Genesis Rhapsodos sat upon an old set of metal stairs. He was hanging around in the old building located just outside the old mako reactor. Pale blue eyes merely gazed out at the scenery that was displayed before him. The sun was just setting, leaving a brilliant gold display on all around. All this time, he had been asleep under Midgar during the events of Deepground. After Deepground had been defeated, Genesis had woken up. Now, it was time for him to take the mantle from his friends Angeal and Sephiroth. No longer could his friends be able to protect the planet. One was deceased and the other was looking to destroy it.
He had yet to see what new powers the goddess had given him. He knew that she had given him a second chance at life and had ceased his degradation. For that, he was eternally grateful. Ever since he had woken up from his own crystal stasis, his own will allowing him to slumber until there would come a time for when he would be needed, Genesis had been researching what was causing problems for the world. The Fal'cie weren't helping and neither were these portals. They were a major threat to the Planet. They had to be removed.
"The wandering soul knows no rest..."
Getting to his feet, Genesis stepped down the stairs and walked towards the metal grated platform. It didn't once bother him to know that he was in a very old building that could potentially collapse at any given moment. Here, here was where some old research papers had been harbored. Doctor Hollander had brought them here for him and Genesis to go through about Project G to figure out a means, back in the day, on how to stop the degradation process. All of their attempts had failed. The only attempt that had succeeded for Genesis was his battle with Zack before the old statue of the Goddess that held the Goddess materia.
Times had been rough back then. Genesis had become unstable at the time, hurt about how he had been created and how such a secret had been kept from not just himself but Angeal and Sephiroth as well. He had felt betrayed and turned rogue. He sought war against Shinra, which tried to recollect him or even kill him for the things he had done. Each time they believed they had prevailed, Genesis kept turning up. They could not kill him no matter how hard they tried. On top of it, it wasn't easy for them to get a hold of him considering he had turned most of the lower class SOLDIER into Genesis clones. Globally, he had them attack everywhere. All to find a cure to his degradation. Now that he had prevailed, Genesis found himself regretting the things he had done. It was because of him that Sephiroth went insane and Angeal had died. He had even killed his own foster parents which had actually come to love him as their own but he blamed them for not revealing that secret to him sooner and for betraying him like that.
Yes, Genesis was very much aware that he had much to atone for. At least, for now, he seemed to have made some amends with Zack. The two had fought a number of times in the past. It seemed they had reached a mutual respect for one another. If one needed help, the other would possibly voluntarily help the other. However, one could not consider them as friends. Friends would be stretching it. Genesis hadn't really interacted with Zack much in the past and he was no Angeal. Genesis was now a lone wolf. Where he had friends, he no longer had them and believed to atone for his sins, he would remain this way. He would protect the Planet from Sephiroth if he decided to attack the world again. After all, it was his fault that Sephiroth turned insane. Genesis did not once think that revealing the truth would have hurt Sephiroth so much. He didn't think that the discovery would have broken his mind. Genesis had been too centered on himself then and emotionally unstable at that time, almost borderline insane.
A sound reached Genesis's ears. Raising a brow, he turned his head to peer down towards the base of the building he was standing upon. Below, he could see anyone's approach. The room where the research papers were kept was easily accessible now that he thought about it. Still, why would he care? It's not like Genesis had to protect that information. Anything that would be taken was already known by Genesis. It would be no load off of his back if someone were to take them. Still, he had to wonder who would be reckless enough to even come here. Maybe it was just a homeless person seeking refuge for the night? Even still, Genesis was fairly certain one couldn't find a cozy enough area here. It was far too open to be used for something like a shelter.
