"Oh, I can handle it. It's do I want to handle it that's always been the question," Cole informed his cramped-up companion, surprised at the sense he was making. It wasn't everyday you had to talk to this end of a person, with your own voice echoing back to yourself and the other person's voice sounding as if it was coming from inside your head and...yeah. As much experience as Cole had crawling through places just like this one, he still pretty much hated all cramped spaces. He was a man who liked to...stretch out. In another life, he must have been claustrophobic. It was a good thing he wasn't now..and that as he crawled along, he didn't have a fear of kind of worrisome Gran Pulse huntress women or of the fact that their tunnel might not have an end to it...but as the kept going along, it seemed more and more like the last fear might have been moot anyway. The first two, on the other hand, were still viable.
And he was pretty sure the subject Fang brought up, dealing with old men in wedding dresses, would be a fear of his for quite a long time. In a worse - or less crowded - situation, Cole might have had more to say about her comments than he did, but mostly he had his own gibberish to say about it for the time being. "I don't want to look at him in any way to be honest." Originally, Cole had thought it would have been great to have another chance to hand Barty his own ass on a platter. By now, though, Cole had decided if he never saw another fal'Cie and could deal with his problems peacefully, he'd be perfectly fine with it. Obviously if they found something down here that would help them blow a fal'Cie sky high, Cole would want to be a part of turning them all into the Gran Pulse space program.
And as these lovely thoughts filled his mind, their journey through the darkness, with its jagged rocks and stiff air and echoes, seemed to be coming to a close with Cole almost hitting something of a wall before the end. Finally able to peer around to see Fang's face when she craned her head around to look at him, he grinned sarcastically. "I'm in a tunnel with rocks cutting every inch of my body. By default, I'm feeling uncomfortable," he told her, rather matter-of-factly. Easing his way forward as she opened the door for him to do so - barely, considering how he wasn't exactly a small spaces kind of person - Cole squeezed in and peered out into the dim light of the room before them, blinking and squinting to adjust to even the smallest amount of light that was before them. Though he couldn't move at all, really, without probably knocking the wind out of Fang, he nodded at her slightly. "Yep, this should be the place...I guess we're a little ahead of where we were before, probably past...a set of stairs that might have been here before, or a ladder. And the...Light might help too."
Proud of his glorious pun as he saw the pinkette step nearby, Cole provided her with a cheesy smile before inching his way back, seeing that Fang was getting ready to get down. Pressing himself up against the wall so she wouldn't kick him in the head or anything, he waited a few seconds and kept expecting to hear Rygdea's or Alice's voice below. Nothing...but Lightning had looked pretty neutral as she had been standing down there, so he didn't get too worried about it. They might have had to go around another way. He cut his eyes slightly at Fang before she dropped down, with him moving over to follow her and pushing himself down more haphazardly. He fell down and landed sideways, stumbling slightly before he straightened and looked to Lightning, waiting for the answer to the question Fang provided as he dusted himself off a bit and glanced the pinkette to make sure she wasn't hurt. Well, they'd all come out of this alright so far...

The silence for once was a bit unnerving. It wasn’t welcome to the pinkette as she stood within a vacant room, her arms folded and her eyes wandering, wishing she could find someone…anyone, especially Fang and Cole since she’d had no idea as to their status from the fall. As for the other two…Lightning knew they could handle themselves, at least she knew Rygdea could handle himself, upon losing Alice…she just determined that his expedition had been a mistake…at least the group as a whole hadn’t failed that much, it just seemed everyone was separated right now, Lightning was by herself, Rygdea was potentially by himself, same went for Fang and Cole as well as Alice, wherever it was she wandered off to. Shaking her head a bit and dropping her hands to her hips, she scoffed a bit at herself, wanting to get her mind to shut the hell up about the negativity that would occasionally seep in there, making her think the absolute worst about all of this.
Hearing voices, that had made Lightning’s optimism grow slightly. Once they got closer, she could easily figure out who it was that was coming near her, especially Fang. Well at least she knew Fang and Cole were safe for the most part, that was slightly comforting, so all she had to do was wait and see where it was they came from. Looking up and seeing Fang after she had shouted about seeing Light, Lightning stepped back a few steps, giving the Pulsian some room to drop down from some…tunnel system they’d gotten themselves into. “You both are still in one piece? That’s good.” She said low but meaning it sincerely, glad to have found at least a part of their group, though she was disappointed about losing the other two. It just wasn’t fair, these stupid ruins were a mess and got everyone separated, trapped, or worse…fallen through floors and leading to all of those things at once.
Of course a pun would occur. Shaking her head and looking up towards Cole as he made his Light pun, she simply narrowed her eyes slightly, not letting a look of irritation or anything gather on her features, for she was grateful they were safe. “A Light joke, cute.” She said with a small shrug before being approached with a question. She knew someone was going to ask as to where the others were, and Lightning hadn’t really prepared herself for a detailed response. Moving a hand to rub the back of her neck slightly, her aqua eyes flickered from Fang and Cole towards the wall to her right. “We got separated.” She said bluntly, eyes moving back to Fang most of all as she dropped her hand back to her hip again. “There was another collapse within the ruins, he was very much alive and okay though. As for…Alice, I honestly don’t know what the hell happened.” She said with another shake of her head and a brief shrug. Oh the chaos…stupid ruins and their weak structures, traps and dark corners. Damn them.
“Did you guys run into anything worth looking at on the way here? Or any trouble?” being informed as to what had happened during their little solo journey through the ruins would be nice, maybe even find out something that made all of this worthwhile…but Lightning wasn’t going to hold her breath on that one, in fact, she wasn’t going to expect anything to come out of this, except a few bumps and bruises that had already started to form from each fall, collapse and terror that seemed to be targeting the bunch. “If not, we still have some rooms to search I’m sure.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 729 Muse: Great! Fang’s laughter echoed back after she had teased Cole about Barthandelus and he had responded. To be perfectly honest, she understood exactly what he was feeling…but it didn’t hurt to tease other people about subjects like this. Heck, anyone that had had an encounter with Barthandelus would know exactly what they were talking about when they said that they didn’t even want to look at him. “What? Ya don’ wanna look at the noice nails? Or is it the sexy clothes he wears?” Fang couldn’t help being amused at how disturbed he was, just as she and the gang had been for so long. Hell, it shouldn’t just be them that had to deal with that creepy man, right? Best to spread the scarring around to everyone else, so they would have to deal with it as well. It may not be nice, but it was satisfying.
“The way ya do all that complainin’, people would think ya actually didn’t loike bein’ stuck in a tunnel with rocks cuttin’ ya up. Now who wouldn’t loike bein’ in this situation anyway?”, she mentioned sarcastically, before scooting over to the side so that he could get out and around her. Maybe once he had actually gotten out on the ledge he could calm down and realize that the boogie man wasn’t going to jump out of any tunnels and snatch him away or anything. Honestly though, Fang could understand the discomfort in tight spaces. She herself didn’t like not thinking she could stretch out and fight something if she needed to, and tunnels definitely weren’t made for the ability to stretch out and have a whole hell of a lot of room, so thus, problems started happening then. But as with everything, people learned to just deal with it. What else was there to do except put up with the different situations?
When they were up there together, Fang nodded seriously to his words, thinking about what they might find and where they might have to go. And of course, in the back of her mind was finding Lightning and Rygdea. Alice she didn’t give a damn about, but she worried about the other two, even if she didn’t show it and didn’t admit to it. Sure, it was easy to tell someone else that they were too stubborn to die, but it was an entirely different thing to think it, unfortunately. So the appearance of her friend and comrade did make her feel better.
Slapping Cole on the shoulder, she jumped off the ledge and stood there a moment, glancing over her shoulder to watch his attempt on getting down. He was so graceful in his movements. So…so graceful. Grinning while he dusted himself off, Fang turned back to Lightning before glancing behind her, continuing to expect the handsome devil of an air pilot to come swaggering out from behind something. But…he didn’t show himself, and so she put the question to Lightning, hoping that she would have an answer. Separated? With a sigh, Fang propped her hands on her hips and looked up at the ceiling, almost wanting to question how the hell they got separated, but bit it back. Probably the same way her and Cole got separated from the rest. “Tha’ damned red head-…oh good, she got herself lost before I could slap her around. Smarter than I thought.”, she commented dryly.
Trouble? “Well, Handsome over here almost got us eaten ‘cause he didn’t wanna climb up quick enough, but asoide from bein’ hoppin’ mad an’ ready ta’ tear a certain persons head off, we’re doin’ alroight, eh Cole?” Glancing back over her shoulder at her companion, Fang grinned at him, before turning back to Lightning and shrugging her shoulders slightly. “An’ as fer findin’ anythin’, we were jus’ crawlin’ around in a dark tunnel an’ tryin’ ta stay aloive, so we haven’t found a damned thing before we got here. How ‘bout you?”

Apparently, by saying anything at all about Barty, he was encouraging Fang to keep reminding him about various horrible things about the old creep, so...yeah. He just went to the awkward work of following behind her...self and staying quiet, because the less he had to remember about his experience in becoming a l'Cie in the first place. That, combined with the crap that had happened so far on this tomb-raiding excursion would proooobably form together to make something pretty damn frustrating, so he just needed to keep his mind off of it. At least...he could talk about how wonderful it was to be scuffed up by the rocks and other assorted miserable things, apparently. Fang did have an odd idea of when to try to make something fun...
Ah well, he didn't see any harm in continuing to play along. Besides, he was liking Fang, for reasons beyond...the ones that were suddenly very clear to him despite the dim light. "Just not my taste, you know? Other people might pay millions for this type of experience, but I just don't think it's for me." That wasn't entirely true...this kind of had to be his taste considering he'd made a career out of this sort of thing, right? But normally, the floor didn't collapse and leave him scraping his way through a tight hole just to keep himself alive. Man was Gran Pulse a more dangerous place all around than Ivalice, which he supposed why Fang had popped out of his culture and ended up like she was. He would have expected, like...Helga-looking women though, not...Fang. Considering Fang and Lightning and all of these other women, the men on this planet were some lucky and probably some very scared individuals...
Speaking of Light...
She didn't even seem impressed by his absolutely top-notch pun, but then again, Fang didn't either. Maybe he'd thought more of it than it was actually worth...but, that didn't matter, as seeing another face was exactly what he'd been wanting. There just...weren't as many as he'd been expecting, but Light explained that as Cole listened in. Okay, so Rygdea was fine, apparently. Alice she didn't explain as well as the other guy, but apparently nothing too deadly had happened to her. And Cole wasn't about to dwell on the subject of the redhead for too long, considering how much he knew Fang wanted to wring her neck. Fang even brought up the fact again herself, leaving Cole to raise his eyebrow at her. The third woman would be doing some sort of Alice thing somewhere, so he wasn't concerned on that end either.
He heard Light's question to them, but by that time, something adjacent to them had caught his attention, and he was stepping back to see down a certain passageway that seemed to have a very noticeable smell to it, brought on by a slight passage of air. His eyebrows knit as he stared at it, only being drawn back into reality when Fang mentioned his name. Confusion was plastered on his face for a few seconds, because he hadn't heard exactly what she said, but when she grinned he returned it and only let his gaze shift back to the passageway once she'd turned back to Lightning. By that time, he started walking slowly towards the passageway, becoming more and more certain as he got a bit closer that he was right about the smell and about the gust...something more than a blank wall or another collapse waited down there, and he had a very strong feeling, judging by where they should be, that it would be the sort of "room of importance" they were looking for in here.
He reopened his ears just in time to hear Fang say they hadn't found a damn thing, and turned to them. "Damned thing found," he chimed in, holding his arm out towards the passageway. "I think this is what we're looking for. There's some room down here with a door. Come on." With that said, he started his slow way down it, suddenly remembering...he didn't have a light. "Uh...Light...you don't still have your namesake on you, do you?"

This entire expedition seemed to be going down the crapper with each passing second. Lightning had never been too confident about it in the first place, and ever since she agreed to tag along, she had wondered why she had said yes. A deep and heavy sigh escaped the former soldier’s lips as she had her arms folded across her chest, looking towards Fang and Cole and explaining what happened between the time they’d gotten separated to now. Rygdea had gotten cut off from her and Alice, and…the red head had wandered off, fallen through the floor or gotten caught in some sort of trap that Lightning didn’t know about. It was…going to work out though, or, like she had thought initially, this was all just a big waste of precious time. Moving a hand to rub at the bridge of her nose and her eyes, she sighed a bit, listening to Fang and nodding slowly. At least Lightning had gotten her punch in before Alice scurried off to Etro only knows where.
Giving a smirk towards Fang, Lightning just remained silent, letting the two explain what it was they had or hadn’t found, now that they were all here and alive, or at least…this trio was. Shrugging a bit, Lightning spoke up some, informing them of her own…obstacles. “Nearly got crushed on my way in here trying to assist Alice…but a least I got my fist to connect with her nose before everything went even further downhill.” She said with amusement more towards Fang, that punch would mean a lot towards the wild Pulsian, hopefully she appreciated the fact that Lightning sure as hell didn’t let her get away with her stupidity without a nice clobber to her face, at least whenever the soldier punched Snow, she never broke anything as far as she knew. He was just a silly kind of stupid, a man who had been all talk…Alice had been…foolishly stupid, she had deserved that hit, and no matter what anyone said…Lightning would’ve done it no matter what, whether they were in danger or not…a punch would’ve came sooner or later.
“Other than that, I didn’t find much of anything either.” Lightning explained as she then looked towards Cole. Her flashlight had died a short while back, she had to lead herself through a few rooms with a makeshift flashlight, a good old fashioned wall torch. “No, it died after a few tumbles here and there.” She said before wandering towards one of the walls in the room where she had placed her wall torch on a station for it. Grasping it in her hand she watched as the light illuminated the area around them a bit more, on a more up close and personal level. “This will do for now.” And with that, she waited, standing there and looking towards Cole. He seemed to be the silently dubbed leader of this expedition, and he was a…treasure…hunter of sorts, right? He could lead the way, Lightning was just there to be a medic and provide a bit of backup muscle for them after all. Whatever they would find…it had better be worth all this trouble it had been causing. If only this one knew what sort of role this expedition would play in the future, another timeline…how it would save her sister Serah…then this definitely wouldn’t be a worthless little trip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 676 Muse: Great!
