.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
Layne had a good relationship with both parents, though she tended to lean toward being daddy’s little girl. Her father did have the tendency to spoil her lightly, but generally also instilled respect and obedience in her as well. Because of that, she’s had different arguments with her mom, though they were generally not over important topics. Usually it was arguments about her obsession with history, while her mom thought she should focus more on skills that would help her as an eventual wife and mother. Because of a strong personality, Layne tended to buck that and would rather be with her father and brother target practicing or working on vehicles, or being with Cole and later on, Chloe on their different expeditions growing up. She did, though, acquiesce about things her mother wanted her to do, and learned each skill, such as cooking, sewing, mostly by her father’s urging. Later on she had bother parents support when she decided to leave the nest in search of an exciting life in Rozzaria. After her father’s death and brother’s disappearance when Nabudis was destroyed, Layne grew even closer with her mother, since now they only have each other, and though they have their squabbles, generally speaking they get along very well.
.) What are your characters most prominent physical features? I really must say, she has lovely golden locks. That is all…
And a nice butt, come on Uncharted players, you know she has a nice butt!
.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason? Layne has a nice long scar on the left side of her waist. She got it at the young age of thirteen, of course, in an adventure with Cole. She was walking on a narrow shelf, when the rocks gave away and she fell. Though it wasn’t that deep and she didn’t get any broken bones, she did get a large cut from some protruding metal.
.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive? Layne has never really concentrated on looks. Though she thinks herself attractive, she doesn’t really care about that, and has been quite the tom boy growing up. Though she likes to wear a bit of makeup, and has dressed up for some classy events dealing with artifact presentation or things like that, for the most part she’s down to earth in how she views herself, thinking herself mostly average, including her height COLE!
.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale? 0 – She knows she likes men
.) Describe your character’s happiest memory. Layne’s happiest memory was when she was seven years old. Her father took her to a museum dealing with history and artifacts and spend the entire day with her. He let her sit on his shoulders, even after the museum guard yelled at him, bought her ice cream, and encouraged her love of history and treasure, even asking for the owner to let her see some treasures not on display yet, and giving her a lesson on artifacts as well. They spent the entire day there, and he bought her a survival pack and a hat that had a light attached! A big deal for a kid. At the end she was so tired that he carried her home while she slept.
.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why? I think there’s two in her life she would be more than happy to forget. The first, was the moment she had gotten and read the letter her mom had written, telling her about the destruction of Nabudis, along with her father’s death and brother’s disappearance. The second, on a lighter tone, was while on an adventure with Cole, sliding down a hole accidentally and landing on her butt so hard she broke her coccyx, which to this day he makes fun of her for. Definitely an embarrassing memory she would much rather forget.
.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower? Favorite Ice cream, would be Mint, color is blue, flower is a daisy.
.) Who does your character trust? She trusts her mother completely. Up to a point, I suppose Layne trusts Cole Pike and Chloe Frayzer, as they’ve been a part of her life for years. Though she doesn’t trust them in regards to money or treasure, she trusts that if she was in a pinch and needed help, she could send for them and they would come to help her, just as she would them. She tends to keep most of her thoughts inside though, and finds it hard to open up about things like her father’s death.
.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable. The turning point in Layne’s life originally was when she left her house in search of a more exciting life. Until then she had been largely sheltered from the world, and so being on her own, especially in a different country, really made her grow up and become responsible. The second turning point was when she heard that her father had been killed, and supposedly her brother as well. She went from an extremely carefree young woman, to a more mature adult, responsible now, for her mother’s safety and care.
.) Is there an animal you equate with your character? I’d have to go with an eagle. Layne loves to travel and if she could fly, she would. Along with that, comes a strong personality and a high metabolism, meaning that she generally wants to move and do something, either with her hands, eyes, or feet. It seems to come naturally to her to want to explore her surroundings and find new places of interest.
.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email? Layne is up with all the technological advances of her world, and finds it easy to adjust to a new product or thing she buys or gets.
.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep? Layne’s bed usually looks about the same as when she goes to sleep, with generally means that it’s not too messy. She sleeps on her left side, with her left arm under the pillow and legs curled up by her somewhat.
.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold? Layne grew up in a ‘normal’ climate, so it didn’t get extremely hot generally speaking, so when she moved to Rozarria, the heat took her by surprise very easily. Even after years of adjusting, Layne finds it hard to deal with the heat at times. Cold she can stand fairly well.
.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl? Layne is an average between the two, though she tends more toward a morning bird then a night owl, and is normally up with the sun.
.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative? Layne isn’t close to really any of her family, as she lost contact mostly after her move to Rozarria and the destruction of Nabudis. Again, she's close to Cole and Chloe, as they've grown up together.
.) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy? Layne is generally a neat person, keeping her house, personal appearance, and room clean, though when it comes right down to her actual workspace with artifacts, it’s messy, with pieces of paper and different things scattered through the place.
.) Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.) Layne can cook very well, a skill her mother forced her to pick up. Though at first she hated doing so, she grew to like it, and can actually put together some very tasty meals. Her favorite recipe would have to be plain old fudge mint bars, which her mom used to make while she was growing up.
.) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel? Layne loves flying, and has always felt a sense of freedom while she’s doing so. One of her goals eventually, is to get a pilot’s license and her own aircraft, which she’s working toward and has had a few lessons in the area.
.) Does your character have any irrational fears?
Clowns. I would definitely have to say clowns. And mimes as well. Can she please just pull out her gun and shoot them if they come close?
.) What would your character’s cutie mark be?
Whenever she’s embarrassed or shy about something, she’ll play with her hair, tucking strands behind her ear or fiddling with the back.
.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?
Back in time to before she left for Rozarria. She would beg her family to come with her, so her father and brother wouldn’t have had to get tied up in the destruction of Nabudis.
.) Is your character superstitious? No
.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be? Uh…a…man...definitely a man! I think he would have to be equally peppy and full of life to keep up with her active lifestyle. He would have to be physically fit to do so, and stronger than her. He would have to have a sense of humor, as Layne can be somewhat sarcastic, and…he would really have to be okay with living a somewhat crazy life, as she’s gone and traveling a lot. He would have to love history and adventure just as much, and that would involve traveling more than being a home body. But…he would have to get along well with old ladies and children, which is the best way to judge a man.
.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby? Layne has medium sized hands, with long-ish, strong fingers. She does have calloused hands, as she spends much of her time remaining physically active and using her hands (That doesn’t sound creepy at all) to do things such as pick at rock, move stones to get to treasure, and hang on the side of cliffs or cling to ropes in order to get places.
.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday. Layne immediately turns to caramel when she’s in a bad mood, or anything that has to do with the word ‘oreo’...really any desert. Her favorite type of clothing would definitely be shorts or jeans, tennis shoes/hiking boots for her profession, and button down shirts. She’s always been more of a tom boy then a girly girl. She loves hot honey vanilla chamomile tea, and her favorite season is spring, when all the flowers are blooming and it’s not deathly hot yet.
.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them. I..shall do this later
.) If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be? Rock music. Layne's life is generally lively and exciting, but it's had some rocky patches as well. I think the 'pumped up' feeling you get from listening to rock is the best way to describe her life.
.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne? Layne wears a lavender or vanilla perfume generally speaking, and so obviously she smells like lavender or vanilla most of the time. At other times, depending on how her hunt for treasure goes, she can smell like…well, musty or like dust or dirt. Generally speaking though, she smells fresh and clean.
