God she needed a drink.
Layne thought that as soon as she walked by the bar. The feeling was so powerful, in fact, that she turned back around and entered the bar. She wasn't opposed to a drink now and again just in general life, though she normally stuck to her fruity drinks and didn't hold to excessive drinking, and now...well, she needed a drink. Heaven only knew when she would get over the traumatic experience she had gone through days before. There was only so much in life that she could handle, and psychopath killer chocobo drivers crossed the line. Actually, they might even pass up Mimes, and that was saying something. Pushing open the door, Layne scanned the building before she walked over to the corner, seating herself on a bar chair and ordering her drink.
With her hands laying palm down on the table, once again Layne thanked that Cole had been there as well. She was humble enough to admit that she might not have lived through the experience had he not been there. She could deal with unsavory characters yes, but some muscle head, psychopath chocobo cab driver killer was a lot more than she could handle by herself. Actually, it was probably more than they could both handle put together, but they had managed to get away with all their limbs in tact.
And that was a blessing in of itself.
When the bartender handed her the drink she had ordered, Layne thanked him and brought it up by her lips to take a drink. The burn down her throat was unpleasant for the first few seconds, as it always was, but after that time it started to feel a lot better. She really had needed this. Setting her drink back down, Layne leaned on her elbows and studied the layout of the alcohol and shot glasses that lined the cabinet and tried to forget the experience she'd had a few days before. It might be awhile before she fully did forget it. Might be a looong while. But oh well, there wasn't much she could do about that, right? Aside from therapy, lots and lots of therapy. She fully intended to get some too. Otherwise she was going to have nightmares of men that were as thick across as they were tall. Right. The men in her dreams weren't even any sort of eye candy, what was the deal with that anyway?

Many days... many weeks... no... months has passed since the head of the Pikes disappeared and no sign of him have been found. Leila lead a life inside Rabanastre for such an amount of tine expecting that her father one day will see them. But after learning that General Pike possibly could not handle the fact that his country was turned to ashes, she decided to move on and find his whereabouts without thinking about it twice.
The whole process of reconstruction was taking place in Leila's hometown. Everything seemed like turning to normal, but in the end... it will never be the same. The general's daughter walked across the newly made streets gazing upon what seemed to be the new city, it looked gorgeous, but it was a pity that most of her memories were taken away with the fall or Rozarria. The first place to seek any kind of information about the General himself, was at a bar, where the wisest people always seems to be.
Leila entered the place, most men stared at her like zombies gazing at a muscular and strong brain. The feeling of desire of those men's eyes was disgusting, she even felt dirty by their gaze. The woman walked across the wooden tables placed at the bar and joined a blonde woman who was enjoying a drink served down by the handsome bartender. She looked familiar, but there is many people in this world to even care about a person that just look like someone else. The bartender stood near Leile expecting her to ask for a drink, letting her ask for her favorite wine made of cavernie sevignon grapes mixed with a tiny bit of merlot. Once served, she took a taste and let the fermented flavors of the grapes mix in her mouth.
"Layne? Is it you in here? Leila said recognizing the blondie sitting next to her on the bar. Layne has been Coulson's childhood friend since Leila had any memories. This woman always was by his side and they have been hunting together for quite a good amount of time. Leila even thought that they were in love after all... but even though she teased them to see if they matched... she was unable to push them together. Leila expected a reaction from Layne as she took periodical sips of the flavorful wine.

Wow this drink tasted good.
Nursing her drink, Layne held it in both hands and stared somewhat blankly at the bar in front of her. It had been a hell of a week, and now she was just happy to be able to kick back somewhat and not think about money or working or...oh yeah, crazy psycho killers that attacked you. Sometimes living for adventure really wasn't worth it. As much as she loved her life, her 'job', and the comfortable living she could provide her mother, sometimes she just wished that she had a nine to five job where she could punch in and punch out without wory that someone was sending you to your death. Tomorrow she'd be over this and ready to get back out there to find her some treasure, but today...she just wanted a beer and then to crawl into her own bed and snuggle her own blankets safely for eight hours. Maybe she should just take the entire week off. Or maybe the month. No....make that a good solid year! She had plenty in her savings to last herself way over a year anyway.
But she had to be honest when she admitted it was more about the excitement than the money, especially lately, when Cole and Chloe had taken two thirds of her riches when they had ended up at the Margrace mansion, each claiming that they had been the one to recover the family jewels. It had bhumbled her a bit to have those two pirates come and take what rightfully belonged to her. Since then she had been a bit more free about her money. What else was she supposed to do? It wasn't like she could stay mad at them anyway, having grown up with those two and shared blood, sweat and tears with them.
Her thoughts were interrupted by her voice being spoken. Though she had noticed that a woman had settled herself in the chair beside her, until the voice spoke her name, she didn't really care to look up. Her eyes settled on the sister of the man she had been thinking of. Layne hadn't hung around Leila all that much growing up, having associated more with Cole, but she recognized the other girl instantly. They did share some similarities of course, though…well to be quite honest, though they did share similarities, she was nowhere near as good looking at her older brother. Layne had been pretty young when she had moved away and then the destruction of Nabius had sealed the deal about not seeing her all that much. "Leila? Is that you?" She might only be a few years older than Leila, but she had been hardly anything more than a young girl the last time she had seen her. A quick scan showed that she was hardly the youngster Layne remembered. "It's been quite a while," she commented, scooting in her seat so that she could see the younger girl. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 635 Muse:; Good! Location:; Bar Outfit:;That one I linked! She could not be more glad about meeting such an close friend after so many years. Even though the environment in this tavern was lousy and obnoxious, Leila felt that her surroundings were minimal to this moment she started to enjoy remembering old peaceful times with those she loved. The last time Leila saw Layne, it was even before her body even formed... a time where she was an innocent girl that ignored the disastrous future that awaited. Now Leila was able to even drink with her, this was a memorable moment for her inside the disaster she just lived.
Curious aboute Coulson and knowning Layne was even closer to him than herself. Leila drew a smile on her face before imagining all the adventures they went together. It would be great if the three of them now can band together into discovering new things across the world of Ivalice. "Hey Layne, do you know what is Cole up to? I haven't heard of that inconsiderate brother of mine in quite a long time. Next one is on me bartender! She said while placing gil on top of the counter and staring at her friend.
Before she continued, two men surrounded men moving awkwardly maybe meaning to seduce them. Leila stared at Laybe with a raised eyebrow expecting a reaction while one of the men, grabbed the money from the counter and returned it to Leila. The man snapped his fingers to the bartender maybe gesturing that they will pay instead. Leila didn't mind at all, she put the money back in her pocket without hesitation and slip the last of her drink.
"Aren't we lucky here?" Mumbled Leila in a sexy tone of voice while crossing her legs and smiling all around with a new drink on her hands. She giggled to the men's comments whilst knowing none of the will get anything from her, Leila then turned her eyes back to Layne and expected her reaction.

Layne found herself almost forgetting the traumatic events that had happened only a small time earlier. Focusing on Leila, she shrugged at the mention of Cole, before she grinned at the word ‘inconsiderate’ that was used to describe him. Her own brother had been ‘inconsiderate’ too, in that he had disappeared and Layne hadn’t heard from him since she had left to go on her grand adventure. God, she missed him…he and her father. Every day. She knew that Leila could understand about that, what with her mother being gone and her father…well, not exactly being around, or that was at least what Layne had heard whispers of. She didn’t ever prod Cole about it though, thinking it was one of those things he would rather keep stashed away and locked up in the back of his thoughts, much like her and her own circumstances.
“Oh you know, still full of himself.”, she said with a smile. “But he saved my rear a few days ago, so I can’t really complain about that, now can I.”, Layne mused aloud, propping an elbow up on the counter and leaning against it, her eyes weary. “Go sent on some false lead…right to some psycho killer. Thank God mom called Cole and had him come check up on me, or I’d probably be rotting out there somewhere.” Though it was a serious situation, Layne managed to smile about it.
“But, you know, that’s how things go when you hunt for treasure. You get into some bad situations.” Wasn’t that the truth. Layne had been in plenty of what she would classify as ‘bad’ situations in her lifetime, though that one took the cake. She couldn’t really imagine what might have happened had Cole not been there, though-…well yeah, she hadn’t been all that impressed when Cole had jumped behind her when he had first laid eyes on Beecher. Not impressed at all, but she couldn’t really blame him. Even now the guy gave her the creeps.
Before she could say anything else on the subject, Layne watched as two men came toward them. Almost instantly her hackles rose. With her drink halfway to her lips, eyes watched as they moved, one on either side, and returned Leila’s money to her, saying that they would pay. Layne finished lifting the drink to her lips while her right hand rested on the gun that was on her belt on her hips. She’d just about had enough of men for the next hundred thousand years, and these didn’t look anything like men that she would have. Leila didn’t seem…too concerned about it though. Glancing over toward the man that had settled himself beside her, Layne shifted until she was closer to her female companion, weary of whoever the hell this man thought he was. “What can I get you?” Layne pursed her lips slightly at him, before sighing. She wasn’t so sure she liked this, but…well, she could handle herself. She had just escaped a psychotic killer, she was fairly sure she could handle this dumb brute. Repeating the drink she’d just drained, Layne shifted again toward Leila a bit, ready to shoot the guy to kingdom come if he tried anything on her. "Yeah...Lucky.", she muttered out sarcastically. She could handle men, that wasn’t a problem, but what about Leila? She was a lot younger than Layne. Flickering her eyes over toward her good friends sister, she quirked an eyebrow, as if asking how Leila felt about it.
Any funny business, and he would be walking out of here with his rear end full of lead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 779 Muse:; Good! Location:; Bar Outfit:; That one I linked! These men for sure were quite over confident. They weren't attractive to begin with neither original enough to amaze Leila. By her reaction, Layne even looked bored of this men futile attempts to flirt... they even looked awkward and lame. Layne gestured Leila about the situation, and Leila exactly knew what her friend meant... of course women tend to communicate themselves using everything but words and this was the case, even more because they know each other from quite a while. Leila smiled to the men and took a zip of her newly served drink before standing moving her body like the waves of the ocean. These men needed a towel more than a woman... they were like babies letting all their saliva go loose on themselves. This was so fail that one of them handed Leila a napkin with an address.
"Well dear, I actually need something special that you can give us. We need a little bit of oxygen and some space... do you think you can handle that?" She said in a sarcastic tone as the man's obnoxious smile was erased from that silly dirty face he had. "Well where are my manners... thanks for the drink, it will be unforgivable. Oh wait sorry..." Leila continued with her drama by grabbing the napkin from before. She then sneezed on it and cleaned her nose afterwards. "Excuse me, the napkin was such a detail. I appreciate the thought" She finished as both left not only disappointed but almost angered by the girl's bitchy attitude.
With a raised eyebrow, Leila turned to her friend while the bartender almost died in laugh on the other side of the counter. "So, when is the next adventure? This time I will like to join it. " Leila asked Layne who seemed to be a bit in shock with whatever just happened. Well... Leila is not that kind of woman, she could not care less about men for now and for looks of it, Layne either. She then had a good time drinking that one served at the cost of the silly ones.

Though Layne felt slightly uncomfortable with the men draping themselves all over the two girls, being obnoxious and looking for something they weren’t going to get…at least not from her, she thought that she had done an excellent job at completely hiding that and acting as if she didn’t have a care in the wor-…okay, so she might have seemed a tad uncomfortable, but whatever, she couldn’t help that she actually had a brain and wanted something other than some slobbery men that became infatuated with almost any woman that came their way. Perhaps she should have appreciated the attention, or felt flattered by it, but instead, she simply wanted to edge away and go back to her drink.
When she went to get her drink, the man beside her, who must have been drinking slightly to be so bold, tried to grab at her hands. Expertly she avoided it, tipping the drink on him as if on accident. “Oooh…look at that, clumsy me. I’m sorry.”, she said sweetly, or attempted sweetness, before she righted the drink and glanced over to see how Leila was doing with her leech. She seemed to be able to handle herself…
Actually, Layne had to stop and watch her for a moment, eyebrows furrowed. She still remembered Leila as nothing but a little girl, and so this…well, this was something she hadn’t been prepared to see from the younger girl, that was for sure. Raising her eyebrow a bit, Layne pulled her drink toward her lips to take a sip while Leila did her sarcastic routine, trying to figure out if it was just an act or if it was reality. Man…things sure had changed from when they were young, that was for sure. It was hard sometimes, to think of them all as adults that led their own separate lives, but they sure were that. Besides, she couldn’t complain when Leila seemed to get rid of the men for them, even if she was slightly in amazement at just how she did it. Instead, she raised her drink to her lips again and looked at the brunette that was sitting beside her, reevaluating her once more while the bartender seemed to be choking on his own laughter, even going so far as to offer them another round of free drinks for the amusement.
Well…wasn’t tonight just the night for free drinks.
“Thanks.”, she commented to the bartender while she took the liquid offered to her. “Don’t thank me Missy, that’s better entertainment then I’ve seen since old Four Fingered Pete went and kicked the bucket during the drinking match a week ago.” What…? Giving him a look she was sure mirrored her amazement, she studied him, wondering if she should or shouldn’t ask about who the heck Four Fingered Pete was. Deciding against it, Layne shifted in her seat once more, before Leila asked her about adventures. “That’s a good question.”, she said thoughtfully, flashing a look over at Leila. “I uh…kinda thought I’d take a break from the business for a few weeks.”, she said lightly. “Crazy psychopaths tend to do that to you.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 683 Muse:; Good!
