Appearance Coulson's got that 'good-looking everyman' kind of thing going for him. A somewhat tanned fellow with short dark hair, dark eyes, and a dark scruff on his face, Cole looks like he belongs on a beach. He possesses quite sharp, purposeful features that end up making his expression more dashing than it really should be. Otherwise, there's not much else to say about him from the chin up.
He's not a really imposing guy, standing at a perfectly average height of five feet eleven inches (he claims he's six feet tall, however, not that it matters) and with just enough of a build to look like your average tennis player. He's somewhat solid and built, but looks more like an athlete than a bodybuilder. Usually, he keeps to a rugged look. You'll see him with a plain old shirt most of the time, plus occasionally a jacket. He always wears some simple, heavy pants, and usually some durable shoes. He likes to travel light, carrying only what he needs at a certain time, which typically includes necessary equipment and extra ammo.
Personality: Zeke's one of those guys you love to hate. He's unnervingly charming, skilled with sarcasm and dry comments, and just quick-minded enough to infuriate most anyone. He reacts to pretty much everything with the most oddly-timed comments he can come up with. Whether he's getting shot at, insulted, slapped in the face......he can pretty much be a somewhat like-able smart-ass for any of it. That's not to say he doesn't get pissed off every now and then- he can get a srs face on when he needs to, and really doesn't take well to such fun activities as betrayal or abuse of power. He also has a great passion for his hunting, and though he may crack some wise all the while he's on the trail of some priceless artifact, his eyes are still on the prize.
Those often in contact with him have learned to put up with him fairly well. He's generally liked among his companions, even if he gets on their nerves from time to time. Charming as he may be, he's not the type to make a pass at every woman he meets.......he doesn't trust too many women, for that matter. Still, he's relatively friendly to most anyone that's not shooting at him, so he picks up interest every now and again. He basically treats everyone like a friend until he has a reason not to, and this has occasionally gotten him into trouble. Hence the not trusting women thing.
Morally, he's also not too difficult. Cole's got a good heart, but he doesn't always listen to it. He's the type to save someone from the proverbial burning building, yeah, but he also doesn't have any problems with shooting someone that's shooting at him.......and killing that person. He's also a little selfish from time to time.......not at the expense of someone else's health, but possibly their time or their money. Really, he'll do the right thing more often than not when it really counts. When it doesn't........oh well, he won't feel all that guilty about it. There's a heroic side when it comes to friends or innocent people dying, but he likes to seem like the kind of indifferent neutral who doesn't really care either way. People ain't buying that routine, though, and he has a good reputation.
History: The son of a Nabradian officer and his noble wife, a relative of the royal family by marriage, Coulson was always filled to the brim with tales of war and tales of peace that his father believed would bring his son to appreciate the military arts. And, in fact, Cole (as he came to be known amongst his friends) would develop quite an interest in history. He'd had it 'up to here', as they say, with his father's expectations for his military career however; he decided long before he came of age that despite his father's wishes and the rearing he received that he would be anything at all but a military man. When he grew into his late teens (after receiving his education and before he would be recruited into the army), he revealed this to his father. They wouldn't speak for roughly four years after this. Cole began a career that he'd learned he had a passion for when exploring with his friends in his youth - he became something of an archaeologist, as he preferred to call himself. In reality, though, he developed simply into a maverick fortune seeker who happened to specialize in treasure.
It was not long before the destruction of Nabradia's capital that Coulson would consider returning to his home, now carrying something of an equal parts good and bad reputation from his fortune-seeking. He would not arrive, however, before the seat of Nabradia was destroyed. His mother would be killed in the attack, while his father, stationed outside of the city, would survive. His sister had been on a trip to Rabanastre at the time. Cole would not be able to see his father afterwards - he was told he had gone mad in the aftermath of the attack and destruction and was in no shape to meet with anyone. Cole reluctantly left Nabradia for what would seemingly be the last time, as Rasler was killed at Nalbina fortress and his home country was annexed. After reuniting with his sister and putting what ties he had to royal blood behind him, he would associate himself with a pocket of the Resistance.
After the death of Vayne Solidor and the end of the war, Coulson returned to business as usual. He still sees his sister, who is following in his footsteps, with regularity, but he hasn't seen his father since the attack on Nabradia, thinking him to have settled somewhere far-off in some former Nabradian city that has recently been liberated from Archadian control.
Abilities:
- Problem-Solving/Adaptability/Photographic Memory: Though he buries the fact that's he's highly intelligent under a facade of gutty stupidity, Coulson is the king of guy who can remember anything he's seen or read almost instantly, and who can utilize all that knowledge, plus a little creativity, in order to pull his ass out of ridiculous situations. This is exactly what makes him such a good treasure hunter - he knows how to figure out ancient clues due to his memory of details and general ability to put two and two together, and he's also crafty enough to get himself out of a bad spot just through a combination of brawn and luck that's pulled together by his brain. Overall, he's not the rocket scientist guy, but his functional intelligence is as high as anyone's.
- Decent Marksman: Cole is no marksman, but when he's got a gun in his hand he can usually shoot someone with it from a reasonable range. He's definitely not going to shoot himself or someone on his side. He may not always hit who he's shooting at, but he's a pretty solid threat from medium and close range with any gun.
- Athletisicm: A treasure hunter has to be able to climb through all those narrow labyrinths, right? Coulson can climb with the best of them, is surprisingly strong for his size, and can outrun anyone who isn't a track star.
Summons: None
Magic:
- Haste
- Confuse
- Blind
Strengths:
- Creative
- Sociable and easy-going
- Borderline golden-hearted
Weaknesses:
- Annoying and a bit brash
- Uncaring of legal boundaries
- Reckless as all get-out
Weapon Flintlock Pistols: Coulson carries at least one three-shot flintlock pistol on his person at all times. Oftentimes, he has two such weapons. The pistols are fairly straightforward weapons that are only especially effective at a relatively short range. While the pistols are his mainstays, he's the type to grab a weapon off a dead body if he needs to, so he can really be seen with any weapon (whether or not he knows how to use said weapon well).
Crushes: Crush is a strong word.
