Appearance
Standing at six feet even, Dyne is all muscle. Through rigorous training with SOLDIER and in his own desire to improve, his body has been honed to fighting perfection. His hair is long and silver, modeled after his hero who he aspires to be like, hanging down to around his waist and partially down his chest. His eyes are a brilliant blue, and glow as a result of his Mako infusion after joining the SOLDIER program, and they always seem to hold the hints of a smile to them. Unlike his hero however, he’s always quick with a smile or friendly remark, far more outgoing than the man he modeled himself after. His body is slim and athletic, more prone to feats of speed rather than strength, despite being fairly strong in his own right.
While usually seen in only one outfit, he has two that he might wear on occasion. His standard is a long overcoat of white leather, covering white cargo pants and a loose fitting white shirt. A white leather baldric crosses his chest to hold his sword at his back. His boots and belt are also of white leather, with the belt buckle showing the SOLDIER logo. His second outfit is his SOLDIER uniform that he almost never wears anymore. He does have two variations of the outfit however, his initial one he received on being promoted to Second Class, and one dyed white. It consists of black cargo pants and boots, with a red sleeveless turtleneck, with straps to hold his armor and weapons in place when they’re not in use.
No matter where Dyne travels, he always has a weapon close at hand as well. His most common weapon is his mithral bastard sword, but he still carries the sword he was issued upon his acceptance into the SOLDIER program as well.
Personality:
Despite modeling himself after his heroes, Dyne’s personality is far different from one of them. He’s always quick with a smile or remark, and still holds great pride for having been a member of SOLDIER, despite ShinRas reputation. He’s a kind hearted and gentle soul, always looking to help people no matter his own circumstance. Like Zack, he’s always trying to be helpful and encouraging to other people, laughing and joking with them and helping them follow their dreams. Like Vincent, he’s always out to do the right thing, to atone for ShinRa’s sins, no matter his own personal cost. And like Sephiroth, he’s always trying to find ways to help and protect the planet, albeit in a less apocalyptic manner.
Dyne is also a rather quiet person at times, finding himself be more at peace in the wilderness and solitude. He enjoys reading, always looking to expand his own knowledge and is always seeking to advance his own skills that he might stand shoulder to shoulder with his heroes. As such, it makes him a little rash at times, when he might rush into a situation without any thoughts of defense or safety. He also follows what he believes to be the way a SOLDIER should act. Kind and courteous, chivalrous and noble. He’s fiercely loyal and protective of his friends or the people he admires, and will gladly put himself in harm’s way to protect others.
History:
Born at Icicle Inn, Dyne was a healthy young boy. His parents raised him and taught him what they could, and he helped out around the time to make some money. The first few years of his life were easy, filled with mostly learning at home, reading, and playing in the snow. He never had many friends growing up, seeing them as more childish than he should be. He advanced early and often, constantly reading to expand his own knowledge and it made him act older than he should. As such, it often kept him distanced and separated from other children, even when he would try to reach out to them in the hopes of making some friends. He was always raised hearing stories of the world beyond as people found his home as a Resort, and it drove him to one day seek it out and explore. His favorite stories were those about ShinRa, and SOLDIER. Like many young boys, he always dreamed of joining them, and becoming as great as the hero Sephiroth.
When he was thirteen, he found his chance to leave his village and go out and travel. Turks members visiting his town had felt that he might have the makings of SOLDIER and extended the option to him to try out to join them. He’d always heard the stories growing up, and he wanted to see the places first hand. He eagerly agreed, and with his parents blessing, he was free to travel to Midgar to see if he might join SOLDIER. For the first few months, he was put through rigorous tests and examinations, and even some rudimentary training. He had been told that even if he didn’t make it into SOLDIER, he would have a job with ShinRa regardless. Determined to make it into SOLDIER, he gave everything he had in his tests, and managed to succeed. By the age of fourteen, he was a member of SOLDIER, third class.
With his induction into SOLDIER, he was given several injections ShinRa claimed were normal for immunities against the various contagions or viruses he might encounter. Unknown to him, one of them contained Jenova cells, as they had put into all their SOLDIERS. In addition to this, he was given an infusion of Mako, to augment his combat capabilities. It took some time to recover from that, but when he did, his formal training began. For the first few months, his body was rigorously honed and conditioned to be perfect for combat, and to adjust to the changes from the Mako infusions. During this time, he was trained formally with melee and ranged weaponry, and issued a basic sword like all members of SOLDIER. He still recalls the day with pride when he first donned his SOLDIER uniform, and couldn’t wait to write home about it. He quickly established himself as a solid and reliable SOLDIER, and many of his coworkers and brothers in arms took a liking to him. During his time there, he heard all about the famous SOLDIER Sephiroth, and began to model himself after him.
During his first few years working with SOLDIER, one other member stood out for him, and that was Zack Fair. Unlike most people, he’d managed to get a mentor from amongst the first class SOLDIERs, and went out of his way to encourage people to follow their dreams. While he and Zack never actually spoke or got to know each other, he felt a certain friendship for the man, as they were fellow SOLDIERs if nothing else. During the October of that year, the mass desertion incident occurred, though Dyne remained with ShinRa and SOLDIER. Later on the next year, he offered his congratulations to Zack as he became SOLDIER First Class, wondering if he’d ever make it to that level. By now Dyne was eighteen, and the events of Crisis Core are underway. Towards the end of his nineteenth year, the Nibelheim incident occurred, and Zack had gone missing, along with Sephiroth.
The next four years were rather dull for him, filled with standard work. He was deployed to various cities around the globe for various jobs working for ShinRa, getting his chance to do some travelling and visit the cities he’d always heard of. He’d get to take vacations here and there, spending time visiting the Gold Saucer or Costa Del Sol. Towards the end of his twenty fourth year, Zack Fair and Cloud Strife had reached Midgar after fleeing the ShinRa mansion, where Zack was killed, though he was unaware of the incident. It was around this time that things started becoming more interesting for him. It was during this time that Cloud and his party began chasing after Sephiroth. It was still business as normal for him, the highlight being his getting deployed to Junon for the inauguration ceremony for the new president of ShinRa. He remained in Junon after the ceremony, and was there when Emerald Weapon attacked. He managed to survive the assault, and ShinRa left him stationed there as the moved the canon from Junon to Midgar. The next series of events became common knowledge in time, as Cloud and his friends went into the Northern Crater to stop Sephiroth, though Midgar was destroyed regardless of their efforts.
He was twenty four when the events of Advent Children took place, and by this time he was no longer in the employ of ShinRa after its destruction. He’d visited Midgar during his wanderings and search for employment, paying his respects to the fallen in the fight against Sephiroth. He remained here for a time, enjoying a simple life before the remnants attacked Midgar, and Sephiroth made his resurgence. He was beaten back by Cloud of course, but during this time, he found something had awoken inside of himself, a deep seated urge to seek out Sephiroth. He’d heard that the legendary SOLDIER was dead, but he still set out none the less. He was twenty five when Deepground emerged from beneath the rubble of Midgar, to enter into a war against the WRO. Dyne had returned to Midgar, feeling himself drawn there and stayed around to fight. He learned quickly that Vincent Valentine, one of the men that had fought with Cloud was helping the WRO, and managed to learn more about him. During this time, Vincent became one of his heroes for his strong principles, and he began to take after him. He’d always believed in doing the right thing, but now he made more sense of it. It wasn’t because of any morality, though that certainly played a part, but he was driven by the sins of SOLDIER and ShinRa, and so he sought to make amends for them.
By the time he was twenty seven, he was still travelling around Gaia, noting the odd increase in monster attacks, and other strange creatures he’d never encountered before. He gathered what info he could when he would stay in towns, and it was this way that he learned what was going on. Strange things called L’Cie were arriving on Gaia, seeking its destruction at the behest of the Fal’Cie masters. Unable to stand for it, he gladly took up arms against them in his travels, fighting with everything he had. During it all however, he was still seeking out Sephiroth. Now, more than ever, he felt that the world actually needed him. He might’ve been driven insane, but he knew that Sephiroth would never let these things destroy their planet.
Abilities:
Mako Infusion- As a member of SOLDIER, Dyne has an infusion of Mako. This makes him; faster, stronger, more resilient and even enhances his intelligence. It also gives his eyes the distinctive SOLDIER ‘glow.’
Summons: None
Magic:
Restore Materia (Level 2/5)-
This grants him restorative abilities. The first one is Cure, for minor wounds. (Cooldown 2 posts). At tier two, he has Cure2, for moderate wounds. (Cooldown 5 posts)
Lightning Materia (Level 1/4)-
This grants him the ability to use lightning in battle. At level one, only Bolt may be used, a rather weak elemental shock, best as disrupting small machines. (Cooldown 2 posts)
Strengths:
Combat- Extensive Training with SOLDIER has made him quite proficient at hand to hand combat, and with swords and firearms, though he favors his bastard sword.
Mako Infusion- An infusion of Mako given all SOLDIER members. This makes him stronger, faster and more resilient than normal humans, and causes his eyes to glow with a soft green light.
Patience- Sero has great patience, useful in any situation. He can sit quietly for hours reading or listening to people speak. In battle, it allows him to measure his strikes carefully, letting his enemies tire themselves out before striking for a fatal blow.
Weaknesses:
Sense of Honor- Sero has a great sense of honor and even pride from serving as a SOLDIER. This means he refuses to ignore those in need and it can be used against him by any number of people that would wish to do him harm.
Brute Strength- Quicker than he is strong, enemies that favor brute strength could easily crush him if they manage to land a blow. Despite the Mako infusions, he’s not as powerful physically as many would expect of a SOLDIER.
Women- He just can’t say no. He has a certain streak of chivalry to him, and women especially are a weakness because he’ll give in to just about anything they ask, and will do whatever he can to help or protect them.
Weapon
Ragnarok- A mithril bastard sword with a cruciform hilt, plain and unadorned. On either side of the guard are two sockets for materia, with an additional two on the pommel, and a linked pair at the base of the blade. The hand and a half hilt is wrapped in white leather for the grip, and the blade itself is white and holds its edge without needing to be sharpened. Light from the material, it’s capable of being used one or two handed, and the strength of the blow changes accordingly.
Crushes: None

Role Play Sample:
Sirens wailed as Dyne threw himself from his bed. Disoriented, he stumbled around, pulling his boots and uniform on. He barely a pause to grab his sword, he dashed out the door, sapphire eyes pained by the sudden light. He grimaced, raising a had to cover his face so they could adjust, before seeing the ShinRa troops running back and forth. Far out across the water he could see the crest of a massive wave coming in, yet dismissed it as unimportant. He grabbed the nearest soldier dashing by, turning him to face him. ”Hey, what the hell is going on?” he demanded, trying to figure out why everyone was running. Had Sephiroth appeared? Cloud and his group? What the hell was happening? The soldier gave him a stare of disbelief before responding quickly, seeing the scowl crossing his face and noting the sudden glow of his eyes. ”Sir, didn’t you hear? WEAPON is attacking Junon!” he says hurriedly, before dashing off to rejoin his squad.
Throwing a second glance out at the water, he thought he caught the glare of something blue in the water, and it certainly seemed much closer now. He curses and dashes off to grab a rocket launcher as the others were falling into position on Junons tiered levels. He returns and skids to a stop, dropping to his knees and shouldering the weapon, taking position with two other SOLDIERS Third Class. ”Ready to reload!” he orders quickly, and they responded in kind. ”Spotter, keep an eye out for the signal to fire.” he orders. Soon enough, Sapphire Weapon crested the wave and emerged, towering high above them, even on Junons upper levels. He forces down his apprehension as his spotter relays the orders, and in unison with the other squads, he squeezes the trigger. The rocket flew straight and true, and his tube was reloaded before he could see that result. The ground shook as WEAPON smashed into Junon, unharmed by the barrage, and many of the troops scattered as the city defenses came on line, firing at will into the behemoth. Dyne held his ground as he fired again and again, determined to do everything he could. Much to his surprise however, the WEAPON had lined itself up perfectly with the Mako Cannon that he had assumed was offline for the move. The weapon roared to life, disintegrating Sapphire Weapons head, leaving it to sink to the ocean floor in ruin.
Dyne merely gaped at the sheer destruction caused by the cannon. So much power, to swiftly and effortlessly end the life of one of the planets guardians. Only one of five he recalled from the briefings, and he slowly rose. The lower levels had been flooded and the medical teams were waiting on the water to drain before counting the dead and helping the wounded. He wondered just how costly it had been to destroy WEAPON, how many of his brothers in arms had fallen to protect the city. Soon enough he knew, he’d be returning to Midgar with the cannon, but for now, he felt like he needed a drink. He grimaces as he walks away, leaving the other SOLDIERS to take care of the rocket launcher. He didn’t feel the need to concern himself with it, intending to find a bar and drink himself into a stupor. He knew it was his job to protect people, but what if the thing they needed protection from wasn’t WEAPON, but ShinRa itself? Why else would Sapphire have targeted Junon, except that ShinRa was here? Faced with that disturbing notion, he disappeared into the closest bar he could find, and soon lost himself in a drink. Maybe it’d have the answers he needed.
