Custom Title: (Optional)
Age: 68
Gender: male
Family: Grimoire Valentine - father - deceased - from Midgar
Arienne Valentine - mother - deceased - from Wutia
Race: Gaian - human - modified through experimentation
Sexual Orientation: pansexual bordering strongly on asexual.
Home World: Gaia
Alignment: Neutral/Good
Job: Head of Espionage in the WRO
Items: hi-potion, ether
Accessories: Key chains: Vincent uses magic by attaching key chains to his weapons. He also possess a long and short barrel to attach to his gun.
Appearance Vincent has long silky black hair, which is very straight and thicker than it first appears. It never frizzes. In fact, it pretty much looks like a well prepared mess, which is fortunate because Vincent doesn't do a thing to it. The shade is entirely ebony black, without lots of different tones. His hair is down to the middle of his shoulder blades and not entirely the one length.
Vincent's face is pale, very pale, with an almost grey pallor due to the fact he did not receive any vitamin D through sunlight. His skin is an even tone, that doesn't change over his entire body.
His eyes are a warm red, that usually appear cold to most observers. They can be warm, though, if the mood and situation was right. His eyes have long black distinct eyelashes.
His cheeks are high, and his face is long with a slender nose. His face is half obscured with a heavy red cloak which sits thick on his shoulders. It tails off to a scraggly ends, ripped and torn. It is very useful when he needs to use it to travel in such a way that is fast, flexible and dexterous. It is long enough that parts of it almost reach the ground
Vincent wears black leather adorned with various buckles for practical use and decorative reasons. On his right hand he wears a black leather glove and on his left he wears a golden coloured gauntlet with sharp fingers. His boots are covered in metal which are also good weapons.
Personality: Vincent is a calm, cool and collected soul. He keeps calm under pressure. His heart doesn't start beating fast to the point where he feels out of breath. He can maintain his focus through whatever distraction is thrown his way, and maintain his composure. His composure is not phased by almost everything. The only thing to break it is his broken heart. Lucrecia.
His coolness under any pressures and uncanny ability to compartmentalise everything he experiences makes people think he's cold hearted and unable to feel emotion. Vincent is not heartless. Vincent can be cold, however. He has no time for time wasters, jokers, or bullies. He doesn't easily move to emotion and never has. His apparent apathy over other's pain, often makes them react badly. Vincent doesn't treat anyone like a child, nor coddle them. He is not inclined to protect people from emotional pain, nor jump into their business. It is not his job to protect them.
Vincent is a reserved man, who dislikes being the centre of attention. He shies away from social interactions and frivolous conversations. He has no interest in talking about nothing for the sake of maintaining a tie. If you are an ally, or a friend, that connection should matter more than how often they happen to talk or see each other. For Vincent, strength of ties, and the emotions he feel for each member of AVALANCHE will not fade because he hasn't spoken to them for months or years. Vincent's love for Lucrecia had not faded from the moment he had began to feel it. Vincent does not particularly like company. He is a bit of a loner and prefers his own company. This is partly because he is shy. He had long since learned not to blush when people turn their attention on him, or look like he wants the ground to swallow him up. Despite being shy, and not liking conversation much, Vincent will speak up and draw attention to himself if there is something important to say or to be done. He will also indulge others, for example, Yuffie or another member of AVALANCHE to a conversation that is not particularly about anything, but it is polite. His reservation means it is difficult to get to know Vincent. One can know him for years but not get close to him. However that does not mean Vincent does not like you. His presence at Aerith's Church when Cloud was brought back is evidence of his warmth and affection for him, and the rest of AVALANCHE.
Polite and courteous, vincent doesn't say a bad thing about any one. He is not cruel with words, though can of course, be cruel and feel cruel. His automatic mode is to assume a polite one. He is benign to strangers and holds nothing against them. He will defend his friends if it seems as though they cannot handle the situation themselves, however.
Vincent can be cruel. He holds a great rage over what Hojo did to him, and his failure over Sephiroth and his inability to prevent Lucrecia from experimenting and torturing her own child before he was even born. Rage builds within Vincent. He had a tight control over his emotions. He does not wear his heart on his sleeve and keeps his opinions to himself - and often, when he is asked for them, he states them plainly with little to no emotion. It appears as though he holds no conviction in them, but the very fact he holds them and he chose to tell you proves Vincent trusts you and indeed does agree/disagree or feel something over it (otherwise he wouldn't hold the opinion at all). Trust is hard for Vincent, who had lived as a Turk and was betrayed by his love, but it is possible for him. He demonstrates his trust in little ways. He also has faith in other people's abilities - though telling them so would come under coddling in his mind - but allowing them to do what they want is his way of saying they are more than capable of doing it (especially if his, or someone he cares about) is to be affected by your actions.
Vincent bottles his emotion. His emotion are not yours. They are private and Vincent is a private person. His emotions keep, then, for a very long time. He can hold grudges and desire revenge but you tend to need to have done something rather big for Vincent to want to hurt you. It is easy to forget sometimes that he was a Turk but Vincent does find killing easy. He feels nothing over the enemies he slays nor feels remorse over their death. Vincent though, does not find it easy to forgive. Once you're in his bad books you more or less stay that way, but since it is pretty difficult to get there you probably don't have to worry.
Vincent's natural stance is annoyance. Vincent is rather easy to annoy but that being said, he is also very tolerant and patient.. He allows others to talk to him when he doesn't want to be spoken to, and to generally cajole him into doing things he doesn't want to do. Yuffie, is the particular culprit here. Connected to tolerance, is Vincent's love of children, whom he adores, secretly. Children have always been a soft spot for Vincent who would put his own life on the line to protect them. He's not easily frustrated and his strong willed persistence means he can do the same thing over and over again easily. He's not a restless man, nor does he constantly require to be doing something. He is able to listen to the advice of others and take it on board. He is not proud, nor feel that he has to prove a point by not heeding what others say in warning or in threat. Getting help is not being weak - being weak is needing help and not asking for it.
Vincent is not sarcastic, though does understand it. He doesn't really have a sense of humour and finds it difficult to see the light things in life. He is full of remorse, guilt and regret. But Vincent is not sorry for his past actions, even if he does regret some aspects of them. Vincent doesn't apologise because he thinks apologies are bogus. Saying the words doesn't really mean anything but doing something does.
Vincent's warmth is hidden beneath layers of reserved distance. Fondness and affection invites undesired communications which Vincent does not wish to deal with. As a result Vincent keeps them to himself and tends not to vocalise his likes but once one gets to know him, they can see how he subtly reveals himself. While naturally suspicious and wary at first, Vincent turns out to be a very loyal ally, who has come to the aide even of his now supposed enemies, the Turks, when they had required assistance in a time of need. He's reliable, modest and honourable. If Vincent makes a promise (he won't) he'll keep it.
His sense of humour has been turned dark over the years, warped by his life, and odd apathy. It can emerge at odd times.
History: Vincent is the eldest of identical twins and his mother died giving birth to his younger brother. There was a complication, and later his father mumbled something about infection and haemorrhaging. Vincent had always been a mature young man, and took it upon himself to protect and look after his younger brother. Both he had his younger brother caught an virus when they were 13 leaving them both very ill. For a reason the doctors hadn't been able to explain, the strain was more vigorous in his little brother than in Vincent himself, so he was easier to treat than his sibling. His little brother died, and Grimoire Valentine noted his eldest son was never the same again.
Grimoire had wanted Vincent to be a scientist just like himself, though the ebony haired man had never had any interest in it. Nor did he at any level of his being desire to work with Hojo, whom he disliked even before he had met him - and Vincent didn't make a habit of disliking people he had never met, and therefore couldn't possibly know.
Being intelligent allowed Vincent to learn quickly, and adapt easily. He aced his tests and in rebellion to his father decided to join the Turks. He had no interest in SOLDIER and the Turks offered better opportunities - higher pay, more challenging work, more intensive weapons training and it was a bit of a 'screw you' to his father. Vincent had told Grimoire he didn't want to be just like his father because his dad told him to be. He wanted to do something he enjoyed. Continuous arguments lead Vincent down a path he wouldn't necessarily have went down had their relationship been whole. The death of his brother put a strain on everything.
Some time after joining the Turks Vincent's relationship with his father was repaired and he began to learn of Lucrecia Crescent, a scientist who was working with his father. Vincent's assignments as a Turk tended to range from espionage, interrogation, information gathering and compiling, leaving false trails, cryptography, clean up, faking evidence, checking reports for errors, ensuring the Turks got the correct and most up to date information for the missions and body guarding. He seemed to miss the most gruesome of missions, and always wondered if his father had something to do with that.
His infatuation with Lucrecia began with these hints of her during discussions with his father. Vincent made an effort to show an interest in science (which, being the son of a scientist and clever meant he knew a little bout it and could follow the thread coherently but not really discuss it in depth) and considerately never talked about his own work. Through pictures and anecdotes Vincent found himself liking a girl he had never met. Then, suddenly, his father died. It hadn't taken much for him to discover G Substance had killed him and that Dr Crescent had been present at the time - it was all in the report.
By some twisted chance, when Lucrecia started on Hojo's latest project, and began to recieve death threats, Vincent was assigned to her protection detail. He was immediately besotted. His crush, over time, evolved to love and his heart was broken to discover it was one sided. Her pregnancy with Hojo's child had crushed him, but he would have been there for her no matter what. He would have raised Sephiroth as his own, and told her so. He also begged and pleaded with her not to allow her unborn child to be used in an experiment. He probably should have asked himself then, just how cold Lucrecia was that she could use and abuse her own son for the sake of discovery - and often Hojo's experiments resulted in nothing but pain and ruin. Vincent blames himself for not trying harder and speaking up sooner, but his desire to do as she wished, and his shyness had prevented him from doing so.
Enough was enough when Lucrecia fell ill. Unable to change her mind, Vincent confronted Hojo with the intention of stopping him, only to be shot in the torso. Slowly dying, Vincent's only memories of this time are distant cackles, twisted pain, straps, bubbling mako and seeing himself furry blue. What happened was Hojo experimented on Vincent using strains of DNA from monsters. He was considered a failure due to his unconscious state due to the fact he was dying from the gunshot wound. But Hojo's work had made Vincent's body durable enough to withstand multiple consecutive transformations, and house chaos.
Lucrecia, in her attempt to save Vincent, fused him with Chaos tainted Mako. Chaos, was violent, blood thirsty, full of rage and uncontrollable. But he did increase vincent's ability to heal (also evidenced out of this time line, when Rosso pulled the protomateria from his chest which left a gaping hole in it, and within a couple of hours it had healed), and endurance. Lucrecia discovered the only way to control Chaos was through the Protomateria which she fused with his chest, and is revealed only in his Chaos form.
For his sins, and disgust and inability to deal with recent events, Vincent locked himself in a coffin to sleep away forever. His penance was not to live the second chance he had been granted, to suffer the pain of love lost and child loss forever. His nightmares played the same thing over and over, until, one day, he was discovered by Verdot and the other Turks with him, including Reno and Rude. Vincent, knowing what they were looking for, provided them with their quarry and went back to sleep.
Cloud Strife was the next to rouse him. Unable to allow Sephiroth to rain hell on Gaia (it was Vincent's duty to stop him) and wanting to exact revenge on Hojo, Vincent joined him. During Meteor Fall, Vincent helped Yuffie evacuate the city.
Along the way Vincent became good friends with Reeve who employed him as part of the WRO. Vincent wasn't seen much after the events of Meteor Fall, but knowing the others would worry - particularly Tifa - he occasionally dropped by a message he was doing just fine and was indeed still alive.
When Sephiroth returned in the form of remnants, it was Vincent who followed them and discovered what they were up to. He rescued Cloud who was overcome with Geostigma during a fight with all three and informed him of the information he was looking for, not realising Cloud hadn't realised Kadaj was the strongest remnant of Sephiroth and that joining with JENOVA would most likely result in the manifestation of Sephiroth, piggy backing on Kadaj's body. He also decided to assist in the fight against Bahamut Sin because he wanted to be assured of everyone's safety, even though he knew they could handle it themselves. When Cloud died, Vincent was there at Aerith's Church waiting his return. Though he did not speak, nor did his facial muscles move much, he was glad of his friend's return.
Abilities: Chaos: is his strongest 'Limit Break'. Chaos can keep anything Vincent has on him and use it. He provides increased strength, speed, agility and endurance. He also can produce energy blasts.
Death Gigas: Provides increased strength and endurance. Death Gigas, however is slow and a bit difficult to move, and while produces powerful punches can be dodged. .
Hellmasker: Provides increased strength, endurance. Vincent produces combos in this form and is quicker than Death Gigas but still isn't as nimble or agile as he normally is.
Galiant Beast: A big beast which is strong and sturdy. Galiant Beast provides increased strength and endurance and agility, but speed remains as Vincent's own. He can produce fire blasts against opponents.
Crimson Mist: Vincent has complete control over his ability to morph into a kind of malleable shape which is highly dexterous, nimble, agile and fast. Vincent can take one other person with him whilst using it if need be. He cannot transform into any of his creatures whilst using it. It does provide protection against swords, bullets and knives.
Summons: None!
Magic: Fire
Blizzard
Thunder
Air - provides a buffer against physical attacks

Strengths: Vincent Valentine is a determined man, who is not easily deterred by anything nor anyone. Initial failure implies he has to try another way, not give up, though continued failure will cause him to desist. His persistence is admirable but not foolhardy or foolish. He lacks selfishness, but does not necessarily think of others.
Vincent is extremely skilled in the gathering of evidence and the deciphering of codes. He is subtle, and knows how to be a shadow and not make waves. He can work in a team effectively but prefers working on his own. He doesn't need anyone to watch his every move as he can take care of himself, though a partner is not always necessarily unwanted.
Vincent has a very good memory, a keen eye for detail and supreme focus. He is nearly impossible to distract and hides a loving, shy nature.
Vinent is very agile, nimble and quick on his feet. He has fantastic aim and eye sight due to years training and honing skills as a sharp shooter - he can shoot long and short range. He has gymnastic capabilities which allow him to twist, turn and fight aerially.
Weaknesses: Due to his shyness and naturally reserved, private nature Vincent fails at social interactions. He is not good with casual conversation and can appear harsh when he is simply answering the question you asked, rather than talking around it in a more flowery, gentle way.
Physically, he's not actually that strong.
Failure weighs heavily on his heart and mind, and while he doesn't go over it like Cloud does, he never forgets nor can forgive himself for it.
He's not very good at making friends and first impressions can go either way with him. His nature is quick to annoy which can deter new allies from forming.
His ability to compartmentalise and see the big picture, and the truth of a situation can make him seem cold, cruel and unfeeling.
