"Gah!" Scrambling to find a purchase on the crumbling cliff-face, Locke managed to find a sturdy hold as his legs swung back and forth underneath him. He pulled himself as close to the cliff as he could as rocks and pebbles rained down all around him. He hadn't been paying attention (or at least not nearly as much as he should have been) to the mountain path, and had lost his footing on some loose rocks. "Nice going, Locke." he mumbled to himself as the tiny rock-slide slowed above him. It wouldn't do any good to die here, not before I've gotten the treasure!
He took a deep breath as he looked up to where he had fallen from. That had been far too close. Licking his dusty lips, he gritted his teeth and started to climb back towards the path. There were a few shaky situations where the rocks he had held onto weren't as secure as he thought, but eventually he managed to get back to the path. His knees were scraped and bloody, as well as his hands where the rocks had sliced into them. A sigh escaped his lips as he wiped his hands on his pants, staining them with more blood. Maybe after this I should head to Narshe. I haven't seen everybody in a while. Maybe Celes will be there!
But first, he had to get that treasure. Locke wasn't about to let this one pass him by. He was so close, he could taste it. Pushing himself back to his feet, determination was etched onto his features as he made his way towards the cave in question. Gotta be a little more careful, he thought as he picked his way across the treacherous path. In what seemed like no time at all, the entrance loomed before him. "Finally!"
The cave was small. Tiny even. There only seemed to be one room, and Locke looked around cautiously for traps. This is too simple. Finding nothing forthcoming, he ventured into the cave and made his way towards the treasure chest at the back. There was still nothing, and it had the hairs on the back of his arms standing on end with anticipation. Looking around once more when he had reached the chest, he furrowed his brow in confusion. Who leaves a treasure so...unguarded? Shaking his head, Locke knelt on the ground and inspected the chest a little closer.
"There you are!" At the latch on the chest, there seemed to be a sensor of some sort. But what does it do? Locke continued to search the area, letting out a small sound of triumph as he saw small holes in the ceiling. "Nasty little trap." Now that he knew what to expect, he was much more relaxed. This'll be easy. Pulling out his lockpick, he knelt behind the chest and got to work. It was made a little more challenging picking the lock upside down, but he had the skills to do it.
When he heard the small click of the latch being undone, as he lifted the lid he leapt backwards and hit the wall behind the chest. Spikes predictably fell in front of the chest, impaling the ground harmlessly. "Hah!" Locke moved back towards the chest and peered into it. "What the...?" Pulling out the object in question, his eyes widened in disbelief. "I went through all that...for this?" For in his hand, he held a simple 'earring' relic. His mouth opened and closed comically a couple of times, before he pocketed the relic and made his way towards the mouth of the cave. He wasn't about to let it go, no matter how small it was. "Well, guess I'm goin' to Narshe."
