It was time to get going wasn’t it? Tifa wasn’t sure how exactly she’d gotten herself bunched up with a group of guys, but hey, it was much better than traveling alone, she knew that from experience. The last time she’d drifted alone during these cycles…she’d ran into Ultimecia, that was one battle she’d rather forget, or rather, the difficulties with Kain that followed. With her hands on her hips, the brunette looked around with wandering eyes, shifting a fist to rest lightly under her chin as she had the most serious of expressions on her face, trying to determine which way they should head first, it was nice to have someone else with experience on her side, but it was also nice to help get the new warriors that had been summoned right into the swing of things, not to mention one of those warriors in her group was Zack. That made it all better in her eyes.
Looking in the distance, Tifa could see a few of the glowing gates, as well as a few departing groups that were either heading towards the gates or the wandering manikins that seemed to wander through this realm between Order’s Sanctuary and the various worlds that were seemingly incomplete. With a small sigh escaping her lips, she wondered if she was going to have to take charge of these boys, to make sure they were behaving and what not. She knew well that Firion would take things seriously here, but she wasn’t sure about the other two. Well, no. She was sure that Zack was definitely a hero, but behaving? That was a situation of its own kind on a daily basis. She was sure to put on her ‘bossy mother’ attitude later if some manly roughhousing would be had…oh silly boys and their…boyishness.
Turning around towards the others that had sort of formed a group together, Tifa gave them a small shrug of her shoulders, dropping her hand that had been under her chin back to her hip. A smile was on her face, not really out of happiness, it was just her way, besides, the best way to get through these cycles seemed to be optimism, believing that you could accomplish something with all of this fighting going on, as hopeless as it seemed. “I think we should get going. Some of the wandering manikins keep looking this way, I’d rather we make progress instead of running into confrontation right away.” She said before taking a glance over her shoulder once more towards a gate that seemed to be ready to walk through, no one was around to walk into it before them…it was as if it were there for them. Turning her attention back to the boys in her group, she jabbed a thumb back, gesturing towards the gate as she felt a burst of confidence and leadership take over. “We can head that way and see what we find- are you guys even listening!?” she said before taking a step forward, both hands into fists as they were tightly placed against her hips, a stern look on her face as she was ready to give the evil mommy stare to anyone who wasn’t listening.

Well damn, he could handle this world if Tifa was here as well. His memories of just what they were had gotten clearer since he had actually seen her. When he'd been dragged here by the goddess Cosmos, he hadn't been able to accurately make sense of his own timeline in his life. Past memories had conflicted and collided with new until he hadn't been sure what was what. Through all that he'd thought there was some reason that she kept showing up in his thoughts and memories, which had seemed to smooth out now. As time continued on he was forced to make sense of his timeline and put the memories in the right place, his mind working to put everything as it should be. Well he had that better now anyway, since he realized now what was new memories and what wasn't.
Standing with a captive audience - though they were captivated by something far different from his story - Zack was telling a story, which just happened to be his turning into a l'cie. "And then that monster, must have been about four stories high-...well maybe five, grabbed me around the waist and zapp-" He hadn't been really paying attention, but when Tifa asked if they were listening sharply, it broke through his haze of concentration on his story. Blinking, Zack turned away from the two men that were by him to look at his girl, who looked thoroughly disgruntled with them. He gave her a smirk he knew she wouldn't be able to resist and took a few steps closer to her.
"'Course we're listening Babe.", he said while slipping an arm around her waist. Unfortunately, he realized that he at least, hadn't ben listening. Well damn, how was he going to cover that one over? He needed to try and twist it around so she'd repeat what she had been saying without hew knowing that he didn't have a clue what it was that she had actually said. Well that would be tricky, considering she was just about as sharp a woman as you could get. He blamed Marlene and Denzel for that, because they were kids, and obviously they would have made her develop those skills of seeming to know everything that was happening at any given time. It was a curse when you were trying to get away with something. Especially the cookie jar, he swore that she had that thing booby trapped. ...No pun intended. "But just to make sure I...heard everything, wanna tell us again?", he asked with a grin. Hopefully that led her off the trail! He was such a sly dog. ...Again, no pun intended.

Edgar had to admit that he wasn’t hating this new development at all. Of course he’d been a little irritated at first about the fact that he’d been yanked away from his kingdom without his permission, but as soon as he realized that his group of new companions consisted of mostly women, he had quickly changed his mind about whether he liked or disliked what had happened to him. He’d heard some of the women talk about husbands and boyfriends, and so he’d quickly steered clear of them into another direction. He didn’t need that sort of headache that significant others tended to bring along with them, so he just focused on the single ladies, of which there were always plenty, in his experience. He was sure some sort of creature of karma would reward him for not trying to get with the married women, and boy had he been right about that one, because the lady in his company right now was by far the most attractive of the bunch, from what he’d seen. Of course he hadn’t managed to get a good look at all of them, but hey, why keep digging for pearls when you’ve found yourself a diamond?
With his most charming smile, he gazed into the raven-haired maiden’s beautiful eyes as she spoke of where they should go and what they should do. Absent mindedly, he nodded his head along with the black-haired man’s story, not even paying attention in the slightest as he just focused on the only woman in their group. Though many would thing it, the fact that she was the only lady around didn’t bother him in the slightest. If anything, this meant he could shower her with his undivided attention rather than having to bounce back and forth between two or three people. “Why, of course I was listening, milady,” He told her smoothly, not at all feeling threatened by the fact the guy was slinging an arm around her waist. He simply assumed they were siblings. Both had dark hair, it made perfect sense, in Edgar’s current state of mind anyways. He shot her another charming smile, but then came to the horrifying conclusion that… he hadn’t actually been listening. He had been ah… mildly distracted by… something, that was a bit lower than her face at some point before staring into her eyes when he noticed she was about to look in his direction. Oh dear, just smile and pretend you know exactly what’s going on Edgar, you can do this. When has that tactic ever failed you?
Thankfully, the other guy hadn’t been paying attention either, and tried to subtly get her to repeat what she’d been saying. Edgar for his part just continued to smile innocently, shrugging his shoulders, supposedly at the woman’s brother for having not paid attention to her. Because he’d heard every word, yep, Edgar was a hypocrite sometimes. ---------------------------------- Words: 486 Tagged: Firion, Tifa and Zack Location: Dissidia Outfit: Usual Notes: I feel sorry for her already XD

Firion could genuinely claim he found what Zack was trying to tell him about his past experiences to be interesting, since he'd never heard of anything like super soldiers or copies of people or...all else he was telling them about. Firion had his own stories of fighting wars for his homeland and dueling with demonic emperors of course, but he'd never exactly considered himself much of a storyteller. So naturally he'd want to give what Zack was telling them about a chance, and Firion had managed to stick with his story for the first few minutes of it. With so many different thoughts and distractions filling his mind, though, daydreaming had become the main thing that Firion's mind could handle as he and the rest of the group, consisting of a man who strangely enough claimed to be a king, Edgar, and Tifa, whom Firion had known to be a part of the cycle before alongside him and who...proved to be....one of the distractions, to be quite honest, but only because he still wondered what was the point of wearing a skirt if it was going to almost be nonexistent anyway...
But uh, right, that wasn't the first thing on Firion's mind even if his eyes did accidentally linger in the direction of said skirt at the thought. What was really on Firion's mind - or more specifically, who instead of Tifa - was Maria. It still greatly bothered Firion that he'd had to opt to take his journey separate from her, but he knew why he'd felt compelled to do so. All he would do if they traveled together was worry about her and get distracted from the aims that both of them needed to accomplish while they were here. Yes, he would still worry without her around at all times in a place as dangerous as this one, but Firion knew a part of his duty was having to learn to trust her to take care of herself because she could take care of herself. Though he still thought of her sometimes as the girl that he'd tried to protect on their various adventures as children and younger teenagers, Maria was an accomplished archer now who'd experienced war as one of its primary soldiers on the front lines. Maria was probably safer than he was on most occasions. It was best that she find her own way of negotiating this cycle, he knew. Besides, being around her so much was constantly making him more and more aware of how beautiful of a woman she had become...and that realization was undoubtedly not the kind of distraction anyone needed with manikins and Chaos' troops to fight.
Firion bounced back from his thoughts only once he noticed Tifa, whom he may have still been accidentally staring at from behind (he wasn't sure), turn to face them with a not-terribly-pleasant expression on her features. Had he been...listening? Firion hadn't even been aware she was speaking. Finding it best to avoid meeting her gaze, he ended up with attention to Zack, who was approaching her and apparently trying to smooth things over, and to Edgar who gave a rather "white-teeth" response, as Firion had started calling it in his mind, to the brunette. Ah...he guessed that meant he had to say something in response too, didn't it? He blinked at her a few times, before speaking up. "I...didn't even realize you were talking to us, Tifa," he said honestly, with an apologetic shrug. "Can we try that one again?"
Assuming she didn't beat him in the side of his head or something. Martial artists and all.

Boys! Tifa should have known better than to start talking about a game plan when she hadn’t fully gotten their attention first. She sighed to herself, looking towards the group of males and shaking her head. Sooner or later she was going to have to knock a few heads together if they wanted to stay out of as much danger as possible. Yes, Tifa was assuming a leader-like role of this group, being the only woman, and the only one coming up with a plan, it just seemed to fit. Of course she wasn’t a dictator though, anyone could lead, they just had to put the effort forth, and so far, she seemed to be the only one that wasn’t distracted by Zack’s elaborate story – a true story at that – but still, she could see why it was gaining attention, but really…stories could be saved for later…during travel time.
Giving a huff of a breath as she had her fists tight and pressed against her hips, Tifa gave a narrow eyed look towards all three men, of course Zack being the first to try and smooth things over. She knew well enough that he was not listening whatsoever, he had been too busy telling his story. She had to try and keep that stern motherly look on her face as the SOLDIER neared her, slipping an arm around her waist, which caused her to sigh heavily and roll her eyes, especially at his last words. Again, she should’ve known better ahead of time. Shaking her head and glancing up at Zack, a hint of a smile formed on her lips. “I can tell when you’re lying, but I’ll give you points for trying to be smooth.” She felt her grin widen before turning her attention to the next speaker, Edgar was his name. A handsome king from…somewhere, and an obvious ladies man from the times of old, at least…that’s what they were to Tifa.
“And you, you weren’t listening either.” She said with a raised brow, a grin on her face. It was nice to catch people like this. Tifa had Marlene and Denzel around enough to know when someone was lying, it was easy to see it in someone’s face, even if they were smooth and cool about it. Just the tone and everything about the situation was easy to read. At least Firion, the next to speak up, was quite honest. In a nice way though. Tifa simply shook her head and sighed, slipping away from Zack’s arm and sticking her arm out, pointing towards the gate that still had its glowing pink colored glyph. “We should head that way. I spotted a couple of manikins wandering around, eyeing the group, and I think it’d be best if we got a head start now, rather than lose time fighting worthless hallow enemies.” She said before dropping her arm, looking to the guys and giving them the time to speak up, voice their opinions…and hopefully they’d been listening that time around, if not…knocking heads together, it was going to happen, Tifa was ready for it.

Zack hadn’t noticed anyone staring or being interested in anything aside from his gloriously spoken story, so as for right now, he had no problems with these guys. Unfortunately, he should have been paying less attention to his own story and more attention to Tifa, because, if he had, she might not be looking like she was going to chew them all out for not listening to her, or thinking that they hadn’t been listening to her. Because he was going to be the good one and get them out of trouble with her. She was a great woman, but he also knew they’d be in for a lecture if they did mention that they hadn’t been paying attention.
Thankfully Edgar, the one that claimed to be a king, followed suit and didn’t admit that he hadn’t been paying attention. Zack gave him an approving look. If there was one thing he did know, it was that you didn’t admit to a martial artist woman that you weren’t paying attention to her. She had a wicked right hook, so he’d rather not be getting her riled up, since he couldn’t very well just grab her and…distract her like he normally did. Well, he could, but he didn’t think that the guys would really appreciate it. A devilish little grin crossed his features for a second, while he slid his arm around her waist. Hell, who cared about two other random men? They could just look away if they didn’t like it!
Firion actually admitting he hadn’t been listening just made him frown toward the other man. Didn’t the guy know anything about being smooth? No…probably not. Great. A second later Tifa said that she could tell when he was lying. Oh sure! She’d only known because Firion had openly admitted to not paying attention. He blamed it entirely on the other man. He and Edgar were really going to have to teach him how to have a bit of smooth in his bones. And the sooner the better! Honestly, didn’t he understand anything about being smooth? No…probably not. Well shucks. They were going to have their work for them cut out.
Still slightly annoyed that Firion had given their cover away, Zack made sure to pay careful attention to what Tifa said this time around. Manakins? Sure, that sounded like a jolly old time! Yay getting to go figh-…okay, well he was just grumpy. “Yeah, we can move out. I mean, since we were all paying attention and whatnot this whole time.”, he said while he cleared his throat pointedly. Sure, he was still a bit sore that Firion had totally given away their cover. Oh yes…he and Edgar would really have to work on Firion and get him a little bit of abilities in the smooth department. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 643 Muse:; Goodish!
