The young blond man that walked the halls of Rubrum's Magic Academy went by many titles. Warrior. Classmate. Student. Number Three. And, sometimes, he had the fortune of going by....
"Trey! Hey, Trey! Can you come here for a minute?"
....tutor. He'd been hoping to sneak his way through the classroom-heavy wing without any distractions. Just making a beeline for the school grounds with little fanfare, trying to keep from getting absorbed into the younger students' aura of helplessness. Not that Trey minded helping out some of the other students. Heck, sometimes he liked it. He just didn't want to today, for his own reasons. But he'd been caught, and a deal was a deal. He whirled around, short red cape branding him as a member of Class Zero shifting to his other shoulder as he faced the student that had called to him. "Yeah?" He answered, calmly, trotting back towards the young redheaded fellow that had called to him.
The younger student spat out something to him that didn't make any sense out of context, leaving Trey to stand there with eyebrows raised, trying to absorb all of it, before he finally ended the rant. "Whoa, slow it down a bit. You're gonna make my head explode. Then how can you get me to do your homework for you?" He answered, with a slight grin, to protests of 'You don't do my homework for me!'. "What subject is this, anyway?" Patience. One of Trey's stronger points.....usually. Today, however, the third designated student of Class Zero felt.....uneasy. Like bugs were crawling all over him. Maybe he just hadn't slept that well. Nonetheless, as the student held up a piece of paper to him, Trey tried to settle in and be of some kind of use.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Before the sound had even fully registered on him, Trey felt like a massive hand took hold of him and threw him off somewhere down the hallway, landing hard on his shoulder and sliding onto his stomach before he finally came to a rolling stop. A groan escaped his lips, but after the half-second it took for him to realize what had just happened, adrenaline swept the pain away like a cleansing rush of water. His eyes shot towards the younger student, finding him slumped up against the wall, unconscious though Trey could fortunately see his chest heaving. Several over students walking the halls had been tossed aside as Trey himself had, and were now slowly shoving themselves to their feet, a few sporting minor injuries. "Everyone alright!?" he called to them with a little less volume than he would have liked, getting a chorus of pained or fearful affirmations.
He started to push himself to his feet, but the sound of footsteps at the other side of the hallway drew his attention. Green eyes were filled with something between fear and rage when Trey realized who was coming, their uniforms and the military-like nature of their movements bringing the realization all too quickly.
Milite troops. In the school. In his school.
The young man scrambled to his feet, the fear dissipating as he reached over his shoulder for his bow. It wasn't there. With a desperate search of the surrounding hall, he saw it on the floor a few feet in front of him, the exact direction the Milites, who were already attacking the students at the other end of the hall who had emerged from their classrooms at the sound of the explosion.
Without hesitation, Trey possibly made the dumbest decision of his life, rushing right towards the Milites. "Everyone go! Now!" Some students moved to obey instantly, knowing that when Trey yelled like that, they should listen. Others lingered, wanting to help, but ultimately took off as well.
Trey met the first Milite right where his bow had fallen, rolling underneath a sword swipe (and feeling pain in his shoulder) before he could be cut down. Sweeping his leg into the Milite's knee, he sent him collapsing to the floor. Before the Milite had a chance to lash out at him, Trey had delivered a Fire spell to the man's exposed neck, ending any sort of counter the soldier might have made.
Before the rest arrived, as they were still dealing with students down on the other end of the hallway, Trey snatched up his bow and arrow and let out a yell to draw their attention away from the students. As they turned to look at him, Trey took up a bowman's stance and extended a now-glowing hand in their direction. Their motions sluggish, an effect of the Slow spell. Even in their slothfulness, they rushed at Trey, who held his ground and brought up his bow, unleashing arrows one after the other towards the troops with ease and grace. "You've all got two options! Die here at my feet or go around!" He yelled at them, his tone as serious as it could be. He sent an arrow into a soldier's cheek to prove the point.
This was now his hallway, and no one was getting past him until he was lying dead on these polished floors. Which, considering their numbers and his solitude, seemed somewhat likely.
