Ethan: Two Guns"It's said the second you look into my guns' barrels, you're already dead." Ethan sighed as he got himself a can of soda. It had been a while since he had gone on that mission with Elena to locate and retrieve that probe from PSICOM. Unfortunately, it lead to quite a catastrophe for a mission. The probe turned out to be attached to a Chocobo at the Chocobo Farm. Said Chocobo decided to hop the fence and escape, leading the two Turks on a wild Chocobo chase. Of course, they finally got the better of the yellow bird but things continued to go downhill from that point on. The Marsh monster had attacked them. Ethan was surprised that they even managed to get out of that situation alive.
Bored, Ethan glanced at the computer screen on his desk. It currently had a word document opened up for Two Guns to type up his report on the subject. Such a task usually took a good ten minutes or more depending on the typos that were made and the proofreading he'd have to do. Then, there was all the paperwork he had to also file about other missions that he still hadn't finished. Honestly, Ethan preferred to work outside the office. Here, inside, it was cooped up and rather uneventful. In fact, he could already feel himself drifting off into sleep.
Considering he shared an office with Rod, it wasn't likely that Two Guns would be bothered or even reported for taking a nap. In fact, most of the Turks watched each other's backs when it came to napping. Why? Well, most of them understood what it was like being driven to the point of exhaustion. Anyone would eventually need to take a nap on the job because of being so tired. So, they all were together on this one. The only ones that didn't uphold this had to be Tseng and maybe Kylie, aka Gun.
Having accidentally let his elbow slip, since he had leaned his chin upon his wrist, Ethan jolted awake. Looking around wide eyed for a moment, he gradually began to calm down. Really, things were uneventful. Ethan would do anything if it meant he could get out of this office right now. Right now, he had no idea that his wish was about to be granted and nowhere near in a fashion that he wished for. Thus, as the saying goes, one must always be careful what you wish for since they might just get it.
As he sat there, his mind wandered to Elena. She was a serious girl but she also had her sweet moments. Unlike Kylie, Elena was clearly the mellower of the two and the more cheerful. How Elena became a Turk, he didn't know. It was true that she was very skilled. It's not her skills that made Ethan wonder. In fact, it had to do with the memory of the things that Elena had said about never joining them all because of her relationship with Gun. Yet, here she was, a member of the Turks alongside her sister. He wondered how that must've felt for her and Kylie. Why the two never seemed to see eye to eye, Two Guns could only wonder. Ethan would've been very happy and proud to see his sibling make it as a Turk. He'd be even happier about the fact that they were also working alongside one another. Kylie and Elena didn't seem to think of it as something such as that. It was sad, to say the least.
Thinking about Elena, Ethan smiled a bit to himself. Compared to her academy self, she had really grown into a fine young woman. Er...not in a perverted context. It's just that he noticed just how much she had developed since then personality wise. Although, he didn't mind the appearance either but she was admittedly cuter with her pigtails. Of course, he'd never dare to say such a thing to her. He'd probably get glared down for suggesting such a thing since Elena would probably think it childish. Still, Elena was a beautiful woman. Ethan always seemed to find himself drawn to the blonds. Of course, he knew it was taboo considering she was Kylie's younger sister but he couldn't help himself finding the girl attractive. Ethan never told Elena but he was drawn to her for some reason. He always kept coming around her and striking up conversation with her. Whether or not Kylie noticed, he wasn't sure but if she did he had a nasty feeling something bad would result of it.
'Like my nuts getting shot off!' he thought with a sweat drop. Ethan didn't think Kylie knew anything about how Elena and Ethan were getting along but he feared if she did. Why? Well, Kylie was known to be the top of the list of "who not to piss off" out of the women Turks. Cissnei was second to her.

God it felt good to be back at headquarters, alive and well. With that thought in mind, Kylie rubbed her wrists, where the bonds had been. The mission her and Elena had been sent on had turned into hell, to be quite frank. What had started out as a stealth mission had quickly turned into a fight for their lives. With no one knowing that they were in trouble, they could have easily been killed before anyone figured out they were delayed and sent backup. No, after they had been found out and Elena captured, it had been up to her to get them both away. Thankfully, she had the experience and courage to do just that. Unfortunately, she had been overcome with emotion seeing someone singing Elena’s flesh to try and get her to talk and rushed in prematurely. Being swarmed, she had landed herself in the same situation, tied up and being threatened with death if she didn’t spill all of ShinRa’s secrets.
But together they had gotten away. Kylie hadn’t been proud of her actions, charging in without taking complete assessment of the situation, but her sister had been being tortured. As much as they had quarreled over the years, and even perhaps hatred on Elena’s part toward her, Kylie still loved her as a sister, and damn it, no one was going to harm her. The problem with communication came in when Kylie couldn’t get out what she felt or thought, at least in regards to emotions. Her relationship with her mother and father had been easier, though she had been very young when her mother had passed. After that, her relationship with her father had been strictly business. After she had joined the Academy, it was simply him pushing her to become the best, and her striving to be the best. There was nothing that a father and daughter should have. And as soon as she had gotten to the top, Kylie had been recruited by the Turks, fitting in perfectly there. Perhaps she could be a bit too cold at times, perhaps she could be a bit harsh, but she thought of each and every member – yes, even Rod- as family. A very strange…dysfunctional family, but a family nonetheless. Would she ever admit that? Probably not. But the feeling was still there.
Having left for some time, she had been called back by Tseng, surprised to see that some of the others had returned as well. Ethan, Maiah, even Cissnei, who she hadn’t thought would ever come back after the SOLDIER incident. She found herself wishing the rest would come back. Katana and Shotgun, Rod and Martial Arts, Nunchaku, Knife and Legend. It really had been a long time since the entire group had been together. She missed them. It had taken years for her to admit that out loud, but even now…even if it was Rod asking, she would have to be honest. Hell yes she had missed them.
And of course, there was no letup in this life. A day to recover, if that, usually only a few hours of downtime before you were sent on the next mission. She had taken precious time when she could have been sleeping to make herself presentable again, putting on a new suit and placing her other in the wash. Now it was time to get going and see if Ethan had been briefed about their mission. Ethan… Kylie had heard rumors. But, were they just that, or actual truth? Kylie had overheard Cissnei telling Reno that she had seen Elena give Ethan ‘the look’. Well, Kylie wasn’t stupid. She knew what ‘the look’ meant, at least when Cissnei was the one saying it.’And Cissnei should know’, she thought then, picturing tiny, petite Cissnei with her stomach bulging from Reno’s child. Yes, she should definitely know what the look was. But then again, she couldn’t be sure. It might just be speculation. And so she would give him the benefit of the doubt and not attack him with ‘leave my little sister alone Ethan’ schpeals. Besides that, Elena was a big girl, she could take care of her-…okay, maybe not. But the fact remained, she needed more facts before she jumped to conclusions. Right?
And now here she was.
Kylie stepped softly, well aware that he might be napping. She understood how it was. Despite having the reputation of being a whip cracker, Kylie was human, and that being said, she understood the life of a Turk. Any sleep you could possibly get, you got, be it standing up, sitting down, or laying down. At times, you didn’t get any of those options, fighting through hours of nonstop running, shooting down targets without so much as a wink of sleep. Plus, hadn’t Tseng mentioned that he had just come back from something as well? Maybe she was mistaken. The point was, that though she was very ‘by the book’ in most situations, this was one that she could understand as being important. The more sleep any of them got, the better. Approaching from behind, Kylie walked softly, noticing that he was awake, but…he had a faraway expression on his face. “Hello Ethan,” she spoke in greeting so as not to appear right beside him and startle him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1052 Muse:; Great! Ethan: Two Guns"It's said the second you look into my guns' barrels, you're already dead." Ethan wondered what would happen if he so much as dared to say anything to Elena. She had seemed so drawn to Tseng though that he doubted that she would look his way. Still, she seemed to enjoy his company whenever he was around so that was a good sign. He didn't mind just being friends with her if that's what she wanted. It would hurt, of course, but he'd bare with it if things turned out to be like that. Hopefully, it wouldn't be anything like that and Kylie wouldn't mind it too much. 'Yeah...right! Gun would rather shoot my dingleberries than accept anyone of us dating Elena!' he thought.
Kylie, aka Gun, was known to be very strict. She, of course, had her moments where she could be very nice but they were far and in between. The most anyone got out of Kylie was her business attitude. Now, don't get Ethan wrong. Where he did fear Kylie finding out Ethan's interest in Elena, Kylie was still a good ally to have. All Turks were family, regardless. If anything, Two Guns hoped that when Gun found out that she wouldn't be too angry for long. Then again, why should she feel anger towards something like that? It was understandable for a sibling to want to protect the other sibling. Now that he thought about it, Ethan would probably act the same way with his sister if she were still alive. Oh well, he'll manage somehow if things turned out that way.
As he sat there, thinking about Elena, he heard the sound of gentle footsteps from behind. Initially, he thought it was Elena or Cissnei. Two Guns hadn't seen Kylie since she returned but it looked like today was the day he'd get to see her after such a long time. Turning at the sound of Gun's voice, Ethan almost felt like his heart was going to leap out of his throat. No matter how she'd approach him, just because of the fact he and Elena were getting along very well, he would've still had a heart attack. Regaining his self composure in hopes that he didn't make Kylie think that he was acting funny, Ethan covered up his shock with genuine surprise and delight to see Gun again.
A smile appeared on his face as he looked back over at her. "Hey, Kylie, how're you? Haven' seen you for ages!"he greeted her, getting to his feet. It would be rude of him to just sit there while she was standing. "Need a seat?" he asked her, hoping this was going to be a friendly reunion and not a bad one. Sure, he hung around Rod and was one of the three troublemakers of the group out of the guys but Ethan generally got along better with the others despite that. Alone, he was good. When he was with Reno and Rod,on the other hand, one had to expect chaos to ensue wherever they went. It was just common knowledge that the three were trouble and one was wise to avoid them when they were together.

Kylie almost laughed at the expression on Ethan’s face when he first figured out who she was. Instead of making a comment on it, though, she simply quirked an eyebrow and noticed that he seemed to get himself under control and even give her a smile. Why was it that the certain look of total and utter panic he had on his face at first was there? It wasn’t like she was going to shoot him for no reason or something. At least…she probably wouldn’t. Unless he pulled a Rod and did something incredibly stupid. It would have to be something very, very stupid for that to happen though, so…she would let him off the hook. Maybe. Maybe she would. She had to smile at that. Still, she didn’t comment on it. Instead she simply waited for him to calm down, which he seemed to do somewhat quickly thankfully.
Managed to pull it together enough to smile at her. Kylie really wasn’t as evil as they painted her out to be. Then again, she didn’t approve of their stupidity, and she hadn’t ever corrected their opinions of her. Why not let them think that she was some heartless nazi that never let any humor into her life? It was somewhat amusing to watch them when they did think like that. He even got to his feet, which she was about to protest. It did feel nice for him to at least pretend had missed her, even if he actually hadn’t. she thought she would surprise him even more, perhaps give him a heart attack. And so she simply took a step forward and hugged him. Wouldn’t that just give him a heart attack. Smiling as she stepped back, Kylie nodded and crossed her arms over her chest. “It has been quite some time. It’s nice to be back.”, she commented easily.
And it really was. Kylie wasn’t ashamed to admit that she had missed them all. She really had, it wasn’t a lie. Despite liking her job at the academy teaching combat, she had missed actually having to think logically and do something. Do something other than have to smack down some brat kid that thought they were all that. Just because they had some rich parents that would pay their way through the academy. It all brought back her own family life and how she had made her way through whenever they tried to throw that card in her face. She usually ended up challenging them to some sort of martial arts battle just for the satisfaction of rubbing their face into the pavement. She had worked too hard to have some wet behind the ears child tell her off. Going from a slums child with only a harsh father and younger sister, to a Turk had been a big achievement. And so eventually, when Tseng had asked her to return, though she had been reluctant at first, she had finally done so. After all, she had missed this life, as well as the excitement. And the pay was actually better than being a teacher at the academy. As well it should be.
She wouldn’t take his seat though. “No no, it’s yours. Thanks anyway Ethan.” Scooting a few files away, Kylie cleared herself a seat on the desk and popped up onto it, remaining just as poised while sitting on a desk. When she did, she set the file down on his desk. “Did Tseng or Reno contact you about the mission?”, she asked curiously. Reno probably hadn’t, and Tseng was busy trying to get everything in order. But they were being sent because they were the gun specialists. Or so Tseng had mentioned. Kylie didn’t mind getting sent with Ethan, at least without Rod and Reno around. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 812 Muse:; Great! Ethan: Two Guns"It's said the second you look into my guns' barrels, you're already dead." It wasn't that Ethan hadn't missed Kylie. In fact, he did miss her. It's just he was uncertain if she figured out that he had affections for Elena. If she found out, he wouldn't put it past her threatening to shoot him where the sun didn't shine. After all, Kylie might not get along with her sister but she was protective of her despite that. What sibling wouldn't be? It was also known most women did not like it when others approached their family members for such things. He would have to tread carefully here.
Considering the things Kylie had done to Rod, Ethan definitely had a bad picture painted about her in his head. Kylie was known to be the most toughest cookie out of the Turk women when it came to attitude. Out of the women, she was the most unpredictable only because her attitude was come and go. One moment she could be friendly with you and the next, probably kicking your ass from one end to the other into next year.
When she suddenly came up to him and hugged him, Ethan indeed almost had himself another heart attack. His heart beat at least skipped a few beats before registering that she was just hugging him. She was even smiling! 'Either she's actually happy to see me or secretly planning to castrate me when I least expect it!' he thought. Still, he gave her a hug in response. His uneasiness gone now that he knew she didn't appear to be aware of the affections between himself and Elena. As she let go of the embrace, taking a few steps back before crossing her arms, Ethan heard her comment.
Considering what she had said, Ethan smiled and gave a nod. It really had been a while since he last saw her. "Yeah, it's good ta see ya, Kylie. It seems like a lot of us are slowly returnin' home. Glad to have ya back with us!" he replied. He genuinely was, his smile an indication of that. Ethan was probably one of the trouble making three that generally got along well with most of the other turks. It was only when Rod and Reno were around when he was a problem because the three or even two of them got into a lot of trouble.
Patiently, he waited for her to decide where she'd like to sit. Out of respect for her as a lady and a friend, Ethan had stood up and proffered his seat to her for her to take. However, she merely told him that she wouldn't. "Ah, okay. You're welcome, Kylie." With that, he sat back down, looking back at her as she pushed aside a few files from his desk and sat upon it. All this time, he had registered that she had been holding a file in her hands. How he hadn't noticed it before, Ethan wasn't sure and blamed his surprise responsible for that.
When she plopped it on the desk, he took a second to look down at it before looking up at Gun as she spoke. Had Tseng or Reno contacted him about the mission? Well, Ethan had no idea he was already being sent out on another mission. He had only just returned from one crazy one with a chocobo and just managed to get his arm mended and his life spared from poisoning. "Actually, I had no idea they were sendin' me out again already. Mind if I look through? Or do you already know what we're goin' up against?" he stated as he picked up the file and skimmed through it to try and figure out the answer.

Kylie nodded her head slowly when he mentioned that they were making their way back home. “Indeed. I guess we did always have sort of a family relationship between all of us here, back before that last battle made us split up.” Kylie was sure Ethan remembered exactly what battle she was talking about. It had been interesting fighting that last summon, but they had gotten the job done either way, even if it had seemed to kill them all. Somehow, and she really wasn’t sure how, they had all survived that mess, but they had been thrown apart, most of them going their separate ways. While most of them had simply gone by choice, Kylie thought that Cissnei’s mind had been slightly broken, what with the death of Zack, her ‘failure to protect them’. She was happy to see that the woman was no longer in that state, and happily married to Reno. How she could be happily hitched to him, Kylie still couldn’t figure out. “I’m glad to see the faces that have returned. Now if Rod came back…”
Kylie even managed a smile after she trailed off, sure that once again, Ethan would understand what she meant by that. She had never exactly gotten along with the spiky red head that had come from the same background as she had. He and Reno had always been the two worst ones, and Kylie sometimes felt like strangling both of them. And how had Reno gotten to be second in command anyway? Sometimes she still questioned that, but Kylie knew that when it boiled right down to it, he was damn good at his job. If push came to shove and something happened to Tseng, he could take over and keep things running, at least for a short time. She couldn’t imagine Reno giving out a pay dock though…that would be pretty ironic, considering how many he usually got.
Denying the seat that he offered, Kylie brushed aside some things and settled herself onto his desk, glancing at his slightly weary face. They were all tired and doing extra work with this whole new organization thing. Heck, they all needed a break, and she felt almost bad being the bearer of bad news. For a moment she wondered if she could get someone else to go with so that he could rest his eyes, but decided against it. She was sure Ethan could handle himself, even if he was tired.
She didn’t overlook his telling her that he was being sent out so soon again. Sighing, she tucked some blonde hair behind her ear and glanced at his profile again. “I apologize for being sent out again so soon, you know how it goes,” she finished a bit wearily. “I’ll fly so you can sleep on the way,” she offered. Tapping at the file, she shrugged her shoulders. “I’m sure you’ve heard quite a bit about the military organization targeting ShinRa and the WRO that you and Rude came to help Elena and I escape from. We smoked them out of their place in the Forgotten Forest, but now when Tseng and I returned last week, we learned that they have another place in Wutai. We figured out what location they must be, and-…well I’m sure you can guess the rest of it. We’re supposed to go investigate as best we can. Sounds like fun, eh?”, she said in her normally dry sense of humor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 744 Muse:; Great! Location:; ShinRa building Outfit:; Turk uniform Tagged:; Ethan! Ethan: Two Guns"It's said the second you look into my guns' barrels, you're already dead." As Kylie responded to what he said about everyone seeming to return little by little, he gave a nod at what she had said. It was true that they had all shared some kind of family bond amongst them. No Turk left another Turk behind. They were always there for one another, through thick and thin. Two of them that had died on the job had, no doubt, backed each other up until the bitter end. Such was the way of the Turk. Unlike SOLDIER, they took care of their own. They weren't just in it for themselves and betrayal was highly frowned upon. Any Turk that was likely to do such a thing was eliminated before they became a Turk.
Ethan knew exactly what battle Kylie spoke of. It had been quite a battle with that final summon. It had been their breaking point. They had all somehow managed to survive but the battle had left others thinking they had all died on the job. In reality, the Turks had decided to use that battle as a cover up to hide their tracks from Shinra. The original president, after all, had wanted them dead for having supposedly gone against Shinra during those times. Thankfully, Rufus loved them more than his father had. Two Guns held a deep respect for the younger president. Any of the Turks would give their life for him any day. Granted, it was their job but all of them had a respect for the President and would voluntarily anyway.
Two Guns gave a knowing smirk and a bit of a chuckle when Kylie talked about how she was glad to see the faces here that had returned and then mentioned Rod. It was commonly known that Kylie didn't stand Rod and Reno, even Ethan at times whenever he was paired with one or the two of them. They were a hectic three, that was for sure.
Even though he was tired, Ethan knew that he had to go on if he was being sent out. It had been true that they had been overworked lately but it was to be expected. At least, until they finally got onto a more stable footing with their new headquarters and their organization. That and if PSICOM would stop messing with the Planet and get off their damn world and the portals would stop popping up all over the damn place. As Kylie apologized, he politely waved it away. "Not yer fault they work us to death, Kylie. It happens. 'Sides, we're the Turks, we get the job done no matter what." Sure, he was tired but he'd still put up with it. He just hoped he wasn't so tired that he'd be asleep on his feet by the time they were finished here.
When she offered to fly the helicopter for him so that he could get some shut eye, Ethan smiled. "You'd do that? Thanks, Kylie! I owe ya one!" he replied. As she explained the situation, he nodded, listening to her while skimming through the papers. Well, this was definitely going to be something. "Ironic, I was jus' in Wutai a week ago with that mess with Yuffie and that machine with PSICOM." Placing the papers on the desk, Ethan got to his feet, stretching as he prepared himself for a trek from his office to where the helipad would be.
"Yeah, loads of fun!" he retorted to her sarcastic joke. Neither of them would find this as fun. At least Ethan would get to speak to Kylie a bit more. If he was lucky, she might not hate him as much if she found out about his affections towards her younger sister. It had been obvious though during that mission where Rude and Ethan arrived to save the two blondes though. She seemed unaware though so he was safe...for now. "After you, Kylie."

Kylie didn’t respond right away when he mentioned that they liked to work them to death. It was true…but then again, they had all signed away their lives when they had signed up to be a Turk. In some cases literally as well as emotionally. Thinking a moment more, she finally nodded. “They do like to make us work long hours. But…we did sign up for this when we became Turks.”, she said finally, gazing at him while he sat there. It really was true, they had signed up for this, even down to the knowledge that they would be hated by some, and work like dogs. It was more than the pay that kept them working for the company though. Each of them, even if they wouldn’t admit it, had zeal for the job that they did. Anything else would be boring in comparison. She should know, after being in the regular world for just a few years. Just a few short years and she had gotten completely bored of that life. Interesting, since she had determined she would never come back when she left.
Because she could understand where he was coming from regarding the exhaustion. There had been plenty of times in her life as one of the Turks she felt similarly. And always there was someone there to pick her back up and help her through it. One of them would do this for her, they would allow her the rest she needed to be able to go on with the day. An hours rest while flying the helicopter, or a half hour on a drive to a mission. They had all had favors like that given to them just when they needed it the most, so Kylie was more than happy to allow him some rest so that he could be fresh for their mission.
She could understand that it was frustrating to go back to somewhere you had just come home from. “The terrorist group needs to work on their efficiency, hmm? Why couldn’t they slip up a week ago so we didn’t have to make another trip to Wutai? Gas prices these days…”, she finished with a shake of her head. A rare case of actually being humorous? It wasn’t new for her to do, but it definitely was rare for her to crack some jokes.
“Indeed.”, she said calmly when he motioned for her to go first. Scooting off the desk, Kylie straightened her appearance and strode away from the desk, making her way through the building and toward the hanger for the helicopters. The sooner they started this mission, the sooner they could be back home and resting more fully. She liked that idea…liked it a lot, and she was sure that Ethan did as well. Sending a glance his way while they walked, Kylie cleared her throat, thinking again of what Cissnei had told Reno about Elena. “It feels odd, working with Elena here as well.”, she commented lightly, before shifting her gun around in its holster. “But good of course, don’t you think?”

Ethan: Two Guns"It's said the second you look into my guns' barrels, you're already dead." Ethan rose an eyebrow as Kylie went on to mention that where they did have them working long hours, they had signed up for it pretty much. That was true enough. Ethan remembered well when he had been appointed as a Turk for the first time. Veld had made it clear that if Ethan repented by becoming a Turk, he would no longer have to worry about his past life as a mobster. The Turks ensured a protection against his mafia "family". Honestly, Ethan never thought of them as family unlike he did with the Turks. Everyone here watched each other's backs and weren't the sort to backstab the other.
"Maybe in your case, Gun but in cases like mine and Rod's, we didn' have a choice. Not that I'm complainin'. I like the Turks much better than my previous "family". If that's what you can even call 'em!" he retorted. He gave a bit of a stretch and a yawn. "I jus' wish I could have some more shut eye before bein' thrown out to the wolves."
After a moment, Kylie talked about how the enemies needed to be more efficient. It was rare for Kylie to crack jokes but she was known to once in a while. Hearing the humorous remark about gas, Ethan gave a bit of a chuckle. "Didn' you get memo? The enemy always acts up a week after we leave. It's our luck!" he mused, joking back. Ethan didn't keep Gun waiting any longer though as he tiredly got back onto his feet. The sooner they left his office, the better. After indicating she lead the way, Ethan followed Kylie's lead out of his room.
As he walked along the corridor, in step with her, he heard her begin conversation about her younger sister. He knew this was a very touchy subject. In fact, he was surprised that she even brought the topic up about Elena. Did she know something? If that were the case, Two Guns needed to tread very very carefully right now. If he didn't, he was as good as shot. Since she had suddenly brought up Elena, he wasn't exactly sure how to respond. Kylie wasn't one to just suddenly talk about her younger sister. How did he know this? Well, even the Turks didn't know about Elena until that time she had showed up at the bar to greet Kylie only to get the cold shoulder. Of course, everyone was surprised by that but it wasn't something they held against Kylie for acting the way she did. Kylie did it to protect Elena so that no one would think she was important to her. At least, that's what most of them hoped Kylie's reasons had been when she ignored Elena that day. Either way, the subject of the sisters talking about either in the presence of another was a very touchy subject and Ethan wondered if he was going to come out of it okay.
"Heh, yeah. Guess you can say it's in your family blood. Who would've thought it though? Elena made it clear that she didn' want to be a Turk last we heard." He figured if he just said that, then he would be alright. Although, the way she was moving her gun bothered him a little only because he thought she knew and he was getting a tad nervous though he didn't show it.

His words brought her back to a reality. Sometimes Kylie forgot about the pasts that some of them had. She forgot that Rod was from the rough side of town. She forgot that Ethan had been part of the mafia. She just had this tendency to forget. After all, she had worked day in and day out with this same group for many years. They had been perhaps more family to her than her own family. One could easily forget their negative past when they had saved your ass a few times, and you had done the same for them. Who cared if they had done some bad things in their past lives when they showed their true character every day? It didn't matter. She had lived with that mentality for a long time, so she forgot that not every one of them had actually strived to be a Turk. Forgot that Cissnei had been forced to spend her childhood knowing what her future would be, or that they had 'persuaded' Ethan to join by telling him they would drop all his charges and protect him from the Mafia.
"I guess I forgot about the past.", Kylie mentioned with a glance over toward him. There was no shame in her, just admittance that she acknowledged what he had gone through to be a Turk. She had to smile over his one complaint...it showed that the Turks were indeed more than just an organization. "Maybe I'll speak to Tseng about that.", she said while she thought about it. She was no fool, Kylie knew that Tseng trusted her without question. If she were to bring up something like this, he wouldn't view it as a complaint so much as a suggestion that would benefit the company. After all, who performed the best while they were exhausted?
The easy relationship she felt with most - not all of course - of the Turks was nice. And hey, Kylie knew that her moments of humor were few and far between, but even she needed some humor in her no-nonsense life. Besides, she liked to keep them on their toes when they were around her, never sure what to expect. She very much liked that. Why not have some fun messing with them if she could? The thought brought a bit of humor to her, which showed itself by the slight smile on her lips. "Well we're going to have to fix that, now won't we. We'll have to have a talk with those terrorists to ask them kindly to get their act together and conform to our schedules."
It was after that, that Kylie began to think again of what she had before, of what she had overheard Cissnei mention to Reno about Elena and Ethan. What she thought was a casual way, she spoke up about her own sister, flickering her eyes over toward him to see if she could get some sort of a reaction. For his credit, he didn't say anything suspicious. "Indeed." Kylie wasn't really sure how she would feel about Ethan falling for her sister, or vice versa. Besides, what had she just been thinking about? His past didn't matter...it didn't matter. To her no, it didn't, but when they were talking about her younger si-...well why should it matter there either? Kylie felt somewhat of a battle of wills going on inside of her. To be completely honest, she was calling herself a hypocrite inside. "Elena and I have...never quite saw things eye to eye.", she mentioned dryly when he commented about her not having ever wanted to be a Turk. "Perhaps it was my fault.", she said without emotion. "Perhaps both of us were at fault. But obviously the past is in the past." Another honest fact was that Kylie felt much more comfortable talking with Ethan about this than Elena.
That made her sad. However, there was nothing much she could do about that. When they neared the hanger, Kylie singled out her favorite chopper and started toward it. Most of them had their favorites. When they were close, Kylie pulled open the door and hopped inside, waiting a moment for Ethan to do the same. He probably thought he was getting off...but Kylie did want to get a few things clear to him, even if things weren't going on between them. "Whether it was her or I's fault, she's my sister, and I'll protect her." Hesitating a moment, Kylie gave him a steady look. "I wouldn't want anything, or anyone, to hurt her." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 951 Muse:; Great!
