Moving up the path, Kain gripped at his lance with his right hand, as a slight tingle shot up his arm. He shot a glance at his arm, but did not think anything of it as he kept walking. Skeiron was back in the cavern where he stayed for breaks and such, and when he was not needed. The dragon was becoming more and more understanding and was getting well trained. But he figured it was time for a break for him, and a wakeup call for himself. Lacking on necessary training was not something that Kain did often, but with him being wounded for the past few weeks it was not easy when you had bleed out, almost. With a shake of his head, he came to his destination, knowing very well that Constance would not be there yet. It was a small field outside of Baron. There stood an empty single story house, from the looks of the place it had been there for years with no occupants. He wondered why that was? It was really not a bad place, but he did not concern himself with this fact.
His meeting with Edge and Rosa had gone fairly well, all things considering. The drinking for the most part had been kept under control, by Rosa of course. Then showed up Constance, to which Edge had more than politely asked her to join him, and she had. Kain did not mind it so much, if gave for a better conversation on the matter at hand even after settling Edge’s mind about Rydia. All the pressing matters on this planet, and that one had to be worst. Edge could only sit by and watch things happen to her that he did not want her to go through. Not saying that Kain wanted her to go through it, and yes he wished that there was a way around it, but it was even then hard to think of one. He had never been so mind boggled in his entire life about such a thing, it had happened none the less. Thinking at one point he was just as frustrated with the situation as Edge was. With a shake of his head he moved around the field, pulling his lance up and back down. He gave a firm nod and then stuck the lance in the ground, pulling from his belt a mere sword. He had not used one in years.
His mind then went into a zone. He was clear from thought as he moved with the sword. Beaming with that confidence it was obvious to the open eye. He had not been thinking about what he had done in the past, nor thinking about what he was going to do in the future, Kain Highwind was ready to move on. That tingle came back to his lance arm, but again he did not think about it all that much, but he had a small idea, he just did not want to face it just now. He kept on moving with the weapon as if nothing else was around him, nothing to bother him, and free from that worry. Not wanting to make the mistakes he had made in the past again, wanting to a better future for himself and those around him. He might have been the most socially active guy out there, but he was sure that his friends would come out of everything and in a good way. He had cared for them, even if he did not show it at times.
Bringing the sword up in front of him and then back down again in a smooth motion he started a action of movements. He clearly needed some refreshment but that was what this session was for. He had used a lance for so long that he had lost his way with the sword, but by the unknowing eye he seemed pretty good with it. Pushing forward with the sword he then stopped doing twirling motions with his wrist, as it kept moving it began to get faster, keeping his balance as he moved forward, crossing the sword in figure eights in front of him. Moving closer to the edge of the field, Kain darted up a tree, emerging from the top as he jumped from it then, his weight balanced again in the air, moving fast to the ground, bringing his arms above his head and preparing his legs for the hit. Landing on both feet just in front of his lance his right arm out from him and his left just behind him. “Humm.” He replied to the attack as he continued to twirl the sword in his hand, still getting the feel for it again. Moving then back to his lance, pulling his helmet off he let it hang from the other end of the lance then pushing back his hair, leaning up against the near wall of the house he waited.

Constance was already beginning to change as a person. She’d learned already that the world was a very unkind place if you didn’t have the guts to stand up for yourself, but she also learned that not every stranger was horrible. Having been saved – yes, saved – along the path from Kaipo to Mist, Constance had ran into Kain Highwind, she was very grateful and didn’t have many high hopes on seeing him again, she had her own schedule to work around, but the idea of having a sparring partner had really caught her attention, still, she couldn’t dilly dally around and waste any time. Still, Connie desperately needed help with her fighting skills. She knew her way around many dual wielding weapons, she knew how to swing them and what not, but applying them in battle was not her forte. She had a very soft heart, as soft as a marshmallow, she dare not harm a fly, but there was a time for compassion and understanding, and there was a time to fight for your life, she needed to be able to switch between the two without feeling completely guilty, hopefully Kain could help her with that.
Slowly trotting her way around some of the southern fields of Baron, Constance took in the scenery, it was nice out here, a much bigger kingdom than what she was used to, but now she knew what all the buzz was about for being out here. Still, this area she was to be meeting Kain was more remote, something she liked a bit better. Not too out in the middle of nowhere, but you weren’t crowded around many people, it was quiet and peaceful…she could spend a lot of her days out here if she wanted too. It also made for a good place to train if one wanted to learn how to apply skills in battle. With a small smile on her face, she started to think back towards the actual town located in Baron where she had stayed for a short time, she’d met Kain’s friends at a tavern, which she hadn’t expected to see him, but she was nice and polite as usual, his friends were rather pleasant. Edge was nice, though Constance had given him a few odd looks, she was sure he got them a few times from the ladies as it was, and then the beautiful queen of Baron, Rosa…she was very nice as well.
It was nice to have been invited to sit with them, instead of wandering around in some tavern by herself, Constance was grateful and tried to bestow as many thanks as possible, hopefully she got to see those two again, they were already labeled as nice and friendly people in her book, and besides, the more people you knew outside of Kaipo, the better. Should Constance ever be in Eblan, she’d surely try to track down Edge to give a greeting at least, and Rosa…Constance wasn’t sure where to begin, she was thankful the blonde was home safe and sound, and she was happy for her husband as well, but still, she had a task to do still…but for now, dilly dallying would have to have come sooner or later. Kain would be helping Constance with her fighting a bit, and she’d be sure to listen completely, he of course had more experience in the field than she, a simple almost farm-girl from Kaipo. Smiling at the thought, she chided herself not to laugh out loud. “Everything will go well, just…remember to be brave.”
Picking up her pace and judging by where the sun was in the sky, Constance knew she was starting to run a bit late. Having left Rio at a stable in Baron for the day, she knew walking would’ve taken a longer time, but still, she made it in good time, coming up behind Kain but keeping her distance as she watched him working with a sword. She’d seen him deal with his lance, especially when he took care of those bandits for her, but she didn’t know he knew his way around a typical sword. Smiling at the sight though, she felt the weight of the two twin blades on her back as she folded her arms and just watched for a few moments, completely impressed and never imagining herself being able to do anything like that. She just wanted to be able to dodge and get a few good strikes in with ease, instead of feeling like a scared child. She needed to apply these skills she knew to good use. As Kain leaned back against the wall of a small house, Constance then walked up, making her voice a bit louder than she usually was, seeming more outgoing and less shy than at first. “I knew I’d be picking up a few tips and hints from someone with skills, but don’t try and expect me to do anything like that, Kain.” She laughed a little at the end of her statement, as she walked up, not having meant to creep or anything, but what else was she supposed to do? Especially when the view and actions were worth admiring.
“Hello Kain, I do appreciate once again what you’re doing for me. I hope I can pick up some good advice from you while we’re out here.” Constance beamed with her bright hazel eyes sparkling with happiness, she hadn’t felt so good in a long time, not since before the disappearance of her father and brother, what was making her so happy? Maybe it was the idea of having friends again, instead of being just an isolated woman in a small town. Pulling one blade from her back where it had been holstered, she ran her free hand across the blunt end of the blade. “What do you suggest we start with first?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1091 Muse: Fantastic! Kain scoffed at her words to him as he pushed himself from the wall, “Are you sure?” He asked as he turned to face her. The likelihood of her walking away with one or two more proficiencies was high, but a mastery in them, no. She would have to keep at it, and he figured that she knew that but he would mention it anyway, “Once we leave this field today, you will have to keep up the training.” He said to her with a small nod of his head. “It will take longer than this one session.” Pausing then as she thanked him he responded with a shake of his head looking at her, “Again, it’s not a problem.” And to him it truly wasn’t, with all of the things that he could have been doing, it was the least of his concerns. ‘But he should have known better’ He then stepped up to her then as she asked what it was that they would be working with first. Taking the one blade she had retrieved from her back, he also reached around her to take away the other one that was sitting there. He had never really been interesting in working with two weapons at one time, but knew very well what the gist was.
Because it of course was not a natural dragoon trait to be duel wielding, it was more of a ninja art, something that Edge was very knowledgeable about. But he did not need the assistance of the King today. Stepping away from her, both swords in his hands he began to move with them, wrists bending with the weight of the swords instead of against it. He spoke as he moved, “They work well together. Same weight, same hilt and balanced. Good choice.” He to her with a nod of his head as he then sharply brought both of them out away from him and then back together in the front, “But you won’t be working with them today.” He said to her with a pause, “I will.” He said following up with a glance to her. He wanted her to start out with something that she knew nothing about, it was easier to train this way, and he would tell her so. “Reason being, you know mostly how they work together. If you start with something new, you will have the full learning experience.” With that been said he walked over to the sword that was stuck in the ground plucking it from the dirt he handed it to her.
Of course the reason he was using her blades was that if she was smart enough she would be able to predict his moves. Kain knew this because anyone he had ever fought that wielded a lance, he was able to pick out the moves that they would make, thus being able to prepare a counter attack ahead of time. The Dragoon took about twenty paces away from her, to give her more room. And letting his last thoughts not come from his mouth, he wanted to see if she was able to pick up on that on her own. Moving the swords in circles as he had his back turned to her, hearing the wind around then as he moved forward. Finally turning back to face her he took a stance, pulling one leg out behind him and the other slightly more out in front his body, one sword pointed in her direction and the other pointing behind him. He bent his knees slightly. “I have reasoning behind not showing you how to hold the sword or even how to bring it into action.” He said to her with a pause still in his stance, "The more one does on their own the easier it is for them to understand with little guidance. Me being the guidance.” It was odd for him to be the teacher, he just found it ironic on a ton of levels. “First spar, you shall be the attacker and I will be the defender.” He told her.
A smirk then appeared on his un-masked face as he looked to her, he then turned the sword that was out in front of him to where his palm was facing up and he made a come and get me motion with his fingers. The universal sign for bring it on.

Ha! Watching Kain really made Constance feel like she knew absolutely nothing as to the battle field. She shook her head in disbelief as she had made her appearance known to Kain, smiling slightly and just giving him a look, she wasn’t going to be leaping off any trees or doing anything quite as majestic, shaking her head slightly up and down, she gave him a solid answer. “I’m absolutely positive.” She left it at that, listening to him and nodding to show she understood what he meant. This was not a onetime deal. She’d get some tips and hints out of this, but the rest was really up to her, she’d keep practicing, and with the roads as bad as they seemed these days, targets would come to her, she didn’t need to wander around looking for trouble, as it seemed, trouble had a pretty good way of finding Connie first. “Yes, I understand that. Don’t worry, I’ll have ample time to practice.”
When Kain walked over, taking her weapons away, Constance raised one of her eyebrows, about to ask what it was he was doing but soon she began to catch on. She was by no means stupid, she caught onto things rather quickly, and this…this was one of those moments. “Hmm.” She simply mumbled out as she folded her arms, watching him move away from her and twist the swords around. They were evenly balanced weapons, the same weight and style, complete replicas of one another, not a single difference was able to be noticed between the two, that’s what Connie liked, she didn’t have to worry about having the wrong weapon in the wrong hand. It made being both dominant with her right and left hand kind of nice, able to put that into her battles, it was interesting. Many people fought with one, this just gave her a quick advantage, double strikes, quick slashes, it was a nice thought…but first she had to get adjusted to the battlefield in general, that’s where Kain came in. “Okay, if you insist.” She shrugged, letting it go rather quickly and just waiting, she’d be fighting with something she wasn’t as confident with, but she’d been around single handed weapons all her life, not that she showed any interest in them even back in her younger days as a child.
This would be a challenge no matter what weapon she used. Kain was probably a thousand times more skilled than she was with just about anything when it came to fighting, which is why she kept her mind open, her voice silent and her optimism ready to continue this lesson, whatever it would turn out to be. Gripping the one handed weapon in her hand, she gripped it tightly, looking at the blade up and down as if she were inspecting it. She was no stranger to weapons, so at least she knew how to hold it properly, though putting it into battle was another thing. It was the simple things that proved to be more complex than the rather difficult things. Oh well, this was a learning experience after all. After inspecting the blade, Connie looked back up to notice Kain had moved away and it seemed they were ready for training. She shifted her weight around, resting most of her bodyweight on her right leg which was back further than the left, her sword in her right hand as she listened even more, ready to get started.
So, she would be the attacker, best make use of that opportunity and try her best to avoid anything he threw back at her. Hell, Constance knew it would be damn near impossible to get a strike in – not that she would ever hurt him anyway, or even get that opportunity – but it’d be nice to prove to be a bigger struggle than just a random person who had no idea how to work a weapon. Nope, she’d prove herself better than that, she had to, at least by the end of this session she did. “Alright, you asked for it.” She said almost in a mock warning tone, a small smirk on her lips as she narrowed her eyes and then rushed forward, quick on her feet, going for the most predictable direct approach wouldn’t suffice. As she got close enough to strike, she spun to the side, ready to let the blade fly and try to connect with either a parry or a dodged move.
Let the battles begin. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 858 Muse: Pretty dang good! Tagged: Kain Wearing: you know which one! Listening To: Nothing Notes: Hope this was okay!

“Good.”
He replied to her saying that she would continue it. That was how one learned by continuing to train everyday afterward. As hard as it might be, he trusted that she would if she was serious, and if not then he had today’s training anyways. As he talked through what they would be doing he walked away from her a good distance and motioned to her.
Feeling that tingle up his arm again he moved his neck back and forward to relax. Feeling something was off but he ignored it. Thinking he could get through it. Pushing everything out of his mind as he then focused in on the training. Of course that was all that he had to think about. But back in the dark of his thoughts there stood Rosa. The thought of what all he had done to her, what all he had put her though. He had finally come to realize that he was not worth her time anymore. She had moved onto better things, and he was glad for that.
Watching as she moved in on him, the way she was leaning, the way she held herself, but she was in too much of a hurry. Kain in turn pulled himself around the same way she went, as he moved in with the left sword. Letting the metal clash against one another he moved it around in his arm around in a circle, deflecting her attack. He would not attack right now, he was watching her. “Think about your attacks. Know what you are going to do well before you do it.” He said as he moved to her left dodging another attack. He did not think it would be this easy to train someone; of course it might have made it a lot harder had she not been listening at all. But he thought something different with her; she listened and watched, paying full attention to what he was saying and what he was doing. As they danced about the field, the three blades crossing one another, he could tell that she was picking up on things. The more she did with her attacks, the more he was impressed. Bending back as she did a swipe at him he quickly regained motion as she moved again. “Well done.” He paused to say as she brought the sword down on him again, he brought up the twin blades to block again.
Stopping suddenly Kain bent to one knee, as he bowed to her with one blade horizontal to him and the behind him, that signal would be to call the spar. “Are you sure you have not had training before?” He asked her as he then stood up. Breathing slightly heavy but not to notice. “Because I have never seen anyone pick up so quick on things.” He said to her, and that of course was a compliment. “Just remember, don’t show mercy of any kind, because they will show you none. If one is out to kill, that is the only thing on their mind. And they intend to succeed.” He told her a firm look about his face as he moved away from her again. “This time I will be the attacker.” He explained with a roll of his shoulders. “The idea here is for you to think on your feet. Move quicker when you are being attacked, prepare yourself for the worst of the attack.” Sticking one of the blades in the ground next to the lance he turned back to face her again. “Notice weak points in your attacker, don’t let up on your guard.” He said her with a nod of his head, “Understand?” He questioned.
Kain gripped at the blade with his left hand as he lost his previous stance, now not really having one at all. Using now all his effort to push those weakening thoughts out of his mind. He did not want her to be able to tell what he would be doing, thus not giving any signal at all. With a quick motion to his lance with his right hand he pulled it from the ground and hurled it at her. Though with it being his right hand that he had used to launch it he knew it would rather be off. That was what he was aiming for. Of course he did not want to kill her. As it was in flight he then moved in on her no second thought with the sword of hers in his left, his right free to do as it pleased.

It was time for training, Connie was the attacker, and she’d give it her all. Of course, whatever advice Kain wanted to throw her way would be much appreciated. She’d take it with open arms and hopefully work on whatever criticisms he had for her. Never before had Constance actually trained with someone, she might’ve watched someone else train, but never was she the one to practice. Then again, it was still difficult to believe she was away from Kaipo, taking matters into her own hands, slowly she was starting to get used to it though.
Rushing forward, Constance didn’t want to come off as knowing nothing, moving around instead of leaping for the direct approach, she pushed herself to move as fast as her legs would take her, but hearing the clash of metal against metal, she had been defeated on that attack, his words were mentally noted and she nodded, taking them in and starting on a clean slate, sort of. Swinging her arm with only one hand on the sword this time, she watched as Kain dodged that one as well, almost sending her stumbling due to the force she put behind the swing. She watched the dragoon, trying to set up a game plan in her mind, what attacks she should make, and predicting how he would try to dodge them, it was difficult, but if you played your cards right, a strike might settle into place. She moved quickly, going for strike after strike, trying things differently, whether it be to try and come from the side, or leaping to strike down at him, all her attacks had been deflected, and even though she wasn’t doing much of anything successfully, she had to admit, this was fun, it was helping her and as she watched Kain, she tried to figure out how he was dodging everything, he really had experience in the field. Not only was this helping her think of a strategy, it was building her physical strength as well.
With each swing and attempt at a strike, Constance felt herself get ever so closer to a success, there was progress as she tried to predict Kain’s moves while planning her own, she swung the sword once more, planting her feet firmly on the ground before bringing it up and down on the blades Kain had taken from her. With a bit of a frustrated look on her face, she mustered a small smile. “Thanks.” She mumbled out as she stepped back, watching as Kain motioned for this part of the spar to be done with. With a few heaving breaths, Connie ran a hand through her hair, moving her bangs off to the side and placing one hand on her hip, feeling rather successful, a little more informed on strategy from an offensive point of view, that was always nice. It wasn’t always about protecting yourself these days, dealing damage was just as important, especially if you were facing someone who was trying to kill you. It was best to rid of them before they rid of you.
“I used to sit around and watch while my brother trained, he was a mercenary…and my father actually built weapons, so…I guess you could say I have some background knowledge on things.” Constance was happy for the praise, she generally was a fast learner, especially since she listened and took in every detail of things instead of acting arrogant, cocky, or even complacent with herself. There was always room for improvement, and taking the knowledge from others was the best way to start. Now…the tables would turn. Constance felt her muscles tense up a bit, having Kain attack her…it didn’t sound pleasant, but she knew that this was just training, he wouldn’t purposely try to get a hit on her, she just needed to think quick, like he said, move quick on her feet and prepare for the worst. “Yes, I understand.” Getting her mindset back, she tightened her grip on the sword in her hand and shifted her stance, bouncing on the balls of her feet, waiting. That was the worst part, waiting.
The lance had been thrown, quickly too. Constance did the first thing that came to mind, that was to duck, and she ducked low. Pressing her free hand against the ground as one knee was also pressed against the ground, she kept her balance, keeping low as the lance passed overhead, and once it was gone, she leaped back up to her feet, watching the oncoming Kain. Her eyes were watching carefully, quickly trying to figure out what attack would come next, she raised the blade in her hand defensively in front of her, pressing her free hand against the blunt side, she was ready to move or block, pretty much the only things she figured she’d need to do. It all came down to spur of the moment decisions didn’t it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 913 Muse: Great! Letting loose Abel’s Lance in her direction and watched as he darted forward when she ducked. He had to admit, she was a fast learner, even in cases when he dropped his game a little. Moving to his right as he swung the sword at her again. Settling there in the darks of Kain’s mind, the control grew bigger. That feeling of being controlled again, of being powerless, it was almost unbearable. Within in minutes of the session Kain felt it starting to take possession of his mind, and he did not even know what it was that sparked it. When he had fought Edge at the base of the mountain he had lost then, but he was not going to lose this time. Taking in a breath as he continued to cross his sword with hers, he moved a bit faster now. Inside he was almost fighting with himself.
‘Back off Kain Highwind.’
‘Can’t take the heat, she is going rip you apart.’
‘She is not the one you want, go back to Rosa.’
Sending him into overdrive, Kain moved around the girl faster, bringing his sword up to block her attacks with ease, and doing some of his own in the process. Feeling a little darker now, but no, he was not going to do this. Pushing back the sadistic thoughts, but hard as he may try they were winning. Gritting his teeth he eyes and the look on his face changed from the pleasant one that she had just seen to something more harsh. But Kain was still there. He had vowed to destroy this part of him, and move on. Dipping into those thoughts, Cecil the brother he had always loved unconditionally. He respected the King of Baron, and his wife, Rosa. He had once confessed to her his love for her, saying that Cecil was not the one she wanted to be with.
Moving quicker, Kain had managed to moved them closer to the small abandoned house. No matter how he had acted to her, she matched his sword by blocking with her own. He was becoming reckless. But overall his strength prevailed. His breathing heavy as he had her pinned against a wall of the house and himself, she was not going anywhere. The swords in between the two of them as he stared at her.
‘Do it Kain, its that easy.’
‘Make it painless.’
Still staring at her, his arms pushed his sword closer to her. His feet spread apart as his upper body shook, but he still had the upper hand. Gritting his teeth more, if she said anything at all, he did not hear it, yet at least. But as the seconds passed, the darker tone in his eyes were slowly leaving, but he still had her pinned. He spoke then, “Why did you agree to this?” He asked, but it was a question. His head was pounding causing tears to come to his eyes, he was fighting it.
‘Do it already.’
His next comment was a single one, and he was sure that it may have blown out her eardrum, and he was talking to himself, “NO!” he practically yelled in her face, as he pulled himself away from her the swords sliding apart. Raring back his sword arm he let the sword fly though the nearest window, with a loud shatter of glass it continued on until it buried itself in the wall on the inside. Kain stepped away again grabbing at his head. He bent over to a knee, “Not again. Not this time.” He then let out an ear splitting scream that made the birds move from their nests. All the while he stood up his arms out, hands balled up into fits as if he were yelling at the gods above. Once his fit was cleared from his system all he could do was bend down to a knee again. Not saying anything he moved his hands to his head again, the pounding head was now calming down.

This was becoming a great work out. Constance could feel her muscles burning already, her knowledge about fighting was increasing and she was getting in better shape for things like this. She felt a small confident smile on her lips as things kept up at a quick pace. A strike here, a dodge there, it was a perfect spar for a learning woman like Connie. She didn’t really notice as things started to pick up pace, she simply tried to match Kain’s speed, a few wrong twists of her ankles and slips, but she was doing okay. A few close calls as well, but the adrenaline and need to survive simply kept her moving faster, parrying attacks and doing her best to either move out of the way or try to counter them as best as she could. She was focusing more on the attacks and movements rather than the difficulty, she wasn’t looking at the big picture, and that was going to be a problem.
A few moments later, there was a great increase in difficulty for Constance. She was having a hard time keeping up, having more close calls, it was too close for comfort really. Leaping out of the way of an attack, Constance twisted her ankle having not landed on it correctly and instantly felt the muscles and tendons in her ankle hurt. Moving back to her feet and stepping back putting little weight on her left foot which she had twisted, she panted heavily, pressing her free hand against her knee as she gaze at Kain, something...just something was different, she couldn’t quite place her finger on it, but there was a change she had yet to notice. “Maybe we should take a break-“ but he came at her again, causing her to dodge another attack, seeing the difference in his fighting…it was more aggressive, less…controlled. He was fast, and with Constance not being as advanced on the battle field as he was, she would be easily defeated, and that concerned her.
Gritting her teeth, she leaped backwards, back towards the small abandoned home, but putting so much pressure on her hurt ankle caused her knee to buckle for a moment. Rising up to her full height, she quickly drew up the sword, pressing her hand against the blunt side of the blade and feeling her back press into the wall of the home behind her. Her hands were shaking, as well as her arms, trying to force her strength against Kain’s, but little by little, the swords that were there started easing in her direction. “Kain…what are you doing?” she said a bit strained as she heaved in a huge breath, still putting all of her strength behind her blade, not gaining any ground in the process. Why did she agree to this? Well she would’ve answered, but she was partly holding her breath, her strength starting to give out, the blades inching closer to her face, her eyes staring at Kain’s face and trying to figure out what the hell was going on. He’d seemed so nice before. “Kain…stop.”
When he finally decided it was time to speak up again, it nearly left a ringing sound in her ears, and the strength she had been applying to the parrying blade had made her nearly fling herself forward, but she stumbled and dropped, the blade stabbing into the ground as she rested her palms on the grass beneath her. Since she’d been holding her breath, she took in a few deep breaths and exhaled just as deep before lifting her head and looking over at Kain, a pained and worried look on her face as she wasn’t sure what was going on. All she knew was that Kain was in pain or something, she wanted to ask what was wrong, but because he was throwing what seemed to be like a fit…she decided it was best to remain silent, until he calmed down. Rising to her feet, she hesitantly walked over towards the kneeling dragoon, reaching out a hand carefully to touch his shoulder, she pulled her free hand to her chest in a tight fist, just because she was slightly afraid. “Kain? Are you…okay?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 800 Muse: Great! Tagged: Kain Wearing: Look at sig! Listening To: Stuffs! Notes: SO MUCH MUSE!

Gripping at the handle on the sword he pushed at his sword harder. But he did hear her speak that last time. The power of words not of his own. Noticing the pain in her voice, it reminded him of something but he was just not able to put his finger on it. As he yelled at her, though more to himself actually it was to himself, he dropped his flank on her and backed off, sending the sword through the window. Kain’s body temperature must have raised fifteen degrees in a small amount of time and then rapidly dropped back down again, sweat rolling from his face. Kain would not fall victim to this again, he had vowed to Cecil that this would be a thing of the past. He had also promised Rosa, and that was something that he held close to him. Those he wished not to hurt, either physically or emotionally. Even at the woman who was here now, witnessing this part of him, something he did not want her to see, but it was a part of his life, or it had been rather. If something were to ever test him again, it would have to be powerful, but he was currently paying for it.
Slightly jumping when she placed a hand on his shoulder, he looked up at her. Admitting a part of him was flawed was difficult for him. Pride was something that he held close, and confidence was running a close race. Speaking in his normal voice to answer her question at hand, “Now.” he said with a shake of his head looking back down to his hands. “It’s rather complicated.” He said with a breath. He stood up nodding to her as he went to look at the window that he had broke. Hopping through the window he walked over to where the sword was planted in the wall. Taking a grip on the handle he pulled it free from the clutches of the wood. Not paying attention to the house he hopped back out the window walking back to Constance. He held the sword out to her, “I know an apology won’t suffice, so how about the cause?” He asked with a shake of his head.
“If I never knew anything before that happened, I know one thing now. It will not happen again.” He said to her with a shake of his head. “A while back I was, what is the word?” He asked more to himself than anyone, “Possessed, if that is even the proper word for it. But I was susceptible weak mind at the time.” He told her as he opened up his own bag that he had brought. He retrieved a pouch of water from it and handed it to her. If she was strong enough to actually come to face him once that was said and done, it was enough for him. “My friends that you met, they know first hand what it is like to be betrayed by one of their own. I used them to get what I needed. It is hard thing to gain, trust that is.” He said to her looking back inside his bag then, Pulling out from it a wrap of sorts, he nodded to a tree stump, “Let me look at it?” He said referring to her ankle, “If not I understand.” He said to her still holding the wrap. “But I feel that you should know, now being a victim. What you just witnessed was me fighting that dark entity. The whole battle with oneself. I never really understood it until now.” He said as he looked to her, “The mind can be a fragile thing, something that you need to make strong. I think today, I have accomplished that.” Kain said to her with a small smile atop his face, but he would give her an apology anyway, “I am sorry, that you had to witness that, much less be involved. I just had not expected it to turn out that way.”

This wasn’t what Constance had expected, in fact, she was downright oblivious at first, just thinking he was starting to pick up the pace to try and test her, but when her idea of taking a break hadn’t been acknowledged, only countered with another attack, she knew something was going wrong. Nothing could answer her question, why? Why would Kain just fly at her and start attacking like that? He knew she was an amateur with this kind of thing, you’d think he’d have some sense as to what she could and could not handle. With the attacks ceasing, letting her stop fighting against a strength far greater than her own, Constance just heaved in breaths and exhaled as well, her eyes gazing at the grass as she clutched her hands into tight fists, taking a moment to relax before looking up at Kain and trying to figure out what was wrong. She was genuinely concerned, seeing the change in his behavior again…he had calmed down, that was good.
Being her kind hearted self, Connie rose to her feet and hesitantly had approached him, a hand on his shoulder which she quickly retracted back to herself when he jumped, as if she’d been burned, but really, she was just trying to look for any signs of that crazy spell he had just had. When Kain spoke, she felt a small wave of relief wash over her, letting her shoulders relax and her arms fall to her sides as she took a step back, giving him some space as he rose to his own feet. Still having her hands together, she didn’t say much, just gave him a few blank stares. If anything, she was speechless, unable to find the words to say. She wasn’t demanding an apology or anything, nor was she wanting an explanation, well…okay that was a lie, the latter she would gladly take, but she wasn’t going to force anything out of him. She was probably just too startled by it all to muster up the words to demand an apology. If Connie had been in her right mind, she was sure a good smack to the face would’ve sufficed, but nothing of that sort ever came from the brunette.
Watching the dragoon hop into the house and hop back out with one of her trishula weapons, she gripped it loosely in her hand before putting it back on the holster on her back, the other trishula was just a few yards away, but Constance made no attempt to retrieve it just yet. “Okay.” She simply spoke, still unable to form complete sentences really. She listened intensively, trying to imagine it all and understand what it was that happened. This was the explanation she had longed for, and now that she was getting it, Connie felt a bit sorry, a bit bad, and of course she’d forgive him for it. Though it may have been a bit of a bad choice to forgive so easily, but the words he spoke seemed to be the truth, how could she hold a grudge for something he couldn’t help? He’d done well to gain back control before something really bad happened. Constance shuddered at the thought of what could’ve happened, she could’ve gotten wounded, or worse.
Blinking for a second, holding the pouch of water, Connie then glanced down at her ankle, moving it around a bit and feeling the tingling of pain within the muscles and tendons. Grimacing, she started to hobble along towards the tree stump, plopping herself done and pulling her foot close, sliding her metal boot off and rolling her ankle around again, tugging at her blue legging-like tights. “I cannot imagine what that would be like, Kain. It must be tough to deal with.” She finally could form sentences! With a small nod she looked towards him and listened again, taking in every detail he decided to share with her, the smile he put on made her feel a little more confident that he really had found the strength to battle back that dark entity. Everyone has a dark side, Connie did, Kain did…everyone, it just took a lot of strength to fight those sides back. “It could have been much worse, you know. Please do not apologize, for had you not overpowered that dark side…things could’ve turned out far worse than they did.” She gave him an assuring smile, nod and just laced her fingers together as she held them against her propped up knee, extending her other with the twisted ankle. For some odd reason after all of this, there was still something within the brunette causing her to trust Kain, trust was something hard to earn, he had that right…but somehow he’d earned hers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 897 Muse: Great! Gripping at the wrap he had in his hands he moved forward as she sat down on the stump of the tree, kneeling down as she took off her boot. Taking her ankle in both hands gaining back that gentle nature he had once before, he propped it up on his knee cap. Kain looked at it for a long moment before finally speaking again, “It is sprained.” He said glancing up at her with a shake of his head he looked back down to her ankle and started to wrap it. “I should not have had to deal with it in the first place.” He told her with a small nod, “The moment I got the chance to, I split from the group. Anytime there was that feeling of them finding out, I made a run for it.” He told her as he continued to wrap her ankle, he would tighten it every so often as to make sure that it would come lose when she was walking. “They showed me more mercy than they should have. I guess that is what one would call true friends.” He told her with a small smile. And in reality they did, he had kidnapped Rosa, and that was not an easy thing to admit to, but he did it anyway. Passing the wrap over her ankle one more time he then folded the free end down inside what was wrapped around it.
Looking to her again with a small tile of his head as she said that it would have been much worse he shook his head at her, “It could have I suppose.” He replied, “But I think had it got to that point, you would have taken it into your own hands.” With that he gently let go of her ankle letting it back to the ground again as he stood up. “And I might not be standing here right now.” He told her in truth with a small smirk about him. “Don’t do too much with that.” He said nodding down at her ankle, “It will have to heal properly before you step into training again.” He told her as he looked around them for a small moment, just now taking in his surroundings. Kain had always been a part of living in Castle Baron, sure he had been around, but nothing had come into comparison as to how much beauty this place truly held. The free lands in the Baron had held something for him, he had always admired its magnificence, and one was easily drawn in.
Pushing back his blonde hair he looked back to Constance, “Of course that is, if you even want to continue training after that charade.” He told her with another shake of his head. He had already assured her that it was going to happen again so he would not repeat himself. He moved then to pick up his spear that he had tossed. He let it back in the ground next to him as he walked back over to Constance. “Nice reaction by the way.” He told her referring to when she had dodged it when he threw it at her. Her reaction times were indeed very good; best he had seen since well Edge. He shook his head at that thought. He leaned on his spear slightly as he peered at her again, “You said you were looking for your brother and father yes?” He asked with an arch of his brow as he retrieved an apple from his bag passing her one. Wiping it off with a cloth as he then took in a bite from it. He had remembered her mentioning it at the Tavern when she had spotted himself, Edge and Rosa there. It was not something that he would forget. If able he would offer to help her look for them. Kain needed to now help someone else other than himself, his worry for himself was mostly gone now, and he had to look forward now. The past was something that was long gone now, he had got forgiveness in the place that he had wanted.

Everything was under control now. Constance could breathe, she could be happy and alive, and she could hobble along like a crippled person. Growing up where she did though, twisted ankles weren’t something unfamiliar to her, she was well used to getting injuries, though the circumstances was what really struck fear into her heart. Even still, she was grateful for the control that Kain had regained, valuing her life and knowing that had she not moved fast enough, had she not been paying attention, something worse could’ve happened, in the end, she was just happy to be alive, sprained ankle or not. After having plopped herself on the tree stump and removing her boot, she waited and did her best not to flinch when it was moved again, being inspected by Kain, and very bluntly stated to be sprained. Yeah, she figured, but hey, it at least it wasn’t broken, that was always a plus, otherwise her mission to find her family would’ve been put back even longer than it already would be.
With Dr. Highwind taking care of her ankle, Connie just listened to the story, keeping her leg still as he wrapped her ankle. It would keep it stiff, so she wouldn’t hurt it as much when walking or whatever she was doing, in time it would heal. As she nodded slowly, listening to Kain speak, it was just unreal the things he had to go through and here she thought she had it hard in life. So badly did she want to sigh, but instead Constance held it in, there was no need to give anyone her pity, it only made people feel worse really, words of encouragement and optimism usually led people in the right direction, at least that’s what she had been told to believe. “You’re very lucky to have such wonderful friends like them, Kain.” She spoke honestly, even having known them for only a brief moment, Connie could tell that they were the kind of people one would want to be with, kind and caring, she never knew that kind of friendly relationship, she never really got out much in her day. “You best hold onto them, never let friends like that slip away.” Another piece of advice from someone who didn’t even know what it was like, still, the statement stands.
When her ankle was all wrapped up and stiff as a board. Connie lowered her foot back into her boot and carefully slid it back up and adjusted it so that she was comfortable, not able to twist or roll her ankle even if she wanted to. With a small almost saddened smile on her face, she looked up at Kain as he was now standing. “I don’t think so. I’ve been never been known to ‘take matters into my own hands’, defense I can do, anything more simply…it just isn’t in my nature.” She shrugged slightly, folding her hands in her lap as she sat there on the stump, feeling no need to be moving right away, after all, she could still feel her ankle throbbing and putting weight on it just didn’t sound like a good idea. Nodding at his advice, she lifted her ankle up and propped it on her other knee, resting a hand against her boot and feeling the wrap even beneath the malleable metal that was her boot. “I’ll be sure to do what I can. I do need to hit the road soon, I’ll just be sure to not walk nearly as much as usual.” Connie nodded, feeling better already about…well everything.
“Hm? Of course I still want to train! I mean, in a matter of minutes I’ve gone from helpless to knowing even the basics of something, don’t let one little fluke make you flake out on me here, Kain.” Her voice was almost demanding, as if she would be really disappointed should training cease. Constance needed all the help she could get in terms of fighting, otherwise she just wouldn’t survive in what people like to call ‘the real world’. At the sound of a compliment, Connie let her eyes drift towards the ground, a soft tone in her voice as she lifted a hand to rub the back of her neck. At least she’d done something right during their little spar, she was quite proud of that even though they ended up to be somewhat of a scary situation.
“Thanks.” She mumbled quietly, appreciatively before letting her grey eyes shift upwards again, a small frown appearing on her face at the mention of her journey, her mission to find her missing father and brother. “Mhm, they’ve been gone for a little while now. They’d left to go search for Rosa when she went missing. I know the odds are slim, but I must keep looking until I find some sort of proof of their being alive or being deceased.” It was saddening, but that was life, you had many hardships, but hey, there was still the slight possibility that her missing family was alive, a small spark of hope was what kept her going, that was enough. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 953 Muse: Fantastic! “That I won’t.” He told as she told him not to let go of friends like that. They were tight friends and nothing could break that bond that they had. Having gone through so much together and in so little time, he was proud to call them such. Another might even say that he was damn lucky as well. He finished off wrapping up her ankle with a nod to himself. “I think had pure adrenaline taken over you might have surprised yourself.” He told her with a small smile as he stood up. He was not about to discourage her all, for it was he who had caused the damage to her ankle and now she could not continue, yet at least. But he held both his hands up in defense, “I would never imply such. I was just making sure is all; you cannot blame me for that.” He told her with a small smile about him. Letting his legs cross in a standing position he looked to her, “I do however admire you’re not wanting to give up. Cannot find a lot of that these days.” He told her with a small shake of his head. There had been an easier time in the world but now was not it, maybe in the future.
Looking around them once more he perked a brow and brought his gaze back to her, after thinking on her words about her lost family. Family was very important, but Kain really had none after his father had died. He had just moved on and started to call his friends the family that he had. “I could offer my assistance in finding them if you wish. You have seen my skills, and another set of eyes would not hurt.” He said with a small nod of his head. As he looked to her that was when he heard the sound of a slight roar above them, looking up and shielding the sun from his eyes another smile came to his face. “I take that back, two sets of eyes would not hurt.” He remarked as he watched the dragon land nearby, making its way over to them. The dragon perked up its wings at the sight of Kain and seemed to give Constance a low bow of its head to acknowledge that she was there. Bringing a hand up to his massive head he spoke, “You remember Constance.” He said as he petted his head.
Skeiron let out a slight puff, steam rolling from his nose as if sounding offended that Kain implied that he could have forgotten. With a shake of his head Kain pulled his spear from the ground again and attached it to the dragons back. Adjusting the saddle a bit as it was crooked, “What were you doing out there?” Kain questioned with a small laugh in his throat. He reached up to grab at one end of the saddle pulsing it back down, he grabbed at the straps underneath him and gave a yank with both hands to tighten it up again. Gripping at the belt like strap again he adjusted its loop and tightened it once more. Once he was done he picked up his bag and slung it onto the saddle, turning to look back to Constance, “We can also cover more ground this way, a nice addition if I say myself.”He told her with a small smirk as he then held a hand out to her to help her up. The dragon however seemed to drop low to its belly, his legs beneath him. Arching a brow at the dragon, “You never do that for me.” He said with a shake of his head turning his glance back to Constance. “I know you have probably left your things in town, we can stop and retrieve them? And the horse is smart enough I am sure.” He said with a pause, "It will follow." At this point he was not taking no for an answer.

Kain’s words had put a very interesting thought into the mind of the brunette. As she remained silent for a brief moment, she had to think about it. Had things not lightened up, would she have done her absolute best to defend herself even if it meant inflicting damage to her newfound ally? It was a scary thought, having to harm those who you called your friends, but desperate times had called for desperate measures, right? Luckily there was no need to attack him and try to win, all she had wanted to do was parry attacks and keep herself breathing, that was all she needed to do, the rest was all Kain, he’d been able to control himself before he literally cut off her air supply…of that she was grateful, but no more words would be spoke of that, wanting to put this tiny incident behind them, it could be forgotten in a matter of days, Constance would push it to the back of her mind for now, her attention on Kain for the time being.
“Well, whenever I don’t feel like limping around, then we can get back to training, so long as I’m around you know.” She added with a small nod of her own, thinking about where she needed to get going next. The journey was not over for her just because of a sprained ankle, she needed to continue onwards. Connie just needed to make sure Rio would be ready for the trip, carrying her a long distance when the brunette was used to walking alongside her strong horse through most of her journey thus far. If she wanted her ankle to heal faster, she’d stay off of it as much as possible, but sometimes you needed to disobey the orders you were given in order to accomplish something. As she blinked, staring forward towards Kain, she explained that she did need to go searching for her family, knowing the chances were slim, but hey, that didn’t mean she needed to give up hope, there was always a bright side somewhere within any situation, even in a situation such as death, all she really needed to do was keep searching until official proof was given to her.
Kain…wanted to help? With a hopeful look in her eyes, she carefully eased up onto her feet, keeping all of her weight off of her injured ankle and clasping her hands together. “You’d really do that?” Constance asked quietly before a roar broke her concentration on how nice Kain had been to her so far. Looking up, she did see a dragon flying overhead, it looked like Kain’s dragon, and since he wasn’t becoming alarmed, she figured there would be no need for her to be alarmed as well. Then again, she wasn’t used to dragons all that much yet, it was still only slightly frightening. It was a very well behaved creature though, and it put a smile onto the trishula wielder’s face as she gave the dragon a small nod in return, her eyes flickering between Kain and the dragon, finding their interactions so very amusing, as if Kain were talking to a friend, it reminded her a lot of herself and Rio.
With a few silent laughs to herself as Kain interacted with Skeiron, she then noticed the dragon lower itself for Constance. Blinking, her eyes widened slightly. She…was…not…riding…a…dragon. Okay so she probably had no choice seeing as she’d have to hobble her way back to down and ultimately drag herself there after a while, but Kain did have a point, it’d cover a lot of ground much faster. “A nice addition indeed, I can…always leave Rio in the care of the stable owners, less work for him, a well deserved vacation if you will.” She spoke before taking steady steps towards the dragon, hesitantly raising her hand before patting the side of its head. “I’d appreciate your help Kain, as well as Skeiron’s. I’d be honored to have you join my ‘party’” she said with a light shrug of her shoulders as well as a genuine smile. “We can stop into town quickly, I can take care of Rio and we can be on our way…you know, I’ve never actually ridden a dragon before, this will be…interesting, just don’t laugh at me and my curiosity.” She advised, before carefully pulling herself up the saddle and sitting herself down easily, that much she could do, now all that was left was to not have a heart attack once this thing started flying. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 854 Muse: Great! “Of course I would.” He retorted almost instantly when the dragon made its appearance. He smirked as he spoke about a third set of eyes, it was however ridiculous that he would put the dragon in that position, but it would help his chances of her letting him tag along. Kain fiddled with the saddle a little and moved around to the front of the dragon, letting a hand run about his long neck again to which the dragon accepted without much thought about it. He stood back for a moment as he watched Constance step up to Skeiron a small smirk about his face. She had guts, he would give her that. “That horse is well trained.” He remarked with a pause before continuing. “When one is around a fight it will usually buck up and run off. Yours however did not.” He said crossing his arms across his chest he watched her interact with the beast. Skeiron could take a hit or two, the massive thing that stood before them was a rare breed. His head cocked to the side as she petted him. Taking in another bite from his apple and finishing it off he tossed the core to the dragon to which he snapped up. Yes, this dragon was odd, eating vegetation and getting proper meats everyday.
Hearing her speak again his brow perked at hearing her agree to let him come along. He had not joined up in a party in a long time, for he had feared it and stayed away from situations like this at all cost. A weight had just been lifted from him and he would gladly help her if she needed it. Kain would then move over to the other side that Constance was on to make sure that nothing else was loose before they took flight. Giving a slight smirk at her words but was not seen, he spoke, “Don’t worry, most people have not in fact ridden a dragon.” He said to her as he finished off what it was that he was doing. Upon seeing her climb atop the dragon, he himself knelt down to pick up his helmet before gripping on the side of the saddle and swinging himself atop the saddle as well. Kain stood atop the saddle for a moment as he adjusted his breast plate and turned to look to Constance with a smirk about his face, “You might want to take a hold of the saddle.” He said as he then turned back to the way that the dragon was facing. Moving himself so that he was atop Skeiron’s neck, not on the saddle, he snapped a finger as the dragons wings then started to move.
With in no time at all the dragon had managed to dart upward, causing the trees around them to move with the wind that his wings were causing. This was the part that anyone could tell that Kain enjoyed the most. Had it not been for him facing the other direction Constance would have seen the smile atop his face as Skeiron moved in the air. Its movements graceful, and more with precision. As they had gained a few miles in about ten minutes, Kain turned to Constance. “You head into town, something I need to do.” He said to her as he spotted a rather open field that was empty, he nudged Skeiron to land there, “Meet back here.” He said and with that he leaped from the dragons neck and into the forest below them. Free falling into the vast forest below he gripped at the nearest branch with both hands he dropped to the forest floor. There had to be a royal guard out here somewhere, as close to Baron as they were. Looking around for a moment he spotted a guard post. With a small nod about his face he made his way to them.
A letter he had prepared a while back, he retrieved from inside his armour, addressed to none other than Rosa. The seal about the letter would allow it to be delivered to her directly and without cause for him to question Kain. The guard took the envelope with a small nod of his own and mounted his horse wasting no time at all. A letter to let her know that he had been freed of that dark and that he was moving on, it would put rest to her mind that she knew and would expect to see him soon, upon finishing what he had to do, more of an update than anything.
