” he started, face serious, almost like he was thinking of giving it up. “In that case I guess I’ll just have to-“ leaning down, he couldn’t resist kissing her, face inches from his own. Drawing back, he continued on with a wicked green. “Carry on.”, and tossed her in. Hands went on his waist for a moment, before he backed up, got himself ready, and finally took off toward the end of the dock. At the last moment he pushed off. “Booooyaaaaaahhh!!!”, he shouted, tucking his legs up and linking his hands around them a moment before he hit the water, creating a big splash. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 995 Muse:; Great! Tifa had been spot on with her assumptions. A smirky smile appeared on her lips as she sat there, facing out towards the water, this was a victory of course, but still, she was too happy out here with Zack. It was definitely going to be a different experience, never having really been out here before or on a vacation in a long time…it was well needed and well deserved for the both of them, especially after all the l’cie crap they had just been through, this was…this was amazing, it was nice and relaxing already and they’d only just gotten here. This was going to be one of those times in life where Tifa wouldn’t want to go home, after all, Costa De Sol was supposed to be a stress free environment, to make everyone happy, and so far Tifa believed that those rumors were true. Everything about this place screamed stress free and relaxation, that was what they wanted.
“My hero, thank you very much.” She said chipperly when the adding of sunscreen to her back and shoulders was taken care of, but shortly after, she’d been scooped up from the ground and into Zack’s arms. He was going to try something, she just knew it! After having kicked off her shoes, Tifa was just…waiting. She watched as the water got closer and closer, she knew what he was attempting. Furrowing her eyebrows and smirking slightly, she did her best to try and weasel her way out of getting dumped into the water, but knowing Zack, there were no amount of words that would stop him once he got his mind on something. Shaking her head and not even trying to squirm away, Tifa knew it was going to happen eventually, getting in the water. Maybe not like this, but it was a start right? A vacation was all about having fun, something she believed Zack knew everything about. Sighing with a laugh at the end, she just settled in his arms and made herself comfortable during the trip from the sand to the dock, bracing herself for what could be absolutely cold water, but then again…maybe not? “You can’t hear me over the sound of your own…aweso- I think someone’s ego has inflated not slightly, but a great amount.” She said lifting a hand to pat his chest slightly before her eyes turned from him, looking out at the water, the water she would be making contact with any minute now.
Nearing the edge of the dock, Tifa did her best to be charming. The smile the arms around his neck, and just everything about her she tried to talk or ‘look’ her way out of getting tossed into the water, and for a split second, that serious expression on his face made her believe that she had won. But…moments later, her face was kissed, it was right there she knew she’d lost. Anything with Zack was a losing battle if it involved something like this. As she was tossed from his arms, she gasped in a quick breath and felt the water engulf her with a splash. A hand reached up to grab her sunglasses that were slipping from her head as she floated back to the top of the water, only to be splashed with more salt water from Zack’s leap into the water. With eyes closed and treading water, Tifa wiped her hair away from her face and placed her sunglasses back on top of her head before opening her eyes, blinking some of the salt away as she looked around, almost dazed, trying to spot one SOLDIER who was going to get it.
Looking around for a few moments, she then spotted him, a small smile appeared on her lips as she quietly sank back down under water, gliding towards where Zack was before popping her head up out of the water for a small breath, and in the process she wrapped her arms around his waist from behind, a sigh escaped from her lips as she held onto him. “I’m going to get you back for that, Zack, somehow, someway…just remember that.” She advised in a very chipper sing-song voice, having gotten used to the water and not minding being thrown in as much anymore…as stated before, it was bound to happen sometime anyways, might as well get it done and over with, right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 822 Muse: great! Him? Ego? Naaaaah! Zack shook his head at that ridiculous statement. “Who me? Have an ego? I beg to differ young lady,” he started, pretending he had spectacles to adjust. “I would like to think of myself as a humble man. A very…lowly man, meek. I have no idea where you would get this idea that I had an ego. No no, I really do think that you’ve mistaken me for someone else.” He went on, mocking himself. Zack knew that he had an ego, knew it, and embraced it. Still, he couldn’t help but tease her. Besides, he wasn’t as bad as some people. Like…take Reno for instance! Zack wasn’t nearly as bad as him. Okay, so he might be, but at least he had a lovable ego! It had to count for something, right? Right! So yes, his ego might have become bigger, but only slightly. And really, Tifa had played a big part in his ego inflating, so it wasn’t like she could say anything in that area or regard.
Carrying her over toward the water, Zack finally grinned and tossed her directly in, following suit by jumping in himself with a hearty yell. Of course, that drew attention, but people quickly shrugged and went back to minding their own business, not caring about the young couple. This was Costa, they saw plenty of young, in love couples pass by here daily…weekly, yearly. It didn’t really create a stir to have one more of them hanging out. Popping back up after he had cannonballed in, Zack flipped his head, trying to get the water from out of his face and finally rubbing his eyes to get it out. Blinking a few times, he saw Tifa there and swam toward her lazily, a few strokes from his strong arms carrying him quite close. When he got close however, he turned to glance over his shoulder, peering around to make sure they were more or less alone. At that moment, he felt strong, yet soft arms slip around his waist. Well hell…he could get used to this. And that was the problem. He could really get used to this. Too much so.
Turning himself around and scooting, Zack held onto her with a strong arm and swam toward the shore more with his other arm, grinning at her. If he could capture this moment forever, he would. With the hair reflecting off her shining hair, a definite sparkle in her eyes. Yup…this was a picture perfect moment. When he could reach – though she might not be able to – Zack settled his feet on the ground and just held her in his arms. It never ceased to amaze him how she could be the perfect balance between muscles, or hard, and feminine, or soft. This was part of the reason the female body was just so nice. And it always would be nice.
A husky laugh left his mouth when she mentioned that she would be getting him back. Closing his eyes and leaning his head back until all his hair was under the water, he lifted his head back up and shook his hair out lightly. “Oh, you will, will you?” Smiling, he opened his eyes, caught again at the beauty she displayed, the sun hitting her skin and hair just right. He really could get used to this. Shaking off the thought, Zack leaned forward, lifting his eyebrow mischievously. “I look forward to this time when you think that you can get me back. Actually, I was counting on you wanting to get me back.” Lowering his voice to a whisper, he winked at her. “Do whatever you want, I’ll even let ya get me back.”

Zack? Not have an ego? This was complete rubbish, but it brought a smile towards the bartender. She simply shook her head and placed a hand over her face, internally holding back laughs as she was preparing herself as well for what was coming. The water…it was something Tifa hadn’t wanted to jump right into, but the vacation was all about having fun, and already she was having a blast, so of course she needed to just take it like a man- er…woman and get thrown into the water, which she did, with quite a nice splash before resurfacing and gasping, moving her hands around to rub the water from her eyes and the hair from her face. Treading water there for a second, she had been caught by the splash that Zack made as well, having to remove water from her face and hair away from blinding her once more. With a laugh, she turned a bit, trying to spot Zack and maybe try to tackle him into the water, but that was mighty difficult without being able to touch the ground. He was going to get it sometime though!
Having settled for simply wrapping her arms around his waist, she could float there and not have to use as much effort to tread now, simply enjoying the cool water but also the warmth of the sun. Okay, so getting tossed into the water wasn’t so bad, but how was she supposed to get back at Zack for that? Perhaps the water skis, that would be her victory. With a deep sigh of relaxation, Tifa just held on, having an arm around her as Zack decided it would be wise to move to where at least he could touch the ground below, Tifa could just…float, that was okay, it wasn’t like she couldn’t swim, but having him here was nice, her own personal life guard, in more ways than just being at the beach. He wasn’t SOLDIER material for just anything! He definitely had the ability to guard lives, and she knew that, too bad she hadn’t seen that long before, back when she had thrown words of hatred towards him, those memories needed to be pushed into the deepest corner of her mind, never to resurface again.
Back to the beach!
Giving Zack a determined and somewhat mischievous look of her own, she folded her arms now, looking as if she were up to something, and of course she was, there was a plot working its way through her head, slowly it was developing, if she couldn’t beat him at water skis, she’d need another way to get him back. Whatever it was, it needed to be good. He really needed to not underestimate her, just like when she tackled him in the kitchen after globbing food ingredients on one another, another proven moment of how super awesome she was, though…she wasn’t nearly as egotistical as someone else in the general area, like…Zack maybe? But still, that didn’t mean she couldn’t be confident in herself! She totally could be. “Why yes, I will be getting you back, whether it’s today…tomorrow, or even next week, revenge will come soon Mr. Fair.” Of course he wanted her to get him back. “Don’t worry, the time will come, you just won’t see it coming, I can assure you of that.” She gave a wink of her own, thinking the water skis would be her best bet, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a plan B.
“How’s the water feel? Comfortable after throwing me in?” she said with a long ‘hmmm’ sound, questionable though, still, it was continuing to produce a smile on her face. Smiles were at that mattered, it meant you were happy, and that was how she was feeling of course, obviously Zack the same way, he was just full of grins and laughter these days, it was refreshing, not many people smiled anymore. “Don’t get too comfortable though, you never know when I’ll strike.” She said before rolling slightly and plopping out of Zack’s arms and into the water, keeping herself under the surface and away from view. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 798 Muse: Good! Zack couldn’t help but think that this threat of punishment really didn’t seem so bad. After all, he didn’t think that her revenge could sound so bad. Pulling her close to him and anchoring them in the water, he cocked his head to the side and seemed to seriously contemplate the possibility that she might do something evil to him. Not that she would do anything actually mean, because she had too nice a personality to do that. Finally he turned his face down and studied her features. “Well now Miss Lockhart,” he started seriously, his furrow knitted as if he was really deeply thinking about it. “I may have to be on guard every hour of every day if you really mean that you’re going to do something evil to me." Leaning down closer, he allowed a flirty grin to come over his now lazy features, dropping the pretend serious act. “But I think your revenge would be something I’d want rather then something to fear. Are we going to celebrate life after?”, he curiously asked, wiggling his eyebrows as he did so. Zack couldn’t very well help his personality, could he? Nope!
And he was extremely comfortable where he was, arms wrapped around her waist and holding her loosely against him. Of course he was comfortable, and so he had to laugh at her question. “Of course I’m comfortable. The water heated up a few degrees when we got in, so that can’t be a problem,” he said matter o’ factly, but the twinkle in his eyes spoke of his amusement. Yup, Zack was cocky about his own appeal. It was a good feeling to know that your girlfriend thought so as well, that you were irresistible. That was also true. Tifa might deny it, but he knew the truth. He was irresistible in every way, especially to her. And he had to admit that she was irresistible to him as well. Every time he looked down and saw that full toothed grin beaming up at him, he found himself a bit dizzy. Happiness was hard to come by it seemed, but when Tifa was around, he felt this light hearted attitude that couldn’t be diminished. All you needed was someone on your side that you loved, he was convinced.
And then she was gone. Zack blinked at her words, and then the grin was back, before he settled his hands on his hips and waited for her to resurface patiently. How had this happened anyway? Zack had never thought that this would be the outcome of his life. No, he had never thought that it would ever be this good. As far as he was concerned, he was content to simply live out his life with her by his side, having his own business and working for ShinRa on the side a bit to make money. He didn’t need the excitement of saving the world anymore. No, his previous time in ShinRa had just made him realize that he was sorely in need of a rest from that life. He had realized it was a cave of monsters, and it had drained the life from him. There was no way he was just going back to that life. No, this time he had more on his side. He had a woman that loved him, and a life to look forward to. And it felt good.
Damn good.
Plunging into the water himself, Zack swam a second before resurfacing and shaking his head to rid his hair of the water. Treading water, Zack waited for Tifa to come back up so he could give her a sound kiss and wait in anticipation for his punishment to unfold. They only had a few days to be so carefree before they had to get back to their real lives back in Edge. Best to make good use of their time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 804 Muse:; Great! In the arms of her SOLDIER, Tifa felt not only safe but also worry free. They’d both dodged a very close bullet, and somehow everything was going to turn out okay from here on out. It was taking a bit of time to get used to not seeing a brand on her arm, it was a comforting thought, as if none of that had ever happened. There was some appreciation for the fal’cie now though, as strange as that sounded. Had Zack not gotten branded, had she not gotten branded…they may not be like this. They might simply be acquaintances with only a few meetings here and there. Tifa could still be holding a grudge against him and ShinRa, and Zack could just be off on his way doing what he wanted to do and not giving her a second thought. For once, Tifa had to thank the fal’cie for throwing this giant curveball into her life, it was a struggle, but in the end…it was all worth it.
With a dead serious look to match Zack’s, Tifa just blinked, doing her best to keep a straight face, no matter how much she wanted to smile, to laugh, to even show a bit of happiness in her eyes…she simply had to keep a stone-like appearance as this mock-seriousness went on. “Yes, be on your guard.” She agreed with a stern nod and a look of pure determination, before it faltered to a small smile. If he smiled, she did too. It was simply a domino effect, if he was happy, she was as well…a nice domino effect at that. Tifa loved being happy, it’d been a while since she’d been able to be this happy. Since her father had died…everything beyond that just didn’t seem like it was worth smiling about, truly smiling and being happy. Now, she had a reason. She had someone who was able to keep up with her, someone she didn’t have to worry about emotionally and that was strong enough to handle anything that was thrown at him, it was admirable.
Celebrate life, hm? Tifa knew that comment was going to come back around at some time or another. Though in different context of course. She worked a bar, there were many things she picked up on deciphering how the common man’s mind worked, Zack was no exception. Smirking slightly, Tifa shook her head a bit, giving him an amused look across her features. “That wouldn’t be much of a punishment, would it?” tilting her head to the side a bit, she kept that somewhat devilish look on her face as looked to be thinking. “It all depends on how I’m feeling when I strike. Whenever that is.” She shrugged a bit, feeling herself get used to the water more and more with each passing second. Okay, so getting tossed in probably helped, but whether it was celebrating life or not, Zack was going to get some sort of pay back. Whether it was making him eat her dust on the water skis, or something like that, it was going to happen.
And she was gone. Flopping into the water out of his arms and letting herself drift back towards the shore where she could touch the ground instead of having to tread water, she really was enjoying herself out here now. Poking her head up out of the water, she took in a deep breath and felt her feet touch the sand, it wasn’t too deep, but she was only a slight distance from Zack, he was treading, she was standing…must’ve been quite the slope. With a grin, she turned back to face him, pulling at her hair and wringing the water out of it – even though it was just going to get soaked again – she looked over her shoulder towards the beach, the volleyballers losing numbers. A small smile crossed her lips. “Looks like your buddies are needing a few extra players. What do you say I show how you to really play volleyball, hm?” a challenge, would he really be able to resist that? Probably not, and that was Tifa’s intention. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 797 Muse: Good once focused. Tagged: Zack! Wearing: Already linked.
