His plan was fully in motion. Yeul knew it, nor did she like it, but Caius saw no other way out of this life of servitude towards the goddess, Etro. No longder did Caius want to watch his smaller companion, Yeul die over and over again due to the changes within the timeline. Sure there would be changes, but the abundance of changes lately was causing her to die more rapidly, making Caius a bit more strained within the brain. The madness within was surely starting to slip away from him, he seemed so calm, cool and collected, but with all that was happening, his actions spoke louder than anything. He truly was insane, a madman at that, going about to end the world all for the sake of one girl who he cared for the most out of anyone in existence. After all, he’d been the guardian of the Seeress and timeline for nearly 1000 years by now, it was time to call it quits and finally get a chance at inner peace.
Standing in the streets of Academia, Caius was sure to keep himself scarce from groups of people, he had been observing Noel and Serah’s actions, traveling through the city, going this way and that…but there were two people in which they seemed to trust in this time. A silver haired man by the name of Hope, Caius knew him to be a former comrade of his rival Lightning, but the shorter blond girl b the name of Alyssa…she didn’t seem to have any ties to Noel or Serah, or even his newfound enemy. So, he figured trailing the blond girl would be his best bet at planting some sort of trap for Noel and Serah, from there he would be waiting in the Void Beyond, waiting for them to arrive and for him to take them out, hopefully. He had a plan in mind. Appearing in his hand was a green artifact, it resembled the rings above the city of Valhalla, it would open the broken time gate in the middle of the city, it would lead them to Caius, all he had to do was get this Alyssa girl to give it to them for their hard work in helping out the Academy. It seemed easy enough.
As he kept to himself, trailing his way towards the Academy building, Caius watched as the blond had separated from the majority of her companions within the organization, if he could catch her alone for the most part, then it would be fantastic. Manipulation was always a powerful thing and it was a good thing Caius had a killer poker face, because this was going to be pulled out of thin air, anything he needed to do to save Yeul, he’d do it. With a sinister smirk on his face, he moved away from the shadows, barely crossing paths with anyone as he strode towards the girl, Alyssa. Stalking behind the unsuspecting girl, he quickened his pace, making them longer so he could pass by the girl, standing out of course with his overall darker appearance than the city itself. Turning slightly to cut her off, Caius spoke in a rather hushed tone. “Those friends of yours you’re helping…Noel and Serah, you do realize what will happen should they succeed in their journey?” he shook his head slightly, standing up straight and tall as he looked down at her. “They’re changing the timeline, the past, present and future. A future where you Alyssa Zaidelle, will no longer exist.”
That had to do the trick. Who wanted to be wiped out from all of existence? Well, Caius did, but that wasn’t the point. Giving Alyssa the most serious of looks on his face, he waited, waited for her reaction. She would bend to his will at some point in time, everyone had their breaking point, all he had to do was find hers and exploit it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 742 Muse: Good! She looked intently at her colleagues, listening to them explain, taking down each note mentally. It seemed rather important, what they were talking about. Her face had a deep look on concentration, and she occasionally nodded every few moments, to signify that she was actually listening. Her arms were crossed. Alyssa didn’t know how to reply to all the information she was receiving, so she just stayed silent. However, she couldn’t stay like this for much longer. She still had a ton of work left on her desk that she needed to do. Her head started to hurt just at the thought of doing it all. Still, work was work. And if she didn’t like what she worked as, she wouldn’t have applied for the job to begin with.
Alyssa’s eyes caught look of somebody. It wasn’t hard to miss him. He stuck out like a sore thumb. She couldn’t help but feel curious of why somebody so unusual would visit the Academia. She squinted her eyes, trying to assess him. Well, he didn’t seem like a threat, but she couldn’t be sure. Never judge a book by its cover. However, an unsettling feeling washed upon her. She couldn’t help but think something bad was going to happen. But it was just a feeling. Nothing more. She released a slow breath. Yeah, something was definitely off.
Alyssa checked the time before sighing a little. ”Excuse me. I have to go. See you later.” Each party waved to each other, before she made her way back to the Academia. She scowled a little at the thought of the work awaiting her, and she just couldn’t wait to get started… not. She was completely and utterly dreading it. Some days she could get it done so quickly and others days it just wouldn’t shift. At all. However, she was abruptly cut off. ”Excuse me.”
“They’re changing the timeline, the past, present and future. A future where you Alyssa Zaidelle, will no longer exist.”
Alyssa’s eyes widened. She was already aware of how she died, and was brought back, but… a future where she didn’t exist? Did that mean a future where the death of Nena didn’t happen? Or something different? She tried to speak, but no words would come out. She was in total shock, and she panicked a little bit. She couldn’t move, only barely shaking her head. ”W-what…?” She whispered, looking at the ground. ”W-what do you mean?” She refused to speak barely anything above a whisper, or look up. She didn’t want anybody to see the expression she had on her face. One of utter panic, shock, and confusion. Thoughts of Nena flashed through her mind, but she shook her head. No, she couldn’t show weakness.

Stalking along behind the young woman, Caius felt a sinister smirk twitch ever so slightly on the corners of his lips as he figured what to say to her. He’d seen the timeline just as Yeul had, though his experience in knowing what would become of time in the future wasn’t as deadly as his younger companions. He was no seeress, he would not die from the things he saw, he’d simply traveled around enough to know what was meant to be and what wasn’t. Scaring this young lady with a horrible fate would work, even if it was nothing more than a fib, playing off everything was all he needed to worry about. If he played his cards right, the young woman named Alyssa would believe him, she’d buy into his words, especially being the guardian of the timeline, it wasn’t like he wasn’t knowledgeable, and in fact the paradoxes that were living or being created due to this fantastic trip of Serah and Noel’s…it could very well wipe her from existence anyways.
Having cut Alyssa off, his deep dark tone getting her attention as he went for a straightforward approach, it’d caught her attention obviously. Seeing Alyssa with her head down, quiet words had come from her mouth, Caius knew that already he was getting to her, that was a good thing and so long as she continued to buy into his words, everything would go according to plan. “You heard me. It’s plain and simple really. They’re solving paradoxes. You are a paradox, and as the future changes, so does the past. If they succeed, you will disappear from time, no longer being where you are now.” He spoke starkly, shaking his head slightly while taking a small glance at the few sets of eyes that were burning through him. Scowling slightly he took a step back closer towards the less bright area of the streets, moving more from view as he really did stick out like a sore thumb out here.
“You want to remain alive, don’t you? I can see the fear in your eyes, Alyssa, even though you dare not look up, you want to keep the life you have working for the Academy, should you let Noel and his pink haired companion continue, they’ll erase you from history. What kind of friends would do that?” Caius asked, tilting his head and putting a more polite tone to his voice, he was really going out on a limb here, not having talked so pleasantly since he was last with Yeul, but for now, he was just trying to trick this girl. His plan though, if he could gain her trust in all of this, perhaps she’d seek for his help on what to do to keep herself alive, that’s when he could give her the artefact, the thing that would lead Serah and Noel to their respective places in the Void Beyond, from there Caius would take them out one by one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 610 Muse: Good! Alyssa couldn’t help but find this whole situation rather strange. How did this man even know about her? Her name? It was all too confusing for her. She decided it was all too much. It had taken her a while to forget about it. And yet, now it was like sprinkling salt on old wounds. Burning pain that felt worse. Was that all she was? Just a paradox waiting to be solved? Or was she something different? So many questions flew through her mind, questioning everything. However, what was the point in worrying over some teasing? However, something about his tone and his voice… it made her feel a little strange, like he was expecting something. But she couldn’t be sure of his intentions. He wasn’t an easy person to read. When she tried to, it was like she was faced with multiple padlocks and security. He tried hard to keep himself hidden, that’s for sure. Alyssa faced him, and she released a breath. She knew she was a paradox, but wasn't there a small chance she could live? Even just a small chance? It seemed like all the odds were against her in this one. She wanted to remain alive, but would Noel and Serah even solve her paradox. She had helped them, and in return, got help and friendship back. But, would they throw that away? It all seemed rather possible, even if Alyssa didn't want to believe it. She sighed. "But I thought..." She trailed off a little unsure. She wanted to answer, but no words came out, again. She wasn't sure what to think or what to say, nor what to do. She wanted to live. Alyssa had a life at the Academy. Would Noel and Serah throw that away too? A human life?
In a way, there was really only one answer. If she wanted nothing to change, she would have to stop Noel and Serah. What other way was there? Sure, she might not know who this is, but they seemed to be giving an her almost solution, or puzzling her even more. But, he was right. She had to stop them completely. Alyssa shook her head. "Friends wouldn't do that." She answered plainly, a slightly harder tone hitting her voice. Did Noel and Serah lie to her too? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words;; 402 Muse;; Slowly snapping ! This was starting to turn out to be much easier than Caius had thought. The girl, Alyssa, was buying into his words, he could tell just by her facial expressions, the tone of her words, it was satisfying yes, and he knew that soon she’d have the green artefact in her hands, ready to pass it along to Noel and Serah and from there he’d take the reins of their journey. With his arms folded across his chest, his tall figure standing up straight and staring down at her smaller frame, he kept his tone very blunt and dark like it usually was, giving her straightforward answers and just hiding the pure amusement he felt within. “They are on a mission to solve paradoxes. Serah wants to find her sister, and the only way to do that is to fix the timeline…to solve all of the paradoxes, that means you as well.” He warned, as he took a step back from the blond researcher, his eyes moving to around the city, it really was a good thing he was keeping himself pretty concealed from the world, otherwise there would be problems.
“They do not know what it is they’re doing. They’re reckless, jumping around in time, it’s only a matter of time before you fade from existence. No one will remember you, no one will miss you when you’re gone. To them, you will have never existed, is that really what you want?” Caius asked with a tilt of his head, getting a good read on her face. She was buying it, every word he was selling she was buying, it was slowly eating away at her and he knew it, this was all part of the plan, throwing that idea to her and letting her mull over it for a few moments, all he had to do was wait for the explosion on the inside, if her desire to live was stronger than her desire to provide aid for Noel and Serah, then Caius would be more than happy to assist her in that field, but should she choose to aid them and throw her life away, then so be it, he’d be sure they got the artefact one way or another. He’d be waiting in the Void Beyond no matter what.
Dark violet eyes were still settled on Alyssa, it really was a good thing Caius usually had a calm demeanor, otherwise his patience would’ve ran far too thin by now, still, he wanted to see what this girl would say, but instead of waiting around for her asking for help, he figured it’d be easier and much more convenient to step out and offer the salvation she needed. This artefact, it would keep her alive, would it not? Until the timeline was destroyed by yours truly, it would keep her existence alive, yes. Moving his arms from being folded across his chest, he extended a hand, the green artefact that resembled the circular structures atop the towers of Valhalla, appeared in his hand with a slight glimmer of light. As it floated there, he held it out towards Alyssa. “The broken gate within the city, when Noel and Serah return to this time, it will be fixed. All you have to do is give them this, and your life will be secure. Your paradox will remain unsolved until the end of time.” His own personal twist on the end, the end of time would come much sooner than this girl was probably expecting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 679 Muse: Fantastic! This seemed to be going rather bad for Alyssa. Doubting her existence, feeling empty. She thought she had buried all of these feelings deep down, and kept them locked away. Obviously, he could break down her barriers and bring them unwillingly out to torment her once more. She doubted everything now. Everything. The world around her, herself, her friends, everything. Was anything real? Or was it all just a cruel trick and it was all just an illusion. Everything about her life, was it real at all? Was she really Alyssa, or was she somebody else? She winced slightly. All these questions with no answers at all.
She brought her head up, and looked, a hard, unforgiving look in her eyes. "What can I do to stop them? Or at least, stop them from solving me?" She knew it was bad asking somebody she hadn't seen before about this. How did he even know about her? How did he know details she kept so closely to her soul? Details she had sworn she would not tell anybody she didn't trust. That part deeply confused her.
Would they really not remember her? Would nobody miss her? Not a single person. Knowing that, it hurt. Who decided that she couldn't live any longer? Who had the right? She bit her lip. She didn't want that. She didn't want that at all. Alyssa clasped her hands together tightly. But then a thought hit her. Was what he was saying even true? She didn't know him, and Serah and Noel were only looking for Serah's sister. Didn't that mean they had no business with the paradoxes- with her -at all? It had only been chance that they had ran into one another. Maybe it would have been better if they hadn't showed up. Maybe it would have ended better if they hadn't. "How can I.... How can I stay alive?" She asked.
Alyssa looked at him, and then looked at the object he held. That... was that one of the artefacts? She took it cautiously, unsure. It looked familiar, the structure and the way everything looked as one. Why did it seem familiar to her, she did not know. But she didn't mind either. What was the point in nothing everything about everything? Knowledge may be power, but wasn't the world power-mad as it was? Beside, sometimes, there were things that weren't meant to be figured out. This was an automatic victory for Caius. Watching the blond girl, watching her walls fall down around herself, it was mildly amusing, but he kept his facial expressions completely serious, gazing down at her with the most serious look he could muster at the time. This was just all part of the plan, this girl would be the key, the reason that Noel and Serah would end up in the void beyond, and because he wanted to remain on Yeul’s good side, whichever Yeul it was, this was a plan to keep Serah and Noel from dying. Sending them to the dream world, making sure they stayed there with whatever their hearts desired, that was what he was aiming for, should that not work, of course he had a plan B, but hopefully this minor trick up his sleeve would be the final straw for Noel and the sister of Lightning Farron.
“To stop paradoxes from being solved, you must stop them from their journey. Serah is searching for her sister, and to get to Lightning, she must solve the paradoxes. Get her to quit her journey and your life will be safe.” Caius advised with a small nod, his tone seemingly straightforward, but then again he was also giving off advice that was truthful, so long as the paradoxes weren’t solved, then Alyssa would be safe, until Caius himself ripped the timeline open and destroyed it altogether, unleashing the chaos within Valhalla and having the unknown world take over all of Gran Pulse. Without time, nothing would change, Yeul wouldn’t be seeing changes, she wouldn’t die early, she’d get her chance at a real life and die just like everyone else, and as for Caius? Well, he’d finally have served his purpose, as the guardian of the seeress, and guardian of the timeline, two things he was going to wipe out from history. No more would he have to watch his shale haired companion die in his arms, as sincere as his motives were, his actions were completely insane, anyone would agree.
Smirking a bit as he handed the green looking artefact into the hands of Alyssa Zaidelle, Caius then folded his arms across his chest, continuing to look down at the blond. “You simply give it to them. As a reward of sorts. They’ll be appreciative, they’ll go to the broken time gate which will be fixed when they return to this time, and once they go through that time gate, your life will be safe. I can assure you of that.” He said in almost a polite tone, stepping back from her as a few set of eyes started to turn in his direction, wondering who this dark clothed man was in a bright city like this. Stepping back into the alleyway, he kept his violet eyes on Alyssa, knowing this was going to work, she was going to follow his advice, she was going to give Noel and Serah the artefact, and from there it was all up to Caius to stop them in their tracks, to save Yeul. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 605 Muse: Great! Alyssa gripped the Artefact with both of her hands. She couldn't help but feel a little guilty about what she was about to do, and it felt a little selfish. But who had the right to tell her if she could live or not? It wasn't fair that somebody could play the puppeteer. Was that fair? If it was, the worlds had a cruel judgement for those like her. It wasn't as if she chose to be a paradox. But nothing could be changed, but she needed to stop Serah and Noel, didn't she?
Alyssa needed to make sure Serah quit her journey, right? Then, wouldn't an artefact help Serah? She had to question the logic, but then again, he wanted to help her, right? Alyssa nodded. "Make her quit her journey, got it." She muttered, looking at the artefact. A feeling lurked in her stomach. Something about this just didn't seem right for some reason. What was it? Guilt? Shame? Alyssa couldn't be sure, but it made her feel terrible, and sick. A reward? What type of reward would stop their journey?
Alyssa sighed a little, before nodding once more. She understood what she had to do. She didn't necessarily like it, but she had to do it. The blonde released a breath. "Ok. I'll do it." She sighed, and bit her lip. How would she give it to them? She would need to think of a explanation, or they would get suspicious, right? They weren't stupid. They would understand what she was doing, wouldn't they? She put the artefact away, before nodding Ok..." She whispered, still a little unsure, but what did that matter. She was going to live, right? He’d been right from the get-go. This girl was going to bend to his will and do his dirty work more or less. Poor Alyssa, but at least most of Caius’ words had been nothing but truthful. He’d said that her life would be fine until the end of time, he simply failed to mention that his intentions were to end time altogether. So sooner or later things were going to change for everyone, not just himself and Yeul, but for the entire populace. A somewhat satisfied look crossed his face as he heard her speak, she was going to give them the artefact and call it a day. Caius knew that Noel and Serah would return to this time in a short while, he just had to keep as many sets of eyes off of him for the meantime. Having stepped back enough from the blond, he then took his leave, maneuvering across the city without drawing so much attention to himself. He was heading towards the academy, in a very roundabout way.
No need to get spotted by Noel and Serah, right? So, Caius of course was thinking about the best place to watch them from. To be able to see the gate that they would be going through and sure enough he’d be able to see them with the artefact that Alyssa gave them. Having moved through a nearby building towards an upper level, he stood on the balcony and rested his hands on the railing, looking down and observing, able to see into the academy only slightly, but he could see the time gate as clear as day. The thought of his plan going into motion here was exciting, it brought a smirk to his face, and once Noel and Serah did go through this gate, then he’d simply follow suit. All he had to do now was wait, and sooner or later he was sure the time travelers would show their faces. As he waited, his eyes scanned the city below, looking for anything and anyone that seemed out of place aside from himself and the gate in the middle of the city, it was then his eyes were drawn to a few odd looking people, one he knew well, and the other with pink tinted hair.
Smirking to himself, Caius waited, watched them enter the Academy headquarters and remain in there for several minutes. He could feel the anxiousness of it all, but his patience proved to be better. Watching the two figures and the moogle exit the building, he was on his toes, watching them trail towards the gate, but there had came Alyssa and Hope, the two they’d been speaking to before, that didn’t matter though, watching them have their friendly chit chat, Caius then watched the two time travelers take their leave through the gate via the artefact that greatly resembled Valhalla’s towers. Now was his chance, whether the two Academy members were watching or not, but judging by their turned backs now, he figured this would be easy. Hoisting himself up and over the rail, he let himself drop and become sucked in by the time gate with ease. To the void beyond…that was his next destination in his mission to free Yeul and himself from such a fate like he was given. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 627 Muse: Goodish Tagged: Alyssa Wearing: His usual Listening To: Stuffs Notes: End~
