No portals had appeared lately, things were getting so dull around here in Fynn. Maria sighed to herself as she gazed around the outskirts of town with a bored look on her face, her bow in her hand as she stalked around the edge of the city, looking for anything to do. Taking her stride slowly, she moved off the path that lead from Fynn to the next town and started wandering across the grass leading towards a nearby group of apple trees. Gazing up at the leaves and ripe fruit that hung off the branches, she shook her head and went to sit in the shade, maybe day dream a little, it’d at least kill a bit of time since she seemed to be all alone these days. Setting her bow on the ground as she eased herself to the ground, flipping her violet hair over her shoulder as she snuggled onto the ground, folding her arms behind her head, she closed her eyes, feeling the warmth from the sun but still being in the shade for the most part. It was relaxing, and if she wasn’t careful, she’d fall asleep out here.
With a deep sigh escaping her lips, she kept her eyes closed, her mind open and wandering, she wondered where Leon had ran off to this time. Though he’d told her time and time again not to come for him, there was just something deep within the archer’s stomach and mind that told her to go after her brother. Family wasn’t supposed to abandon one another, and she felt strongly about that, how she’d let him go the first time was unexplainable, she was surprised Firion hadn’t gone out on his own to go find him, and wherever Guy was, he was obviously not doing anything all that worthwhile, but hey…that was Guy for you. Shrugging her shoulders in response to the thoughts rolling through her mind, she pulled one leg up, propping it on her knee and twisting her ankle around, obviously too bored with herself to know what to do, too bored to go searching, to go shopping, or to even have target practice. Today was just a lazy day, a day where she wanted to do something, but was too lazy to do anything.
With a boop on her head, Maria sat straight up, feeling an apple from the tree above her sight roll into her lap. Picking up the apple with one hand and rubbing her forehead with the other – not that it hurt all that much – Maria frowned before she leaped up to her feet, grabbing her bow in the process. Pulling her hand down before tossing the apple up as high as she could, she adjusted her bow in her hand, grabbing an arrow and testing her speed as she took a step back, aimed her bow and arrow with one eye shut and let the arrow fly, slicing into the apple cleanly and perfectly. A look of satisfaction crossed the archer’s face as she apple fell from the sky after having gotten shot and landed in her hand. Pulling the arrow out, she pulled the fruit to her lips and took a bite, twirling the arrow and sticking it back in her quiver. That had been a bit of fun target practice, and it went to show how quick and swift she could be with great accuracy as well, no one would dare face her archery skills.
“Fun, but…what’s fun if there’s no one around?!” She bellowed into the air out of frustration, clutching her bow and the apple tightly in her hands before she kicked her foot around, scuffing some of the grass there. That was it, she was going after Leon, even if she didn’t find him, at least the journey would give her something to do, right? No one would miss her with how busy they were anyways. Hopefully her brother just didn’t show up while she was away, otherwise…heh…heh….a good older brotherly scolding would come her way one day. “Well, Leon’s not here now, so there isn’t anything he can do about it.” She smiled to herself, tossing the apple core behind her and twirling her bow carefully around her hand, adjusting it around her body as she started back towards the trail, ready to head anywhere and everywhere. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 822 Muse: Great! Lying in the bed, Leon propped his head on his arms, staring up at the ceiling above him. It had been a few days since he had helped out Warrior to find his friend, the goddess Cosmos. Well...it was almost a week and a half since then. Had it really been that long? Leon hadn't been doing much of anything. No, he had rented out a room for the entire week and a half, coming and going from the city of Fynn. All the while, batting around the possibility of going to see his sister and brother. Every time he had determined that he would, Leon backed out of the idea, telling himself that he needed more time. More time...more time...how much time did he need? How much time would he waste with excuses before he could get up the nerve to face them again?
Back then, so long before, when Queen Hilda had offered him a place in the ranks, along with Firion, he had refused, telling Maria and Firion that too much had gone on between them for him to come back. In his heart, even then, he had known that some day he would come back. He hadn't been sure back then, just when it was that he would, but someday, when he had found his redemption. Had...had he found it yet, though? How did one make up for past sins? Leon wasn't sure if he even knew where to go from here. He had started, that much was for certain, but how much more did he have to do to have gained redemption? They would take him back, but even now he didn't feel as if he deserved it. But...he hadn't lapsed in the entire time since he had helped the Warrior out. So could he go back now?
'No, you have things to do first.' Why did that disappoint him so badly? Sighing, Leon lifted his legs off the bed and twisted until he was sitting on the edge. Pushing himself up, Leon walked to the small dresser, opened the door and pulled out a white shirt. Looking at it for a moment, Leon slipped it over his head and then walked toward where his armor lay. Picking it up, he settled it over his head, strapping his sheath on for his sword. Strapping it on, he settled it until it was comfortable and then fondled the handle of his sword. Standing there, relaxed, Leon whirled around, his sword suddenly in his fingers. Just as quickly he sheathed it, jerking open the door and walking out as suddenly as he had pulled the sword from its sheath.
Just as quickly he found himself leaving town. He wasn't sure where he was going, but he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. He needed...he needed to get away from Fynn. Yes, it was this city. His 'home', where his siblings were, it was going to drive him crazy. He had gotten quite a ways from the city, but he doubled back, choosing to go through the forest to get there sooner. Striding out, Leon wondered where he should go to next. ...Perhaps 'run' was a better word. Where should he run to next? After all, that was all he did, he thought angrily. He ran.
When would he stop running?
The next instant was when he would. He heard the bellow as he came up the path, head snapping up. Maria... she was here. 'Oh damn it,', he thought to himself. He didn't know which way the shout had come from exactly, and so he turned south and started to jog that way. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, he rounded a bend and ended running smack dab -almost literally - into his sister. Well.....nowhere to run now.

The idea of traveling across…everywhere, it sounded nice, dangerous and far more exciting than things were right now. Everything was far too quiet for Maria’s liking, if even trudging into danger was what she needed for entertainment, then so be it. Along the way she hoped to find Leon, even though that would come with an automatic scolding, but who the hell cared! Maria was an adult and could easily take care of herself…unless she got ambushed with a million enemies, then it might’ve been a tough journey, but with as quiet things had been lately, she wasn’t sure that there would be much trouble, especially if she stuck to the paths between towns. Besides! She wasn’t just an archer for giggles, she had great skill, superb aim and accuracy it was almost scarily good. It made her happy to have such a skill, but that didn’t stop the men in her life, whether they were family or not, for worrying about her. Whatever, she needed to get them to stop worrying someday…highly unlikely though.
After her little apple-shooting bit, Maria decided it was time to hit the road if she was going to get anywhere by the end of daylight. As she started out, speaking and just being by herself – since that’s what she assumed she was – and didn’t expect to move through the woods to be nearly stampeded over by a familiar figure. Blinking for a second and taking a step back, Maria had to decide whether she was going crazy or not. It was as if the very person she was going to go looking for just appeared before her eyes. This was nothing more than a coincidence, right? Blinking a few more times, Maria almost wanted to reach out and try to see if Leon was even real, but judging by his comment, it was definitely him. He had that tone to him, Maria was sure he hadn’t wanted to be found, but tough luck, here she was, staring at him and still remaining silent, unable to figure out what was going on. Maybe she’d fallen asleep under those apple trees, maybe this was all a figment of her imagination…perhaps one or the other, or maybe life would be kind and make this reality?
Maybe.
Registering the words her brother spoke only a few short moments ago, Maria’s face lit up, but not of happiness, more of shock at the way she took the comment. Eyebrows raised, a distinct frown on her face as she then glanced from her brother down at her stomach. Did he just call her a calf? A calf was a cow…so that meant…she was being such a girl right now. “Did you just call me a cow?” Frowning slightly, she looked back up at Leon and placed one of her hands on her hip and let one eyebrow raise. “I sure hope that wasn’t a comment about my weight.” She warned before letting her features soften somewhat, at least the entertainment came to her, and hopefully things would run smoother than they had before, maybe Leon had found some sort of resolution to the problems he had within his mind and the darkness that kept taking over. "How are you, Leon? What brings you to Fynn? Or….at least the surrounding lands just outside the city?” she asked, folding her hands together and giving him a sincere look, but not wanting to start attacking him with a love fest or anything, keeping things simple for him would be best…after all, he didn’t want to be found, of that she was sure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 697 Muse: Great! Nowhere to run.
Maybe that was a good thing. Leon had been running for years now. So long it was almost as if there wasn't a period in his life where he hadn't been running. Ever since his parents had been killed. Ever since then, if he was honest with himself, he would admit he had been fleeing his past. Despite that, he had shouldered the responsibility of caring for Maria. What else was there to do but that? He had been forced to grow up when he had faced that, but along the way he had gotten lost in the realm of darkness. Now he was struggling to get a life back, struggling every day. He was getting there. Being with Warrior of Light had helped, but he had once again slipped back into that thinking. That he might never again be worthy. And so here he was, running yet again. Would it ever stop?
Seeing his sister there brought back much of why he was actually fighting. He wanted all of this back. He wanted to walk up and hug her without having a constant fear that he might somehow harm her. He wanted to stand toe to toe with Firion and be able to know that he had his respect fully once again. Was he ashamed? Yes. He could admit it. Too much had happened between them to be able to go back just yet.
And then she spoke back. Blinking, Leon furrowed his brow. He was a man, so he didn't, and never had, understood women's way of thinking. They had this way of twisting everything you said to fit whatever it was that they were thinking. As she was here. Glancing at her body, Leon knew there was no possible way to say that she was fat. Still, he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that. Call it a sibling relationship if you would. "You can take that however you want to Sis," he mentioned with a smile on his lips that he managed to muster. He hadn't been a brother that mercilessly teased his sister, but he did fine enjoyment from it at times. Opportunity knocked and you took it. That was how he felt anyway.
But things quickly sobered. Taking in a breath as she asked him what he was doing, Leon watched her with calm eyes. This was why he hated seeing them. Though they did a great job at not pressuring him intentionally, he always felt it. He hated to disappoint her, and he knew he was, even if she didn't admit it. Turning his gaze to the side when she asked what he was doing there, Leon wished he could give her the answer she was looking for. "I was helping a man.", he started quietly. "He'd lost his woman," he added to what he originally spoke. "I thought that if anyone would know where she was, it would be the gossips of Fynn." It was true. Leon was sure that they loved them some gossip. A beautiful blonde would sure get their fix of that. "And on my way back to the caves where I've come from, I met this bawling calf on the roadside." He fully expected to be slapped upside the head for that comment.

It was as if a miracle had been bestowed on the archer. Here she was out in the outskirts of Fynn, ready to go marching off in search of her brother, Leon, and here he had just happened to show up. How creepy…or convenient, whichever of the two works best. As she looked towards her brother with somewhat of a cheerful look – though she didn’t want to go overboard, all she needed to remember was that he probably wasn’t here to stay, it was getting easy to tell whether he was intending on staying or going these days – she gave him a small sincere smile and didn’t act too excited, just a little pleased. The less pressure she put on his shoulders, the better off he’d be. She was definitely taking his well being into consideration here, and that was what a brother and sister did for one another…when they weren’t bickering up a storm though.
Feeling her eyebrows furrow slightly, her eyes narrowed on Leon for a moment after the cow comment. Shifting her hands to her hips, she gave him a stern look and simply shook her head, not wanting to drag that on and simply just…let it fly by. After all, he would never call her a cow and be mean about it, right? They were siblings, a few jabs here and there were definitely normal, but now was the time to let it go, hm? Simply shaking her head and shifting her stance back to that of a relaxed one, she pulled her smile back to her lips, thought it was faint, it was there. There was no need to get all excited and attack him with her pleads to stay within town, she knew better than anyone that those words never worked well, all she could do was leave Leon to his own decisions. If he wanted to stay, then he was more than welcome, if he was just hanging around and getting ready to wander off again to wherever it was he went these days, then she wished him a nice trip. Supportive, that’s what Maria was.
Listening to Leon’s explanation as to why he was here, Maria nodded occasionally. Someone had lost their woman and Leon had offered to help? That was a start in the right direction, at least in the archer’s mind it was. She wanted to nod and smile approvingly, but instead simply listened. Though it was never the answer she wanted to hear – something along the lines of him finally figuring himself out in terms of light and darkness and wanting to return home – but she was glad that he was doing something nice for another being, it was enough to satisfy her for now. “Hey!” she whined a moment, clenching her fits and letting a frown form on her lips. More cow comments of course, that sure was Leon, going to pick on his little sister. With a huff, Maria straightened herself up, putting a calm tone to her voice now. “Just out of curiosity, was there success behind the journey here? Did this man find his lady?” she asked, tilting her head a bit, tapping a finger at her chin trying to think of any new faces she’d seen within the city, and none really came to mind. “I can honestly say I haven’t seen anyone new lately so…” she shrugged her shoulders and pulled her arms to cross over her chest.
Rocking back on her heels slightly, Maria let her eyes flicker around for only a brief moment before looking back at Leon. “I’m not keeping you from anything am I? I mean, if you have someplace to be, I don’t want to get in your way.” She admitted honestly, showing that she was able to let him go without complaints, it’d been a tough process but she couldn’t constantly cling to those she loved. If he wanted to stay, then he would, if he didn’t, she’d accept that, just as she always did…with better reactions each time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 780 Muse: Great! Leon glanced over at his sister when she exclaimed in disgust over his words. When he saw her reaction, a smile tugged at his lips, eyes showing off his amusement. What was an older brother good for, if not to torment his sister a bit about being a cow? He remembered the easy relationship they had used to have, back when their parents were alive and he hadn’t felt responsible for her in every way. They had confided in one another, and he had vowed to protect her with his life. A lot had changed since then, but Leon still yearned for those easy days, when they had been able to laugh at things and not have to worry about things like…being controlled by emperors. That would be a lovely moment in their lives, when they could get back to that point and he could feel no worry around her. Only then would he be himself again.
Quickly they got into more serious talk though, as he explained about the man that he had helped. Leon still wasn’t quite sure if he could ever become like that man, but he had given him the confidence once again that he would indeed be able to carry on his life and be able to combat the darkness. Or would he have to combat it? He still had that thought that all he needed to do, was not destroy the darkness, but learn to control it, to wield it as easily as he did his sword or axe. But back to the question at hand. Shaking his head slightly, Leon shifted his weight between his feet and crossed his arms over his broad chest. His movements still caused some discomfort in his side, but the pain was receding every day, soon it would be completely healed and he wouldn’t have to worry about how it felt. “We didn’t find her, no, however, we found a clue as to her whereabouts, which led us to one of those gateways to other worlds that seem to be popping up all around the planet. We parted ways when he went through the gateway.”, he finished calmly, though he glanced away from her as he said it.
Her asking if he had somewhere to be didn’t’ mislead him. No, Leon could guess just what exactly she meant. It wasn’t that he had a pressing matter at hand, but that she wasn’t going to force him to stay if he didn’t want to. He felt a love for his sister swell in his chest. She wasn’t going to beg and plead for him to stay, even if she wanted to. He had been firm the last time she had mentioned it, but was glad that she wasn’t pushing it right now. He knew what he had to do, but the matter of getting there was a harder thing to do then it was to say. Still, now that he had found his sister, he felt that he didn’t actually want to leave her. Hell, her being so supportive tore at his heart. “No, I have nowhere I need to be right away,” he mentioned casually, though there was, like with what she said, more meaning behind that then just the normal.
Sighing slightly, Leon ran a hand through his dark blue/black hair. “The man that I helped…I’m sad to say that I couldn’t find his woman for him, but he helped me to realize something…” It was time to reveal to her what he was thinking and feeling. She had been patient for long enough with him, had she not? She hadn’t pushed him, hadn’t forced him, but had always been ready to welcome him back with open arms. His being able to help someone, and really feel the light that radiated from him had helped him to see. Helped him to see just what and why…why he needed to do what he did. He would wrestled the darkness down and learn to control it, even if it killed him in the process. And then, after he had learned to control it, then he would come back. And he was already well on his way in learning to control it. So soon…soon he could have his family back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 915 Muse:; Good! Despite the fact that Leon was picking on Maria ever so slightly, she was very pleased to see him alive and well. All she had to remember to do was not pressure him into anything, not even mention him staying or whatnot. Whatever he wanted to do was his choice, not hers, no matter how much his choices hurt her. If he wanted to run away, then she wished him nothing but the best of luck, if he wanted to stay, she would welcome him home with open arms. The choice was ultimately his, and Maria knew that very well, letting go surely was a hard thing to do…but so far she’d been doing fairly well with coping, it was still painful to know that you didn’t have much family left, and what little family you did have…simply ran away to be away from you. That was never a comforting thought for the archer. It made her sigh, but internally, on the outside she wasn’t going to show any discomfort, she wanted Leon to be happy…however that was to happen.
Nodding her head slightly, listening to him speak of the man, the warrior guy and the woman he was seeking, Maria simply tried to think back and try to remember if there was anything she’d heard around town about some new face. Nothing came to her mind unfortunately. “That’s too bad, I’m sure he’ll find her though, if he seems that persistent.” She said with a small shrug, keeping the subject change at a fair minimum. Leaping from topic to topic seemed as if you were rushing someone, or trying to catch up before they left, all she could do was sit back, remain calm and hope that Leon didn’t have anywhere to dash off to like usual. With a half hearted smile towards her brother, she had to ask if there was anywhere he needed to be, she wasn’t going to step in his way anymore, anytime she did that…bad results became of it, clinging too tight tended to do that to someone, and finally she’d learned to simply let go. She had her friends here at least to keep her company, a few local vendors and citizens. Firion, Guy…all of them, they were pleasant to have around of course, but no one could replace her brother…someone who picked on her and was there for her through all of their years growing up together.
“Well then, that makes me feel a little better. I wouldn’t want to keep you from something, I know…busy you can be sometimes. So little time to take care of other things you know?” she said with a small shrug, letting her eyes move from the face of her brother towards the surroundings. It was all nice and nature-filled out here, rather than city-like back in Fynn. There were no buildings, no marketplace, no vendors wanting to see you something on every street corner…it was nice, less pressure, and less people looming over your shoulders. Perhaps a relaxing conversation could be had, no tension, no stress whatsoever. Hell, if that could be accomplished, even Maria would be as happy as can be, even if in the end Leon did leave.
Perking up a bit and putting her attention back on Leon, Maria listened carefully as he spoke, nearly trailing off and leaving her wondering what it was he was saying. With her arms still folded across her chest, she tilted her head a bit and let her eyebrows furrow a bit on confusion. “What did you realize, Leon?” she asked so bluntly, silencing herself after that, letting him speak about whatever it was, if he even wanted to talk about, but seeing as he brought it up anyways, you’d think he’d want to talk about it. Besides, he obviously wasn’t going anywhere, maybe he just wanted a casual conversation just as she was…or maybe he was going to get her all serious and ready to listen…and then leave her hanging. Damn him if that were the case. Oh well, at least he was here and not running…Maria was tired…sick and tired of nothing but running. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 819 Muse: Great! Leon really did wish that he could simply wrap his arms around his sister and tell her that everything was over. He was tired of all this crap, tired of having to move to place to place, never knowing what the future might bring or even what to expect in every given situation. Was he really getting that old or something? It was a disturbing thought; that he might be old at the age of twenty two. Though he didn’t feel physically old, Leon sometimes did feel as if he had aged a few hundred years in just a few years. It wasn’t a comforting thought, but what was in this world? Leon was used to disappointments and things not working out, as they all probably were. After all, when he had been a young lad, he had thought that his parents would be alive forever. But how quickly that had crumbled around his feet. After that, he had been slightly lost, not sure what he was supposed to do, but thrown into being an adult all the same. It had been hard on him, but when he looked at his sister, who he felt he had practically raised at times, he had no regrets of sticking beside her.
Later on in life, he couldn’t say the same with.
Shutting that thought out, Leon turned to his sister and offered her a smile at how much effort she was putting into keeping things light between them. He knew it had to kill her not to ask if he would stay this time. How miserable of a brother was he…no sister should have to beg her own brother to stay around and be with her. No sister, except Maria. In his desire to gain redemption, he had been selfishly not thinking of Maria or her desires or needs. She needed her family, just as he needed the same. She needed him, just as he needed her. They were siblings, and no matter what, Leon would love her deeply. He was also proud of her that she could hold onto her emotions and try so hard to not make him think that she was worried about him.
Reaching forward, he laid a hand on her arm and looked into her eyes. “It’s okay, Maria, to talk about it.”, he said calmly. That was the honest truth, though he had never wanted to open up about his past. Lately though…lately he felt as if he could do what it was that she had been telling him he could all along. Leon wasn’t sure if he would be able to do it right away, but he could try, and he was trying. Warrior of Light might have thought that he wasn’t helping much, but just his steady influence over the days he had been with him, Leon had learned much.
He had learned that he could work through his. Instantly he knew that he had gained her attention by her reaction. Shrugging, Leon took her arm and motioned to the tree that he had passed only minutes before. A large tree, with apples starting to form. “Come on,” he said calmly, starting to lead her to the tree. Leon was weary, his injury still bothered him, and in order to have this talk, he would rather be sitting. While they walked, he remained silent, letting her own curiosity stew, as he knew it would be.
When they finally got to the tree, Leon dropped her arm, pulled his sword from its sheath, and then sat on the ground lightly. Laying the sword next to him, he propped an arm on his knee and then glanced at his sister. “He made me realize that I’ve been running when I should stand my ground,” he started, looking away to glance off into the distance. “I realized that I’ve been selfish all of these years, when I should have been watching out for you.” Pausing a few more seconds, he blew out a breath, talking difficult for him. “And I realized that I’m a fool who should have been listening to his sister sooner.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 886 Muse:; Good! This was all so different. Maria did her best to keep her emotions calm, cool and collected, and thus far she was doing fairly well. She wasn’t pressuring Leon, in fact, she was acting as if nothing was happening…nothing had happened…very nonchalant. She wanted nothing more than for Leon to be happy, and her pressuring him would hardly make him happy. At least she was trying, he had to give her that much credit, and feeling the hand on her arm…that just assured her that he did appreciate what it was she was trying to do. Was it really okay to talk about it? To talk about everything that had happened? Maria still wanted to shy away from the subject, she didn’t want to risk anything…she didn’t want to drive Leon away like she always seemed to do. It was a mistake that she didn’t want to repeat again, he didn’t deserve that kind of pressure…it would just pain them both in the long end.
When he had spoken of learning something, Maria instantly became curious. She looked towards her brother, curiosity in her eyes before he led her towards a tree. Boy was he building up the suspense in her mind. What had he learned?! Was it good? Bad? In the middle? Or completely irrelevant? Or was he just toying with her? Boy if he was just playing some sort of joke, Maria was going to smack him upside the head. Sitting down and putting her bow at her side as well as her quiver, Maria then crossed her legs and folded her hands in her lap, looking towards her brother, still curious, but remaining silent…she wasn’t going to pry, or push…or pressure…no matter how much she wanted to know what it was he had learned. She wanted what was best for Leon, and if that meant not knowing a damn thing about him anymore…then so be it. All she could do was give him a small smile as she waited.
Leon started to speak, he had Maria’s undivided attention. His words didn’t exactly get to her just yet. He’d been running, she’d said that many times…he needed to look out for her, Maria was sure she had mentioned that once upon a time as well…but the last bit made her emotionally explode. She felt a bit of water well in her eyes as her smile widened. Of course she was right! This was Maria we’re talking about. Letting out a breath, she then blinked, trying to force back the happiness that was forming in her eyes. She’d waited so long to hear something like this from Leon…and now that he’d finally said something…she was just…falling to bits and pieces. “Leon…you really mean that?” she said with a small crack in her voice. A smirk formed on her lips as she leaped to her feet and pointed towards Leon. “Ha! This just goes to show that I was right! I’m always right, Leon! When will you ever learn!” she boasted with confidence before she dropped back down towards the ground and putting her arms around her brother. She was just…too dang happy to resist!
For the first time in a long time, she felt a warmth well up in her chest. Could she actually ask the question that was lingering on the tip of her tongue? “Does this mean…you’re coming home?” she asked before pulling away from her hug and sitting back onto the grass, folding her hands into her lap again as she waited with a hopeful look on her face. She’d told herself she wasn’t going to pressure him, but with what she was hearing…it just felt like he was going to come home…or at least attempt it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 739 Muse: Great! So he still wasn’t exactly anywhere near a saint…but hell, who could blame him for that? All he knew was that he was sick and tired of running from this damned darkness. No, he might never be able to completely be rid of it like the Warrior of Light seemed to be able to, and urged him. No…that didn’t seem to be possible, at least anytime soon. Leon wasn’t sure he even wanted to destroy the darkness within him completely. After all, he drew quite a bit of power from the darkness…the problem was that he had allowed it to manipulate him thus far. Would he be able to completely manipulate the darkness to bend to him instead of the other way around? Yes…he would be able to! He could wield the darkness, use it to his advantage and still walk the straight and narrow path. He knew he could, it was just a matter of forcing that darkness into productivity. Hell…he could do that, if only he had the determination. Warrior had given him that motivation, the push that he’d needed to realize just how stupid he had been.
He found that admitting that however, especially to Maria of all people, was a lot harder than he had thought it would be. Firion might have been easier, since he knew that Firion wasn’t about to get all emotional or cry on him or anything like that. No doubt they could shake on it, perhaps embrace, and Leon could feel like a man…but he doubted that would be the case here. No, Maria meant well, he knew that she did, but he was embarrassed about his previous attitude and actions. But there was nothing he could do about the past now, except to move forward so that the past would be able to remain there. He would try as best he could to see to that…perhaps it might be a challenge-…but he could do it. He knew he could.
And so he confessed. Leon managed to look over toward his sister when he mentioned that he had been a fool not to realize and to say something to her before now. His actions hadn’t been much for brotherly affection…how had he been so stupid? For a moment he paused and waited for her reaction, watching her through dark blue eyes. Hell…he was waiting for what? Perhaps for her to-…do something. Yeah, that was definitely what he was waiting for. He didn’t blame her for not knowing whether to believe him, and so he nodded to show that he meant what he said. “Yes Maria, I mean it.” The next moment his eyes were following her movement as she leapt to her feet and pointed her finger down at him.
Just like a little sister…pointing her finger and telling him that she had told him so. Well…so she had, so he couldn’t quite challenge her-…okay forget that. “I wouldn’t say always right…” Of course he was teasing…well…maybe not completely teasing. Someone had to keep her humble as she tried to do for him, right? The next moment she was there hugging him. Leon was shocked for a second, before his arms slowly came up to clasp around her, tightly hugging her to him. This felt so damned good…hell, he had missed this so much in the past years. He had been empty…without family, what was he? Nothing but a wandering soul, looking for redemption. He was relieved that he had come to this decision, and finally nodded his head slowly up and down. “Do you think Firion minds sharing?”, he asked with a little smile. He wondered how many other questions she wanted to know. Probably a lot, judging by the look she had on her face. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 836 Muse:; Good!
