Well Nine had been defeated during this little spar. Of course Nine was never going to go full fledged against Ace, but he would gladly call it a loss in his books. Ace got the win this time, but he was sure that now Nine had a better idea as to what Ace could do, he could plot up a better tactic instead of thinking right on the spot. Even though thinking right on the spot was something Nine was usually used to. Looking up at Ace for a moment, Nine shook his head and chuckled, he was thoroughly amused with the way things had went. Sure they’d gotten a little banged up but it was worth it! They both got a bit of practice in without killing each other. “Yeah yeah it was a good fight.” The defeated dragoon agreed with a small nod, relaxing back against the ground for a moment.
“Oi! Take anythin’ I say as a compliment…unless it’s a real insult.” He advised while remaining sprawled across the ground, feeling comfortable with the slight breeze that was in the air. He had to be a little proud of Ace for landing him on his ass, that was something that wasn’t easy anyways. Nine was a dragoon for heaven’s sake! He was quick and nimble, able to jump out of the way of most attacks…but oh well, more credit on Ace’s part. “We’ll see about next time, hey. Jus’ be sure to work on your physical attack skills!” he advised again, throwing out as much advice as he possibly could towards his younger companion, sitting up and crossing his legs to sit criss cross on the ground. He’d go retrieve his lance later, right now there was just some…post-fight relaxation that needed to happen, before he left the training field and went back to his dorm to do…well, certainly not homework. He could probably find some time to sleep, the usual that happened within the evening of Nine.
Another chuckle came from Nine at Ace’s words. Sensei? Really? Ha, that was funny, and it could be accurate…also enough to make Nine’s ego explode even more than it already had within his lifetime. “Do you plan on callin’ me that all the time anytime I give you advice?” he asked with a raised eyebrow towards Ace before waving a hand, dismissing his words. “Whatever, just take advice from anyone who’s willin’ to give it. Even I take advice.” He said with a small shrug before hoisting himself up to his feet and dusting off his uniform. Stretching up to his toes and relaxing his muscles. “So what’s next on your agenda, kiddo? Gonna train some more?” he asked while passing the other blonde, going to retrieve his lance from the ground. Giving it a few sturdy tugs, the lance freed itself from the ground and then disappeared from sight, not needing to be summoned for the time being. “Because I’m headin’ out…maybe grab a bite.” He said with a small shrug, turning to face Ace once more, waiting to see what his pal was going to be up to this evening. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 637 Muse: Good! Ace hadn’t expected to win against Nine. In all honesty, he thought the odds were against him. It definitely had seemed like that. Still, it was a surprise. And the whole experience had shed some light on techniques to use and what techniques not to use. That was a definite bonus. Ace needed to think up some better ideas though. He knew he couldn’t perfect every strategy in the world, especially his own. However, that didn’t mean he could leave them littered with faults, right? He would have to practice with his classmates more often. They had varied abilities, and it could help all of them get better at fighting. Not necessarily that they needed to get much better, just there was always room to improve, right? Ace rubbed the back of his neck a little, before blowing a piece of his hair out of his face. ”I honestly thought I was going to lose.” He shrugged.
Ace chuckled. ”How do I know the difference, eh?” He offered, crossing his arms tightly across his chest. He dusted off his trousers, and then rubbed the side of his nose. His arm was hurting slightly. Well, not hurting. More of an ache from cutting it, then landing on it. Surely that would make anything ache a bit. ”I never know if your insulting or complimenting.” He lightly teased, before rubbing his eyes. Ace nodded. ”Yeah. I know ‘bout that. It’s hard to just start training in a specialty attack you’re not used to.” He shrugged, and used the toe of his shoe to move around the dirt on the ground. He did that when he didn’t know what to say in turn after voicing his opinion. It usually happened. Still, he would try and get his physical skills up. But, it was easier said than done, wasn’t it. Eh, but it wouldn’t feel worth it if he was good straight away. People had to work things. It wasn’t the destination, but the journey, right?
Ace grinned and shrugged his shoulders. ”Maaaaybe. That depends if your advice is worth listening to.” He shrugged once more, before shoving his hands in his pockets. It was fun having some banter with Nine. He nodded. ”The wisest of those are the ones that listen to others.” Ace shrugged. ”It applies to advice too.” He stood next to him, and clicked his tongue. His lance seemed to have been stuck pretty tight, until Nine managed to wrench it free. His eyes widened for a second, before he blinked and shrugged again. He was shrugging an awful lot recently, he noticed. ”Probably not. And what’ve I just said? You’re less than a year older, Nine. I’m not a kid.” Ace crossed his arms and shook his head, with a small smile on his face. It was a little funny, he couldn’t deny that. Still, he guessed Nine meant well… sorta. Eh, he couldn’t be sure if the dragoon was just teasing him. ”I don’t know what I’m doing now. Homework’s all done, ‘cept the project. I guess, I’m just doing nothing.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 722 Muse:; Great! Nine gave a bellowed laugh towards the younger blonde. He was about as cocky and confident as they came, it could prove to be both good and bad, but in this case o suppose you could say it was his downfall. You see, Nine was nearly one hundred percent sure he was going to win hat spar against Ace. Look where that complacency got him? In all honesty, no one was going to put their entire effort into a friendly spar, you didn't want to end up hurting the other person. For example, Ace could easily blast Nine from here to Concordia with those cards of his, and Nine could maim anyone in his sights should he feel up to it. Long story short, it wasn't exactly a fair or even fight. Each student was better at one thing than another...this was the same case but whatever. nine would let Ace have that victory...it made for a good story right? At least for Ace it did...or it didn't. Depends on who you're talking to.
Shaking his head ans giving the shorter youth a laugh - rough snort included - Nine simply waved a hand slightly. "Ya can't expect everythin' t' be crystal clear for ya, right? 'Sides, I'd never insult ya...unless ya really pissed me off." he ended with a smirk and a glance over his shoulder. Training time was over for Nine, but if Ace wanted to continue then the dragoon would get out of his way and go do something productive...like nothing. That was about as productive as someone like Nine ever got...nothing, eating and arguing. Those were his daily routines it seemed like...oh well, that system seemed to work for him better than anyone else, and hey, if it ain't broke...don't fix it. That seemed like a good philosophy to live by, at least for someone like Nine.
Giving a shrug towards Ace, Nine turned his attention away from his friend. He gazed across the training field towards the academy in the distance. Food sure did sound good...and Nine was obviously hungry as a might stomach growl came from him. It made him make a slight face before turning back to Ace, a small grin lingering on his lips. What was wrong with grabbing a bite? Surely Ace liked to eat too...he was a guy after all, and this could be some sort of...male bonding time? Big brother Nine bonding time was more like it. Shrugging his shoulders before pocketing his hands he started past Ace for a brief moment, his tone carefree as he just kept things simple. "Well I ain't stickin' 'round here no more. I'm hungry, if you are too you should tag along, hey. It'd be nice t' talk to ya for a little bit ya know? With as messed up as things are right now...who has the time?" he said with yet another shrug, with that said and done, he started forward again, heading in the general direction of the academy, and beyond that would be the actual city of Rubrum. Whether Nine was going alone or not...he was a man on a mission...a mission for food. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 612 Muse: Good!
