A mass of blonde hair showed as a young woman poked her head through the door that led to Gippal’s office. No Gippal. Of course. She had highly doubted that the young man would have been there, but it had been worth a shot. Letting the door open completely, Rikku put her hands on her hips and blew out a breath. Why could Gippal never be easy to find? Of course, he was the leader of this faction, and so he was busy just trying to keep everything running smoothly, but how hard was it to actually be in his office for once, instead of chasing something down he needed to do? With a groan, Rikku plopped down in his comfy chair and placed her feet up on the desktop. Peeling off her boot, Rikku wiggled her toes and then finally replaced the boot, looking around at his office. It was so odd how he could be so organized in the garage, knowing where every tool was, and yet his office was never organized. A small smile appeared on her features. That was the quirky Gippal she knew.
Shuffling around the papers on the desk, she finally found his comsphere device. “Success,” she spoke out, grinning to herself. Tapping it, she got it working and then cleared her throat. “Gippal, please report to your office. Ya know, the place you’re supposed to be in?” Setting down the comsphere and switching it off, Rikku propped her feet back up on the desk, closing her eyes to take somewhat of a nap while she waited for the blonde to get his butt away from some mechanic something or another and here in the office. Her pops had sent her here to get the machine that he had ordered from Gippal. Not that Rikku minded coming, though she wouldn’t admit that. Cid had always liked Gippal. Most people did, especially since they dated when they were younger. Really, Cid treated Gippal better then he did his own son. Not that Rikku blamed him there. Where in Spira’s name had Brother even come from? He was a freak of nature. The point was that Gippal had been around all her life, and around the house, being with her and Brother growing up as well. But…
Didn’t the expression go once bit twice shy? Rikku wasn’t sure, but she didn’t really know what her relationship with Gippal was. He had, after all, left Home all those years ago to make a life for himself, leaving her and Home behind. That still kind of stung, even if she wouldn’t admit that either. Admitting that would be-…well, it wouldn’t be good to admit that to someone like Gippal. Or that she missed the relationship they’d had before. Like when they had been kids growing up, and in their early teen years. You didn’t often forget your first crush, that was for sure.
What was she even thinking about?! Rolling her eyes, Rikku twirled the scarf in her finger tips, waiting for Gippal to show up. Thinking of the past wasn’t going to get her anywhere. So she turned her mind back to her father. He had traveled to the farplane today, and she knew why. Cid missed his late wife, who had died in an accident with faulty machine. Despite his bluster and strong front, Rikku knew how much her father missed her mother, and still slightly blamed himself for her death.
It was then that she felt her pocket vibrate. Furrowing her brow, Rikku pulled out her phone, glancing at who it was that was calling. “Pops?” What was he doing calling her? Flipping it open, she held it to her ear. “Heya Pops! What’s up? See mom?” The static that blasted into her ear caused the young woman to cringe and hold the phone well away from her ear. “Rikku! Where are you? Are you at Gippal’s faction?” The worry that she heard in his voice caused her to sit up straight in the chair, legs dropping from the desk. “Yeah, I just got here, why?” “Farplane…rip-…-ed ope-…-n.” Shaking her head, Rikku tried to concentrate despite the static. “Pops! You’re cutting out, what was it you said?” “I said, the farplane, it’s being ripped apa-…” Groaning in frustration, Rikku stood up, the static clearing slightly when she did so. “-rt. Find Gippal and bring him here, something’s happ-…” Then there was silence. “Pops? Pops! POPS?!” A worried look crossed the young womans face. It was then that she turned and flew off the chair, running across the room. “GIPPAL!”, she bellowed, going to reach for the door handle so she could run out and find him. What was happening? They needed to get to the farplane, and fast!

“Alright, I think we’re almost operational here! We can get this piece sent out shortly, just make sure all the gears run smoothly before packing it up. Nice job boys!” Gippal stated proudly as he patted his hand against the machine at his side before walking away, hearing the happy conversation from the workers here at his faction, making machina for anyone who ordered, after all, Gippal aimed to please. He helped anyone, Al Bhed or not. With a bounce in his step, he continued to let his gaze search the room, seeing other hard working men and women, putting pieces together and seeming very happy about it. This was everything he wanted any more, able to work with the many different races of Spira and be happy about it. It was almost a dream come true…why else would he have left Home and everyone he loved for this kind of life? It was a success, then again…everything about Gippal seemed to be a success as it was.
Stepping out of the main room where all the contraptions were being built, Gippal stopped as he heard a familiar voice calling out to him. Someone…was in his office…over his comsphere. Judging by the voice, he had a pretty good idea as to which blond haired green eyed Al Bhed it had to be. With a small sigh, he nodded to himself, remembering that Rikku’s father, Cid, had ordered something from him here a short while back. Gippal of course promised it to be a first priority for him and his men, but the machine wasn’t ready yet, no one could expect something that high tech and beautiful to be done just yet. Maybe Rikku was just checking up on it for Cid? Or had she missed Gippal that much that she had to come here and stalk his office? With a silly scoff to himself, he waved his hand around, as if to wave the thoughts away from his head as he started a stride again, though not too quick of one, for he was going to his office, just because he’d been summoned by a beautiful woman…and because he really had enjoyed Rikku’s company since they met, dated, and now…something. Gippal wasn’t sure anymore.
The faction leader let his thoughts get away from him, drifting back to a time where he spent most of his time at Home with his other Al Bhed family, being around Rikku and Cid and even that darned brother of hers…Brother, welp, an odd name for an odd guy, right? That was always Gippal’s logic on it. With a slight shrug, his pace had slowed and his mind far away from the faction but not too far away from Rikku. She was still on his mind from time to time, of course…she’d probably be on any man’s mind with the way she dressed these days, oh well, that was her choice, and he certainly wasn’t going to say anything about it at all. After all, Gippal liked the way Rikku looked, she was pretty and wasn’t afraid to show that she could do almost anything and still be beautiful, even wear a paper sack…but he doubted she’d ever try that one…or…well she might, this was Rikku we are talking about, hyper, risky and definitely outside of the box.
Nearing his office, he was just down the hallway, blinking his one good eye to pull himself from the daze of his thoughts before his eyes settled on the door, not really realizing he was here already. I guess getting distracted could do that to a person. With another shrug, he picked up his pace before hearing the most fearful scream he’d heard in a long time, as if someone had just attacked Rikku or something. From a slow stride to a dead run, Gippal ran for the door, genuinely concerned and filled with worry for his former girlfriend and when he reached for the door to pull it open, his head connected with the door, being knocked back and down onto his butt a hand up to his head as he rubbed the side of his forehead where the door had connected to his skull. That was going to hurt, cause a headache and eventually leave a bruise. “Uilr.” was all he had to say, and in the native Al Bhed language as he rubbed his head still before moving himself up to his feet again quickly, feeling a bit dizzy from as fast as he was moving before he swung the rest of the door opening, catching the sight of a worried and frantic looking Rikku. He immediately was looking behind her around the room for some sort of attacker, or something. “What’s up? Is something wrong? Or are you just screaming because you really wanted to see me?” he asked almost in a strained voice, dropping his hand from his head and giving her a grin through the now pounding headache he was getting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 950 Muse: Great! Okay so perhaps Rikku had some problems with her family at times, and perhaps, especially for her brother, she thought them slightly stupid, but when it came right down to it, they were her family. Rikku didn’t know what was going on with her pops, but what she did know was that he had been worried enough about something to call her and want her to get Gippal and make it to the Farplane quickly. Usually he was a sort of do it himself sort of guy, no matter what the issue. So just the fact that he had called at all told her that there was something going on. Something big. Why…why her dad?! In a near panic, Rikku leapt from the seat she had been sitting in, running flat out toward the door. She needed to find Gippal right away! He would know what to do! He had to know what to do! In the moments she had ever needed him the most growing up. Like the times there had been a Lightning storm, or the times he’d let her wet his shoulder with tears after her mom had died, or whenever she had done something stupid and he would always come to rescue her, –Especially if it was something she didn’t want her pops to know about.- Gippal would know what they should do and be there for her.
What funny thoughts, since a moment before she had sworn that over her dead, rotting body did she like him. He was pompous, he could be an ass, he thought too much of himself, but she always turned to him. Not breaking stride, Rikku went to open the door, flinging it forward as she went to plow through it. Unfortunately, the door hit something –or someone- and flew back to smack her directly in the body. With a little yelp, the thief dodged getting her face slammed into, instead taking the brunt of the hit with her shoulder and landing on her butt on the other side of the door. With a grunt, and hearing the ‘ouch’ in her own native tongue, Rikku nudged open the door and crawled though, her vision seeing Gippal getting to his feet dizzily. She felt the same way.
“My body…” she groaned out, momentarily forgetting about the call she had just gotten. Shaking her head at his ridiculous second question, she couldn’t help but sharply reply. “Of course I wasn’t that excited abou-Gippal!!,” she cried when she remembered. Crawling toward him, Rikku wrapped her arms around his leg, giving him a pitiful look with huge green eyes. “We need to go to the farplane! We’ve gotta…We’ve gotta…We’ve just gotta!”, she begged. “Pops just called, and something isn’t right! He kept breaking up, and then he died, but he was trying to tell me something about the farplane, and told me to get you to come as well. Come on, we’ve gotta go, I think he’s in trouble,” she said last, tugging on his shirt and body to stand up. As soon as she got there she instantly put a hand to her shoulder, groaning a bit. Still her imploring green eyes swung toward him. There was genuine worry in the depths. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 718 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Gip! So yes, Gippal had been genuinely concerned and slightly worried when he heard Rikku’s cries of his name, obviously something was wrong, and just judging by where she was, he’d thought there was some sort of attacker trying to get her, ha, not on his watch! He didn’t get this snazzy looking eye patch just for style, and hopefully that was well known, although he could imagine that people thought he wore it simply for fashion, nope, that certainly wasn’t the case, but this was no time to gawk about his own history and battles that occurred and perhaps maybe injured his face in the process. Moving quickly down the hallway at a dead sprint towards his office, he hadn’t expected to run slam into a door and give his head a nasty headache, but all of this had happened, it’d knocked him down and onto his butt before he got up again, feeling almost dazed and dizzy before his gaze settled on a mess of a blond, she looked okay, just…scared or worried, or a combination of the two.
With his question, he started to hear a response that would make him chuckle, but she cut herself off, getting back on track. With her now clinging to his leg, he raised an eyebrow, now this was just…a little out of the ordinary, but he wasn’t going to lie, this wasn’t the first time he had someone clinging to his foot for some odd reason, but at least he wasn’t going to drag her around with him like this, that’d be painful for Rikku, and of course, imagine the odd looks Gippal would get for dragging her like that? It was not a good image. With that worried look on her face, Gippal took everything she said completely seriously though, talking about her father having been in the farplane and calling. A breaking connection? That did get a bit more of a worried look from the faction owner. He had liked Rikku’s dad, Cid, and if he was in trouble, well hell yeah Gippal would lend a hand! “Slow down, take a breath Rikku. Did Cid say anything else?” he questioned, but he figured that they just needed to go right now rather than spend time standing here and having a question an answer. So as she got up to her feet – by tugging on him – he started past her to get into his office.
Once inside his quarters – sort of – he went straight for the corner of the room where his machina gun was resting. Lifting it up and pretty much tucking it under his arm, he then started back for Rikku. “Let’s go get the Ragnarok, yeah?” he said moving past her again to lead the way, he always kept good care of the airship he piloted around from time to time, with it, they could get to where they needed to go fairly quickly, get to the farplane and save Cid all in a timely manner. Hopefully when they got there…there wouldn’t be something awful waiting for them as well. Still, Gippal was wondering what the hell was happening to the farplane, enough to cause a man like Cid to become worried, worried enough to send his daughter and Gippal to the farplane. Curiosity killed the cat and with as curious as Gippal was, he might as well be dead already. Oh well, Rikku could provide as much as she knew on the way, there was just no time to waste, Gippal didn’t want to have to visit the farplane to see Cid anytime soon, he’d rather have that old man alive and kickin’ for a long time, Rikku felt the same way of course, he was sure of that one.
Trailing through the building, Gippal took a doorway that lead to what looked like a large garage, there rested his Ragnarok. With a grin on his face, he shut the door behind him and Rikku, no one else was allowed in this room unless asked. He walked over towards a button on the wall and pressed it with his foot, opening a large door from the building so the airship could fly out whenever they were ready. “Don’t worry, we’ll be there in no time.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 806 Muse: Great! Worry moved the young blonde to talk a mile – if not even more then that – a minute, trying to explain to Gippal just why they had to be on their way to the farplane, but so worried it was just all just spilling out of her mouth in a jumbled fashion. Despite feigning an indifferent attitude toward her family, Rikku loved them-…well, Pops anyway, and was afraid that something terrible had happened. It probably had. Things like that didn’t just happen! So…so…so they had to get there right away. Clinging to his foot, Rikku buried her face into his pant leg, blonde hair falling every which way. She just wanted him to tell her that everything was going to be alright, like he had plenty of times in the past. Really, he had always been a steady person to rely on-…well, until he had left Home. To this day, Rikku usually held back her feelings toward him for that very reason. If he had left once, what was to say that he wouldn’t do it again? But when she needed comfort and let her guard down…who was the one she turned to?
Through her scrambled thoughts came his calming voice. Taking a deep, shuddery breath, Rikku relaxed slightly, still clinging to his leg, and then peeked up at him, green eyes imploring. Had pops said anything else? Taking a breath like he had advised, Rikku tried to think. Had pops said anything else? “Yeah, he…he said something about the farplane being ripped apart. I don’t know what he meant, but right after that the line went dead,” she rushed to explain. She knew that he wanted to figure out what had happened, but couldn’t they do that in his airship on the way to rescue her dad? “It sounded like he was trying to tell me more about it, but…all he managed to say was that something was happening.” Tugging on his clothes, Rikku pulled herself to her feet, swaying there and clinging to his shirt, before getting her balance and stepping away from him. “But Gippy! We’ve gotta go now!”, she worriedly exclaimed, tugging on his shirt in the way that they had to go.
Instead he went the opposite direction. Rikku was left to simply follow him, watching as he hefted his big gun up and into his arms. Get to the airship? Heck yes! Nodding furiously, Rikku half ran to catch up to him, half running in order to keep up with the taller man. Straining her legs, Rikku glanced around them, before placing her worried green eyes back onto Gippal. It was amazing who you turned to when you were in need. “Yeah, let’s go!” She couldn’t help but fidget, even as they walked, pulling at her shorts and playing with her scarf to keep her hands occupied.
Watching him play with buttons, she shifted her weight around, moving to try and keep her mind occupied and off of worrying about her old man. When the door opened, Rikku rushed past the older Al Bhed. Don’t worry? DON’T WORRY!? Too late! Thinking that, but not mentioning her worries out loud, Rikku rubbed her face with her hands and darted into the airship she had helped to build. It hadn’t been all that long since the last time she had been in here, but now it seemed urgent. Urgent to go and try to get her pops back! So she nodded and started firing up the engine. She would leave the flying to Gippal, but having helped build it, Rikku was as familiar with the controls as he was. Snapping open a few boxes, she powered energy into the ship, waiting for him to get on his part. “You think he’ll be alright? I mean, not that I’m worried, but you know how pops is. He tries to bite off more then he can chew, and then what? He should just stay put and wait for us, but of course, that’d be much too hard,” she rambled, continuing on in a mutter as she kept helping him to fire it up.

Okay, so they needed to get to the farplane, and in a hurry as well. Gippal wanted to calm down Rikku, but he also wanted to go help her father in a timely matter, that meant there was no time to waste. Rikku was clinging to him, taking a breath just as he had advised and speaking only a little bit slower to explain things. At least he was starting to understand things a little better, but still, no time to waste. That’s when he moved to grab his weapon and then start taking long strides towards where he had the Ragnarok stored. It was ready to go, all it needed to do was be fired up and have the garage door opened. Which Gippal took care of the latter, quickly moving to the airship and placing his weapon down against one of the empty seats on the inside, moving towards the captain’s chair and spinning in the seat to face the control panel. Rikku had already gotten a head start on setting things up, all he needed to do was really initiate power and they could be off.
Hitting the main power button on the control panel, Gippal heard the airship start up, the door opening closing and sealing itself tightly as a rush of air seemed to lift into the garage, that meant this baby was ready to go! “Be sure to strap yourself in, It’s going to be quite the ride.” He said with a slight smirk, not even bothering to look over his shoulder, knowing Rikku would just…either be cooperative or uncooperative, oh well. Getting to the farplane in a hurry was the main concern right now, so Gippal wasn’t really taking safety into consideration, he just wanted to help out Rikku’s pops and get all of this over with before anything super bad happened. When the other blond spoke up, Gippal turned slightly, looking over at the panicking Al Bhed, though she did well to try and keep herself calm, he had to give her that, but even still, he had to find something to comfort her slightly, otherwise she would be one big mess until she had physical proof that her father was okay. Pondering the thought for a moment, Gippal had to word this exactly right, otherwise it would be a big waste of time.
“I think he’ll be fine Rikku. Your old man certainly can handle his own if I know him as well as I do.” Gippal said encouragingly, getting the airship carefully off the ground and out of the garage with ease, he had his mind scattered among the topic of conversation and flying this thing carefully, but for a little bit he could place it on auto pilot, which is exactly what he did once he got the airship at the right altitude that he wanted. Turning in his seat and resting back in it a bit to recline, he tried to give her a knowing and sincere look. “He’ll be fine Rikku, especially when we get there! He’ll be happy to see you, and me of course, he wouldn’t have asked for me by name if he didn’t miss me you know.” That was a joke, and he added onto his words with a wink, a smile on her face would do him and herself some good. It would show him that his attempt at cheering her up was working, he couldn’t do much more now aside from wait until they made it to where they needed to be, it would be quite the ride, but it wasn’t going to simply take ten minutes to get there, they had some time to kill and if Rikku spent the entire time worrying, then Gippal would be ill at ease too.
After a few moments of silence, Gippal folded his arms behind his head, crossing one leg over the other, his ankle resting on his knee as he kept a rather masculine look about himself, even if he was crossing his legs. “So, Rikku, aside from all this fun excitement that’s going on now how…how…has Brother been? Poor bloke, I sometimes miss him…sometimes.” He said with a charming grin, getting her mind on anything else…that was his ultimate goal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 807 Muse: Great! With the hissing of air that came from the door being sealed, Rikku plopped down by the second pair of controls, tapping certain buttons that had to be prepared to fire it up. She was still freaking out, but with a set of controls in front of her to focus on, she could actually pay attention to something, focusing her crazy hyper energy on that instead of just flailing around, screaming her lungs out about how worried she was. But, she was worried. Her pops was out there, and…and…well, she just, she just didn’t know what was happening, and it scared her. Despite her bluster of being self-confident at all times, there was insecurity beneath. She hated the thought of being left alone. Her pops and Brother was an odd family, a really odd family, but they were her family. She’d already lost family in the past, but Rikku didn’t want to lose any more. And so the thought of them being taken away from her was one that terrified her.
Thankfully, Gippal’s telling her to strap herself in jarred herself back to reality. Nodding, she reached for her belt and clicked it in, making sure that she would be strapped down for takeoff. She’d been with Gippal on this airship enough to know that he could be a wild driver. And of course, there was the fact that she wanted him to be a wild driver in this situation! They had to get to the farplane as fast as possible! That meant that the wilder he drove, the better. “Ready Gip!”
But after that, she just couldn’t contain herself anymore. With a groan, she continued to help him get the ship up and running and then finally started to rant out her worries to him. She knew that out of anyone in the world, Gippal wasn’t going to judge her for her thoughts. Brother had always pestered and picked on her whenever she acted ‘weak’ or was scared, forcing her to buck up and take things on herself. Perhaps it had shaped her into the independent young woman she was, but every once in a while, Rikku liked to be taken care of. Gippal had always been the ‘brother’ that had been there to have her back and comfort her, rather than just laugh at her about her actions. And here he was once again, ready to give her that shoulder she needed whenever she was in these situations. Amazing, who you ran to when the chips were down that you wouldn’t even admit you liked any other time.
When they were up in the air and they didn’t have to worry so much about piloting, Rikku heard his chair turn. Glancing over at him, biting her lip and trying to contain the worry on her features, she finally let out a huge breath, her shoulder slumping. After that, she rested her arms in front of her on the dash and her head on her arms, pushing her blonde mass of hair out of her eyes to watch him from her vantage point. The wink forced a smile in return, before she groaned and pushed herself back up to sit up, whirling her chair around to face him too. “He does miss you.” What was this, honesty time? Rikku added a little laugh to the end of that. “And, well, you know. He misses it all. Back when mom was alive, and you’d come over all the time.”
She watched with mild interest – or so she told herself…’mild’ – as Gippal crossed his legs and looked over at her. Why did he have to always look so blasted good anyway? It was a sin. But her thoughts were quickly taken off of Gippal’s perfect looks when he mentioned Brother. A dramatic groan escaped her lips, before she slapped her forehead with her hand. “Don’t even mention that freak. He’s still trying to chase Yunie down, even with Tidus back! And spazzing out just as much. Though you should have seen his face the other day when I jellowed his love letter that he’d written to her. Priiiiiceless! I thought he’d had a heart attack for a minute. Even tried tackling me. Ha! I handed his sorry rear back to him and that was that.” Hesitating a moment, she wiggled in her seat, unsure of just why she felt the need to continue. “You really should come around more, ya know? I can arrange some way to distract Brother, and Pops would really enjoy seeing you. You’re more of a son to him then Brother is anyway.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 939 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Gip! Alright! Time to go save some people! More specifically, Rikku’s father, Cid, whom Gippal liked back in the day when he hung around Home a lot more…but that was a topic for a different day. As he sat in the pilot’s seat, Rikku in the second control seat, Gippal was just flickering away at buttons and controls before strapping belt over his waist and calling it good. He was quite the pilot, able to take things smooth and easy to wild and crazy, hence the seatbelt. Getting the Ragnarok off the ground and out of the machina faction was quick and easy, and he boosted the speed pretty quickly, putting the airship on autopilot after that, making sure it kept up that quick steady pace as it practically mimicked Gippal’s wild piloting style. Now he’d be sure to try and calm Rikku’s nerves, otherwise she might explode from everything she was feeling, and because he cared…for the most part. Seeing her so distressed wasn’t all that pleasing, why not swoop in and save the day like any other dashing hero?
Staring up conversation, trying to get her mind on other things, or at least enough to get her to calm down some, Gippal actually felt a sense of calmness wash over him. Even though they were flying in the air at a dangerously quick speed, he was as calm as they come, putting forth his best effort to give some of that calmness to his blonde companion. Hearing her speak about how Cid really did miss him being around, that…made his eyes lower a bit and cut to the side to glance at the dash, as if he were looking at one of the gauges, but he wasn’t. He had just kind of up and left everyone at Home, but…he had bigger dreams for himself! Was that so bad? “I know, but…I guess I was focusing on different things at the time. Like the faction and all...now that it's pretty stable and going well...I guess I'll have more timeon my hands, hm?” He said before returning his eyes to Rikku’s face, hoping that his words would suffice for now. He could afford to take a couple days or so off to go visit people here and there, and it’d be nice to get away from the faction every now and then…at least with Gippal he’d stick to his word, he wasn’t just full of hot air, even in situations such as this.
With a sly smirk emerging onto his face, Gippal thought this would be the perfect opportunity to ask about Rikku’s favorite subject in all of Spira. That very odd Brother of hers…who was her brother, but named Brother…that alone was enough to say that he was just an odd little duckling. Shaking his head slightly at her reaction to his question, the slap to the forehead and the groan…it was funny really, and to be expected. “Still going after Yuna, I guess you have to give him credit for being so persistent…but how does that work when…you’re cousins with Yuna?” he said raising an eyebrow and putting the most amused look on his face as he had shifted his weight around, crossing one leg – in a manly manner – over the other and folding his arms behind his head, almost wishing these seats could recline, but he did lean back a little bit. “I’ll be sure to ask him about this letter next time I see him…and don’t worry, I’ll make time to come around more. Things have just been…crazy busy you know? I wouldn’t mind a push every now and then as a reminder that I need to visit.” Another charming grin shot into her direction as he really didn’t mind the wild and hyper blonde coming around, it’d be nice to have a bit of energy around.
Shooting a glance towards the dash once more, he watched their coordinates, watching them zoom by really. “We’ll be there in no time…then Cid can tell me how much more I need to come by, just as you are.” Cid was going to be fine…Gippal just had to tell Rikku that, he also had to mentally remind himself that Cid was a strong and stubborn guy, he needed to assure himself of the same things he was telling Rikku, he needed to believe everything he was saying for his words to work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 851 Muse: Great! Rikku knew that the subject of Home was a bit tender, it had been for a long time. Back when they had been an item, she had been devastated when he’d said that he wanted to go off and going the crimson squad. Rikku told herself she didn’t care anymore about that, but if she would really be honest with herself she would realize she was still sad that he had run away from Home. She could understand it now that she was a bit older, but she could still remember how alone she had felt when he had gone away. They had fought about it, she remembered that part. Fought because she had said he should stay and he’d been so determined to leave. Well-…that had been a long time ago, she should be over it by now, and she was! She was over it! Or at least she told herself that she was! And his going had probably been the only thing that had pushed her so much to leave Home herself. She had only been fifteen when she had left in search of her cousin. Rikku couldn’t lie, she had been armament to keep Yuna away from having to die by being a grand summoner, hoping that she could save her cousins life. In the end it had worked, though it had been three years of lots of adventure. But Tidus was back, they were all alive and Sin was gone. She figured that was just about as happy an ending as you could possibly get.
The point was that she did regret having brought up the subject of Home and his leaving, and felt a little bit of a blush creep up her neck. She hadn’t meant to start a fight, but now that she had said it, she realize that she had brought up the topic they had fought about so badly years before. Thankfully, Gippal didn’t seem to want to fight about it, and neither did she. So instead she just let out a breath in relief. “Time? Oh…yeah. Well I didn’t mean to-…I’m sorry Gip. They missed you,” she mentioned again, purposely not mentioning that she had missed him as well. When her mother had died, Rikku had turned to Gippal for comfort, and then when he had left she really hadn’t had anyone that understood and was…well, normal. She was glad to be able to talk to him now, but things were different, and that made her sad. Still, she was too prideful to simply admit that she had desperately missed him. ’Besides,’ she reminded herself, ’I got over that really dang quickly! I don’t need Gippal anymore anyway!’ But that wasn’t really the truth.
Unfortunately Gippal had to bring up her brother. Groaning, Rikku slapped her forehead and rolled her eyes, before Gippal questioned how it worked. “You’re asking me?! I have no idea what goes on in that eteud’s mind,” she huffed out. “And yeah, it’s pretty dang creepy. I’ve told him a million and one times that she wants Tidus and she doesn’t want any babies from her cousin. Apparently nothing has gotten to him, so I might have to invent some machine that will change personalities or something. Or…an incinerator,” she mentioned casually. Yeah, turning her brother into ashes really didn’t seem like all that bad of an idea.
And he wouldn’t mind coming to visit? She told herself she was just happy because he was going to make pops happy, and that it had nothing to do with wanting to be with Gippal herself. Still, she felt like singing or something, and beamed a grin back at him, her eyes twinkling. “Oh really Gip?! That’d be great!” Catching herself and noticing how enthusiastic she was being, Rikku leaned back against the control panel and got a hold of herself. “I mean, ya know, great for Pops to get to see you. But he won’t tell you that. He doesn’t like to get emotional or let anyone know that he misses them. So he’ll probably just yell at you for being gone so long. I dunno where he gets that trait from, because I sure don’t ever yell at anyone.” Though she had been teasing at first, the last statement she had been completely serious about, her face sincere. She really was great at never yelling at anyone! Or…so she thought anyway. And she got distracted easily with him saying they’d be there soon. “Oh! We’ll be there soon?! Great! I…don’t like the farplane. I guess, memories are nice, but that’s all they are, you know? It’s creepy at the farplane. Not that I’ve ever gone inside,” she mentioned while redoing a braid and making sure she looked presentable. Why it mattered, she couldn’t say, but all of a sudden she’d like to look nice. It wasn’t that Gippal wanted to leave, but there were bigger and better things for him away from Home. He’d wanted to become a Crusader, to be able to make a difference, but it seemed that dream went right down the crapper with everything else thanks to Sin. From there he’d developed the Machina Faction, it was a nice dream of his, and that one had actually come to life after all the crap with just…yeah, it wasn’t important anymore, but that didn’t mean the subject of him wasn’t a bit tender. It hurt slightly, as if he’d turned his back on his people. He knew well back then and even now that people had their prejudice views on different races. The Al Bhed weren’t liked because of their use of machina, which hadn’t been approved by Yevon, but whatever, they could take their thoughts and shove them. He hadn’t bailed to be a traitor, and he hoped to whatever high being out there that his friends hadn’t thought that of him, that would hurt worse than any wound he could ever receive.
Thinking back, the topic of leaving had brought up some pretty nasty memories. Gippal liked being right, he liked being confident and having people be confident in his choices. Rikku had been far less than confident and pleased with his choices to leave…those verbal discussions that got heated quickly…they weren’t something worth repeating. He simply let the subject slide by and shrug off his shoulders as he remembered that he’d actually missed her and the rest of his companions, it wasn’t something worth yelling or even defending himself over. Shaking his head slightly towards the other blonde, he also waved a hand, dismissing her apology. “Yeah, I know. Don’t worry about it. The subject’s done and over with, isn’t it? I mean…everything’s okay now, for the most part.” Gippal shrugged with a small grin crossing his lips, a look of genuine happiness crossing over all of his features as he continued to sit back in his seat, looking towards his former girlfriend, his current co-pilot…and of course a friend he still cared deeply for – SHE WOULD NEVER FIGURE THAT OUT THOUGH.
Onto a slightly more amusing and lighter subject, Gippal actually laughed out loud to Rikku’s reaction to her brother….Brother. It was so weird that he liked Yuna, in that way of course, they were cousins…and that was just…crossing over many lines that need not be discussed at this point in time. Shaking his head and feeling his laughs turn to chuckles, his shoulders shook as he sunk a bit more in his seat. “Maybe I should have a nice…brotherly talk with him sometime. I’m sure he’d appreciate a man’s advice more than…well…not that you don’t give good advice, but you know what I mean. Guy talk?” he said babbling a little bit. At least he was keeping her mind distracted right now, talking about Brother and how awful it was because people missed him being around and what not. Oh well, t’was the price you paid to be a nice distraction. “I can help you build either of those.” He suggested with a small wink in her direction. If there was something she needed built, he was just the guy for the job. He wasn’t a machina master for just looking good! And yes, he did look….very good.
Another thing that would really get Rikku’s mood up, the idea of coming to visit more often. Gippal could and would do that, if it would make her happy of course, as well as her old man. He did like hanging around her family, practically thought himself as part of them in a way…but it’d been so long since he’d visited, would he still be welcomed with open arms? Well, judging by Rikku’s reaction, that was a definite yes. “Yeah I’ll come around once in awhile, for your old man at least.” He shrugged, finally getting back to the topic at hand. They’d be at the farplane soon enough. He hoped Cid was holding up just fine, but knowing how tough and stubborn he was…well most Al Bhed were stubborn, he would be just fine if that was the case. Still, there was a bit of worry in the back of his mind. “Well don’t worry, you’ve got me by your side. We’ll get to the farplane, get in, get Cid, get out without any problems. So don’t you worry your pretty little head, everything’s going to be just fine.” He assured her, silencing himself from saying anymore as he sunk in his seat a little bit more, tapping his fingertips against his leg waiting…waiting for their arrival, to get to the farplane and see what the hell was going on anymore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 923 Muse: Great! Rikku eagerly nodded when he mentioned that it was done and over with. Heck yes it was! Did she need Gippal?! Heck no! Did she want Gippal? Heck…no? No! Of course not! She just…liked hanging out with him. The world was in short supply of people to hang out with when everyone was pairing off and going their oh so separate ways of being all married or dating and leaving her behind. She hated to be left behind…but she didn’t need no man anyway! As soon as she got some man, she would probably be pounced on by her Pops and his wanting as many babies as humanly possible. Why did that man have such an obsession with her being the only one that could pass on babies anyway? She was seventeen…SEVENTEEN! Did he not realize she was SEVENTEEN?! That was waaaaaaaay too young to even think about little brats running around! And…well anyway, why had her brain gone to babies anyway?
She had to admit, that having Gippal on her side on matters such as her brother really was the best option. Because sheesh, all she knew was that she was sick to death of Brother and his obsession with Yunie. Not only was Yunie their cousin, but she was Rikku’s FRIEND too, and no brother should hit on their sisters friends! Because that was obviously the most important issue between Brother’s attraction to Yuna…yeah, that Yuna was her friend. Oh of course that was the most important issue. Thankfully he seemed to be on the same page in thinking it was creepy. While she was ranting about it, she noticed that he seemed to get a good laugh out of the deal. Before she knew it, she herself was giggling, but then tried to straighten out her features. “OH PLEASE! I would love you forever if you sat him down and had a talk with him! Someone has to do it, and obviously the beatings I’ve been giving him haven’t been cutting through his hormonal level.” And Rikku really did mean literal beatings when she said beatings. Heck, it wasn’t her fault that he was so creepy!
She got the giggles all over again when he agreed that he could help build either one of those objects. “I’d personally rather turn him into a pile of ash then to change his personality anyway,” she said cheerfully. “Right now he’s just kind of an air pirate…stealing air that intelligent people could use.”, she said with a shake of her head. Rikku really did hope that Gippal was being serious when he said that he could talk to her brother, because…well, something needed to be done about the weird man.
Odd, how she was so firm in that she didn’t need anything to do with Gippal, and yet right at the moment she was extremely relieved to hear him say the words ‘you’ve got me by your side’. She didn’t know what she would do if she was going to have to face this situation alone. Didn’t know at all…and clung to him in that he was familiar and safe and she knew him and knew that he would help her. Rikku in the end, knew that Gippal wasn’t going to let her down. No, if he said that he was going to help her get her pops back, then he was going to help get her pops back-Woooah! Suddenly the controls on the airship started to whack. Rikku straightened up and punched a few different buttons, scowling at the screen. “Something’s interfering with the connection,” she said in the excitement, tapping at a few more buttons and scanning the different controls as they went crazy on the control panel. They must be close to the Farplane…

Gippal had to give himself a good pat on the back for all the distractions he was putting forth for Rikku. He had to chuckle at the conversation about Brother, honestly it was completely ridiculous, but hey, if Rikku really wanted him to…Gippal would make good on his word and sit the guy down for an awkward conversation of awkward regarding Yuna and how it wasn’t okay to skip after your cousin like that. Shaking his head a bit with a small laugh still in his voice, he looked towards the messy haired blonde, amused by her reactions as a whole. She was so…energetic and very vibrant, it made her…desirable and fun, and he’d gladly admit that out loud, but that would only give her reason to poke fun at him or something. Silly Rikku. “Alright, I’ll do what I can…but I’m no miracle worker.” He said with a small shrug, almost apologetically. Getting through to Brother would be a challenge of its own. Good luck to Gippal on that one.
Shaking his head at Rikku, she was just far too amusing to him, it sort of brightened the mood during all of this worrying that should be happening. On the inside, Gippal was worried for Rikku’s old man, Cid, he was worried greatly and didn’t want anything bad to happen to the guy, but he’d never let those feelings show on his face. No sense in scaring Rikku by showing his own fears right? He was here to help her, to keep her calm and as level headed as possible, if he broke down and voiced his uncertainty about the ending of things…it would only bring doubt and fear to the younger of the two. “We can build something to vaporize him…though I’m sure you wouldn’t really want to wipe him off the face of Spira…at least…sometimes, right?” he said with a small shrug of his shoulders, feeling as if the topic was going to come to an end, and thus the end of a good distraction. Gippal really did feel proud enough to get her chatting about something else, that time had come to an end though, and Gippal put his serious face back on, turning back to the controls and looking them and everything else over.
When things started to misbehave within the airship, his eyes shot to Rikku as she punched buttons here and there. Something was definitely making the airship falter a bit, but it would hold until they got to the farplane…and it would hold when they needed to leave. Whatever was causing this trouble…it wasn’t going to be easy to fix, but if there was anything that needed fixed or repaired, Gippal was your guy, he wasn’t an expert with machina for nothing! Giving his friend a small nod, his gaze went back forward, watching the scene ahead. “We’re definitely close, you’ve got that right.” He said, taking an occasional glance at the gauges and screens within the Ragnarok, seeing them go fuzzy and clear, connecting and disconnecting. At least these interferences wouldn’t take the entire ship down, just a few…auto gears, the rest would be up to the actual pilots themselves. Not wanting much more difficulty, Gippal flipped the switch and put himself back on manual mode, his hands on the gears as he himself flew the ship, taking control of everything it did.
“We’ll land near Guadosalam in a moment or so, then we’ll be walking the rest of the way.” He informed Rikku as he prepared to land the airship, looking at different gears and pressing different buttons. With a slow deceleration, Gippal felt the airship land on the ground smoothly, from there he let the ship power down and immediately leaped up from his seat, looking towards Rikku, a serious almost leader like look on his face as he gave her a small nod and went to retrieve his gun-saw. “Let’s get going. We’ve got no time to waste.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 766 Muse: Good! Tagged: Rikku Wearing: Already linked Listening To: Stuffs Notes: Nada!

Rikku found herself laughing when Gippal mentioned that she didn’t always want to kill him. Oh, well, she didn’t know about that. She really could sometimes see her always wanting to strangle her older brother. How someone could be so stupid and still be breathing was beyond her. Somehow he managed to accomplish it, though she sometimes questioned if he was even ‘living’ in his current state, especially whenever he went into one of his seizures he passed off as dancing. Who the heck danced like that anyway? And why had he convinced himself tha-…actually, she didn’t really want to understand how her brother thought. She figured it was all just Yuna’s boobs floating through his mind all day anyway, which probably was the only reason he actually had a drive to live. Which was sad. Tapping at her chin with her fingers, Rikku shrugged. “Nah, most of the time, as in, all of the time, I would love to dump him over the side of a machina ship.”
Things quickly shifted when the ship started to do strange things. Tapping at a few buttons, Rikku clicked a few things up and watched to see if it had any changes or anything. So far nothing, it seemed to just continually be doing strange things. What could it be? There was almost some sort of interference with the currents that they needed to make this thing land properly. Tapping a few more things, she then looked over at Gippal to see what he made of it. Same as her obviously. Well of course, she always had the right ideas. That meant that they had to be getting close, though you couldn’t tell by the coordinates, which said that they were somewhere by the Calm Lands. Right, so this was going to have to be simply by sight and not any reliance on technology to do anything. Good thing they were experts in flying machina.
“Alright Gip!”, she said when he mentioned that he was going to land it. Whirling back around, Rikku fiddled with a few things to try and help him be able to land easier, and then pushed back slightly to watch him land it, since she doubted that he would need her help. If he did, then he could just tell her and she’d hop in. Until then, she would sit back and let him do the work, since he was a man and would probably get upset if she didn’t allow him to do that. She knew how men worked…they wanted to do everything themselves generally speaking.
Biting her lip, Rikku nodded when he mentioned that they should get going, before rising from her seat and straightening her appearance. She wasn’t sure she really wanted to do this…or really find out what had happened, but she supposed she had to. She needed to know what had happened to Cid after all. Scooting her daggers around, she opened the door to the airship and made her way out, shifting to look back and see if Gippal was coming after her. Instantly she had memories of their travels through Guadosalam with Yuna. Thank heavens Yuna hadn’t actually married Seymour…that would have been awful. Sooo awful. "Come on, let's hurry!", she mentioned somewhat urgantly, before turning and jogging away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 719 Muse:; Kenstractions invaded? Gippal could only shake his head and keep the distracting conversation going. Rikku sure was something else, and definitely wasn’t afraid to say just about anything…or at least, that’s what Gippal had come to believe after knowing her for this long. With a small chuckle escaping his lips, Gippal couldn’t resist cracking a smile towards the other blonde Al-Bhed as well. He could picture Rikku doing anything to rid the world of her brother. Vaporizing him, throwing him over the side of an airship…it all was very likely. It all just came with timing…and whoever else was around. No doubt a sane person wouldn’t allow her to kill her own Brother…though sometimes, he sure did deserve a nice smack upside the head, followed by a stern talking to. Oh well, at least Gippal would make good on his word and next time he saw Brother, he’d give him a manly talk about…what not to do, like day dream about your cousin and flock after her. It just wasn’t right.
Pleasant chatter would have to wait until later…if there was anything to be happy about. Gippal kept his spirits high though, he knew Cid was a tough guy, stubborn like his daughter, but still, there was always that possibility that something bad could’ve happened. He didn’t want to worry Rikku though, he kept his confidence high as he focused more on landing the airship, planting it down outside of Guadosalam, and soon they’d be on their way towards the farplane. As his eyes – or one good eye – gazed across the different controls and gauges, Gippal had a serious and rather stoic expression across his face as he flipped a few switched, always keeping one hand on the controls, not wanting to have his hand away should something go wrong. With all of these gauges and auto-switches starting to falter due to getting near to the farplane, it was very important to be alert and always watching…especially when you were thousands of feet in the sky.
Feeling the airship hit the ground gently, Gippal was up and already hoisting his gun-saw over his shoulder, trailing after Rikku. He knew she’d be quick to her feet as well, so he kept his own pace quick. Hopping out of the airship and making sure it closed back up – that way no unwanted visitors crawled inside – Gippal then trailed after Rikku quickly, catching up those few steps to her as he was already looking around, making sure no one here would interrupt them. The Guado could be pretty peaceful creatures, especially after Maester Seymour had been defeated by Yuna, Rikku and the rest of that gang, Gippal could only shudder at the thought of Yuna marrying that creep. Even before all that crap about what Seymour had been up to came out, Gippal knew that guy gave him the willies. A Guado hybrid who wanted nothing more than to save Spira by ending her? Wow, some people were just plain crackpots, but hopefully there would be no interruptions, no angst towards the Al-Bhed…there were more important things to worry about right now, like Cid’s well being.
With a quick stride, Gippal had gotten a few feet ahead of Rikku, he was heading in the right direction, but his own worries were pushing him forward, he wanted to save Cid, to figure out what was up with the farplane. “Are you keeping up?” he said with a brief glance over his shoulders towards the messy haired blonde. Of course she was going to keep up. If she wasn’t…then that meant Cid didn’t matter, and to Rikku…Cid really did matter, Gippal could tell.
It was a straight shot to the farplane, Gippal had traveled through Guadosalam a few times before, it wasn’t for anything special, but he knew the way around for the most part. Luckily they hadn’t been stopped by anyone or anything, just a few passer-bys who gave them odd looks. Among the long limbed Guado, two blonde haired swirly green eyed Al-Bheds? It was different, but people weren’t as prejudice these days…at least that’s what most liked to think. “Just up those stairs…have you ever…been to the farplane?” He said gazing up a set of stairs that led towards their destination. He turned to look back at Rikku, a look of curiosity on his face. He’d heard about the farplane, but never been here before, if Rikku had traveled with Yuna during her pilgrimage, then he must’ve been here before…right? As soon as she could, Rikku had bounced out of the airship and was then standing on the ground, shifting her weight between her feet while she waited. She just wanted to gooooo! Bouncing up and down, she could barely hold herself in one spot – not that she was doing all that great of job in that area – while she waited for him to close up the airship that they had come on. He was right of course, in doing so, but she didn’t want to take even that little bit of time. Finally he was all done! Woah, more than done, he was ahead of her. Picking up her feet, she rushed after him, having to use way more steps to go the same distance as he was. That was all due to his long legs! How could he be so fast when he was hauling around that gun that was bigger than she was? And he was asking her if she was keeping up? Giving him a slightly disgruntled look, she flipped her blonde mass of hair over her shoulder and trotted to get even with him. “Of course I’m keeping up Gip! You can’t get rid of me that easily!”
Rikku kept her eyes to herself as they hurried through Guadosalam. She didn’t really care about the odd tree people that resided around here. After the whole business with creepy Seymour trying to marry Yuna-…well yeah, needless to say, she didn’t have much love for the Guado, that was for sure. It wasn’t that she was prejudice necessarily; it was that they practically had freaking leaves sticking out of their heads! Yeah…that was creepy. Very creepy, and the memories of the previous times in Guadosalam didn’t help either. Sheesh, they needed to all get a life and not follow creepy people. Besides that, worry for her father was gnawing its way through her stomach, to the point where she was sick about it. She may put on a show around him, but he was her pops. She’d already lost her mother, she didn’t want to lose her father too. If anyone had to go, why couldn’t it be Brother-…er…well you know, if anyone had to-…she should probably keep those thoughts to herself.
And then they were there. Rikku stood slightly behind and to the side of Gippal, staring up the steps and into what was the Farplane. She felt her mouth go dry and shook her head when he asked her if she had ever been in the Farplane. “No, I stayed outside when we came.”, she said, rubbing at her eyes. “Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.” That was what she had told everyone when they had been trying to get her to enter the Farplane with them. She still felt that way about memories, along with a bit of apprehension, but her pops came first! If she had to go into there to find him, then she would! “Come on Gip! We’ve gotta find pops!”, she called out even while she popped out and away from his arm and started to sprint up the steps.
She did hesitate when she got there, glancing over her shoulder at her companion, before she took a deep breath and dove into the swirly mass, feeling herself being pulled the rest of the way. Almost instantly she was spat out and thrown onto the ground on the other side. Landing on her hands and knees, Rikku popped up almost instantly and looked up. What she saw made her gasp and scoot back, only to pump into the solid flesh that had to be Gippal. “Gip…look!”, she said in horror, pointing forward. There seemed to be some sort of hole ripped in the side, where a portal was. The wind whipped at her, pulled at her, beckoned her to go toward the portal even as she resisted it and pressed against the blonde behind her. “Oh no…” She’d never been inside, but she knew what they were. Pyreflies, some in oddly distorted shapes were buzzing around the Farplane in what seemed to be distress, fighting the beckoning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 868 Muse:; Great!
