How long had it been since leaving Baron? Probably a week or so. Constance was tired of traveling up and down nonstop for the past few days and decided it would be best to take a break, take a few days to rest up, eat up and then get going once more. Where was the best place to stop, none other than her very own town of Kaipo, or at least just outside Kaipo away from the desert and dry lands. Here it was much more green, peaceful and small. Constance had missed the small town life, but she really did like the adventure of being elsewhere for once instead of stuck at home like her mother had preferred, as had her father and brother, but they weren’t in the picture right now…so there was really only one person she had to face and get a good scolding from for the time being. That was not something she was prepared to take, not yet at least.
Stretching up onto her tip toes after sliding off the back of Skeiron, Constance worked her ankle around which felt better by now, she was able to walk without a limp in her step which was nice, less of a cripple for now until the next tragic accident came along, like she were to trip over something. Rolling her shoulders a bit, Constance then gazed at the small house in the distance. Surrounded by other small homes and shops, a small inn as well, she then took a few steps inwards towards the small subcity within Kaipo. It was home to her, and hopefully the messenger she’d sent to Baron to retrieve her horse, Rio, had done a good job and made some time. Placing her hands on her hips she felt a smile appear on her face. It’d been a good month or so since she’d left, looking for her father and brother, but now she was back, but only for a short time, simply just to check in, get scolded, and then get going again after a day or so. Kain would surely enjoy the rest as well, a bit of relaxation time in between flights on dragons and searching anywhere and everywhere.
“Well, this is home. It’s not much, but it’s quite enough for me. I just want you to be aware that my…household is in a fragile state right now, so I want to apologize for anything ahead of time.” Constance said over her shoulder towards the dragoon that had accompanied her thus far, which she appreciated greatly, had she still gone by herself on horseback or on foot, she would’ve been ten times slower than Skeiron’s abilities. She wasn’t sure at first that the dragon flying thing was going to work out, she’d been scared out of her wits at first, clinging to dear life, and now she felt completely comfortable with the idea of flying. Still, she was a down to earth girl as it was, both literally and metaphorically. “Skeiron will be okay out here I’m sure, no one around here usually has a need to attack something big unless it attacks first.” She said with a small shrug before trailing off towards the home that was hers, it was then she saw a black and white figure emerge from the backside of the house where the stables were. Her face turned a few shades paler, seeing Rio run up to her with a whinny and a shake of his head. Placing one hand on the horse’s nose area, silvery eyes were glued to the door that suddenly flung open.
Oh god.
“CONSTANCE DE VRIES! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?” Connie flinched a little at the sound of her full name, hiding halfway behind her horse before emerging, putting a bright and pearly white smile on her face as she approached the small porch like area where her fair haired mother stood, hands on her hips, and giving off the most worried yet angry expression. Connie felt like a little child again, but seeing as she was twenty one, this shouldn’t be bothering her. “You’ve had me worried sick for the past MONTH young lady. I want and explanation and I want it now.” She demanded. Constance lifted her free hand from the horse’s nose and face and rubbed the back of her neck. “Well, you see…I went to go find pops, and-“ “They aren’t coming hom- And who’s this?” Constance’s face turned only a shade pinker than she was used to. Great, she’d spotted Kain. “You brought a friend home? How sweet.” Constance’s mother made no hesitation as he started for the dragoon, her bright smile showing just as much as Connie’s had before. “Lauren De Vries, and you are?” she said extending a hand towards Kain, Constance just stood behind her light haired mother and watched her like a hawk, waiting for the explosion of embarrassment to occur.
