Leila sat at her desk, her legs up on the surface as she looked at the map in her hands. A bored expression was on her face as she tried to somehow figure out where they should head for next. There was land in all different directions, and she wasn’t exactly sure where it would be best to land before heading out for their next destination. Sometimes it was hard being the type of person who though three steps ahead but it always paid off, whether it be getting good supplies and even better booty. She let out a sigh and placed the map down on her desk as she stood up and stretched her slightly numb muscles. She headed towards the windows, looking out at the sea that they continued to left behind. From the looks of it, they were moving pretty fast, which was good. That meant her crew was working.
Thinking about her crew, reminded her of the last time that she had dropped anchored and allowed all of them to drink themselves into a stupor. Which lead to her thinking about Leon, the knight looking for redemption. She wondered if he had found it yet. Probably not, especially with how troubled he had looked when mentioning it. Ok, so maybe he didn’t look troubled, but she could tell he was. She wondered if he was alright. She wondered if he thought of her. It was strange. Usually when she found someone to fancy, they didn’t last in her mind very long because they weren’t very interesting. Leon had been the exact opposite, catching her interest the minute she had saw him at that pub, and piquing her interest even more as the night had progressed.
The sound of yelling outside on her ship brought her attention back to the present. She turned around, coming to the conclusion that a brawl was occurring and that she would have to break it up. Lovely. Grumbling under her breath and raising her hand to her sword hilt, she headed outside. Upon opening the door, she was surprised to see not a crazy mess of a brawl, but instead her a good amount of her crew was on one side of the ship, while the other half was rushing around trying to find something. “What the bloody ‘ell is goin’ on?” she demanded, raising her voice over all of the noise. The crew froze and looked over at their captain, before somehow finally spoke up and pointed down at the water, “there’s someone in the water, captain!”
“What do ya mean someone is in the water?” she mumbled un her breath as she moved over to the left side of the boat, where half of her crew was looking over the rail. She pulled two of her crewmen from the sailors and took their places, looking over the railing, her hair falling over her shoulder. Her eyes widened as she looked down at the familiar body that was floating along the surface thanks to a long piece of wood. Leon. She twisted around quickly, her face completely serious.
“Stop the ship! Bring up the sails! Lower the anchor! Get that man out of the water! NOW!”
The crew moved into action as soon as she was finished giving the commands. The sails were brought up, cutting off the speed of the boat dramatically. The anchor was lowered as quickly as possible bringing the ship to a complete stop. The ladder was lowered and a rope was wrapped around Leon’s torso. Sailors heaved and lifted Leon up and onto the boat. Leila fell down to her knees next to him and placed a hand against his chest as she put her ear close to his lips. The slight breath hit it, and she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. He was alive and breathing. She stood. “Someone help me take him into my quarters. Get a change of clothes as well. We need to get his armor off so that he doesn’t freeze to death.”
Leon was carried into Leila’s quarters and was laid down on her bed. His armor was taken off, and his sword put next to the bed, as Leila waited outside for her men to finish. Once they exited, she entered and sat down in her chair, keeping her eyes on Leon and waiting for him to wake up.

Leon took a deep breath before he plunged into the freezing water. Down…down he sunk, the cold water pouring over his features. With strong motions, he tried to pull himself back up to the surface, but every time he tried, he got pulled back under. He had managed to hold his breath, but even now he could feel it tearing at his lungs. He needed oxygen. With strong kicks of his legs and strokes with his arms, Leon finally emerged to the surface of the raging sea waters, gasping in a breath before he got tugged down again. Once more, with renewed zeal to live, Leon got himself to the surface. This time, he managed to stay afloat for a bit longer before the waves once more pummeled him underneath the surface. And still he struggled to get above the water level. The next time he did, Leon coughed up some water and kicked furiously to stay above the waves. Midnight blue eyes turned to the ship that was very much sinking. A monster had attacked it, and was currently destroying it. Leon had started to attack it, but it had sent him into the watery deep. Leon struck out toward the ship, hearing the screams of people and the shrieks from the sea creature. Yet, the waves kept pushing him back, and he couldn’t seem to reach the ship, no matter how hard he tried.
And so he watched the ship dragged down by the creature. Leon finally stopped struggling to reach it, blue eyes widened somewhat. He had thought creatures like that nothing more than a legend…but here, before his eyes, it had swallowed an entire ship. He wasn’t sure what to make of that, but he did feel shock. If the piece of wood hadn’t slammed up against his skull, Leon might have remained there in a daze and drowned. Fortunately for him, the piece of wood, part of the ship he had been on, did indeed slam into his skull. Instantly, on instinct, she wrapped his arms around the bit of wood and clung to it, completely exhausted. With his cheek resting against the piece of wood, Leon felt himself being pushed away from the spot of the ship sinking and just bowed his head, clinging to his source of life, shivering violently from the cold.
Some time later, with his body feeling completely numb, Leon closed his eyes, somehow still clinging to the log. His heart slowed, as well as the rest of him, and he simply rested there, the waves deciding his fate. Leon’s last thoughts were of a raging sea creature and the screams of the humans that had been pulled to their watery graves.
~~~
Leon didn’t know what was happening to him, but through a fog he seemed to feel the hands that grasped at his body. Leon clasped desperately to his piece of wood even as hands tried to pry it away, somehow knowing that it was his source of protection. He seemed to feel being carried and laid on firm ground. His eyes blinked rapidly, and he swore that he could hear a familiar voice. Yet, even as he tried to form words, he once again slipped into a darkness, body relaxing on the deck of another ship. One of this thoughts was that this was all just another dream, and that he was still floating away in the ocean.
~~~
It was some time later too when Leon started to regain his senses. He felt…warm. His last thoughts had been the crashing of the sea dragging him away from the ship sinking at the hands of a creature…and now he felt warm. Damn it, wasn’t warmth the result of hypothermia? Through his fogginess he struggled to wake up. It seemed like he was fighting a battle within himself. Somehow, he was taken back mentally to the battle with the sea creature before he had been slammed into the ocean. “No!”, he muttered out, rolling his head to the side and attempting, in his visions, to attack the beast that hissed and screeched at him.

Leila stared down into the water, at the body that continued to float, and wondered how in the world someone like Leon could end up looking so broken. He was bent over the piece of wood like it was the only thing that mattered in his life, and at that moment it most likely was. Even Leila knew that with the amount of armor he wore that he wold be pulled down immediately. It was luck that he had been able to find a piece of wood that would be able to hold him up whatever the situation had been. Her crew moved around the ship, doing as she commanded and Leon was brought up on to the ship. She moved next to him, and made sure he was breathing; thankful that he was. She had him brought into her cabin, and her crew got him out of his armor and into some warm clothes. She kept the armor and sword near the bed knowing that he would most likely want to see them as soon as he woke up, however long that took.
Sitting down in her chair, she moved into a position so that she could keep her eye on him, watching him carefully. She was still in shock at the fact that he had been the one in the water. He had seemed so strong when she had last seen him. What could have possibly happened that would make him end up looking so weak? She would have to ask him when he woke up and was able to make coherent sentences. That was the only way to get the information seeing as how he had obviously lived through it. The only thing to worry about was whether or not he remembered it. She let out a sigh. She would find out. He was really turning out to be something special. Usually when they found someone shipwrecked, they would bring them up to see if they still had any valuables on them and then throw them back into the ocean. She had also felt her stomach sink a little when she had seen him floating about in the water. It was all so strange. her relationships with men were quick and fleeting. Leon was turning out to be very different from what she had come to know.
He suddenly stirred and she stood up from her chair quickly, wondering if he was already waking up. He wasn’t. Instead, he started to grunt and twist and turn in bed. Her brow furrowed as he started to get more violent, his simply tossing and turning now turning into thrashing. He was yelling out and Leila moved over quickly, placing her hands on her shoulders. “Leon! Wake up! It’s just a dream! Ye’re alrigh’. Ye’re on me ship. Calm down.” She hoped her words were getting to him. She was right when she remembered him being strong. It was taking all that she had to hold him down and she was already growing tired. She grit her teeth and pushed down harder, trying to help in the best way that she could without hurting him. He had to wake up soon. He had to.
