Slamming the ice box closed, nearly causing it to fall over Alice had retrieved a cold beverage from it. Popping the cap off of it she tossed it over her shoulder letting it fall where it pleased. It had not been an easy trip for any of them. It had also been a least a three days since she had shown her face back in the garage where Coulson had been staying, she had lost track of the days after everyone went their own ways. But right now, Alice was in no mood for expedition theories nor anyone’s thoughts on the matter. Making the floor cave in had not been a good thing; it caused numerous things to happen. Lightning punching her in the nose, breaking it, if Rydgea had not stopped her she would have threw one back. They had fought a numerous amount of things that liked to lurk in the dark, among a string of other things. Alice was sure that if Fang had not been holding out, that they would have went a row as well. Maybe she was just being polite. Hell Alice did not care at this point. The only reason she had been there in the first place was for Coulson, but did not change the fact that the trip was terrible for her after that moment that she had received a broken nose.
Taking in a large drink from her bottle she sat the rather empty bottle on the table. She had still been in the clothes that she had been wearing from day one out in the wilderness. At this point she really did not care a tick anymore about what she must have smelt like, much less looked like. She then noticed all the luggage laying around, Coulson had been here since. Placing a hand to her forehead she picked up the bottle and finished off the last of its contents. Tinkering with the idea of leaving again instead of having to face him for the first time without all the others. She gave a shake of her head, “Screw it.” She said standing up and making her way back outside. It was for another time. However she had not made it three streets away when there was a commotion. Taking in a breath she continued on, however at the end of the street she seen what the commotion was all about. No more than ten feet away was a portal, she would feel the wind wiping at her very messy lose hair.
Feeling the strong wind of the portal she knew what would happen next as she tried to move out of the suction. But by the time she had tried to move it was too late. “Crap!” Was all that was heard before she was pulled through it. What grand thing lay on the other side of this portal? She had only been through a few and well frankly a few was enough for her right now. But what she had not expected was to be tossed out into water. Not having the time to take in a breath, but thankfully Alice could swim. Pulling herself to the surface and moving her hair from her face. It was night time, where ever she was. Yet the coughing fit then came, as her lungs were filled with water. Once she was able to breathe properly she swam to the bank. It was rather silent here. Putting herself into a sitting position, she was quite used to being tossed about these days, it was nothing new. She adjusted her eyes to darkness as she looked around for a moment turning to face the water again.
But it was not what she had expected. The river that she had just been in was covered in what looked like small lights just flying around. All different colors. The next thing to draw her attention was the massive animal that stood on the banks of the river. Jaw almost dropping as she seen it was fitted with what looked like some type of saddle. Yet it had a cover on it. Looking to the other side of the river she seen a few more on that side, they were transportation to cross the river. Alice picked up on things. Giving a slight laugh at herself she sat down right where she had been standing.

Right hook! Left hook! And…Spartan kick! (As some people like to call it), Gladiolus grinned rather confidently as he stared down at a fallen soldier, having fallen because of his great hand to hand combat skills. He was quite the fighter, knowing when was the time to depend on his sword, and to know when his fists would do the job, this was one of those satisfying moments where he wished Prompto were around so he could point out that he was so bad ass, he didn’t need to use a weapon. Dusting his hands together before folding his arms and stepping over said soldier, Gladiolus let his dark eyes scan the area. All seemed pretty quiet, he’d decided to take a stroll just after the sun had set, making a patrol around the city was a routine thing, and he never minded, after all, routine searches was how he’d met Kirtana, though not on very friendly terms…this would be different, and it already had been. He’d trailed away from the enemy soldier he’d taken out, looking for anymore lurking nearby, so far…nothing.
Turning a corner, Gladiolus then jumped back as he heard the wind pick up and his eyes gazed upon a portal. Frowning, he shook his head and actually started talking to it. “Nuh uh, not this time, buddy. I’ve had enough portal adventures for one lifetime.” And as if the portal were going to debate him back, Gladiolus felt the wind pick up even more, sending a scowl onto his lips instead of a frown. His heavy weight was being pulled forward towards the portal, he didn’t have much to do now except wait. Wait and accept the fact that he was going to end up yet somewhere that wasn’t his own. Fan-freaking-tastic, eh? With a look of frustration, Gladiolus narrowed his eyes and kept his arms folded tightly across his chest as he was pulled forward even more before being sucked into the portal, as if he weighed nothing, which was so not true.
Ending up on the other side of this portal, Gladiolus came in contact with something soft…soft and grainy. He was practically eating sand right now as he sat up a bit, pushing himself up by his palms and simply lifting his head to look around. It was much darker here, nighttime of course, and his eyes adjusted easily since the sky was dimming in his own world, but a look of confusion crossed his as he then pushed himself up a bit more and sat on his knees for a moment. Rubbing the sand out of his mullet and the stubble on his chin, he made a small ‘hmm’ sound before his eyes caught sight of some sparkly looking things. Fireflies perhaps? Whatever, it was kinda pretty, but…he’d never admit that because…he was supposed to be the big tough guy of the bunch, wasn’t he? With a smirk at how silly his thoughts were right now, he got up to his feet and turned around only to see the biggest and most…exciting thing he had yet to see on the other side of a portal. It looked like an elephant of sorts, and his face was just staring at the creature in awe. He was like a small child again, so amused by a large animal standing nearly feet away from him. What a big kid he was turning out to be already! Whatever these things were, he wanted one, for real.
Moving out of the way of the giant creature, Gladiolus let his eyes lay on a red headed girl, sitting on the ground as she was looking at either the surroundings or those firefly things on the water. Was she a native? Well, by the way she was looking at things, giving herself a slight laugh, Gladiolus imagined she was a tourist of sorts, or something along those lines. Might as well be friendly and try to learn something, hm? “Hey, Miss? Just visiting? Or have you been here before?” He asked curiously, perhaps it was a bit…weird to start off a conversation that way, but who the hell cares, not like anyone here knew him anyways. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 799 Muse: Great! Playing at the grass below her, Alice gazed out at the water again. It was then that she heard an unfamiliar voice. Turning her head in the direction it had came from she perked a brow. She did not know where she was and here there was a guy the size of bigfoot, asking if she was from here or just visiting. She pulled back her lips into a smirk, “Well, not tha’ I wanted ta take a midnight swim in all mah clothes.” She said to him with a small shake of her head but a laugh followed. “No, I am not from around here. And yeah, it seems ta’ meh that I am visitin’.” She told him with another smirk about her. There had been a time in her life when she would have been less sarcastic about the situation, but giving the current mood she was in, it really did not matter in the least right now. She glanced back out at the water her eyes following all of the lights as they bounced atop the water. Finally she brought her eyes back up to the man before her, she went to stand up, dusting herself off. Not that it was helping considering she was wet from head to toe.
“And yerself?” She asked now standing properly with a hand on her hip. The place that they were at seemed to be rather quite, that she was thankful for at least. It was better being dropped here than in the middle of some busy street. That might have caused some type of scene, and that she did not want at all. She looked over her shoulder momentarily, the woods behind her; she gave a small nod of her head before turning back to bigfoot. She had yet to see any people, and could not tell if he was from around these parts or not. About the only thing she knew was that he was huge and could wrestle down a behemoth if he wanted to. That was when she extended a hand out to him, greetings were necessary these days, no matter where it was that you were at. “Alice, mah pleasure.” She told him with a small nod of her head.
The last days Alice had been trekking through the wilderness not really knowing where or what it was that they were doing. But she had not given up for Cole’s sake, Alice was going soft and she knew it. And that was the last thing that she wanted to happen. Why it was happening, she did not know, ok yeah she knew, but it was not that easy admitting it yet. Feeling the wind blow slightly she straightened up more, not wanting to go cold all of a sudden. Taking in a breath of the night air, she felt her nose tighten up. It was still swollen, and at points it still hurt like hell. The military woman sure knew how to throw a punch; Alice would give her that in any case. With small cringe she moved a hand up to run it down the bridge of her nose, she gave another shake of her head.

This place was just something unlike Gladiolus had ever seen before. It was dark, almost peaceful with the sound of water flow in the air. The little lights glowing above the surface of the water added to the all around relaxing atmosphere, but the giant creatures that seemed to be used for crossing said peaceful water were anything but relaxing. Gladiolus was sure one of those could crush him with one stomp. Him, the tank of his group between Noctis, Prompto and Ignis…yeah those things could crush just about anyone if it could crush the mighty dubbed ‘boombox’, courtesy of his hyperactive blond friend, Prompto. Whatever, there was no need to get lost in his thoughts of home right now, he wanted to know where he was, this was just…kind of bad since he was by himself. At least the past couple times he’d ended up somewhere else he either had Noct, Prompto or even Kirtana with him, this time it was all him.
All this extra effort Glady would have to put forward. With a small sigh, he’s spotted the redhead. She didn’t look to be a native, but she one didn’t judge a book by its cover, right? That seemed to be his philosophy on it all at least. After having approached the woman and started speaking, his tone as friendly as ever seeing that was just his overall nature. Gladiolus was far too friendly to strangers but that made him very likable in the eyes of many, it made more friends than enemies that was for sure. Of course he could rub people the wrong way, especially with his intimidating look about him. The muscles, the height and build, not to mention the scar across his face, all of it added up to the basic term of ‘hardcore badass’, and one who would snap you like a twig should you mess with him or his pals the wrong way. That was no exaggeration either. Anyways! Back on topic.
“Ah, you never know, I suppose.” Gladiolus grinned sheepishly as he lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck, getting some of his slick black mullet as well. Glancing around briefly he caught sight of the elephant creature again, it was just standing there, people boarding it and getting ready to cross the water even at this time of night. It was crazy, then again, this whole world seemed crazy, whether that was good or bad, Gladiolus wasn’t sure yet. All he knew was he needed to find a portal to get home before anyone noticed his absence. His disappearances lately didn’t do him any good, especially when he was trying to score brownie points with his pals in regards to his new girl, Kirtana. The more time he spent away ‘doing Etro only knows what’ the less trust he’d gain from them, hell, they probably thought he’d be flaking out on them to hang out with one long legged blond dragoon woman who could gut you like a fish. Yep, that was Glady’s woman! “I’m visiting too, I guess. Not exactly my idea of a good vacation though.” The large guardian said with a small shrug, moving his arms to across his chest as he gazed back at the redhead.
With a hand extended to him, Gladiolus put a new warm smile on his face, accepting the friendly gesture with a firm grip – though not trying to crush the bones within her hand, he had a certain gentility about himself – and he shook her hand. “Gladiolus, nice to meet you Alice.” He gave her a friendly nod before retracting his hand from the handshake after it was over with. “Welp, got any clue as to what this place is? I mean…I know I’m going with the whole ‘twenty questions’ route, but hey…I’m just clueless as to anything around here, to be quite honest.” Another shrug, but hey, maybe this Alice girl had information to offer? Then again, maybe not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 765 Muse: Better!
