This was it.
War.
Glancing around herself, Caetuna felt a frown tug at her lips. The thought of children out there, fighting when they should be back inside the building, out of danger, struck a chord deep within her heart. It was hard, knowing she could do nothing about it, and pained that anyone would allow the innocent youths to partake in this war. It was stupid, and she wished she could do something about it. Yet there was nothing. Nothing to do but stride into war herself, undaunted, to try and save as many as she could. There was really no time to do anything besides that. There was no time to think, only to act. Still, the memories of the children that were now deep in the heart of war plagued her, haunted her tender heart until she yearned to make things right. ’Caetuna, there is a war to be won, get the thoughts out of your head.’ With that mental chiding, her attention focused on the scene before her.
This was her job, to summon. Yet to get to a position that would do well to summon in, where the most damage could be done quickly with the god of war, they would need to battle by hand as well. Lightly her fingers touched the handle of the blade that was even now strapped to her hips. Light, small, it served her well, an extra dagger strapped to her calf in case she somehow lost her weapon and needed some backup. Hand to hand combat was not her specialty, but she knew how to do so well enough to hold her own against the mere grunts that were out here on the battle field. They had to get to the high ground in order to summon her god of war. Once again green eyes went forward to scan the area they needed to fight through, with the soldiers advancing. Thankfully this area was, so far, free from air strike, so they only had to worry about the soldiers littering the ground, waiting to kill.
Glancing at her guardian, Caetuna reached out to touch him with a gentle, yet firm hand, settling over his bicep and putting a little bit of pressure there. Why did it feel so good to touch him? To draw comfort from him? The thought left her wondering, but she hadn’t the time to think about it, before she withdrew her hand, her right unsheathing the katana with the same gentle hand and held it firmly in her grip, determined green eyes looking around them. Doing this alone might have brought some fear, but all she felt now was apprehension. Caetuna had heard about the members of class zero that were now battling for their lives, along with the help they had received from the people that didn’t even reside in the same world. The war needed just a bit more of a push, however, to really get back on track to victory. That was where her and Zhuyu came in.
Without turning toward the tall man, she addressed him. Caetuna had always given him information regarding what she was going to be doing, and all the actions she needed to complete for the task at hand. “Zhuyu, we need to get to the higher ground to the north, where my gods of war will have the best effect they can have in their attacks. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any air strikes, so as of right now, all we have to deal with is the soldiers on the ground. No more children will die today," She said firmly, her mouth set in a firm line. "And now…we move.” Hardly had the words come from her mouth when the young woman was moving. She moved not with the eagerness of a huntress preparing for battle, but as a pained young woman, doing what was needed to help those that she called her family, her friends, and win a war to insure that the children had their future. The two students that had died already tugged at her heart strings. No more would die. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 903 Muse:; Great! This was a disaster.
Never before had Zhuyu ever imagined such chaos, such cruelty...it was inhuman, and even though he didn't remember his past, he still knew nothing like this had happened before, at least when nations were so desperate as to send children to battle. It was sickening, how could they do that? The only ones fighting should be thr grownups. There wasn't much one could do now, everyone was on high alert, battling for their lives, and now it was time to throw a giant curveball at the Milites, Caetuna and her summoning of the Gods of war. Zhuyu had vowed to remain at her side, to be her guardian, and he'd make sure things went differently this time around. There would be no dying today, not for them. He'd give every ounce of energy he had to keep himself and especially the summoner at his side, safe.
Feeling the heavy weight in his right hand, Zhuyu glanced down at his battle axe, finally able to take his gaze away from the unfolding horrors ahead. The Milites striking down anyone and everyone in their path, it was...it was going to end, with the summoning of the Gods of War, and if that didn't stop the Milites from charging in to Rubrum, then Zhuyu would. He'd go into the middle of it all himself and make sure he drove them back to the holes from which they crawled out of. A small scowl formed on the face of the former soldier, current guardian, as his dark black eyes moved to face the chaos ahead once more, never faltering in his small movements, and never once taking a look at Caetuna. He didn't want to have the pressure of saving lives on his shoulders, she was the most important person to keep alive, and the more he looked at her, the more stress weighed him down. Still, the vow he made...it would remain a promise, he would keep it, and keep Caetuna safe through this war, the next, and whatever else was thrown their way. That was his promise.
Feeling a hand touch and apply pressure to his bicep, Zhuyu finally turned his head slightly, giving the summoner a small look of encouragement, though his facial features didn't change all that much. He gave her a small nod, indicating he was ready to charge through the forces that got in their way. He didn't want Caetuna fighting, but she had a sword to protect herself, not to mention Zhuyu would be all over the place trying to protect her should things come to that. She needed to summon, and he needed to guard, as well as clear the path of soldiers for Caetuna. When Caetuna's hand left his arm, he knew it was time to get going. A small sigh escaped the soldier's lips as his gaze was steady and forward, listening to her explanation of what needed to be done. So...they needed to get to the higher lands up North. Easily done. So long as these soldiers proved themselves to be nothing but grunts in terms of experience. Zhuyu would wipe them out, if not for the sake of Caetuna, than for the sake of the children who would have to fight them later.
"Right." Zhuyu commented in a dull and quiet tone as he watched Caetuna then take off, he followed right behind her, his eyes gazing at the cluster of soldiers ahead, he took the liberty to speed up his pace, getting in front of her rather than letting her take on the soldiers first. With the scowl still on his lips, Zhuyu took a longer stride than normal, spinning once for momentum before he flung his battle axe at the group of soldiers, knocking a good chunk of them out of commission. The axe blade stuck to a tree before dematerializing and reappearing in the now advancing for a personal attack, guardian. Taking a glance over his shoulder to Caetuna, he wanted her to be safe, and so far she seemed to be pretty good for now. That meant he could really focus on taking down these soldiers. Quickening his run, he ducked down a bit before swiping at the soldiers with his axe, thrusting his elbow back - the one with the armor gauntlet on it - and got a soldier in the face. He was just a flurry of battle attacks now, taking it on like a brute soldier, that's what he was.

Caetuna hadn’t really expected him to say anything. Zhuyu was as silent as he was gentle toward her. Glancing over at him, she shared a look with him, struggling to keep all the apprehension, fear and doubts she had out of her eyes. She didn’t want him to know that even now she was struggling with this. Caetuna had never been one to glory in war. No, she hated it, hated everything about it. From the mindless killing to the deaths of comrades. Everything about war, even down to the stench, drew a chord deep within her heart. Still, this was her job, and in order to save Rubrum, as well as the people she had gotten close to in a short time, she would have to face war. Yet, just by giving her a look, he had erased her fears. That was all it seemed to take from him, along with the silent communication that went on between them. He would protect her with his life, and so she didn’t have to worry about what might happen once they stepped onto the battle field. She could protect herself as well, of course, but having him by her side made everything seem better.
Just a silent moment where she drew comfort and courage from him, and then they were moving.
Caetuna kept her green eyes peeled on the horizon. They would be getting to the Northern crest so that she could summon, but in order to get there, they had to go through countless waves of soldiers that threatened them. With Zhuyu by her side, she had nothing to fear. Even now, after years of watching him fight, she was never prepared for what she was about to see. Despite being so gentle to her, when in war, he changed completely, becoming a machine bent on destroying. It awed her that he could be both. Gentle and a warrior of such an extreme degree. She made no objections to him taking the lead, allowing his longer, faster stride to overtake hers, but kept up a sharp clip so as to stay close behind him once he did pass her. Thankfully her own long legs gave her a fast pace. With her small sword in her right hand, Caetuna watched at what she knew was about to unfold. The transformation took only a second for him to go from a silent man, to a man bent on destroying everything in his path.
And so it started. She watched as it took over him, slaughtering the Milite soldiers that came into their path. Caetuna simply followed the carnage, but her watchful eye caught the few soldiers that had been flanking them. Whirling around, Caetuna was on time to parry the blade that would otherwise have sliced through her belly. Whirling lightly on her feet, Caetuna ducked the second mans sword, intended to sunder her in half, twisting up to slice at the first. As he yelped and drew back, red streaking his chest and stomach, the young summoner felt something deep within her. These were adult men preying on children. How dare they? Never having been one to enjoy war, but quite the opposite, she felt something now that drove her actions. Perhaps it was desperation, or perhaps it was anger over being unable to control the fate of the teenagers who had given their lives for Rubrum, but instead of taking pity on the man, Caetuna whirled and smashed her handle into the face of the second man as he once more tried to attack her, before turning in a fluid motion and running her sword through the first man, pinning him neatly to the ground. Drawing back, her blade now holding some red on the edge, she moved to the side and felt herself conjuring magic onto her hand. The snarl that came from the second man showed his own desperation, but coolly Caetuna waited until the last moment before sending a blast of powerful thunder magic directly into his body.
She blocked out the half scream from her mind and turned to see if Zhuyu was still with her. Seeing him a few paces ahead, she hurried toward him, slaying one more soldier that had come from behind to get to him, noting that to her three, it seemed he had taken out dozens. That was his way, she mused, and had never been more thankful then she was at this moment. Hearing his question, Caetuna nodded, finally coming close again, but giving him ample room to move around in order to deal whatever damage he needed. “I’m holding up Zhuyu,” was her calm reply. It was a foolish question really, but concern led her to ask the same of him. “Are you still doing okay?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1021 Muse:; Good! The battle, that was all Zhuyu could really keep his eyes on. He glanced at Caetuna as much as possible, just to make sure she was doing okay. Although he was taking point, he knew a few soldiers would come from the sides, or behind, the ones in front seemed to have the most numbers, so that’s where he charged, flinging his battle axe as if it were nothing and bulldozing the soldiers in his path, it’s what he was focusing on. Gripping his weapon back in his hand again after it had dematerialized and returned to him, he smirked a bit, watching the oncoming soldiers charge towards him, some with guns, some with other various weapons from swords to simple one handed weapons, all he had to do was take one swing towards them to get them down and out of this game that was called ‘war’. He took a peek at Caetuna, watching her progress and actually feeling a bit proud of her, being able to hold her own and not be just some damsel in distress who couldn’t protect herself whatsoever.
There was definitely more to her than what he had gathered upon first appearances.
The darkness of no memories still haunted Zhuyu, and he wished he’d remembered at least his time with Caetuna, but that wasn’t something he could worry about right now. Turning his attention back to the soldiers, he spun again and flung his battle axe once more, letting it stay stuck in the ground as he then took a chance at free wielding fire. Shooting a bit of magic here and there and lighting the soldiers up, he smirked even more, feeling the adrenaline of battle run through his veins. His pace picked up as he smashed his elbow into the face of one soldier before practically throwing another into a charging one. It was as easy as taking candy from a rotten baby. Cid Aulstyne obviously didn’t train his soldiers for these types of fighters. I guess you could say Caetuna and Zhuyu were a great advantage for Rubrum. The Milites would have no idea that Rubrum had a summoner on their side, not to mention a fire wieldning guardian who was legendary with his battle skills. Who would want to go up against that? No one, that’s who.
Hearing footsteps approaching, Zhuyu glanced over his shoulder in the brief moment he had to pay attention to anything but battle, he was glad she was okay, able to take out soldiers on her own – though clearly not as many as he could – and was pleased to hear she was okay. Giving her an assuring nod, Zhuyu felt his battle axe once again reappear in his hand, his gaze moving from her as he looked around them completely, watching soldiers from far off start towards them, though they were a bit hesitant having seen their comrades just get their asses kicked, again, who would want to go up against that? “I’m fine, glad to hear you’re okay.” He said in his usual tone before leading forward, watching the area for soldiers and simply shooting fire magic at them as they came into range. It wasn’t worth the strength, nor the effort to throw his axe or physically fight them when he could just fling magic at them and be done with it. Their task needed to be completed, and time was not something they could waste. With every moment they stopped to struggle with a fight, a soldier from Rubrum died, or worse…one of the students from the academy.
“We need to keep moving, and quick. Time is not on our side today, shout if you see anything coming.” He advised as he continued to lead the way towards their destination point, the easiest place for Caetuna to summon the Gods of War. Still, Zhuyu kept his eyes ahead and to the side, trusting Caetuna to watch the rear. This wasn’t all that tough, keeping her safe, she wasn’t helpless, and Zhuyu could pretty much tell when something bad was coming their way, so far they seemed to be in the clear, and hopefully it stayed that way, at least for a little bit. Zhuyu could handle anything that came their way, and when Caetuna would summon, he’d need to be on his upmost guard, just like he was right now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 829 Muse: Great! Caetuna had no doubt that he would indeed be alright. This was Zhuyu, he was born to do this, or at least, trained and honed his skills to be able to be a machine that did nothing but fight. Yes, he was trained and seasoned to fight in a war such as this. Caetuna was just glad that she could hold her own instead of being some scared female that couldn’t do anything to help him. He was her guardian, yes, but she was also his partner, and she wouldn’t let him down. Refused to do so. And so for that reason, despite hating war and everything that it stood for, Caetuna waded in, dealing her own powerful blows to men that came to attack her. As one more slipped up from behind, Caetuna whirled once more, slipped her sword into its sheath and snapped both hands up. Thunder rumbled and then thundaga spells snapped off with so much power that it lifted the man high in the air and finally deposited them back onto the ground. With a nod of satisfaction, Caetuna turned back and hurried to Zhuyu again. She realized that though she could take care of herself, he was more likely to be able to do so, and her best bet was to stay with him until they came to where she was supposed to summon, and stay with him after that as well.
She nodded when he mentioned the need to get there quickly. “Yes, we’ll be there momentarily.” He had already sundered a path for them and they had made much better time then she had thought. With her picking off the men that came up from the rear and him mowing down those in front, their teamwork made it easy to slip through the masses and get to where she needed to go. She only hoped that they would be there in time to save some of the children that had taken up fighting for the cause. If even one child could be rescued from this, then it would all be worthwhile. Once again Caetuna saw a man come up from behind. Because of how close he was to her, it had to be with her sword. It took a moment longer then it would have with magic, but soon he lay at her feet and she continued on. They needed to get there, and soon. Caetuna was struggling to keep her patience working. They needed to summon, and the sooner the better. Cid obviously had way too many cronies that he could just summon for his every whim and wish.
And then finally they were there. Taking a deep breath, Caetuna sheathed her sword and nodded at the place in which they had come. Standing with her hands on her hips, she dragged in a breath from their running and fighting and then steadied herself. “Alright, this is good.” Glancing all around them, Caetuna didn’t see a soul, at least not in the immediate area. Finally she looked over at Zhuyu and nodded to show him she was ready and going to start summoning and he would have to be the only one fighting. With a sigh then, Caetuna concentrated hard, hand outstretching slowly as her summoning device started to float into the sky. Staring only at the device as it started to open like a flower, she thought of the Gods of War she would summon. Bahamut, Phoenix, Ifrit and Odin. That would help turn the tides in their favor.
But as the skies changed and the summoning started to sap the energy from her, something happened. Bahamut was the first one summoned and he immediately took to the skies to the southwest where she sent him, that having been the last place she had heard the younger students were fighting. Caetuna wasn’t sure what alerted her, but she whirled just as a woman came at her. Caetuna was startled and cried out, a well placed kick sending her to her knees. “You asked for it bitch, now stand up and fight like a soldier,” Rolling to the side, she came to her feet, and reached for her sword. “Zhuyu!” The woman just laughed and disappeared, reappearing right behind her and she could do nothing but duck out of the way. The summoning had already started to drain her of her strength though, and she was left panting at this. A kiss was blown in Zhuyu’s direction from the saucy woman that had attacked her, but as she advanced, Caetuna retreating, knowing she was no match for this woman while she was weak from summoning. And then she reappeared right behind her and got a hold on her neck, dagger coming up from the back to stab her. Struggling, Caetuna turned enough to be able to avoid getting stabbed, but she couldn’t keep this up. No, Zhuyu would have to rescue her. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1050 Muse:; Great! Moving forward, Zhuyu still kept his gaze moving at all times. Though he didn’t see nor hear much of anything aside from his and Caetuna’s footsteps, he still had an eerie feeling that something was going to happen. Maybe that was just the idea of war settling in, though it was something he was practically born for, it was still something scary that you had to face. Shaking his head a bit as he slowed up, letting Caetuna lead, but still gazing over her shoulder to make sure nothing came from ahead, he trailed at the back. She after all, had to pick the spot to summon, it was up to her to do that, to help turn the tables in Rubrum’s favor, and it was up to him to make sure she did it safely, and to protect her during the aftermath. Using magic of that magnitude would wear you out, he knew that, even if he wasn’t a summoner or mage. He needed to keep Caetuna safe, no matter what.
When her voice rang out again, Zhuyu looked over at the summoner, nodding and acknowledging that this place was fine. He took a look around, his eyes gazing into the distance, looking at the scenes of destruction and horror behind them. It didn’t faze him all that much, seeing bodies, or seeing blood, it was just a way of life. Everyone had to die sometime, didn’t they? Then again, they were living proof that the dead could be brought back to life, something he never imagined would be possible. His mind began to get clouded with the past he didn’t remember, he looked around much slower, as if he were really taking in the details and mentally noting them, but he was probably moving too slow. Still, he was sure he’d taken care of all the soldiers in the area, Caetuna would be free to summon anytime now.
Turning back to watch Caetuna as she began to summon, his eyes went to the little device before the skies started to change, and out came a huge summon by the name of Bahamut, taking to the skies and moving closer towards the actual fields of war. Turning his gaze towards the destruction where the summon was moving, he then was alerted by hearing something, the voice of a woman and it wasn’t Caetuna. Whipping around, battle axe in hand, he watched the armored woman and was instantly in motion as she finished speaking. Caetuna had called his name. Whoever this woman was, she was going to wish she’d never came across them. With the kiss blown in his direction, Zhuyu felt his temper start to rise, and he never lost his temper, ever. He was a very calm and almost unemotional individual, but apparently if you mess with Caetuna, you upset one strong guardian, which wasn’t wise on her part.
Scowling as he watched the girl disappear and reappear, grabbing Caetuna, he felt his axe dematerialize. Good thing the summoner moved instead of being stabbed, because then Zhuyu took charge, this girl may have thought it was easy to manhandle everyone, but he was not as easy to take down as a weakened summoner. Grabbing the Milite soldier by her forearm, he gripped tightly and tugged her away from Caetuna before using a good amount of brute force to shove her down towards the ground before summoning his axe again, letting the blade wrap in fire seeing as he could freely wield it. “Wrong move.” He said as he pointed the blade at her, inches from her face as he then took a step forward and placed his foot on her leg, ready to press down on it if she struggled, easy to snap a bone should he out all his weight on it. Scowling he spoke to Caetuna, though his eyes remained fixed on the Milite soldier. “Are you alright?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 744 Muse: Great! The woman was an easy target. Qun’mi had heard about the summoner and her babysitter, and had come to crush them. It wasn’t per say, that she thought that Cid’s army would fail. No, Qun’mi was confident that his army would succeed in invading the puny school and march on to take over Sazaku, but a summoner with this much potential had to be taken care of, just to be sure of the victory. There was no telling really what she could summon and how much. No matter the case, Qun’mi would take care of her and her little guardian boy, and do it with pleasure. Once she had seen the man she had felt a smile lift onto her features. Hell, she was hoping that he gave her some sort of challenge. Qun’mi had been watching as he had plowed right through the lower grunts. Oh, big bad man could get through the regular grunts, big deal. But could he take the higher heat of someone that actually not only knew what she was doing but excelled at it? They would see. The woman hadn’t been so bad, but it was obvious that she was weakened now.
Grabbing her, Qun’mi went to stab her in the back and end her summoning. While doing that she had her eyes on the big man and was surprised that the woman had escaped her dagger. With a slight scowl, Qun’mi went to concentrate on ending the woman when the mans attention was gained. Damn woman, calling out to him. Still, she blew the soldier a kiss to anger him, a devilish glint in her eye. Hell, he would be taken down too. Unfortunately she had missed her chance to kill the woman. She knew she should retreat then, but pride held her rooted to the spot. The next moment a large, strong hand was placed on her forearm, flipping her away from the summoner with a force she hadn’t quite been ready for. With a grunt she hit the ground, the wind knocked out from her lungs. Laying there, slightly dazed, Qun’mi saw the axe right above her face and froze slightly, feeling the boot come down on her, keeping her pinned to the ground like some grunt. "Son of a bitch," came out with a growl, she heard him as his question to the damned weak woman, who stood wide legged. “Yes Zhuyu,” came her slightly shaky reply. It was then that the woman turned and started to summon again, leaving her to the man. Snorting, Qun’mi bared her teeth up at the man. Obviously he thought he had her, but he didn’t know just who he was dealing about. She hadn’t jumped the ranks because she had a rich daddy that paid off the men in charge. No, she had made it to her rank by hard work, sharp wits and even sharper intelligence.
Reaching up her hands quickly, Qun’mi grabbed his boot and twisted, bucking her body up to twist him off her, trying to either strain or break his leg if possible. Feeling his weight remove itself from pinning her to the ground, she moved with the agility of a cat. Rolling to the side and out from under him, Qun’mi was on her hands and knees, before pushing herself off. Diving at him, Qun’mi grabbed a hold of his neck with her hands, flipping through the air and using her momentum to slam him down to the earth. Stepping back, she panted slightly, before waving him at her in a ‘come at be bro’ sort of way, wiping a bit of blood from her lip where she had bit it from being thrown to the ground. This wasn’t going to be a quick momentary fight anymore, but a fight for survival. Still, she was up for the challenge, and felt a chuckle come up to her lips. “That all you’ve got big guy? Or are you gonna actually give me a challenge? As pretty as that ass looks down there, you’d better get it off the ground if you wanna keep it.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 870 Muse:; Great! No one was going to hurt Caetuna, not so long as he was still breathing. Zhuyu was more than pissed off at the sight and sounds of an attack coming to his summoner comrade, he whipped around and instantly was in motion, taking the woman by the forearm and taking her to the ground. This was no time to play around and be the weakest link, he had the axe in her face and a pure look of seriousness – and slight anger – on his face as he kept his eyes on her, questioning Caetuna’s well being without taking his eyes off the Milite soldier woman. Scowling a bit towards the woman who had just tried killing the summoner, Zhuyu put a little more force on his boot-like shoe that was pressing down onto Qun’mi. He was not having this, grunt soldiers he would wipe out like a stack of dominoes, but he knew this wasn’t going to be an easy battle where she was done here, nope, she was obviously not a grunt soldier, but getting her away from Caetuna had been his first priority.
He was completely correct in his theory.
With his foot removed her from, Zhuyu stumbled off to the side, moving with the way she had twisted his leg so it didn’t break or fracture, he quickly regained his balance and whipped around to face her, sliding his battle axe up so his hand was closer towards the blade, he frowned, not showing much emotion on his face as he tried to size up the woman. She was quick, a good fighter, and obviously not going to be back down just yet. She’d moved fast, like a feline, and already he’d been sent into the ground with a large thud, feeling the wind nearly swoosh out of his lungs, nearly dropping his axe in the process. Damn she was strong, and Zhuyu was going to feel it later, but he was going to keep this girl occupied while Caetuna did her summoning, Qun’mi was going to get a fight, even if she didn’t want one, but judging by her words and movements, she wanted a fight just as much as Zhuyu did right now. He could provide her with one of those.
Pushing himself up to his feet, he felt a small smirk form on the corner of his lips. “Are you confident? Or cocky? Complacency will be the death of you.” He advised in a darker and more cold less feeling tone than he had used before. Taking a few slow steps towards her, he twirled his axe back and forth a bit, as if he were buying time. “What is it the Milites want with Rubrum? Let me guess, a Dictator, this…Cid Aulstyne, must be fun being a puppet, hm?” he said before flipping his axe back and grabbing the end while it was in the air, going to slam it down on the woman as he had gotten close enough, if she was as quick as she seemed to be, she probably would’ve dodged it, which is why Zhuyu wasn’t done yet. Sliding his weapon back so that his hand was closer to the blade again, he gritted his teeth before fire wrapped around the blade, and with that he sent firey recoils towards the girl. If she could dodge all of them unscathed, then he really did deserve to get defeated. Stepping backwards to avoid a close counter attack should she have survived those easily, Zhuyu waved his free hand around, moving the smoke from his vision, or trying to as he searched frantically for the Milite woman, she wasn’t going to go down easily, so instantly he started preparing his next attack, never planning them. He was a brute force, never planning out his attacks, just going with the flow and wanting to inflict as much damage as physically possible.
The Milites had no idea who they were dealing with, Zhuyu was going to show them and Caetuna as well, just how loyal to his word he was, memories of the summoner or not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 775 Muse: Great! He was a damn big man. The boot pressed down against her chest, crushing her and causing breathing to be difficult. Because of not getting enough oxygen, -as she refused to flounder and gasp like a fish out of water- Qun’mi got a bit dizzy. Damn it, she had to get him and his crushing weight off of her. He was fit, sure, but damn, did he eat rocks for breakfast, lunch, and supper? Whoever this man was – and she was really surprised that she had never heard of him or this summoner before – he was going to be taken down, but he was damned strong. Qun’mi had thought she was going after a summoner. An easy target. Someone who couldn’t take the heat of an up close and personal hand to hand combat fight. She’d run into a wall of pure anger and strength. This wasn’t something she hadn’t thought she would run into, but thankfully she was always prepared for almost any situation that was thrown at her. This one would be no different.
Grunting, she twisted his leg and went to throw him off of her. Her physical strength wasn’t nearly as much as his, but she knew that he was going to have to twist with the leg if he didn’t want it to snap. That coupled with his weight would mean that he would be off center for a short time. That was her window to turn the odds of this fight in her favor. It was a very small window. He’d got himself settled surprisingly quickly for his build, but she was faster, if only by a second. Flipping him down to the ground, Qun’mi could have attacked and ended it. If everything went according to plan of course. But he had gotten her respect quickly. She couldn’t do a cheap move like that and kill someone that had her respect. Cid would put her through the wringer if he found out, but she was a maverick in everything she did. Hell, she had a code, and that code said she would make this a fair fight. –as fair as fighting could be anyway.- Retreating a step and waiting patiently for him to get to his feet, Qun’mi stood panting and trying to regain the breath in her lungs. Damn, but that heavy boot crushing her lungs had put her out of breath.
By the time he got to his feet and spoke to her she was panting less. Giving a shrug, daggers appeared in her hands. “One goes hand in hand with the other,” she spoke. “Heed your own warnings. You’re big, brute, but are you smart too?” She stood her ground confidently as he slowly advanced, knowing she could teleport away from him at the last second. He had pure brute force on his side, but could he teleport like she could? Nope. It gave her an edge. And there he went, trying to distract her while he sundered her. It almost worked, but her quick reflexes saved her. Twirling to the side, she snapped her fingers, disappearing in a flash right before the axe would have torn her apart. She appeared to the side only a short distance away, before fire came spitting at her. Tensing her legs, Qun’mi jumped high into the air, creating a steady stream of Blizzard attacks to counter the fire, creating a slight wall around her. Still, the flames licked at her face, and she drew back slightly to clear her vision and avoid getting singed from the magic energy. Still, her leg had felt the burn, and it was already starting to ache. “And you call yourself any better then a puppet? Protecting a woman, so heroic of you,” she bit out sarcastically. “I think you’re as dumb as you are big.” The next moment she ran directly at him, daggers poised. Disappearing when only a short distance away, Qun’mi appeared behind him, taking a slash at his body before dropping down to the ground, propelling herself up with her arms to try and kick his legs out from beneath him.

Hatred was already flowing through the veins of this guardian. Anyone who dared try to harm Caetuna got the bad side of him, it was hard to forgive things such as this, and when he put his mind to something and became committed to a job, Zhuyu wasn’t going to fail, not this time. As he had pressed his weight down on her, pinning the blond to the ground, Zhuyu had taken a brief moment to check the area for any other random attackers who dared come even near him, not to be cocky or anything, but he was a brute fighter, a towering figure to many and intimidating like no other. That brief moment had been his downfall from keeping her pinned there like a tied down animal. Feeling his leg twist and even the bones within his ankle started to become strained, he had to move with the joints, twisting off of Qun’mi and regaining his footing in a few seconds after she’d escaped from under his boot. She had guts, of that he was sure, but was that really the smartest move?
Being tossed around and feeling the wind quickly rush out of his lungs, he had to admit that he’d underestimated this Milite puppet, or whatever she was. Getting back to his feet quickly though, Zhuyu was in no mood to throw hits back and forth forever, no, he needed to quickly defeat this woman and get back to his duty to guarding Caetuna, which was essentially what he was doing right now. With a bit of a subtle huff of a breath, Zhuyu rolled his eyes. Whoever said one who was brawny couldn’t have brains obviously was far too stereotypical. He was a fairly intelligent individual and Qun’mi would see that eventually, though he was more intellectual within the battle field, that’s all that really mattered at a time like this, and no matter what, this was no playground, this was Zhuyu’s zone, the place he knew better than anything, it seemed to be the only thing he really did remember from his past life, how to fight and how to win.
Starting with some fiery recoils from his battle axe, Zhuyu watched as Qun’mi had teleported a short distance, but his efforts hadn’t been a total loss. He’d seen the flames inch closer and closer towards the soldier on the other side, but never thought much of it, he was already processing a new attack as she spoke, calling him dumb like the immature usually did. “I’m no hero.” He spoke darkly, his teeth gritting slightly through those words as he thought about the fact that Caetuna had died due to the fact that he had failed to protect her fully, but…that needed to be pushed out of his mind if he was going to win and walk away unscathed. Watching her though, he knew this was not going to be an easy battle at all, of that he was absolutely sure, just by the way she moved and spoke already he could tell that this one was fierce and a fighter unlike any other, still…not impossible to take down for a guardian such as himself.
Feeling the graze of a blade against his back – against the armor he wore beneath his jacket, he jerked forward a bit and let one hand drop to catch himself before he nearly flung himself to the side to avoid having his legs kicked out from under him. His dark black eyes burned into the blond as he twisted over and went to slam his axe right where she was with the blunt end to try and whack her away without chopping her in half, whether it hit her or not, he was planning another attack, if he could get her grounded then it’d be good. Getting up from his stumbles of twisting around – which wasn’t what he was necessarily used to – he straightened up and shifted his weight around, stepping back and analyzing everything happened, ready to knock this girl from here to kingdom come. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 768 Muse: Great!
