Running as fast as her legs would take her, Chloe was fleeing from a group of enemy treasure hunters...if one could even call them that. Thieves was more like it. Shifting the small backpack she had slung over her shoulder, Chloe checked behind her, the thieves still on her tail as she moved through the market place of Rozarria with extreme speed and the swift movements like a feline. Leaping carefully over a small cart, she continued through the crowd of people, trying to figure out how to lose the bozos and get away from here. Chloe had gil to collect for this treasure she had gone and gotten. It was never easy going through the wilderness and ancient ruins to find these things, it took skills...skills other people obviously didn't have, and that is why they hired Chloe Frayzer, a well known and very successful treasure hunter.
Taking a sharp left, out of the market area and down a separate alley way, Chloe looked behind her, the men still behind her and keeping up really well. It was then she noticed one of them throw something. Over her head the object went and landed in her path. She had too much momentum going to slow down, her eyes widening as she neared the object, it was then she clearly saw what it was. A grenade. Hearing the beeping as she nearly stepped on it, it stopped as she was right on top of it. She shouted and leaped and dove for the ground away from the grenade. "NO!" The grenade blast only knocked dirt and dust towards Chloe, not doing much damage, and the dust filled air gave her a moment to scramble back to her feet and start off again down the alley way, this time pulling her pistol from its holster and aiming back for the men.
Firing off a few warning shots, Chloe waited, huffing breaths as she continued to run, her lungs on fire, but instead of the men backing off...they fired off shots of their own, nearly hitting her in the back, but luckily she was quick enough to weave between the shots. Putting her pistol back where it belonged in her holster, she adjusted the single strap of her backpack once more before reaching back and unclipping her RPG-7 from it's holster strap on her back. With jittery hands she made sure it was loaded and ready, still running and moving as needed before twisting around and stopping herself from moving, aiming for the ground and firing off one of the rockets, causing the wall next to it to collapse and block the path she had been taking. She could hear cursing on the other side and that brough a smug smile to the Rozarrian's face. Success.
Turning to trot forward - with less speed - Chloe had a bounce to her step, feeling awfully accomplished already. As she grinned, it was then she felt something collide with her side and take her down to the ground. With aa grunt she felt someone on top of her, one of the thieves who had taken a different route and thought it would be easy to just beat her down and take the treasure. Nope! Not at all! Scowling, Chloe shifted a knee around and shoved it into the gut of her attacker before getting up to her feet and starting to run again, dusting off her clothes as she did so. "Can no one take a damn hint?!" she hissed through her teeth, getting her pistol again and looking over her shoulder, but as she was ready to fire...she fell.
It felt like free falling, Chloe wasn't sure what to make of it, everything was unrecognizable, nothing was normal and Rozarria...well she wasn't in Rozarria anymore. With a yelp as she fell, she clutched onto her bag and pistol for dear life, black hair whipping around her face as she closed her eyes tight, waiting for the impact with whatever ground lay before her. After a few moments, she flopped onto her stomach onto a cold ground, instantly sending shivers up her spine...but hey, at least she didn't end up a big blob all over the floor. Opening her eyes and blinking to adjust to the knew light, Chloe moved around until she was up on her feet once more. This...looked like a warehouse. Like where she usually got her missions and brought back the treasure...but it wasn't in the style of anything Ivalice, in fact it looked bare and dusty. This was not Ivalice whatsoever, and the only thing Chloe had to say on the subject was "Damn."
Walking around the seemingly vacant room, Chloe spotted a small box, a wooden box. It didn't look like anything special, but being a treasure hunter, she was immediately curious. With a small 'hmm' sound buzzing between her lips, she kneeled down before sitting herself completely on the ground in a criss cross style. She pulled the box onto her lap and lifted the lid revealing all sorts of colorful orbs. She'd never seen anything like it before, the pale colors were mesmerizing. Lifitng a green looking one, she held it up to eye level and just stared at it in awe, unable to figure out what it was. Whatever these things were, she wanted them, and she was going to keep them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 991 Muse: Fantastic! Tagged: Yuffie Wearing: Will link later! [/img] Shoes slapped lightly against the ground, as Yuffie sprinted. This had been her third heist that week, and she was on a major roll. While her main objective was materia, she would sometimes steal other items. Potions, elixirs, anything. Nothing was safe with the Great Ninja Yuffie around! Every thing that could be stolen, would be stolen. Simple as. Nothing could ever be entirely safe, anyway. Everything had it's dangers. Doing anything had it's dangers. But that's why she stole. It gave her a thrill. She wasn't an adrenaline junkie, but everybody liked a thrill in their life.
Yuffie looked behind her, and realized that her 'thief victims' weren't following her anymore. She stopped, and dashed into the nearest building. She had visited here a few times, but that was it. She had only stumbled upon it a week or so ago, and it provided a close access to her heist locations. So, she had 'adopted' it, of sorts. She pushed open the entrance, and leant against the wall. Her hand gripped a small blue bag, and she shook it. A quiet clunk came, and a grin spread across her face. Two bottles. Of what they contained, she wasn't entirely sure.
Yuffie walked over to a small table, and she emptied the contents. Two bottles came out. One with a green liquid, the other with a blue liquid. They felt cold to the touch, and she was sure somebody would know something about it. If not, she could always make some money off them in the market. She flicked one of the glass bottles, and smirked at the 'ping' it made. Good quality glass. Even if the liquid was useless, good glass bottles were always good. Yuffie sat down on the floor, a little tired from all that running.
With a pulsing sound, Yuffie raised an eyebrow, and stood up, looking around. A portal? She crouched on her tiptoes, and peeked around the table. From her position, she couldn't just see a portal. She could see a person as well, a woman. Or at least, somebody older than her. She looked for her shuriken, and gripped it, just in case this person was a threat. She doubted it, but better safe than sorry. She released a slow breath, and she smiled, a little curious. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 400 Muse:; Ok! Escaping those guys hadn’t been easy, but with the help of the portal, Chloe had made it away from nearly getting shot or worse. Sometimes the bad things in life were the things you needed to thank. Portals were never good, leading to different places that didn’t hold any significance towards your own world…it just…it was a big mess, that’s what. Sitting on the ground in this warehouse, Chloe had the wooden box in her lap, looking at the pastel colored orbs in her hands and having a somewhat mesmerized look on her face. This was really pretty, and she was sure one of these orbs would be worth a pretty penny, or something even more depending on what it is. She had connections back in Rozarria and pretty much all over Ivalice, she could get someone to figure out what this was instead of leaving her in the dark. Who knows, they might be worth a fortune, or they could be worth jacks squat, whatever it was, she hoped she found more while she was here.
Placing the orb back in its original spot, Chloe snapped the box shut and looked around, seeing a table, some bottles on top of it and hearing nothing. Narrowing her eyes and bit she rose to her feet and sighed, tucking the box under one arm as she did her best to stretch and adjust her holsters in all the places they rested on her belt and back. She was quite comfortable, aside from being only slightly out of breath from running and dodging grenades, all that other fun stuff, but as she wandered over towards the table, the colored fluids inside the bottles caught her attention too. Whatever they were, they were either important or dangerous, that meant someone was here, someone was either working here or residing here. She kept quiet, looking around and moving around the table some, her free hand grazing against the table top before she nearly stepped on someone crouching around the table. With a small startled yelp, the Rozarrian woman stepped back, nearly toppling over as she did so but continued to clutch at the box now with both hands. “Woah there!” she called when stepping back.
Feeling her heart rate slow down a bit from her near heart attack, Chloe let out a sigh and looked back down at the dark haired girl, a few years younger than she, but still…god damn had that scared the hell out of her! Who just snoops around a table corner? Not that she would blame the girl for being curious or startled from someone flying out of a portal, but that’s when her eyes and thoughts were drawn to the box. It probably belonged to the girl, and being somewhat generous today and stepping away from her treasure hunting ways, Chloe set the box down on the table and folded her arms. “What’cha doin’ down there anyways? Didn’t anyone ever tell you that is isn’t nice to spy on people?” she said, raising an eyebrow and almost putting a tone of authority in her voice, not that she expected anyone to respect that tone of hers…still, it was different than her normal self, whatever, this girl could answer a few questions for her once all was said and done in regards to introductions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 645 Muse: Good! She didn’t trust her. There, now she had got that off her chest. Yuffie didn’t really trust anybody who came from the portal, unless they had did something that had proved otherwise. It wasn’t unusal for Yuffie to be a little cautious. Ninja techniques and all that. But last time she checked, when she had fallen out of a portal, there had been some hostility. Not that this person seemed hostile… but Yuffie couldn’t be entirely certain. It was understandable, wasn't it? After an incident a few weeks ago, she found it a little harder to trust people. She tried not to think about what happened, but it kept flashing up in her mind. She had trusted somebody, and then they just violated that trust like it was useless. Since then, she was becoming a little bit more reserved. Who blamed her?
However, when Yuffie had been 'discovered', she frowned. Her eyes caught the box, and her eyes lit up slightly. Was that a materia box? She hoped it was. Last time she checked, it hadn't been there. A new addition to her stock, eh? Hmm. She did not like this person, especially when she was almost stepped on. That drew the line. Didn't she at least stand out, just a little bit? Yuffie stood up quickly. "Hey! Watch it!" She crossed her arms. Inside her head, Yuffie almost analysed this person, before 'hmph'ing a little bit. Definitely a little suspicious.... a least, just a little.
As soon as the box was left on the table, she snapped it up quickly, holding it tightly against her chest. Ok, that seemed a bit better. But…Yuffie still wasn’t sure about this at all. Not one bit. She released a breath. ”Best way to look at trespassers.” And then she scowled. ”And I wasn’t spying.” She retorted back. Honestly, who did this person think she was? She was the Great Ninja Yuffie. The greatest Ninja, and thief, of all time! ”What does it matter to you, anyway?” She raised an eyebrow. Well, she wasn’t lying.
Yuffie huffed a little, before kicking the ground lightly. She didn’t like awkward conversations like this. Almost like it was a ticking time bomb. One wrong word, and BANG, it would all go downhill from there. Still, Yuffie kept the material clutched tightly, almost expecting her to rip it out of her own hands. This was her material, right? Maybe this material could be exactly what she needed to complete her Focus… maybe. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 577 Muse:; ...
