Luca was a bustling place. It was always filled with brightly clad people but no more so than Blitzball season. The Luca Goers participated in a number of heats around Spira and had the unique opportunity to train in the wide sphere of water. Fourteen docks all lined up next to each other stuck out from the mainland like spokes on a wheel. The stadium was empty, chairs gasping for bodies and the grounds silent. There was no friendly game, no match, nothing. The Blitzball Arena lay oddly silent and viciously empty.
People still came here though. There were shops and families, entertainment and occasionally a concert. Singing wasn't the most prized of activities on Spira (that was Blitzball) but it did strike to the heart of everyone. The temples vibrated with their own version of the hymn from deep vibrato to high soprano, all the temples around Spira had filled with the Hymn of the Fayth. There were no Fayth now. All those souls trapped in statutes, called forth by would-be, or fully fledged summoners held no purpose for the citizens of Spira. There were no more summoners, no more Aeons and no more Pilgrimmages. Against all odds they had done what no one else had thought possible. Lady Yunalesca, a cohort in the grand scheme to keep Yu Yevon in power, too duped by his manipulations, had truly been filled with despair when Yuna had refused to chose a Final Summoning. Lulu had offered her life. She would not have seen Yuna punished, or fail after having come so far. Not one of them had imagined there was such a cruel and unjust punishment for saving the world, for a decade.
Sacrifice. Like the heathen gods of old it appeared only the Summoners knew the truth of the Pilgrimage. But to turn back when all of Spira rested hope on one's soldiers was not just a failure but a betrayal as well. The glorified race to the finish line, where one dead Summoner got all the glory while the rest waited for the next Calm to end. Whether they would take up the journey again remained to be seen. Some Summoners would see three or four Calms before deciding they were too old to attempt to save the world from the hopeless despair Sin cast upon them. Hope was what kept them all going despite the fact they had been so cruelly downtrodden by their religious leader. Hope kept them exactly where they were. Spirans were never intended to defeat Sin. Their suffering was eternal because Yevon was eternal. As it turns out, not even eternity lasts forever.
Lulu was in Luca because Wakka was teaching a small group of children a few technicalities about Blitzball. Well, more or less it was an excuse to get them all excited about the sport. Besaid islanders were going to need new team members for the Besaid Aurochs one day and Wakka didn't want the team to wither. Lulu pushed her son in the small contraption Wakka had made for this very purpose. She was glad for it. She did not have to carry the increasing weight of her baby boy in her arms. As much as she loved holding him, there came a time when Vidina became more like a bundle of bricks than a warm, small human. Babies were heavier than one initially thought. She smiled down at her son as he gurgled happily, small hands waved in front of his face, fascinated by his own miniature digits. Vidina gurgled loudly again. he was already trying to talk. When he was a bit older he was going to be chomping everyone's ears off. Lulu smiled to herself as she strolled through the streets of Luca.

You’d think a girl would learn her lesson after getting pulled away from her home world and ending up somewhere completely foreign, but this was really not turning out to be Deuce’s year at all. The first time, she’d just wanted to make sure no one went near that portal just in case it turned out to be dangerous, that she got sucked into that one was really not her fault, but it should’ve taught her to stay far, far away from those things. This time though, I really was all her own fault. She could’ve sworn that she saw Rem heading towards that area… and when she spotted the portal, she truly believed her poor sweet roommate had become a portal victim as well. Rather than leaving her friend to find a way home all by herself, Deuce had jumped into the portal as well to go “save her”, but it seemed that Rem hadn’t even been in the area at all. She’d received a text a little while after appearing here, in Spira, from none other than Rem. Deuce had such luck these days. At least this world was a bit nicer than the last one she’d ended up on. That first portal had taken her to a strange wilderness that thankfully had a small village tucked away between the jungles. The world the small brunette was on now reminded her a lot more of her own home, although this one seemed to be living in happier times than Oriens. She was happy for these people, but she also envied them. She wished she could live in a peaceful world like this as well.
Thankfully her experiences on Pulse had made her seem less out of place here. She’d received some odd looks from the person she’d approached asking which world this was, but other than that, she was adapting pretty well. She was getting good at this world hopping thing! With a smile – a genuine one this time around – she strolled along the streets of Luca, nodding a greeting here and there at some of the people she passed by. When she looked straight ahead again after that last greeting, she spotted the absolute cutest thing ever! A mother and her baby on a grand adventure! And what a cute baby that was! Deuce loved kids, they were just so precious. As she came closer to the pair, the baby gave her a great big smile, and the brunette’s heart just melted from the cute. Unable to stop herself, she bent her knee a little and waved down at the baby, “Awww, aren’t you just adorable?” she squealed at the little bundle of joy, who replied with a gurgling noise. He was trying to talk! Cuteness overload! But rather than talking to the baby some more, Deuce rose her head to look up at the baby’s mother and offered her an innocent smile as she respectfully took a step back. It wasn’t like she’d gotten all up in his face or anything, but she had effectively stopped the woman in her tracks, and that was just plain rude. Maybe she had places to go, and Deuce was really slowing her down. “Ah… my apologies ma’am. I just have a really soft spot for babies, and yours is absolutely adorable… I couldn’t help myself.” ---------------------------------- Words: 556 Tagged: Lulu! Lulu didn't like Blitzball, not in terms of enjoying the game. It was a difficult sport, the only one Spira really had to keep them going through the long dark months Sin made them cower and beg. And in the moments between it was a fun relief from everyday life - from working, from nailing planks of wood to the pier, from shuffling cargo from one location to another or digging for scraps in the Bikanel Desert. One game could unite the whole of Spira whilst dividing it also. As teams were knocked out some fans went to the next favourite team, the one most likely to win or gave up on the game altogether - until next time. Sitting for hours on end on those horrid benches was not an appealing day out for Lulu. She had watched because others had wanted to. Blitzball had become a beacon of hope for Spirans and it remained so. The reign of Sin had not ended so long ago that people had forgotten the feeling the water based game had brought them. If Wakka wanted to return to the game, Lulu would be happy for him to do so.
There were very rarely deaths in Blitzball. The velocity the ball travelled at was enough to wind a man, give him concussion or even cause death. It was game, a challenge, played for fun, for hope and for glory. At the end of the day Lulu didn't really have to worry about whether or not Wakka would come home. Her chest did not ache every day like it had with Yuna, knowing as she gained more aeons she was closer to becoming a dead little sister - another she had failed to save but had protected as well as she could. As a Guardian she would have succeeded but as a sister she would have not. Lulu had not convinced Yuna to allow her father's legacy to be passed onto another Summoner. But the girl had been adamant. There was no changing her mind once it had been made.
Lulu placed a toy next to Vidina as he wiggled his hands. He was just discovering he had them. Any time his hands wafted passed his vision he'd do it again and again, his large wide eyes staring at them in wonder as he slowly realised in the back of his mind that yes, he was indeed doing that. Always one for talking he made a gurgling noise when the young girl came up to him. Vidina waved his hands at the girl who was paying attention to him, happy to see a face talking to him. He was going to be such a handful.
Lulu smiled. "He was a bit of a surprise," She replied. "He takes after his father: always talking," Lulu said. "Luca is busier than normal. There isn't a game on that I've missed, is there?" Lulu asked, curious. Would Wakka be late?

Truthfully, even if Deuce would’ve preferred to be back in Oriens with her friends, she could think of worse places to be than Spira. The place had a nice climate, beautiful cities (or this one was beautiful anyway) and seemingly nice people. There didn’t seem to be any monsters around looking to feast on petite brunettes with red capes, so that was a definite plus as well! Nope, it wasn’t so bad to be stuck on this particular world for the time being. She’d still try and find another portal to teleport her back home again, but she wasn’t in as big a rush as she’d been back on Pulse, not that Pulse was a terrible place to be or anything, but it was a lot more dangerous there than it seemed to be here. Of course, she hadn’t been here for too long yet, so she probably shouldn’t let her guard down just yet. But… that was exactly what she did when she spotted the mother and child pair walking along the streets, and when the baby made cute noises at her, Deuce was completely letting her guard down as she spoke to the baby in a cute tone, which only seemed to make the baby happier. In turn, Deuce felt happier as well. Kids were so incredibly cute! She wanted one too! Perhaps not now, but in the future, she definitely wanted to have kids of her own.
“Hah, so in a few years, you’ll have two men chatting your ear off,” she giggled, feeling relieved that the woman was being friendly to her. She could’ve just as easily told the brunette to bugger off, but she hadn’t, and for that, Deuce was thankful. “Oh, you mean that ball game that everyone’s talking about?” she’d seen a few people here and there tossing a blue-white ball around and referring to it as ‘Blitzball’ or something similar sounding. It seemed like a fun sport, maybe she could go watch the game later today and tell her friends back home about it so they could play it as well someday. “I don’t think so… nobody seemed to be in a rush to get to the big stadium…” she explained with a shrug of her shoulders, “But if you want to see the game, ma’am, you should get to the stadium as soon as possible. Otherwise you might get caught up in the crowd,” her voice held a hint of worry as she looked from the baby to the woman and back and forth a few times again. People always went to these things at the last minute, and there was sure to be a massive crowd outside the stadium when the game was about to start. Deuce didn’t know this woman at all, but she seemed nice, and Deuce didn’t want her to be stuck in such an annoying situation, especially since she had a child with her. ---------------------------------- Words: 488 Tagged: Lulu Location: Luca Outfit: Class Zero Uniform Notes:

Lulu wasn't like her friends. She had moved on and settled down. She had a family now, with Wakka and her tiny child Vidian and she was very happy. She no longer viewed the ocean as a cruel mistress who had parted her from her once beloved Chappu. She no longer stood at the pier on dark days, stock still on the dock looking out in to the vastless stretch of empty blue. The part of her heart which had been crushed by his death had healed. Wakka had helped heal it. Yuna, and Tidus and the others too, and soothed a pain she had never thought would cease. Her dearest was gone, not forgotten, but a memory he would remain. For the first time since his death, Lulu allowed the pain to fade and found happiness underneath.
The long struggle to defeat Sin had taught her many things: one was not to deny what was in her heart already, or what was in front of her face. As a result her relationship with Wakka progressed further and they eventually married and had a child: well, it didn't take all too long. Lulu was glad not to stretch their previous status longer. They could not have continued as they were. She seldom saw the others now. Yuna, Rikku and a woman called Paine were off hunting spheres all over Spira in the attempt to drown their pain: Yuna's pain. The price of defeating Sin and stopping Yevon's perpetual cycle had been a great one. Lulu had been sad to see Tidus go. Anyone who could bring Yuna hope was a special person indeed. None of them had been able to do that.
With the exception of Kimahri, who had moved back to Mount Gagazet, Lulu was the only one who remained in the one place for a long time. Since defeating Sin she hadn't left Besaid, until now, that is. She was glad for the anonymity. The black haired woman had no idea how Yuna had dealt with being so famous. Everywhere she went there was bowing and favours and begging and questions and well wishing and dim sparks of hope fading in the twilight like a candle burning the end of its wick. Yuna had stood there and smiled through it all. She was braver than any of them.
"Oh no," Lulu groaned as the girl said she was going to have two males chatting at her. They were her boys though and that was all that mattered, but still. Lulu was not used to such chattering all the time and she could tell Vidian was going to require a lot of listening if not actual talking in return. She could almost see him running around their tent, naked and refusing to get dressed for bed. That would have to be Wakka's problem. She chuckled to herself. He as the one who got her pregnant, at night, Vidian could be his child.
'That ball game?' What an odd expression from someone from Spira. But then, she didn't have to be. Tidus knew about Blitzball bit little else, and there were rumours of portals springing up here and there. None had appeared in Besaid as far as she knew and news travelled slow but here in Luca, there were no secrets kept for long. With the buzz of excitement in the air, there was always loud talk about something. Whispering never worked: the walls had ears. With little privacy in the Blitzball capital word got out sooner or later and spread slowly all over the globe. Now that machina was creeping back into their lives (Yuna had certainly embraced it where others shied from it) it didn't take so long for news to travel the world. "You're not from around here," Lulu commented blandly.
"Oh no," Lulu said. "I've watched enough blitzball to last me for a while. And when this little one grows up I'll have to be interested," Lulu replied. Wakka was going to love it.
NOTES: I am so sorry for the wait on this >.<. Things got away from me there.
