Chloe waited. Her arms were folded across her chest and a deep sigh escaping her lips as she was becoming one very impatient treasure hunter. She’d been here early to get details on the task she was to be performing, but since the briefing was all taken care of…all she had to do was wait for some…’needed help’ as they had put it to her. For someone who worked on their own for so long now, sending someone along with her wasn’t exactly an idea she’d take kindly to, but then again…this world was far different than Ivalice, someone who knew the location would be a little more…required. Chloe had to admit, the help would be easier, instead of trying to follow a map, it would be like grasping at straws, to try and find this thing. An ‘idol’ was what they called it, what it actually was…sure beat the hell out of Chloe. Oh well, she was simply in it for the gil while she was stuck here on this…Gaia, or whatever it was called.
There would be no gil if this so called helper wasn’t going to show. It was no secret that she was getting impatient. Shaking her head and placing her hands on her hips then, the dark haired foreigner whipped around and began to pace, wandering back and forth with her patience growing even thinner, if that was even possible. This had better be worth it, Chloe wasn’t the type to wait around for someone…but she wasn’t about to start wandering around into the unknown without a clue as to where she was going. Apparently they’d be traveling through this place called…Wutai…or at least the outskirts, not bothering the villagers or anything, that’s what she’d been informed at the very least, and somewhere out there would be an old ruin to check out and go looking for this…idol. Whatever it was, wherever it was…Chloe would find her. She wasn’t labeled as a remarkable treasure hunter on Ivalice for nothing! She had a reputation to uphold…even if these people here had never heard of her or her world…whatever, she’d make a name for herself here just as she had back home.
Stopping her pacing, Chloe sighed heavily once more, looking up to the sky as she waited within a small building, from there the two would be transported to the surrounding Wutai lands and get to exploring, if this helper person or whoever the hell it was showed their face. Truthfully speaking, Chloe was more impatient than the other person was late. It’d probably been only a few minutes after their scheduled departure time, but whatever, she’d been here long enough and this was a girl who longed for adventure. Standing around wasn’t…adventure. During this time to think, she wondered if Cole or Layne got to experience a portal before…to hunt treasure in another world and make a name for themselves. They were good at what they did…but she wasn’t sure what they’d do in terms of spotting a portal, Chloe had just gotten…unlucky and fell right through one without her consent. Maybe it’d be worth it? Until another portal appeared to take her back to Ivalice, she was stuck here on Gaia, and while she was stuck here…might as well make some money along the way, a girl had to live didn’t she?
“Any day now.” She mumbled lightly to herself, tapping her foot against the ground and eyeing the door out of here. She’d give the guy, or girl, five more minutes…otherwise she was just going solo like she usually did. Hey, if it ain’t broken…don’t fix it, routines applied to this statement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 743 Muse: Good! It was quite ironic really; Brook hated travelling but ended up choosing a job full of it. Just gotta get used to it....I guess he thought to himself. Shrugging the thought off he carried on towards his destination. His latest 'mission' was protection detail but that was all he knew about it. They didn't specify what it actually was that he was meant to protect just where they wanted him to be, what time and whatever it was he had to protect it as if his life depended on it; or he wasn't getting paid. He scratched his head at the predicament he'd found himself in.
He didn't have a clue what he heading towards but he sure as hell was going to take his time getting there. No amount of money was going to make him rush. God knows what awaited him be it; a giant he had to fell, a brat that he had to babysit or an army of cannibalistic monster, all he knew was that he honestly didn't care. Brook planned on getting there and killing whatever, having a drink then f~ing off back home to wait for the next job. There was a slight hiccup however, it was getting late and it wasn't wise to travel at night even for someone of Brook's stature. Locating an inn he rented a room and prepared for the night. For some unknown reason (well to him anyway) he'd been followed for quite some time by some kind of 'Ninjas', causing him nothing but grief. Throwing down his shit onto the bed he spun his sword around in the palms of his hand, the blade refracted the light of the setting sun across the room. "Mark my words, if you come for me tonight you won't be leaving this place alive" he promised to himself. Sinking his blade into the floor he slumped onto the floor and drifted off to sleep....
Beep~ Beep~ The alien sounds echoed into the darkness and shock the blondie awake. Grudgingly he searched for the sounds origin; his cellphone. Beep~ Slowly getting frustrated as the sound increased in volume with each passing moment he stretched out his clawed hand and clawed at the surface of the bedside table. "I....swear to god!" The faint glow of his arm was beginning to pulse in relation to his anger, further lighting up the room and adding to his mood. Finally finding the shape of his phone amongst the clutter he flipped it open and bought it up to his ear without looking at the caller ID, "You've got some serious nerve. Do you have ANY idea what time it is?!" He practically shouted down the phone. It was his contractor. "Regardless. You work for me now. You're on call when I want you." Tightening his grip he opened his mouth to bark a reply but he was interrupted before he could speak. "The job's in Wutai. You'll receive the co-ordinates shortly. You're already late. Do NOT disappoint us. We're watching you" and with that he hung on Brook. His normal hand curled up into a fist as he flew out of the bed and began pacing back and forth. Consumed by angry thoughts he fuelled his own anger. You're already late? Don't disappoint us? Who the hell do they think they are, really? They can take the job and shove it.
After a short while he cooled off, Sat on his bed he put on his earphones and cranked up the volume on his phone. With a brief flash of light accompanied by a low beep a notification popped up on his phone; it displayed a new inbox message. He didn't care to read it but he knew who the sender was so it wasn't important. Besides there wasn't that many people that had his number anyway. Planning to set out as soon just before day break he built a playlist to get him through the next few hours.
The following morning he got ready and swiftly departed. He had to make up for the time he lost. He slung his sword over his shoulder, the tip of the blade was dancing about in the air as he walked. Soon approaching what he thought to be his destination he relaxed a little, his grip loosened on his blade as he sheathed it. "Well...This seems to be the place" Brook muttered to himself as he double checked the co-ordinates. Not taking any chances he peered his head around the corner of a small-ish building to get more a clue to it's dimensions so that he could hazard a guess at what he'd find within. "Aw hell with this." Without hesitation he barged right in and braced himself for whatever was inside. A....woman? What the hell is this? He thought to himself as he eyed the brunette that was standing near to him. Eyeing her up he took care to look for a weapon before speaking, "I suppose you're my contact?"

Chloe was getting very…
…very…
…VERY impatient. In fact, she was ready to set off by herself and figure this task out without the help of anyone. She was smart, she knew her way around danger, she could find this treasure! This idol was as good as hers, and once that was found…that gil was as good as hers, and without help…that meant she could get more pay? Well maybe not, but whatever, she could hope. It was just a few thoughts to keep her mind busy, to keep her pacing and to draw her away from her impatience. With a frown on her face as the tanned woman walked back and forth, her arms folded, she kept looking around, waiting for this assistant…or whatever the hell this person was. Chloe wasn’t even sure she wanted to wait and find out. Just watch, she was getting punked or something…there was no task, no idol, no gil with her name written all over it. She was going to be so pissed off if this was just a joke. If this was a joke…she sure as hell wasn’t laughing.
Hearing a sound, Chloe stopped moving immediately, her arms folded across her chest as she turned sharply and swiftly, staring some white haired young man in the face with a look of disinterest. So this was no joke, they had sent someone her way to assist her…but this…was not professional whatsoever. With an exasperated sigh, Chloe dropped her hands from being folded across her chest. “Yeah yeah I’m your contact. Whoever the hell organized all of this…do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting?” she said in a stressed – not so angry – voice before she pressed a hand to her forehead, another hand up in the air as if to dismiss her words. “Nevermind let’s just…get going. As a native of this world I assume you know your way around this Wutai area, we’re supposed to find an idol, kind of like a metal bust of sorts. There are some old ruins that lead away from this Wutai place…since you’re the guy with the sword and the local knowledge, I’d hope at least, then I’ll let you lead the way…unless you want me to.” She said in a more matter of fact tone, ready to take charge should she need to.
With another sigh, Chloe found herself a little less annoyed and a little more ready for adventure! She always got excited for a good treasure hunt. Looking back towards the new guy, Chloe extended a hand, whether it be a greeting on this world that he was accustomed to or not, he had damn well better shake her hand in respect. “Chloe Frayzer, fortune seeker extraordinaire from the world of Ivalice. And you are?” she said with a small tilt of her head, her hand still extended as she waited, waited to see if she could get along with this guy, otherwise she didn’t mind silence. Silence was golden after all, but if he seemed to be nice enough, up for the challenge enough, then Chloe wouldn’t mind being her explosive self. Leaping into danger without looking, diving for a challenge wherever it was…she was ready to hunt some treasure and if this white haired guy wasn’t, then he better sit his ass down and stay behind. Chloe was a true adventurer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 640 Muse: Good! Tagged: Logan Wearing: Already linked. Listening To: A movie. Notes: Sorry for the shorter length. Logan's eyes hovered over her frame and focused on what seemed to be the outline of a firearm before he made eye contact with the brunette. He mimicked her look of disinterest as he listened to the stressed; yet annoyed voice. Not really liking her tone; whether it was intentional or not he opened his mouth ready to bark a response until she raised her hand in the air and carried on, on a wild tangent. Quickly dismissing the majority of what she said, he focused on some of the key points before he even considered talking to the fiery brunette. An idol? Hmmm what a drag.A sudden gust of the wind entered the room and brushed against the back of his head reminded him that he hadn't closed the door behind him when he entered. The wind ruffled his hair and made his leather coat dance in a mesmerising fashion. Despite the fact that they'd soon be departing he closed the door in order to make it easier to talk.
Brook knew that a few things would have be sorted out before he even thought of setting out on a expedition with this stranger and the noise created from the wind wasn't really helping anything. Besides it was flipping nippy. "First thing's first. What the hell are you talking about; this world? You make it sound like you're an alien or something. Where the hell are you from?" He blurted out with an exasperated look on his face. "Never mind....girl you crazy. I don't know if following you around blindly is wise." His fingers twitched out of impatience. "I'll tell you what, you go ahead and I'll follow your lead. I'd rather have you somewhere that I can see you then doing god knows what behind me."
There was a slight change in tone when she next spoke, Brook pondered on the reason behind it. Her features softened and Brook detected a hint of excitement in her voice. Did I get it wrong? Nah she's fucking weird. There's something....off. A quick movement broke his trail of thought, at first he thought she was attacking him but quickly calmed down when he realised what was going on. Damn it. Gotta remember to pay attention. The woman extended her hand towards him. She introduced herself as Chloe Frayzer, a 'fortune seeker'. Her profession bought a smile to his face. "So you're a treasure hunter huh? Well I'm Logan Brooks...." After a brief pause he added, "But you can call me Brook". He took her hand shaking it slightly. For some reason or another he couldn't shake the feeling that he was in for a LONG trip.
He opened the door for her and bowed mockingly as if he said after you. "As for my....profession well you can figure that out for yourself". Spinning the cold frame of mercy around his index finger he stood up and motioned towards the door. "Let's get this show on the road". The following seconds felt like hours, in the absence of conversation he began to think about what he might end up doing. There was something....ambiguous about this assignment; like there was a hidden agenda behind it. If this was just a basic snatch and grab then there would be no reason for him to be there, right? Maybe he was thinking to much into this or maybe there was something about this girl, This Chloe Frayzer. 'Fortune Seeker Extraordinaire'.

Well at least the waiting was over. Chloe was ready to get this mission over with as soon as possible. It wasn’t the same as Ivalice, this place was dull…dark…and almost depressing for her taste. At least Ivalice had a little bit more color than this, especially Rozarria. Oh well, she’d get back home in due time, but right now she had to deal with a man who had snow white hair and apparently thought she was just plain nuts. Coo coo for cocopuffs or something like that. Tilting her head to the side a bit and placing her hands firmly on the smaller part of her waist, she gave him an odd look, almost of disbelief. Had he not HEARD of those portals before? Apparently anyone she talked to around here had at least heard something about them…boy was this guy living in the dark or what? “Are you kiddin’ me? You haven’t heard of those damn portals? Ever see anything strange walking across your lands? New faces that just stick out? Like me.” She said, using herself as an example. She after all…was a living example. “I’m from a world call Ivalice, a little more…ancient and what have you, but a damn fine world if you ask me. Those portals brought me here. Don’t believe me? Ask anyone when we’re through with this task, yeah? I think enough time has been wasted here.” She said firmly, but the change in her tone was…needed. Though they did need to get going, getting acquainted first was probably more important. Especially since this guy didn’t want to have her following him. She wasn’t some sort of creep, but whatever. If they got hopelessly lost, you know whose fault it was! Not Chloe’s. “Hell yeah I’m a treasure hunter, I wouldn’t be doing this job if I wasn’t. A girl’s gotta make some gil while she’s…on vacation, besides, it’s better than sitting around doing nothing but praying for a portal that’ll take me home.” She said with a slight shrug, thankful that her handshake was even acknowledged. Many times her friendliness had been taken as simply nothing, it turned her into a bit of a hot head, made her a bit more sarcastic with her thinking…and simply made her not give a damn about much of anything or anyone. Nodding in agreement towards Brook, Chloe turned swiftly, pulling a compass from her belt that had a few pouches on it, inside it had a few useful items. Some matches, a compass and what not, the little things that helped you survive, not to mention some more ammunition should she need it. Holding the compass up a bit towards her face, she watched the needle bob around a bit before it was pointing north. Turning towards the East, she started taking a few steps. “If my memory serves me correct, we head this way. I sure hope you can keep up, because if you fall behind…you fall behind.” she warned, but she didn’t think there would be much to worry about. Walk a little bit, invade some old ruins or a cave, whatever it was, steal the idol and be done with it. It wasn’t that hard of a job now was it? Worth a little bit of effort for a nice sum of gil in the end of it all. Her stride picked up though, she wanted to make this quick and easy, hopefully the trail ahead would allow for that. “So tell me about yourself Snow-White. What made you decide to be a…mercenary of sorts for hire? Did I get your profession right?” she asked while keeping the lead, her hands ready to move in an instant to her firearms, you just never know what could be lurking around these places.
