Kylie didn’t know what she should be feeling right now. She had been told of what had happened to Cissnei and Reno, but she had been on the opposite side of the country when that had happened, on a mission that she couldn’t simply abort. She had completed it in record time, however, and had returned to ShinRa in record time, demanding some answers. It was only then that she learned the full story. When she had, the anger she had felt over not being able to get there right away had instantly cleared. Damn, but poor Reno. Poor, poor Reno. Kylie didn’t think she would ever really say those words, but she was sure saying them now. To have found the woman you actually wanted to commit to, and then-…
She couldn’t think about it. But she had heard that Reno was apparently back in their apartment, so that was where she was going to start. She had even changed out of her Turk uniform, and was now striding across town, dead on her feet from lack of sleep. She had practically killed herself getting back from her mission to learn about Cissnei and Reno, and the child. Cissnei had been apparently sent into an early labor, and had given birth. Kylie didn’t know what the childs name was, what gender or if it was healthy. No, she had been so concerned she had walked out on Tseng telling her about it and had started toward where she might be able to help. Along the way she felt herself swaying with her need for rest. Still, she pushed herself. She wasn’t going to rest her head until she learned of what had really happened. She just…she just, this whole mess. The damned Fal’cie needed to be taken down a notch, that was for sure. She wasn’t sure who was going to do it, but someone had to! She was going to take them down herself if nothing could be done about them. She made that vow right at that moment. Yeah foreshadowing about how she meets up with Celes?
And then she was in the apartment building. Clearing her throat, Kylie walked down the hallway until she came to the apartment that she had been in before. Reno and Cissnei’s place to live. Raising her fist, she quietly rapped on the door, hoping that she wouldn’t wake the babe. The child of her family members. Kylie couldn’t believe that Cissnei wasn’t around anymore. How would ShinRa survive without the ‘mommy Turk’ there to bossy them around lovingly? And Reno? How would he survive? And the child? How was the child going to survive with its mother? Kylie couldn’t imagine Reno knowing the first thing about children. How was he going to deal with a child?
When no answer came, Kylie finally just set her jaw, grabbed the door handle and pushed it open, walking right on in. “Reno?”, she asked calmly, forcibly denying the yawn from coming out of her mouth. Rubbing her eyes, she pushed the door back shut again, aqua eyes scanning the apartment she had been in before, but not a ton. It looked…well, clean. Probably because Cissnei had always been great in that area, still, she didn’t see Reno. “Reno Sinclair? Are you in here?”, she finally asked once more, taking a few more steps inside the place. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 740 Muse:; Great! Location:; Apartment Outfit:; Something I'll make! Reno had never been depressed before, like actually depressed enough to sit around a mope, he simply had too good a life to mope. Even when he’d been a l’cie, sure he’d get down a few times and think the usual ‘why me’ stuff, but he’d had Cissnei by his side, something to fight for and work against his focus…but the tables had been turned. Here he was without Cissnei, he’d lost her to the fal’cie, but not only that, he had a child to take care of. A day old…sleeping quietly…but he didn’t know the first thing about babies. He knew they ate and cried a lot, but…this was when those really insecure thoughts of being a terrible dad came back to haunt him. Reno was going to self destruct here before long. And yes, now that Cissnei was gone, now that he had no one to help him or anyone to depend on like her…he was depressed. Deeply.
With a deep sigh, the redhead simply rested his back against one of the walls in his apartment, he was stuck in the living room, a baby sleeping on the sofa all curled up in a little bundle of blankets as he sat on the ground, actually feeling like complete crap. He’d spent the past several hours here, sitting there with his eyes glued to the baby, to the ground, and to anything within the room that reminded him of Cissnei, which was absolutely everything. He ran his hands through his hair and groaned to himself quietly, tilting his head town so that his hands were pressing against his neck, his forehead almost touching his knees as he sat. “How did this happen...?” he asked himself before shaking his head, he knew how it happened. A damned Fal’cie had taken his wife from him, and just at the start of their happy life. Why was it once they got over some traumatic event, they simply couldn’t have a moment’s peace? Someone out there was targeting them for horror, for destruction, and if those beings weren’t careful, Reno really was going to combust. Then who would take care of the child?
Hearing the baby stir a little bit, Reno lifted his head and was ready to move. That small child was so fragile, even a slight sound made Reno feel as if the baby would break within a second’s notice. He couldn’t handle the pressure that was weighing on his shoulders right now, he was a complete mess and hopeless. His bloodshot blue-green eyes closed for a moment, after Zayden stopped moving around to get comfortable, but as soon as he’d relaxed against the wall again, he’d heard some silent knocking against the door that led into his apartment. Lifting his head some, he listened…not hearing much but a muffled voice. He didn’t want visitors, there was no need for their sympathy, but it seemed that this guest wasn’t going to take a silent response as a hint to go away. Hearing the door open and hearing the voice of Kylie fill the room – though silently, his eyes moved to Zayden as she stirred around again, her own blue-green eyes opening. “Yes.” He simply said in a low mumble to his new house guest.
Getting to his feet, Reno wandered over towards the sofa and picked Zayden up, lifting her into his arms and resting her against his shoulder. His eyes moving to Kylie as the stress, worry, and obvious depression could easily be seen on his face. Yes, like I said, a complete mess. “What brings you here?” he asked, patting the back of the baby in his arms gently, not that he really knew what the heck it was he was supposed to be doing, just keeping her comfortable or something. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 747 Muse: Great! Kylie didn't bother to wait any longer then the slight pause she did, instead, opening the door herself and stepping inside. When she did, Kylie was hit with the smell of...well, Reno and Cissnei, whatever the hell they smelled like. Closing the door behind her, Kylie called out to see if Reno was there. Perhaps he had stepped out for something. Diapers or milk or food for himself, or perhaps he didn't want to see anyone and was hiding to avoid them. Tough luck, he was seeing her whether he wanted to or not. Instantly she could feel the cozy atmosphere that the apartment radiated. Pictures of the Turks filled the walls. After she had called for Reno, she turned to look at a few pictures. There was them years before, with Rod distracted, no doubt by Reno, and yelling at the long haired red head, while Reno looked at the camera with the goofiest smile on his face. Cissnei stood tucked in between Reno and Rude, leaning over Reno to talk to Rod. Thinking back, Kylie couldn't even remember what it was that she had said, but she could remember it had been a prompt discipline. The picture right beside had been taken only moments later, Cissnei now with each hand linked in one of Reno and Rude's arms and smiling at the camera cheerfully, probably still oblivious that it had been Reno that had caused the problem. Rod didn't even attempt a smile, fiercely scowling at the camera. Reno, she noticed, had enough of a smug grin to make up for both of them. God, had that been so many years ago now?
Kylie had had that same picture framed in her apartment for years now, a reminder of the best time in her life. Taking her eyes off that picture, she stepped a few feet away, this time a picture of Cissnei attempting to teach Rude how the head shiner she'd bought him worked. Kylie found herself grinning over her standing on a chair to accomplish that deed, looking so serious about the deed. Reno's appearance caused her to realize all over again why she was here. They had always been prepared for their own death, or the death of someone else, but-...now that they were faced with it, Kylie felt the tightening in her chest. Cissnei might have been a bit too bossy at times, but sometimes it seemed like she was the glue that had held them all together, like a mother ruling her roost. And now she was gone.
Glancing Reno up and down, she said the first thing that she thought, not bothering to sugar coat it. "You look like shit," she mentioned with a sigh. Walking over toward him, Kylie glanced at the bundle he held in his arms. Kylie had never in her life thought she would see Reno holding a baby in his arms, let alone his own. Swallowing hard and clearing her throat, Kylie reached her hands out and gently took the bundle from him. Rocking her a moment to quiet the fusses, Kylie tucked her in her arms and looked down at the baby. She had heard it was a girl, but aside from that had no idea anything about her. She had eyes just like Reno. Instantly a loud cry filled the air as the girl bellowed her displeasure. "She sure has your temperament.", she said dryly, patting at the baby gently and shushing her. After a moment the child stopped and looked at her with interested eyes. "What's her name?"
A moment later she looked up to assess Reno, thinking perhaps he looked better then she had originally thought. Nope. With a sigh, Kylie felt that tightness in her chest again. "God, Reno, I'm sorry," she said quietly. Some thought that Kylie didn't have much of a heart, which wasn't true. She just...kept a ridged shell because she didn't know how normal people expressed their feelings. Besides that, she had suppressed them for too long to just let them run around willy nilly now. Though Reno had always been a Turk, and thus, a member of their dysfunctional family, Kylie had never had a better appreciation for him as she did at that moment. "I heard....when I got back from the Healen mission," she said quietly, still rocking the baby in her arms. Even now she couldn't mention Cissnei's name. If it hurt her, how much more did it hurt him? "I figured I would come to see if you needed help." For his sake she mentioned 'see', but she also figured that there was no way he didn't need help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 959 Muse:; Great! A deep sigh, that was what Reno seemed to be doing a lot lately. Simply sighing and wondering how his world had turned out this way. Everything had been going so good since he’d returned from crystal stasis! Why the hell…god, maybe what most men said was true. Finding someone was a curse? No, this wasn’t Cissnei’s fault, bad things just happened for a reason, no matter how crappy that reason was. With the door opening though, he didn’t have much more time to wallow in self pity, he got to his feet and retrieved Zayden from where she had been laying down. Of all the faces Reno could’ve expected, Kylie’s was one of the last he expected. Followed by Elena. It seemed that since all this crap had happened that things were just…mellow for him in terms of who was being a complete crab towards him, then again he didn’t see much of the Turks for the past day or so. It was unusual and he felt family deprived…but he was in no mood for company whatsoever.
Rolling his eyes and narrowing them towards Kylie, Reno shrugged his shoulders slightly. “Thanks, I guess.” He mumbled sarcastically towards the blonde, really not in the mood for any company, no matter how heartfelt or stupid the visit was. If anything, he’d be happy if one particular chestnut haired Turk walked through the door, but that was unlikely to happen. Now Reno knew that empty lost feeling she had felt when he went away. That feeling of the rug being pulled from under your feet, that feeling of complete darkness in your world…it was a chilly feeling. With a deep breath as Kylie approached, arms ready to take the bundle, Reno shifted Zayden carefully into her arms and collapsed himself onto the sofa nearby, a groan working its way through his chest, but he kept that inside, not wanting to seem like the most frustrated person on the face of all of Gaia…even though he was. He could only long for sleep, and if he wasn’t careful, he’d fall asleep within a few seconds. At least Zayden was in careful and very capable hands.
Of course the cry made Reno flinch only slightly. He hated to hear that sound, not to mention it was the immediate trigger of a headache, every single time. He gave a sarcastic laugh towards Kylie as he shook his head. “Of course she does, she’s mine.” He shrugged slightly while continuing to lay on the sofa, so close to being asleep it wasn’t even funny. “Zayden. Cissnei…wanted something with a Z.” his tone dropped at the thought, he wanted to not be so down, to feel so crappy, so he did what he could to sort of brush off the pain that came even with the word ‘Cissnei’. Sitting up so he didn’t fall asleep, he looked towards Kylie and the words she spoke…it actually took him by surprise. She sounded…legit. Like she was actually sorry. It simply brought his gaze down, as well as his mood. Sympathy, it could only remind someone of the crap that happened. Shaking his head some. “Yeah.” Was all he could really muster, but he appreciated the fact that she was thinking of him, and not spinning this in a bad direction, into sarcastic comments and what not, he really did appreciate that.
“I wasn’t expectin’ anyone to head out here, but…I suppose I appreciate it. Things haven’t been easy…even though it hasn’t been that long ya know?” he shrugged again, sighing and laying back down on the sofa, moving his arms behind his head, inhaling a deep breath. “Help…heh…that’s the thing I need most these days it seems like, hm?” Judging by the way he looked, sounded and felt…yeah…help, Reno desperately needed it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 751 Muse: Good Tagged: Kylie Wearing: Linked? So maybe telling him he looked like shit hadn’t been the nicest thing to say. Well it was the truth anyway, and Kylie usually spoke the truth with most of the things in her life. While she walked forward to retrieve the little Sinclair bundle, she studied him a little more. She was right, even if he didn’t like to admit it. He did really look like shit. She’d never seen him look like this, not even when he had been so injured or dog tired on his feet for forty eight hours type thing. She couldn’t even imagine how he must be feel-…well that wasn’t entirely true. She had felt that way when her mother had died. As if everything in your world that you knew had been taken away from you and you were now just a shell of the person you had been before. That was the moment that she had been destined to be like she was now, cold and ridged toward the world.
When he gave her the baby, Kylie noticed that instantly he collapsed on the couch. He should probably sleep for a few hours, at least, if he wanted to remain sane. “You need some sleep, how long has it been?”, she asked calmly while she rocked the baby in her arms to quiet it. She wasn’t kidding when she had said that the baby reminded her of him. It was ever ready to tell what it was uncomfortable about, and its unique eyes too, though she had to admit, that was a good thing for it to have inherited. Hopefully it had Cissnei’s hair so it wouldn’t blind them all when it got older. And hopefully it also obtained a little more of Cissnei’s quiet and calm personality the older it got. Highly unlikely if it was growing up in an environment with Reno, but one could never be so sure about that anyway. Maybe the little girl would surprise them all. Reno’s response made her shake her head a bit, before the little girl settled down and was content to just look at her with those big eyes. Zayden…unique. Her sly gaze took him in when he said that Cissnei had wanted a name that started with Z. The emotion was there, even if he looked mostly asleep on that couch.
Well…of course it looked like he needed help. Even though the time had been short, there was no doubt Reno had been working around the clock before it had happened, and now with this mess…God, one year into their marriage and he was suddenly alone with a baby to take care of. That would be hard on just about everyone, but Reno Sinclair especially. He wasn’t exactly the baby type anyway. Taking a little sigh, Kylie propped a hand on her hip and continued to rock the child up and down slightly in her other arm. “Well you do need help, so face up to that and accept it.”, she said firmly, all forms of pity draining away. Cissnei…as much as Kylie was going to miss the gentle Turk, right now moping about her wasn’t going to help. But what was going to help was making sure that Zayden got everything she needed…and that Reno did as well. This was going to be hard for him, but she was going to help. Not that she knew a ton about babies, but she’d gone on a few missions where she’d had to help with babies. So…yeah, she could find places she knew about. “When’s the last time she was fed?”, she asked professionally, making her way into the kitchen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 783 Muse:; Great Location:; Apartment Outfit:; Something Tagged:; Reno Notes:; -- Listening To:; It's my Life - Bon Jovi

Kylie’s observation of Reno looking like shit and how he felt really did correspond nicely. He felt like crap, looked like it, and wanted to sleep. He was dead tired and wanted nothing more than for this entire nightmare – aside from the blessing that was a baby girl – to go away. He wanted the fal’cie to go away, he wanted danger to go away…he…wanted Cissnei to come back. It was all things he couldn’t get though, no matter how hard he tried, or begged or prayed…nothing would change, and nothing would ever be the same for him. He was a Turk, not a father, he went in dangerous missions on a daily basis that were open ended in the question of coming back dead or alive. What would happen if an accident happened on one of those said missions, then what? Reno didn’t want Zayden to go to an orphanage…that would be cruel…he wasn’t abandoned as a kid…but he knew the cruelty and pain that would put on a child, he was smart enough to figure that one out on his own.
Looking towards the blonde after Reno himself had collapsed on the sofa, he shook his head tiredly before rubbing his hands around his eyes, trying to wake himself up some more and get his brain to working again. “It’s been…long enough. I’d been on a few missions before hand, working around the clock…you know, tryin’ t’ get overtime for a better paycheck…” he said with a stifled yawn in his voice before relaxing back against the sofa cushions, his arms folded behind his head as he closed his eyes, already feeling sleep take over his mind, but he fought against it. There was no way he was going to just zonk out and leave Kylie with his baby…that was rude and…well…unless she didn’t mind. Since when was she the first to offer up babysitting though? Oh well, she was the one with the baby right now…and even still, Reno forced his eyes open, staring at the dull ceiling while he spoke of the baby’s name. It pained him to think about it…but hey, anything pained him these days, whether it was the lack of sleep for his head, the ache in his back, or the pain of losing Cissnei…everything hurt these days, there was no changing that, no matter how much someone could and would assist him.
Listening to Kylie again, Reno groaned slightly before sitting up and propping his knee up, as well as an elbow on that propped knee. He looked over towards Kylie and quirked an eyebrow at her, shaking his head slightly before sighing. “Fine, I’ll accept whatever help you’re wantin’ t’ give me.” He said with a brief shrug of his shoulders. He wasn’t going to turn down help, but as he had said before…not really in the mood for visitors, but who could blame him? Who WOULD blame him? It was amazing Kylie had even come here to make sure everything was okay…and for that…he was truly grateful, even if he wasn’t showing it that well. “She ate probably about…” his eyes gazed towards a nearby clock, but even his eyes were having a hard time seeing straight. “An hour or two ago? Time doesn’t seem to be on a steady pace these days ya know? So much has happened in so little time.” He shrugged before standing up to his feet, placing his hands on his waist and looking towards Kylie. “There is one thing I can say that has been gettin’ me through a lot o’ this. Coffee?” he said as he wandered towards the kitchen. Yes, Caffine was the best friend of anyone being sleep deprived and with a baby…and that sure was the truth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 738 Muse: Good Tagged: Kylie Wearing: Linked Listening To: NOTHING Notes: I dunno.

Kylie instantly frowned slightly in disapproval when Reno mentioned that he had been working around the clock. She realized that he wanted to provide for…well now just his daughter, but to do that, he had to be alive. The Turks worked enough, and had a good paycheck, so why was he attempting to kill himself over this? He would have plenty of time to provide for a daughter. But life was stressful, she realized that. “For Gaia’s sake Reno, if you need help with finances, any of us would be more than happy to assist you.”, she mentioned with a sigh. “Zayden automatically became a niece to each of us, so we’d be more than willing to help you with her.” Kylie hated talking about family and love and affection and all that stuff, but at the same time, she felt that he needed to hear it. “So quit your stubborn attitude and let us help, damn it. Most of us don’t have any family, so rather than kill yourself over work, let us contribute in the future.” She was frustrated that he felt like he could and needed to this all by himself.
Just looking at him she realized that he needed some help. Because darn it, his features were drawn, even more pale than normal, he was stifling yawns every minute, and his eyes were drooping in that way that said that he was extremely exhausted. She thought of a way to bring it up without being overbearing or pushy. But…oh screw that, they all thought her pushy at times, so she should at least give them some reason to think so, right? It sounded like a good idea to her, so…yes, that would be alright, at least in her eyes. Besides, she doubted that he was going to talk back to her, so she had the advantage. Yes, Reno knew not to snap back at her, because she’d just do the same.
There it was, proof, since he said that he would accept any help that she would be willing to give. She nodded in approval when he mentioned that, before patting Zayden and starting toward the kitchen, asking him when the last time it was that she had been fed. An hour or two earlier? Well that couldn’t be it then. “Did she eat well? Or was she fussy?”, she asked him. Kylie was no means a child expert, but she’d had to deal with a baby once for a long period of time in a relocation crime witness couple and their child. She had learned a lot from that young mother, and she was wracking her brain to be able to bring it all back to memory. There was plenty that the baby could be fussy about, especially in this situation.
At his offer for coffee, Kylie eyed him from the side. That told her that he definitely wasn’t getting what he needed. “Sure, I’ll take some.”, she said in an offhand manner. That next moment she was juggling the baby and getting a bottle ready. If it wasn’t hungry, then she could go a different route and attempt to help the fussy baby. “Reno…you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of a child.”, she mentioned, shifting the baby and sticking the formula in the water she had warmed in the microwave. “I’ll take her some nights.”, she offered, sending him a glance. Kylie felt a sense of duty toward the child. Like she had said, they didn’t really have any family…so they needed Zayden just as much as Zayden needed them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 792 Muse:; Good!
