Pickles And Ice Cream [Trey]

Walking slowly, Rosa made her way down the small trail outside her castle home. She had always loved nature, and besides that, she needed some fresh air and a little exercise. There was so much to do these days, and even though she wasn't showing yet, she got tired a lot easier, and seemed to be constantly hungry. In the back of her head she worried she was going to get fat, but then again, she still practiced with her bow and arrow, she would stay in shape doing that right? It felt weird, being the queen of Baron. She could honestly say she wasn't quite comfortable with the position yet. Perhaps it was because they had just gotten done with a huge adventure, and along with that, the fact that she and Cecil had a little on on its way.

Speaking of which...she was really hungry. Hearing the rumbling of her stomach, Rosa shook her head and stood up, pretty light eyes scanning the area. Pretty soon she really was going to get fat, not just a stomach from her baby. Speaking of which, she needed to start coming up with names. Jack? No. Pondering over names, Rosa found herself in the kitchen of the castle and reached up into the cupboard to find some food. Finding something to munch on, Rosa put it in her mouth and wandered to another cupboard, searching there as well. Crawling up on the counter, she reached back and pulled out some dried fruit. Munching on it, she dropped off the counter and started back through the castle.

If she knew where Cecil was she would go and visit him, but for all she knew, he was out training or taking care of some problem. For once today he didn't tell her where he was going. Wandering to her and Cecil's room, Rosa yawned and stretched, before her eyes settled on her weapon, hanging where it normally did. She knew what she could do now anyway. She did need to stay in shape, just because she was hungry all the time didn't mean she should just get fat. No. She wasn't going to do that to herself. So picking up her weapon, Rosa turned and strode out of their room, heading toward the outskirts. She didn't know exactly where she was going to end up, but she could take care of herself.

When she got further away, suddenly a monster appeared. Rosa had been keeping her eyes peeled, so when the monster attacked, she was ready for it. Ducking and rolling, Rosa tucked in her shoulder before coming to her feet, bowstring pulled back and arrow ready. With a serious look on her face, Rosa tensed her muscles before quickly relaxing her grip and letting her arrow fly. True to its aim, it hit the monsters and it fell back, arrow embedded into the hide. Rising to her feet once more, Rosa brushed herself off and made her way toward the monster. Kneeling beside it, she jerked her arrow out and looked at where it had pierced the hide. She hadn't lost her touch. Nodding approvingly, she got to her feet, only for her gaze to be pulled in by something colorful. Blinking, Rosa found herself being pulled in by the blue object.

Furrowing her brow, Rosa picked her way toward the object, watching her footing. As she neared it, she slowed more and more until she had stopped right in front of it. "What...is it?" She had no idea what it even was, and so she did what she thought as the logical thing. She reached out to touch it. Immediately she knew it was a bad idea. The arrow she had been holding dropped as she felt herself being sucked in. "Noo! Cecil!" Struggling, she was sucked in anyway and somehow managed to hang on to her bow and arrows. She had a moment after she had been sucked in where she could feel, but the brightness overtook her.

The next second she was spat out. Rosa felt herself falling, the next moment she felt the impact and groaned as her bow clattered to the ground. Lying there stunned for a few moments, Rosa blinked rapidly before groaning again and trying to push herself up, only to fall back down and rest for another few seconds. Shaking her head, she once again pushed herself up until she was on her hands and knees, dragging in air. The force of the hit had knocked the wind out of her and so she just knelt there, eyes blankly looking at the ground beneath her. She didn't know where she was, or that she was in a school. All she could feel was the cold tile beneath her and she knew she wasn't where she had been before. Yet she hadn't gotten the mind set back as to know exactly where she was yet, or even that she was truly gone.

The halls sat silent, save for the occasonal creaking of a door, quiet sound of running water, or the muffled footsteps of a random student scampering through the hallways to get more toilet tissue or sneak out and meet someone in the courtyard for a late-night excursion. Trey could see a younger student slip in and out of his vision every little while as he quietly trailed down the hallway himself, but most of them disappeared into creaking doors, apparently having gone to use the bathroom or something otherwise innocent. A few simply disappeared altogether. They weren't Trey's responsibility, so he just kept on about his business. Business which mainly dealt with Trey having forgotten to restock his fridge to account for Machina's presence. What else would merit Trey making a trip all the way to the stock fridge to get something to eat when he woke up, stomach rumbling, in the middle of the night?

Well, certain things came to mind, but none of them applied.

A loaf of bread tucked under one arm and a spicy spread under the other one, Trey ran into nobody but the shadows of other students as he crept his way back towards his dorm, and the shadows were even few and far between. Once he neared his hallway, absolutely no one was around, his footsteps the only sound that managed to reach his own ears. He'd been successful in sneaking his way out of the dorm without waking up Machina (so he felt, at least), a challenge he wasn't used to facing quite yet as he'd only shared the dorm for a handful of days now. Getting back in with his food would provide a different challenge altogether, but as a member of Class Zero, Trey could just as likely pull such a thing off as anyone.

A strange sound and a rush of wind stopped the blond archer in his tracks. An eyebrow quirked underneath his bangs, and he turned his head back towards the origin. He couldn't see anything, but admittedly, only marginally dim light filled the hallway. Content to believe he'd just had a chill or something similar, Trey began to take the last step or two before reaching the dorm door. Shuffling stopped him short yet again. His face truly pulled into a look of suspicious confusion now if it hadn't been before, Trey glanced down the hallway again before curiosity caused him to walk back down the hallway a ways, his footsteps even lighter now than before. The shuffling continued for a moment or two, leading Trey further down the hallway and eventually to a corner before it finally stopped.

Many, many explanations filled Trey's mind, some of them good, some of them bad. The worst of the explanations made him hope that a loaf of bread and a jar could work as decent temporary weapons if the situation turned sour. Trey expected much more of the jar than of the bread.

Slowing at the corner and keeping himself concealed behind it, Trey listened for any more noises before daring to poke his head out and search down the side corridor. Again, the dim light made judging what lay before him difficult, but Trey noticed a feminine form on the floor - barely moving, but chest heaving. The outline of her attire was...not quite abnormal, considering Trey was quite used to the strange outfits people wore in this world, but to believe that it was a student's uniform would have been absolutely ludicrous, considering how.....white it seemed. Trey could only see the back of her blond head and genuinely had no guess whatsoever as to what this woman could be doing on the floor. Regardless, she didn't seem particularly threatening. Of course, Cinque didn't seem particularly threatening at a distance, either, and look where that had gotten him....

Still, she seemed....downed by something. He'd seen no attempt for her to reach her feet as of yet. Trey, never one to have a hard time motivating himself, took a few steps towards her, his voice finding its own bravery a moment later. "Excuse me.....is there something wrong?" He asked, quietly, leaning in towards her with his bread and jar still trapped in his arms possessively.

Laying there, Rosa groaned again before moving slightly. Her first thoughts after she regained a bit of thinking were on her baby. She had barely started to show yet, but what if her falling had harmed him in some way? She'd fallen mostly on her back thankfully, but that didn't mean that the baby hadn't been hurt. She didn't care about her own aches and pains so much as her and Cecil's child. Rosa didn't want anything to happen to him or her, and so she reached a delicate hand over to feel her stomach, hoping that nothing was wrong with it. She couldn't feel it moving! But...then again, she didn't normally get to feel it moving. Okay, it was probably fine, she shouldn't be worrying so much. So for another few seconds, she just lay there, trying to relax her muscles, but knowing she had to get up eventually. With another little groan, she finally moved and started to get to her feet. Peering down at the tile beneath her, she tried to see where she was at.

That was when someone spoke close to her. Not recognizing the voice, Rosa felt compelled to move, not even realizing what the man was saying. Just knowing it was a male voice and that a stranger was talking to her. Spying her bow by her hand, Rosa made a grab for it, sweeping up an arrow as she did so before jumping halfway to her feet, on one knee. Turning her upper body, she ignored the aches and pains and with one swift motion notched her arrow, pulled the string back and had it aimed directly for the mans chest. Perhaps it was her motherly instincts, but no one was going to harm her or her baby! What met her eyes however, was definitely not...a very aggressive looking guy. What was he? He had pajamas on, and...was that food held in his hands? Feeling that familiar rumble in her own stomach, she blinked and stayed where she was, on one knee, bowstring pulled back and ready to make her arrow fly directly into his chest, the adrenaline having taken over.

Finally loosening her string, she felt the dizziness taking over as the adrenaline wore off. Lowering her bow to where it was resting against the ground, Rosa rubbed her head and blinked, feeling weaker again. "I'm...I'm terribly sorry, I didn't realize-..." Didn't realize what? That a teenager in pajamas was the one jumping her and not some scary hulking creepy guy? That...probably wouldn't have made him feel any better. Sitting down instead of being on one knee, she looked up at him with her light eyes and attempted to smile before feeling stiffness in her body. She shouldn't go around falling on her back. "Forgive me, I didn't know who you were, now could you direct me back to the Baron castle please kind Sir?"

Blinking and looking up at him, Rosa slowly to her feet, still a bit unsteady. Brushing off her outfit, she pushed the cloth material back over her shoulder and swept her golden hair back from her eyes. Staring around them, she suddenly froze. For some reason she didn't think that this was just another part of her home...how...how...where was she? blankly staring around, Rosa stopped brushing off her clothes and just peered all around, unsure of what to do or even say. "What...where....how....where is this? This isn't....home." Stepping toward the teenager much taller then her, she gazed at him with large startled eyes. "This...this isn't Baron? Excuse me, but where am I?" Suddenly it hit her and her eyes got even bigger. "Oh no! Cecil! Rydia! Edge! Kain! Sir, sir please can you tell me where I am?"

In all honesty, Trey had noticed the woman jerk to action and reach for what he now recognized as a bow in time to call on his own weapon and properly defend himself. However, he remained essentially frozen in place, watching the woman and the shadows bending across the hallway with eyes that were as much concerned as they were worried. Trey couldn't exactly say why he wouldn't move - he didn't care that much about the loss of one jar of the spread should he have to drop the food under his arms. No, some little voice was compelling him to remain still and not draw his own bow. A little voice that had betrayed him plenty of times in the past. Trey could not understand why he continued to listen to it.

After withstanding the slowest five seconds of his life, Trey discovering himself staring down the length of the arrow that had been brought to bear on the center of his chest. Ah, now he knew how his sparring partners felt. Eventually, he pried his gaze from the object of his (possibly) impending doom and looked into the woman's face, still partially concealed. She seemed...younger than he had initially thought, and he had only believed her to be older since common sense informed him that she was no student. She could have easily been no more than nineteen or twenty by Trey's estimation. The look she returned to him was a rather steely one, making Trey wonder if he shouldn't have ignored the aforementioned little voice and had his own bow poised to strike. Fortunately, the steel seemed to slowly dissipate while their standoff continued.

Trey remained at a loss as she lowered her bow and moved a hand to her head. She didn't seem well, but she had just drawn a bow on him with enough speed to prove to the student that she possessed some skill with the weapon. Trey took a step towards her, mind forming a million questions that his mouth refused to vocalize. In all honesty, Trey was probably as flustered internally as she appeared to be - he simply refused to let that unsettled feeling show.

"Baron Castle?" Was she drunk? Had she wandered off and ended up here because of some wild night of partying? Trey knew nothing of any Baron Castles in the area, so if this was the case, she must have been very drunk to have ended up all the way out here at the school. And inside the school, no less. How had she gotten in here? Trey looked at her features more closely as she stood to her feet. No, she was not a student. He knew the face of every student that attended this school, and her face was unfamiliar. She was a classy kind of pretty, he decided, though Trey couldn't remember the last time...well, the last time he'd seen so much cleavage in one place... And he was just stating that as a fact. Honestly. He was sure she was a quality person, whether she'd wandered here drunk or not.

Thankfully Trey had been forgotten while he scrutinized her, seemingly in a panic when she realized she was not in this Baron place. Trey crouched down and sat aside the food in his arms against the wall. This turned out to be a very needed action, as the woman became louder and louder in her panic and Trey thought she would start waking every student on the hallway. As the majority of what she was saying made no sense anyway, Trey would rather she said such things quietly. Raising a finger to his mouth with a "Shhh." and attempting to calm her with a hand on her shoulder (that he honestly hoped he didn't lose), Trey gave a moment of pause to let things settle, turning to look down the hallway for anyone who had been roused from their sleep. He saw no one peeking out their doors. Crisis averted.

"Please, calm yourself. We have younger students who need their sleep." He did not add and I'd rather we not have an audience of thirty to forty students with you in this shape. "No, I'm afraid this is not Baron. You're in the Suzaku Fiefdom of Rubrum, in the third dorm hallway of the magic academy, and it's half past midnight." Honestly, he didn't want to shock her beyond the shock she'd already experienced, but he supposed if he handed her the entire current setting all in one she might take it a bit better. Unfortunately, he didn't think back to any of his psychology classes to come up with any other ways to calm her mind. "Do you need something to drink to clear your head?"

When he inquired about baron Castle, Rosa turned her gaze toward him, a puzzled look on her face. "Of course Sir, Baron Castle. Please direct me toward its location." Turning to look at him, she watched him expectantly, waiting for him to direct her to where she had to go. She really needed to get back to the castle. She must have been hit or attacked by a monster from behind or something, and knocked out. It must have been hours later, but...wait a minute. That blue thing! Rosa remembered now. What did that blue thing mean? She could remember being sucked through it. So...what did THAT mean? She was still in Baron...right? Or...she was somewhat close. Even if she was anywhere near Baron she could easily get a hold of Cecil and he could come get her, or she could make her way back to him. She had her bow and arrows, what more did she need?

When she started freaking out however, she finally realized. Finally realized that something really was amiss. It was when he told her where she was, and that she wasn't in Baron. "No! No...no no no no no! Sir you must be mistaken! This has to be Baron! I was just there! I was JUST in Baron. Please tell me you're joking. Is this some sort of prank? No. This cannot be." Oh noo....she had to get back to Baron! Cecil would have to start worrying about her if she was gone for too long. Perhaps he had already sent a rescue team after her! ...Wait...yes! He must have! He would come find her, and take her back! Right? He had to! Rosa couldn't stay...wherever she was right now! Suftkin, fredikin Rubrkim's school, or whatever he had said. If in fact, he was even speaking English.

When he told her about the younger children, Rosa folded her hands together and nodded, lowering her voice. He should be happy that she wasn't the kind to freak out for a long period of time. As of right now. Already she was thinking about solutions, or possible ways to fix what had happened. She couldn't believe she wasn't in Baron anymore. She really was hoping that she was simply dreaming. But something told her that she wasn't. That was what scared her. What if she never got home? What if Cecil never got to see their child? What if..there were a lot of what ifs. She couldn't let them get to her though. Rosa needed to concentrate, and at least she had someone nice that seemed willing to help her out. Glancing over at him, she blinked, and wondered at his something to drink. Did she look parched?

Confused for a moment, she decided that he was just being polite. Though she was used to people treating her like what she was. A Queen. Not that it mattered, Rosa hadn't always been a Queen, and was down to earth for the most part. She'd been through so much, that she was quite used to not having the royal treatment, and actually liked it better that way. Less people doting on you the better in her opinion. If she could have things her way, she and Cecil would just have a quiet life. "No thank you though. I wish to get in touch with my husband. He is the king of Baron, I was hoping that I would be able to get a hold of him easily, but if you haven't heard of Baron...then chances are, I'm guessing, that it will not be easy to get in contact with him? Is there anywhere I can write a letter that it will be delivered promptly?"

Trey’s confidence in his knowledge of geography left him racking his brain to recall any places known as Baron, or any castles that would have, for any number of reasons, bear that name. Nothing came to mind, and considering how difficult it was to try to keep this strange woman from breaking down completely here in the middle of the hallway in the dead of night, Trey couldn’t afford to devote all of his energies to recalling a place that he was fairly certain did not exist. Every panicked word spoken by the female felt like a stab to Trey’s nerves, and he just knew that in about two seconds half of the school was going to wake up and he would have to come up with some genuinely good excuse to keep them from having the woman arrested for trespassing on campus past curfew. Oddly enough, as she spoke, he couldn’t smell any alcohol on her breath. In the dark hallway, that was the only basis for judgment that the archer had to tell whether or not the female’s frantic blabbering was born of drunkenness or simply of confusion. And who was to say she hadn’t been drugged or something else that was just as unpleasant to think about?

Regardless of the circumstances, it was in both Trey and the woman’s best interests that she keep quiet, and he breathed a sigh of relief when he finally managed to calm and quiet her down. Perhaps he’d divulged too much information to her all at once. He supposed he should keep his own jabbering to a bare minimum to avoid any more…events. He also came to the realization that he didn’t know exactly where he could get her anything to drink at this time of night without rousing Machina from bed or chancing another invasion of the cafeteria, so he hoped he hadn’t gotten her excited over a large cup of coffee or a glass of water. Considering how much else she seemed to have on her mind, Trey sincerely doubted she would care if he didn’t follow up on his offer of a drink.

The third member of Class Zero ran a hand through his hair, trying to think of what exactly he should do at the moment and remembering he was still in his pajamas. What a perfect situation he found himself in. ”Is-“ there anyone you can contact to figure out how you ended up here?, Trey had planned to ask, but she volunteered the answer herself. Her….husband? The king of Baron? Writing a letter? None of it seemed to add up sensibly to the archer, and he was thankful the confusion written all over his face could not be clearly seen in the darkness. Who would write a letter in this day and age? And who in the world was she talking about when she referred to her husband? Were they all just delusions of grandeur she was having?

However, Trey forced himself to play a long in order to keep the peace. Nodding towards a nearby doorway that led to a balcony outside, he led the way and opened the door for her to step outside. Out here, if something he said to her caused a reaction that was just as loud as her previous ones, she could at least wail without disturbing anyone. Once they were out into the moonlight, Trey could more easily assess her attire. Certainly….not a local fashion, to be sure. Ah, ultimately, it didn’t matter whether she was a local anyway. Trey would find some sort of way to help her.

Wishing he hadn’t left his cell phone on his nightstand, Trey stepped over to the railing and sat down on it, offering for her to do the same if she so wished. ”Do you know your husband’s telephone number? I’m sure you would have no trouble reaching him if you use my cell phone, though I’ve left it in my room, so I’d need to retrieve it. I’m sure you would be able to contact your husband easily, and we could have you on your way back home at first daylight,” Trey said, believing himself to be very capably reassuring her. ”Is there anything else you might need for the night? I…could offer you my bed, if you’d like, but I’d recommend staying quiet. My roommate shouldn’t mind me sheltering you until morning, but I can’t guarantee the school authorities would be so generous.” At least, he hoped Machina wouldn’t. He certainly didn’t seem like the type to leave some poor, unfortunate, confused woman out on her own in a place she clearly wasn’t familiar with…

In fact, no one in Class Zero seemed capable of such a thing.

Rosa stood there in front of the poor boy, wringing her hands together. She was obviously worried. Worried about her husband, about why she had been dropped here, why in fact, she had been dropped here, and most importantly, if she would ever get to return home. Her hands dropped then, and covered her stomach, which had just barely begun to show, and was mostly hidden behind the folds of cloth that made up her garments. If she was any less disciplined, she might be crying and carrying on right now. However, after her initial shock, she mostly kept what she was thinking and feeling to herself. Yet everything he told her didn't make any sense. She should be back home in Baron, asleep with her husband beside her. Not...gallivanting around in another world, with a boy who didn't know what she was talking about, asking her to quiet down. She did quiet down however, because he had sound advice when he told her that.

She shouldn't carry on quite so much. She was the Queen of Baron after all. Acting with dignity and decorum was what she had to do. And so she straightened her shoulders back and let her left hand drop to her side, which was holding her bow and quiver of arrows. Her right hand still covered her stomach, and she looked at the blonde that was right now watching her intently. He must think her daft with her outburst and her inability to keep her mouth shut. And so she bowed her head slightly, before lifting it and straightening her outfit, brushing herself off, making herself presentable and hopefully, look like the Queen she was. "My apologies for carrying on good Sir. I just went through a small bit of shock, however, now that it has sunk in, I am much better I assure you. You must think me daft by now, I've sure carried on like I was." Her way of speaking was formal, and she held herself with poise.

She furrowed her brow when he turned and led them to the balcony, but followed, knowing that right now, he was the only person she had laid eyes on, and that he was the one that would have to help her. Besides, he seemed friendly enough, and if he did, for some reason, decide to attack her, she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Cecil might worry to much for her, but she could really take care of herself very well, just because she got into trouble didn't mean that she couldn't. Yet, she really did wish her husband was by her side. Though she could take charge of a situation and was a very apt leader, she would rather he take charge, and just follow his line of thinking. This whole get yourself out of situations by yourself thing could be challenging.

She followed him to the railing and sat down like he had, following his actions. Hopefully the railing held them. Had he done this before? Rosa couldn't help but have her gaze drawn to what was beneath them. What seemed to be a school or something of the sort went on for awhile, quite a large, nice looking place. Aquamarine eyes looked this way and that before she was drawn back to him sitting there talking to her. Glancing at him, she blinked when he asked what Cecil's telephone number was. "Telephone number? What exactly is that? What is a telephone? Perhaps some sort of mail carrying express? Well if that be the case, then of course I can tell you the address that I would like to send the letter." Shaking her head, she put her fingers up to her skull and pressed lightly. "Cell phone? Please Sir, slow down and explain your odd terms. I do not understand what a cell phone is, or a telephone, I simply wish to send him a letter that will reach him promptly."

Taking in a deep breath, she supposed that the letter would not reach him for some time, and arrangements for the night had to be made. Of course, she refused to take his bed away from him. "Oh thank you Sir, but I cannot take your bed away from you. Please allow me to occupy the couch, so that you may keep your bed. Thank you for the generous offer, but I must decline." With a firm nod, she reached out and patted his forearm, smiling at him sweetly. Then she caught the warning that the authorities might not appreciate it. Musing aloud, she put a hand under her chin. "If you will get in trouble for housing me, then I can very easily find another place to occupy, that is no problem, especially if you direct me to where I can go."

A warm smile tore at Trey’s lips when she apologized for her reaction, and he waved off her worries. Though he was still blind as to her exact situation, he supposed that whatever means brought her here to the school of magic, she had good reason to have an adverse reaction. Trey only wished it had been a bit quieter, but there was no need to fret about it. The students remained quietly tucked into their dorms, so far as the blond could tell. ”Don’t worry yourself over it. If panic made a man or woman daft, I doubt anyone in a pinch would be considered intelligent,” he ultimately said, folding his arms so that he had a hand on each elbow. ”I placed too much on you too quickly.” Of course, Trey hadn’t supposed informing her she was within the dorms of the school and that he knew nothing about Baron would have been such a shock to her, but it seemed that he was wrong. Now he was as confused as she seemed to be.

Once outside, with Trey’s thoughts clearing from the night air, he very much thought he could manage the situation and assist the strange woman through very simple means and have her heading back to this…Baron place before noon of the next day. Instead, she threw another curve at him, questioning what a telephone number and a cell phone were. Trey moved to speak and answer her, then he realized how ludicrous it was that she didn’t recognize those terms. He was truly beginning to worry for her sanity, admittedly, though her mannerisms indicated nothing particularly out of the ordinary. She just seemed…overwhelmed, though he supposed that could well hide instability. Regardless of his suspicions about her state of mind, Trey decided to appease her by explaining himself. ”You would not need to sit down and write a letter,” Trey began, supporting his elbows again as he went on, looking at her for any sign of realization. ”You can dial the number for Baron Castle, if you happen to know what it is – and if not, we can likely find it in the school’s directory. You should be able to speak to your husband directly. The telephone connects two different origins to allow them to communicate instantly, relaying the voice through a series of signals or electric currents. I’m sure you’ve heard of one, though…possibly not by that name?” Trey could not imagine a culture on this wide world of his that would not refer to a telephone as a telephone, but he supposed he didn’t quite know about everything. Then again, he was pretty sure…

He paused for a rare breath, leaning over to look down at the school’s campus for just a moment before he continued. ”My cellular phone is simply a cordless, mobile version of the telephone. We have a few landlines here at the school, and most of the students have their own personal cell phones, so you won’t have to look very far to find one you can use.” There. Though he hadn’t exactly slowed down as she had asked him to, explaining the devices in rapid succession, he supposed that he had properly summarized things. She’d put two and two together, realize she didn’t need to write any letter that would arrive days late to its destination, and Trey would no longer need to wonder if the woman had a firm grip on reality. His faith in this conclusion had been slowly slipping over the past few minutes, though, and Trey was thankful he had a clear night’s breeze to refresh him a bit. This certainly had not been among his plans for this evening, though he was happy to try and help her. If only he could figure out how.

Opting not to debate about offering her his bed at the moment, Trey reiterated his comment about the school authorities. ”No, no trouble like that. They would try to secure a room for you in a nearby hotel or something else that would…well, basically cause more trouble for everyone than really necessary. You probably know how a school faculty reacts to everything – as if they’re fighting a fire. Staying in our dorm for the night won’t be a problem at all, and I’d rather not get the whole school in a tizzy in the middle of the night.” Realizing he might have been a bit too demanding, Trey leaned back a bit, raising a hand to his chin. ”Unless, of course, you would rather stay in a hotel. Then I’m sure we can arrange something,” he added, with a little bit of a shrug. ”I’ll help either way if I can.” In what had to be his fifteenth reassuring nod of the past ten minutes, Trey clasped his hands in his lap and waited to be even further perplexed on this one starry night.

Rosa shook her head, ready to argue that she was Queen, and very much used to situations being placed on her shoulders where she didn't know quite what was happening, or events that were shocking. Such as being kidnapped plenty of times, or having caught the desert fever. So she opened her mouth to argue with him, before closing it. Obviously he thought her small and defenseless, she wouldn't ruin that image of her. Rosa took in a deep breath and placed her hand on her stomach again, thinking about what they had gone through. What her and Cecil, and the rest of them of course. It had been so long ago..well not really. How long had it been since they had gotten married? Not very long ago, she still deemed them in the honeymoon stage in their marriage. And since Cecil had taken the day off to be with her, he had started going a bit easier on himself. He made a tremendous ruler, but he also paid attention to her, just like he would their baby.

Once they got outside, he started using fancy terms she didn't know. What was a telephone and a cell phone? Some way to send a letter? It was all so confusing, and he wouldn't stop to explain, so she had to ask him what it was. She was worrying for his sanity just as much as he was worrying for hers. Terms she didn't know, and he used them so easily, like they were just every day terms. Had he hit his head on a rock or something? She debated asking him if he was alright, but shrugged it off. He might take offense if she asked him if he was feeling alright, or if he belonged in a mental institution, which was her second option for a question. Clearing her throat slightly, she turned her gaze toward him before sighing. She still didn't understand. Not write a letter? In order to get a hold of him, how could she NOT write a letter? He wasn't making any sense whatsoever. "Sir don't be silly, is not the way to get a hold of someone simply to mail a letter or have it delivered? Would there perchance be anyone to deliver the letter promptly?"

Number for Baron castle? Had he gone slightly insane? What on earth was he talking about? She shook her head and pressed her fingers to her head, trying to organize her thoughts and clear up the jumble that was in there right now. Nothing he was talking about made any sense. After all, she had no idea what a cell phone or a telephone was. After all, there was nothing like that in Baron. If you wanted to talk to someone, you had to go about it in the old fashioned way. Shaking her head, she stared at the young man with longish blonde hair and took a little sigh. Hopefully he stopped and took a breath long enough for her to explain to him that though she appreciated his efforts to try and explain, she still had no idea what he was talking about. What WAS he talking about? Electric currents? Signals? Instantly? That wasn't possible. Why the mere idea was ludicrous, and the look she was giving him was utter disbelief.

When he finally got done and took a breath, she shook her head and sighed a bit. "I'm sorry, but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about, or what you just described. We don't have anything like that in Baron." Looking at him sheepishly, she shrugged daintily before rubbing her fingers on her palm, feeling the glove that went over her fingers to protect them from the bowstring. "I'm not at all sure what exactly a telephone is either. I do apologize, but I cannot make heads or tails of what you're telling me. You say this form of communication is instant? That is not possible kind Sir. Do tell, have you hit your head anytime recently? Perhaps had a concussion?" She was giving him a worried look then. Hopefully he hadn't hit his head, but then again, it would explain his weird behavior and how he seemed to be most confused about how one communicated. Trying to tell her that you could do so without a letter.

Impossible.

She held herself straight and looked out over the balcony, before turning her gaze back toward him when he mentioned that it was alright, but that she didn't have to stay if she didn't so desire. Looking at his clothing, she realized that he was dressed in night attire and decided that she would not make him walk all over in his pajamas. "Sir, I realize you are in your night attire, and do not wish to make you leave the premises if its possible not to. If it is still alright, I would very gladly take up your offer for the couch." Nodding firmly, she stood up off the railing, before brushing off her clothes, adjusting her bow and arrows, and looking at him. "My name, by the way, is Rosa Joanna Farrell Harvey, please call me Rosa. May I ask your name kind sir?"

"Um....I don't believe anyone would be willing to carry a letter more than a mile or two this late at night, no," Trey admitted to the young woman, willing himself not to take any offense at her mention of him being "silly". The words of others mostly rolled off of his back anyway, and besides, the more Trey talked with this odd woman, the more he began to think that either her night had truly not been an easy one...or she had some sort of mental deficiency. If not for the slight headache starting to nag at his temples, he believed he would have felt more sorry for her than before. But it was the middle of the night, his stomach was still rumbling occasionally, and Trey was having to explain something so simple as a phone call to some strange woman whose boobs were distractingly on display for the world to see. He wasn't entirely sure what any of that proved, but they all seemed to be good excuses for something, he just couldn't decide what.

Witnessing her look of complete incredulity at everything he explained about the phone, Trey let out a breath of exasperation and had to fight the urge to rub his eyes. He remained silent for a few moments, knowing nothing else he could say to beat an understanding of the telephone into her head. Needless to say, for Trey, this came as an immensely helpless feeling that he could not remedy by simply continuing to attack her with facts and descriptions. One could only tell so much about a telephone before the explanation became useless and ludicrous. Trey had already reached that point. And what was worse, she seemed to think that he was the one who had hit his head. And while the irony of her mentioning a concussion was not lost on him, Trey found himself far beyond the point of appreciating that irony.

Trey was at a loss for words.

Left staring out into the middle distance, desperately trying to think up a way to remedy whatever ailment caused the woman's inability to understand him, Trey shook his head as the wind blew his hair forward into his eyes and was only a few seconds from walking all the way back to his room, grabbing his cell phone (with the chance of waking Ace and getting him prematurely involved with this, but damn if Trey didn't think he needed the younger student's help right about now), and coming back out here just to show the female that he had no concussion and no head injury of any kind and prove that she was the one speaking gibberish. But, admittedly, what good would that do? She obviously was in no state of mind to recall a telephone number, even if this "Baron" really existed (which he was beginning to doubt). Involving Ace also didn't seem to be his best course of action in this, either, but considering Trey had offered the woman to lodge in his dorm for tonight..

And she wasted no time in reminding him of that offer. Physically feeling as if he had to shove the frustrated madness from his mind, Trey stood and brushed off the back of his pajamas, regaining his composure (which had never actually gone anywhere). He stepped forward to lead the way back into the building. "My room's just down the hall.....", he told her, though his mind was focused on telling her something else. Trey supposed he should relent if she was so determined to send the damn letter. "I think a mailman still comes by here in the mornings.....you can send a letter with him if need be." He still wanted to wait for her to...sober up or whatever else she needed to do and try the cell phone on her, but he supposed his attempts to tell her that a letter would be completely unnecessary were all water under the bridge.

As they stepped back into the hallway, Trey suddenly remembered his little stash of food and bent over to pick it up off the floor. In all honesty, he wanted to delay bringing a possibly drunk, possibly delusional, borderline beautiful woman into his dorm, so he took his time picking up the bread and jar of spread. Hearing her introduce herself, Trey had the hardest time staying convinced that there was something wrong with her. She sounded perfectly in control. Nodding cordially to her as he stood back straight, Trey introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Rosa. Call me Trey." Then he stood there...awkwardly, before finally turning on a heel and continuing on down the hallway, turning the corner in the direction of the door and hoping Rosa would not yell anything else out while she was inside the building.

Strange night, please, please pass quickly.

Disappointment flashed across her pretty features when he told her that there would be no one willing to carry a letter during the night. Rosa was close to stating her rights as a queen and demanding that someone take it, or that he come with her to show her where to send off the letter. She would take it there herself if she had to. Except that she doubted they would be open either, if there was no one willing to even carry the letter for the short distance of a mile. Reminding herself of that, Rosa also reminded herself that she was not queen here, wherever here really was. He had told her the name, but that meant nothing to her. What she wanted to know was where it was in relation to Baron. Was it close at all? The things he was talking about...the...tell-a-foan, didn't exist, which worried her. Were they in some secret location, where they had more advancement then they had in Baron? And how had she gotten there so quickly? Another advancement perhaps?

Rosa was honest when she told him that she couldn't make heads or tails of what he was trying to tell her. An idea, so foreign to her, was not something she could accept on one mans telling, especially without seeing the device in use. If he had it with him, then perhaps she could believe what he was telling her. But the concept was nothing she had even tried to fathom, and was hard to understand. Still, she feared she might have upset him, because he was staring into the distance with a look of exasperation on his face. Maybe for him, she should try to understand, but when she did try, it hurt her brain. He had overloaded her with facts, and she didn't even remember what he had said, or anything except the concept he was trying to get across. You didn't need letters.

Still she clung to her need to believe that letters were the only way. It was the only thing familiar to her, and in a place where she was completely out of her element, having something familiar was comforting. Still, she had to ask him if he was alright, or if he had hit his head recently. She had thought it was a fair question, and the concern she had for him, thinking he had hurt his head, showed in her gentle eyes. He really shouldn't be up and moving had he hurt himself. "Sir? Have I upset you? I fear I have, but I'm concerned for you if you did indeed hit your head." She had laid a hand on his arm and was peering up at him as she asked him about it. He had suddenly closed up and stopped talking, which also worried her. Had she spoken out of turn? But no, she was Queen, Rosa didn't have to worry about speaking out of turn, except that she still thought of herself as just one of the people.

Rosa picked up her feet to follow him when he mentioned that his room was down the hall, nodding to tell him that she understood. The look of relief on her features was evident when he finally told her when her letter could be sent. He might have saved the effort of telling her about his tell-a-foan had he just told her when her letter could be delivered. "I do not like flaunting my title as Queen, but Sir, might my letter be delivered faster if I did tell them that I was Queen of Baron?" Rosa spoke that and followed him as he walked down the hallway, noticing his pause in stride to pick up some objects from the floor. Holding onto her bow and arrows tightly in her grip, Rosa ran a hand through her hair, trying to make it presentable.

Trey? A nice name, but he had no surname? Nothing else? Simply Trey? Then again, Rydia was like that, so she just nodded and smiled to him lightly in greeting. "Nice to meet you Sir Trey." Waiting for him to continue on, Rosa finally felt relief when he started walking again. Keeping closely on his heels, Rosa peered around them, curious as to their location. It was nice here, but the sooner her husband came for her, the sooner Rosa could be at ease again. She had relied on him for quite some time to make the important decisions, and now that he was gone, dealing with it herself was almost foreign. Yet she had a sharp mind and could easily adjust to having to make decisions, and had already done so in her mind. "I thank you so much, Sir Trey, for giving up your couch in order to accommodate me. When my husband comes for me, I would like to repay your kindness."

If only she wouldn't act like Trey was the one who was talking out of his mind, Trey could take the fact that she did not completely gather what he was saying. He'd never met anyone drunk who could speak so perfectly, and he had never actually met anyone high period, so he began to suspect her night of thrills had involved a little too much of a certain weed. He considered calling one of the school doctors to tend to her, since this was a bit beyond-

He forgot about everything, stopped cold and blinked as she placed her hand on his arm and looked up at him, all manner of concern shining from her eyes. He was surprised by the warmth of her touch...and she was a very attractive wo- ....Focus, Trey. Focus. He could not allow himself to get lured in, though he found himself unable to pull free from her. Letting out a breath as he tried to gather himself, he stood straight, finally prying his gaze away for a moment. "I....no, I'm fine, I assure you, but thank you...for the concern." He nodded awkwardly at the doorway, hoping she'd pull away once he recommended they go inside. "Let's...see about getting you inside and letting you rest. I'm sure you've had a frustrating night."

Whew, Trey wanted to say, as they stepped inside. He managed to keep his comments to himself, however, until he'd claimed his food once again and started leading her in the general direction of his dorm, taking what would be a semi-long way....but still, it would only take them a couple of minutes to get there. Then again, he could lead her- no, he couldn't lead around a poor, confused woman like that. He simply had to bite the bullet and hope this whole situation did not bring a quick end to Ace's short life. He was thinking on just how Ace would react when she asked if her being a "queen" would get the letter delivered faster. Trey could have just as easily laughed as he could have cried. Poor, delusional woman...he hoped he could help bring her back to sense by morning and have her on her way back home. "I doubt that will do any good, I'm sorry to say," he apologized, despite himself. "If anything, I could ask someone to run your letter by the post office or do it myself, but they're not open at this hour." Oh, yes, Trey, put yourself to even more trouble for this crazy woman who doesn't know what a telephone is. He sighed internally at himself. Even if "Sir Trey" had a nice ring to it, it still indicated just how far this woman had fallen from reality. People wondered why Trey never drank or harmed his body in any other way.

They arrived at the dorm, and Trey could practically see Ace's face on the other side of the door, wide-eyed and wondering why in hell Trey was bringing a half-naked, beautiful woman into his dorm in the middle of the night. Trey would need to have a long talk with his fellow blond after all of this was over. Trey began unlocking the door as she again mentioned a "couch". He supposed it was time to explain that situation. "I should tell you - we don't have the room in our dorm for a couch large enough to sleep on comfortably. I am asking you to take my bed for the night. I won't suffer from one night sleeping on the floor or in a chair, I promise you." Once he had said his peace, he gave her an almost-pleading look. He certainly did not want to start up another back-and-forth debate right here at the doorway, that much was certain. Slowly and reluctantly, Trey turned the handle and crept inside, holding the door open for Rosa to enter after him. He raised a finger almost to her mouth to ask her to keep the noise to a minimum.

Please, please, please, something convince her to keep quiet.

"I....no, I'm fine, I assure you, but thank you...for the concern."

Rosa lifted an eyebrow at his words. He really didn't seem okay. After all, he was acting somewhat odd. First with trying to convince her letters weren't needed, and then going on about a tell-a-foan, or whatever they were. Watching him with a gaze that didn't waver, she studied his features, wondering if he was really alright, or if he just didn't want to admit to a woman that he wasn't alright. Keeping her hand on his arm, she looked up at his tall frame, contemplating what to do. Should she make an issue of the subject and try to force him to tell her the truth? Or should she just let it slide? He didn't seem hurt outwardly...perhaps he just had a few screws loose in his head. Well if he did, he was a very nice man, and other then the rambling on about weird subjects, he seemed completely normal. So why was he continuing on with these subjects? He should stop the nonsense. Little did she know he was thinking the same of her.

"Let's...see about getting you inside and letting you rest. I'm sure you've had a frustrating night."

Rosa shook her head slightly, watching him closely. While observing him, it had almost seemed like he had lost his train of thought and had for a few moments, been completely distracted by something. Though her hand was on his arm, she couldn't think of any reason why he could be distracted. Perhaps he was thinking of something he had forgotten to do. She must apologize again, when she had the chance, for creating such problems for him. She had to remember to replay him when Cecil came to rescue her. And she knew. Knew her husband would not stand by and not come for her. He would come, it was only a matter of time. She just hoped that her stay here would not have to be long. Not that Trey wasn't a nice young man, but she was pregnant, and would rather her husband be by her side through that then anyone else. Besides that, she loved him, and staying away for to long would wear on her. "Alright Sir Trey, it has been frustrating."

Her hand came off his arm then as he stepped away. With a gentle little shrug, Rosa followed him, looking around them as they walked. It really was nice here. Perhaps not home, but it was very fancy. Were there royalty here as well? She wasn't sure where they were going really. Maybe she should be more worried about that. After all, she was being taken somewhere she didn't know, by a man she didn't know either. But she had a feeling he was alright, and normally she went with her gut instinct. He had been nothing but a gentleman, and besides that, Rosa knew how to take care of herself. She hadn't seen him with a weapon, but she still had her bow and arrows in her hand, if push came to shove, she could get them out, an arrow notched and ready in mere seconds. Plenty of time to see him put down. She may be queen, but she was first and foremost, the product of her parents. Rosa was as deadly with her bow as she was sweet in nature. But perhaps her title could help her in this situation.

"I doubt that will do any good, I'm sorry to say. If anything, I could ask someone to run your letter by the post office or do it myself, but they're not open at this hour."

"No no, I do not wish to inconvenience you anymore tonight Sir Trey. If you tell me where it is tomorrow, I'd be happy to mail it myself. I wish not to be a burden, and will do anything to help make my stay be less of an inconvenience. I could cook if you desired that. Or clean? Don't let my title fool you, I'm an excellent cook." Rosa was talking simply to make the walk less silent and awkward. It almost seemed as if instantly there was nothing to say. Yet she continued talking in order to make some sound. Keeping up with his long stride, Rosa peered to the side, looking at the decor around them with surprised eyes. It really was nice in here. Fit for a queen...just as a figure of speech.

"I should tell you - we don't have the room in our dorm for a couch large enough to sleep on comfortably. I am asking you to take my bed for the night. I won't suffer from one night sleeping on the floor or in a chair, I promise you."

As he unlocked the door and spoke, Rosa turned her aqua eyes on him. Instantly she started to shake her head. She would rather take the floor then have him put out over her. Really, she didn't mind sleeping on the floor. She'd slept in far worse conditions while trying to save Baron with Cecil, Kain and the rest of them. "No Sir-..." Yet, his pleading look got to her. Rosa turned her eyes downward a bit, her hand playing with part of her clothing. "Oh alright, but on one condition. You allow me to do something in return for your graciousness. If not right away, when my Cecil comes to rescue me. I need to repay you some how good Sir." Her voice had dropped to a whisper then as he turned the door handle and opened it. She understood the finger to the lips, and picking up her garments so they wouldn't rustle, Rosa crept inside behind him, wondering just why they were being quiet. Perhaps his wife was here? Well...if so, then how could he expect her to sleep on the floor as well? She would not allow that! Grabbing his arm with her hands, she leaned forward and quietly whispered into his ear. "Sir, if your wife is present, I refuse to allow you to force her to accompany you on the floor. I will take the ground outside before I will allow you to bring about her discomfort."

Rosa certainly made it clear she meant to inconvenience him in no way. Trey supposed that could be the reason why she had ended up here at the school in the first place. It was a sad thought, really - a woman out in the city or on the roads, deeply confused and out-of-sorts, with no one to help her until she arrived here at the school grounds. He felt sorry for getting annoyed, however slightly, by her inability to understand him. Had he been through the same things she had likely been through on this night, he figured his mind could have been just as muddled. Trey even felt a slight twinge of guilt at hoping the woman had sobered up by morning, as if he wanted to run her off. Of course, it was not for his sake that he wanted to let her rest, clear her mind, and start to make her way back home. It was for her sake, because some of the folks at the magic academy were not quite as...accomodating as Trey himself. He was thankful that his dormmate was one of the few. Ace would likely be fine with the arrangements....if he didn't have a small heart attack seeing such a....well, a....busty woman in his dorm with him...

Trying not to dwell on that description, the archer turned and shook his head slightly at the woman's offer to cook and clean, almost letting out a laugh. That would make the situation even worse, wouldn't it? Instead of merely offering a distressed woman his bed for the night, everyone in the school would be whispering about the lightly-dressed maid Trey had taken advantage of. Even thinking about it brought a redness to his cheeks that he tried to cast away by making more conversation, though he didn't turn to Rosa and betray his embarrassment. "No, you don't need to do anything like that," Trey responded, after clearing his throat. "Your staying here won't cause any trouble. You should rest." ...or it shouldn't if no one happens to lay eyes on you for the next ten hours, Trey added silently, in the back of his mind.

And hallelujah! Rosa made no argument in opposition to taking his bed! Trey felt a nervous sensation roll from his shoulders, knowing he had avoided quite a disaster had she tried to argue with him here on the hallway with all the dorms. He didn't oppose her offer to return his gratitude, merely nodding to her with a smile. Even if he didn't necessarily want anything in return (for several reasons - one of which being that he wasn't so sure about what he would receive from such a strange woman, or this mystery man who may not have existed, Cecil), Trey was not about to start another mini-debate here at his doorway. Instead he crept inside and let Rosa enter, able to notice her hesitation even though the room was nearly pitch black. He nearly jumped when he felt her grab ahold of his arm yet again...and this time breathed into his ear. He found himself quickly growing red again, trying to focus on what she was saying.

Oh. She thought he had a wife? "I...no...." He whispered, trying not to think about her face being so close to his....in the darkness....with her possibly drunk. "My roommate-" Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, a high-pitched, whistled snore came from Ace's side of the room, drawing Trey's gaze in the younger blond's direction. "-is asleep." Trey could not think straight enough to add anything, just nodding his head towards the bed that sat only a few feet away from the two of them. Trying to pry himself away ever-so-gingerly and step towards the bed, Trey placed the food in his arms on his nightstand (he frankly wasn't that hungry anymore) and produced one of the spare pillows from out of one of the chairs in the room. Trey took his own pillow and handed the newer one over to Rosa, prepared to stand by and let her settle into the bed before he tried to sprawl out on the floor.....mainly because he thought she might be confused about what a bed was, too. He couldn't be too cautious, a quiet whistle from Ace reminded him.

"No, you don't need to do anything like that, your staying here won't cause any trouble. You should rest."

Rosa eyed him up, wondering exactly why he was trying to convince her to stay inside so much. Was he one like Cecil was? Who claimed that women that were pregnant were extremely fragile and they were going to break? She hoped not, because if he was, then she was going to have to set him straight. Yes women should be cherished and protected, but they wouldn't break if something happened to them. She hated being completely babied. To a strong, courageous, stubborn woman, staying inside and laying around with nothing to do was just about the worst punishment she could think of. Still, she just shrugged off his words, not feeling she knew him well enough to make a judgment as to if he was being serious and thinking she would crumble, or honestly being concerned about her well being in terms of her sleep. She could sleep at any time, but she wanted to get this ball rolling as quickly as possible. As nice as he was, she had a husband waiting, and she would very much love to get back to him as soon as possible. Already she missed him terribly.

Speaking of Cecil...he was going to be very angry when he realized she was gone. Angry and worried. Probably more worried then angry. He didn't often get angry with her, if ever. Had he ever gotten angry with her? Perhaps annoyed, but never angry. So yes, that left worried. She hated to have him worry. It was probably one of the worst things, knowing someone else was worried. And she wanted to be by him. Always wanted that. She hated being separated, which was one topic they argued on. Or rather, disagreed on. She wanted to go everywhere with him, and he wanted her to be safe. Pretty hard to be safe and still be running around in some of the places he was. Still, though he insisted she stay behind, she insisted she come along. It came down to who was the more stubborn out of both of them. She usually won. Normally just because she refused to stay behind.

"I...no.... My roommate-...-is asleep."

Rosa had not been willing to allow his wife to suffer. Perhaps she was a bit to stubborn, but if he had told her that he did indeed have a wife, then she would have raised hell in order for him to keep his bed and stay there with her. She'd been all set to defend the wife until her last breath, her face set, eyes steady. Then he had told her that it was simply a roommate. Alright, so she could handle that. Had he told her indeed it was a wife, she would have just stood there and argued until he had given in. She had a stubborn streak in her that would not back down when she had something set in her head. Definitely this man wasn't going to win. Not only was he to nice, but he didn't know her, and was obviously to sweet to argue with her for long. Besides, she was determined.

But that was all better since it wasn't a wife. "...Alright Sir Trey, I will take your bed. Can you tell me where it is, and then instruct me to a wash room so I may freshen my appearances, rinse off my face, and then prepare to sleep?" Rosa smiled nicely at him, whispering out her requests. She really did want to wash her face, and just taking off some of her clothes would do to prepare for sleep. She couldn't very well keep her cape and shoulder pauldrons on while she slept could she? Standing there for a moment, she listened to the snoring that was going on in the other room. Finally she let go of his arm and followed him toward the bed. It seemed nice enough. Though as she had stated before, she didn't mind sleeping on any surface really. Lifting up her hands, Rosa lifted the pauldrons from her shoulders, which were now bare. Yawning, she stretched and sat on the bed for a moment, now that she was settled, not wanting to get back up to wash her face. "...Sir...Thank you, but the wash room isn't needed anymore, you may show it to me in the morning." Mumbling the last part, she undid her boots, placing them below the bed before unclipping her belt, which held her dagger in it and resting her bow there as well. Taking her hair out of the bun, she let it drop down and free, before placing the belt on the boots. She held the dagger, still in its sheath, in her hand and tucked it under her pillow, before rolling under the covers. All that could be seen now was the blonde hair spilling out from under the covers as she mumbled out a "Goodnight Sir Trey."

Seconds later she was asleep, her soft breathing filling the quiet room.
