Cold days in hell were better than the cold that had sunk in at Palupolum. The home of the Merchants had sent the merchants to their homes for the day. The Wings of Iskander however were at the local inn happy and relaxed. All except for one. Nemo sat at the bar. All he could picture were those eyes. The eyes of a female warrior. Alexander, the man closest to Nemo could feel his anxiousness, and his hatred. The fires from Nemo were evident.
Nemo stood and headed to the door, Alexander reached to him but Nemo shrugged him off. He was dressed prepared for the cold. Needing sometime away from the noise he began to walk down the streets of Palupolum. The Wings of Iskander were viewed as criminals for stopping Psicom and the Guardian Corps on several occasions, but none of that mattered. The 19 year-old looked out to rising crescent moon. "We'll meet again miss, that I'm sure of." Nemo stated switching his view to in front of him once more.

Only a few more weeks until her twenty first birthday.
Lightning sighed quietly to herself, arms folded across her chest as she stood within the streets of one very chilly Palumpolum. Why was she being sent on errands when she could be busy in Bodhum doing her real job? Not that guard duty was her favorite thing to do, but it had to beat being a messenger girl. Oh well, fulfilling the tasks of Lieutenant Amodar was in her best interest, especially if she wanted to make the rank of Sergeant anytime soon. Sergeant Farron, it had a nice ring to it, didn’t it? Still, being away from home for a few days was unnerving, especially with Serah spending all of her time with that reckless NORA leader, Snow Villiers. She knew well that her sister could take care of herself, even when it came to men, but really? He was all talk, chummy from the get-go and really did try to make everyone his friend. Lightning had seen right through him upon their first meeting, and it wasn’t a happy one. Just a cocky heroic type, or at least that’s what the NORA group thought of themselves…heroes. “Burdens is more like it.” The young pinkette mumbled under her breath.
It was nighttime already, Lightning had just gotten into town, not looking forward to the few days she’d spend here, but hey, a job was a job. Anything she could do to earn money and keep food on the table for herself and Serah was good enough. Ever since her parents had died, she’d taken over the role of both a mother and father for her sister, working all the time and doing her best to encourage Serah to go to school, that college in Eden was nice, she knew Serah would get accepted and become a mighty fine teacher, but getting her there…that was half of the trouble. That was another reason no complaints came from the soldier, she needed to keep Serah safe, and maybe if she did get accepted to that university in Eden…she’d forget all about NORA’s fearless leader and first class idiot, Snow Villiers.
Walking along the colder streets of the military city, Lightning pushed her hands into her pockets and felt a shiver run down her spine. It was too dang cold out here. Bodhum was always so nice and warm, near the beach it was never colder than say…fifty degrees. Enough for her to wear her usual uniform, but today…long sleeves and a scarf would suffice for now. At least she still had her blazefire saber strapped behind her legs as usual, should something out of the ordinary happen during her trip. With her arms still tightly folded, she continued onwards, trailing along the sidewalk towards the tiny inn she would be staying at, tomorrow she could take care of Amodar’s errands and return to Bodhum as quickly as possible, without any troubles of course. With a grim look on her face though, her eyes laid on the back of someone just ahead. Taking a quick glance around, she noticed no other people out, and she wasn’t exactly familiar with Palumpolum, only having been here once or twice when she was smaller, she trotted quicker, not wanting to waste more time out here in the cold, she wanted to find this nice warm inn before she caught a cold or anything.
Reaching her gloved hand out and tapping the man on the shoulder – he seemed to be roughly around her age, from what she could tell from the back – and as she did, she cleared her throat and retracted her hand back into her pocket. “Sorry to be a bother, do you happen to know where the nearest inn is?” she asked, not moving to see said man’s face, just hoping for a response, feeling slightly eerie though…what was so bad about this place? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 752 Muse: Good! Nemo eyes remained on the sky. His pose statuesque with his arms crossed against his chest. His thoughts on NORA and what they were doing. He had only heard of them and never met any of the members, but the stories he heard were something. Taking on Psicom and Guardian Corps like it was no big deal, then again The Wings of Iskander dared to do the same. Those violet eyes of his could only manged to stare off in the distance for so long. His ears awake from his thoughts at the sounds of footsteps approaching him from his rear. The simple touch of a tap on shoulder was the next thing he felt. He stood there hearing a woman's voice speak up. “Sorry to be a bother, do you happen to know where the nearest inn is?”He scoffed at the females voice quietly. Being awoken from his thoughts wasn't a crime, but it wasn't something he enjoyed. He didn't turn to her, he didn't even budge from where he stood and it was starting to show. It was like the ground was indented where his feet was. Though he wasn't cold, nor was he going to be anytime soon. The young man's eyes just seemed to stare into the distance. He let the words and question process once more. The voice seemed familiar but for now he couldn't recall where he had been so delighted to hear such a voice. “Around the corner to left, and be careful in there. Some of my friends are their and when we have a good day then tend to be happy.” Nemo's voice showed a hint of concern. “Also if I were you wandering around in the evening is something I wouldn't be doing. Their have been some reports about muggers and attackers in the area.” He continued and finished with a solid tone. Not sounding like a superhero, more like the vigilante he was. He never once looked back though. He didn't want to. Not when the sky was something to enjoy. -------------------------------------------------- Words: 346 Muse: Excited! With a deep breath, Lightning braced herself against the coldness that Palumpolum had at this time of year, it was times like this she wished she was home in Bodhum with the warmth that the seaside city had to offer. With arms folded tightly, she had acknowledged a young man along the path, asking for directions and leaving it at that. She found it somewhat rude that he didn’t even really acknowledge her existence, but at least he answered the question. That was all that really mattered, right? So long as she got directions to the nearest inn where she was supposed to be saying, then there was no issue. Nodding her head slightly after the words of caution as well, she mumbled out a “Thanks” before taking her leave, taking the directions he had told her to take and seeing a small sign that labeled this place as an inn. It was pretty old fashioned, liquor and rooms, more like a tavern than anything, but whatever.
Upon entering the inn, a stench of alcohol instantly bugged the pinkette, putting a scowl on her face, but what really got her attention was the semi-familiar faces that brought up pretty angsty memories. These people that caused trouble everywhere they went, getting in the way somewhat like NORA did to the Bodhum security regiment, but these people…they were worse. Instantly Lightning felt a few sets of eyes burning stares right through her skin. Her very bored and almost irritated look seemed to ruffle the wrong feathers. As she strode across the room, feeling the need to reach back for her gunblade, she just kept a calm and cool composure before she noticed one man stand up, a grim look on his face as he pointed at her, making some loud GUARDIAN CORPS accusation, not saying he was wrong or anything, Light did take a step back and know that she was definitely in the wrong place right now. Pointing out that she was one of the enemies, supposedly, a few more members of this troublesome group stood up, drunk as hell and ready to brawl.
So be it.
Figuring it wasn’t fair to use weapons against a few drunk fist throwers, Lightning pulled her gunblade out slowly, still in its folded gun form before gently placing it on a nearby table before balling up her fists and shifting her stance to a more aggressive one. With one man charging towards her, Light ducked down and threw her arms up with all the strength she had, flipping the drunkard over her and onto a table, hearing the wood crack and crumble from the weight, she stood up tall, a passive look on her face as she waited to see who would be so bold enough to take on this determined soldier next. “This is ridiculous.” She commented with a scoff before the next few took their try at taking down Lightning Farron.
But of course, the falcon punches always prevailed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 577 Muse: Good! Tagged: Nemo Wearing: Already linked Listening To: People talking Notes: Hope this was okay!

~~~A few years later. During Episode 0.~~~
Nemo stood and looked around Palupolum. It had been a few years since that night, their second encounter. One off the battlefield and yet he knew in his heart it wasn't over. She had taken a lot from him in his eyes. Everytime Lightning's face came to his mind his blood boiled, his heart's beating began to speed up. Yes that was just simple the way things were and how they going to remain till she accepted the wrongs she committed. The crimes Nemo had seen humanity cause were ugly. He looked to the sky as it began to rain. “My apologies.” He whispered to himself looking up as a rain droplet went down his cheek.
~~~A few years ago.~~~
Walking into the inn he was a bit shocked. Most of his comrades were on the ground, some of them were in fear. Alexander however was gone. He knew better though, to leave when something like this was happening. Nemo however wasn't leaving anytime soon. The back of that woman's head had a new set of eyes burning into it. Only this gaze was a blaze that anyone in the room could feel. Some of the guys began to speak to him jumbled and more than one at a time. “Quiet!” Nemo ordered with a fiery thundering voice. “You're her, aren't you? One the Guardian Corps best. Lightning Farron.” His words would reach her as the room had fallen to silence. The tension he as giving was visible on its own.
Months ago she had stopped them on an operation. They fought, she had won, but he made it out alive. This would be different though, he was more prepared. Last time she caught him off guard and he did underestimate her a bit. Well that was last time, and right now he was fully prepared to give it his all. “These gentleman probably didn't show you proper hospitality. That I will apologize for. However, since you took some of them out I'm going to have to challenge you. If I don't I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. I know they probably threw the first few punches.” Nemo spoke and paused looking to his friends. “Guys, if a GC member ever graces our presence off the battlefield you shouldn't attack unless they do. Right now she could arrest you all. She could no matter what, but if you'd just played it cool she probably wouldn't have remembered you.” He stated then looked back to Lightning.
“I'm sure you'd like to take me in for 'crimes' I've committed.” Nemo spoke putting a nice accentuation on crimes. “So how about a wager? You win, you can take me in but not them. We have to call it a draw or you lose, you stay the night here and pardon us, and I assure you they'll receive full punishment.” Nemo spoke staring at them with fearful eyes. “I'm trying to be fair, only because its cold outside, and I know it will be raining soon. The next in isn't for a few miles, and its right by Eden.” He stated his terms and conditions. “While you may find me heartless, I like to help those I can even my enemy. I don't want you dying due to sickness. I still have a lot to pay you back for.” He grinned.

As a member of the Guardian Corps, Lightning needed to be quick and able to fight, even without a weapon. With her gunblade resting on a nearby table, she quickly ended this little throw down within the Inn, drunkards were probably the easiest to take care of, especially when they wanted to either attack you or get a bit too clingy. The pinkette was in no mood to deal with people and their stupidity, if they wanted to get put in prison then so be it, and she could do it to. Consider it amazing that she hadn’t done anything thus far, aside from defend herself from those approaching her aggressively. With a scowl on her face, she stood over the last fallen man, her arms folded across her chest as her expression was far less than happy. Such children these people were, it was no wonder neither PSICOM nor the Guardian Corps liked these meddling people coming into their territories.
Hearing a cluster of voices and a shout, Lightning raised her gaze from those on the floor, though she did not turn. Her eyes narrowed and rolled as the next statement came her way, obviously her reputation carried all the way from Bodhum to Palumpolum. How lovely. Turning around swiftly, placing one hand on her hip and the other resting at her side, she frowned heavily, light aqua eyes burning into the man who was sober and standing up to her supposedly, but she knew she’d seen him a few moments prior, he was the one she had asked for directions to this godforsaken place. She recognized the voice easily and in her response, she kept her tone calm and collected, she was still a professional here. “Yeah, what’s it to you?” she said as she carefully and casually went to collect her gunblade, placing it back in the holster that hung behind her legs where she usually kept it, not seeming the least bit worried as she walked around this room, not a care in the world, she could whoop anyone’s ass should she need to, all that hard work and training didn’t happen just for nothing.
Smirking at him and his words, he seemed noble, honorable towards his stupid little group of people, but that didn’t faze Lightning in the slightest. She simply had a bored look on her face, shifting her weight around impatiently as she started tapping the toe of her boot against the ground. “You’re challenging me for defending myself? Tch…” another roll of the eyes. But hey, a challenge was a challenge, whether the reasons for it were wrong or not, she wasn’t going to back down from any challenge. This was just going to be another speed bump she needed to cross over, it would definitely help in the future to show these people not to mess with her nor the Guardian Corps. Dang, this would really look good in the eyes of the Lieutenant, Light would be gaining a rank as Sergeant here soon enough!
A wager, and a somewhat friendly one at that. Shrugging her shoulders and throwing this man a bone, Lightning dropped both of her hands to her sides. “Fine, it’s a deal, even though I’m not one for wagers, I suppose it’s fair enough. But don’t think we’re going to be rude guests and take things out in here. Cold or not, the battles are fought outside.” Lightning almost heard a sigh of relief from one of the workers here, it was just out of common courtesy that nothing in here was completely destroyed just because of a silly little bet of who was better at fighting, or whatever you wanted to call this. “Outside, now.” She said as she strode across the room, her soldier stride of course kicking in as she adjusted the scarf around her neck to be a bit tighter, warmer so she wouldn’t freeze to death. If they could get this done and over with before the rain came, Lightning could get a decent amount of shut eye before tomorrow’s errands. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 772 Muse: Excellent! Nemo scoffed at her question. “What's it to me?” He asked her with glaring eyes. Though his eyes would eventually calm some for the moment. “Well you're a busy girl, I don't expect you to remember me let alone what happened that evening a few months ago.” He further commented as he spread his arms and legs. The sounds of four chests would hit the table. One after another opening. Training, hard work, while unspoken was something common. They're styles of fighting while a derived from close quarters were surely both very different. His eyes remained on her as she question the challenge.
“You may have defended yourself, and they may have attacked first. I see the problem as an honor thing from a previous run-in.” He stated not flinching. His eyes never left her's it was not wise to take your eyes off of an opponent as skilled as Lightning. The only thing he respected about her. One by one Nemo's comrades came up one by one arming his legs with greaves, and his arms and fists with gauntlets. Each piece looked like it weighed a ton, yet Nemo moved his arms and legs like they were nothing.
Lightning made her stipulation to the fight having to take place outside and Nemo slowly followed. He looked to the skies and then to her. “Cold?” He asked her curiously. “Come now, it can't be that bad. You'll warmup soon enough Lightning.” He stated as he stood there unfazed by the cold. The rain however that weaken his capability in the fight with Lightning, though both of them want this over before the storm. Nemo didn't take a stance. He merely waited, standing proudly before the warrior woman of the Guardian Corps.
“Ladies first.” He invited her.

This was beyond ridiculous in all sorts of ways. With a bored look on the pinkette’s face, she gazed back at her confronter, a hand firmly on her hip as she raised an eyebrow. They’d met before, she knew the face, but she couldn’t exactly place an experience with it, nor a name to the face. Shaking her head and rolling her eyes a bit as she did so, though no too dramatically, the older Farron sister dropped her arm from her hip and tried not to look so rude or cocky, she was neither right now, simply stating the facts, she had defended herself. “I don’t keep track with names and faces.” She briefly spoke in a low tone as her aqua eyes never left those of Nemo. Whatever, he wanted a fight? Then so be it, whether it was right or not didn’t bother Lightning, she wasn’t one to back away from a fight as it was.
Striding towards the door, she frowned heavily. This wasn’t on her agenda, and she of course was tired after the trip all the way from Bodhum, but whatever, once again. “So what, this is to repair your hurting pride?” she scoffed a bit, keeping her tone low and more to herself than actually speaking to anyone, the last thing she really needed to do was fuel the flames, but Lightning was not the happiest person right now, having to go outside and deal when she could already be in her room sleeping so she could run errands for Amodar tomorrow. Pushing the door open and instantly feeling the chilled air against the skin of her legs, her muscles tightened, arms folded across her chest as she gently tugged at her scarf, putting it closer towards her neck as she then turned around and stood up tall and straight like always, she was a soldier after all, she would give no less than perfection when it came to her duties and ways.
“Tch, are you dragging me out here to chat or to fight? Pick one or the other, I’m not exactly here on a social call.” Lightning spoke in a bit of an irritated tone, her head tilting to the side for a moment before he invited her with a ‘ladies first’. How kind. Rolling her eyes once more, letting the tiniest of smirks cross her lips, she reached back for her gunblade, letting it unfold as she pulled it up and then quickly drew it back, the tip of the blade facing the ground as she got into her usual battle stance. Her left heal rose slightly off the ground, her left arm and hand being in a defensive way around her chest as she tilted her head downwards slightly, her eyes sizing up her opponent. This wasn’t going to be much of a fight, she would gladly smack anyone down just so she could get her tasks complete in a timely manner. This was no exception. So, ladies first then? Leaping forward, Lightning charged with a great speed, her gunblade behind her before she skidded down to the ground, swiping her extended leg at the feet of Nemo, trying to blitz him and knock him off his feet, should that be successful, there wouldn’t be any chance that he could win this oh so simple battle that Lightning had planned out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 649 Muse: Rushed >< Tagged: Nemo Wearing: Already linked Listening To: Stuff!
