Just...one...more.
Trey delicately brought the comb in his hand up to the side of his bangs as carefully as a surgeon would wield his knife. With a practiced motion, he raked back with the instrument, sweeping the last strand of blond hair into place. And it was done. Trey stood back from the mirror of his and Ace's bathroom slightly, observing the golden mop of his head as he slid his jacket over his shoulders.
If Trey ever had a justified reason to be so concerned with his appearance, it was when he had a schoolwide dance to attend. And he would indeed be attending a schoolwide dance in twenty- no, less than twenty minutes, he noticed as he put on his watch. No point in standing and waiting for the time to pass to ensure he arrived just before the dance started. Trey knew he would rid himself of nerves if he went ahead and left. With that in mind, he adjusted his collar and cuffs, glared at himself one last time in the mirror, and exited the bathroom, the thoughts filling his head as to what the night would bring distracting him from remembering Ace was probably still in the room. Once out the door, he hoofed out the short trip over to the building where the dance was to be held.
His hands instinctively moved to straighten the front of his jacket as he walked into the building and those same hands continued on to his hair, which he brushed to the side slightly. As all people do when entering a room in which an event is to be held, Trey stood and searched the faces in the room. Not too many people had arrived just yet - some of the faculty was running to and fro as well as a small handful of students (Trey thought he could see Rem, but she wasn't exactly the easiest person to see in a crowded room), but for the most part, he looked to be one of the first to arrive. Trey checked his watch for the time, finding he was at least a few minutes early, before he took in a breath for confidence's sake and pressed further into the room.
Immediately he found himself looking for Sice, but reminded himself not to get his hopes up. Trey knew that if Sice had her way, she would be as far as possible from any event that would force her to dress up. His aim over the past week had been to get in touch with Seven and find out if she'd managed to talk her roommate into attending, but he had been so busy finding his suit (and helping a couple of others as best he could to find their own) that he had never managed to. Eventually he just decided he'd be pleasantly surprised if Sice did show up. He knew the night he'd come home from his birthday party had been much less endearing to Sice than to Trey. So, he'd opted to simply dress up nice and go, effectively, by himself, just planning to enjoy the night either way.
"So begin enjoying it, Trey...", he said under his breath to himself and ambled over to where a few more people were standing, looking for a classmate or other good friend to corner for the time being. However, Trey could not stop himself from constantly looking to the door in anticipation.

Sice grumbled and glared as she was pulled down the hallway where the dance was being held. She was wearing the dress and shoes and accessories that she and Seven had picked out the day before, and she was wearing them very reluctantly. She would have much rather been in a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, down in the training room, swinging her scythe left and right. In fact, she wished she could really do that right now, so that she could run back to her dorm and just hole herself up in there for a week. She was sure that there would be plenty of staring at the fact that Sice was at the dance, let alone in a dress and heels. And she was even more sure that there would be plenty of pictures from that damn Naghi. If she hadn't died from the embarrassment from the dance, she would most certainly die from that.
Continuing to walk down hallway, she tried her best to not trip in the heeled, open-toed, ankle boots that she had been forced into by her, she supposed evil, roommate. Along with all that, she had to make sure the sleeveless, black, peacock feathered dress didn't ride up or cause anything else for that damn Naghi to capture. In fact, she would probably have to watch out for him the entire dance. If only she had her scythe. Then she would show him a piece of her mind. After she had taken off the heels, of course.
Looking up, she saw they had neared the entrance way to the dance, or she tugged on the arm that Seven was holding, trying to get out of her grasp so that she could possibly make a run for it. But, Seven had a strong grip, and she wasn't letting go anytime soon. Sice cursed her mentally, as she was dragged through the entrance way, and the sightseeing began. Immediately, heads were turning at the sounds of her yells, as she exclaimed rather loudly that she wanted Seven to let go of her arm so that she could ”get out of this damn place!” But, like all of her other attempts, they were futile, and she was completely dragged towards a group of her fellow classmates from Class Zero. Well, there went her hope of being able to avoid any of them. She had been hoping to kick herself out of Seven's grasp, but with the height of her heels, she was sure she would fall on her ass, and just be captured again before she could make a break for it. Damn that Seven. Damn her to hell.
Finally, they stopped, but Seven didn't let go of her arm. Not that Sice would have run now. She was in there. No matter how much she didn't want to be there, she was there, and if she ran she would show she was a coward. And Sice was no coward. The only thing to do now was to stand there until Seven let her go, so that she could leave all of this behind. Before all of the rumors and pictures started floating around and she was reminded of all of this once again. Along with the dress and heels, she also wore silver and gold bangles on her left wrist, a bird necklace around her neck, and black earrings. Her hair was sort of the same. She still had her trademark bangs, but instead of a ponytail, her hair was in a bun at the nape of her neck, with a few strands hanging out.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she glanced around the room, noticing familiar faces, along with a teacher that made her look in the opposite direction, and a familiar bowman who was looking quite sharp in his suit. Scowling, she tried her best to look inconspicuous and inattentive so as not to attract the blonde-haired man known as Trey. But, that was a bit hard when student after student was coming up to her saying that they couldn't believe that she actually came and that they had to tell their friends and that she looked quite stunning and feminine. Well...shit.

At length Trey, after roving the room aimlessly for a couple of minutes, finally found something to occupy himself with until the dance started (though they could have likely been occupied the whole night on the subject) - a discussion with Quon over the so-called "ultimate magic" the two of them had been discussing recently. Hand motions, points, and counter-points galore were exchanged between the two of them while everyone in their immediate area acted as if the two had the plague. A plague known as diarrhea of the mouth. Trey intently focused on what he was saying about forms and classes of magic, complete with an apparent floating, invisible list of these forms and classes, before he inadvertently noticed Seven from over Quon's shoulder. He stopped his list short of completion as his train of thought came to a crashing halt due to curiosity about Sice. Excusing himself from Quon, he stepped past the researcher and attempted to knife his way in the direction of Seven and, hopefully...
Finally, the familiar spiky silver bangs made their way into Trey's line of sight. So Sice had been forced, probably decided to come to the dance. His eyes lit up as he really got a move on, smoothly sliding his way through the growing groups of students towards the beacon that was Sice's unmistakable head of hair. Just a little closer and he could actually see more than her head, just a little more...and, finally, he was close enough that he could see her, uninhibited by other students.
Trey stopped and stared, wondering who had turned up the heat in the room so suddenly. Seven...Seven had pulled off what had previously been thought impossible. He never believed he would ever see Sice in a dress...but there she stood in one that...well...Trey....he....liked it quite a bit. And she seemed...taller, even from this distance, so she must have been wearing heels, too? Trey simply stood, gawking, and thought over these things, before remembering that he could appreciate her more up-close than he could from this distance. She looked to be under attack from students passing complements her way. The uncomfortable look on her face managed to bring a slight grin to the archer's face. With a deep breath and an attempt to wedge two fingers between his neck and his collar, Trey set off to hopefully speak with the dangerous doll. Assuming she didn't run from him or threaten him into going away, of course.
First things first, though. Trey had a find a way to pull her away from all the attention that he had a feeling she didn't want anyway. Working his way around behind her as stealthily as any six-foot-tall teenager could manage, Trey waited for the other students to stop talking before stepping up, bravely (to his surprise), to Sice's side. "Excuse me," he interjected. "Would either of you mind if I borrowed Sice?" They just shrugged in apparent agreement. Nodding his thanks to them (and noticing they'd already started to gossip), Trey made a valiant attempt at pulling Sice slightly to the side - just far enough away that he didn't feel as if they were wading in the center of a pool of people.
Now, that much had been successful. Now what. Trey smiled warmly down into Sice's face (though not as far down as usual...she must have really been wearing some serious heels), having one of those rare moments where he had to stop and consider his words before speaking them. He had the urge to just...stare at how...well the dress she was wearing showed her off, but instead, Trey sheepishly stared down at both their feet before he gathered himself enough to say something more. Without much of a pause, he decided to start off simply. "I'm glad you came. But I have to ask - what did Seven have to threaten you with in order to drag you here..." He gestured to her dress. "...and convince you to wear something so gorgeous?"

Sice tried her damn hardest to get out of Seven's grip. She really did. But, with all the dragging that had been done the day before when the two girls had gone out looking for dresses and other such things, well, Sice was getting tired. She was losing strength quickly, and Seven's grip wasn't getting any weaker. Which meant there was gonna be no way out of this mess. Sice gritted her teeth. She really hated dances. No, hate wasn't enough. Loathe was more like it. Complete and utter loathing. She saw no point in them whatsoever, and saw even less of a point to even attend the damn things. All it entailed was dressing up, and having your feet hurt like hell the next day. Who in the world looked forward to that? Seven, and every other person enjoying themselves at this stupid little shindig. That's who.
Seven finally stopped, and Sice was able to sort of calm down. Scowling, she crossed her arms over her chest, and planted herself firmly where she was standing. People milled around her, giving out loud exclamations over the even louder music that pounded in her head. She could barely hear herself think right now with the countless noise that was being directed her way. Another reason to hate these things. Too much noise, whether it be music, or just plain chitter chatter. Her scowl grew deeper as she tried to ignore what people were saying. Rumors were definitely going to be running rampant the next day, and Sice would have to track down all of them to show and prove that none of them were true. And, if need be, her scythe would be in hand, ready to threaten them.
Suddenly, she felt someone next to her and she glanced over, a scowl still on her face, as Trey came into view. Wonderful. Just the person she wanted to have see her in this. This would most certainly go over well. He asked the students that were currently “talking” to her, where talking meant that their mouths kept moving on and she just ignored them to the best of her ability, before he had gently grabbed her arm and pulled her off to the side. And, strangely enough, she had found herself complying to his touch. Maybe it was because she knew that she wasn't necessarily being dragged to some god-awful place, or the fact that she knew that she would be able to get her arm out of his grasp at anytime. Not that she did.
They pulled away from the mass of people, and stood more on the edge of that sea of bodies. Sice felt like she could actually breath now, and she let out a long sigh, allowing her tensed up body to relax slightly. Though, with the way those students were talking when they moved away, she was sure her moments of relaxation would be shortly outlived. But, until then she would have to focus her attention on the blonde in front her. So, she crossed her arms over chest, though not as tightly as before, and waited for him to speak and give a reason as to why he had pulled her over.
She wasn't too surprised that he asked her what Seven had to do to get her to come. She might as well give him the simple answer that had been obvious as soon as she had walked in. But, he hadn't been done. She couldn't help the blush that came up on her cheeks at his last comment, and she turned her head away, keeping the scowl on her face so that he would think it was just her normal attitude. ”Seven dragged me. Simple as that. She dragged me to go shopping with her, and she dragged me to this stupid dance. I would much rather be in the training room right now. This is the only time when I can get some real peace and quiet in there, and...” She sighed. Trey wasn't at fault here, so why did she feel like she was yelling at him? It was probably because she had so much pent up rage from the day before, and this, that she needed to find an outlet, and Trey's question, even with the nice comment, allowed for a perfect opening. So, she turned back towards him, the blush gone. ”...sorry. I'm just pissed off right now. I honestly didn't want to come, but Seven insisted. And you know how stubborn she can be."

Lo and behold, Trey had not been shoved, smacked, or threatened as he led Sice away from the small gathering she'd attracted. Perhaps Sice felt that Trey pulling her to the side as opposed to having random students gather around and make a fuss over her was the lesser of two evils, but Trey didn't think of it this way. He was busy bustling with pride over his small success...because he believed he had just earned himself at least a few minutes with the most beautiful young woman in the room, and no one could convince him otherwise.
Trey could tell Sice was frustrated and flustered even before asking his question, and he could surmise why. Sice plus pretty dress plus large group of people did not equate to a comfortable scenario for her....after all, she was the grim reaper of Class Zero (even if Trey believed he was one of the few who could see past that facade). She seemed - likely for those exact reasons - determined not to enjoy herself this evening. Trey was going to do everything in his power to change that, even if it killed him.
And it probably would kill him. By way of scythe.
He clasped his hands behind his back as Sice cocked her head away from him and answered, complaining about all of Seven's dragging. He hid a small smile by scratching at the bridge of his nose and wondered who had picked out the dress. Curiosity would force him to ask one of the two silver-haired roomated about it before the night was over. Sice's rant continued before she came to a sudden stop, causing the archer to raise his eyebrows in his suspense until she looked back at him. He unleashed a small grin at her apology, waving it off. Of all people, Trey knew how to handle an extended rant, even when he was not the one giving it. "I don't mind at all. In fact, I...have to thank Seven for being so stubborn, so you may have a bone to pick with me, as well." His eyes lifted to take in the rest of the room. "I would have faced a very boring night if you hadn't come. Relying on others' dates for a dance typically doesn't end well..." This was Trey's inadvertent way of asking Sice to dance with him later...whether it would work or not was another mystery entirely.
Supposing that they couldn't stand there to the side of the activity the entire night (though he certainly would not have minded doing just that), Trey gestured over Sice's shoulder to the food and gathering of people. Looked to Trey like the event was starting. "Though...Seven isn't hovering over you anymore and we'll be starting any moment now. You have a chance to leave if you genuinely don't want to be here." Trey shrugged his shoulder slightly. If Sice didn't believe she was going to enjoy herself tonight, he didn't want to impose on her (even if he was going against Seven's wishes). That didn't mean he didn't want her to stay...in fact, far from it. He'd be disappointed if she didn't. "I'd be thrilled if you stayed and at least had dinner."
Outside, he was calm and understanding.
Inside?

Sice was secretly thankful and grateful when Trey came along to pull her away from the mob of students that had been gathering around her. If Seven had made her stay for the entire duration of this dance, she might have possibly gone insane if that was going to be the outcome. But, she had been pulled away from the amazingly claustrophobic space known as attention and surprise. She took a moment to regain herself, and her breath, before Trey asked her his question and she went off on him.
But, she had caught herself and regained a little more of her composure. She had gained so much pent up rage that she had needed to find some sort of way to release it all. Trey had given her that and she had taken the opportunity unconsciously. Sighing as she actually apologized for her behavior, she tightened her arms and tried to look everywhere in every which direction, except at the archer in front of her. All of this, the dance, the people, the music, everything was making her uncomfortable and that wasn't good. And the shoes she was wearing weren't exactly helping with that. She had gotten used to the dress she had been forced in, but her feet were already starting to pound with slight pain. These...daggers she had on her feet were much different than her usual heeled boots. Those were comfortable and easy to move in. These were hell on earth, and she relished the thought of tearing and slashing them apart. But, once again, she was dejected at the thought that she had also been forced to keep her scythe back in her room. She was starting to think that Seven might have possibly planned all of this.
Trey's voice broke her out of her reverie, and she glanced at the blonde as said that he was glad that Seven had dragged her here and how it would have led to a boring night for him. She scoffed at the thought but she kept her mouth shut, just in case her anger took over her mouth again. She was sure that Trey would be able to entertain himself, whether it be by talking, or...talking. But, she was once again broken out of her thought as Trey motioned at something behind her and she turned to look. Tables. Ok, yeah, what was so great about tables? But her brain caught up with her, as well as Trey speaking what he meant. Now that everyone was basically here, the food was being set out and participants were either dancing to the music or sitting down to eat the scrumptious looking delights.
She turned back to Trey who basically asked her if she was going to stay or not, but more polite and as a statement, not a question. She pondered the thought for a moment. She would much rather like to head back to her dorm, change into the most comfortable pair of sweatpants she had and try to salvage the rest of the night. Or, she could stay and keep the chatty blonde company, because anybody else would cause her to have a headache and embarrassment, and voluntarily cause herself an immense amount of torment. As much as she would have liked to take the former option, since she believed that she had been there long enough that leaving wouldn't constitute that she was a coward, she sighed and uncrossed her arms, having them swing at her sides.
"I suppose that I'll stay for the food. But only because I don't want to have to go back to my dorm and cook myself. Once dinner is over and done with I am finding the nearest exit and getting the hell out of this hellhole."
