Prompt: Tidus finds himself back at his Zanarkand, the dream version, just when Yuna needs him most. He must make a decision: stay here or return to face his own disappearance when the Fayth stop dreaming.
___
This is...home...!
Tidus stood, in awe and shock, at the beautiful sight that was all around him. The noise, the lights, the energy. Zanarkand. His Zanarkand! The city that never sleeps. Everything was how he remembered it. No ruins, no Yunalesca. Just busy people and the wild party that seemed to encompass the whole city night in and night out. He fell to his knees, still not truly believing this was real. The ground was solid. The air was heavy. It weighed down on him so much, but it began to sink in.
He was back.
He walked down the oh so familiar street that lead to the Bliztball Stadium, his second house in Zanarkand. Along the way, fans cheered at the sight of their favorite Abe. Tidus couldn't help but to give them a friendly wave. In Spira, he wasn't a star Blizter. He was just one of the summoner's guardians. It was a nice change of pace; to be recognized and idolized. Though after everything he'd been through, it felt a little silly. Maybe he hadn't missed the limelight as much as he thought.
Still, this was his crowd and he could tell tonight was a Blitzball night by how crazed everyone was. They would laugh and cheer throughout the night and then party after the big game until the sun came up. It was life for those in Zanarkand, a life Tidus thought he'd miss. He'd especially missed his ferocious Zanarkand Abes, the all-star team he'd become the champion for. It would be amazing to play for his team again, not that he minded Wakka and the Besaid Aurochs. They were starting to improve, after all.
Tidus noticed the closer he got to the stadium, the more his previous life seemed juvenile. Spira had shown him so many things he'd been ignorant to before. The senseless deaths and war, the corruption of leaders, and the blind hope so many placed on the Summoner. Sin didn't matter to these people here. To them, Sin did not even exist, just a scary story parents told to keep their kids in line.
But that was just it. Sin would never come here, not again. This place would remain untouched by its destructive force and would continue its eternal high life. He could stay here and never disappear. He could play Blitzball and bask in the glory of all his fans. Every night could be a new party and...
Every day would keep him away from the one who needed him by her side so much.
Sure, he wouldn't disappear, but knowing he'd run away from Auron, Rikku, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, and her would weigh down upon him every day. They were his family. They'd taken him in, defended him, stood up when no one else would. Spira had become his new home. It was a beautiful place, full of so many awe-inspiring things. And his dad-
His dad didn't run away. He knew he couldn't come back, but he pushed on. He even chose to become Sin, trapped as a monster with no will. Tidus could never live with himself if he let that bastard show him up. No, he'd face his fate. He'd show his old man how much he'd grown, how much stronger he'd gotten. Besides what was the point of existence if every day was a regret? He couldn't abandon Spira, not when he had the strength to stop Sin.
He could never abandon the woman he loved, either.
"I don't care if I'll die! I don't want to run away from what I need to do! If my existence is the only cost to stop Sin for good, then consider it paid! Take me back! Take me back to Spira, to my friends, to Yuna!!"
As if waiting for their dream to call, the Fayth responded and in a burst of light Tidus' Zanarkand faded away into the deck of the airship, Celsius. The sun was shining brightly and the wind was calm. They were only a few days from their final assault on Sin. Beside him stood Yuna, smiling, cheerful as she always was. Before she spoke, he pulled her close and embraced her.
This is home.
