Dance night.
Queen tucked her hair over her shoulder and looked at herself in the full length mirror. Queen normally wasn’t one to dress up completely fancy, but as she looked at herself, she was quite pleased with the outfit she had chosen. She knew what the little black dress implied. She would be lying if she said she didn’t. Slipping her earrings in, Queen smoothed down her dress, smiling at the mirror. She had quite a few memories back now, more and more every day. King was helping, as he seemed to jar her memory and get her to remember more things. It was a slow process, but lately it had been going faster and faster. Hopefully one day she would have all her memories back.
Either way, perhaps it had been a good thing. From what she had figured out, she wasn’t sure if her and King would ever have admitted to liking each other if her memory loss hadn’t happened. Because she hadn’t been sure of their relationship then, she had felt something more for him. Things had progressed after Trey’s birthday night. Queen turned a shade pinker at the thought. She hadn’t meant for it to go that far, but it had. King had asked her if they had to regret anything. Well…she wasn’t sure, but she did like that it seemed like they were dating now. He had asked her to the date hadn’t he? Touching up her makeup the rest of the way, Queen blinked, turning her head this way and that to look at her hair and face. She had started a braid on one side and braided it down toward the back. It looked good…she thought anyway.
Smiling, she turned and slipped into the heels she had gotten. Bright red, she had been wondering about them, but had decided they were a go. They were attention grabbing, and she was sure King would like them. Well hopefully he would. Queen had eyes for no one else. Buckling her heels onto her feet, she turned to once again inspect herself in the mirror. She looked good. Very good. Smiling, she turned to look at her hair once more, trying to decide if she liked it or not. Finally deciding she did like it, Queen wandered out of her bedroom and into the living room. Not huge, but it didn’t need to be for one person. Fixing things up, Queen spent her time fixing things up before King got there.
Wandering toward her couch, Queen sat on her sofa, her mind turning back to a few days before, when King had…well, he’d spent the night. She had remembered a lot from that. Which sounded scary, but she couldn’t bring herself to regret it. Even now. Sighing slightly, Queen rested her hands on her knees, looking around her. Thinking about the dance, Queen wondered what everyone was going to look like, and what they were all wearing. The girls would probably all be beautiful, the men sharply dressed. She was excited, despite not showing it very much. Excited too, to walk in on the arm of King. People would know then, no doubt.
Yes…time for dancing.

So…tonight was the big night eh? There was a dance being held here at the academy and everyone seemed so excited for it. King had asked Queen to be his date and she’d accepted, it made him very happy and it also confirmed to him that they were indeed an item now. King and Queen, how ironic, it was like they really were made for each other, just by looking at their names. It was funny though, King only had eyes for her, he’d had them set on her for a long time now and finally things were going very smoothly, though…one might say that the night of Trey’s birthday party was just an act of intoxication on King’s part…it really wasn’t. Who would’ve expected that from those two? No one, but hey, King wasn’t complaining. There was nothing to regret, and he was quite happy with the outcome. He’d finally gotten his girl and it was official. That was what made him happy, but even tonight, he and Queen were an item, yet his stomach was doing back flips. He’d never done something like this before. Taken a lovely lady out like this…he wanted to make sure it all went perfect.
There wasn’t much of a plan in his mind at the moment, but he thought things should start off right. He’d pick her up at her dorm and walk with her to the dance room where everyone would be waiting and having a good time. From what he’d heard from Rem and some other students, it was going to be a real good time…classy, something not so typical that you’d expect from a school full of teenagers. And yes, that meant you had to dress up. King was okay with that though, in fact, he looked pretty sharp in a suit. As he walked down the hallway towards Queen’s dorm, a bouquet of twelve beautiful red roses in one hand and the other was fiddling with his tie, making sure it was straight, tight enough, yet not choking him. He wasn’t all that nervous, he was just…nervous. Yeah that made so much sense. He was more excited to see what Queen looked like this evening. Then again, she could have a dress made out of paper sacks and she’s still look amazing. He just wondered…he hoped he didn’t clash with anything, that’s why he went basic black for just about everything, except the small hint of red in his tie…that was it. In the end, even he knew he looked pretty sharp, but the jacket wouldn’t last forever, it was already getting hot.
Stepping up to Queen’s door, he took in a deep breath, moving his hand away from his tie and holding the bouquet up a bit instead of looking lazy or something. Taking his free hand he quickly ran it through his mullet to make sure it was good before straightening his jacket and exhaling a deep breath. Anything that had something to do with Queen always made him a bit…nervous at times, but after the greeting was said and done he was positive that he’d be cool, no longer acting like a fool or anything, he just hoped that once he saw her, he didn’t start grinning like a complete idiot. But I guess if he did that was a compliment to her. King wasn’t much into emotions let alone showing them, but if she could crack a wide smile onto his face then she really was the one for him. He knew that, she had to know that as well. If anyone could get emotion out of King and not make him out to be so intimidating as everyone thought he was…then really, they were the perfect pair.
Knocking a few times against her door, King waited silently, glancing at the roses in his hand and back to the door, he heard footsteps on the other side. She must be wearing heals, he could tell. Well, good thing he was tall compared to some of the other men within Class Zero. Taking in one last deep breath as he heard the handle of the door twist, he had a small smile on his face as the door opened. And then it happened. He began to go stupid. If that makes any sense. Gazing at her up and down, King almost felt as if his jaw would drop to the floor. His eyes widened a fraction and his face was a bit surprised too, but this was a good thing. He eyed the red shoes, the accessories and her hair…but the thing that really drew his attention…was the little black dress. It was simple yet so classy. He knew what it implied, it was supposed to be a jaw dropper, and Queen definitely pulled it off to perfection. Did I mention the jacket was making it hot? King almost wanted to pull at his collar but he sucked it up and tried not to look like a moron. Gazing at her face now, King nodded at her a little bit. “You…look incredible.” He spoke rather quietly as usual before blinking and handing the roses towards her, not really knowing what to say, he was rather speechless…or dumbstruck, or both! “These are for you.” Roses…what a perfect flower, not to mention they certainly tied both outfits together, King was happy for that, and hopefully she liked the flowers. He was just trying to do everything right here, be a proper gentleman.

Sitting on the couch, Queen inspected her nails, smoothed her dress, and cleared her throat. Glancing at the clock, Queen then nervously spun her bracelet. It wasn’t like her to be nervous, but it wasn’t often that she went with her date to a formal dress party. This was somewhat new to her. Besides that, she still hadn’t recovered completely from her amnesia. So…what was she supposed to do? Queen didn’t like not knowing everything she could. Like a blank empty page, waiting to be filled, staring at her. She didn’t like it…staring at her. Waiting to be filled, but she couldn’t seem to fill it. Pieces here and there, but nothing much really. It frustrated her. Queen wanted everything to fall into place, and so far it wasn’t doing so. Clearing her throat, Queen waited for a few more minutes, before leaning back and closing her violet eyes. Resting for a few seconds, she waited for her date to arrive.
The ring of the doorbell alerted her. Opening her eyes and lifting her head, Queen blinked and cleared her throat. Standing up, she smoothed her hair and dress down, making sure she still looked good, before making her way to the door. She wanted to know that she looked good enough. Taking a quick peek at the mirror as she walked by, Queen hesitated at the door, before turning the knob and opening it. There she saw her date, looking quite spiffy. Queen appraised him, noting that he was wearing her same colors. Red and black. Smiling, Queen’s face softened as she stood and admired him. This had been a good idea, going with him to the dance. She had fussed much more then normal on her clothes, makeup and hair. It had taken her multiple attempts to get her hair looking anywhere near what she had wanted. Now it looked good, at least in her mind.
“You…look incredible.”
The smile widened. Queen took a step out the door, noting just how dressy he looked in his formal wear. “Thank you. You look dashing tonight.” And he did. In mostly black with a bit of red to compliment it, he looked extremely classy. She had to admit, she hadn’t quite seen him ever look so…refined. She was used to him being good looking, and he always cut a nice clean figure in his uniform, but this was so…different. Queen really liked it. She couldn’t lie. Really, really liked it. And was happy that he liked her outfit. Queen had spent an entire day walking to different shops and looking there for a dress that would be appropriate. She had liked the black ones, but had been drawn to this dress. Simple, elegant, it was clean cut and didn’t have a lot of needless stuff on it, which only made it better in her eyes.
“These are for you.”
Queen looked down as he handed the flowers to her. Blinking and watching them come toward her more, Queen finally reached her hand out. Clasping them, she smiled then and looked back at him, her violet eyes shining. Twelve red roses? She knew what that meant. It warmed her heart. Never being one to be ashamed of her feelings, Queen took a step closer to clasp them. Holding them in her hands, she brought them up to press them to her nose. She hadn’t expected twelve red roses. Lately she had been learning more and more that King could be quite the romantic man, especially when he wanted to be. Stepping even closer still, she leaned forward and hugged him, before drawing back and looking at them again. “They’re beautiful.” Turning, she gestured for him to come in. “Come on in, I’ll put them in water before we leave.” Smiling, she walked back in her dorm, hips swinging from walking in heels. Going toward her small kitchen, Queen stretched to reach the vase that the flower would go in. Getting it finally, she brought it down and started filling it with water. Finally accomplishing that, Queen placed the flower in the water and fussed over them, moving them here and there. Finally stepping back, she cocked her head to the side. “There. That looks good. I do love them King.” Turning toward him, her eyes sparkled and a wide grin split her features. “Ready?”

As King stood outside Queen’s door, the flowers in his hands, he just gazed at the door handle, waiting for any sign of twitching so show that Queen was about ready to open the door. He wanted to make sure he was gazing at her when she opened the door instead of watching down the hall or keeping his eyes burned into the ground. She was the only thing and living person he wanted to see this evening, and no matter what she was wearing, no matter what she looked like, it didn’t matter. Queen was Queen, nothing more, nothing less, she was absolutely perfect the way she was…and when the door opened to reveal a beautiful woman in that little black dress…all of those thoughts had been completely engraved into his brain. After a moment of eyeing her up and down from heal to head, he felt the smile twitch at his lips before complimenting her attire, and she returned the compliment, making King feel a little better about how he looked. It was a good thing he went with basic black, dark yet classy, and the touch of red seemed to be a good idea as well…convenient eh?
“Thank you.” He gave her a simple nod before practically shoving the flowers at her, yet it wasn’t as rough as that. He kept his hazel eyes looking into her violet ones as she then grasped the flowers and smiled. That smile was the only reaction he had wanted. He just wanted to make her happy, no matter what it took. Even if it meant all this silly dressing up, flowers and anything else she wanted along the way. She was his one and only, and although they were still young, he was proud to say that his heart wasn’t looking for anyone else, no one different. They’d grown up together, been great friends, and feelings had developed, there was no one in the world more amazing than Queen in his eyes. It sounded a little mushy, I know, but it was the truth, Queen was his one and only, there was no changing that. Not a girl in the world could catch his gaze as well as she could, especially now. She obviously had the idea of that ‘little black dress’ down to perfection, it was enough to any man turn their heads, which didn’t concern King at all. He knew very well that Queen was an attractive woman, if she turned heads, it just made him even luckier to call her his girlfriend.
As she examined the flowers, smelling them, Queen had then moved forward and hugged King for them. Still amazed at her choice of attire, he wrapped one arm around her to return the embrace before she pulled back and invited him inside. He trailed behind her and simply stood in the doorway, pocketing his hands now that they were free instead of clutching onto a beautiful bouquet of flowers. “I’m glad you like them. I figured you would.” He gave a small confident smirk as he wandered around a bit, watching her play around with the flowers, being picky about how they sat in the water, it amused him and until she finally got them perfect, he kept his gaze on her. As she turned back to him, that smile still remained on his face as he shrugged a bit, he was definitely ready to get going. He didn’t know what to expect at this dance but from what he heard it was like a real classy party. Food, friends, and of course dancing. He couldn’t wait to dance with her actually. He wasn’t like a star dancer or anything, but he would survive the night, dancing with her and enjoying every second of it…that was all this dance was for, for students and their friends or significant others to enjoy a night of relaxation, to get away from the books and exams for once.
Moving one hand out of his pocket, King held out his arm and slightly bent it towards himself, a smirk on his face as he turned a bit towards the door and opened it back up and stood off to the side a bit. “Of course, we don’t want to be too late.” He said with a smile as he gazed at Queen some more, still astounded by her dress. It was just so pretty, it fit her perfectly and he certainly noticed that. He was a lucky man to escort her to the dance, and hopefully she felt the same way about him, all he wanted to do was make this evening as amazing as possible. Anything she wanted to do, it would be done. If she wanted to sit around and watch people all evening, that was fine. If she wanted to dance for the entire time, he’d be there to hold onto her and enjoy the night with her, if she wanted to skip out on the dance altogether and go walk around the school, he’d do that too, but judging by the way she was dressed, she had no intention of ditching the dance. They both were obviously looking forward to this, and for good reason…this was just another moment to spend together, another moment to let the feelings continue to blossom into something even more beautiful than it already was. “I know I already said it once, but it certainly needs repeating. You look absolutely perfect. I couldn’t ask for a more stunning date.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1035 Muse: Great! “I’m glad you like them. I figured you would.”
With a small smile, Queen continued fussing with the flowers. They were beautiful, and she wanted them to look perfect in their vase. Moving this flower here, and then that flower there, Queen finally thought they looked perfect. Staring at them, she smiled and gently touched the petals of one flower, before turning back to her date. Looking as dashing as could be in the clothes he had picked out; her strides took her in his direction. Any girl had to be excited for the night, aside from perhaps Sice.
Queen had heard from various students that Seven had been seen dragging her out to buy a dress, which she found somewhat amusing. It was a nice thing that Sice had a room mate and friend who would do that for her, as she might not have been dressed as nice if she hadn’t. Queen herself at times envied those that had a room mate. Then she thought about it, and decided she liked her privacy, and the peace and quiet that she could have.
“Of course, we don’t want to be too late.”
Nodding, Queen couldn’t help the smile that wouldn’t leave her face. She couldn’t remember if she was a good dancer or not, but somehow she imagined that she liked dancing. She felt this excitement that wouldn’t leave her. An excitement that was built up and fueled. She had been excited while picking out her dress. Excited while picking out her heels. Excited while picking out her jewelry. Excited at who she was going with. Stepping forward to walk near him, Queen accepted the arm that was handed out toward her. Slipping her hand underneath his arm, she held it lightly and smiled up at him. Though the heels were giving her extra inches, Queen was nowhere near as tall as he was.
“I know I already said it once, but it certainly needs repeating. You look absolutely perfect. I couldn’t ask for a more stunning date.”
Queen’s smile came back, and she simply walked beside him for a few more strides. Finally she leaned her head over to rest against his shoulder even as they walked. It felt good, having someone that she knew would take care of her, and cared about her. “Thank you. Though I think you’re altogether too nice.” Lifting her head back from off his shoulder then, she turned her gaze toward him, violet eyes almost adoring. She cared more for him then she did for anyone else that she knew. Not only was he kind, caring, but he was strong.
Queen had always been drawn to him for that. As small children, for a protector, and later as a comrade and friend, finally, now as someone she liked more then that. Perhaps it was odd, that forgetting her past had made her realize just how much she cared about him. She didn’t regret it though, wouldn’t ever regret it. “Are you ready to dance?” Queen was ready to dance, but for some reason, she wondered what the night would be like. Perhaps later on she could ask him if he wanted to go star gazing, when she was warm from dancing or something.

Queen looked absolutely perfect, if not better than perfect…who knew that was possible? All King knew was that he needed to keep himself rather busy so his jaw wouldn’t drop all the way to the floor. His eyes were simply glued to her as she messed around with the flowers, making sure they looked just as perfect as she did, it was really a smart move to have brought that bouquet of flowers, she seemed pretty happy to get them, almost as happy as King was to give them to her. She deserved nice things every once in awhile, every woman did. Hopefully King was displaying himself as a respectable young man instead of trying too hard, he didn’t think he was, besides, tonight was a night for going over the top to impress that one special person. He smiled at her, almost wanting to mentally scold himself for over thinking all of this, he needed to relax and just enjoy the evening with his favorite person. He wouldn’t rather do anything else, unless she wanted to. But no, the dance seemed pretty set in stone for the pair, and King was looking forward to it, he was pretty sure over half of the student body was excited for it though.
After Queen had taken his arm, King felt more like a gentleman than he had only moments before. Escorting her out of her dorm, shutting the door being him and then starting down the hallway at a steady and almost slow pace, his eyes gazed ahead, even just the walk to the dance was pretty exciting, Queen on his arm and leaning against his shoulder…it was a perfect cinema moment, wasn’t it? He appreciated it and with that grin still on his face, they continued to walk, of course he had to compliment her again, he couldn’t go long without thinking about her and how wonderful she looked this evening. When she lifted her head off his shoulder, his gaze shifted to her, listening to her words before nodding once. “I might as well speak the truth, even if it does seem like I’m being ‘too nice’.” He said before looking forward, just as content as ever, passing a few different students and couples as they trailed towards the main room where the dance would be held. He wondered what it would be like…in his head he thought it’d be fairly simple, but then he remembered who planned it. Simple didn’t seem like it’d even belong in Rem’s vocabulary. It had to be very elegant no doubt.
Was he ready to dance? Well, so long as she was in his arms, he’d have to say yes, so with a small nod, he looked back at her once more, wondering if she was excited for it as well. “Of course, it’d not every day the school does something like this, but…I haven’t actually done much dancing in my lifetime.” He shrugged a bit, before facing forward again, seeing the doors to the room opening and closing with students filing in and out, happy faces, beautiful dresses and suits, it really was something classy. As they got to the doors, King moved a bit, still keeping next to Queen but moving enough to open the door for them to walk through, her still on his arm, which was always the best entrance to make. Looking sharp with a girl on your arm, it surely said something, and King was happy they hadn’t been one of the first few to arrive, the room was filling up rather nicely, and he’d recognized a few people from Class Zero already. Rem and Machina, Trey and Sice, he was pretty sure he’d also seen Eight tap Cater on the shoulder and try some sort of hiding technique, it made him chuckle a little as they emerged into the room, and it was exactly like he thought. Nothing simple, very elegant. Tables set up with placements, food and of course the dance floor. It was an experience like no other.
Moving away from the doors, King stopped walking and turned to Queen, wondering what it was she wanted to do first. It was always respectful and very gentleman-like to let the lady decide what to do, right? At least for events like this. “Where do you want to start?” he asked curiously, if she wanted to dance first, then so be it. He’d dance for hours if that was what would make her happy, just to be able to hold her close and really show her that he cared. Not only were the flowers a good sign of that, but also the fact that he was willing to let her decide on tonight’s agenda, he really did care for her. He’d make sure she knew that everyday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 913 Muse: Kinda stubborn lol Tagged: Queenie! “Of course, it’d not every day the school does something like this, but…I haven’t actually done much dancing in my lifetime.”
A smile lifted onto the lips of the young woman at that comment. He made it sound like a terrible thing that he hadn’t danced a lot. Honestly, she hadn’t either. Though she had a knack for dancing, Queen couldn’t say there had been much opportunity. Many of the memories were back now, or had come back. After piecing together that they’d been from an orphanage growing up, it had started to come back in leaps and bounds. Now came the challenge of putting it all back together again. Events, times, dates. They were all screwed around in her head, a jumbled up mess, waiting to be straightened and put back in their proper position. Sadly, Queen didn’t exactly know what that was, but she wasn’t about to give up. Not when she was so close to getting it all back.
But the matter at hand didn’t have anything to do with her condition, or regaining her memories. Patting his arm lightly, Queen smiled slightly, glancing over at him. “There hasn’t been all that much opportunity, so I don’t blame you. Honestly King, I’m sure not a lot of people at the dance are extremely accomplished at the art. We’ve been to busy training and surviving our classes to be able to do anything like this.” Whoever had come up with the idea, Queen should thank. Though perhaps she was colder, Queen did enjoy having fun, and had been interested in going ever since she had heard about it. Fun in moderation was needed, it was those that took it to an extreme that she frowned upon. Children who did nothing but party and live one bit life of entertainment. That was all fine and dandy, until suddenly real life was slapped in your face. That waited on no one to grow up.
Walking into the dance, Queen’s eyes were greeted by the dance floor, perfectly decorated. Adjusting her glasses with her free hand, she kept quiet as she looked around. There had obviously been a lot of work put into this dance. Those that had taken care of the preparation, had a knack for making sure everything looked perfect. And it did. From the ceiling, to the floor, everything was shining and decorated perfectly. “Rem did a good job.” Most impressive. Queen found herself almost enchanted by the scene, and drank it all in. This place was shining and ready for the night, as were all the people. Turning her gaze then, onto the students and others that were there, Queen caught sight of fancy dresses, heels, and sharply dressed men. Obviously everyone had put their all into wearing their best.
“Where do you want to start?”
Gazing at the couples already occupying the dance floor, she smiled and nodded her head in that direction. “Perhaps a dance first?” Of course, if he wanted to watch the dancing and not do it quite yet, she understood that, and wouldn’t push it. She couldn’t imagine him being bad at it though. After all, he was light on his feet, and definitely flexible, he should have no problem mastering this, just as he’d mastered his guns and that guitar that he played.

King was quite thrilled since the day he’d asked Queen to be his date for this dance. He was looking forward to it no matter how…un-king-like it was. He just kept a smile on his face as they walked through the halls and eventually made it to the room where this dance was being held. It really was decorated very elegantly, nothing was corny about this at all. It looked like some powerful and very rich organization had put this together. It had a comforting feeling, along with a loving one as well. Nodding at Queen’s statement, King couldn’t help but agree. “She did.” He simply commented, as his eyes took in everything again, but those fancy decorations couldn’t compare to the young lady on King’s arm. Taking another glance at her, just admiring the view, King didn’t say anything, he wanted to let her decide what it was they were going to do. He didn’t mind no matter what it was, so long as Queen was happy he would be just as happy.
As he looked out among the crowd of dancers, greeters and eaters, King smirked a bit. People were definitely not missing out on this event. It seemed that the entire school was here, which made him smile even more. People were having fun already, the smiles on their faces assured him of that. But when Queen spoke up, he took his attention off all those other people and gazed at her. So she wanted to start off with a dance? That could be done. Slipping his arm out of her grasp, he turned to her fully before extending a hand to her. “I’d be honored.” King gave her a small nod as his grin widened. He didn’t think there would be a problem dancing, he knew how to move around pretty quick and swiftly without tripping over himself, but it wasn’t like he’d ever really had practice even dancing with a partner before, all he really knew was to lead and take it from there.
With Queen’s hand in his, he turned and led them onto the dance floor but not into the middle of the floor where the giant crowd of people were. He didn’t want to bump into other couples and dancers while they were enjoying their time, besides, being crowded made things less fun. King wanted room for he and Queen to dance in. Stopping and looking back at Queen, he stood there for a moment, pausing, not really knowing if they wanted to just start dancing now, but he figured that’s what she wanted to do since she brought it up. He remembered what it was he was supposed to do, lead, so putting a hand on her waist, and the other still on her hand, he gave her one final nod as if to say he was ready to start dancing. Whoever started the idea of a dance was a genius, just because King could already see the happy couples taking advantage of a moment like this. His eyes had already scanned the floor and it seemed that most everyone had a pair with them, if not, a group of friends, but every just seemed thrilled, the couples especially. It was a moment to spend time with that one special someone and admire them, getting to be close without having teachers frantically run around with ‘charts’ or ‘talks’, this was harmless.
“Are you ready?” King said slightly raising an eyebrow at her, still giving her that slight smile on his face, which was quite amazing actually. If he smiled it wasn’t usually this long, and of course he’d had some form of a grin on his face ever since Queen opened the door to her dorm. She was something worth smiling about. As the music switched over to something a bit slow, it was like the music knew. Whoever the DJ was, props to them. Finally, it was probably time to get moving. Staring slow, King moved, leading her around a bit, turning when needed and extending his arm to spin her, just keeping it rather simple. “I’d be honored.” With a little smile, Queen nodded and smoothed down her dress. How had she gotten so lucky? Or did luck play any part in this? Cocking her head to the side, she studied his face and pondered slightly about them. It seemed that now they were doing good, dating and they had the whole ‘relationship’ thing down fairly well. Each knew when to give and when to take. They’d had somewhat of a rough start, but that was in the past now. And here they were, at a dance, and he was willing to dance, without being forced to go up there. Queen well knew just how rare that was. Glancing across the room, she saw men with apprehensive looks on their faces, not really wanting to go out there, and probably only doing so to impress the girls on their arms. King might not want to go out there, but he didn’t look like she was forcing him, or like he was on his deathbed to go out there and dance. She felt a smile come up on her lips at that, her eyes lifting and looking at the man that was standing by her. She was proud to say that he was ‘hers’.
Then again, it wasn’t hard to be proud of having him. Even now, as she studied him with calm violet eyes, Queen sized him up and down, thankful that they had gotten over the awkward period, and could move on. She, for one, was very much looking forward to what the future had to bring. A smile tipped up onto her features as she willingly followed him across the dance floor. Some other students smiled and spoke to them, their greetings or nods of their heads. Queen spoke her own greetings, putting together names and faces in her mind. After the amnesia, many things had come back. It was a gradual process, but there was forward motion. If there was that, then she could be content. The strangest situations triggered events and memories in her head. A pancake…how did a pancake King made for her trigger the fact that she now knew that Class Zero, aside from Rem and Machina, had grown up in an orphanage? Odd things like that, but she wasn’t complaining. Even some other things were coming back, but along with that, came some weird things. Things she couldn’t explain…but…this wasn’t the time or place to be worrying or thinking about it.
“Are you ready?” Blinking, Queen noticed then that they were out in the dance floor. Directly after that she noticed where he had positioned them. Out and away from the largest group of couples, this was toned down somewhat , less wild, with a smaller chance of getting run down by someone. Though she noticed, she didn’t comment on it, but just raised her hand to rest lightly on his shoulder and adjusted the hand that was clasped in his. Taking another step closer, warm violet eyes looked up at him. The heat radiating from his body warmed her own and made her comfortable. By the end of the night she might not be quite so happy about the body heat. They were in an enclosed place with many sweating bodies, it was bound to get extremely warm. When it did, or when they got sick of watching people dance and dance themselves, Queen was going to ask if he wanted to go out and stargaze. She hadn’t done that in forever, and the night was perfect to do just that. Besides that, Queen wouldn’t mind some time alone with just him.
She realized at that moment that he had asked her a question. Nodding slightly, Queen wiggled her nose to try and adjust her glasses without the use of her hand and then cocked her head to the side. “I’m ready if you are.” Giving him another smile, Queen tried to be encouraging. Though he wasn’t showing it, she was sure he had to be slightly apprehensive about dancing. Then again, he was confident in almost everything he did. Even if he wasn’t exactly comfortable inside with something he was doing, he always gave off the appearance that he was. A quality she admired about him.

Surprisingly, King had been looking forward to this dance, it was a good opportunity to spend time with friends and especially Queen, and what girl didn’t find it romantic to dance and receive flowers? It was a great opportunity indeed, and he wasn’t going to mess it up, Queen was going to be happy, even if it killed him, he’d make sure she had a smile on her face for the entire duration for the dance. If he had to twirl her around the entire night, then that’d be okay with him, so long as she was happy, and really, none of this was going to kill him…he would of course enjoy himself and be happy to see everyone have such a good time, besides, dancing wasn’t exactly the worst thing in the world, not that King knew if he was any good, he just had to remember to make sure he didn’t step out of place or trip over himself, but being the calm type he was, and able to take his time with just about anything, he was sure that things would go smoothly, if not for his sake, than for Queen’s.
Leading her across the dance floor, away from the massive mob of people dancing and having a grand time, King decided it’d be easier to enjoy the moment if they had their own space and didn’t have to worry about clashing into another couple or group of people from being so close together, having a bit of room would give him ample opportunities to spin her around and what not, instead of swaying from side to side the entire time, or worse, having no room to move at all would not suffice. Queen wanted to dance, so that’s what they’d do. After reaching a fairly nice and open spot, King turned to Queen and started to get himself ready to dance, the typical placing one hand on her waist and the other would clasp her hand, he was just…ready to get things started. As he looked down at her, she’d placed her hand on his shoulder and their hands were finally laced together, it made him smile a bit wider. It wasn’t so much that the dance itself had pleased him, it was the company who had agreed to go with him, as his date, that was what he had been looking forward to the most.
Nodding slightly with that small smile still lingering on his lips, King then figured it was time to get this show on the road, they were all set up to dance now, and he was feeling a bit nervous about it, not having really any experience in this field of…dancing, or a girlfriend for all that matter, he just wanted to keep things easy for Queen. You give a little, you take a little, it was a team effort, and if anyone could accomplish something like this, especially after all the awkward they’d woken up to one morning…well, then they could conquer just about anything that was thrown their way. “Alright then.” He briefly spoke, even if the music didn’t exactly match the pace of the dance, that was okay, nothing could’ve been playing and everything would’ve been just fine. So with that thought in mind, King gave one final nod before stepping and leading Queen around with slow movements. A few swayed movements before slowly turning them slightly, it was almost natural, from what King had seen or actually experienced in the very little dancing him he’d had in his life time, this was pretty good, and he was actually quite proud of himself, hoping Queen was having a good time and hoping he wasn’t missing something he should’ve remembered or caught onto.
A few moments had passed, King raised his hand that was clasped to Queen’s, up and over her head to twirl her around before bringing her back to him, hand on her waist again and just starting the routine of the dance over once more, moving slowly across the little area he’d sort of claimed for them. It was a lot easier out here rather than the middle of everything chaotic. Admiring his date a bit more, King just kept his eyes on her, not letting them wander once, why would he need to look elsewhere? She was the most stunning woman in the room – although if he said that to any other man in the room, there would most likely be a huge debate – still, King stood by his opinion, she really was beautiful, no matter if she were in dress or the traditional Class Zero uniform, he hoped she knew it and if she didn’t….he’d have to remind her, over and over and over again. “You look beautiful.” He said almost in a whisper as they continued through the dance, slow movements, a good moment…things were looking right in King’s eyes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 929 Muse: Good! Being led out onto the dance floor, Queen offered no resistance to the man leading her. Violet eyes twinkled instead of the old intelligence that played normally. Though she didn’t normally walk in heels either, she had a natural grace that helped to do so with ease, though a few times she did feel like she was going to fall over if she made one wrong move. Stepping carefully to avoid doing so, Queen clasped his hand and felt the warmth that was there. Warmth between their hands physically, but between them as well. Perhaps it had started a bit rocky, with her having amnesia and then the night of Trey’s birthday, but now it seemed as if everything between them was perfect. Though perfection seemed to be in the eye of the beholder, Queen was fairly confident that everything was perfect with him. He was considerate, easy to talk to, affectionate in a very masculine way, and Queen felt like he would always be there for her. Theirs was an easy relationship. You took and you gave, that was how it was supposed to go, and how it did go between them. Then again, King did most of the giving it seemed like. She would have to work on that and do things with him. Maybe she should have him teach her how to fire a gun. Didn’t men love to teach something?
Feeling his hand slide to her waist, Queen’s hand settled on his shoulder, stepping close to him. It wasn’t a slow song, but neither was it a fast song. Her hand still held tightly in his, she could feel that heat radiating from his body. Though she was natural looking on the outside, because she didn’t dance every day, she found herself counting out the steps in her head and moving her feet accordingly. This was definitely different in heels versus flats as well. There was a trick to it, and she had yet to learn it, though she put in a valiant effort and she did look graceful despite not being quite at ease in the tall red shoes. If she spent more time in heels then this would be easier, but instead she bit the inside of her mouth slightly and kept count in her head, concentrating on the movements of her feet. Thankfully he was a good leader, despite not doing it a lot either, and Queen soon found herself at ease dancing next to him.
The twirl came as somewhat of a surprise. Because of her trust in him and actually following his movements however, she was able to twirl and come back in easier then she thought she would be able to. Smiling up at him, Queen sighed and then lost herself in the swaying she was doing, the music, and the soft lights that had been dimmed to create a romantic mood over the dance floor. The dance started to slow then, and Queen felt herself take in a breath as it did, before leaning against him more then before. Finally she laid a head on his shoulder, swaying along side him to the music, which was putting a chill down her spine.
“You look beautiful.” Lifting her head then, Queen blinked against the soft light and smiled up at him. Everything was so soft around them, the music making her sway against him. Overcome in the moment, she lifted herself on tip toes and kissed him lightly, before pulling away and smiling at him again, a soft look on her face. “Thank you.” Easy. Their relationship was so easy. Sometimes Queen felt sorry for people that had these relationships where you had to dance around the other, always afraid to step on their toes. She couldn’t believe that that night had turned out so good. “It helps when I’ve got the best looking man.” She spoke the truth. Biased truth, but whatever.

As much of a disaster as it could’ve been if King wasn’t leading a dance right, it turned out to be very great actually. They both seemed to be dancing with ease and that made King feel a little relieved, although he wasn’t really worried to begin with, or at least he hadn’t shown it. He tried to keep his thoughts and emotions unreadable, unless he wanted them to be shown, and fear was something he never wanted to show, especially to someone like Queen. He wanted to remain confident and able to do anything he put his mind to, and he wanted her to believe that of him. Although there were many times he might’ve been a bit fearful, or uncertain, he always masked it very well, this was no exception, despite the sort of soft mood that this place was more or less advertising, he still kept to his rather…stoic ways, smiling a bit here and there because of who he was with, but nothing completely different than how he usually acted. Lack of words, expressions, that was just how King was, there was no changing that.
But of course there were exceptions for everything.
With easiness of the dance, King moved them around the small area they had and just kept his silence going strong, sort of enjoying the fact that they weren’t even going to the beat of the music, which was faster than a slow song, but not exactly a rave sort of song, it was just somewhere in between, danceable, but not slow dance worthy. That didn’t matter to King, he enjoyed it no matter what, especially when Queen felt comfortable enough to rest her head against his shoulder. That was where he almost expected Mother to pop up going ‘TOO CLOSE’ or something, but that was just a funny image in his head, it wouldn’t happen, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t keep an eye out just in case. His movements slowed as she was leaning against him, and the moment just…there weren’t really words to describe it aside from calming, relaxing, and more than King had expected it to be. He wasn’t sure what to expect from a dance here at the academy, but so far everything had been perfect, like some sort of prom that they never had…something worth remembering.
Breaking the silence with a compliment, King felt a tiny smile tug at his lips as he gazed down at Queen when she moved and looked at him. If he was correct, then their relationship really would last, it was almost perfection. If people hadn’t thought they were dating before and were paying close enough attention, they’d be proved wrong. The cat was out of the bag, not that anything was being hidden, it was just…there didn’t need to be a huge announcement over things like this, and some couples were that way, exclaiming their so called ‘love’ for another person all over the academy with a parade or something stupid like that. No, King was very…classy so to speak, letting things just go on their own and people could figure out for themselves whatever the hell was going on. Right now it wasn’t difficult to tell.
King had stopped moving them, they just kind of stood there, and the soft kiss just added to the more romantic atmosphere of the moment. As they stood there, King’s smile sort of widened a bit as she thanked him and dished out her own compliment to him. Moving his hand from her waist and towards her face, he tucked a bit of hair behind her ear and barely grazed her cheek before looking across the crowd, which in his mind was very tuned out to him. “This really was a good idea.” He said before gazing back at his date and lowering his hand back to her waist, giving a small nod almost towards the dance crowd, he shrugged his shoulders and raised an eyebrow ever so slightly. “Another dance?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 776 Muse: Pretty good! There were stars in her eyes as she looked up at him. King was one of those people that you didn’t have to worry would start drama over nothing. Queen had always hesitated at a ‘relationship’ with someone because of that. So many times she had seen someone start dating and then it had all fallen apart almost instantly. They both got jealous and manipulative, but somehow she couldn’t see that happening with them. King was steady and sure, dependable and strong, appealing qualities. Perhaps it was too early to know what just what was going to happen with them, but Queen had never felt this way about anyone. He was her first. She just hadn’t ever had the time to think about relationships. Too busy making sure her grades were perfect and learning how to use her sword in case of an attack. Despite this being a normal high school, Queen and the rest of them knew that if there was an attack they would be on the front lines. They lived with that knowledge, and trained with it.
Still, for some reason, there seemed to be room for a relationship now. King was great to her, and Queen could feel herself fall for him. If she knew what they had all gone through in the last take on life, dying, all of that, Queen wouldn’t wonder where these emotions came from. Now though, everything seemed like it would be okay. Like they would never have to go to war, like they could just grow up normally. The future was going to bring war, heartache and anger, but at this point she knew none of that. To her, this was going to last forever. This little fantasy, the romantic atmosphere and the dance, being in the arms of King and not having to worry about what was going to happen in the future. He would make sure it was all alright. She had that trust in him. He was so steady, like the tree in blossom in the middle of the school. It was hard to imagine life without it, or him, and she thought she would never have to see the end of this.
Little did she know.
None of that really mattered right now. As they stilled until basically standing there, Queen’s eyes shone and she looked up at him with a tender look in her normally colder violet eyes. “Yes. Remind me to thank Rem.” Breathing that out, Queen blinked and looked away for a moment, before feeling his hand gently touch her cheek. Turning her gaze back toward him, Queen glanced at his hand, which had just tucked the hair behind her ear. Eyes followed his hand until once again she settled on his face. Blinking, she smiled then against the dim lights that made him almost glow. Everything about the setting and this night was almost perfect, it couldn’t get better, at least to her knowledge. She couldn’t have put on anything nearly this good even had she tried, so she was glad there was someone like Rem to make it so nice for them. Queen would have to thank her.
At his words, Queen finally realized that they weren’t actually dancing any more. She hadn’t noticed before that the dance had ended or that they were now just standing on the dance floor with a few other couples who were waiting for the next song. Swallowing, she smiled then and nodded up at him. “I would like that, unless you don’t want to, and then we can sit.” Feeling the eyes of the crowd on her, Queen raised her head proudly. If people hadn’t known that they were dating before now, then it was pretty obvious now. Queen knew there would be tongues waggling, but she didn’t care. It was truth, they were together, and people would talk no matter what. Why not give them something to talk about? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 817 Muse:; Good! The first dance had been nice, King enjoyed himself and it almost seemed effortless with Queen. Moving swiftly across the dance floor and not having to worry about anyone else, it was nice, and he was really glad he decided to ask her to come with him. If he hadn’t asked Queen to be his date tonight, he probably wouldn’t have even bothered to show up. It was best just to make use of the time he had to enjoy before things started spiraling downwards into complete and utter chaos. Something he didn’t want to have to worry about for a long time now, but he knew that he couldn’t count on all this happiness continuing forever. There was still a slight problem, not only with himself, but with his best friend as well. King had done very well lately putting that out of sight and out of mind, but as time went on, it began to creep into the back corners of his mind, as it should, since he, like Nine, was running on borrowed time, and Etro only knows how long they had before everything fell to pieces.
Right now, all he was concerned about was Queen, getting to spend as much time with her as possible and make her happy. He’d left life once before, then again, so did the rest of class zero whom barely if even remembered those tear jerking moments, he didn’t want to waste any time being lazy or shy. It’s why he had been so bold as to ask Queen to be his date, he glad she agreed, and seemed just as content as he was as they moved across the floor, slowly, yet elegantly. With a sincere and convincing smile on his face, he enjoyed just holding her in his arms twirling her around to whatever beat what playing in the background of it all, it didn’t matter the pace of the song, a slow dance was what he had started off with, besides, he was fairly positive any of the fast paced stuff could be left to the groups of people, not the couples who seemed to be enjoying their partners more than the dance itself. But even still, the way this place was decorated, Rem really did deserve some props, if everyone showed their appreciation for what the small brunette had done, well then she best feel good about her hard work.
Smirking a bit, King nodded slightly. “I should thank her as well.” He added briefly onto Queen’s comment before silencing himself and just letting the moment flow for a bit longer, the music dying down and getting ready to switch to another track. Asking her for another dance, King stood there, still in the expected dancing position as he waited on her answer, which was quite alright with him. If she wanted to dance, then so be it, that’s what they’d do, he wasn’t as against it if at all. He enjoyed it now that he knew he wouldn’t mess anything up, and she seemed quite happy by the smiles that kept appearing on her face. This really was the time to forget about school and focus on just being happy, he could deal with that easily. So long as she was here with him, then everything would be okay, and besides, everyone would be on their best behavior tonight, what could ruin something so nice like this? “That sounds fine.” He responded before letting his gaze sweep the room, seeing if he could spot anyone else he really knew within the crowd of people. They must’ve been dispersed all across this large room, he could always go try and track someone down later, just to see how things were going. Besides, mingling would be part of the dance right?
As the music started up again, a slow song compared to the last one, King let his hazel brown eyes settled back on the dark haired beauty that stood before him. As he slowly got them to start moving again to the dance, he made the steps just as slow and easy as the last song, moving Queen slightly but keeping it more than just a simple sway, adding a small twirl around here and there just to switch things up and make the dance seem more exciting than it probably was. You know, if Queen really wanted to, they could just stay right here and dance the entire evening. King would be okay with that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 851 Muse: Good! Queen was thankful that King was so accommodating. She would only ask for this one more dance and then she would allow him some time off. Rarely, at least when it came to women, Queen could understand not having a desire to dance, especially dance after dance. King was being a trooper in that he wasn’t complaining about her wanting to dance. Then again, this was the school dance, you sort of had to expect to dance at least a little bit. Queen herself wasn’t the most spectacular dancer out there, nor was she a girl that had to dance the entire night. She was sure girls like Rem and Deuce would want to more so then girls like Sice and herself anyway. Hopefully none of the guys made an issue of it. How disappointing to have a date that didn’t want to dance or have fun. She would get disgusted if that were the case with King, and probably just dance with a bunch of other people. But like she had stated earlier, it was nice that he actually had a desire to dance, or at least to make her happy. And happy it did indeed make her.
Once the first song got done, he presented her with the opportunity to dance again. She took it, though she would have been understanding had he not wanted to dance. He agreed though, and the next minute they were back on the dance floor. At first it was slower, but King was good enough at dancing to be able to make it exciting and twirl her, keeping her on her toes. If he didn’t know how to do anything like that and they were simply slow dancing in circles the entire night, it might not be so much fun. Keeping up with him, Queen was careful of where she stepped and how she moved, so as not to fall flat on her face because of the different type of shoes. She could get lost in his arms for the entire night.
After the dance was done however, Queen glanced up in time to see a familiar figure battling off the school flirt, Kayla. With a shake of her head, she thought she should go rescue Hope from that situation. Tapping King on the shoulder, she pointed to the unfortunate soul. “I should go rescue him from Kayla. Mind if I dance with him for a song?” Smiling, she patted his cheek before turning and slipping away, walking toward the silver haired young man. Kayla was something no one should have to endure, especially some poor young man that didn’t know her history or anything about her.
- - - - - - - -
After her few dances with Hope, the fuss had started. Queen had noticed the scuffle between Nine and Quon of course, everyone had, and then poor King had had to get involved to drag Nine off of him. Honestly, Nine could have killed Quon if he wanted to, and King probably could have killed them both had he wanted to. After that she’d lost sight of King for awhile, as he’d just dragged Nine away. She’d asked a few people if they’d seen him, but so far they had just saw the same thing as he had. After a long while walking around looking for him, Queen finally thought she spotted the tall blonde. Shifting her way through the crowd, she sped up her stride until she neared him. When she got close of course she slowed down considerably. Catching his arm, she fell in step with him. “King?” Glancing up at his face, and noticing that he didn’t look the happiest, she sighed. Leave it to Nine and Quon to ruin the night for him. Wondering for a second, Queen cleared her throat. “Do you want to go outside for a few minutes?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 813 Muse:; Good!
