It was their anniversary? And where on Gaia was Reno?
Standing in front of her full length mirror, Cissnei turned and studied her profile once more, smoothing down her white shirt. She would have dressed up fancier for her anniversary, but honestly, Cissnei didn't have the desire to be in completely uncomfortable clothes for that long, no matter what day it was. So she looked as classy as she could while still remaining in the safety of her jeans. Moving here and there to look at herself, she nodded approvingly. Well…her stomach was big, but at least her butt still looked trim. That, or so she had heard, was normal for women that were carrying their first child. And unless she had twelve more kids hiding in the closet that she didn’t know about, this was definitely her first. She could feel it, most days, in every part of her body. From her head, all the way down to her toes. Aching back, aching ribs from this child prodding her with its toes, (or so she imagined in her head) aching everything. The sooner this child came into the world, the better. Still, Cissnei had a month and a half to go until she was due. That…was great. Patting her stomach affectionately, she smiled down at her overly large stomach. “Come fast little one. I’d like my body, my job, and my health back.”Lifting her pink scarf up, Cissnei draped it around her neck and checked the clock on the wall for the time.
He wasn’t late…yet. She did expect him to be delayed though. Cissnei had simply been impressed when he had actually remembered. Then again, he should with how many times she had reminded him in the past week. Every day she had managed to slip into a conversation what they were going to do for their anniversary. She’d played it off as just being excited, and she was, but she also figured that he would forget if she didn’t remind him. And thankfully for him, she wasn’t one to try and set him up for failure. Besides, she would much rather have a fun evening that would lead to something else, then having a night where she got to be mad because he had forgotten that today was their one year anniversary.
How had they lived through an entire year? With all that had happened, Cissnei was surprised that not only their marriage was living, but that they themselves were alive still. She loved her husband, but it was hard when he was ‘dead’ for months, and then the stress of being pregnant. Well, it was a lot to take in, that was for sure. She was glad everything had smoothed out though. And even with being cooped up for the last few months and being driven a little bit crazy, she had managed to find things to do so that she could remain entertained and not go insane. Office work helped. People seemed to like that she would do their office work for them so that they could catch up on a bit more sleep, and she felt a bit more productive, so it worked out better for both sides. Reno especially she didn’t mind doing paper work for, so that he could have a little more free time to spend with her. Like tonight. Though if Tseng had said no to him getting the night off, Cissnei would have marched right up to his office, rapped on the door, and given him what for about it. No one messed up her anniversary night, especially since she had planned to take them on the restaurant they had first gone on a date on, and then camping out on the rooftop like old times and counting stars. And what happened later…well, knowing Reno, she knew what that would be.
Moving a strand of hair here, and another strand there, she fussed over her general appearance and then yawned, meandering out the door and down toward their living room. With both of their salaries being good – even with her on ‘leave’ for the last two months – they could afford a fairly nice apartment to live in. She was glad that they had two rooms. The one had already been all done up and ready for a baby. With the crib and everything. Really, the entire house had already been childproofed. Perhaps she was a bit premature about the whole ordeal, but Cissnei couldn’t help but be excited. That meant that the toilet had this lock thing that you had to get out before you could open it, and the stairs leading from the living room to their ‘upper level’, where the master bedroom and office/library was, had been fitted with a little gates so that the child couldn’t go up or down. Stepping down the steps, she undid the latch and walked out, shutting it behind her and walking over toward the piano she had asked Reno for. Or...asked if it would be alright if she got it anyway. Another thing she was doing in her spare time. Learning to play the piano, becoming a bit of a chef, reading every book they had had on child rearing, and taking a class on art. It filled the long hours that had previously been filled by work. You didn’t have much time to do any of those things when you were a Turk. And she was enjoying her time to do the things she had never had a chance to do. Like sit down and read a book if she wanted to, though she found herself training at the ShinRa headquarters simulation machine at times, just to make sure she still had her skills with her shuriken and gun, tending to stay away from martial arts because it made her already aching back ache more.
For right now though, she simply sat down by her piano, placed her notes up on the stand, and started to quietly play a song she had learned, waiting for her husband to arrive so they could go out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1231 Muse:; Great Tagged:; Reno Location:; Apartment :3 Outfit:; Click heeere!Notes:; The cute/sad x.x Also, their apartment has these stairs...because I said so And because I'm obsessed with wraparound stairs! He was going to be late.
Reno had been working longer more exteme hours than he'd ever imagined possible. He wanted to pretty much pick up the slack for Cissnei and to make sure they had enough gil to maintain the lifestyle they wanted. He was pretty much working the amount that two turks would've taken up, that was dedication right there. It was to the point where the red head got an average of...three to four hours of sleep a night, it was tiresome of course, but the paycheck - with no recent paydocks - was worth the lack of sleep. Once the baby came then...oh man was he going to never sleep again. Already it was amazing how well he'd been able to function lately, do good work, have a drink or two - or a billion - at the bar and STILL make time for his wife. Damn impressive to anyone who knew what his schedule was these days. Reno was finally growing up...sort of. How proud would Cissnei be of him? Well it was clear that he was prepping himself to be a father, and a good one at that, unlike what most people may think.
Scrambling in his office, Reno had the door shut as he had changed his shirt and tried to make himself look more presentable. After all, one needed to look damn good on your anniversary. Who would've thought this day, or even a year ago this day would've happened? With all the problems Reno and Cissnei had previously, you'd think they never would've worked out. But hey, love was a roller coaster ride, there were ups and downs, and if you worked hard enough through the tough times even when you felt like giving up...then you knew in the end that a marrige was going to last. It was hard to imagine that this time a year ago, Reno's brand was almost completely progressed, he'd gained Diablos upon his branding and even to this day the faithful summon stayed by his side...still...who would've thought that he would get a second chance? That was probably another reason for Reno stepping up and maturing even only slightly...he didn't want to take his second chance at life for granted.
"Damn damn damn damn damn." The red head mumbled under his breath quickly has his hands fumbled with a tie, trying to get it properly but...that probably wasn't going to happen. He never wore a tie for work...why start now? "Forget it." He mumbled before tossing the tie behind him towards his desk, running a hand through his messy hair, grazing over his goggles as they were still strapped around his forehead. Flinging them off and tossing them onto his desk, Reno whirled around and looked at the mess in his office. Papers and files all over, his suit jacket, goggles, thrown tie...it was all there. He moaned unhappily at the thought of finishing up a few more assignments, but as he was ready to bulldoze through them, he heard loud knocks at his door, followed by someone entering, a blond someone. It made him groan again, just...not as horribly loud. "What do ya want, Elena?"
The blond turk placed her hands across her chest, giving a small sincere smile, why not be nice to Reno at least two days out of the year? If not for his sake, than for Cissnei's. Elena had nothing against the small motherly turk, so this was a favor to her...indirectly. "Don't you have an anniversary dinner to be going to, Reno? Go home, take Cissnei out and treat her good. I'll...finish up here for you." She offered, gesturing towards the mess of papers laying across Reno's desk. The astonished look that crossed Reno's face was utterly priceless. It was hard to believe that Elena would offer herself up to doing Reno's work. Maybe since she had sort of...oh what was it Cissnei said...given Ethan 'the look', maybe she wasn't quite as...dull? She seemed a bit happier these days, that was nice, but who knew how long that would last. Blinking for a second, not having replied just yet, Reno was still so shocked at the offer as he stared at the waiting Elena. Coughing a bit and pulling himself from his daze, Reno finally spoke. "Are you serious? I mean...If ya are...I'd really REALLY appreciate it 'Lena." he said just as sincerely as she had spoken to him. "Then get going! And next time...ask Rude or myself to help you with a tie."
And that was that! Reno grabbed his belongings and zoomed out of the ShinRa building, running like a maniac with a bag over his shoulder trying to make it back to their apartment in a timely manner, Reno said he'd be there to take Cissnei out around seven. It was two minutes until seven...he was going to be late. Well, maybe a couple minutes late, but Reno didn't look at the time as a failure...more like a challenge, and that's when he picked up his pace, huffing as he ran along. He'd rounded corners evaded people and spotted the apartment complex - more like freaking condos - and made a rush for full speed ahead. Adjusting the bag over his shoulder he pushed his hand against the door, flying through the building, taking the stairs rather than the elevator. Moving he spotted his aparment number on the door, charging forward and dishing his keys from his pocket, he ran into the door dead on. Feeling an instant throb against his head, he took a step back, feeling so winded and so tired already, he carefully unlocked the door and flew inside, nearly stumbling over his own two feet. Listening carefully, Reno picked up on a sound he was starting to know well. Keys of a piano being struck. Well...hopefully she wasn't noticing the time, that's when he took a glance at his watch. Only two minutes late. Fantastic!
Setting his bag down on a nearby sofa, Reno peeked around the corner from one room to the next, spotting his chestnut haired wife seated at her piano. Smiling, he moved oh so silently back to his back, pulling out a box and placing it in his pocket before sneaking around again. He'd snuck up behind Cissnei before seating himself on the player's bench that she was sitting on, leaning backwards as he sat opposite her and just rested his elbows against the keys, making an awful noise come from the instrument. "That was some beautiful music you were playin' but not quite as beautiful as my date for tonight." the charming smile emerged then. Sitting up and finally standing up as well, Reno turned and faced Cissnei, a grin on his face even with how winded and physically exhausted he now was. Cissnei had actually begun to enjoy this life of being more of a housewife. It was something, at first, that had been so weird, so unexpected and different, that she almost hadn’t been able to stand it. After all, her entire life had been training for nothing but to become a Turk. And that was what she was. Cissnei was a Turk. Through and through. She was used to fighting, thinking critically in regards to missions, and not having to deal with things like cooking, house hold duties or anything like that. But once she had gotten pregnant and had been forced to not go on missions any longer, she had decided that she had to do it now. For a while she had just been overwhelmed with being unable to be productive in her eyes. She had learned a bit later, though, that she could still be productive, just in different ways. Now she would have to be like that through making sure the house was spotless, making better meals then Reno had probably ever had from a home before. And of course, there was always that ability to do things like paperwork for others. Kylie had appreciated the few times she’d helped her, and the rest had all been benefited as well.
While she thought she continued to play the few pieces that she knew well. Cissnei had always loved the sound of the piano, but hadn’t gotten the chance to play it until just now in her lifetime. That was almost hard to believe, how someone could go close to twenty four years and never play an instrument that they liked. That was how it went when you were a Turk though. You simply, had a job to do that seemed to consume a lot of your life. She hoped once she actually had the child and had her body back, that she would be able to go back to her old life a bit more, though she would like to continue to have these skills. Cooking, piano playing. They weren’t very big or significant, but they really were relaxing. She would love to continue with it.
Closing her eyes and really getting into playing, Cissnei was so surprised she jumped a bit when the weird noise came. Blinking, she turned her gaze to see her charming husband sitting there with his elbows behind him. He looked nice. Very nice. Smiling affectionately at him, Cissnei reached over and brushed a bit of fuzz off his jacket, before he stood back up. Doing the same –somewhat awkward in her movements – Cissnei leaned forward to give him a kiss in greeting. “My, don’t we look handsome tonight,” she commented with a smile.
At his question, she nodded. “Of course, let me just go grab my shoes,” she said as she walked away, going toward the door. Eying up her shoes, Cissnei peered from them to her feet, and then slowly bent down. Darn belly, getting in the way of living. Stretching, she managed to get them from where they were and slip them on, standing back up, a little short of breath. How this managed to tire her out… Though she made sure never to complain about it. With how much Reno was working, practically all the time, she couldn’t really say anything. Besides, he was managing to juggle work as well as taking care of her, so she really thought the world of her husband. “Ready?”, she asked cheerfully, her bright crimson eyes watching him as she waited by the door. He did look a bit tired. Perhaps she shouldn’t drag them out on the roof tonight and should just bring him back and let him sleep more then he would be able to otherwise. That would probably be good for him, seeing as how she wasn’t even quite sure how he managed to live on how little sleep he got. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 841 Muse:; Good! At least Elena had been nice enough to help him out some. Reno wasn’t going to be too late, and he knew Cissnei wouldn’t be made at him or anything, she’d known he was running himself quite thin lately, it was amazing he was even going through with all of this tonight. Sure it was an anniversary, especially a first one to be celebrating, but it probably would’ve been completely understandable had Reno wanted to stay home and just have a nice evening at home. Nope, that wasn’t happening. He’d taken into account her opinion, and the opinion of other women he’d talked to about what it was he should do, and this was what the plan was. He was going to take her to that restaurant they went to on their first date. He was going to basically have her walk down memory lane with him, the good memories, never the bad, even though sometimes those memories still lingered.
Having made his approach very quiet, Reno was glad to see her small jump at his sudden noise from his elbows pressing on the piano keys. Chuckling a bit at her, he gave her a charming smile in return for hers, as well as her compliment. She looked absolutely wonderful. She’d gone through her stages through this pregnancy it seemed. There were days where she looked sicker than a dog, days where she was cranky, and days where the drop of a hat would make her cry…but today, she looked positively glowing, not to mention she seemed to be in the best of moods he’d seen her in lately. “Never in comparison to you though.” He assured her with a grin after a greeting kiss, putting the compliment back to her and making it better. Shifting himself around on his feet, as much as he wanted to sit around like a bum, he turned and waited, asking if she was ready to get going. The sooner they got out, the more likely he would be to do all the things she wanted to do tonight without complaints.
“Alright.” He said with a small nod, trailing after her towards the door and watching only in slight amusement at her trying to get her shoes on. He was going to go over and offer to assist her, but right as he opened his mouth to say something, she’d seemed to have gotten it all figured out. With an adoring look on his face as she turned to him, Reno nodded in agreement and moved in close behind her, opening the door with a quick movement and stepping to the side to let her out first – it was the gentlemanly thing to do after all. After getting outside of the apartment, he closed the door and was sure to lock it before pocketing his set of keys and putting an arm around his wife’s waist. Though she was pregnant, she was still very tiny, there was no difficulty here for Reno. “Are you hungry? I’m pretty sure we’ve got a nice night ahead, Cissnei.” He commented happily, feeling a bit less tired than he was a few minutes ago. There was something to look forward to, making Cissy happy and making sure their first anniversary was something worth remembering. So far, just by her attitude Reno would remember it. He hadn’t seen her this happy in a long time, not that he could blame her. The whole pregnancy thing came with its negatives, didn’t it? Oh well, she sure was doing well these days, he had to give her a lot of credit for dealing with it, as well as him for a husband.
A smirk at that last thought, Reno just looked at Cissnei, feeling a nice sense of relaxation as they had moved from the apartment complex to the outdoors. It was still pretty nice and warm outside, had it been chilly, Reno probably would’ve gotten a protective complex going and gotten Cissnei a winter coat or something, but luckily he was doing what he could to relax and not worry a whole bunch, she’d probably appreciate that just as much as he did. It would only take a few minutes of walking to get the restaurant, it was simply a few blocks away…it’d give the couple a chance to talk a bit before the focus would be on food. There always seemed to be something to talk about whenever they had the chance, especially since Reno was always working and by the time he got home, Cissnei would be asleep. This was definitely the time to catch up, on everything. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 879 Muse: Great! Tagged: Cissy! Reno was quite the charmer. Cissnei had never really desired compliments as much as she did now. She wasn’t quite sure what to blame it on either. In her younger years, she hadn’t even known how to accept a compliment, let alone feel like she needed them. She was just Cissnei, an elite Turk that knew her stuff and looked at the world in the view of black and white. Reno and Rude had helped to change her perspective of things, but even then she really hadn’t needed any sort of compliments, and hadn’t expected any. Now though, she seemed to need them. Partially, or mostly, she was sure, because of the way she was right now. Pregnancy sure did make you awkward and feel ugly and fat, feelings she had never had to quiet deal with until now. Cissnei wasn’t sure what to make of it, but she did know that she drank up the compliments he gave her, and craved them. So unlike her normal personality.
So she just laughed and kissed him. “It’s a good thing that you compliment me, or I might just be even more crazy with this whole fat pregnancy thing.” Cissnei didn’t normally feel inadequate in any way, but she sure had once her belly had started to show, and worried about what Reno had thought of that. Time helped with that, because Cissnei could figure out that Reno wasn’t going to up and think her horrid just because she had gained a few pounds around the middle. Besides, it was normal that she did so, and he was a big part of the reason that she was pregnant anyway. It took two. And it was his child. Weren’t men supposed to like their own child, in that whole ‘I need to have a legacy’ thing that they all seemed to go through? Well, it made sense anyway. Or so she thought. But now though, she wasn’t quite so worried as she had been at one time. He would have definitely gone if he had any intentions of doing so, and she was a lot better at controlling her emotions and mood swings that came with the changing hormones, and hardly ever got depressed, though she did find herself still being a bit more emotional and things hurting more than they should. Still, she had learned to control them a lot better too.
When she looked at him after she got her shoes on, she was struck by the look he had on his face. There was a look of adoration there that made her blush. He’d given her that look plenty of times, but she still loved getting it just as much now as she had every other time that she had seen it. Giving him a smile that even lit up her eyes, Cissnei turned to walk out the door and then waited for him to do the same. Snuggling up against his side when he put his arm around her thick waist, she tucked her arm in his shoulder and glanced up at him. “Me? Hungry? You should know Reno, that I never get hungry,” she teased lightly. Cissnei knew that she ate more now than she had ever eaten in the past, and had eaten his ice cream and much more than that. She seemed to crave food more now too, then she ever had in the past. “At least not if I get a snack every twenty minutes.”, she concluded afterwards, her eyes twinkling.
Walking slowly, Cissnei took in a breath of fresh air, and then glanced up toward the sky. “Have you thought of any names you like? I like something that starts with Z.”, she said softly. Cissnei’s next ultrasound would make them able to figure out if it was a boy or a girl, or so the doctor said, and she was just about as excited as possible. They were coming to the end of this whole thing. Only a month left to go until her due date. With the date approaching quickly, there was even less time to think of names. So…she was actually going to have to think about it, instead of putting it off like she had been doing. How terrible would it be to be at the hospital and not have a name for the baby? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 920 Muse:; Great! Hell yeah Reno was a charmer! He was doing better with that whole…think before you speak thing, thought it didn’t always work well, but hey! At least he was trying, right? He knew what to say to Cissnei at least, how to sweep her off her feet with his words. It was a goal, an everyday goal actually. Seeing her face light up anytime he gave her a nice comment or compliment on something she did…it was pretty much worth any effort he put forth to give her said compliment. He gave her a small grin at her words, he knew she deserved the compliments, not only would they make her feel better during this pregnancy thing, but everything he said was also true. Even with a larger size to her – well duh, she was going to be having a baby soon – Reno still loved her and thought she was beautiful no matter what. Not that he’d EVER admit that out loud around the guys, it was for Cissnei’s ears only, after all…he was still an ass to a lot of people!
Typical Reno.
“Of course I compliment you! But I do it because I mean what I say, not just trying to make you feel better, even thought that too is a win.” He said with a small shrug, a smirk on his face as he was clearly ready to get the evening started off right. He wanted to make sure this first year was something special, with all the hardships they’d been through a nice celebration of their loyalty to one another…it was definitely needed. Heading out the door, an arm around Cissnei’s waist, her still pretty tiny waist, Reno just flashed a smile at her. He chuckled a bit at her sarcastic yet playful words, she was definitely in a good mood and that was a big key to this evening. So long as she stayed like that, everything would be fine. “Right right. You don’t need to remind me. After all…I’m still waiting on my ice cream. After…how many months now?” he said with a mock thoughtful look on his face, as if he were counting back to the exact day, minute, second…but damn! That guy still hadn’t gotten anything sweet…pregnant women and their sense of happiness in terms of food.
Walking outside, taking a slow pace just to give them some time to enjoy the air and converse along the way. Reno looked towards Cissnei as she spoke again, her question having not really thrown him off guard, but it certainly gave him a run for his money. He’d been thinking of names, nothing tacky like…Reno Junior. Or…Reno the Second. That would be the biggest pun seeing as he was second in command. See what I did there? But…if it were a girl…he wasn’t really sure. Having a generic name was boring. Look at Reno and Cissnei? Their names were highly unique, why shouldn’t their kid continue the trend? Listening to her, he nodded thoughtfully, no longer making it a mock look as he thought of names with a Z. “Well…that’s definitely something ya don’t see every day.” He shrugged slightly, his eyes turning upwards to glance towards the night sky as he continued to think. Z. What names started with Z?
All he could think of was Zebras. And no, that was not an acceptable name.
Shaking his head with a small shrug of his shoulders, his blue-green eyes turned down towards Cissnei again. “I like the Z idea, it’s just hard to think of a name ya know? We could always…mesh something…if it’s a girl we could go with…Zaylee...Zoey? And if it’s a boy…or a girl…there’s Zayden? Kind of like Hayden but with your Z.” he said with a charming smile in her direction. He’d never really been the type to think hard about much of anything unless it came to his job as a Turk and even then that beautiful brain of his was hardly used, but this…this was something to think about, names and his future, it was a lot to wrap his head around even still. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 811 Muse: Great! Cissnei laughed when he contemplated how long he had been waiting for his ice cream. “You’re silly.”, she said with a smile. That day had been a really nice one, all that time ago. Had it really been that long ago that her ice cream had plummeted to the floor and he had offered her his. Those kinds of moments were the ones that she had tried to keep in her mind. She could still feel herself unable to resist smiling when she thought of that. As much of an ass as Reno was to the rest of society, he had always been nice to her. Kylie had once asked her why she had gone for Reno, almost in wonderment. Cissnei often wondered if that was the reaction of most people. Well…even if he could be a jerk to them, he was kind to her, and always had been. Perhaps because she had already been in ShinRa when Reno had joined. That could definitely be it, since…well, she hadn’t exactly been the friendliest person back then, thinking everyone was out to get you. It was hard hating someone you had reformed into a new person.
Teasing soon led into something serious. Cissnei wanted their childs name to be a good one. Perhaps unique was a better word to use. There was a million Mary’s running around, but how often did you see children with unique names? Perhaps that was why she had stuck with Cissnei for so long instead of her real name. It was a unique name, and it fit her. She was no longer the girl that had the other name, she was the woman that had been Cissnei since joining ShinRa. When she had been younger she had wondered why she had to give up her name, whereas now she actually thought of herself as Cissnei, and not as that other girl. She always would be Cissnei too.
She was surprised that Reno actually seemed serious about a name too, and had dropped all his teasing as well. Cissnei walked arm in arm, resting her head on his shoulder while they went. She didn’t want a name that someone would hear and not know who they were talking about. No, she wanted a name for her child where someone said the name and everyone knew who they were talking about. A name that started with Z would work well for that, wouldn’t it? For some reason she had always liked names that started with odd letters like that. She liked the two he said at first, but something…well, it didn’t seem right, but when he mentioned Zayden, she instantly found herself nodding. “I really like Zayden!” And she really did. Reno had done well.
Things were finally going so well! Cissnei had no care in the world as she walked beside her husband. Everything had been going, and would continue to go well, she was sure of it! How could anything bad happen when there was absolutely nothing to make them think that there was anything on the horizon but good? Smiling, Cissnei inhaled a deep breath and looked over at Reno. “This is going so fast.”, she commented almost in surprise. How had things went from going so slow to seemingly flying by? Cissnei could wait to hold their child in her arms and smile at it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 782 Muse:; Good! Tagged:; Reno Location:; Edge street Outfit:; That one! This was going to be a great evening, Reno could already tell. Things were going good so far, and even though he was exhausted, it was all worth it just to see Cissnei so happy and upbeat. He could see the mighty changes in her mood these days, from good to bad, it wasn’t easy to miss. Sometimes she’d be stubborn and very mother-like, you know, like normal, and other times she’d cry at the drop of a hat…it was amazing Reno hadn’t broken down himself, but that was the life of being married and starting a family, the emotional wife that he had to suffer with- er…live with, for nine months give or take a few weeks. This though, she was pleasant, like most of the other times he was around her, and it just made things all better. Had she been even the tiniest bit upset at him being a few minutes late, he would’ve easily seen the night take a turn for the worst…but it was a good day, both of them were in a mildly good mood.
“Of course I’m silly, always have been.” The redhead chuckled a bit towards Cissnei’s words, a good mood indeed. But not all of the conversation would get silly remarks from Reno, in fact, at the point of thinking of names for this child, Reno had been fairly serious. He was pretty straightforward and serious when it came to that kid, he wanted to be a good parent, a role model, but let’s face the facts…he wasn’t exactly an adult mentally. Probably still roaming around in his teenage years somewhere, reckless and fun-loving as ever, which was why it was a great thing Cissnei was so motherly already, but even still, not one person could say Reno couldn’t be serious at the right times. He was going to try, and all the attempts he’d make…you’d have to give him some credit, right? “Zayden does kind of roll off the tongue better…” he said with his words trailing off, a small quirky smile forming on his lips. He’d just picked out a name that Cissnei seemed to love, that was one accomplishment for him thus far.
Walking arm in arm with Cissnei, Reno heard her next words before slowing his pace some, looking to his side and down at her for a moment. Shrugging his shoulders a bit, he shot her a small grin. “Savor the moments, someone once told me that as you get older…the faster time goes.” He said almost completely seriously, if not for that smile he shot her, that one she loved. Looking straight ahead again, he still kept his pace slow so that they weren’t rushing, especially now that she had mentioned things were going fast, and really, they were. Married, kids, and what next would be on the list? For the first time in a long time, Reno was starting to feel old. He was twenty-six years old, nearly twenty-seven in a few months, and he was feeling old. His midlife crisis was probably going to come early in the next few years, especially with a kid running around. He simply shook his head at the thought. “We’ve still got a long way to go, many years ahead of us.” He nodded to confirm his own thoughts to himself.
Something was a bit off though. No Cissnei, nor himself. But he noticed the street was a bit quieter than usual. It wasn’t late, nor was it terrible weather outside, but there just seemed to be a lack of people on the streets. Perhaps it was a coincidence, or maybe Reno was just getting an eerie feeling about all of this, almost something that felt familiar, or maybe it was his tired mind playing tricks on him. He pushed those thoughts into the back of his mind, feeling a twisting in the pit of his stomach as he then reached a hand forward and pointed towards their destination, the restaurant they’d been on their first date together. “We’re just ‘bout there.”
Still, something was wrong. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 802 Muse: Great! Tagged: Cissy! Wearing: Already linked Listening To: Something! Notes: They can/should get attacked before any happiness happens because...we're mean like that?
