With one leg propped on a stool, Maria swung her other leg around back and forth, she’d drifted out this way for some time now, she wasn’t sure why. A small sigh escaped her lips as she rested her elbow on the table top. A nice little bar-side seat, even if she wasn’t drinking or anything, simply taking in a few sips of water here and there as she took the silence and the time to let herself think. It’d been a few days since the very weird accident had happened with Leon and Firion, Maria still didn’t understand what the heck went on that day. They’d been sent to figure out a possible threat and in the process…gotten stung by some sort of machine things that had an attitude problem with one another. It was taking a lot of brain power away from the violet haired archer, she didn’t have anything to go off of, this whole ordeal was just a huge mystery to her.
When Maria lifted her gaze and shifted it towards the door, she flinched in her seat to sit straight up, her face uncertain as to what was going on. A small cluster of sailors wandering into the bar she was in, no doubt they were here off a ship, and usually when they came in from the high seas they were anything but polite. Rolling her eyes, she turned herself away from the door and felt herself slump over the bar again, folding her arms for her head to rest on as she sighed, hearing the hooting and hollering of the sailors already. She could hear a few comments that sounded harmless, just about getting some drinks and chilling around the bar for a couple of hours before setting sail again, but a few of them were talking about finding some ‘lasses’ to accompany them before drifting off to sea again. Ugh, men were absolutely horrible, pirates were the worst though. It made Maria’s stomach turn.
Turning her head to the side a bit to glance towards the door once more, she was greeted by two men standing next to her, causing her to straighten up again, her expression was blank, but accompanied by somewhat of an annoyed look. “Aye, she is quite the beaut! What’s yer name, princess?” Lovely. With a sigh of frustration, Maria rolled her eyes slightly. “She doesn’t speak apparently. Come’on darlin’, we’re simply askin’ fer a name, nothin’ more.” Shifting herself so that her bow was showing at her side in the seat next to her, she put on a bittersweet smile. “Maria.” She spoke quietly before sliding off her seat, grabbing her bow and adjusting her quiver to make her feel a little better. She was going to ditch this place, maybe walk by the docks and get some fresh air, at least out there she could ignore people in a much easier fashion. “That’s a pretty name, especially fer such a pretty young lady-“ Maria just got a little too frustrated lately. Pulling her bow out and docking an arrow all in a swift moment of a few seconds, she at the tip of the arrow pointed at the man’s face, a stern look on her face. “I’m not a princess, I’m nobody’s darlin’ and stop calling me pretty.” She demanded as the sailor and his buddy put their arms up in defense, their faces a few shades paler than she’d first seen them. “Aye, sorry ma’am.”
Maria pulled her bow back and put her arrow back in her quiver, turning sharply to make a direct dart towards the door, she saw it open and her jaw nearly hit the floor as her grip on her bow tightened. She froze where she was and gazed at the pirate walking in. Of course she should’ve known these scums came from this particular captain. “Good thing I was just leaving.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 756 Muse: Great! Leila look around at the quaint little port town. She was back in one of these sooner than she had expected. The last time she and crew had anchored in port was when she had met a knight looking for redemption, and who had given her something to look forward next time. Unfortunately, she knew that she wouldn’t meet up with him in this town, as this was located across the sea, in the other direction where the knight had headed off. Well, nothing she could do about that. Stretching her arms above her head, and then bringing them down to rest her hands against her hip, Leila looked around quickly making sure that no one was going to try and get onto her ship and sail away with it. There didn’t seem to be anyone hiding around which was good.
Her crew was currently in the nearest pub, drinking the night away and enjoying life. Leila was exactly sure how long she would be staying here. For such a small town, she wondered if the townsfolk would be able to deal with her and her crew for more than a couple of days. It would take at least a day, maybe less if they were lucky, to gain the necessary supplies before they could set off for the waters once more. Hopefully, two nights would be enough to get everything down. Hopefully, her crew wouldn’t think that they could drink until their minds were mush again tomorrow night. As much as she wanted them to enjoy themselves, she couldn’t have her entire crew completely hungover the next day when she needed them to be able to work. She would let the few who earned it, get drunk silly. Everyone else could enjoy the other company on the boat as they usually did out on sea. Yeah, that sounded like a good enough plan to the pirate captain. Smirking, she took one more look around the area, cracked he knuckles, turned on her heels, and entered the little bar herself.
She entered to a slightly rowdy place, quieter than she was used to, and remembered that some of her crew had stayed on the boat. Some men liked drinking to their hearts content. Some men liked to sleep. So long as they got the job done then Leila didn’t care what they did in their free time. At least that way someone was watching her baby. In some sort of way, of course. Suddenly, she was jolted out of her thoughts as two men bumped into her. She started and then turned around to see a couple of men quickly walking back to the ship. They seemed flustered. Leila cocked an eyebrow. what could possibly send her men running like that? Actually there was a multitude of answers to that question. In response, Leila shrugged and turned back around, fulling walking into to the bar. She took a good look around, before she felt someone looking at her. She ran her eyes over the whole pub before she noticed a familiar head of purple hair and very scantily clad girl who looked all too familiar. A smirk easily edged it’s way on Leila’s face as she walked forward, her arms crossed over her chest. “Well, now. I didn’ expec’ to see ye her’, Maria. How ha’e ye been? Keepin’ an eye on Firion?”

If anything could frustrate Maria more…it was exactly what was happening today. She was completely flustered, cranky and not amused by even the slightest thing. There was no reason to be all cheery and bubbly today, not when everything was just annoying her to no end, especially when it was persistent sailors who wanted nothing more than to flirt with her. With a low grumble in her chest, Maria was ready to get out of this lousy place as it was and get a move on. After the sailors who had nearly been shot in the face by Maria scuttled along out of the bar, the violet haired archer started her stride towards the door, but simply froze in her steps, her face twisting a bit as her eyes narrowed on the pirate captain she didn’t like very much, not simply because she’d noticed Leila’s wandering eyes towards Firion a few times, but she was just…nope. She was a dang pirate!
With a narrowed look on her face as her grip had tightened on her bow, Maria watched as she was noticed by the pirate. She instantly felt irritation as the captain had took a few steps towards her, folding her arms and keeping that smirk on her face…what Maria wouldn’t give to smack that smirk right off her face. Putting a bitter smile on her face, she placed her bow back to its resting place on her back by her quiver, making it easier for travel. She folded her arms across her chest as well. “Of course I’m keeping an eye on Firion, I can’t have undesirables flocking around him. Sea loving undesirables.” She said in a quite polite tone as she tilted her head slightly, her eyes glancing at the door that was so close…yet so far away. The only obstacle blocking her way was Leila, and no doubt Maria wouldn’t be able to simply just walk past the captain now. Well, she could, but she was sure Leila was going to say something else, especially after that oh so subtle jab Maria had made.
Shaking her head a bit with a sigh and dropping her arms to her sides, she gave Leila a mock salute, still keeping that bittersweet smile on her face. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I’m pretty sure any place would be better than here. I’m not in the mood for flirty, demanding and rambunctious pirates floating around and bothering every soul within these parts.” She said with a shrug, looking to go past Leila since she didn’t want to exactly crawl across a table to get to the door. “If you’ll kindly step aside.” She said in a slightly…less polite, but still keeping a friendly tone to it, not wanting to cause trouble and simply get the hell out of here as quick as possible and be well on her way to the next town…hopefully a town that was pirate-free. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 596 Muse: Good! It was certainly a surprise to Leila to find Maria in this little inn. It was most definitely coincidence since they had docked once her crew had seen land. They needed supplies and a port would give it to them whether they liked it or not. So, here she was, looking on at her crew and a seemingly pissed off Maria. Leila’s day just couldn’t get any better at this point. She knew Maria had some sort of contempt towards her. She also knew that there were a few good reasons as to why she held such contempt. For one, Leila always looked at Firion in a way that Maria didn’t like. Firion was a nice-looking guy, and Leila had to soak in the sights before she decided she needed to be of use somewhere else. The other reason was the fact that she was a pirate. Period. Leila didn’t care much. People hated her for that reason a lot. It didn’t phase her at all anymore. In fact, it amused her when she walked along and people would scowl in disgust. She would just smirk and continue on. Except with Maria. Maria was just plain fun to tease.
Leila decided to walk up to the bow-user and give a simple greeting, asking about Firion and probably already tipping her off of the edge. Ah, yes. Fun. Lots and lots of fun. She listened and didn’t miss the little thing about seafaring undesirables. Her smirk widened. Maria was always so easy to read. “Undesirable, huh? I wouldn’ know abou’ tha’, dear.” Time to see how well she handled that little retort. Watching the girl, she saw her glancing around her. Ah, trying to leave, eh? And Maria confirmed Leila’s suspicions by speaking about it. She wanted to leave already? But, they had just started talking and catching up. It had been a while since they had seen each other after doing what needed to be done and such. She couldn't leave now!
“Aw, but we just me’ up. Don’t be shy. Don’t ye want to hea’ about me latest adventure across the sea?” Leila already knew the answer to the question. She knew Maria didn’t want to hear about her latest adventure. She knew even before she asked the question. But what was the fun without asking? There wasn’t any, and that was the whole point. She wasn’t about to let the girl go anytime soon, and if any of her crew came forward and tried anything then she could easily order them to back away. It was simple. Now she just had to see if Maria was actually going to stay or if she was going to draw that bow of hers and aim it at Leila. Which, actually, wouldn’t be a very smart idea since a good amount of the crew were in the inn and Leila had her words and daggers attached to her waist. Though that would be interesting. Two old allies fighting in a bar all because one didn’t want to be in the company of the other. Leila couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought. Interesting, indeed.

Maintaining composure. Calmness…serenity…that was what Maria needed to focus on. On the inside she was about ready to explode, her blood was going to boil hotter than the surface of the sun…but on the outside she held her composure, a bitter smile on her face was all that was there. She wasn’t too hostile, but her words dripped with disdain and complete hostility, not the tone per-say, but the words…they should’ve rang loud and clear towards the…stupid pirate hooker. “You wouldn’t know anything about that? Right. I’m sure you wouldn’t. How about the whole…let’s speak English thing? Do you know anything about that? Or have the wide open seas really melted your brain as much as I think they have?” okay, now she was starting to get even more bitter and rude toned. She tilted her head to the side, violet hair falling over her shoulder as she placed her hands on her hips, a more…realistic smile on her face, probably because she was feeling pleased with herself.
Leila was probably the last person Maria wanted to hang out with…okay, so that wasn’t entirely true, but she was sure that Emperor Mateus would have better stories than she! And he wasn’t a stupid pirate hooker! He just had that…weird feminine headdress of fabulousness or something. With her smile falling a bit, it seemed that Leila was a force to be reckoned with. You couldn’t piss her off as easily as certain bow-wielders. “Not really.” She answered both bluntly and honestly as she mumbled the words, looking anywhere but at Leila, a shrug of her shoulders as she looked around the inn, looking at the bar and the few sailors that were still in here. God did this place now reek of…fish. With a shake of her head, she looked towards the door, it swung open and closed, revealing a downpour of rain outside. Either Maria was going to go singing in the rain and end up getting sicker than a sea-dog, or she was forced to stay here and listen to Leila.
Being sick vs talking to Leila, now which one sucked more?
With a heavy sigh escaping her lips, a glance up towards the ceiling of the one leveled inn, Maria could hear the pitter patter of raindrops against the roof. They were heavy drops, and that meant she wouldn’t be able to do much of anything. What if she came across some bandit or a wild wolf along the road? Her arrows wouldn’t take kindly to the rain. Shifting her weight slightly and looking back towards the pirate, Maria folded her arms across her chest. “Doesn’t look like I’m going anywhere. I guess you can spill your guts, talk about whatever you like…I’ve got time to kill as it is.” She said stepping past Leila, back towards the bar where she planted herself, a blank expression on her face as she mentally prepared herself to listen to whatever it was Leila had to say…mentally preparing herself to hold back her easily angered emotions, and to hold back that possibility that she might just punch the pirate. As fun as that sounded right now…it probably wasn’t the greatest of ideas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 642 Muse: Good! Goodness, it was so easy to get on this archer’s nerves. Leila stood with confidence as she talked with Maria, her arms crossed over her chest, and knowing that Maria wanted nothing more than to just get away from her. Even when she had been traveling along with Firion’s group, her and Maria had never gotten along. While the both of them may not have had the best clothing selections, Leila could easily see that Maria had morals, a category of life that Leila sort of failed at. A pirate’s life was an easygoing one and if a ship just happened to stroll by on the seas then Leila saw it as her sworn duty to take it over and grab anything and everything that she thought had some sort of value to it. She could still remember the day when she had suckered Firion into hitching a ride on her ship and how they had beaten her best sailors within minutes. It was quite sad to watch but it had brought them altogether and fate had a way of playing things. Like now!
She ignored the snippety remarks that came out of the archer’s mouth, she was pretty much used to those kind of comments that they didn’t even faze her, and just smirked. “Aw, it looks like I struck a sensitive chor’,” was her simple reply just egging the girl on more and more. This was quite enjoyable, watching Maria just get angrier and angrier to the point where she was most likely contemplating just walking out of there. Too bad for her. As Leila had been walking in, storm clouds had been rolling in over the town, and based on what she could hear hitting the roof, it was raining pretty hard outside. To gather even more evidence for her hypothesis, someone decided to run in at the moment and, turning around, Leila could easily see the water pouring down fro the skies soaking everything in it’s path. Leila turned back around and was bale to see the devastated look on Maria’s face. Victory once more for the pirate captain. “Well, looks like ye won’t be leavin’ so soon now. Don’t blame nature on me now.”
Maria moved over to the bar, and Leila followed easily, sitting down next to the dejected archer and motioning to the innkeeper for two pints of ale. He set right to work on it as soon as Maria started speaking up again, now wishing to actually hear about Leila’s wonderful stories off on the seas. Her smirk grew wider, and she racked her brains for any events that happened in the recent past. Her last visit to a village such as this entered her mind, and she deemed that worthy enough to annoy the little archer for a while. “Well, I did meet a fine young man the last time I anchored me ship. He seemed to be dressed as a knight and had black hair. He was quite an interestin’ fellow. Said his name was Leon.”
