Yuffie slammed her house door shut loudly. Shouts could be heard through it, calling her back but she ignored them. Why should she give them the time of day? Especially after what had just happened. Her father, Godo, wouldn't stop going on about her future. It was all about heirs and husbands and etiquette. Honestly? She couldn't care less. She was too young to be thinking of all that! She wanted to be who she was, The Great Ninja Yuffie! Not Princess Yuffie of Wutai. She hated responsibility. She didn't want to have to rule Wutai. She would rather go travel the Planet, or spend time with her friends or... Something. The brunette was sitting on a wall, a little lost in thought. The musings of a ninja. She hugged her knees and rested her chin on them. "Where did I think I could go?" She sighed. "What a joke." She changed her head so her cheek was now resting. Yuffie rubbed her hands together and bit her lip. She couldn't go back, but was there anything to do? She wanted to leave Wutai, but where exactly was there to go? Yuffie dropped her knees and looked at her surroundings. She couldn't see anybody around, so she jumped off. The ninja brushed the dirt of her shorts and leant against the wall. Releasing a quick cough, she withdrew her Shuriken and tapped the point with her finger. It felt a little less sharp than usual. She raided her pockets for her sharpening tool and frowned, realising she had left it back there. She huffed. Well, if I need to fight, I have my ninja stars. Oh, damn! I left my Conformer there as well! She groaned and dropped her Shuriken to put her head in her hands. Although she was moping, her reflexes were alert, listening for something. She rested against the wall, pulling at her hair slightly. That was one thing that annoyed her. Yuffie liked the length of her hair, but her father wanted her to grow it out, like Tifa's or Aerith's. She wanted to look pretty like them, but she felt like she couldn't. Like, she would always be the brat. Then a thought overwhelmed her. Aerith. Truthfulky, Aerith was closer to her then anybody else could. Yuffie felt like Aerith liked her, and didn't find her annoying like everybody else did. It made her feel a little wanted. However, although she missed Aerith, she felt a little happy. Not because of the death, but because she felt like she fit in a little. That's why she felt happy. But was she really? So, this was Wutai...? He had to admit... It was... different... The Genome had been in this strange world for about a month now; he'd left that city where Shin-ra was behind a few weeks ago. The red-haired guy there had been friendly enough, informative; and Zidane knew he'd be grateful to that official man for a long time. At least it had been someone like that who had found him almost as soon as he'd emerged from that stupid portal thing. Ugh, just thinking of his travel out of his own world to be dropped here... It made him feel sick again, his stomach churned uncomfortably. Much as he hated being starving; he supposed it was a good thing there was nothing in his unhappy stomach. It would have come back up right then. He walked over to a house that had a bucket of water outside it, and quickly splashed his face with some of the cool liquid. It soothed his rather clammy skin for the time being. It was best if he didn't think about arrival in this world. He knew he should be focusing on getting back to his own world. But the adventure offered by being here... It was too good to resist. He wanted to travel, to see this world. There was so much to see and do! And this was only one of many cities, judging by a map he'd seen when he was back in Midgar.
A sudden commotion from within the house made him leap up on instinct, and scramble to the roof so that he could look down from a place of some safety. There was shouting, and there was a girl's voice too; she seemed pretty furious with someone... The he nearly fell off the roof as the door opened and then slammed shut beneath him; it was only a quick motion from his tail to hook around a chimney that stopped him from toppling head first to the ground below. A short-haired girl ran out, and his golden eyes were instantly drawn to her as she fled. She was... Really upset it seemed... He hated seeing upset women. Some male voice from within the building was yelling after the retreating female, and it took a great deal of self-control for him to not just walk into the house and yell at whoever had upset the girl about showing manners to women. He didn't think whoever lived here would take to kindly to a ruffian like himself suddenly appearing in their home. The thought made the corners of his mouth twitch upward in a smirk. It was tempting... But no... It would be better not to provoke hostility so soon after arrival.
So he leaped down from the roof and walked in the direction the girl had run. He could at least try to comfort her. He was all alone in this world right now... Some friends would be nice, especially if it was female company. It wasn't long before he saw the wall she had seated herself on. He was just in time to see her drop over the edge, and curiosity engulfed him. Was she planning on running from this place? Was it really that bad here...? Without a sound, he leaped lightly onto the far edge of the wall, and started walking along it toward the spot where the girl had vanished. He leaned over the edge when he reached the spot, and saw her handling a rather interesting weapon. He thought he may have seen something similar before, but he wasn't so sure... But she seemed to be testing the sharpness of the blade, and then apparently realized she had no way of sharpening it. Well, good thing he did. After all, how else would he have been able to keep his Mage Masher daggers in good condition; when they were usually tucked snugly into the sheath on his thigh.
He reached into one of many pockets, retracting his own sharpening tool. Then he spoke softly, not wanting to frighten the girl. "Hi there, young lady." He offered a smile as he sat down on the rock wall, about one arm-length away from her as he dangled his legs over the edge. The tail flicked about excitedly behind him. "You can use my sharpening tool if you want." He said, holding it out to her as he bowed his head slightly in greeting.

She felt a little numb, barely registering anything around her now. Was this what she was ready for? She thought she wasn't, but had Godo seen something different? Yuffie felt so confused, and also obligated to do this. Would she have to feel these types of pressures when she ruled Wutai? Did she want to rule Wutai? Not many people actually asked her for what she wanted. Nobody asked her if she had wanted to be princess. Nobody asked her if she wanted anything. They all just assumed, because she was a 'kid'.Her chest begun to hurt a little. She winced ever so slightly, before she jumped a little at the sudden voice. Brown eyes looked at the boy offering her a sharpening tool, and calling her a lady. Yuffie smiled a little and nodded her head in gratitude. "Thank-you." She spoke in a quiet voice. No doubt Godo had sent people to find her, to return her. So she needed to keep quiet. The last thing she wanted to do was get found and get dragged home. If that happened, she would get scolded and force to talk more about matters she loathed. Was this all really fair? Could she call Wutai her home, anymore? Or was it just somewhere she lived? It didn't overly make any sort of sense. Yuffie picked up her Shuriken, and sharpened it slowly, deep in thought. Now that she had thought about it, this boy didn't seem familiar. She knew most of the faces of Wutai, but she couldn't recall seeing his. Why would be act so kind without knowing who she was? Most people in Wutai tried to kids up to her because of her position. It annoyed her an awful lot. "You're not from around here, are you?" She stopped, and looked at him. "I know the faces of most people here, but I've never seen yours..." Yuffie dragged the tip of her finger across one of the spikes, not satisfied. She rested the sharpening stool on it, and looked at the gleam of her Shuriken. "Thank-you, again." She resumed sharpening it, feeling a little down. She knew if she told him of her position, he would change, so she didn't say anything about it. It was probably better that way. She released a deep breath and dragged her finger across the blade once again, nodding when she drew a bead of blood. With her other hand, she handed the sharpening tool back to him. "It's sharper now." She spoke, stating the obvious like it wasn't easy to see. "It's better than before." She nodded a little. WORDS;; 467 MUSE;; Amazing! He watched her work with much interest. She certainly seemed expert at this. That weapon must have been what she trained with all the time, like he did with his daggers. He couldn't really explain why he was so fascinated with watching her work on her weapon, but it was just... So different from his own mage mashers. Not to mention... The focus on her face was hiding some of the not so happy feelings swimming around in her eyes... Perhaps that was what intrigued him so much. He said nothing as she worked, leaning back on his hands when he got bored. Then she spoke to him, and he immediately gave her his full attention. He took a moment to shift his position so that he was laying on his stomach on the wall, his his head and arms over the edge. Resting his chin in his hands, he replied thoughtfully. "No, I'm not from around here. But it doesn't really matter where one comes from. We can all become friends in time if judgment is put aside."
He grinned as he turned his head slightly, looking intensely into her eyes. "Speaking of faces... Why is yours so downcast?" The golden eyes glittered with a friendly light. "I don't like seeing lovely women like yourself upset. Anything I can do for you?" Overly-friendly as usual... He couldn't help it; but he didn't think women should allow their faces to become so distorted from sorrow or anger. It messed with the beauty. He watched as she tested the weapon again, and made herself bleed. He sighed as he reached out to take his sharpening tool back; and returned it to his pocket. Out of a different one, he pulled a white handkerchief; and tore a small strip from it. Without asking if she wanted it or not, he took her hand gently into his and wrapped her finger with the cloth. "Do you always cut yourself when sharpening your weapons?" He asked, trace of laughter in his voice and he pushed himself up to rest on his elbows. The blond hair was tossed about by a light breeze; and the tail waved lazily.
Something about this girl was... Different... She had an almost regal air about her; though it wasn't quite as obvious as it was with Garnet back in his world. But there was also a sense of lonely sadness then he got from being this close to her. Perhaps it was the dropping of her shoulders? Or maybe the quite voice through which he could easily make out the pain and frustration. She was unique in her own special way, though it seemed like the people she lived with weren't happy with it. He raised his gaze to fix on the horizon, and then asked in a softer; more serious voice. "I was nearby when you left that house. If you don't mind me asking, do you plan on running away?" If she was, this reminded him too much of Garnet. She'd wanted to be kidnapped from Alexandria, just as this young girl seemed to want to leave her home. Perhaps that was what had drawn him to her...

She sat back on the wall, crossing her legs. She was aware he was looking at her, but she didn't overly mind. She was almost used to it. In the battle at Edge, people were staring at their heroes. If that was what they were. Her face was a little downcast, and her mood matched it. "I thought so." She nodded to herself, and then looked at him, and spoke in a quiet voice once again. "I don't really mind where people are from, just as long as they aren't threatening. People are just people." She shrugged half-heatedly and fiddled with one of her laces. She didn't care where people were from, as long as they weren't threatening in any way. Especially right now, she wasn't up to doing much, in this mood. She straightened her legs, only to draw them up close. She rested her chin in them, brown eyes looking for the golden ones.
She creased her eyebrows for a second, thinking. Was it that obvious she wasn't feeling too great? She shrugged. She didn't overly know how to answer his question. She almost wanted to tell him, and almost not, at the same time. Instead, she just smiled, a small but genuine smile. She wasn't used to people complimenting her and actually meaning it. Usually people were pretending to get on her father's good side, or they were being sarcastic. "I'm ok, I guess." She shrugged and crossed her legs again, her hands resting on her knees. Yuffie cocked her head a little when his hand took hers, and she turned a little bit red at his actions. She chuckled a little. "Sometimes. It's good when you want to know how sharp it is." She bowed her head a little. "Thank-you." Her thumb rubbed against the cloth on her finger, and she was a little surprised of how it felt.
When his voice changed, so did her expression. Honestly? She didn't know what she was doing. Running away, it seemed illogical but would it get her out of her situation. She didn't want to stay in case of what happened. She looked down at her lap, and shrugged a little. "Maybe. I don't know..." She hummed a little in thought, thinking about what to do next. She sighed and laid down on her back, her hands behind her head. "I might. It depends, I guess." The brunette stretched her arms up, and looked at the boy, with a curious look on her face.

"I agree, people are just people." He said in response, his voice cheerful and unrestrained. This girl was pretty strange... In more way than one. And one of those was that she didn't seem to mind cutting herself; if only to check and make sure her weapon was sharp. She seemed... So lonely, though... The longer he looked curiously at her, the more sad she looked to him. She must have been through a lot, and whatever had happened back in that house must have really upset her. "No problem." He said, smiling in response to her thanks. He remained on the wall for a moment longer, the jumped down from it on the other side; sitting next to her shamelessly. Just being his usual friendly self.
He thought back to his own adventures; the thrill of travel, the joy of seeing new people and new places, the freedom to do what he wanted when he wanted. It was something many people would die for... But many were unfortunate enough so as to never experience such feeling. This girl certainly had the looks of an adventurer around her, but why was she hesitating at the thought of running away? Hadn't she just stormed out of the house for some reason? Perhaps she wasn't sure if she could make it on her own... No, that wasn't it... She looked like the type to be able to handle travel and its never ending dangers. He shot another sideways look at her, only to see that she had layed down; looking up at the sky. Grinning to himself, he too layed back on the rough ground; the tail stretched out to his side so as not to be squished beneath his weight. "You know, I'm a bit of an adventurer myself... If you do run, and want a travel buddy; I'd be more than happy to oblige. This isn't my world anyway, so there's so much I have to see and do." It was just a friendly offer, she really looked like she needed some company. It was saddening to the blond youth to see a lady like this.
He sat up, raising one knee to rest an arm on while he gazed out into the horizon of the ocean. Oh yes, he longed to search this world; to learn new things and meet new people. It would give him some stories to tell Garnet and his other friends whenever he found out how to get home himself. But travel was always more fun when you weren't alone. He'd long ago learned that first hand. Knowing that you had people you could reply on was a great feeling...

Yuffie nodded. People could be rather confusing at times. They were hard to read, and almost doubly as hard to understand. Especially people you didn't know. You couldn't predict their reactions, like you could to some others that you may know. It all took time, didn't it? People were confusing, but then again, people were just people. You didn't know what to expect. They were unpredictable. A small smile appeared on her face. Yeah, definitely unpredictable. Not even the worlds most intelligent man could figure out emotions. It was almost impossible. Yuffie rubbed the back of her neck, and smiled back at him. That's when it hit her. She was talking to somebody whose name she still didn't know. She had to change that.
An adventurer, huh? This made Yuffie grin a little. The thought of running away partly scared her, but it would be different if she had somebody with her. But this boy was still a bit of a stranger. But when had she begun to care about things like that? She held back a laugh, before nodding. "Hm, ok." She smiled a little. It would do her good to get out of Wutai for a while. It was ather hard being stuck in one place, especially somewhere where she would rather not be. She didn't like being forced to accept responsibilities. Yuffie wasn't ready. Not yet, anyway. "I just... Need to get away, you know?" She released a breath, and rubbed her eyes, before grinning. She needed to have a break. To do something fun and exciting, far away from Wutai.
Yuffie shook her head. "Sorry. Guess I shouldn't be putting all of this on you." She smiled, and chuckled a little, both apologetically. It was true. She didn't want somebody else taking on all her troubles when they probably had some of their own. It was a bit selfish, wasn't it? She flopped down on her back with an almost silent thud. "I'm so confused..." She whined a little, but in a joking tone. It was obvious. Especially with that smile on her face. She shut her eyes for a second. "I never asked. What's your name?" She opened them again, and looking at him, her eyes widening slightly at the sight of the tail. That was a new experience for her. She rubbed her eyes, and looked again. It looked real. After rubbing them a little more, and blinking a lot, she whistled. "I was not expecting that." Despite what she said, she was smiling. "Wow.." She said, still a little surprised.
