A wonderful day at the beach was exactly what Class Zero needed after a long year of studying and training, and although some were moping and whining over the fact that they’d been dragged out of bed at around 6:30 AM, most of the class was in good spirits. Cinque, of course, was the one who had most been looking forward to this trip. It wasn’t like she hated school, but she wasn’t all that fond of it either. On the ranking system from lazy to dedicated, Cinque probably stood just above Nine and Jack, and just below Cater and Eight. Yeah, that seemed about right. “Come on, come on, come on!” she called over her shoulder before hopping slightly and turning around to face her classmates as she attempted to skip backwards. It sounded easier than it was. “Hey slowpokes, hurry up!” the redhead painted a frown on her face when her friends didn’t heed her words and just continued to go at their usual relaxed pace. Was she really the only one who wanted to get to the beach as soon as possible so they had more hours of fun today? Because it really did seem that way, with the slow pace everyone had. “Guys!” she called again, but most of them were chatting amongst themselves, not really noticing that the girl who had been skipping way ahead of the rest of the group had turned around to say something. Cinque hated being ignored, and she wouldn’t stand for this nonsense, so rather than quietly accepting her fate and turning back around, the quirky girl jumped forward and grasped two random pairs of arms, tugging on them in an attempt to go faster. Looking up, she noted that she’d grabbed onto Sice and Trey, but that wouldn’t stop her from tugging them along just as hard as she’d tug Deuce or Cater with her.
“Hey Sice, I’m sure a tan would look great on you! Aren’t you just dying to get to the beach?” she told the taller girl with a wide-eyed grin before turning to Trey, “Trey, I promise if you hurry up, I’ll listen to your safety instructions all the way until you’re finished when we get there, alright?” peering past the two people she was holding onto, Cinque finally spotted the culprit of their slow movements; Queen. It seemed that their class president was busily reading some sort of brochure about day trips in this area, and because she was reading it, her pace had slowed down some. A few others were looking over her shoulder and trying to read it as well. That brochure was the bane of her existence right about now. Letting go of Sice and Trey as quickly as she’d grabbed onto them, Cinque managed to squeeze her way through the crowd of fellow beach-going classmates until she reached Queen, who stopped in her tracks after almost running into her younger classmate. Cinque stared Queen right into the eye before turning around and bending over some, placing her hands on her knees, “Giddy up!” she told her with a happy tone, grinning over her shoulder as she waited for Queen to get on her back. That way, she could read and still move at a fast pace, because Cinque would be carrying her. It was no problem for her anyway, because she was used to carrying things that were far heavier than any of the Class Zero girls. She might even be able to carry some of the smaller guys, like Eight or Ace. “Let’s have a piggyback race!” she suddenly announced with widened eyes as though she’d just figured out the meaning of life, “Yeah, that would be really fun!” that was Cinque for you, always coming up with new ideas and changing her mind about pretty much everything. It was this behavior that made people outside of this class steer clear of her, because she was unpredictable like this in almost any aspect of her life. During school projects, she always got new and exciting ideas at the most inconvenient times, and though she didn’t like school as much as most, once she was really into a project, she wanted to pretty much everything. Make a short movie, make a speech… whatever the assignment was.
“Me and Queenie versus Nine and… and…” her grin disappeared entirely when she spotted the mother of all wasps hovering aggressively in front of her face, “NYAAAAH!” she shrieked loudly as she jumped back in a panic and nearly knocked poor Deuce and Ace over, who had been standing behind her. “Get it away, get it away!” she cried helplessly as she swatted her hands at the bug in front of her. Sadly, as Trey would’ve been able to explain to her, this only made the wasp more aggressive. “Nine, King, help!” her hands flew up to grasp Deuce’s shoulders as she shook the shorter girl frantically, before wrapping her arms around the flautist’s neck when she heard the buzzing of the wasp getting closer again, “Deuce, get back! It’s dangerous!” because Deuce could really move away with Cinque practically strangling her with her death grip. Get your logic out of here, this was serious! The wasp was now flying from person to person, and though it was no longer intent on harming just Cinque, she still felt anxious. “Machinan! Look out, it’s coming for you!” she pointed dramatically as the insect lazily flew over to the taller teen, who just took a slight step back and rose a single eyebrow before slapping his hands together and crushing Cinque’s nemesis. Her jaw dropped as she slowly inched closer to where he was standing, and peered cautiously into his hands, where the now dead insect was. “Wooow!” she gasped, looking up at her newest classmate in wonder, “You’re so brave!” Cinque was terrified of insects, especially the ones that could sting or bite you or hurt you in some other way, so she would’ve never dared to go anywhere near that monstrosity. Machina was a real hero. With the wasp gone, the peace returned, but Cinque had completely forgotten what she’d talked about just a moment before. “Umm…” she crossed her arms and pressed one hand against her chin. What had she been talking about again? It must not have been that important. “I’m hungry, can we get something to eat?”
