- Family Crest Ring (Index finger on left hand)
- Rose Ring (Ring finger on left hand)
Appearance: Brook wears a long, blue coat that has a purplish hue to it depending on the light. He can usually be seen wearing zip-up hoodies underneath his coat which in turn usually covers t-shirts or vests depending on the weather. Brook favours dark-blue jeans over any other trousers and doesn't find them restrictive as he's "always" worn jeans. Due to his chosen profession and flamboyant attitude he only wears dependable footwear usually boots or high-top trainers.
Brook wears two rings on his normal hand: one on his index finger that has the emblem of a sword and shield on its face, presumably his family crest and another on his ring finger which has a rose design on its face (which allegedly belonged to his mother). He has pale white hair that appears to be brushed down but in actual fact is the way it grows.
Interestingly enough due to the experiments done to him before birth he was born with unnaturally bright blue eyes that turned red whenever he became outraged and drew upon his 'demon blood' (i.e. The power granted to him due to the experimentation). As technically being half 'monster' Brook has developed enhanced senses that greatly surpass humans and low level monsters allowing him to smell and hear things at a greater distance and outside of the normal frequencies, He also has near-perfect night vision. Possibly as a side effect of the experimentation Brook has much thicker skin than normal giving an extra resistance to damage although it can still be pierced/ burnt/ sliced etc.
Due to his experimental birth Brook was born with a 'defective' right arm which has a satanic look to it; He has clawed ice-blue fingers that turns to a blood-red colour from his knuckles to his shoulder. The ice-blue extends down the centre of the back of his hand and runs down his forearm to create a sort of stem-like pattern with the colour conflicting with the much darker shade of red that makes up his 'flesh'. His arm is said to be the physical manifestation of the power granted to him by the 'Demon' experimentation performed on him whilst in the womb.
Personality: Brook is actually really sarcastic no matter the situation making him appear anti-social in some cases and foolhardy in others. He's always taunting people in a sardonic manner not caring who they are or their ability(/abilities). This attitude is taken even further as he's quite an arrogant and cocky person being seemingly overconfident in his own abilities. One thing that Brook admits to doing is swearing a lot whether it's at people or cursing in general, he does it a LOT.
Despite his poor upbringing or lack thereof Brook is fiercely loyal to his friends, especially people that he is romantically fond off, going to great lengths to please them and putting it all on the line to keep them safe.
Brook is naturally rebellious which has lead to him working alone rather in groups on a number of occasions. Believing himself to be stronger on his own he prefers to work solo acting as a lone wolf this however, does not mean that he can't work as a part of a group, he just chooses not to.
Whether it is down to the side of him that surfaced due to the experiments or his actual natural personality Brook is actually quite a choleric character making him prone to mood swings (which people have taken control of in the past to manipulate him). He's known to lose it at times harbouring a fierce anger due to some understandable abandonment issues and at other times beating himself up about his failures; he's been seen crying a few times but has 'Hardened' up a little recently.
History:
| New Genesis | "I was the subject of Vile Experiments"
Due to project G's shortcomings in comparison to the vastly superior project S, Professor L; A Shinra scientist developed an offshoot of Project G and figured he'd experiment with the bonding of human and monster DNA to create an improved soldier after discovering Jenovas' true origins. As the results of the project S were successful in the altering the DNA of unborn foetus's the scientist decided to follow the same procedures, replicating the experiments but infusing the subject with cells extracted from monster that had been deemed as possessing fighting prowess rather than with the left over cells from Jenova or Sephiroth.
Following his orders Professor L' assistant followed his every whim and proceeded to complete the project and successfully create a being that will surpass the previous generations of SOLDIER and be strong enough to defeat the evils that they had created in their previous experiments. They extracted cells from an unborn foetus and tried to bond it with the DNA obtained from monsters within their lab before putting their 'precious' test subject at risk. Whilst it turned out that the subjects DNA was in fact compatible with the foreign DNA and would bond with it on a molecular level they found themselves reluctant to implant the cells into the child and risk the same results that they'd seen before. Pressured by the professor as he was overseeing the experiment and perhaps due to the eagerness of surpassing project S the went ahead with the experiment. It was a waiting game. They knew the experiment would work theoretically but the fruits of their labour could only be confirmed when the subject was born.
Labelled as a failure at birth due to producing undesirable results the project was once again marked as a deficient. That coupled with the loss of the subjects mother shortly after reduced professor Scientist's drive. He was once again staring failure in the eye as the project was on the verge of being scrapped and his lab closed down.
| Disregarded | " I was deemed as a failure under the guise of a child"
Not wanting to bring the subject up especially with it being a failure the professor kept it's existence unknown to anyone and proceeded to abandon the subject by the church under the plate. Feeling that someone would come by and pick him up or he'd just simply left and die. The subject fiercely gripped a blanket that belonged to his mother and the professor didn't have the heart to take it from him so he left him curled up with it on the doorsteps of the church and left without looking back.
~Luckily for the test subject he was found and a young couple raised him as their own despite his physical defects. Looking at the blanket that they found him wrapped up in they took the printed name "Baby Brooks" as his parents last wishes and named him "Logan" in honour of their own child that passed away but referred to him as "Brook" growing up.
| Outcast within Society | "I've always been different"
Growing up Brook knew he was different; Different to all of the other kids and different to his parents. To him his arm itself was evidence enough of this. This caused him to resent it, he hated it for making him different but he didn't know why he was different. The only people that knew of the experiments were professor L, his assistant at the time and Brooks' deceased mother so to everyone else it was a complete mystery. Not being able to understand it from a young age Brooks was already feeling alienated which was making him into a bit of a loner and he found his parents lack of answers frustrating.
This went on for quite a while until one day when a kid from the neighbourhood started a fight with Brook. Whether it was down to the anger that had been building up inside the young boy or outside influence, he exploded with rage and pushed the guy away from him with a freakish bout of strength which further labelled him as a freak.
| Repent | "I denied what I was"
Despite his regressing friendship with the remainder of his neighbours, and despite what he was Brook wanted to become strong enough to protect everyone. He, like the majority of his kids looked up to the members of SOLDIER and their heroic adventures especially the famous first class members. As soon as he was old enough he decided that he would join up to try and make a difference in the world.
Brook was slowly approaching the age where he could enlist but a life changing event took place which altered his perspective on life. Whilst out on a 'date' with one of the kids from the neighbourhood (mentioned in crushes section) they were randomly attacked by a small group of monsters which lead to Sophia's death. Brook however managed to 'awaken' his dormant powers and slay the monsters with a bit of difficulty. Returning to town with her body he explained what had happened, proving himself with one of the monsters heads as evidence. He was met with mixed feelings; with some people believing him completely and others fearing his weird abilities. Everyone else's opinion didn't matter in his mind, the only girl he liked had died and he was powerless to protect her.
Blaming himself his attitude towards darkened in nature. The idea of being the 'hero' slowly began to erode as he took on a more realistic view on life. As he grew older he offered himself out as a mercenary for hire rather than being a SOLDIER.
Abilities:
Commando:
- Blitz
Ravager:
- Fire (Blue in colour)
- Flamestrike (Blue in colour)
Sentinel:
- Steelguard
Summons: None
Magic: N/A
Strengths:
- Ambidexterity
- Indomitable Will
- Brute strength
Weaknesses:
- Quick to anger
- Arrogant
- Stubborn
- Puts himself into harms way to protect others
- Has a tendency to overexert himself
Weapons:
- Generic Sword: Brook favours one-handed swords in combat (which he wields with his normal arm although as he is ambidextrous he can switch if need be).
- Mercy- Brooks Custom Revolver: As some people wish to stick to ranged weaponry Brook started carrying around a custom made revolver that shoots thirteen millimetre hollow point rounds. It has an under and over barrel system that allows it to fire two bullets for each shot fired. The sheer size of the gun coupled with its weight and recoil make it extremely difficult for other people to wield it.
- 'Demon' fist: While his own strength is augmented to make him stronger than average people and at a push SOME soldiers, it's his right arm that possess superhuman strength enabling him to do things that would seem impossible to any ordinary being such as allowing him to fight off beings with enhanced strength or your average monster. He has been known to use its strength to grapple and throw objects much larger than him to gain a better standing in a fight and preventing him from getting overpowered by most things.
Due to the unknown material that his arm is made out, its be shown to be quite durable as Brook can be seen using it to block or deflect attacks as he is of yet to find anything that can damage it.
Whilst his clawed fingers (only on this arm) are sharp enough to cut through a number of materials he doesn't intentionally use to offensively or to 'scratch'.
As mentioned in the character appearance his arm is constantly glowing an icy blue colour (but doesn't shine through his clothes) and the brightness of the glow depends on a number of factors but mainly Brooks emotional state. It doesn't go out when he's asleep but it has gone out completely (but only momentarily) when he's been knocked out.

Role Play Sample:
"Brook! Brook! Hey! Are you deaf or something?! Brook?!!" A voice called out somewhere from the distance. Brook was none the wiser as he had his earphones over his head, with his music on to a loud enough volume to drown everything out. He was on his way back from an important mission that would lead to a pretty decent payout, he reflected on the missions parameters. While he took on whatever work he chose and tackled it head on in his own special way he always did it with some kind of plan in mind- well the majority of the time anyway. Unsheathing his sword he gazed at its remnants. I need to get my hands on some decent weapons. I'm burning through this crap. He tossed the hilt of the blade aside as it were less than scrap metal.
Suddenly becoming more and more aware of his surroundings he caught the end of what he presumed to be a conversation and further ignored the voice that seemed to be calling out to him; Turning up his music just a little bit more. He carried on walking back to the town that he was staying in; the remnants of Gongaga, He was resting there in an inn when between missions. The voice called out again but this time it felt as if it were in close proximity to himself. Dangerously close. He quickly spun on his heels just as the person was tapping on him to get his attention. A kid? He thought to himself as he analysed the kids angry expression. "P*** off Kid" Speaking a little louder due to the fact that he still had his earphones on he shrugged the kid off and carried on.
Appearing to have gotten the message the kid left him alone, Brook didn't work for free. He wasn't a charity. If the kid needed his help then he'd hit up the inn and leave him half of the payment up beforehand before he even considered lifting a finger. Whenever he was in a new town Brook would make a deal with the owners of inns that if they pointed people in his direction that he'd give them twenty percent of what he earned as long as they provided him with a place to stay. It seemed to have been working quite well except for here. The innkeeper of Gongaga was trying to play him, take him for all of his money...Brook disrespectfully kicked the door open before throwing his things inside. Walking up to the bar he casually threw down the head of a thief that had been plaguing the town and tapped on the bar signalling that he was waiting to be served. "The usual" He added with a smirk. The bartender slid his drink over with an envelope that encased his payment.
Throwing the envelope into the air and catching it he looked over at the middle-aged man before addressing him. "Seems a little light. You're not holding out on me are you?," The guy chuckled a little to himself whilst he started to clean cups "You're over your head kid. Go home and get a real job." Clearly not impressed with the situation Brooks eyes momentarily flashed from their 'normal' blue to a bright red colour before he spoke. He drew his gun and fired a shot off purposely missing the guys head. "Go blow yourself. Moneys mine. This tips for free, next time I won't miss". Seemingly to have done the trick he downed his drink and forcefully took the rest of the payment. Picking his bag up he pulled his hood up over his head and left. As he passed the kid on the way out of the village he left on "I'm blowing this joint. I suggest you do the same. It's a s*** hole." Heading off in the direction of Midgar he wondered what his next mission would be.
