It really was nice being back to the land of the living. Zack couldn’t complain about it, no matter how bad the day got. Today was what he considered and average day. So far he’d gone to Seventh Heaven for breakfast with Tifa, washed dishes to ‘earn his keep’, and then gone back to their own shop. He’d rather have stayed there with her, but bro time with Kunsel was good, and there was work to be done to get food. He liked food. Today had been eventful, though not as fast as a huge shop would be. One day they’d get there. Zack had to remind himself then that they’d only officially opened the shop a week previous. He was actually amazed at how many customers they had gotten right away. People out there apparently needed weapons more then he had originally thought. That, and they’d gotten a contract with ShinRa for ammo for the Turks and their guns. Zack couldn’t deny that it was good business, as long as they didn’t get super involved with ShinRa again. Hell, he didn’t want that, he’d had just about enough of working for ShinRa time. Why did people think he was working here with Kunsel instead of being a SOLDIER fulltime?
Yawning, Zack walked with the ice cream cone he held in his hands. It was noon, and so he told Kunsel that he was going to go get some ice cream. It was not only hot outside, and he’d been working, but Zack had decided that he wanted an ice cream cone more then life itself. So he’d let the store for awhile and gone to that same shop he had gone to before. Not on purpose of course, but it was the closest place to get ice cream. The girl there had…well, she’d acted just like she had the last time he had been there. He’d even had a kid with him that last time, and still she’d fawned all over him. All looks and no brain, absolutely none. When she was sixteen he would have jumped on that, and he couldn’t deny liking the attention even now, but it was a lot easier to see just how dumb they really were.
Now he found it funny just how easy it was to get attention. All he had to do was smile and the girls came running. Perhaps that was a cocky thing to say, but it was true. They came running and practically slobbered as they draped themselves all over his arm. Steadily eating the ice cream, Zack swaggered back toward the shop. There was no harm in looking at the girls right? That was, if Tifa wasn’t around. He wasn’t an idiot despite some thinking such. He knew what he should and shouldn’t do, especially when your girl was there by you. For her, it was worth it. But hell, that meant no looking if they were there. Sometimes that was hard, but then again, with such a good looking woman on his arm, he didn’t really need to look anywhere else, so that was one advantage.
Eating the cone part in one bite Zack chewed and chewed before he swallowed hard. Noticing his sticky fingers then he raised his hands and licked at his fingers. If there was anything better then women, it was food, and Zack had always been a man to appreciate both of those. Appreciated it enough to know that he couldn’t make it taste good worth a damn. Kunsel couldn’t either. That created a problem when it came to food. Eating out all the time was fine and all that, but Zack had found a better way to survive. Helped when you had a woman that knew how to cook damned well. Yes, he found himself and Kunsel at Seventh Heaven plenty of nights during the week to get food instead of suffering through their own miserable attempts at create what some might be able to call food. He called it slop on a plate, or brick on a plate if he forgot about it being on the stove top, which was what happened nine times out of ten. It might keep you alive, or it might kill you, either way. All he knew was that being on your own was harder then it looked. With his parents his mom had always fed him, -which was a job in itself- and when he had been a SOLDIER, ShinRa had provided him food. Sucked when you had to make it yourself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 921 Muse:; Good! Tagged:; Zidane! Location:; Edge - street Outfit:; Click!Notes:; Hope this was alright Listening to:; --

Man, it was so freaking hot here... He could feel the sweat running down his back, feel his blond ponytail sticking to his neck. It was unhealthy in his opinion, and a bit gross. Yes, natural and all that... But just didn't like feeling as if he'd just been spit out of some giant slobbery monster's mouth. Even his tail, with it's thin layer of fur, was almost dripping with the salty liquid. On top of it all, he was starving, with no real way to honestly get food. There were plenty of places here, he just had no money. Well, none that people would take here. His money was from Alexandria, and it looked nothing like the stuff here. No one would be stupid enough to accept cash that was so obviously foreign. So that left him with one choice... Time to put his Master Thieving skills to use again! That was the purpose for his slinking around in shadows now, making sure to not be seen while he seeked out easy targets. Normally, he would have tried to get his hands on something that was worth a challenge. But he was so hungry right now, he doubted he'd be able to do as well as usual with his tricks.
Besides... There were many shadows down here to hide in. Honestly, he had idea how he'd gotten here; but it was a disgusting place. High above was some sort of metal roof; no sunlight reached down here beneath that big city he'd learned was called Midgar. These were the slums, according to the people he overheard while snooping around. But he longed to see the sky again, to get out of the rather unpleasant smelling hole. There was so much trash and debris down here, moving around was easy for one as nimble as him. Of course, he preferred to go by roofs; then he didn't have to worry about getting too close the the trash everywhere. So here he was now; leaping from one roof to another, balancing himself and changing direction in midair with his tail. Much as he hated the looks the appendage got him, it definitely had its uses. If he ever got the chance to get it removed, he knew he wouldn't get rid of the thing. A few stares were worth it; he could do so many things normal people couldn't.
He came to a halt on yet another roof; straightening up and crossing his arms as he looked down into the space. There were a few young ladies in one direction, he could see them exchanging what looked like money. But stealing from women went against his personal morals. He may be a thief, but he wasn't going to take advantage of the... Uh... Less capable beings. He knew he was being sexist, but so what? Women were naturally more fragile than men, and seeing them cry pierced his heart much more than seeing a man cry. Men shouldn't shed tears anyway; it just wasn't manly. But females... Along with looking downright pathetic when in tears, were terrifying when angry. Oh yes, he feared angry ladies more than angry men. Maybe it was just because it hurt to see upset; ladies... But it could have also been the way that they seemed to grow fangs and breathe fire if pissed off. Seeing their pretty little faces red with rage, or depressed and soaked with tears... There was no way he'd be the one to fluster the ladies.
So he looked away from them, and felt a sudden jolt in his gut when he saw a raven-haired male not far off. That guy had spiky hair, and an ice-cream cone... Zidane both felt and heard his stomach snarl. The male seemed to be really enjoying that ice-cream as well... But there was something intimidating about that guy. Probably the stance he naturally fell into. The guy seemed pretty confident of himself, and that smile on his face was familiar... Being a bit of a womanizer himself, the blond youth recognized that slightly dazed look. The other guy was thinking of woman, and he was pretty good-looking for a man. Zidane had no doubt that women lined up to talk with him. That smug arrogance he no doubt sheltered... He seemed to be challenging anyone to think anything other than pleasant thoughts of him. That was really what sparked the Genome to take the challenge. He'd make the guy look like an idiot, and get himself some food later with what he took. From his vantage point on the roof, he could see the corner of a wallet sticking out of the guy's back pocket... How careless...
Stifling a snort of laughter, Zidane leaped down from the roof; and began to move rapidly closer to his target, using everything he could find as cover. It wasn't long before he was practically next to the man, hidden by the shadows of some rubble which had apparently fallen from the roof high above. Easy as pie... Or was it cake...? He neither knew or cared. He waited until the guy was focused on licking his fingers clean, and then darted up behind him. In one smooth motion, the wallet had been pulled from the back pocket. He doubted the man had felt anything, and wondered exactly how long it would be until he noticed he'd lost something. Without making the slightest sound, Zidane sprinted away; in the opposite direction of which the man had been heading. After a few leaps, he'd made his way back to a roof; his tail was the last thing to vanish over the edge of the structure. Sitting as far back on the roof as he could, well-hidden by darkness; he opened the wallet, grinning as the contents came into view. This would be enough to keep him going for a few days...
And just to add insult to injury, he had another idea. He pulled the cash bills from the wallet and stuffed them in his own pocket, then moved back to the edge of the roof. Pulling back his arm, he took careful aim and threw the wallet. It landed neatly on the ground a short distance behind the victim; as if it had simply fallen out of its owner's pocket. Still laughing to himself, the blond retreated back over the edge of the roof; and started to study a few of the bills, trying to work out how much he had.

Eating his ice cream cone, Zack finally just started walking and eating it, watching people as they practically ran past him. Cocking his head to the side as they fled past like wild people, rushing to get here and there, he thought about his own life, contemplated it really. Despite it not being a quiet environment, it was quiet for him because he didn’t have to talk to any of the people that were running by. He didn’t have to make small talk, didn’t have to worry about who they were or what they were doing. Quiet moments had started to come less and less it seemed. Especially since he had found his parents again. A smile appeared on his face at that. He had searched for a long while to find them. He’d searched all over Gaia, or called all over. It had taken quite awhile, but finally he had found them, living in some small little home in the backwoods of Gaia. They’d lost everything during meteor and had just been living there by themselves, going to town only when they needed supplies or food stuffs they couldn’t grow in the large garden they had. When he’d opened the door, not expecting it to be the right Devin and Laura Fair. When he’d walked in though, the older couple sitting beside a crackling firepit, books on their laps, had indeed been the parents he had thought were long dead.
As he walked, completely lost in thought, a small smile appeared on his lips again. His mother had fainted dead away. He really hadn’t seen his father cry ever, but he’d shed plenty of tears that night, only about a week previous. Once they had revived his mother, Zack had been so smothered in love he hadn’t known what to do with himself. Actually it got somewhat awkward when his mom wouldn’t stop holding his head, stroking his hair and muttering about how her baby boy had come back to her. Zack hadn’t gotten away from that house for days, as they wouldn’t allow him to leave. It had taken him awhile, but finally he had persuaded them that he had to go back to Edge. The pale faces of theirs before his father had asked the quiet question about if he was still working for ShinRa said it all. They were worried he was going to die again. It had taken a long time to convince them he wouldn’t be dying on them. Then again, he couldn’t blame them, since he hadn’t exactly been doing so great on the being alive thing.
Well anyway, the quiet was shattered since he had asked his parents to move in with him and Kunsel at the house they had over their shop. Thankfully that meant that the cooking that he had done himself would now end, since when his mom got settled in again she would probably cook for them. The rooms in the shop were getting less and less, but Zack was just happy that they had built a few more rooms then needed on the whim that they might have some company and need a place to put them. So yes, he liked having a little bit of time to himself. When the ice cream cone got finished, Zack started licking his fingers, stopping to watch a parent bend down to talk to their child, who was hanging her head, obviously getting punished. Still, he had to smile. Things were looking up for him…Tifa, his parents, Kunsel and the shop. It was all coming together. Slowly but surely.
He didn’t notice his wallet being lifted from him. Yawning and stretching, Zack was completely oblivious and was about to take a step and continue on his way. That was when his wallet landed directly in front of him. Skidding to a stop, Zack stared at the wallet before stooping over and scooping it off the ground. That belonged to one Zachary Fair alright. Furrowing his brow, he flipped it open, seeing instantly that his cash had been taken. “Oh damn it,” he muttered out, placing the wallet back into his pocket and looking around him. Carefully he studied the location around him, mako blue eyes taking in everything. He’d had his wallet lifted enough times to know it had happened again. Moving quickly to the right, Zack shifted his location, glancing on the ground. He didn’t see anything suspicious, but finally he turned his gaze upward. Instantly he saw someone on the roof. Great… “Hey!”, he shouted out, running toward the roof and clambering up on the conveniently placed boxes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 931 Muse:; Great! While it seemed like he had plenty to get him started, he was too unfamiliar with this kind of money to work out exactly how much was available. The blond youth frowned as he cast a glance around the shopping center below, looking for a store that might have an owner who would be willing to show him how to count this money. Someone who wouldn't laugh or take advantage of his obviously unfamiliar self. This seemed like a place where many people might con him into spending more money than something's actually price, they'd likely lie about how much each bill was worth or something. So... Who could he trust here to actually be helpful...? And not see his clueless state as something to mess with. But no matter where he looked, everything seemed pretty shady... Maybe he'd have to climb up from under the main city to fins someone who would be trustworthy. But looking toward the distant massive pillar which seemed to hold up the entire roof... He wasn't so fond of climbing all the way to the top to possibly find a way to the surface. He may be a genome, and have no trouble climbing... But that didn't mean he was stupid enough to try making his way up there. If he fell; there would be no way to save him from severe injuries, if not death. He couldn't die yet, he had yet to return to Garnet and his world... The mere thought of them sent a pang of homesickness through his conflicting feelings.
What was Garnet doing now? Struggling to put up with everything that being a queen demanded? Was she alive and well? Had she sneaked out of the castle again, and gotten herself into trouble? He was starting to recognize why she worried so much about him when he vanished without warning... Feeling this concern for her when he wasn't even in the same world... He shuddered at the thought of the lecture she'd likely give him if he returned. No... Not if, but when. There was no "if". He had to return to her, there was no option. The problem was that he hadn't the faintest idea of how. Nor did he knew why that damn portal had appeared in the first place and dragged him so far from home. Would he have to travel through another portal? That thought was enough to make his stomach churn uncomfortably. He was still feeling ill from that first travel... Doing it again anytime soon, or ever really, revolted him. It made him want to be sick right there, and only the fact that he had no food in his system stopped him from spewing up the contents of his stomach.
With a sigh, he returned his attention to the paper bills he was holding in his hands. All he could do was try to live and survive here until he found a way to return home. And the first step to that was working out how payment worked here. Then he could buy himself some food, and start sniffing around for clue on how to leave this place. It was sudden movement from below in the marketplace that drew his attention. A smirk crossed his features and he hid the money within his deep pockets once more, and shifted into a kneeling crouch position of his roof; the left arm resting on his raised left knee. Seemed the raven-haired man had noticed he'd lost something; and was now looking around; trying to find the culprit. It wasn't long before the guy shifted his searching blue eyes to the roof, and they locked gazes. The smirk instantly faded into a sort of innocent curiosity as the man called out; and made his way to the roof. There was no way he knew who had stolen his money, he could only be suspecting right now. That meant that so long as he acted ignorant, there would be no proof that the money was in his possession; and this guy would simply move along to ask others about his loss.
Zidane allowed a curious smile to cross his mask of a face as the man started to climb up the boxes. He could have easily jumped down and tipped over the boxes to send the other crashing to the ground; then make his escape. But then it would be obvious that he was the culprit here. But it was amusing that this guy was so careless and reckless. So rather than instantly making a move to be on the guy's bad side, Zidane chose a different option. He scooted over to make room on the roof for the newcomer, and sat down with his tail waving about behind him as he waited for the guy to reach the top. "Well, hello." He said, smiling politely as the man's head appeared over the edge of the roof. He leaned forward to offer a hand to help the guy come up; still smiling with interest. "Welcome to my little hang out zone. It isn't much, but at least it has a good view. Well, as good a view as anyone could hope for in this place. Can I help you with something?"

Making his way onto the roof with the ease of someone limber, Zack was all ready to tear into some strange kid the tried to pull a fast one on him. All set and ready-holy mother of Sephiroth, was that a tail? Yet he accepted the hand that was offered him, stepping up and onto the roof. When he did manage to stand there, he stared down at what looked to him to be a young boy, Zack couldn’t help his wandering eyes. Hell, he knew that staring wasn’t polite. His mother had drilled that into his brain growing up time and time again. So…why couldn’t he keep his mako blue eyes from wandering now? Actually, he probably had his mouth wide open and drool hanging as well. To be perfectly honest, Zack didn’t have the ability to think that much to check to see if his mouth was hanging open. Hopefully it wasn’t, or he was going to look like a complete moron.
“You’ve got a tail!”, he finally exclaimed, not moving to sit beside the young man…monkey, whatever it was that was sitting there smiling up at him. It was then that he realized the kid had offered him a greeting. Shaking his head, Zack tried to ignore the tail. Hard, when it kept flickering from here to there. “Heya…okay really, did your mom just sew something into your pants? Or is that a real tail?” Zack asked as he crouched down, reaching a hand out toward the young mans tail. For some reason, he just couldn’t get past the idea of him having a tail. Where on Gaia. He hadn’t heard of anything like this ever before. In all his travels, which was a lot, he had never seen any half man, half monkey creatures running around. This was so unsettling. He had to be dreaming. Right? He was really at home, just dreaming this up. Yeah…had to be…
When he touched it though, it was fuzzy. “Dear god.” He breathed out, before retracting his hand and plopping down beside the young man. Blankly looking ahead, Zack shook his head, unsure of what to make of this. Well…hell. You saw some strange things here on Gaia, that was for sure. Some damn strange things. And here he had been, just wanting to get some ice cream. Why could he never just simply get any ice cream?! Huh?! What was so hard about that anyway? With a groan he rubbed his eyes, hoping that when he opened them, that this monkey person would be gone and his money would safely be back in his wallet. Peeking his eyes open, he peered through his fingers to the side, hoping that he really was in his bed at home. Another groan came out, before he removed his hands from his face.
“Can you help me wit-…yes, yes you can help me with something.”, Zack said with his arms crossed over his chest. Giving the boy another steady glance, Zack purposefully cleared his throat. “I believe you know what my wallet looks like.”, he started swiftly then, drumming his arm muscles with his fingertips, still looking at the boy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 689 Muse:; Good! The guy seemed to have no trouble climbing up onto the roof, though he still took the offer of help to get up there. Zidane leaned back on his arms again, looking up at the fairly tall figure with an air of polite curiosity about him. He almost burst out laughing at the look the guy was giving him. Apparently, a tail wasn't common around this world. He'd figured it wasn't, judging by all the staring he'd received upon arrival. But this guy's reaction was absolutely comical. By Gaia... He even had his mouth hanging open; looking like a complete idiot. The tail swished to the left, then back to the right; the guy's unusually blue eyes followed its every movement. It had been amusing at first, but now... He was starting to feel a bit self conscious.
Since he'd looked into those eyes, he started to feel a flicker of doubt within his gut. Maybe he had been a bit too careless to make this guy his theft target. Now that he was getting a good look at the guy, without thoughts of snatching his prize and fleeing as before... He felt a bit of a chill run down his spine. However moronic the man appeared while staring at the tail, he was an intimidating figure. The blue eyes blazed with a strength that he wasn't sure he could match. His stance, his walk... He definitely had his swag on; and still... Zidane was willing to bet his own tail that this guy could kick his ass in a heartbeat. So, now that he had those lovely thoughts flashing around his head, the prospect of a choice came up. He could keep playing this game, no doubt digging his hole deeper; or he could just go out and confess; hand back the money, and hope he was spared. But he'd never just given up a theft like that, and he didn't want to break his streak. He was a master thief! NO one was better than him. So why the heck should he throw in the towel now? Well, to not get the living daylights beat out of him...
He had been lost in his silent musings; and hadn't seen the guy reaching for his tail. So the sudden touch brought up a flash of an instinctive reaction. One moment, he'd been sitting there; completely at ease and curious about this man; if not a bit panicky. The next moment, he'd kicked his legs up and over his head; soon shifting into a backward somersault which brought him to a crouched defensive position a few feet away from the other man. The blue eyes were narrowed with irritation, and it took a few moments for him to notice he'd been in the process of drawing his daggers. With a sigh, he stood up straight; returning the daggers to the sheathe on his thigh. He glared reproachfully at the other man and crossed his arms. "Ever heard of personal space, dude?" He said cooly. "It is a bit rude to do that without asking first." But of course... He made the mistake of making eye contact again. He seemed shrink back as he uncrossed his arms and struggled to regain his calm demeanor. After a few deep breaths he spoke again. "Sorry about that, man." He said, referring to his sudden reaction. "I've had just about enough of people touching and pulling on the tail. It's kind of attached, you know."
It wasn't long before the guy seemed to be able to tear his eyes away from the tail; and spoke again about the help he needed. Zidane kept his face a mask, still annoyed by the touching of his tail; when in truth, he was mentally running around in a panic. They guy only suspected, he had no proof... He hadn't seen the one who lifted his wallet, so he was probably only laying some bait. Zidane took a moment to appear as if he were pondering over the spoken words, before he replied. "Your wallet? Is that the leather pouch-like thing you humans carry around in this world? I'm kind of new around here, got dragged out of my own world not long ago by those portal things; some Red-headed Shin-ra guy was nice enough to lend a hand." He shrugged, then continued. "I've never met you before, so how would I know what sort of things you carried around? Much less what one specific thing looks like." He crossed his arms again, and a feigned look of hurt entered his gaze. "You trying to accuse me of stealing something from you? I'm no thief." He huffed angrily. That was the way... Just keep cool and act ignorant... Maybe he'd get out of this yet. But he couldn't help making a mental note. "Aw crap, look at that guy's muscles... I'm so screwed..."

Zack had just barely touched his tail when the monkey boy spazzed out, flipping backwards through the air and away from him. Blinking rapidly, Zack just stared at the younger…well, whatever he was, as he pulled some sort of weapons out, like he was going to attack him. Zack thought that was pretty laughable himself. Here this kid thought that he could take on a SOLDIER? He had a lot to learn, but Zack had to admit, that this kid had gumption, trying that on him. Grinning a bit, Zack leaned back, watching the younger blonde with interest as he sheathed his weapons on his thighs and turned to look at Zack with a look that would wither someone if possible. Well, Zack had only been curious. What was so wrong about being curious? It wasn’t every day you met someone that had a tail sticking out of his pants!
Zack just shrugged when he asked if he had ever heard of personal space. “Yeah, yeah, but hey, it’s not every day you see some guy with a tail poking out of his pants. Ya gotta understand that we don’t just see that every day. If I were you, I’d expect some tail pulling from a lot of people.” Zack had nearly forgotten all about his wallet when he had seen the younger man with his tail. But he couldn’t help but stare at it when the young man seemed to get a hold of himself and sat back down beside him. He’d been taught not to stare, but all that training just flew out the window when it came to tails, apparently. Well…in his defense, he’d never seen one on a human before. He just laughed when the kid mentioned that it was kind of attached. “Well, I know that now, but I thought your mom had just sewed it on for a school play or something,” he mentioned, remembering the horrible times at school when they had dressed them up as some random plant or something…those had been embarrassing moments.
At the mention of the red haired ShinRa guy, Zack had to shake his head. Not being from Gaia would explain this kid and his tail. “So that lanky devil lent you a hand, eh? Reno’s not a bad guy, not anymore anyway.” Sitting there, having talked to the young monkey boy, Zack didn’t know anymore. It was easy to accuse someone that you didn’t know or particularly like, but he couldn’t say that he disliked the younger man. That made this whole accusing thing. And-…well, unfortunately, the monkey boy was going to call him on it too. Zack hated to accuse anybody, but he’d had plenty of people that didn’t know him steal things from him. Yuffie…Rick. It almost seemed like he had a target painted on his back that just shouted “COME STEAL MY MONEY!” He was getting fed up with it! And besides, Zack hadn’t seen anyone else even remotely suspicious.
Shaking his head, Zack gave him another suspicious look, trying not to seem too overbearingly angry or something. “Listen kid, I’ve been taken one too many times by kids, innocent looking ones. I guess…forgive me for suspecting you-…if you’re really innocent. Ya seem like a good type, I’d hate to find out you were lying to me.” Zack was hoping to lead him to the right conclusion by himself, but wondered how that would go. “Besides, I’d like to think I’m a good guy, a hero of sorts, ya know? If you’re from another world, I’d be happy to help ya, though I don’t really have any money to give you right now…some body did take it all.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 799 Muse:; Great! Not apologetic at all! How rude! This guy's thought process... It was as if he didn't give a damn about manners or respect when something he'd never seen before came up. Were all the humans here like this? He certainly hoped not; as he'd be trapped here for an undetermined length of time. At least Reno had shown some restraint. Maybe he'd go looking for that Shin-ra guy again; he certainly wasn't bad company. If anything, he was the friendliest human he'd met here so far. But this guy was the opposite. Prancing around like he owned the world or something, then allowing his money to be stolen so easy, and now confronting a "suspicious" person without any trace of politeness. It was quiet distasteful to the blond youth. And what the devil was a "school play"? He knew what a play was of course, but school? Those two things didn't seem to mix well; how could they co-exist?
The next words of the guy provided a bit of interest, however. He knew Reno? And it sounded as if Reno had been a bad guy once. Zidane hadn't seen any evidence of "bad guy" when he hung out with Reno. Ah well. Haters gonna hate, he supposed. Just like all these idiot humans who jerked on the tail simply because they'd never seen one on a person before. He lashed his tail slightly in irritation, and it was with difficultly that he was able to relax in enough so as not to slap the guy upside the face with it by mistake. But then again... That thought was mildly appealing... And amusing. But he still didn't want to get in a fight with this guy. He was definitely capable, and the youth really didn't want to get his ass handed to him by one of his thievery victims. It would leave a black mark on his unbroken records of successful bouts with the said victims.
"Ya seem like a good type, I’d hate to find out you were lying to me."
Yeah, he'd hate to have the guy find that out as well. The youth suppressed a shudder as his mind worked quickly through a list of possible things to do in this situation. The next words offering to help went unheard as he finally settled upon a plan of action. It was time to give up this game, for his own personal safety. He did, after all, have to find a way home; preferably alive. Quickly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the paper notes; and forcefully shoved them into the guy's hand. "Well done, you passed my test. Now don't kill me. Bye-bye!" Yes, make it seem like it had all been a test, not a genuine attempt to steal the cash. The next instant, he'd sprang form the roof in a flash; landing neatly into an alleyway which was covered in shadows. He streaked off through the alleyway, nimbly climbing up emergency escape ladders and things on other buildings as he made his escape. He planned on putting as much distance between him and the guy as possible, then he'd work out what to do next.
It wasn't long before he'd made his way up onto another roof; and he began a travel by rooftop; leaping from one roof to another, ducking down into other alleyways. He had been lost in this weird world since arrival, so it was really no problem that he was getting himself even more hopelessly lost in his flight. So long as he found a somewhat safe place, he'd be perfectly happy. It wasn't long before he reached a sort of marketplace, it was made obvious by the many shops. There was an old playground nearby as well; and a church wasn't too far off either. Standing on yet another roof, he looked down into the space, noticing it was walled in and had a pair of steel doors to provide entrance and exit. At the back end of the alley was a set of train tracks, which led above ground according to the nearby sign. It would be easy to hide here, and there were plenty of unaware people whom he could take money from without risking his skin. He jumped down into the marketplace, and streaked toward a trailer of sorts. The youth ducked behind the trailer, and sat down on the ground to catch his breath.

He had no time to react when the bills were shoved into his hand. Honestly, he hadn’t be sure that it had been this young monkey dude that had stolen his money, but he’d had a strong hunch about it. Zack had now had his wallet stolen one too many times. So…yeah, he was weary of kids, especially ones with tails. Why he was especially weary of kids with tails, he would never know. Except that if they had tails, they obviously had to be different. Then again, he was different as well, what with his being a SOLDIER and all-…what in heavens name was he even thinking about anyway?
Shaking his head, Zack stared at the gil that had roughly been shoved in his hand, before he registered that monkey boy wasn’t here anymore. “Hey!”, he shouted after the boy with the tail, raising up to his feet in time to see the boy pitching off the side of the building and fleeing. “Well sheesh,” he muttered out. “Don’t kill-…” Zack was glad to have his money back, yes, but he wouldn’t have killed the poor kid over the ordeal. Money wasn’t worth more deaths on his conscience, at least ones that weren’t asking for it. Pulling out his empty wallet, Zack shoved his cash back inside and then shoved it back into his pocket. Reaching up, he scratched his head and then propped his hands back up on his hips. “O…kay,” he finally muttered out.
Time to get back to his own life!
Jumping down, he hung on the edge of the ledge and then finally dropped down to the ground. Bending his knees to absorb the landing, he got back to his feet and started off. It only took a few steps for him to start feeling guilty though. The kid had mentioned that he was from another world. Well…that might sound strange to most people, but for Zack, he had run into people from other places before. Like Rikku, and so he had already gone through the disbelief and shock of finding out here were other worlds out there. No wonder he had stolen his money. He was probably here, with no food, no way of getting back home, no friends to call on for help, and no idea what to do.
A groan escaped his lips. Great. He was going to have to go help the kid now. Whirling around and muttering to himself about what a sucker he was, Zack was off, starting on his way through the place to follow the direction that the boy had gone. Running…more running. It didn’t seem to take long to get to the train tracks, but when he got there, he stood, hands on his hips and panted a few times. “Yo! Kiid? You around?” Cupping his mouth with his hands, he shouted that out, before pausing and waiting to see if he would get an answer. Hopefully he did. He’d like to help the kid out. Or…well, he was going to help him out anyway, regardless if he actually wanted to or not.
