It was pitching dark, not a single sign of light neither a sound. It was a total solitude, full of despair and hopeless expectations. Only he could feel his involuntary breathing, his lungs filling with oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide. Yet, this was very depressing. To see beyond the darkness, he only needed to open his eyes, still, he was unable. However, he started to hear cries and screams of pain all around him… that’s when he was able to widely open his eyes to see the world once again… not like he remembered though.
It was a demonic place, filled with bubbly magma and carved with otherworld designs. The heat, the stench of death and the demonic chills was unbearable in this place. The man, now with a regained consciousness, stood on his two feet and looked upon his surroundings. He checked his entire body to see no harm or mark from the last battle he remembered. ”Am I in hell? Is this the punishment I must bear for not stepping to what was right?” He closed his eyes once again to imagine the world he used to live; only blurred memories could come to his mind… specially that one from Celes Chere, the woman whom he had feelings for. He then remembered his mistakes, his misdeeds and his cowardice when Kefka took over the empire and he did nothing to stop it. He bit his lips and nodded in agreement to the fate placed upon his soul. ”So be it…”
An amber piece of crystal emerged from the hellish ground. It then shaped into different forms until it then resembled a mirror image of him standing and staring at him. ”General Leo Cristophe, I dare summon you to this realm for only one purpose…. Your most loyal and blind service!” An awkward voice whispered in his ear as the manikin merged with an unable to move Leo. The general then fell to his knees as an amber circlet formed on his forehead, keeping him in a mindless state that no one was going to be able to retrieve. He could speak only to his own mind, within the puppet he was turned into. Yet, his actions were to be commanded by the strings set upon his nervous system.
”This is my punishment. Once I allowed beloved Terra to play puppet and now serve me well for keeping myself ignorant to the obvious truth. Forgive me all, but my hands are tied…” Leo spoke to his inner self realizing what really happened. There is nothing he can do but to accept he was brought to the living world once again and that he must oath that.
Then in front of him, a void opened, revealing a portal that lead to Thamassa, the town were his grave was settled by the Returners. In there, his sword was placed. Leo then, seeking to retrieve and wield his sword once again, walked into the portal disappearing from the hell he was summoned.
