Yeul was sick with the hollow feeling that resided within herself. She was living, yes, but…she would die again. Noel had created that world she had asked for, and had come back for her. Of course, they had granted her life, Etro’s ‘blessing’ that she had gotten took care of that. But the happiness one could feel about living had been tarnished by the knowledge that the continual cycle of death for her would still continue on. Caius had been stopped in his plan, and Noel had caused the others to rise and find a way to reverse the effects of Chaos, sealing back in its proper place. They could return to their normal lives, uncaring about what would happen. She had pretended to be overjoyed at the prospect of living. Yet she was still a servant of Etro, even if they didn’t have the same goddess. She was a servant of the goddess. The thought had brought tears to her eyes. And so here she was, in Valhalla. Yeul wasn’t sure completely what she would say to the goddess, but she had reached the breaking point.
She couldn’t pretend anymore, couldn’t pretend to be alright with dying over and over again. With everything fixed, Yeul didn’t want to see the future anymore. The blessing had become a burden that was too much to bear. A curse. No servant should view their duty as a curse. Standing in Valhalla, Yeul’s face lowered, arms hung at her sides. She didn’t want to live this lonely shell of a life any longer. A future. That was all she wanted. A future free from dying and then being reborn. If death forever would be the answer to that desire, then that was what she wanted. Perhaps this new goddess wouldn’t fulfill her wish, but the young priestess had to try.
As she had told Caius. She was tired. Tired of this, and now…with the prospect of a new world around her, Noel and his smiles, and the rest…it was getting to her. The smiles on the faces of everyone. They spoke of the happiness that they all felt. Perhaps in earlier years, Yeul could obtain the same happiness just knowing that the people were happy. Now though…now it wasn’t enough. Noel kept talking about how she could live now, that he had saved her. She didn’t have the heart to tell him she would continue to die, and had already seen glimpses of the future. Glimpses she didn’t want to see. She wanted to be able to smile back at him sincerely and not have the knowledge that she would continue to die before she reached her twentieth birthday. Was it too much to ask for a future? A normal life?
“Please…” she begged, standing there with her head still bowed. Reaching up her dainty hands, Yeul folded them over her chest, shoulders slumped slightly. A single tear slid down her cheeks then, creating a trail of moisture over her face. She begged for the goddess to come to her, to hear her plea. The young woman didn’t know what else to do, or what else she could do. She was seventeen years old, and this was her life. It simply wasn’t fair, and either way, life or death, she would rid herself of this service toward a goddess that was no longer even living. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 755 Muse:; Great! It was done. Everything Lightning and her companions had set out to do had been done, and they were now celebrating their victory by living happy, carefree lives. For Cosmos, this had all been quite the challenge too. Leaving Order’s Sanctuary and Dissidia behind had been a difficult choice to make, but Lightning had been right to come to her. If anyone knew how to handle Chaos, in whatever form it presented itself, it was the goddess of harmony. And now that she saw the fruits of her labor; a world freed of Chaos, she couldn’t help but feel pleased with herself. This, right here, was what she had always wanted. This was what she and all her warriors had fought for for as long as she could remember. At long last, their work had paid off. The goddess didn’t know if her old nemesis would return or whether he was truly defeated, somehow, the thought that he was gone was surreal to her. Time would tell, she supposed. If he did return, she’d handle it like she always did. And considering Order’s Sanctuary wasn’t really a location, but more a plain of existence, she could easily go there directly from Valhalla. In fact, she was there right now. Valhalla was beautiful in an almost sad way, but Cosmos wasn’t willing to part with her old home just yet. She could watch over Pulse from over here as well, and she could get back to Valhalla just as easily as she’d come to the Sanctuary, so why wouldn’t she come back here, at least every once in a while?
Smiling faintly, she took a glance into Lightning’s life, now that she was freed. The looks of exhaustion and despair she’d carried before, when she approached her with her request, were gone. Now, she simply seemed happy and relieved, and seeing her happy made Cosmos feel happy as well. Maybe one of these days, she’d go to Gran Pulse once again to see everyone in person. After her journey with Warrior, she knew she wasn’t restricted to any one place, so it was a possibility at least. But for now, she didn’t want to intrude upon their happiness. They deserved some time alone, without any gods forcing themselves into their lives.
Not everyone was happy with the way things were though. A sad presence had entered Valhalla, one who was as tired as Lightning had been before, one who was deeply troubled by something. And when she heard the girl speak, Cosmos couldn’t help but be affected by the girl’s sorrow. What was bothering her? What could be so awful that she’d seek out a goddess? And one she’d never even met too. She could understand Lightning or Hope coming to her for help, because they knew she wasn’t a cruel goddess. But this girl had no way of knowing that. Her situation had to be grim indeed if she was willing to risk it. Cosmos didn’t intend to make it a habit to appear before anyone who needed her, because let’s face it, she had a lot of responsibilities weighing down on her already, even more so now that she had replaced Etro in Valhalla. She’d come to those that truly needed her, but if someone appeared to her asking her to use her godly powers to make their chickens have golden eggs or something silly like that, she’d likely just pretend not to be home. This seemed serious though. This girl didn’t look like the type to ask for small, unimportant things.
And so, Cosmos focused her mind on Valhalla once again, teleporting away from the Sanctuary and towards where the girl was located. She appeared behind the girl, not wanting to scare her to death by suddenly appearing in front of her, and put on a kind smile before alerting the girl to her presence. “Raise your head, child. Tell me what troubles you.” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 656 Tagged: Dat Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: Just figured I'd have Valhalla and Order's Sanctuary connected somehow just in case we get another Chaos again and she needs to go back there. ;P Hope this was alright!

Standing there, head bowed lowly, Yeul didn’t look around her, didn’t stir and didn’t show any signs of life besides the moving of her chest and the slight shifts in her stance to keep herself balanced. Desperation had forced her here. Desperation to rid herself of this curse and be free from the suffering she had gone through for years. But would the goddess hear her plea? Yeul wasn’t sure if the goddess, this Cosmos, was even here. Of course, she could come here if she wanted to, but Yeul wasn’t sure if she would. Of course, was her problem really worth the time of a goddess? She wasn’t sure. Still, all she could do was try, right? Yeul didn’t want to have to live this life anymore. She wanted to be free from this. The goddess would sense her presence, begging her to come forth. Begging her to know that Yeul was here, suffering. Begging her to help Yeul.
Still, she had her doubts that the goddess would come. The situation was odd, ruling not only this world but another as well. Why waste time coming back to help a lowly servant of the previous goddess? When she really thought long and hard about the goddess, Yeul wondered if she would come back for such a menial task. There was sure to be larger things to do, things more grand that she had to take care of. Who had time for one teenage servant girl? Not likely anyone, especially a goddess. So why had she come? Staring down at the ground beneath her feet, the young woman asked herself the same question over and over. Why? There had been so many ‘why’s lately, at least for her. Why did everyone else get to be saved and she would still be a servant of the goddess? Why…why…why. There had to be an answer.
There had to be someone willing to listen to the pleading of one girl. The only one she could thnk of was this new goddess. Yet…she knew nothing about this Cosmos, not even what the others had said about her. She had nothing to go on. For all she knew, this goddess could be as demanding as Etro had been. But had Etro really been so demanding? To certain people, perhaps, but while she had been alive previously, Yeul had forced herself to think of it as a blessing, as she had been taught to believe. What was it? A blessing or a curse? She didn’t know, not really, but she did know that she wanted it to end. However she could bring that about, she would. There was no doubt in her mind.
She couldn’t give up hopes that the goddess would come.
And a second later her plea was answered. The calm, gentle voice spoke behind her. Could it be? For a moment, Yeul kept her eyes downward, head bowed there. It was only when she was told to lift her head up that she did so. Lifting her gaze, Yeul slowly turned around to look at who was behind her.
When she did turn, she was captivated by the beauty of the woman standing there in front of her. Yeul felt the desire to get to her knees before the woman, to beg her for what she desired. So overcome at the beauty of the goddess was Yeul, that she couldn’t seem to think of what she had to say, yet what she felt was reflected in the green depths of her eyes. A hollow sorrow, burned deep within her. Should she pour her heart out to the woman? Bowing her gaze once more to hide the emotion she was feeling, Yeul kept her hands clasped together over her heart. “Goddess Cosmos, fearful was I, that you might be unable to hear the sorrow that your humble servant holds deep in the cavity of her chest. My gratitude is unable to be expressed, so relieved am I of your presence,” she started out, still overcome that she was standing here, asking what was the matter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 868 Muse:; Great! Despite having been a goddess for what felt like centuries, this situation she found herself in now still felt strangely foreign to her. Cosmos wasn’t used to being known to the people, she wasn’t used to people actually trying to approach her to ask her for help. Her entire life, she’d been confined to Order’s Sanctuary and Dissidia. Others didn’t call upon her, instead, she called upon them to help fight the forces of Chaos. The only ones who knew of her existence were her own warriors and of course Chaos and his warriors as well, but besides that, nobody else knew of her or of the cycles that were continuously fought in order to keep balance in the worlds. This new position would definitely take a lot of getting used to, perhaps that’s why she kept going back to her old Sanctuary? Because that was the only familiar thing she had right now? No, that wasn’t true. The Warrior of Light was also still with her, which was a great relief. She could use a shoulder to lean on every once in a while, and his shoulders were the best she could think of.
Whatever happy feelings her thoughts of Warrior brought forth were quickly swept away when she felt someone entering Valhalla, and this someone carried a sorrow with them that was impossible to ignore. Their emotions rang so strongly that even the goddess felt affected by them. Who was it? And why had they come to see her? Was there something she could help them with? She sure hoped so, because no one should have to live with such negative feelings all the time. Although Cosmos initially hesitated about showing herself to one of her ‘servants’, she ultimately found that she couldn’t turn her back on this even if she wanted to. Her own emotions swayed a little, affected by the feelings of the person that had come to her. There was really no other choice in the matter; she should at least go and see what was the matter, that was the least she could do.
When she arrived at Valhalla, she was surprised to see that it was a little girl who had approached her, asking for help. She seemed so young, what could possibly trouble her? From what Cosmos had seen of young girls, the biggest problem they seemed to have was boy trouble, and helpful as Cosmos liked to be, boy trouble was not something she could help anyone with. They’d need to figure it out for themselves. But then the girl turned around and the sorrow in her eyes had most definitely not stemmed from something as petty as a boy not liking her. This went much deeper, and the goddess couldn’t help but feel sorry for the girl. Although her own expression saddened some, she tried her best to smile and make her feel comfortable. There was really no reason to fear this particular goddess at all, because she wasn’t a goddess of destruction or sorrow or anything like that. Instead, she embodied the light and harmony in the world. Whatever was troubling the girl, Cosmos would try to help in any way she could, and even if she couldn’t help her, at the very least, she wouldn’t make the problem worse. The golden haired woman listened patiently to the girl’s words and nodded along with them understandingly. There was something strange about this young woman… she looked young, but the energy – the aura – that surrounded her… it seemed old, almost ancient. There was definitely more to this person than meets the eye.
“Your sorrow was… difficult to ignore,” Cosmos explained, taking a step closer to where the girl was standing, “I could feel it burning in my own heart, affecting my own emotions…” the goddess spoke quietly, “Your suffering has… lasted for a very long time, has it not?” it most certainly felt that way to Cosmos. She’d seen people in pain before, both physical and emotional, but no matter how tragic their stories were, she had never quite felt a pain worse than the one that radiated off of this particular girl. Cosmos didn’t know who she was, or what, really. Was she even human? Something told her she was indeed human, but at the same time, she was something different. Something ancient. It was hard to explain. “You do not have to be fearful of me,” she started gently when she noticed that the girl was still bowing her head and addressing her in an overly formal way, “Could you tell me your name?” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 766 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: \

Yeul continued to glance up at the goddess and then down quickly at her hands, folded across her chest, unable to continue holding her gaze for long. Whenever she did look up, however, all she could see was the gentle look that the goddess held in her eyes. Despite knowing nothing about this Cosmos, Yeul could feel the kindness that radiated from the beautiful woman. Yeul hadn’t seen such beauty in so long, she felt this apprehension around the beauty of a goddess. That, and…she seemed gentle, concerned, worried for her. Why would Cosmos be worried for her if she had never met her before? Finding the courage, Yeul raised her head up and looked at the serene image in front of her. Something about Cosmos just calmed her down. This woman…she would be able to help her. She was sure of it. Or at least, she clung to the hope that this woman truly could help her in her current situation.
The ‘young’ girl had never expected for the goddess to worry about her. Hadn’t expected for her to care about her in the least. She had thought that the woman would send her on her way, and if she was lucky, she would release her from the curse that was hovering over her head. Much to Yeul’s amazement though, the goddess was asking her questions, wondering things about her…Yeul had never thought that the woman would show any sort of personal interest in herself specifically. The thought floored her completely. So much so that she had no idea how to respond to the attention.
The question, however, was not hard to understand. With a head that was still slightly bowed, Yeul thought about the question that the goddess was asking her. Nodding slowly, Yeul then brought her eyes up to look at the vision before her. “The suffering of your humble servant started hundreds of years previous to this time we are in now, and would go on and on for eons of time if she had not come to the goddess for help.” Yeul’s eyes dropped down to her hands again, clasped in front of her chest still. “The suffering is a ‘blessing’ of the goddess Etro, and it would go on forever, repeating itself if not for the possibility that you, oh goddess of harmony, can free one simple girl from her bonds and loose her forever.”
Nodding at her statement that she didn’t have to be fearful of her, and asking her name, Yeul addressed her humbly. “My name, is Paddra Nsu-Yeul, one of the many Yeul’s,” she added at the end of that. Not elaborating on that, Yeul tried to once again find the courage to ask this goddess what she had come here for. “Yeul is the Seers priestess, a girl chosen by the goddess Etro to be a servant, to have bestowed upon her, the ability to see into the future. For such an ability, a price has to be set. For a gift comes death. Death continues in a cycle that will be never ending…if you cannot help this priestess.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 711 Muse:; Great! There was definitely something peculiar about this girl. When you looked at her, you simply saw a young girl, maybe sixteen or seventeen years old, but not much older than that. But what you could see was usually not all there was to a person, and this Yeul girl was really no different. Everything else about her, from the way she spoke to the aura that surrounded her, it all betrayed that there was something more about her than meets the eye. The aura felt old, almost ancient. And sad. Above all else, she seemed sad. Heartbroken even. Whatever burden she bore, it had to be a heavy one if it could affect her this badly. “I see,” Cosmos replied briefly when Yeul told her about how she suffered for hundreds of years already. So that was why she seemed older than her physical form implied. Her soul was one that had lingered for centuries, and that was why her pain seemed so intense as well, it had had plenty of time to fester and grow to where it was now. The goddess’s eyes saddened when Yeul told her she would suffer for many more centuries if the cycle wasn’t broken, and that Etro had been the one to bestow this ‘blessing’ upon her. That was the part that worried Cosmos the most; that Etro had been the one to do this to the girl. Cosmos was a goddess, yes, but she wasn’t all powerful. Could she take away what another goddess had created? She really wasn’t sure, but she could tell by the girl’s expression that she really didn’t want to hear of her doubts. She just wanted to be freed from her destiny, and that, Cosmos could understand completely. Indeed, if anyone understood what she was going through, it was the goddess of harmony herself. She, too, lived an endless cycle of a life, where she was destined to die at the end of each cycle, and be reborn in time to start the next one. The same was true for Chaos as well. Such a life wasn’t a blessing, but Cosmos didn’t see it as a burden either. It was simply something she had to do, even if she wasn’t commanded to do so. Everyone depended on her and her warriors to maintain a sense of balance throughout the different worlds by opposing and defeating Chaos and his own warriors. It was good to know that her sacrifices weren’t meaningless.
But as she continued to listen to what Yeul was telling her, it seemed that there were some pretty big differences between the two of them after all. Cosmos’s destiny was a necessity. If she gave up, the worlds would fall into discord, and everyone would have to pay the price for her indifference. But Yeul’s duty… was it really necessary? Seeing the future was a useful skill to possess, and Cosmos could even understand why Etro had believed it to be a gift. Knowing the future, you would know exactly when your time was up, and thus, you would try to make the most of the time you had left. Seeing and knowing the future provided a certainty that could not be found in any other way. That was probably the general idea behind it, but the problem was that Etro had looked at this through the eyes of a goddess. A goddess saw things differently from a human being, simply because her mind worked in ways that humans couldn’t comprehend, and what seemed like a blessing to Etro and probably every other god out there, would be seen as a curse to any human being. Humanity was a short lived species, their idea of long range consequences was maybe a hundred years or so, they couldn’t imagine how their actions might affect the people that would live thousands if not millions of years after they had passed away. Because of this, they would try to alter their future to their own benefit. They didn’t have the knowledge to see how saving themselves might doom the people of the future.
Cosmos, being part human, could see where both sides of the argument were coming from, and that made this decision a difficult one to make. Seeing the future really was a gift, and perhaps future generations would gain an understanding that would allow them to see it as such as well. Just throwing it away now seemed like a terrible waste in the long run. But at the same time, perhaps humanity would never evolve to the point where they could view this power as a gift, in which case Cosmos would’ve doomed the poor girl to centuries more of suffering, and that by her very nature was unacceptable. Cosmos was a goddess of harmony, and forcing Yeul to continue to suffer was not something that lay in her nature. Perhaps this was not a decision she should be making alone. Perhaps the wisest thing to do was to try and help Yeul understand what she was giving up, and letting her make her own decision in the end. “I understand how you feel Yeul,” she told her quietly, “But is this truly what you desire? Your power is one I have never seen before in a human being, and once you give it up, there is no telling if it can ever be granted to anyone again. You have grown used to knowing what is to happen ahead of time, if this power is removed, everything will change for you. Every uncertainty that others face will be branded upon you as well, and the way you experience life from then on will change drastically. And you must understand that once your powers are gone, your immortality will disappear as well. You cannot be reborn again. When you die, your death will be permanent. Are you prepared to handle those changes? Do you believe you have the strength to face and endure those changes?” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 998 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: Death permanent? Yeul wasn’t sure what was holding her here. As she stood, hands folded, eyes cast down toward her feet, she wondered what would happen with Cosmos. She had heard of the kind of woman she was. And hoped dearly that it was the case. This suffering had gotten to her so much that she didn’t want to think about life like this anymore. It had gotten to that point, and she was tired of it all. Noel had given her the future she had wanted. The world that she had wanted, but really, what was there for her now? She would continue to die…and for what? The world’s future was secure, at least in regards to chaos and Caius. So now all she had was to die for nothing. They had fixed the timeline, and everyone was back here in this time. Why was it that she would have to continue to suffer? Unless...Cosmos could rid her of the curse in which she had been given.
That was why she was here. If there was any possibility that Cosmos could grant her that, then she would stay here and hope. She had thought it over, she had had hundreds of years in different forms to think over what she would want if she could. And this is the conclusion she had come to. Yeul didn’t want to die repeatedly any longer. She had been chosen, yes, but now that Etro was dead, there was no reason for her to have to suffer. The people had gotten what they needed. Noel and the rest had made sure that the world would be a better place. But now she needed to do this as well.
When Cosmos started to ask her questions, Yeul courageously raised her eyes to meet the gaze of the beautiful vision of a woman. Was she willing to do that? Give up her powers? After the woman had gotten done with her speech, Yeul started. “For centuries, the seeress before you has had the blessing of having the eye of Etro. The gift to see far into the future. To see new futures. Every blessing is also akin to a curse. I have watched each time foster into destruction of the future. Still, not only sadness do I see, but each time, there is hope, that the new world will bring the happiness of the subjects within.”, her soft voice came out hardly above a whisper, yet she was firm in her explanation, and her eyes remained watching Cosmos.
“Every Yeul had one same vision, Cosmos. A vision of running into the arms of one man, of flowers surrounding her feet. Every Yeul took comfort in thinking one day they would be able to be as joyous as the Yeul in the vision. But every one died without obtaining that, lost as another Yeul was reborn to take her place. The others, they get to reside in this world. I would love to get the chance to do the same.”, her eyes changed then, going from swimming with emotion, to confident. Firm in her resolve.
“The benefits have come with suffering. A cycle that can never end. I would rather die for times to come then have my current conditions continue everlasting. The changes will take adjustment on my part, but I do think I have the strength to do it.” She had had the strength of bearing the burdens she had for hundreds of years. Perhaps adjusting would be hard, but she felt that she could do it. She had watched perhaps her best friend be led into insanity for her course that she had been given. Never again did she want to have the chance that it would happen. “I can be content to live a normal life and then die, surrounded by those that I cherish.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 825 Muse:; Great! A gift that was at the same time a curse, Cosmos knew exactly what the girl known as Yeul meant by that. Although the goddess generally considered her existence to be a blessing, there were times when she too wished she could give up the life she had and live a different one; a simpler one. Being a goddess with a duty so great that few would be able to even understand the burden of having to carry that much responsibility while also having the thoughts and feelings of a human being occasionally created conflict in her mind. The goddess in her understood that her duties had to be carried out, and it was also the goddess within herself that understood she couldn’t falter in her tasks because there was too much at stake, and it was that part that wished to remain in this position because if she had to bear the burden, it meant someone else wouldn’t have to. Selfless, that was the goddess within her. But the human part occasionally wished for things that were purely selfish. How often had she wanted to give up her duties as a goddess to live the life of a normal woman? Too often, but thankfully those thoughts had never been acted upon, and even to this day, she continued to carry out the duty she’d been given the day she’d been created by Cid to balance out Chaos’s powers of destruction.
The golden haired woman nodded her head patiently to indicate that she was listening intently to what Yeul was telling her, but once the young woman got to the part about a vision that both she and all the other Yeuls had shared about being with someone they loved, in a field full of flowers, Cosmos lowered her gaze to the floor a little as she imagined that dream of theirs. It was a beautiful thing to wish for, and Cosmos herself shared that dream with them, although she was certain the man in question was not the same for herself and Yeul. Still, they both wanted the same. Cosmos couldn’t have that dream though, not really. She could be with Warrior of course, but she could never be as happy and free as she was in those dreams. Just because she couldn’t have that life though, didn’t mean that Yeul also couldn’t have it. Yeul’s ability to see the future were useful in a way, but in the end, it wasn’t essential that she continued to have those visions. The world would continue on even without her visions, and the future would continue to shape itself whether this girl was a witness to it before it happened or not. No, this was a burden that didn’t need to be carried, and from what she understood here, it had already been carried long enough. Yeul deserved peace. She deserved to finally have that eternal vision of bliss come true.
“I believe so too…” she spoke softly in agreement to Yeul’s words, her eyes stayed glued to the ground for a little while longer before she looked up and smiled gently, “I believe you have the strength to face a new future, however uncertain it might be,” she nodded her head slowly and then looked up towards the sky as she sighed, “I… know not whether I can take this burden off of you,” she admitted sadly, letting her shoulders droop some in disappointment, “It was the goddess Etro that granted you this gift, and it is the goddess Etro that has the strength to remove it again. Some of her powers have been passed to me with the taking of her throne, but there is no guarantee, I want you to be aware of that.” She really wished she could’ve snipped her fingers and for all of Yeul’s problems to fade away instantly, but that just wasn’t the case here, and she wanted Yeul to be aware of the possibility of failure. Feeding her false hope would not benefit her, and so Cosmos refrained from doing so. She closed her eyes a moment and then looked back at Yeul, offering her a sympathetic smile, “Even so, there is no harm in trying,” she started, taking a small step towards the young woman before her and placing a comforting hand upon her shoulder, “You have suffered enough. And although I cannot promise that your curse will end with my intervention, I will try my hardest to see that it does.” Both her hands reached down for Yeul’s then, “Close your eyes. I will need your assistance in this,” she instructed her quietly. If she was to succeed in this, Yeul would have to open her mind and heart up entirely. She had to forget about who and what she was for a while so that Cosmos could sever her from the power Etro had bestowed upon her. It would take a great toll on both of them, but if it would bring Yeul the peace she so desperately sought, it would be worth every bit of effort they’d have to put into this. “Are you ready?” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 856 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: I figured I'd throw some sort of ritual in, because Cosmos going "k, lol" and just removing Etro's eyes would be tragically anti-climatic for something like this, hope it's alright!

Yeul was so relieved of Cosmos’ agreeing that she was strong enough, that she felt a bit weak at the knees. Bowing her head, Yeul battled down the tears that threatened to spill and clasped her hands over her chest. “Thank you…”, she whispered out, not trusting herself to looking up and meeting the eyes of the kind goddess she was now in the company of. She felt as if she would finally get the freedom that she had waited for centuries past. As she waited humbly, Yeul finally got hold of her emotions and peeked up to see how the goddess looked. She looked slightly troubled, which worried Yeul, but she tried to ignore the nagging within her that warned this might not work at all.
And the gentle words of the goddess simply tried to tell her the same thing. Yeul once again felt a bit of fear clutch at her chest, but she pushed the worry aside and courageously gained the gaze of the goddess, slowly nodding her head up and down. She had understood that this goddess might not want to, or might be unable, to help her from the get go. It had really been desperation that had led her to come and attempt to fix it, rather than faith in the beautiful vision of the goddess in front of her. Now that she had met her, Yeul doubted not that she wanted to take her curse away from her, but now came the worry that she would be unable to do so, even if she actually did want to. But as with everything else, Yeul decided to not allow worry to overcome her. What would be would be. If she could not rid herself of this curse, then she would live out her years for the hundreds of years to come as she had the other hundreds of years.
Taking in a deep breath, Yeul held the gaze of the goddess and slowly nodded. “I came to you only because desperation drove me to this point, however, I had no real faith you would have the desire, let alone the ability.”, she mentioned quietly, bowing her head only slightly. “I understand the risks that are involved in such a mission as this, and this seeress would not fault anyone for being unable to remove the curse. If the cycle cannot be broken, then I will allow myself to continue being used as the servant that I have always been.” Yeul said that with a chin that was lifted proudly, ready to take on whatever happened. She had a hope that she could indeed be saved from this fate, but if that didn’t turn out to be the case, then the future will go on as the past always had.
Yeul nodded to Cosmos when she laid a hand on her shoulder, looking up with trusting green eyes. This woman would be able to help if anyone could. So she took a deep breath and then turned her vision toward the ground. “Yes goddess Cosmos, I am ready for whatever happens.” Yes, Yeul was indeed ready for what laid ahead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 705 Muse:; Great! Cosmos was a goddess, and that meant she had powers that most humans could only ever dream of. Still, even her powers knew a limit of what they could do, and she couldn’t deny feeling almost as anxious as Yeul about what she was trying to do here. At least she had explained her position to the girl, that she might not have the strength to help her, and Yeul claimed she understood, which only made Cosmos want to help her more. The thought of this girl living on for hundreds of years, living for a while and then dying, only to be reborn again in a time where all her loved ones had ceased to be… it was just too harsh a fate for anyone to have to suffer, especially someone like the girl before her, who seemed to have a good heart despite all the hardships she’d endured in her many lives. No doubt this would be hard to pull off, but Cosmos had to at least try and fix what the previous goddess had unintentionally ruined. After telling Yeul to close her eyes, Cosmos did the same, and focused purely on the task at hand. Initially, there was only darkness around her, but eventually she could slowly see Yeul appearing before her. Not just one Yeul though… but countless of them, and most of them were staring right at her. These had to be all of her previous lives, the lives who had shared the dream Yeul told her about, and they all wanted to see that dream be fulfilled. No pressure or anything. “Keep your eyes closed, Yeul,” the goddess quickly told the girl before her, not wanting her to get distracted by anything right now. Each of the girls looked almost identical, and yet, they each seemed unique. One of the girls was idly playing with a small flower, another was holding onto a stuffed toy… some had their faces hidden beneath a veil, others wore their hair up, and some looked like the Yeul that was alive today. It was almost overwhelming to look at them, and Cosmos could feel desperation start to set in when even the ones who hadn’t been looking at her before now aimed their glances at her as well. What now? What was she supposed to do? Aside from the Yeul that had come to her for help, all of the other Yeuls were staring at her expectantly, and it made her feel a little lost.
Each face she looked at made her feel worse for not knowing how to fix this problem for them, but then, her eyes suddenly seemed to catch something they hadn’t seen before. It was just another Yeul, but she seemed off somehow… her eyes were glowing in a strange pattern, but otherwise seemed lifeless, and her form seemed almost distorted when compared to the rest. Though the goddess couldn’t be certain, she believed this was the Yeul she was supposed to find, though perhaps it wasn’t another Yeul at all… perhaps this was the manifestation of Etro’s gift, as well as her curse. Cosmos narrowed her eyes some, and as soon as the entity realized she was looking at her – it – whatever it was, it stalked back into the group, trying to hide amongst the many carbon copies of the same girl. “It’s here…” she mumbled, walking over to the real Yeul and placing a hand on her shoulder, “It’s trying to hide, I need you to lead me to it, can you do that?” that entity was also a part of Yeul, so if anyone should be able to find it, it was her, right? “Try to keep your eyes closed, I don’t know if seeing this realm will cause you to lose your connection to it.” A human being had never been to a place like this before, as far as Cosmos knew, so it was better to be safe than sorry, especially since they were so close to completing their goal and freeing Yeul from her curse. “Whenever you’re ready.” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 680 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: I'm just bsing this. Yeul kept her eyes tightly closed, doing exactly what the goddess had told her to do. Even though she had told Cosmos that she understood if this didn’t work out, there was still a part of her that was counting on this. She had so much to lose now. Before…there had been nothing, there had been no reason for her to care if she did live or die. But now that she had tasted it, had seen it right there in front of her, there would be no going back. Either she would become free in life, or she would free herself in death. No life was better than this one, even if she would rather live. But desperately she kept her eyes closed, as if she could simply make this work by following the instructions she had been given.
When it started, Yeul felt as if her energy was draining from her. Desperately she wanted to open her eyes and look, but she kept them closed like Cosmos had told her to. What was she missing? She could feel the others around her. They wanted to be free from this curse as much as she was. All Yeul’s, but each different, unique. She felt as if each of them made up one being, as if each of them were personalities of one. But…wasn’t she the one? Or wasn’t she? Still she kept her eyes closed tightly, almost wanting to cover her eyes with her hands for extra measure. She was terrified and enlightened all at the same time, yet she still felt as if her energy was being drained. She couldn’t explain why she felt that way, but she did.
And then something really struck a chord within her, making her inhale a deep breath sharply, body tensing. She could do this though…she really could. Gritting her teeth stubbornly, Yeul squeezed her eyes closed still, hardly daring to breathe. She didn’t know if this was the right thing to do...but something was happening. Cosmos was accomplishing something. And then…it struck her even more. She was here…the original Yeul. The Yeul that had been started to be raised a normal child, had known what it was like to be normal, but had been chosen. That one, just as she thought herself to be, was different. That Yeul was the first, while she…she was the last.
When Cosmos gave her further instructions, Yeul nodded. Just as she could sense the presence, perhaps so could Cosmos. That Yeul was different in many ways, but perhaps the biggest way, was that, unlike the rest of them, the original Yeul had had great reluctance to fulfill her role, only doing so because she knew that she must. There was a bitterness there. “I…can try, Cosmos.”, she said quietly, before turning her head. In her mind, she could sense her. Reaching out a hand, Yeul took a step in that direction. “Yeul…”, she started softly. “We got lost along the way, show me.”, she begged. As if on que, images were projected from her mind. Images of the original Yeul, first as a child, then different years, and finally, her accepting the gift of Etro. Yeul wasn’t sure what to make of the last bit, but it almost seemed as if Yeul had tried to defy her fate that she had accepted. Her own voice spoke the thoughts of the first Yeul. “I was given a blessing, when misused, became a curse to the rest of you.” Yeul didn’t feel herself quivering, but she was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 788 Muse:; Great! No one said this would be easy, and Cosmos had fully expected to be a little lost when the ritual finally took place, but now that it was actually happening, the goddess wasn’t sure what to do. They were everywhere, copies of the girl she had agreed to help, and they were all looking at her expectantly. Like Yeul, the one she’d met personally, these others also wanted to be freed of what should have been a blessing, but had become a curse instead. Cosmos looked around helplessly, searching for a sign on what to do next. She raked her own mind, her memories, and even the things she’d inherited from Etro when she took the other goddesses throne, but nothing came up. Not yet. Cosmos frowned deeply, but thankfully Yeul had her eyes closed and couldn’t see the concern written on her face right now. If she could, it would only make her feel helpless, and that was the last thing they needed right now. If she was to ever be rid of this curse, Yeul would have to play her part in severing the tie between herself and Etro. How did one sever a tie between a living being and a dead one though? Was there even a way?
The golden haired woman gazed down at the girl next to her, who, despite probably feeling the presence of the other Yeuls, still bravely kept her eyes shut just like Cosmos had told her to. She really wanted this to work, she really wished to be freed of the curse that had tormented her for generations. No matter how long it would take, no matter how many times they had to repeat this ritual in order to get it right, Cosmos wouldn’t give up on trying to free this young woman. She’d suffered enough, and deserved a happy life for once. Everyone deserved to be happy, no matter who and what they were. Yeul’s body tensed, and she gasped some at the very moment Cosmos’s eyes landed on that particularly odd looking clone of hers. If they were both drawn to it so strongly, then that had to be the next step in this ritual. This Yeul had to be the key, but at the same time, it seemed like she didn’t want to be, and before Cosmos could take even a single step in her direction, the girl vanished in the mass once again. “You can do it,” she assured Yeul, gently squeezing her shoulder when she agreed to try and find her other self. If anyone could, it was Yeul. All of these entities were her, in some way, weren’t they? Each of them was unique, yet each of them was the same person. Could Yeul remember all the lives she’d lived? Cosmos could only imagine how hard that must’ve been, if it were the case.
Keeping her hand on Yeul’s shoulder, Cosmos was ready to walk with her as they sought out the one who could help undo this mistake Etro had made so long ago, but they didn’t get far. A sudden rush of images entered the goddesses mind suddenly, making her gasp and instinctively taking a single step away, letting her hand fall off of Yeul’s shoulder for a moment. Not being used to any of this, the images rushed through her mind entirely too quickly to make sense of them. There had been a little girl, and then a slightly older girl accepting the gift of Etro’s eyes… but the rest had seemed more like a motion blur than an actual image. Were those Yeul’s memories she was seeing? Her eyes glanced back down at her own Yeul when she started speaking. Upon seeing her quiver, Cosmos took a step towards her again and placed both hands on her shoulders, squeezing them comfortingly, “It doesn’t have to be that way anymore,” she spoke quietly to no one in particular. With all these watching eyes, it was hard to focus on just one set of them. “You’ve suffered too long already, don’t let it continue on. Sever the bond you made with Etro, and spare this girl the pain you’ve all been forced to endure. Let her finally fulfill the dream you all shared.” Her quiet tone grew stronger with each word she spoke. It felt like she was finally getting somewhere with this, and she wasn’t about to let this moment pass by without trying to do something about it. “Tell me what I can do, and I shall.” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 756 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: Hope this was alright. Despite knowing what was around her, Yeul obediently kept her eyes closed as was her bidding. Did actual sight matter much when you could sense every one of your presence could be felt? Each and every one of the different Yeul's were counting on this as much as she was. Despite them being different, they had all been unified in their desires. Each one had wanted a different future than the one that they had predicted. Really, the bad things they had each seen as the years passed were distressing, to the point that it could be that along with the actual vision that had shortened their lives. She felt for each of them, knowing what each was feeling. She could relate to this, so much that she felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. Still she kept her eyes shut so that she wouldn't see the hopeful looks that mirrored each face.
Except one.
Yeul could sense her presence...the beginning. She saw the images floating through her head, and she knew that it was the certain Yeul. She was the first Yeul, just as she herself was the last. Her words came through Yeul's mouth, filled with regret and sorrow, to say it had been her that had caused the suffering for each of the following. She hardly felt the hands on her shoulders, only able to focus on what was happening between the first Yeul and herself. Finally Yeul opened her eyes, as if some force was telling her to. There before her was the perfect image of herself, a crystal held in the hands of the girl, as if showing her. With a sigh, the first Yeul seemed to hear the words of the blonde and shake her head slightly. "We live with a regret that is as constant as the wind." Yeul herself couldn't help her own curiosity. "Why? If you began to despise the task..." Though the same being in image, this one obviously didn't have the same thinking.
"I was a servant borne from need, not desire, and finally I could no longer take what was to come. I revolted within myself, and Etro knew...we could never hide from her searching eyes. I never should have done so...for after that she added more to the blessing. Before my revolt, our lives wouldn't be shortened nearly as much, but then...it was never the same." She seemed to think about the words of Cosmos for a moment after she got done speaking her piece. "I do not wish for the rest to have to go through what I did...and without the searching vision of Etro...it might be possible for this to finally be over.", she commented, looking down at her crystal. "I was given this...a key, she said, but I only just realized what it can be used for."
The image of herself handed the crystal toward the goddess. "It took a goddess to give the blessing, and it will take equal measure to take away the curse.", the image of herself said softly, before lifting her hands in front of her, the crystal cupped in them. “With your help, we can finish what I started so long ago.” Yeul watched as her image took a deep breath and continued. “The rest of us will finally be laid to rest, and you…you may live for each of us, to fulfill the vision.” Yeul dropped her own eyes down when her image handed the goddess her crystal, nodding her head solemnly. “You need to take away the curse, and with it, we shall go.” The image touched Yeul's arm, inserting a vision of what needed to be done, the words coming from her mouth in the form of a specific set of words.

This was… a very strange experience indeed. Standing here, in front of countless young women who all shared the same face and looked at her so expectantly, it was very strange to see, and it put a lot more pressure on the goddesses shoulders. Having seen the vision for herself and having been unable to make much sense of it, Cosmos really couldn’t imagine what it had to be like to have these visions each and every day, perhaps multiple times each day. It would drive any normal person insane, or so she believed. But then, maybe if they started at a young age, you’d grow used to them eventually. That had to be it, because for all the visions each of these girls had endured, they didn’t seem like they’d cracked and gone insane. They each had to be remarkably strong willed to endure this curse for as long as they had.
As the two Yeuls, the first and the last, spoke with one another, the only thing Cosmos could do was stand and watch quietly, occasionally throwing in some words of her own, but keeping mostly to herself, not wanting to interrupt their meeting. To be honest, she wasn’t quite sure what to say to either of them right now. They both seemed so sad, no… they all seemed sad, but hopeful. Hopeful that Cosmos could undo what had been done centuries ago, and grant the last of their kind a normal life. She wanted to do that, but there was doubt in the back of her mind. What if she plain and simply didn’t have the power to do this? It had been another goddess of equal if not greater strength than herself that had granted this gift in the first place, could she really override Etro’s will and force her own into this matter? Her gaze slowly casted to the floor as the girls continued to talk. Talk about how they’d never wanted the gift of sight, and how they’d tried to revolt against their own powers, and how Etro had punished them for doing so. It was a cruel tale, and it made the goddess of harmony feel even worse than she was already feeling. How could anyone do something like this to an innocent girl? Had they no compassion? …no, most gods and goddesses really didn’t possess human emotions such as those.
Her attention was drawn back entirely to the first Yeul when she held up a crystal before her, offering it to her with the same plea the last Yeul had posed her with, although this one had been phrased differently, it came down to the same thing. Hesitantly, Cosmos reached past the last Yeul and grasped the crystal in her hands, looking down at it curiously before looking back at the Yeul that had given it to her. “You will all… disappear, if we do this. Will you not?” Cosmos remarked with a saddened expression, her eyes gazing at all the young faces looking right back at her. It seemed almost cruel to erase all of them, but… if this was something they all wanted, who was she to object? “Rest in peace, Yeul…” she told all but one of them before pressing the crystal close to her chest and closing her eyes as she slowly began to repeat the words she was given, one by one. The crystal started to glow, and with each word she uttered, it felt like some of the presences nearby faded away. It made her feel sad, and hollow, but she continued nevertheless. They had all asked her to do this, she couldn’t let her own feelings of guilt stand in the way now that she was so close to fulfilling the promise she’d made to the young lady that had approached her, pleading with her to be set free and live a normal life. Another string of words followed, and again, Cosmos repeated them quietly, still not quite ready to open her eyes and see what was happening around her. Hopefully Yeul could handle seeing all of the fade away, because surely it couldn’t be easy seeing your former lives disappear as though they’d never existed in the first place.
A silence fell, and, thinking the ritual had ended, Cosmos opened her eyes once again to look around. It was like she’d expected, all of the Yeuls had faded away, all but… two? The first and last were the only ones to remain, had the first changed her mind in the end? But with her here, Yeul would never be able to be truly freed, would she? Cosmos was about to say something when the first Yeul smiled, and finally spoke her last words – the words that meant the end of her. Biting her lip, but keeping her eyes open this time, Cosmos repeated the final words, and watched as the first Yeul – now the last – slowly started to fade away. It was done. They were all gone. Yeul was… alone now. Taking a step towards the girl, Cosmos placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, “Are you… alright?” she asked quietly, but when she stepped too close to the girl, the crystal in her hand suddenly just disappeared with a spark of light, making the goddess gasp lightly. Not a second later, a faint glow surrounded Yeul, but it died out just as fast as it had appeared. Cosmos wasn’t sure what it meant, but then, maybe the only person who’d truly understood this crystal had been the Yeul that had given it to her, and she wasn’t around to answer any questions anymore. It didn’t matter either way, so long as Yeul was freed of her curse, that was all that mattered in the end. The darkness around them faded as well, and replacing it was none other than Etro’s throne, where they’d been standing when all of this started. “I think it’s over now.” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Words: 992 Tagged: Yeul Location: Valhalla Outfit: Regular Notes: We can probably end this with 1 or 2 posts, since the ritual be done.

Yeul watched as the vision of herself addressed the goddess Cosmos. She felt a connection with each of the other Yeul’s, as they each stood there and watched the two of them expectantly. She knew that to them, their only hope was that they would be able to be laid to rest and that the last Yeul would get to live the life that none of them had been able to. Each put their faith that their last image could do this for them, with the help of the goddess. They deserved to be laid to rest finally. It was going to be hard for her to watch them disappear, but Yeul knew that it was the right thing to do. Bowing her head lightly, she realized what it meant, the significance of the crystal being handed to Cosmos, and a sad little smile became apparent on her lips. These were the lives of so many young women that had been cut short and ruined…because of the need to step up and accomplish something great. What kind of a reward was that? When Cosmos questioned it, Yeul just raised her head. “Rest well Yeuls.”, she commented softly, while the crystal was passed between the two women.
“We will, but even that is a reward to us. We face this decision unitedly.”, she said firmly, before stepping back and taking the hand of another Yeul. One by one, the line was passed down, until each was holding the hand of another, firm and resolved to do this and grant their last copy the happiness they all sought. “Live for us,” she commented, directly looking at Yeul. “Fulfill the vision.” Yeul found herself nodding, before she gazed at each of them, looking so serene while they waited for their own rest to occur. She found herself smiling at them sadly. “I will.”, she whispered, wanting to reach a hand out to clasp Yeul’s free hand and be with them a moment longer. Despite that she kept her stance and didn’t move forward.
Yeul lifted her chin as each of the Yeul’s started to disappear. She could hear the words repeated, but she simply watched as they all disappeared before her eyes. Yet as each of them went, they waved, and had a serene smile on their faces. This…this must be alright for them. Finally they were just down to the first Yeul, who had to smile widely at them, her eyes finally losing the haunted look they had had before. “Thank you.”, she said lightly, before she disappeared, her hand up in the form of a goodbye. Yeul was smiling, even though a few tears slid down her cheeks.
Yeul barely realized that it was done until the hand on her shoulder alerted her, as well as the voice. She turned her face toward the goddess, unashamed of her tears, before noticing the crystal disappear. Instantly Yeul felt different, her eyes glancing down to see her own skin glowing. Smiling lightly, Yeul raised her eyes to Cosmos and nodded. “It’s done…thank you.”, she said earnestly, “There’s no words to tell you-…” A second later they were by Etro’s throne. Yeul laid a hand on it gently, before turning and looking back at Cosmos. “I shall return, but always will I think of you and what you’ve done for us.”, she said gently, before she started to glow again, disappearing from Valhalla to return back to Gran Pulse. It was done…
