Job: PSICOM Director/Lieutenant Colonel, AMP technology

Appearance Yaag Rosch's hair is silver, in a style that consists of thick, collar-length bangs, is spiked at the front on top slicked down at the back, and features a short ponytail tied with a black ribbon. He has sharp facial features, a nearly vertical scar running the length of his forehead, and blue-grey eyes. He wears the usual uniform of a male PSICOM lieutenant colonel and a thin sabre at his belt called Masamune.
Personality: He is a very focused individual set on keeping Cocoon stable and protecting it from any threatening or unclear influences except for the Sanctum. He dislikes the fal'Cie and would be happy to see them gone, but he sees no good alternative to fal'Cie rule or practical way of removing them. However, with some effort, he hides this well, and to a certain extent rationalizes the situation to himself. All this makes him seem very cold.
These thoughts also give him his intense hatred, fear, and possibly slight envy of Lightning's group. He is shown to be quite image-conscious and short-tempered when he tries to break the camera filming him while Snow and Fang are nearly playing with his soldiers with embarrassing ease and when he gives a very melodramatic, supposed to be rousing, speech to his soldiers.
History: Yaag Rosch is introduced giving orders to every soldier in Palumpolum with his voice amplified, ordering them to eliminate the l'Cie without mercy. After he gives the orders, he says to himself, "If we fail, more citizens will pay the price." He was given this post in part because he is thought to have a good relationship and experience with the Guardian Corps, who have been deployed in conjunction with PSICOM in Palumpolum. Rosch and his soldiers surround Lightning and Hope when they emerge from the underground, but Snow and Fang's arrival forces him to fall back. Rosch then declares Palumpolum to be under PSICOM jurisdiction, much to the Guardian Corps' dismay. His soldiers then begin collecting Palumpolum citizens, who they had been evacuating, because they believe it is likely these people will need to be Purged. Eventually trapping the l'Cie at Hope's residence, Snow emerges and tries to convince the soldiers what they are doing is wrong. This leads the soldiers to become uncertain about their orders; Rosch, however, becomes annoyed by this and argues in favor of the Sanctum. During this reply, Rosch reveals that he dislikes the fal'Cie. He and Snow argue regarding the safety of Cocoon's citizens, but are interrupted when one of his soldiers throws a smoke grenade and opens fire on his squad. It is unexplained why he does this but it is likely he was convinced by Snow or was an undercover Cavalry soldier. Rosch is injured in the attack, and the l'Cie escape with the Cavalry's aid.
Later, the l'Cie infiltrate the Sanctum flagship, the Palamecia, in an effort to subdue Primarch Galenth Dysley and save Sazh and Vanille who are being held for a show trial and public execution. The Palamecia begins to sink due to damage caused by the l'Cie's efforts, but the l'Cie escape onboard Menrva, Dysley's owl-like rukh, which had taken the form of an airship. Rosch, who had not yet encountered the l'Cie aboard the Palamecia and seeming more driven by feelings about the l'Cie than duty, pursues them in his personal airship, the Proudclad and attempts to shoot them down. However to Rosch's confusion, Menrva's powers protect the l'Cie, and allow them to bypass the shield surrounding the city of Eden while Rosch is denied access.
When Barthandelus began sending creatures from the Fifth Ark to Eden Rosch assumes his required duties being a PSICOM Lieutenant Colonel, in addition to piloting the Proudclad in defense of the city. Meeting the party Rosch again explains, more hatefully, the reasoning behind following the Sanctum and hating the l'Cie, which has had to change due to the revelations of the situation to become even more flimsy. Doing little more than ignoring the l'Cie's response Rosch ends the conversation by attacking. Having lost Rosch retreats in a damaged Proudclad with hate undiminished. Rosch is later seen trying to protect Edenhall alone with feelings little changed, despite seeing Sanctum fal'Cie turn his men into Cie'th. With a brief exchange he attacks the l'Cie, and is seriously but non-mortally wounded in the process. The Proudclad was disabled, and the injured Rosch reveals to the l'Cie's sympathy that while he knew the fal'Cie were calling the shots, he did not realize their ultimate goal until it was too late. Finally seeing that the l'Cie were not the enemy, Rosch orders a halt to all of PSICOM's and the Guardian Corps' l'Cie operations. Shortly after the party enters Edenhall, Rosch having declined an invitation to join the party in favor of staying, a pair of Humbabas appear. In a knowingly suicidal act, Rosch detonated a powerful grenade to stop the creatures from pursuing the l'Cie into Edenhall.
Now Rosch has been revived by the Fal'Cie, yet his purpose is unknown just yet.
