Kimahri Ronso
"Kimahri will do what must be done."
Custom Title: Steadfast Guardian
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Family: Never divulged.
Race: Ronso
Sexual Orientation: Never divulged; assumed heterosexual.
Home World: Spira
Alignment: Let's just say he's one of the good guys.
Job: Former Summoner Guardian, Current Ronso Elder/Travelling Warrior
Items: Just his spear and an armlet for defense.
Accessories: Ronso necklace.
Appearance Like all Ronso, Kimahri is covered in blue fur from head to toe. He bears a "mane" of bright grey, almost silver hair, tied into warrior braids on either side of his face and a short ponytail behind his head. He is remarkably short -- for a Ronso -- only standing at six foot eight inches tall. His eyes are yellow and have elongated, feline pupils, and his teeth are pointed after the carnivorous fashion of big cats. His horn, ivory white in color, has been broken off and only part of it remains. He bears odd "wings" on his back, which seem vestiegal if they are anything, as they serve no apparent purpose. He wears an intricate Ronso warrior's dress, consisting primarily of a loincloth and leather bracers overlaid with chain on his forearms.
Personality: Kimahri is a steadfast, withdrawn Ronso warrior who appears wise beyond his years. He has his reasons f or being so, though he keeps them to himself for the most part, and instead puts on a mask of indifference and bravery to mask how uncertain he can be within -- especially over his own decisions. He is a harsh judge of himself and seems to expect to make errors in any given task, though he does his best not to let this show whenever possible.
Like all Ronso, Kimahri is a tad bullheaded and stubborn, sticking to Ronso tradition and refusing outside help in most cases, preferring to deal with his own problems. His way of speaking can make him seem less than intelligent, but don't let that fool you; he's far from lacking in intelligence.
Mostly out of shame over his broken horn, Kimahri rarely speaks to anyone. Whenever he does, he only talks to those he likes and trusts, which is a main part of why he does not initially talk to Tidus. The first time he speaks during Final Fantasy X is following Operation Mi'ihen, when he reminds Tidus who is shocked to hear Kimahri talk at all that he must keep a bright exterior and happy face to help brighten Yuna's journey. From then on, Kimahri only talks when necessary and usually offers helpful advice when he does speak.
History: Kimahri's guardianship of Yuna began long before she officially decided to become a summoner. After departing from Mt. Gagazet in shame ten years before Final Fantasy X began, Kimahri discovered a dying Auron who had managed to crawl all the way from the Zanarkand Ruins while wounded outside Bevelle. Auron told Kimahri about the daughter of High Summoner Braska, Yuna, and asked him to fulfill a promise Auron had made to Braska in his stead: to remove Yuna from Bevelle and transport her to the island of Besaid, where she may grow up peacefully.
Kimahri honored Auron's request and made sure Yuna arrived in Besaid safely. When his task was completed, he prepared to depart, but Yuna pleaded with him to remain with her and he complied. After Yuna becomes a summoner, Kimahri becomes her guardian and joins her pilgrimage to obtain the Final Aeon.
His dynamic with Tidus isn't the best early on - he actually attacks Tidus when he first sees him - but in time, he grows to trust the young blitzer, talking to him for the first time after the failed Operation Mi'ihen and (if the right conditions are fulfilled) acknowledges Tidus as his friend.
After Yuna's forced wedding to Seymour a powerful unsent Guado with the belief peace can only be achieved in death and subsequent escape to the temple, Kimahri willingly helps Tidus break into the Chamber of the Fayth despite the taboos in order to ensure Yuna's safety. Kimahri's main character growth occurs when he finally returns to Mt. Gagazet and is confronted by Biran and Yenke Ronso in a two-on-one match to test whether or not he is worthy to climb Mt. Gagazet. He proves his worth as a Ronso in defeating the two, and Biran is proud to see Kimahri surpassing him. The Ronso make a vow to stop anyone from the temples who pursue Yuna and her companions. Unfortunately, in trying to stop Seymour, nearly the entire Ronso tribe is slaughtered.
After the defeat of Sin, Yuna's Eternal Calm began, and a year later, Kimahri left Besaid to move back to Mt. Gagazet, where he became the new Elder of the Ronso tribe. Another year after that, he discovered a sphere on the mountain that sparks Yuna's new journey depicted in Final Fantasy X-2.
During Final Fantasy X-2, Kimahri has to face various issues as the new elder of the Ronso tribe, most notably the rebellion of a young Ronso named Garik, who desires to seek vengeance upon the Guado for the grievances they caused two years prior under Seymour's command. Kimahri, however, wants to make peace with the Guado and seeks to abate Garik's anger. Another notable issue Kimahri faces is the disappearance of two Ronso pups (children), Lian and Ayde, who leave the mountain in search of adventure and a way to fix Kimahri's broken horn.
Kimahri could not search for them himself because, as Elder, he cannot leave Gagazet while dealing with Garik's rage and urge for revenge. Simultaneously, Kimahri is faced with the plight of deciding a new path for the Ronso future, as their way of life changed once the mountain was no longer considered sacred Yevon ground, and summoners were no longer passing through on pilgrimages to the Zanarkand Ruins. The Ronso were left without the purpose of guarding the mountain for the sake of Yevon as they long had in the past. Furthermore, Garik's unwillingness to consent to Kimahri's wishes that peace be made with the Guado are due in large part to Kimahri's inability to decide a new path for the future of the Ronso. With Kimahri unable to do this, Garik feels he was unworthy to be the Ronso elder.
Eventually, Lian and Ayde return and based on their descriptions of their experiences in the outside world Kimahri realizes all Ronso should follow the example of Lian and Ayde in trying to find their own paths while working together to forge a better future for one another, and that he alone cannot provide an answer to what the future of the entire group should be. As a result, Garik and Kimahri fight with Kimahri telling Garik he must find his own answers instead of relying on his elder. The two reconcile and the Ronso craft a statue in Kimahri's image, representing his status as the hero of the tribe.
Abilities:
- Lancet: With a roar, Kimahri can siphon energy from an opponent to restore his own physical health and magical energy, and potentially leech or learn one of the opponent's moves. The healing is minor, but reliable enough.
- Jump: Using his spear to vault up high, Kimahri leaps up several dozen feet into the air and comes crashing down, spear-first with a heavy blow.
- Thrust Kick: Kimahri begins with a dashing sweep kick to knock an opponent's legs out from under them, and then braces himself with his spear and delivers a powerful straight kick with all of his strength to knock an opponent down or send them flying.
- Scan: Reveals detailed information on a single target. Simple, but quite useful.
- Threaten: With a wave of force projected from a feigned attack, Kimahri frightens an opponent into short-term paralysis. It only lasts a short time (read: one post), but it's useful enough to warrant an occasional use.
Summons: No summons here.
Magic: Nah, no magic here.
Strengths:
- Ronso: As a Ronso, Kimahri is just naturally tougher than a "normal" person. Even as small as Kimahri is -- for a Ronso, at any rate -- he's still superior to a normal human. In a fair fight, no normal man could beat a Ronso, it's said. Kimahri's not as tough and strong as his larger "family", but he's still got plenty of strength to go around. And let us not forget the feline heritage of the Ronso. Their senses are more acute all around, and their role as predatory, carnivorous animals only serves to make them yet more keen.
- Skilled Fighter: Kimahri knows how to fight. That's all that can be said. Despite not having an ounce of "formal" training in his life, he can still stand with the likes of a legendary guardian like Auron in a battle. And don't think he's just limited to his spear, either; deprive him of that and he's still a force to be reckoned with using just his bare claws.
- Courage: Like the lion he partly is, Kimahri has an unshakeable sense of courage, never backing down from any challenge set before him, or even evincing any sign of fear.
- Loyalty: Kimahri is unswervingly loyal. If he says he will do something, it will be done, that's all there is to it.
Weaknesses:
- Withdrawn: Kimahri is highly reserved and withdrawn, preferring to suffer in silence and tend to his problems himself.
- Distrustful: It takes a lot to earn Kimahri's trust in most cases. And he won't even spare someone he doesn't trust a second glance in most instances.
- Stubborn: Kimahri just won't quit. Ever. Being that hopelessly stubborn and die-hard can sometimes be a very bad thing.
Weapon Kimahri wields a specially designed spear, suitable for slashing as well as thrusting. It is Ronso-made, and so is much tougher and more durable than it looks. And if it comes down to it, he's also got his bare hands and claws.
Crushes: Nope.

Role Play Sample:
It's always been said that Ronso must deal with Ronso problems....that was something everyone in Spira knew. It was perhaps a bit foolish, and more than a little stubborn, but that was the Ronso way. It was a cultural way that was ingrained as firmly as the stone of mighty Gagazet itself; there would be no changing it, even if a change had been wanted. It was unfortunate, because at the moment....a bit of outside help would have been rather useful. Ronso were not normally renowned for their intelligence or rational problem-solving capabilities....and this new bit of trouble was proving to elude their best efforts so far.
The problem? A rather simple one....a strange portal had been sighted near Gagazet's base, and when a curious young Ronso had stepped through it, that was all that was heard of them. It was disregarded at first; young Ronso were always disappearing on interesting adventures. But when the time of his disappearance dragged on into the weeks, the young Ronso elder began to grow concerned himself.
"Ronso deal with Ronso problems....Ronso problems Elder problems....Kimahri elder...." Pacing slowly between the ancient stone posts that held the archway which marked the beginning of the trail up the snowy mount, Kimahri mumbled to himself. ".....Ronso problems Kimahri problems. Kimahri wish he knew what to do." He slowly ground to a halt in his pacing, and lifted his gaze to peer up through the gently swirling snow toward Gagazet's peak.
"Elder cannot leave Gagazet....Kimahri cannot go search himself. But no one else want to go. That is trouble..." His eyes swept over the snow-covered peaks, as if he were searching for an answer to this little dilemma among them. "Kimahri not know what to do. Gagazet not have answers for Kimahri, either. Elder should know what to do....so mountain is silent..." A low growl rose from him as he turned away from the mountain, pacing slowly in a circle.
"Kimahri know what he should do. Should just go, worry about consequences later." He stopped in his tracks, facing down the trail that led to the mountain's base....and he saw an odd creature dashing up it at full speed. It ran on all fours, and was large and muscular, but it was not a Fiend; or if it was, it was a variety Kimahri had never seen before. It let out a horrendous growl and leapt forward, sailing an impossible distance through the air, right at the Ronso Elder.
Kimahri reacted instinctively.
Not having time to draw his spear, he instead struck out with his bare claws, catching the thing in its snout. Most of its momentum still carried, but its fanged jaws were knocked aside and the worst of the blow was averted. Sprawling back from the impact of the impromptu tackle, Kimahri managed to roll back and sideways, hurling the wolf-like creature away. Landing in a feral crouch, one arm braced against the ground, Kimahri reached back with his other and drew forth his spear.
"Kimahri's course decided now."
And with that bold declaration, he pounced. His initial launch carried him like a blue blur, and he leapt onto the still recovering animal, his spear flashing up in an arc for a slicing blow, then coming down point-first and striking the creature in its head, silencing it. Sparing one last look at Gagazet's snowy peak, Kimahri nodded heavily, then jerked his spear free and dashed down the path that lead toward the mountain's base, crouched in a ready stance for whatever else he would find.
