The man garbed in iron had sealed their fate. "Heaven help us," he muttered out, before he placed a hand on the hilt of his sword. He didn't want to do this, but he would have to. Yes, they had been damned. Leon knew the feeling all too well. With a deep indrawn breath, he accepted his fate. Even if he didn't wish this upon himself, there was no escaping the burden that had now been placed on his shoulders. Lifting his chin, he swallowed his bitter thoughts and allowed himself to look around, curious once again at who was around him. He would make the best of a bad situation, bide his time and see what the future would bring. That was all he could do currently. Patience. He had to have patience...soon he would figure this mess out.
Perhaps then he could find a way back home. He didn't belong here. Didn't belong in this underworld. Eyes glanced at the god that sat on his throne and felt anger course through his veins. Who was he that he could order so many men and women to give him their lives? That was exactly what they were doing, giving him their lives, because some would die. That was a simple fact that he wasn't going to deny, as it was a great possibility. In any battle there was a possibility of death, however generally someone had a reason to live, a reason to fight which caused them to ignore the possibility. This though...why should they give their lives to a war they didn't care about? Or was it only he that questioned the battles to come? No, there had been others that had expressed similar things. Just like the man that seemed to have been expressing some sort of poetry.
Raising his eyes to find him, Leon's eyes flickered from him before his eyes were drawn to the two other men that were close to him. Midnight blue eyes swung to each one. These three seemed human. Turning, he crossed his arms over his chest and studied them, before he made a quick decision. Though he was generally a lone wolf, for some reason this quest seemed to call for their cooperating with each other. Allowing his arms with a decisive sigh, his feet took him toward the men, his eyes swinging from soul to soul. “Have you made it your resolve to fight, then?” He still hadn’t quite figured out what they were going to do, but he assumed that they would be fighting battles that shouldn’t be theirs to do so with. That was frustrating, and aggravating as well. What gave anyone the right, god or not, to be able to tell them that they had to fight for the darkness? It was just a load of garbage in his eyes, but he knew better then to go ahead and verbalize just how he felt about this. Death would come swiftly if he did. So instead, he could do nothing but bide his time and wait for the opportunity to present itself.
He didn’t belong here, did he?

All this time, there was no word of comfort for the fallen general. He stood there, eyes almost closed, trying to organize all his puzzled mind after realizing he now belong to chaos and everything is his fault. It was his own decision to remain loyal to a corrupted empire, it was his sin to let the Doma Kingdom be turn to dust with poison... it was his own responsibility that Kefka did cause the extinction of the espers. In the end, Leo was the only capable person of stopping the virus that purged peace of the world and he did nothing... for that he was summoned among the ones that serve ruin and discord. Listening to the growls of the demon serving under the God of Discrord, Leo stood among the remaining men, silent and pitied. He bit his lips before saying forging a deal with this demon, but, he was not able to stand by his morals and back up. Once again, he failed to demonstrate he was a person that wished to serve order, meaning that this is his destiny and there is nothing he can do about it. The thoughts of Terra, Celes, Edgar and the others came to his head, thinking that for the first time he might have to cross swords with them to keep things under the natural balance. At least, Leo found comfort in thinking that he was not battling for Chaos or a god that meant to destroy all the hope in the hearts of people, instead, he fought to keep the worlds in a state of balance as they are supposed to be. This he learned from the lovely grain haired heroine. Only a few remained in this place, maybe those who shared the same fate of the General. He discreetly looked around to spot some of the men that hesitated in the first place but had no choice but to lend their sword to a demon's cause. Maybe Leo could stick with them for a while, trying to figure out why their fate was distorted like this. He then listened to a dark haired man direct himself to Leo. "Do I have an option? Is it worthy to swim against the current?" Leo replied with a defeated tone of voice to the knight standing before him. The General then stared directly into the midnight black colored eyes of the knight, he saw in them that they both shared similar fates. "Maybe we can stick together, we both seek the same answers I may assume" Leo then sighed in disbelief and expected the other two to either join or leave on their own. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Count: 450 Next: Badgoodies Muse: CLothing: Normal

Genesis paid no one any mind as their little gathering seemed to finally split off into separate different groups. Whether it were intentional or not, it seemed everyone just split off into small groups. Honestly, Genesis didn't care if he ended up traveling with anyone or not. He'd rather just wallow in his punishment alone pretty much. After all, monsters were solitary creatures by nature as were SOLDIER and Ex-SOLDIER such as himself.
As the group eventually came down to just four men, including Genesis amongst them, one figure started to walk over to those left. Pale blue eyes focused on him as he approached but Genesis said nothing when he had asked if they had made it their resolve to fight. Honestly, Genesis didn't care for getting dragged into this war but he viewed it as his punishment. He would serve his punishment regardless of his opinion. In his eyes, he was a monster and monsters only cared about despair and destruction anyway. There was no honor to a monster. His memories prior to being here were rather foggy. So, as far as he knew, he was still the SOLDIER without pride and honor just without the degradation. How that happened, the lack of degradation part, he never knew but he was glad he wasn't degrading anymore. However, it obviously came with a hefty price as he soon found out coming to this world.
Balance. Genesis had to scoff at that. Monsters cared nothing about balance! All they cared about was discord. So long as others suffered, monsters were fulfilling their job in being what they were. As he stood there, Genesis simply listened in to what the man from before was saying and what a second man was saying in response to his words. The second had a point. Was it worth going against what brought them here only to possibly be wiped entirely from existence? No, it certainly wasn't.
After a moment, the second man who had been the one that looked like a general had suggested they travel together since they may have the same answers that they sought. "When the war of the beasts bring the world's end..." Genesis murmured to himself. It was out of habit for him to utter lines from LOVELESS but that line alone pretty much summed up what would happen. Worlds would end other than their existence. Even still he had to lightly shake his head at that. This truly was a predicament if ever he saw one. It was nearly as big of a mess that he had been in last when he screwed everything up back home.
Still, he said nothing more to the others. Frankly, Genesis was not the social butterfly. Granted, he loved fame and being a hero but he didn't care to socialize with people much. Only a select few had gotten him to open up. Angeal, Sephiroth and Zack knew him but the previous two more so than the last. Could he manage to form a bond with others? Maybe, maybe not. Monsters didn't exactly form friendships after all.
"The wandering soul knows no rest..."he murmured to himself again in thought.

And now he was a soldier, propped up and expected to fight for a cause that he couldn't have cared less about for a being that clearly had none of their best interests in mind. Noctis could never remember being more miserable in his life.
But he didn't act like a miserable man. After the demon...or whatever it was...had given to them what it offered, they'd all started off, some eager to jump into this..."war" without question, while those such as Noctis weren't exactly...enthusiastic. Noctis was nothing, really. His face nor his mannerisms betrayed any sense of a high or low emotion. He'd only made his way, irresolutely, over to a solitary area and...stayed there, with arms crossed over his chest and his contentment to stare off at the far end of this place he'd already decided was some kind of hell. He wasn't standing there to think, either. What was there to think about? He'd taken the power. He was going to have to fight. In fighting, he'd have to get stronger to survive this. Other options didn't exist, if the demon was to be believed. Would Noctis have made any other choice? Maybe. But he was resigned to this one that was already made for him, for now.
And in the demon's voice, he could almost hear his father, the king, telling him the same thing. You have no choice but to protect the crystal. It's what you were put on this earth for. Either you adapt to it, or our family goes down in flames. Both times, to both challenges, Noctis had put himself in the role without a question as to whether it was what he wanted - or what he, as a human being, could even do. And both times he could remember standing like this, staring out at the nothing and deciding he was going to have to change some things, not necessarily for the better, if he was going to survive. Finally, his head fell slightly at the thought, and to avoid looking downtrodden he made to adjust his glove on his hand. The last thing he needed was the pity of these people. He didn't expect them to be the types to pity...sometimes he could see that he wasn't that type, either.
But he wasn't alone as he stood there. Noctis had apathetically noticed a couple of the other men - both carrying swords - gravitating to the area. Noctis hadn't payed them much mind at first, but as he fidgeted momentarily, the voice of one of them caught his ear. Well...not one of them. A cut of his eyes brought a third man into his vision, this one...whom he'd noticed earlier, looked somewhat like Noctis himself. Noctis didn't hear what all he said - almost didn't care - but the blond one's comment did compel him to focus on the conversation going on. Sticking together...what was it, that they were all reluctant about doing this? Who knew...all the other one was doing was spouting something Noctis, in all his education, recognized as something poetic. His eyes finally settled on this man, then at the other two, before he turned back to his own little world. Or tried to... now he wanted to know what they were talking about and if what they were talking about would be something that interested Noctis, too. As much as he didn't care much about the other people here because he didn't think they deserved it...the two that were actually conversing sounded...different. Reluctant.
Maybe they were worth something.

Asking the question of the man that he had come to seemed to gain the same response he had. Did they have an option? Did any of them? Really, what were they, aside from pawns to be used on a whim? Leon had been a pawn for long enough in his life to realize what it meant to be a pawn, in fact, years of his life had been spent in that exact way. It wasn’t something he was proud of necessarily, but he realized that now he was much more well in tuned to knowing the outcome from something like this. He doubted that any of them would really live long enough to tell the tale of being pawns, so it didn’t matter all that much anyway. Instead, they had to continue to trudge forward in an attempt to find a way to go against the crowd. “No matter what the circumstance, an opportunity to carve your own path always makes itself evident. If you wait long enough, you get your turn.”
The thought of working together to accomplish the goals that this god like man had set out for them seemed…to go against his morals, but as this man had so finely stated, what choice did they have? Any rebellion, he was sure, would just end in the death of them, at least with so many of the group apparently thinking it was normal for you to be taken from your world, into this hell, and then made to serve a purpose you didn’t give a damn about. Yes…yes that was extremely nice of the god. But…at this point, there was nothing he could do except take what had been given to each and every one of them. And as he had previously stated, everyone got a chance to swim against the current, if they waited and watched for the right opportunity. He knew…somehow he knew that he shouldn’t be here, but he didn’t know what to do about it, except to fight back. “Indeed. For the answers we look for are lurking.”
They would crush whatever spell they were now under.
The third made himself evident then, and from what Leon could remember, this man had not seemed so enthusiastic about being brought into this blood bath either. Raising a brow at what seemed to be poetry, he nodded to agree. “Of course, we know no rest until this matter is settled. Whatever way possible.” Though he might not be as sociable as some, he could recognize that the two who had gravitated toward him and this blonde hadn’t seemed excited about this prospect, but he would have to watch his words. After all, the last thing he needed was for that demon god to realize what he was thinking. If they were to get out of this, than they would have to show a cunning to do so. “In our search for answers to swim against the current, we could use more, if you’re interested,” he directed toward the two men that had yet to really say much. “The name, is Leonhart.”

(OOC: Due to the misfortune that Ark's having, Leo's no longer in this thread that I know of anymore. So, I am going to assume it's my turn now and reply. Of course, Ark's welcome to rejoin if they ever have the temptation to use Leo still at some point.) Genesis hadn't said much and had been speaking more so to himself than anything else. He wasn't a social butterfly. His only friends had been Sephiroth and Angeal. Both of which, he reminded himself, he had hurt greatly back on Gaia. If it hadn't been for his mental break down when he found out what he was, the others wouldn't have freaked out as well or get caught up in the mess that he had created. It was all his fault that Sephiroth had gone insane and that Angeal was no more. He had severed his bonds with the two men so badly that there wasn't any hope to mend them. Of course, there was a fourth to the group but Genesis hadn't really interacted with him much. He knew Angeal prized Zack and out of respect, left the young SOLDIER alone. However, he didn't really interact with him much. It was his wrong doings that had set them apart as well as enemies. Yes, Genesis had a lot of sins and he saw this fate fit for what he had done even though he felt regret about it all.
When he heard the dark haired one speaking to him, Genesis said nothing as he finally brought his gaze upon the other man. His expression was unreadable for the time being and it appeared as though he were listening to what he had to say at the moment. He was the one that seemed keen to try and get himself out of the mess they were in. Honestly, Genesis didn't see any way out of this. They were stuck no matter where they went. They were all under the thumb of that demonic god. If one of them stepped out of line, they were as good as dead. Where a part of him wished to find a way out, he did not want to die. That and he also felt like he deserved to be where he was right now even though he felt regret. Still, a part of him couldn't help but wonder. Maybe there was a small chance for escape? Even a small one?
As he looked back at Leonhart, when the man had introduced himself, he simply inclined his head as a sign of acknowledgement. "Well, Leonhart..." he trailed off, walking over to approach the man more fully. "I shall aid you only because I humor the idea of there being a small chance for escape if only a small one. Where this doesn't make us enemies, neither does this make us friends." He watched Leonhart carefully for his reaction as he told him upfront how things were going to be. He had no intentions of making friends with these men. Neither of them yet held his respect enough to do so, if any. Depending on how things went might decide how things were between them all.
Once he had finished saying this, Genesis then glanced over at Noctis. He had been quiet this whole time. He had to wonder what kind of man he was. Why had he seemed to linger? Was he of the same feelings as Leonhart? Genesis was merely humoring the idea. He didn't think there was an escape. He hadn't any real intentions of escaping since he viewed himself as a monster and planned on serving his punishment. There was a long, awkward silence that followed as Genesis looked back at Noctis. Leonhart and Genesis had yet to hear what he had to say if he even had anything to say. Right now, at least, Noctis now knew he had attention directed at him that was leaving him an opportunity to speak.
