Selphie struggled and struggled. Whimpering, green eyes opened wider to try and see around her, but her gaze was met with a black empty space. Nothing to greet her, nothing to make her know that her friends would come save her. “Zelly?”, she whimpered out, before struggling against her invisible bonds. “Quisty?”, came next, in a pitiful whisper. She went through the names of all her close friends, her calls getting louder and louder. And even still no one could hear her. And then she saw them. Being held back by those same bonds, Selphie could see her friends laughing and joking, Zell ruffling Squall’s hair, Rinoa teasing Squall. Despite her best efforts however, she couldn’t get to them. Crying their names over and over, Selphie tried her hardest to get away and be able to join them. Join them laughing and their happiness. “GUUUUUUYSSSS!”, she shouted after them, struggling to get to them, before a vision of a blonde boy came into focus, his blue chocobo with him. “Maqui?”, she whimpered out then, before his voice sliced through the air. “They’re not coming for you Selphie. Not…coming,” his voice floated back to her, just making her more anxious.
The poor girl twisted and muttered in her sleep, dreams mixing with reality until she didn’t know which was which. Finally it cleared when she sat up in bed, yelling “GUYS!”, tears streaming down her cheeks. Blinking rapidly, Selphie curled her legs up, staring into the darkness that was her room. The familiar place served to calm her down slightly, wrapping her arms around her leg and placing her head on her knees. Hiccuping from the crying she had been doing, Selphie wiped her hand across her face, taking the tears with it. It wasn’t New Bodhum. She was back home, in Balamb Garden. Her friends were just a short walk away…there was nothing to worry about. Nothing to worry about…
But what if they had all left?! What if for some reason they weren’t there?! Heart rate quickened again, muddled mind turning to the events that had led to the destruction of Trabia Garden, her home place and where all of her friends had been killed. What if…what if- her heart constricted. Kicking off the covers and sheet that had wrapped themselves up in her legs due to the thrashing, Selphie jumped out of bed, terrified that she was going to walk out of her room and they were all going to be gone. Fresh tears sprung into her eyes then, finally throwing off most of the covers, she wrapped a little fuzzy one around herself. Not caring that she was in pajamas, or that her hair was plastered this way and that on her head, Selphie started toward the door, needing to find out if they were still there.
But where to go? Rinoa was a good option, but Selphie had tried to wake her up in the past, and it was about as easy as waking the dead. Squall would grumble forever if she woke him up with jut a silly little matter like a nightmare. Quisty probably had duties to attend to early with classes, and Irvine…well Irvine was a definite no. Zell. He wouldn’t mind if she went to him. With that in mind, Selphie exited her room, tip toeing up the hallway, headed toward Zell’s room. Without knocking on his door, Selphie pushed it open, standing in the doorway for a second before closing it. She’d been in his room plenty of times now, so it wasn’t hard to feel her way over toward where his bed was. “Zelly?”, she whispered out miserably. No reply, but the gentle snores soothed her that he was still here and hadn’t left her behind somewhere. Selphie scuttled over by his bed and poked at his side, tears still in her eyes. “Zell?”, she tried again, her miserable look still there. If there was one thing she was afraid of, it was being left behind. “Zelly I had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you?”, came the same pitiful little voice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 894 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Zell! Snores, light snores, that’s all that could be heard throughout the dorm of Zell Dincht. With those small snores, he turned slightly his way and that, but nothing all too weird. He was having a few dreams throughout the night, nothing all that exciting, just the images of his friends, a few hotdogs and of course that dreaded blue chocobo, Cookie, who had tried to eat Zell’s hair right off his head back on New Bodhum. A small sleepy smirk came onto his lips as his dream continued, showing that bird who was boss, which was obviously Zell, not Cookie, but the image of Selphie had distracted even his sleepy self. No need to bicker with a chocobo, even in your dreams, but whatever. One might say Zell was finally getting a good night’s sleep since he and Selphie had returned from their adventure across Pulse, not that they got very far before finding a portal that led them back here to Balamb Garden. It was weird, yet very convenient. Oh well, whatever got them home, Zell was thankful for it.
Rolling over and pulling his blankets up further towards his face, Zell’s dream twisted. Next came Seifer, and an obvious look of frustrated crossed the sleeping teen’s face as he muttered out something about not being a chicken wuss. Whatever. Seifer was just a big jerk and could fall into the ocean for all Zell cared, not that he’d ever wish something like that on anyone, but…it was just…you know what? Who cares. As his night of sleep continued on, he rarely moved anymore, his dreams turning into a big blank, not seeing much as he drifted into the deepest part of his sleep, he snored lightly still, not expecting anything or anyone to come into his room, in fact, he was pretty out of it as it was. Soon though…he’d have to get up for the next day, whatever it brought, if anything at all. Maybe T-boarding? Bugging Squall in his ‘headmaster’s’ office, or…something else fun, whatever it was, Zell wasn’t even thinking about it. He was just…asleep.
Within the darkness of his dream, which wasn’t even a dream, just nothingness, he heard his name being softly spoken, breaking him away from that deep sleep which he craved earlier in the evening. A low mumble of his voice escaped his lips, but the words were unrecognizable. Turning slightly and squishing his face closer to the pillow below him, he heard his name again, followed by a request of some sorts. Had it been time to wake up yet? Surely not. Zell lazily and tiredly opened one eye about halfway, looking through the darkness only half awake and not really sure what was going on, but to whatever request the girl in his room, Selphie, had made, Zell simply shuffled over a little bit. “Mhm, sure...Selphie.” He replied, after having not really thought through her request, he just…sort of went with it, feeling his mind drift back into that deep sleep he wanted. Not really thinking about the fact that he was letting Selphie sleep in his bed because of a nightmare, but hey…he was being a good friend, but had he been awake and able to comprehend what was being said, you can bet his heart rate would’ve picked up and his words would’ve been shuffled and nervous. This…was truly being carefree.
Snuggling into the blankets though, Zell was too focused on sleep to think about a girl sleeping in his bed. Whatever, Selphie got his permission, and she even got him to scoot over to make room for her! How…interesting was this already? Zell would probably have a heart attack in the morning, but that could wait…after a few more hours of well needed rest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 724 Muse: Excellent! Waiting for him to wake up seemed to be taking forever. Standing there pitifully, she wrapped her little blanket around her body tighter and poked him again, hoping that he would wake up and comfort her. She wanted someone to comfort her, and Zell seemed like the one that would be most likely to do that. Besides, she had already been close to him, and he had been the one to be her hero and save her from being in another world. One wasn’t likely to forget that, especially when you grew up with little girl fantasies of knights in shining armor coming to save you if you needed help. Zell definitely didn’t have any shining armor, but he’d been awfully heroic with saving her, and fun along with it. Yes, if anyone could make her feel better it was him. After what seemed like hours – despite only being a few short seconds- of his soft snoring without a pause, Selphie debated on just crawling in and seeing how that went. By the morning she’d probably be flattened like a pancake.
Finally he moved! Success! Hesitating to poke him again, she wondered if he had heard what he said and thought about repeating what she had said, when he told her that it was alright. Without waiting for any second invitations, Selphie jumped on him saying it was alright. Crawling up onto his bed, Selphie snuggled the blanket around her and scooted under the blankets toward where he was. Curling up by him, Selphie pressed her face against his chest and wrapped her arm around his body, relaxing instantly. To her, there was nothing weird about this, just thinking that she was being comforted. Into his chest she babbled about her nightmare, despite knowing that he was probably asleep again. “I was in somewhere dark, and…and I could see and hear you guys, but I couldn’t get to you. And then…and then Maqui and Cookie came and he told me that you guys weren’t coming. But…but that’s a lie, right? You’d always come for me, wouldn’t you Zelly?”, she babbled on into the material on his chest, not expecting an answer. Odd, but telling him about it helped her to relax more. Shifting slightly, Selphie wiped the tear streaks on her cheek and sighed into his chest again.
He was so nice and warm, and nice smelling and she found herself relaxing. “You know, I think what scares me most in life, is thinking I’m going to be alone.”, she continued on. After the nightmare Selphie couldn’t sleep, her mind continuing to replay what she had dreamed. It was just a dream, she kept reminding herself, but that didn’t exactly make her feel any better about it. What if it did happen where she couldn’t get to them ever? A chill went through her, causing her to shiver and cling tighter to the blonde youth by her. “But that won’t happen, right? I can always get you guys, you won’t leave me behind, will you?” The desperate little plea went out still with her not expecting an answer. Shifting again, Selphie used his shoulder as a pillow and tucked his blankest up toward her chin. He was so nice and warm, and she could hardly think straight anymore.

Zell really wasn’t aware of anything that was going on right now, he was pretty tired and was barely half awake while Selphie was in his room, poking at him and trying to ask him stuff. At first he thought it was time to get up, but the darkness around him when he opened one eye was enough to convince him that it was still the middle of the night, enough time to sleep before he really had to get up! Of course he shuffled over a little bit and made room for Selphie, she’d asked to sleep in his bed, okay cool, he still wasn’t really getting the fact that there was a girl in his bed now, not that his mind would’ve wandered anywhere anyways. Selphie was one of his best friends and if she was scared, he probably would’ve done the same thing had he been fully awake, that was just how nice Zell was, especially to her.
His one eye opened again, the other closed as he felt Selphie have her arm around him, snuggling close to her, and out of niceness and stuff, to comfort her, he brought his arm up and around her shoulder before closing his eyes again. He slowly started to fade back into that deep sleep, but still able to hear Selphie’s words as she talked about her dream. A dark place…her friends, horrible blue hair eating chocobo from New Bodhum…it didn’t sound like a great dream, a nightmare though, that was why she was here wasn’t it? When she asked Zell if he’d always come for her, he shifted around a bit, still having one arm around her – it was more comfortable that way – and soon he began to mumble out a response, hopefully she understood his tired words. “Yeah…I’ll always come for you.” He mumbled out before shifting again, wanting to sleep again, and as soon as his words had been spoken, he started to shut out everything, aside from Selphie’s voice of course. Whether he was comfortable, warm, or anything, he just wanted to sleep and hopefully Selphie would be feeling better soon so she would sleep as well.
Nightmares were always the worst, and if Zell hadn’t been so dang tired, he probably would’ve woken up a bit more, sat with her and talked about it, to assure her that neither he nor their friends would ever leave her behind. That wasn’t something friends did, after all. Her last words were a blur to him, he was soon snoring softly again with Selphie at his side. Can’t blame a guy for being tired now, could you? In the morning, or whenever he decided to wake up, then they could talk and he could do all that comforting assuring her and stuff. For now, he lazily patted her arm and mumbled out a, “try…an’ sleep some.” It was amazing he could even function at this hour, whatever hour it was, so long as the brunette was feeling better about where she was, then the sooner she’d get to sleep. What better way to be assured that someone wasn’t going to leave you, then by snuggling them in their own bed while trying to come back from the horrors of a nightmare that sounded truly frightening? Though he didn’t do or speak much this evening, Zell thought he was doing a pretty good job at this whole ‘comforting’ thing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 668 Muse: Good! Selphie was instantly put to ease when he said that he would come for her. She knew he was half asleep, if not more so, but great comfort could be taken from her to know that even now, when he would rather be asleep then listening to her blabbering, that he would still hold true to his promise. Letting out her breath with a ‘whoosh’, she realized she had been holding it. Rolling and scooting toward him, Selphie tucked the blankets around her and wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on him. He was so…warm. Closing her eyes against the dark, Selphie felt the need to explain more about her dream. Perhaps it was still just nerves that kept her blabbing about nothing really. Still, it was important to her, and she wanted someone to share her fear, or at least know about it. Being alone was probably the scariest thing she could think of going through. Every time she thought about Maqui’s voice, so real in her head, telling her they wouldn’t be coming, she felt a shudder run through her body, tightening her grip on his body.
When he told her to go to sleep she sighed, cheek still pressed up against him, arms around his body. Selphie couldn’t care less that she was in Zell’s bed, not realizing what it was really implying. After all, she had gone through life in an innocent state of mind, and she continued with that childish innocence, something that made her Selphie Tilmitt. Yawning, she shook her head, thinking she was too keyed up to sleep right now. “I’ll go to sleep sometime Zelly, but I just keep hearing his voice,” she mentioned, picturing the blonde boy and his blue chocobo. Weren’t dreams supposed to mean something? Yeah, like your body trying to tell you something. So what did it mean? Opening her eyes, Selphie shifted closer to him –if that was even possible- and stared wide eyed at the ceiling she could barely see. What if that dream did mean something? Zell had found her once and they had been lucky enough to find their way back home due to a conveniently placed portal. There was no guarantee that it would ever happen like that again.
So what would she do if they really couldn’t come for her? Maybe it wasn’t that they didn’t want to come for her, but that they were unable. That made her even more miserable. Laying there staring wide eyed at the ceiling, she thought about the dream once more, tears pricking her eyes again. Squeezing them shut, she turned and snuggled against his chest, feeling his arm around her, comforting her. His breathing, with such a steady rhythm calmed her even more when she lifted her pajama shirt up and wiped the tears away. With another little sigh she listened to his breathing, staring at his chest. Selphie was thankful that he had allowed her to come in and that he was being so nice about it.
Lifting her head up, she stretched and planted a kiss on his cheek before dropping back down and closing her eyes again, a contented little smile on her face. “Thanks Zelly,” and after hesitating, she added on a second thought, “You’re the best,” and finally her muscles completely relaxed. A moment later she was asleep, clinging to him. And after that she slept peacefully, the nightmares chased away by her hero. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 777 <- awesome Muse:; Great! It seemed that Zell slept like a rock…at least until Selphie started talking and wanting to sleep in his bed. He wasn’t really aware of the situation, his mind registered the words, he didn’t really understand them though, too tired to really do anything about it, he’d mumbled comprehendible responses enough for the brunette to take advantage of them. Zell was sure in for a surprise the next morning if she was still there when he woke up, if she ever got to sleep. The more talking he would do though, the more awake he would become, but that was a slow process for the blonde. With Selphie afraid, even in his sleepy state, Zell almost felt protective and wasn’t aware he was doing it! He had one arm around her shoulder, his eyes closed and as if he wasn’t anything, he tried patting her arm to assure her he was there and would always come for her, like he had said, and like he had done when she was stuck on New Bodhum by herself, aside from the natives there of course.
“It was just a…a..nightmare…it’ll go away.” He mumbled in that sleepy tone with a yawn following his words before he pulled the blankets up a bit more closer towards his chin and chest. He was warm and comfortable, still unable to register the fact that Selphie was snuggling against him, and even if he did notice, what was he going to do? She was afraid, and he was being a good friend to her, no matter what, he’d always been the heroic type towards his friends, ready to give an arm and a leg for them to be happy. Selphie was no exception, she was one of his best friends, and he never minded doing things for her, it was kind of nice, and maybe that’s where the butterflies in his stomach had been coming from lately, spending so much time with her and seeing her in a different light. That wasn’t something he was even worry About right now, in his sleep, there was no nervousness or butterflies, just…dreams and nightmares that seemed all too real.
Zell had drifted a bit, moving back into that deep sleep he craved a little bit ago. The smallest of smiles was on his lips, though barely noticeable, and he didn’t really notice the kiss to his cheek, he just felt as if whoever was in his company right now was doing much better than before. With that comforting thought in mind, Zell just let himself fall back to sleep without even trying to stay half awake for Selphie’s sake. He was tired, she needed sleep as well, it was about time to sleep anyways, lord knowing what time it was, the day could start in a few short hours! Being half dead on your feet at the start of the day wasn’t good. “G’Night.” He mumbled out in a breath before coming dead silent – aside from those snores of his – and just…dreaming, of what? Maybe nothing at all, or maybe about a specific young lady who always seemed to wear a bright yellow dress.
The next few hours of nighttime were silent, Selphie was asleep, Zell was asleep, all was well. Soon the sun started poking through the window of Zell’s room, beaming almost directly at his face, causing him to close his eyes super tight and lift his hand to shield them. He felt as if he’d slept through the night, it had been a pretty good night’s sleep, he hadn’t tossed and turned restlessly, and when he finally felt something next to him, he dropped his hand from his face and let his bright blue eyes pop open. Shifting a bit and staring at a small brunette in his bed, Zell’s face twisted for a moment, a look of confusion written across his face as he gently slipped his arm away from her and sat up, running a hand through his messy hair and trying to remember what happened. It had finally dawned on him that he had slightly woken up in the night, Selphie had been afraid by some nightmare or something…and…he’d said he’d always come for her, that wasn’t something he’d forgotten, not even when he was half asleep. Glancing at a clock nearby, Zell wondered how long she’d been asleep. Gently shaking her shoulder, he spoke very quietly, not wanting to have a big booming voice to just startle the poor girl awake. “Selphie? You awake?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 860 Muse: Great! Tagged: Selphie Wearing: Pajamas Listening To: Dark Side: Kelly Clarkson Notes: <3

Happiness. It was all around her. As she clung to her friend, even deep in sleep it would seem as if the demons left her alone. Instead of the nightmares that she had been having about people leaving her behind, now it was the total opposite. A slight change in her position while sleeping, a little contented sigh. Her savior was watching over her, even in her sleep. The nightmares had been changed to dreams. Lovely dreams, of her friends laughing together. Fireworks and the beach, Matron’s orphanage. It was all there, locked away in her deepest thoughts, coming back in her sleep. She was at total peace, body relaxed and curled around the hyper blonde. The Guardian Forces had sapped many memories away from her, memories of the happy past, growing up in the orphanage alongside her friends – and Seifer…not so much a friend – but still they were there, floating around in the back of her head. Irvine had many more, since he hadn’t junctioned the GF’s, but slowly, trying hard to remember, she was doing so. It would seem that in sleep came real memories, surfacing to the top of her brain.
Some one was shaking her then. Thinking it was still part of her dream, the young girl just sighed long and rolled over, sleeping again. But the voice came through her foggy brain. The next moment intense green eyes, clouded somewhat by sleepiness, looked up at a mussy looking Zell. The same clouded look was in her smile when she grinned up at him. “I’m awake, are you?”, she groggily spoke out, scooting over toward him. When she got there, Selphie pulled herself into his lap and settled there again, head against his chest, more or less falling back to sleep again. Her breath got to be even again, cheek against his chest, snoring lightly.
Then her body told her to wake up again. Groaning a bit, Selphie turned and stretched like a cat, flopping her head against his chest again, not even knowing what she was doing in this state. “I swear I’m awake,” she mumbled out, a huge yawn making the last part just come out in mutterings that couldn’t be easily distinguished. “How did I get here?”, she mumbled out, peeking over at where she was, realizing that she was in Zell’s room. His room, and his bed, sitting on his lap, in pajamas. With a muddled, foggy mind, she just shook her head, not really caring where she was. “You’re warm,” she mumbled, yawning again, head slipping down.
Opening an eye, she glanced around once more. “Oh yeah, I remember now. I had a bad dream,” she stated innocently, reaching out and pulling a blanket up and around her chin, feeling heat radiating from every side. Why couldn’t life always be so warm and cocoon like? It all came rushing back then. Him promising that he would always come for her, and comforting her as well. Selphie didn’t doubt that he was the reason she had slept so soundly, with nothing but good dreams the rest of the night. He had always been a more heroic type. Squall, Irvine and Seifer should learn something from him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 729 Muse:; Good! It definitely was something different to wake up with a girl in his bed. Zell nearly had a heart attack at first, but he did a damn good job at keeping himself from making a sound or even jumping from where he was laying. It took a few minutes of course to register what had happened the night before, it was a bit fuzzy. He remembered going to bed, being extremely tired and falling asleep pretty quick, but the in between was just so dang fuzzy! He remembered being woken up slightly, but honestly, Zell had initially thought that was a dream. Selphie wouldn’t come to his bed should she have a nightmare, right? Judging by the fact that the brunette was laying beside him said otherwise. After realizing that it wasn’t a dream, that she’d been scared and came to him for comfort, he felt a little more at ease, instead of internally freaking out over the fact that Selphie was in his bed.
Ha, a little more at ease.
Having shaken Selphie awake a bit, he gazed down at her, completely awake instead of the groggy sleepy blond he wanted to be. He wasn’t necessarily tired- yes he was, but he wanted to make sure Selphie was okay, she was probably even more tired than he was, having been up for how long last night? He’d told her to get some sleep at some point in time, whether she listened to him or not was a mystery to the youth, after he’d stopped talking last night, he was out like a light once more. She responded in a tired tone, something Zell knew far too much about. He’d go back to sleep, if his brain would shut up of course, but too dang bad! It was racing by now. “You sure don’t sound awake.” He commented with a slight tone of amusement before he felt her scoot close to him, head of chest and being all…snuggly. Zell simply blinked, unsure of what to think or say from there, but she was obviously tired. Perhaps it’d be best to try and get a bit more shut eye?
Laying there silently though, he decided it was best to let Selphie sleep. Whatever made her happy, right? Closing his eyes, he just felt like he couldn’t get back to sleep, as much as he wanted to be snoring within seconds, it just wasn’t going to happen today. It was then Zell heard and felt Selphie shifting around, stretching and talking again. Definitely tired. It brought a look of amusement to Zell’s face as he opened his eyes and watched and listened to Selphie for a few minutes, she was silly, something else even, but he was glad to have her as a best friend, if nothing more in his mind. Chuckling a bit at her, he patted her arm. “You are awake, okay okay.” But she questioned how she got here, or why she was here. He was about to state the answer clearly – as clearly as a half tired man would remember when he was half awake during it all – but she remembered quicker than he had this morning only a few moments ago upon waking up. “Yeah Selph, you had a bad dream….at least that’s what I remember. Sorry if I wasn’t doing much…just…being a lug. Heh, yesterday was kind of killer, I guess I was tired.” He babbled for a moment.
“Are you doing better though? I mean, I know that nightmare freaked you out.” He stated calmly, in a concerning tone as he still kept his eyes open, watching Selphie snuggle into a cocoon of blankets and just…seem so comfortable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 720 Muse: Good! Selphie was awake!
Well…not really. She had been woken up by Zell, but she was really still wrapped up in the dream world in her mind. So, with a yawn, she did the most sensible thing, crawl toward the source of heat, and snuggle up to it. The source of heat, however, just so happened to be Zell Dincht. Selphie was too tired to realize she was snuggling him, and even if she wasn’t tired, Selphie would think nothing of it. That was just the way she was. Innocent was rare, but it was ever present in her, at least in the area of boys. Selphie wasn’t innocent about the evils of the world. No, she had seen plenty of it, seen death, seen war, all of those things, but she remained blissfully unaware of the regular ‘norms’ about closeness with the opposite sex. It was all just nonsense anyway, she’d never had time to really dwell on it. And so here she was, falling asleep while sitting on the lap of her best friend, spazzy martial artist Zell…who also just so happened to be a teenage boy her age. Well, it was funny how things went.
Still, Zell seemed to want to just keep talking, and so she lazily opened one eye, shifting her head to look up at him. Selphie had always been close to Zell, and so it just seemed natural to turn to someone you were close to for comfort, and warmth. He was like an oven or something. “I’m awake I’m sure,” she said, muttering and scrambling the order of her words while she was doing so. A loud yawn followed, forcing her to raise up her hand in order to stifle the yawn back down, or catch it, or whatever a hand in front of your mouth while you were yawning served the purpose for. But at least he seemed to see things her way after that, because he simply agreed that ‘okay okay, you’re awake’, and left it at that. Selphie nodded and her head flopped down under his chest, hair moving a little bit from his breath as he chuckled. Well…he could chuckle all he wanted to, Selphie did enjoy hearing his laughter.
Still, Selphie did become a little bit more awake once she got to thinking about why she might have made her way to Zell’s room. She discerned quickly that it had been because of a nightmare. A perfectly logical excuse – or so she thought to herself – to make their way to a friends house and take some of the comfort that they radiated. Men and their ability to be the hero amazed her. He just confirmed that option though, by saying that she had come after she’d had a nightmare. Now that she was thinking about it, Selphie could still remember what she had been dreaming about. Maqui…and Cookie had been there, and they had all been there! But…but…but…well, they had all left her. Selphie couldn’t help but want to cling to Zell again. She didn’t want them to all leave her! They would stay…they would stay with her, right?
What did she have to be worried about anyway? Zell had promised her plenty of times that he would always be there, or come for her if she needed assistance. What more did she need anyway? From her little cocoon, Selphie peeked up at him, before stretching slightly and rubbing her eyes to see better. “Oh, what? Yeah, I’m doing a lot better now! I must say, I was pretty worried about you guys just leaving me behind somewhere. I hate being alone, you know? It’s a terrible feeling. I’d rather be with you guys all the time. But, well, it’s fine, I mean, it was only a dream, right?! Right!” Selphie was proud of herself…that she had been able to combat her feelings and had just trudged ahead. Yup, she was very proud of herself. It was only then that she realized she was on his lap. “Sorry if I’m too fat and heavy and luggy, but you’re really comfy,” she ended up with a smile on her face. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 899 Muse:; Great! Zell just had to remember that he was being the bestest friend that anyone could’ve asked for. Being there for Selphie even in the middle of the night – though half awake – he was still being the hero he claimed to be. Especially when he’d told her that he’d always come for her, not only when she was on Pulse, he’d gone through that portal on a whim, and luckily he’d found her…but with nightmares too! Hopefully people didn’t start talking about this, how they’d know…he wasn’t sure. But people usually let their mouths run before getting the facts. Shaking his head a bit as Selphie was still snuggled next to him, he wasn’t sure what to say, aside from just…nothing. He remained fairly still, letting her be comfortable, but still curious as to how she was feeling now. Hopefully she wasn’t as afraid, he knew that he wasn’t going anywhere, and he was sure that Quistis, Squall and everyone else would be around for her as well, that’s what friends did.
“You’re feeling better? That’s great Selphie! Never believe those nightmares, not only will I be around forever and ever, but so will the rest of our little gang.” He said with an assuring pat on her shoulder, thinking about just how wonderful their group was. Squall may have been a bit of a stick in the mud, but…there wasn’t much you could do, it was amazing he tolerated people like Zell and Selphie thus far- his train of through was cut off by Selphie’s words of being too fat and him being comfortable. Zell actually snorted a laugh, pulling a free hand towards his face to muffle his laughter before he moved around a bit, taking one of his arms and digging it around and wrapping it around Selphie’s waist, moving her. If she was fat, then he was just the strongest man alive, wasn’t he? “Selphie, you’re probably the smallest person I know.” He said with another shake of his head before sitting up, having moved her easily to prove a point.
Sitting up and feeling more awake, Zell looked around as he rubbed just below his eyes, trying to clear his vision some in the bright room that was his dorm. He wondered what was going on today…classes maybe? No wait, it was the weekend! No classes until Monday! That was nice, but what was there to do for the day? Certainly it’d be too early to check the cafeteria for hotdogs…but getting breakfast wouldn’t be a problem, maybe…Selphie would wanna go too? After she got changed and all freshened up, just as Zell needed to do as well. Turning and giving the brunette a pretty cheerful morning look, he had a grin on his face. “Say, Selphie, you wanna go grab some breakfast? I mean…if you’re tired you can go back to sleep but…that’d mean I’d have to go by myself…and you wouldn’t want that to happen, right?” he said raising an eyebrow, hoping his ‘subtle’ persuasion would win for him. If his obvious charm and being one of her best friends didn’t get her out of bed, then nothing probably would…except maybe a train.
Hmm, that was an idea.
“And if you go with me, maybe afterwards…we can go find some…trains.” He said almost mischievously. THAT had to get her out of bed, it had to. And Zell would keep good on his word…he’d march all over to find some rail road tracks and some trains…just for Selphie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 715 Muse: Good once he started cooperating! Selphie hadn’t really ever realized how much she needed those ‘we’ll be here forever’ words that he was giving to her right now. She lived life under the façade of always being happy, cheerful and full of life. And she was normally happy, cheerful and full of life, but every once in a while…she was overcome with fear. Like the moment in her life when she had learned that her ‘home’ had been destroyed, and along with it, a huge amount of her friends, had been killed in the missile launch they hadn’t been able to save. In that moment, her entire world had been thrown upside down and she had been completely crushed. She’d tried not to show it, to just go on and pretend everything was okay, but it had been hard. The only thing that had really gotten her through that had been her friends, who had even put on a play for her. Perhaps it had been because of that experience with her friends dying that she did have insecurities floating around the back of her head. Just hoping that her friends now would never be taken away from her. She might not be able to stand that.
So just hearing the reassurance that they wouldn’t leave her was enough to cause her to calm down and not worry so much. Amazing how much she had needed that reassurance. Grinning up at him when he patted her, Selphie bobbed her head up and down. “I know you guys won’t leave me! I just…forget every once in a while,” she mentioned sheepishly, poking his chest a few times. Just then he decided to prove that he was strong, and she wrapped her arms around his arm as he did so, giggling about it. She was the smallest person he knew? Oh…well that helped. “Hey now! I’ve been bench pressing more then you weight lately,” she said cheerfully, before she felt bad for lying. “Okay, okay, that’s not true.”
Breakfast? Selphie wasn’t superdy duper hungry, but if food was laid out in front of her, she probably wouldn’t reject it. After all, food was food! And…people needed food to survive. At least that was what her health and nutrition teacher had taught her so many years ago. So that meant it had to be true! Right?! Right! “Weeeeeellllllll…” She drug that out a bit, making her fingers into a fist and pressing it underneath her chin, before cocking her head and looking up at her friend. He was being awful nice letting her be all comfy on his lap, and she didn’t exactly want to move because he was so comfy, but then again, she was going to have to move sometime. Why not now? Except he was warm and snuggly an-…
Trains?!
She instantly whipped back and away from the chest she had been up against, grinning over at him. “Trains?! You mean it?! We can go look at trains after we eat?” She had gotten so excited over that possibility that she was now tugging at his arm and grinning from ear to ear, her entire face lit up with happiness. A moment later she rolled out of his arms and sat Indian style next to him. “What are we waiting for then?! Get dressed!”, she called before noticing that she too was in her pajamas. “Oh! I guess I’ve gotta get some other clothes on too, hm? I’ll go get dressed and meet you at the cafeteria!”, she called as she leapt up and ran out the door, eager to go see those trains!

Ha…this just went to show how great of a pal Zell really was. Not just anyone would like to be woken up in the middle of the night and let someone crawl into bed with them. He was just that awesome of a friend, and no, he wasn’t afraid to say that. He liked Selphie, they were like best friends, and if she was scared, he needed to man up and be the best friend he was, no matter what it meant. If word of this got out to the other students within Garden…you can bet the rumors would start, and Zell shrugged at them, he didn’t think anyone would be so shallow as to even start a rumor, but people did surprising things these days. Oh well, let them talk! Zell wouldn’t let it get to him, and Selphie shouldn’t either, they were simply friends…and she had a nightmare, what wasn’t there to believe? Besides, this WAS Selphie and Zell we’re talking about…
…that itself was enough reason to dismiss any and all rumors.
Giving her a smirky sort of look that said ‘Yeah right’, he shook his head and let himself rest against his pillow again. “You? Bench pressing…the image just can’t come to me, ever.” Zell shrugged slightly, turning his gaze towards the brunette once more, he was glad she seemed very happy now, unlike the night before, even though he was like…only two percent awake at the time and did whatever it was his brain was telling him to do at the time. Apparently during his being half awake time, he’d done something right at least! Instead of stupid, like shouting about his dreams about hotdog heaven and girls in yellow dresses serving those hotdogs on a silver platter- yeaaaaaah, we don’t need to relive those moments, otherwise Zell would start blushing and that was just going to be a crisis to be avoided. So let’s avoid the talk of food and hotdogs and talk about…food.
Zell had to do what he could to get Selphie’s attention. If he mentioned something she liked then it would be a good day, she’d be ready to go. For him to get food, which was a must as always, then he had to mention trains. He wouldn’t mind going to the station and seeing some, if it meant he got food as well. Watching Selphie go from thoughtful to completely excited, Zell chuckled slightly as she shot up, sat down and ushered him to get changed. Sitting up and running a hand through his bed head hair that was in every direction by now, he looked towards Selphie, shaking his head slightly. “Alright! I’ll see you soon! Just remember the faster we get down there and eat, the sooner we can see those trains!” and…she was gone like a firecracker. That left Zell alone in his dorm, and now he could change! Leaping to his feet he lazily changed into some normal clothes for the day and went to fix the haystack of hair on his head and get the rest of himself washed up. With himself all cleaned up and ready to get going, his eyes went back towards his bed, thinking back and trying to really remember what happened the night previously. It was a good deed that he’d done, and he couldn’t help but be proud of himself. Typical Zell, always wanting to be the hero and save the day.
Rubbing a hand against the back of his neck, Zell then started out of his dorm and trailed towards the cafeteria. He hadn’t taken long, a few minutes at the most. He was determined to get food, and good food at that from the cafeteria. He always seemed to get the short end of the stick when it came to food in the cafeteria. Not today! As he entered the cafeteria though, his eyes were looking around, waiting for an excited train-loving brunette to attack him and rush him to eat for those dang silly trains! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 769 Muse: Great! Selphie grinned over her shoulder as she fled out of his room. Whipping the door open, she turned back and placed a hand on her hip, cocking her head, "You'd better eat suuuuper duuuuper fast then Zelly! We don't wanna have to miss one second than we have to!", she called before she shut the door behind her and started skipping down the hallway. A few students were walking down the hallway, nearly getting themselves run over when she flew out of Zell's dorm, in her pajamas looking like it was the most natural thing in the world to be doing. "Good morning!", she said cheerfully as she dodged them to continue on her way, humming a happy melody to herself. Instantly they stopped and stared after her, before glancing at the dorm room she had come out from. "Did she just come from-" "Yep." "...Well that's interesting." "Are you kidding me? It's Selphie and Zell, they probably don't even know what to do." The one laughed before they nodded and continued on. "You're right, of course. Probably nothing."
Selphie, completely oblivious to what had just happened, was skipping her way to her own dorm, greeting confused students who wondered why she was wandering around the school in her pajamas, but decided it was 'just Selphie being Selphie', and went on with their day as if it were nothing, lucky for her. When she did finally make it to her dorm, Selphie trotted inside and made her way over to her wardrobe. Sliding into some normal clothes, she added a little makeup and brushed her hair before smiling happy back at the mirror. With a burst of giggles, she stuck out her tongue and laughed at her own reflection.
Skipping back out of her dorm, she closed the door and started her way back to the cafeteria. Oh what a wonderful day! She was going to hang out with her best friend and get to see some trains. TRAINS! HECK YES! She loved trains, so much! And here Zell had actually offered to take her to see some. Best not date ever! See, this was why not liking Irvine was great, he never would have taken her to see any trains. Smiling out to everyone, because everyone knew Selphie Tilmitt, she found herself saying greetings to just about everyone until she got to the cafeteria.
Finally she was here! Peering around the cafeteria, she finally found the spiky blonde she was looking for, and with his back turned toward her too! With a grin, she tip toed over to him until she was right behind him, before jumping and landing on his back, arms wrapped around his neck. “SURPRIIIIIISE!”, she shouted, before giggling and trying to cling to him and ruffle his hair. Unfortunately, she lost her grip and slid back down until she was standing back on the ground. Oh well…that was boring! Tugging on his arm, she grinned up at him. “You ready to eat and go see some trains?!”
