Having done his duties as the more potent mage on the field, Cid was resigned to remain back as he was, withholding any more inclinations to unhinge new spells upon the beast in favor of giving the two women all of the room they needed to bring the behemoth down. Cid stood relatively motionless, eyes squinted against the searing sun, as his eyes followed the motions of the pair he'd once fought and whose power he'd witnessed firsthand. It was something of a dance he watched them perform, Fang emerging from her previous position outside of Cid's line of sight and Lightning moving in to replace the brunette, working her will with her gunblade. Now that Cid had a momentarily opportunity to simply watch the two, he realized how impressive they'd become as warriors, even moreso than when they had defeated Cid.
No, he would not let the thought of that day pass away. Not while Lightning still stood before him, after all of these years as a servant of Valhalla, to constantly remind him of it.
He glanced her as she pulled back, but quickly his eyes were drawn by Fang's battle cry and maneuver. The huntress' final strike was brutal, and Cid watched, impassively, as the behemoth's short, gurgled yell that had begun with Lightning's strike was cut off. The creature was dead before it collapsed. Cid brought an arm up against the sand that it sent out upon meeting with the ground. Then, silence returned to the area, save for the Pulsian accent of the huntress. Cid wasted no time in stepping over to where the two women were standing in the aftermath of the fight, subtly checking the pinkette for an injury he'd missed before. He would judge by Fang's grin that she was fine, but clearly, it was not as easy to tell about the former soldier's state.
Once he'd decided that Lightning was not at the point of collapsing as the behemoth had, Cid got himself right to the business and urgency of the situation. "Though I don't wish to keep the two of you from your reunion, we can't afford to spend any more time in this world than necessary." His eyes settled on Lightning, though he couldn't quite bring himself to meet her eyes. "We plan to take you home, though I'm afraid you won't find the situation there far better than how you left it." Turning slightly away and activating the small, holographic mechanism positioned on his left arm, he waited a few seconds for the signal to clear before establishing a connection with the ship that had brought Fang ad him to this planet. "She's been found. Move the ship to our location and prepare to exit back to Academia."
These would be an uncomfortable couple of minutes as they waited for the ship, he realized. Hopefully Fang had more to say...for once, Cid did not.

Finally, this damn creature had been taken care of thanks to Fang’s final hit on the thing, maybe now Lightning would get a chance to breathe and not have some sort of danger or crisis breathing down her neck. Of course that wasn’t true, there was still timelines to deal with, paradoxes to fix and…anything else, like…Caius Ballad. There was just a whole mess of things happening right now and Lightning was just…well she was tired. Who could blame her for feeling that way? She was dead on her feet but ready to get out there and fight some more, which was exactly what she was going to have to do. Looking towards the wild Pulsian as she talked, Lightning rolled her eyes and felt her gunblade disappear from her grasp, her hands going to her hips as she gave out a tiny “Tch,” sound towards her friend. No one wanted to start talking about how Lightning got into all these messes, she sure as hell didn’t know…and she was sure she didn’t want to know. Shifting her eyes towards Cid Raines as he spoke, Lightning moved her hands from being on her hips to folding across her chest. She quirked an eyebrow at him and gave a small huff of a breath. Of course things weren’t going to be better, and of course they were taking her home…why else would they be here? A stroll in the sand together? Probably not. Nodding her head towards him, Light kept some composure and maturity, after all, she had been a soldier and still maintained that calmness and respect she always had. “Alright-,” but a thought crossed her mind. The last thing she remembered doing before she turned to crystal was…Serah. Serah had died due to her request to help save the future. Lightning had walked up those stairs towards Etro’s throne…sat with one leg crossed over the other and her gunblade in her hand, to preserve Serah’s memory…what of her sister now? And that’s when the new look of worry could actually be seen on her face, when it came to Serah…Lightning became an open book, easy for anyone to read. “What’s become of Serah? Is she still…” her sentence trailed off as her eyes went searching, either of the two actually. She wanted an answer…and if there was no answer to give, she only had to assume the worst. Taking a few steps towards Fang, someone who knew of her dedication to her sister, the things she’d fought for…were for Serah, Lightning wasn’t sure she could live with herself with a haunting guilt resting on her shoulders due to Serah’s death. Looking towards Fang with a literally pained look on her face – because this was the best conversation to have while waiting for an airship – Lightning tilted her head slightly. “Fang? Where…is Serah?” she asked while standing there, hopeless, her mind completely void of really anything. Serah…she…she had died due to a vision, she had died due to Lightning’s plea to help save the future. If anything she had learned all this time…everything that led up to this very point in time, if time was even moving forward anymore…was that all of this was her fault. There was nothing she could say or do to deny that simple fact. Serah was gone, and it was Lightning’s doing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 653 Muse: good!
