Gladiolus wasn’t stupid, he wasn’t oblivious to her pain, even if she wasn’t showing it, just by looking through the tear marks through her jacket was enough to make even him feel bad. That’s why he was concerned. She didn’t need to hide all of the pain away, he’d gotten himself hurt many times and people knew when it hurt, like when he’d punched that wall within that prison like building, the enemy headquarters that he and Kirtana had escaped from, she didn’t need to be void of emotion when it came to things like that, he wasn’t going to look down on her or see her any differently. She was still one of the toughest ladies he knew, if not the toughest, and most certainly the most stubborn, which is why they seemed good for each other, both stubborn and tough, it was kind of nice being able to not have to worry about the other one so much, knowing so long as you could handle yourself then they should be just as fine, but that wasn’t the point, point was, she was obviously hurt and he wasn’t going to take her masked face and buy it. So of course he did what any gentleman should do when a lady was hurt, he handed her the lance weapon and then scooped her up into his arms.
Grinning as she said his name, she was a stubborn one wasn’t she? Well lucky for Kirtana, Gladiolus was as stubborn as an ox, if not more stubborn than that. Once he had his mind set on something, there was no changing his mind, especially when it came to carrying a lovely blonde girl who was in dire need of help! Okay maybe not dire need, but it was important, it needed to be taken care of quickly and instead of egging her on with words, he just gave a little victorious smile, knowing he would win no matter what. He always did when it came to things like this, no matter who he was dealing with, and winning against Kirtana was definitely saying something. She tried to move and he knew that’d probably be hurting her more, so giving her a disapproving look he shook his head and sighed at her stubbornness, but he still wasn’t giving in. Even if she could walk perfectly fine, he was still going to do the chivalric thing and carry her around like some little princess, or something along those lines. But she was right, there was no point in arguing with him, and that made him grin even more. “And don’t forget it, little lady.” He spoke as he carried her back towards the small town they’d already been through, it was better than nothing and it was probably the closest place for awhile.
Inside the Inn, they’d gotten a few stares, that never bothered Gladiolus, they’d already gotten stares coming once through this town, now he was more concerned about the tear through Kirtana’s shoulder and after he set her down and started to get things situated, he felt a small wave of relief wash over him. He was starting to worry like a mother hen or something along those lines, but now as he was sitting close to her, just in front of her with a damp town on the table at his side, he gazed at her, wondering if she was really shielding the pain. “Hey, you never know what can happen with things like that! Did you even see those creatures? Foaming and what not…best get it taken care of first before traveling to any Baron city.” He said as his eyes went to the materials, then back to her, feeling a bit sheepish and shy for some odd reason. He was never fantastic with girls or anything when it came to things like this, them being hurt and what not, he could handle saving them…treating them? Not so much, but he’d do his best! He’d taken care of himself for many years now so obviously he’d been doing something right over the past few years seeing as he wasn’t dead. “Erm, thanks.” He spoke and half coughed as she had carefully removed her jacket and moved the strap of her top to clear the area of her shoulder which in Glady’s eyes, looked seriously painful. Covered in dry and wet blood, a few dark purple looking spots from where the teeth had bruised, yet not torn, her skin. Shaking his head, almost feeling a chill up his spine, he tried to put his mind in a different spot, a happy place as he was getting ready to seriously get up into Kirtana’s business and try and help her here…and hopefully she wouldn’t fuss over this, he doubted she would.
Grabbing the small towel and ringing the extra water out he leaned over and carefully placed the cloth over her wound, he hoped it didn’t sting too much, but frantically his eyes went to her face to try and see what she was feeling. After applying a bit of pressure to the wound not only to stop the bleeding but to help clean it as he went, he removed the cloth and dipped it in water again before dabbing at the wound, getting most of the blood off and cleaning it as best as he could. It was red tinted, swelled up a bit and still awfully painful looking, but it was the best he could do. Now came the really difficult part. That medical crap that had been set out for him, to sort of seal it and help fight off infections or something, it smelled god awful, but whatever worked right? They didn’t have much choice. Taking some of that onto the damp cloth and giving Kirtana a look, he gazed at her shoulder. “This might sting a little.” He spoke softly in the quietness of the inn, gently rubbing the salve over her torn shoulder he let air get to it for a moment as he started grabbing the gauze, the wrap that would go over the majority of it all, it’d help stop some of the pain and keep pressure against the wound. Glady sure was being a good doctor today. He started rolling the gauze around her upper arm and shoulder before tearing it, not needing the rest and making a tiny knot to keep it tight around her arm. She should be good to go, but fighting would be at a minimum for her, he’d make sure of that at least. “Feel any better?” he questioned as he sort of collected all the items together at the edge of the table, the barkeep came back and retrieved them, leaving a small towel for Glady in case Kirtana had some water drip on her arm or salve dropped somewhere, at least that as done right? It could’ve been a lot worse and even if he wasn’t a doctor, she’d gotten some medical attention at the very least, he was okay with that, but…still concerned for her well being. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1319 Muse: HELLA GOOD! “And don’t forget it, little lady.”
“How can I forget when you never let me get my way anymore?” Shaking her head, Kirtana sighed heavily, but stopped fighting then, simply remaining in his arms. Resting her head against his shoulder and closing her eyes, she thought about what he said. ‘Little lady?’ Kirtana hadn’t been called a lady very many times in her life. Usually she was Thrakena, or something along those lines. The difference is that she hadn’t been a lady. Mostly because she was too busy surviving in a field mostly full of men. She had not only survived too, but had grown in the rankings. At the end there, she had been to the point where she led the men, and they all knew to not only respect her, but fear her as well. Completely used to that fear now, Kirtana still found herself trying to do things the violent way, and now she seemed to be failing. Gladiolus didn’t let her, and she didn’t push it. For the first time in her life, she actually wanted to be feminine. Or more so then she had been before. Perhaps she wasn’t exactly a ‘lady’, but she was all woman anyway. It felt good, to be taken care of.
But she also didn’t know what to do with herself. She had always felt that being taken care of, having to be taken care of, was a sign of weakness. That feeling of being weak, she hated it. The weak were taken care of, the weak didn’t survive. Only the strong survived. That was the mentality she had gotten after a long time of surviving by herself. So what now? How was she supposed to let him take care of her, when it made her feel insignificant? Except that he seemed to thrive on being a chivalrous man, so she was just going to have to get used to this, she supposed. That might take some time for her to learn, but she thought she would be able to do so. Given time. Thankfully other then a few times –like how with him just picking her up- he was very good at giving her space and not rushing her. This was going to be a slow process. Perhaps one day she could be the feminine woman who had no problem letting her man take care of her. But right now, she couldn’t bring herself to think that way.
“Hey, you never know what can happen with things like that! Did you even see those creatures? Foaming and what not…best get it taken care of first before traveling to any Baron city.”
Kirtana couldn’t hide the smile that cropped up onto her lips. Sometimes she thought he worried more then a mother did. Though it did hurt, a gnawing at her shoulder, she did realize that if she let on that she was in pain, she was never going to hear the end of it. Gladiolus wouldn’t ever let her leave his sight if she let on that she was hurting as much as she was. Only a flesh wound, but sometimes those were the ones that hurt the most. She didn’t have the adrenaline either, that she’d had the first time she’d been injured. So she sat, gritting her teeth, before she realized that Gladiolus was watching her with a worried expression. Blinking, her face immediately softened and she tried to smile again, to reassure him.
“This might sting a little.”
After she’d taken her jacket off, she glanced down at the wound. Bloody and jagged, the wound had dried blood as well as flowing blood on it. Clearing her throat a bit, she raised her hand to prod at it, but dropped her hand back down, not touching it. That was probably the wisest option anyway. It probably wouldn’t get better if she touched it anyway. She was used to harming things, not fixing them. Then again, he probably was the same way. But he was the one with two good arms and a brain not fogged by pain. Feeling the cloth on her shoulder, Kirtana grit her teeth but didn’t say anything, waiting as he administered the help. As he cleaned it, she didn’t say anything, just watched him as he did so. He didn’t seem to like causing her any pain, which made her smile. He really was a good guy. The best. She didn’t deserve this good of a man. She remained quiet as he finished, with the gauze and the wrap, just continuing to watch him, to study his features.
“Feel any better?”
Nodding, she glanced down at her freshly wrapped shoulder. Without moving it, her eyes swung back to Gladiolus. Lifting her good arm, she wrapped her fingers around his neck, shaking her head. [color=indianred“Yes...you…stubborn man.”
Pulling him down again, she kissed him, before drawing back. “Will you let me walk now? Or am I going to have to submit again?” Raising her eyebrow, she slightly stroked his neck with her fingertips, before glancing around to see if the barkeeper was still there staring at them. He wasn’t. Well, despite the ache in her shoulder, she felt good. Now if only he would let her walk instead of acting like she was going to fall apart like a little flower. It was no secret that Gladiolus had a hero complex. For some reason he always went out of his way to help someone in need…this was a different case however, the person in need – no matter how much she denied it – was the woman he had fought hard to get. Whether it be against his own friends, her former life, or even his own crazy emotions, he’d fought too much to not worry about her. Hero complex did play a big role in it though. It only made him more determined to make sure she was okay, thus, he picked her up and carried her all the way back to the tiny town of Mist, which he knew very well wasn’t necessary. Just flashing the pretty blonde with a grin of his own he nodded slightly and shrugged, trying not to move her too much in his arms so her shoulder could rest for a bit. “Don’t be sour, just because you don’t get your way all the time doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. I mean really, how many people would carry you around like this? You should be enjoying yourself.” He said chuckling a bit as he spoke.
They really did come from two different worlds, two different personalities but in many ways, both of them had changed. Kirtana used to be a rough and rugged woman who wasn’t afraid of anything, he still believed her to be quite fearless and tough, but had someone else picked her up like this, they probably would’ve gotten a lance to the face, even if her shoulder was hurt, he would never doubt her…ever. And Gladiolus, he was so loyal to his friends, still was to this very day, but he’d sort of eased up a bit, opened himself up a bit and taken an interest into this girl despite what Ignis had said about her. Certainly his childhood friend got the point that Gladiolus didn’t really care…when he punched his FRIEND in the face, something Gladiolus still regretted doing, but he obviously was more than angry at the time…people should know not to piss off the strongest guardian of them all, at least physically speaking. Ignis had the smarts, Gladiolus had the strength and Prompto had….something, we aren’t quite sure what that something is yet, but in due time it’d show itself…maybe.
Gladiolus was no doctor but he was doing his best, he knew that bites and stuff from wild creatures wasn’t good, so getting it cleaned up and wrapped up before anything really bad came around was the best thing. They could stick around this tiny town for a little bit just to make sure Kirtana really was okay. Just because she was wrapped up now didn’t mean the pain was gone. He didn’t want her to hurt and didn’t want to push her to have to travel, although they did need to get home sometime, maybe they should look at this as a bit of a relaxation. They could take it slow and not have to rush to find Baron or this mysterious girl in green. No matter how long it took, they’d get home sooner or later, of that he was completely sure. As he glanced at her shoulder, it was all wrapped and medicated now, he felt a small wave of relief come over him. He didn’t have to worry as much now, he’d done his best and surely it’d start healing soon. He didn’t like seeing her in pain, even if she tried to hide it…he still knew from his own experience with injuries that not even the toughest of warriors could handle things like that. Teeth sinking into flesh was not a good mix, no one could ignore something like that.
After he asked her if she was okay, he had been pulled down into a kiss. Was she trying to convince him that she was okay? Well if she was she was doing a pretty good job, being affectionate and what not. Giving her a smile at her words, he raised an eyebrow, almost getting a mischievous look on his face as he then rubbed the stubble on his chin. “Hmm, I don’t know…depends on how I’m feeling at the time. I may just carry you the entire way if I feel like it.” He said giving her an even wider grin before looking around the bar. People were minding their own business, not really seeming interested in the new comers, which was alright with him! But he couldn’t help but want to stick around for a little bit before heading out into Etro only knows what and finding more horrible foamy beasts like the ones they’d just gotten done fighting. “Are you tired? Hungry? Thirsty?” he questioned Kirtana with a curious look as he sat back in his seat across from her, still very close to her. “We don’t…have to head out right away.” He shrugged slightly, hoping she wouldn’t protest all that much. This was for her own good, not his. He just…he didn’t want to see her get hurt again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 975 Muse: Great! Watching as he doctored her, Kirtana blinked, wondering how such a large, tough, brawny man like him could be so gentle. It was still amazing her, that gentleness. Unused to that feeling, Kirtana just sat and watched, not sure of how to respond. At first, she hadn’t been very good about this whole caring thing. She had tried, but after so many years of neglect in this area, it was hard for her. Still, seeing him be so gentle fueled her to be able to do the same.
If he, a guardian, physically towering over the rest, with big muscles, a sword, and the ability to use them with ease, could be gentle, shouldn’t she be able to do the same? It took a conscious effort, but it was getting easier. Just weeks before she wouldn’t have shown affection in the slightest. They’d had an agreement, and though she had had feelings for him, she hadn’t let them show. In fact, she would hide them at all cost. Now though, she could feel a femininity coming back to her. A side that was alright with allowing him to protect her. Sometimes it was still hard, but if she actually thought about it, then it was easier.
Perhaps some day she could be more like a normal woman. Kirtana wasn’t so sure if she wanted that or not, but only time would tell. She wasn’t going to fight the future. Gladiolus had walked into her life, the best thing to do so in a long time. Kirtana wasn’t about to let that go. She’d walked away before, which had been a huge mistake. She wouldn’t walk away again. Gladioulus was a guardian yes, but he was quickly becoming her guardian as well. Never having someone that would care about her, she found it somewhat hard to adjust, having someone there. Still, it felt so nice to have someone that gave a damn. She didn’t think she deserved it half the time, if not more, but more and more she was learning to actually enjoy it, instead of feel awkward with the compassion.
“Hmm, I don’t know…depends on how I’m feeling at the time. I may just carry you the entire way if I feel like it.”
Staring at him, Kirtana found that she didn’t doubt his words. He was strong, physically and mentally. If he said something, she had no doubts that he meant what he said. So the kiss hadn’t taken his mind completely off being a worried mother hen? She felt almost overwhelmed, that he would take the time, and care, despite what she had put him through. “Would you actually do that…?” Glancing at him again, she sighed when she saw the look on his face. Of course he was being entirely honest when he told her that…of course. “Gladiolus how many times do I have to tell you that I’ll be okay? I can walk on my own. You don’t have to worry about me so much, I’ll be alright.” Pausing, she looked away and down at the floor. “I’m not used to someone worrying…”
“Are you tired? Hungry? Thirsty?”
Giving him a little smile, she had to admit he got an A for effort in trying to take care of her. She…didn’t need to be taken care of, she didn’t think, but…it felt nice. “I’m alright for now.” Kirtana felt the ache in her shoulder, but smiled at Gladiolus, her blue eyes steady. She was a good liar, especially when it came to pain. She didn’t want him worrying, and so she hid the pain, masking it over well. For some reason though, her body felt warm. …So warm. Not exactly classified as ‘burning up’ or anything like that, but still warm, warmer then usual. Was that just because of the exertion? Shuddering once, almost like a chill went through her, Kirtana blinked, before looking down at her hands, settled onto her lap. Her head felt weird, like she was lightheaded and couldn’t seem to get out of it, a fog that she couldn’t cut through. Why? She shouldn’t be feeling quite this…odd. Lifting her hand, Kirtana pressed them to her forehead, feeling warm. Clearing her throat, she finally sat back in her seat, looking over at Gladiolus. “I’m…I’m fine, really.” Was she trying to convince him? Or herself? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 959 Muse:; Great! Tagged:; Gladiolus! :3 Location:; Mist Outfit:; ClickehNotes:; :333! Listening To:; Garth brooks

Call it what you want, hero complex, sensitive, or just a guy who cares far too much, Gladiolus didn’t care what anyone said, he just wanted to make sure Kirtana was okay. Had someone like Prompto been shot or something, Glady would’ve showed concern, but he wouldn’t have carried the guy anywhere, Kirtana was a bit more…not important, she was just AS important, but she was…a woman. Don’t get me wrong, he knew she was a tough broad, but it made him a bit more…heroic whenever a woman was hurt, especially in battle since he felt the need to protect ladies whenever danger was near. So yeah, he probably seemed a bit too concerned, but he was at least he cared, that was all that mattered. Knowing Kirtana, she probably wouldn’t be used to the attention and worries whenever she got a wound, well, that was something she’d have to get used to. If she ever got hurt again, he was probably going to run around like a worried mother hen then as well. The only thing that made this one worse than anything else was that they were on a completely foreign world. He had no idea when the next town would’ve arrived or what supplies they had for tending to these wounds….he just hoped it was enough.
With a smug grin on his face, he knew very well that if he wanted to he could carry Kirtana around like a princess, but he figured he’d throw her a bone and let her walk so long as she insisted she could do so without problem, but mark my words, at the faintest sight of discomfort, it was off her feet she would be if Gladiolus caught it in his gaze. He was a big teddy bear in real life, but still he maintained a great intimidating look that still worked in his favor. Of course he could be quiet and dark if he wanted to be, only when the time came for things like that, he couldn’t live life being a serious stick in the mud, no those roles were already filled, he needed to be fun, smile and joke around, he and Prompto filled the fun loving roles within the gang. So of course he was going to be his usual pleasant chipper self around Kirtana, and she was going to have to get used to the fact that someone did indeed care, it was much different than what she had before, at least that was Gladiolus’ assumption.
“Of course I would! Don’t doubt me, and don’t tempt me to do so.” He shrugged with that grin still on his face as he looked at Kirtana, making sure she knew he wasn’t kidding around…but the grin he gave her also went to show that he was just trying to be a bit lively. And just as suspected, she wasn’t used to having anyone worry, which caused him to shake his head and run a hand through his hair before sighing, his smile dying down some to something sincere and less playful. “Yeah, I understand, but you’re gonna have to get used to it, Kirtana. It sure beats not having anyone to care at all right?” he thought that would be the case, he didn’t like going into ‘crazy mother hen’ mode, and he never really realized when he was doing that, but hey, it beat being tossed to the side and forgotten, especially when you were in pain, and no matter how well Kirtana tried to mask the pain, he’d be able to see some form of discomfort in one place or another. Glady wasn’t going to stick on the topic forever though, if she insisted she was okay, he may take her word for it until there was some form of physical proof that told him otherwise.
…and there it came.
The shiver she had, putting her hand to her forehead, Gladiolus arched an eyebrow at her and gave her an ‘are you telling me the truth’ sort of look as he folded his arms, staring at Kirtana and wondering what it was she was actually feeling or thinking. She had to be hurting no doubt, but she wasn’t whining, so that was good, at least she knew how to suck it up, just as he did. He still couldn’t feel as if something more was wrong though, but whatever. They needed to get going, even though he stated that they didn’t have to leave right away. It was best to cover ground while there was still light outside, he wasn’t sure how far this ‘Baron’ was, but he figured that it’d be best to get a head start now. “If you’re ready to go, I am.” He said standing up from his seat and waiting for Kirtana. He kept a close eye on her though, wondering if she really was okay, or just masking it…it was most likely the latter, but he couldn’t do much more. She was a stubborn one, and if he saw another sign of faulty ‘I’m okay’ from her, he’d sweep her off her feet again, no ifs ands or buts about it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 982 Muse: Great! [/img] “Of course I would! Don’t doubt me, and don’t tempt me to do so.” Tempt? Doubt? Kirtana didn’t think she would doubt him ever again. From personal experience, she could see he definitely wasn’t one that wouldn’t complete what he said. Everything he had ever told her he would do, he had done. Taking a deep breath, Kirtana held her arm as still as possible, glancing up at him and shaking her head. “As for the doubt, I don’t ever doubt you anymore. I stopped doing that when you told me you were going to move the pillar off my leg by yourself…and you did.” Back then, when she had thought he would kill her, Kirtana had been amazed at the strength he had possessed, being able to push that off of her. Not only that, but he hadn’t looked like it had taken any effort whatever. “As for the tempting part, I see no temptation at having to drag me around. I’m sure your arms would get tired.”
“Yeah, I understand, but you’re gonna have to get used to it, Kirtana. It sure beats not having anyone to care at all right?” Was she ever going to get used to it? Perhaps. Some days she felt like she would never get used to it. Ever. Not only was it a completely foreign idea that someone would care, but it had been so long, that she not only wasn’t sure what to do when affection was shown, but was weary of it. Weary that the ‘affection’ could turn out to be nothing but someone taking advantage. He wasn’t that type, but she had known plenty like it. Plenty of people that would do jut about anything for what they wanted. Most of them, in fact. Kirtana disliked all of those people. When you couldn’t accomplish what you wanted yourself, or get it yourself, then you had a problem. Kirtana got what she wanted, most of the time, but it was mostly through hard work and determination. Nothing came for free or easily. If you wanted something, you would have to get it yourself.
“I’ll never get used to it Glady.”
A moment later Kirtana wasn’t thinking so much about affection or what it meant when someone did show affection. No, instead, Kirtana was realizing jut how hot she was. Breathing had become a bit more shallow, but nothing that freaked her out. All in all, Kirtana felt fine, especially considering. A bit weak, with a burning shoulder and too hot, but other then that, she felt nothing bad. Hopefully the burning in her shoulder and the hotness would go away soon. Luckily the wound was in her left shoulder, and so she could easily wield her weapon if needed.
“If you’re ready to go, I am.”
Nodding slightly, Kirtana rose to her feet, lifting her blue eyes to look at him, a set expression on her face. She hated feeling weak, and so she wanted to do this by herself. “I’m ready.”
--------------------------Hours later, on the road-------------------------
After walking for hours, Kirtana felt herself becoming weaker, the aching in her shoulder hurting more with every jarring step, and a burning that had seemed to spread to her entire body. Blinking her eyes rapidly, Kirtana tightly gripped her weapon, focusing on the path in front of her. Trying to walk without wobbling was harder then it looked, but she was managing to do it…so far. Reaching up to rub her eyes, Kirtana missed a rock in the path and tripped over it. With a little ‘whoosh’ of breath, Kirtana stumbled, managing to right herself. Standing with her feet spread, she hung her head slightly, trying to ward off the feeling of dizziness and exhaustion, her face drawn. Something…wasn’t right.
Something really wasn’t right. Coughing, Kirtana finally lifted her head. “Gladiolus, wait.” Blinking to ward off the feeling that had come over her, Kirtana felt a few shudders run through her body, making her tremble there. “Something isn’t right.” Whispering that out, Kirtana felt her knees weaken. Body twitched, and for a moment, she felt like Thrakena. A vision of the commander flooded her vision. Taking a quick step back, Kirtana tripped over another object in her path and this time fell to her knees. Kneeling there, she lay one hand on the ground, resting on her palm and one bend knee, her sword embedded into the ground, hand gripping it fiercely, body quivering as the heat spread through her body.

Post by Gladiolus (Scar) Cicatrix on Mar 13, 2012 4:28:13 GMT -5
Gladiolus looked down and away from Kirtana as she spoke. Remembering that day wasn’t hard at all. He’d thought about it quite a bit actually, ever since the day he’d met Kirtana he’d thought about it. He’d been pondering for a long time now whether this was right or wrong, this being them, but after his rage fit with Ignis…after escaping the military base with Kirtana…he had discovered that he did have true feelings for her, and he did trust her, no matter what even his childhood friend had to say on the matter. Shaking his head and waving a hand briefly, he tried not to let the somewhat pleased grin work its way onto his face, but somehow it did. “It wasn’t that heavy…” he said very quietly, almost a whisper, but loud enough for her to hear since he was sitting near her anyways, but even so, it was a lie. The pillar had been heavier than anything he’d tried to move before, but somehow, he’d gotten it off of her, and he never regretted saving her life, not now, not then, not ever. “If I can move a pillar, I can certainly carry your around for long periods of time, best remember that…missy.” He said in a matter-of-fact tone as he went back to the name he had started to call her after they first met. Missy. Oh the good old days…of…not that long ago.
She really would have to just suck it up and deal with the fact that someone cared. Someone would be around to protect her, just like he had promised her when they’d gotten locked in that closet together. He was still sticking to that promise, even now…it hadn’t been all that long anyways, so of course it still applied here. Yet alas, he wasn’t doing a great job so far. She’d gotten attacked by those creatures that foamed at the mouth, she’d gotten hurt and it was obvious to him. He had been worried about protecting himself and keeping the weird canine creatures off of his own body and sort of lost track of the blonde girl he’d promised to protect. Some guardian he was turning out to be, huh? He didn’t say much after that though. Her comment sort of brought the seriousness out of him and just made him start to feel a bit…horrible. If that was even the right word to describe it, maybe guilty was a more accurate word?
Then again maybe not.
All he knew was that he was supposed to be keeping her safe. Former Soldier or not, a tough stubborn lady or not…he’d made a promise and was a man of his word. From now on, Gladiolus would handle the monsters and baddies that came their way along this…adventure. Bandits, fangs, no matter what they were, he’d smack them down before Kirtana had the chance to get that lance-sword of hers ready. He’d confirmed that in his mind as he stood up and gazed at her, nodding as she said she was ready to go as well. They’d need to start making some good time if they wanted to hit the next town…whatever it was, before reaching this Baron place and this famous girl in green.
~~~~~~~~~~LATER~~~~~~~~~~
Gladiolus had been pretty quiet as they continued onwards. He took point though, so he could watch the things up ahead and make sure no danger came to himself, but mostly so no danger came to Kirtana. He didn’t want a repeat of what happened earlier, next time it could be worse and he hoped there was no next time. If anything, he’d take the hits for her, he’d let her sit back, relax, and stretch her legs a bit while he went in like some super hero to save the day and clear a path for her. Whatever he could do, he’d do it. Folding his arms and just letting his dark eyes remain on the path ahead and anything else surrounding them, his face was pretty much void of all emotion. This was the really serious and determined side of Gladiolus that not many people had the opportunity to see. Normally he was a lot of smiles, a few jokes here and there and of course the infamous smart remarks or clever comments that he had to throw at Prompto every five minutes, but this…this was just pure silence. Or at least it was until…
‘Gladiolus, wait. Something isn’t right.’
Those words made Glady turn right around as he caught her coughing and saw her fall to her knee. She didn’t look so good. ‘Damn it.’ He’d thought to himself as he quickly walked over to her, kneeling down on one knee just as she was, he carefully and gently placed a hand on her good shoulder and tried to figure out what was wrong. Had the walk gotten to her? The wound maybe? He knew she should’ve eaten or drank something before they went. She might be dehydrated, or be getting sick, or perhaps this was a heat stroke! He was starting to worry all over again, like a mother hen or even worse, if that was possible. Shaking his head and gently squeezing her shoulder, he lowered his own head to try and be eye level with the blonde, his eyes frantically searching her face, wondering what was wrong, why she’d started coughing and told him to wait. Something was wrong, and they needed to find someone or something to help them. The nearest town…he’d carry her there if he had to, and pretty soon no matter what she said, he’d be carrying her around everywhere. “Kirtana? Are you okay?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1098 Muse: Great! The heat that spread was making her quiver uncontrollably. Having fallen to her knee, Kirtana’s head hung low, trying to get some air into her lungs. That wasn’t going so well for her, as she dragged in breathes, the dizziness took over her body. The nausea hit then, and closing her eyes, the blonde, so strong and independent, knelt, a broken figure. Everyone hit their end at some point, but could this be hers? Perhaps she should have accepted the help he had offered to her previous. That would have been the wise choice, but her pride had gotten in the way. Even now, her pride was there, gnawing at her. Shaking there, shivering, the young woman remained as still as possible, not wanting to move. Not having the strength to do anything but kneel and try to regain any composure she could possibly get.
And then something flickered through her mind. A vision. Lifting her head, eyes registered, not on the large guardian she had come to have feelings for, but her commander. The man that had ruled her life for years, who had controlled her, had sent her on missions. He was the man that had taken everything from her, and he was here now. ‘Your mission, don’t let them destroy the base. Dispose of the guardians.’ Shaking there, Kirtana nodded quickly, her gaze caught on his eyes as he stood over her. The worried look of the man that was actually there was replaced with the sneer she could remember so well. It took over his face, but he wouldn’t deny his request. This was her job, this was what she was meant to do. She knew it.
“Kirtana? Are you okay?” Snapping back to ‘reality’, Kirtana’s eyes held a hard glint. Taking deep breaths, she felt her body trying hard to regain itself. This was the guardian, he had told her to dispose of him, as well as the other two. Baring her teeth slightly, her daggers for eyes glared at him, noticing that he had his hand on his arm. The words he had spoken didn’t register in her brain, but she knew that she felt pain and that he was in front of her. Obviously it had to be his fault for the pain. She had to dispose of him. This was her mission. The base depended on her. Growling low in the back of her throat, Kirtana jerked away from his touch, stumbling back, tearing her sword from the ground and standing a few feet away, crouched down and ready for the attack.
“Don’t touch me.” Hissing that out, her blue eyes raged with a burning emotions. Glaring at him from the few feet of distance, Kirtana’s hand clasped her sword, before she slowly straightened back up. “Destroy the base, I can’t let you destroy the base.” Growling that out, Kirtana would leap toward him, except for the weakness she felt in her body. She needed a moment to recover. Finally she found it. Snarling under her breath, the woman watched him with steady eyes, like a cat stalking its prey. “You’ll die here.” That came out of her mouth right before she leapt at him, twirling the sword she held in her hand. Time for the guardian to die! Eyes held an odd light then, as if she was going insane, not the deadly, yet in control look she had held the last time she had attacked him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 9783 Muse:; Great! Gladiolus really should’ve been more careful when watching over Kirtana earlier, he should’ve stepped up and taken charge, saying that they should’ve waited to see how the bite would affect Kirtana in the long run. Instead, he’d been far too focused at the time on getting home, not to mention she insisted that she was fine…but obviously now looking at her, she was far from that. Kneeling in front of her, trying to get a good look at face, the expression on Glady’s face was just…worried as he had a hand on her shoulder, but her silence left him even more concerned. Normally she would’ve just been stubborn or something like that, but here she was…silent and he didn’t like it. It was making him anxious, as if he needed to shake her shoulder or something, but he refrained from doing that, if Kirtana wasn’t going to answer him though…then he’d resort to picking her up and carrying her off as quickly as possible to the nearest town, wherever it was.
Her words though, the tone of voice was far from her normal one, it was just…full of hatred and disdain, and as she ripped her shoulder away from his grasp, he pulled his hand back at the same time, as if he’d been burned or something. Now Gladiolus was really questioning, had he crossed the wrong line? Or was she just angry with how bad she was feeling? Kirtana’s moves only frustrated him even more. She was up and had her sword, claiming he couldn’t destroy the base, what…the hell? “What are ya talkin’ about!?” He said raising to his feet, yet he didn’t step back or forwards, leaving Kirtana in that space she’d given herself from him, but no matter how confused he was, it was like a sense of déjà vu was smacking him in the face. This reminded him of their first meeting when he infiltrated that base in the Caelum Kingdom, he’d gotten a few files wondering what they were up to and in the end Kirtana had gotten some good hits against him, especially the heal of her boot to his head…what was so similar, the fact that Kirtana’s gaze looked nothing like it had before, or the fact that she was speaking like a mad woman who had no idea where she was or what she was doing.
Again, what the hell?
‘You’ll die here…’
WHAT. This was far too familiar, and Gladiolus wasn’t sure what to do, he simply watched her for a moment, eyes cautious and never leaving the blonde as he was feeling a strong twist in his gut, wondering what the hell was wrong with her. It finally occurred to him that the bite must’ve had something to do with it. Foaming animals was never a good sign, had Kirtana lost her memories of Gladiolus or was she just going insane? Whatever it was, Gladiolus didn’t like it nor had he ever heard of anything like this before. Thinking about it all would have to come later, as she leaped towards him and twirled her sword around, Gladiolus scowled a bit and put himself into a defensive mode, feeling the hilt of his greatersword entering his hand as he had summoned it and pulled it up to block any attack as he stepped back, steering clear of her landing area and just being ready to block any other attacks she’d feel like sending his way.
Her eyes…they weren’t the same, even though last time she’d attacked him, she had that mask on, he could just tell this was different, they weren’t as controlled and determined as before, these were…not the same. “What the hell is your problem, Kirtana? I didn’t do anything to you and now you’re acting like a mad woman, huh, history begins to repeat itself.” If he could wear her out at least, which probably wouldn’t take long due to the wound, then maybe he’d be able to get a hold of her and carry her off to get some help. There was no way he’d be able to talk her into just trusting him and what not if she was in that former state of mind of him just being ‘the guardian’ that she needed to eliminate. Whatever, Gladiolus always liked challenges, this may be his greatest one of all.
It was always nice when the girl you loved tried to kill you, and not for the first time either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 876 Muse: Good! Tagged: Kirtana! “What are ya talkin’ about!?” With a smile that was murderous, unfriendly and completely cold, Kirtana glared at him through eyes that blazed with something almost inhuman. He thought that he could get away with this crap? Did he really think that he, a mere guardian, could outsmart her? Pathetic. He would never outsmart her, nor would he ever beat her. He would die here. As the sickness spread through her body, her body temperature went up and a deadly, yet completely insane look started to flash in her eyes. Sanity had fled from her own being, combined with a persona she had never had took over. Crouching down, Kirtana had no idea why she felt so weak, or why she was so hot, almost like something was taking over her body. Seeing no other threat however, Kirtana decided that the reason for her discomfort must be the tall guardian in front of her. “Don’t play your games guardian. They won’t work.”
Words were useless, it was time to take action. With a grunt, Kirtana launched herself at the tall man. Passion blazed in her eyes, creating a fiery depth. She hadn’t seen any weapon, and had thought he would be an easy target. A split second before her sword would have made its way through his flesh however, a sword was summoned. Slamming into the heavier metal, Kirtana fell back with a grunt, falling to her knee. Head bowed once more as she panted heavily. Even that small amount of effort had spent her completely. Quivering and kneeling there, she closed her eyes for a moment before raising them up to see him again. The flame within her felt like it was burning her from the inside out. With a puzzled look, Kirtana knelt there, wondering what was happening to her.
“What the hell is your problem, Kirtana? I didn’t do anything to you and now you’re acting like a mad woman, huh, history begins to repeat itself.” That shocked her slightly. Panting and kneeling there, Kirtana watched him like a cat. “How do you know my name?” Demanding that, Kirtana moved sharply to her feet, a jarring pain shooting up her body. Grunting slightly under her breath then, her hand clasped at her shoulder, before drawing it back, her hand bloody from the wound she had reopened. She had no recollection of obtaining a wound…but that had to be him as well. He had to have harmed her. Narrowing her eyes, Kirtana looked up from her bloodied hand, to glare at the man standing there telling her that SHE was mad. Hell, how would he know?! It wasn’t as if she knew him in the slightest. This was the first time she met him, how would he know?
Flipping her sword up, Kirtana wondered again at why she felt so weak. Her body was trembling, and she herself was barely able to stand properly. What had he done to her? Finally looking up at him, she bared her teeth in a growl function and spoke through clenched teeth, hissing the words at him. “What have you done to me? I know you caused this burning within me. What was it? What have you done?” Shaking it off, she stumbled to the side before righting herself and glaring at him from where she was standing. “Caelum dog.” Snarling that out, Kirtana lunged for him once more, the murderous look back in her eye.
This was not on today’s agenda. Then again, neither was going through a portal in the first place. Everything about today had been a mistake, a spur of the moment decision and already it was taking a turn for the worst. It really was like their first meeting, but something about Kirtana wasn’t stable at all. The first time he’d met her, the time he’d gone snooping for the Caelum family’s sake, he’d noticed she was in control, very focused and very…very sane. The look in her eyes told him otherwise, like someone was messing with her head, and obviously it was something recent, otherwise he would’ve picked up on some insane traits beforehand. “My games? You’re really losing it, aren’t you?” He said as he shifted back a bit, wondering when she would try and leap for an attack, it was something to be expected of a fiery dragoon like her, especially in this weird state of mind…and it only frustrated and confused Gladiolus even more. It was that bite, it had done something…but how could a flesh wound like that have altered someone’s personality and thoughts like that?
He was no longer Gladiolus, or Glady, in her eyes. He was just the guardian once more. No matter what he was to her, he was still everything stated. Gladiolus, a guardian, and he would defend himself without harming her as much as he could afford, but if she was gonna go around and strike deathblows to people, he needed to be able to defend himself, and seeing as she was already faltering, it wouldn’t be that difficult. As she had leaped, Glady summoned his greatersword, it’d blocked an attack that really could’ve been quite nasty in the end, so luckily for Glady, he was able to take care of himself and remain on the sane side of things, rather than end up like Kirtana, or whoever she thought she was right now, whether it be the blonde he knew as Kirtana, or the former soldier known well as Thrakena.
He’d called her out by name which seemed to puzzle her, and in the process of puzzling her, it confused Glady as well. It was as if she had never met him before, simply knew him as the guardian of Prince Noctis and the crystal his kingdom had possessed. Well, if that’s how she thought things were at the moment, he couldn’t help that. He just needed to make her realize that he was no threat to her, even if she was trying to attack him. Obviously she would not be open to talking and reasoning, if she wanted to fight until he succeeded in striking her down – with as little damage as possible – then so be it. “I know your name because we’re…friends. But you obviously don’t remember.” He said with a careless shrug, holding onto his greatersword and resting it against his shoulder with one hand. Just because he blocked one attack easily with the appearance of his weapon didn’t mean she’d go down that easily, he knew her far better than that. Kirtana, whether she was sane or not, was far from easy to take down. If anything, she was quite persistent when it came to a fight, he’d witnessed that first hand, and gotten to feel a bit of the danger and pain she could inflict.
Shaking his head, Gladiolus figured it was useless to respond to her, but it only confirmed his thoughts on the bite that was doing this to her. Something had to be doing this to her, and it wasn’t him, it wasn’t like a heat stroke or anything like that, the only logical idea could be that bite she’d received. It’d made him feel worse on the inside, knowing he either messed up when trying to wrap up her wound, or the fact that he didn’t protect her as it was. He’d made that promise to her, that he’d protect her as well as protect his values…like Noctis and the crystal, he was really stretching himself thin these days, whether it be fighting for the Caelum kingdom or fighting verbally for his girl, the one that was one again trying to kill him. If this was going to become a routine thing, he wasn’t sure he was going to be happy. Judging all of this though, it was a fluke, it had to be, somehow he needed to get her down and get her to cooperate. He needed some sort of help, medical attention for her…but there was one problem. He had no idea where he was, where he was heading, nor did he know how close the next town was. How was all of this going to be possible? Well, however it was going to happen, he needed to figure it out quick because here comes another attack…
Moving quickly and almost ducking the lunge that came towards the larger guardian, Gladiolus moved his sword and pressed it against her lance-sword weapon, placing it between herself and the weapon. Smirking a tiny bit, he tugged his arm back to rip the lance away from Kirtana and out of her grip, disarming her was easy when she was weak like this, not that he enjoyed exploiting her weakness at this point, but you did what you had to do. Gripping both his sword in one hand and her weapon in his other, Glady took a step back from Kirtana, showing that he wasn’t going to take advantage of her being disarmed, he didn’t what to hurt her. Maybe now she’d stop and realize that he was no threat to her, but knowing her persistence, he simply shifted so that she had no choice but to stay where she was, pointing his greatersword at her and holding her lance back, he gave her a serious look. “I’m not going to hurt you.” It all was nothing but a huge smack of déjà vu. If she would cooperate now…it’d be a lot easier to get things done…he just hoped there was enough time to get it all done before this bite did anything more to her than it already was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 1167 Muse: Great! o.O Tagged: Kirtana Wearing: >> Click<< Listening To: What Have You Done: Within Temptation Notes: I call this a success
Kirtana growled out in anger toward him. Her eyes were wild in appearance. There was something wrong about her. Something that wasn’t right at all. The burning in her body worried her. She had no idea what was wrong, but something told her that this man in front of her had something to do with it. If she had just looked around, logic would tell her that they weren’t in the Caelum Kingdom, and there was no base for him to even threaten. In her current state however, there was no logic in her thinking, no hesitation in order to piece the puzzle together. She should, but she couldn’t. She just knew that obviously this guardian had to be the root of all her problems. This was it, she would get him to stop and do him in. That way she could escape this hell hole and return in one piece to her own country. This was her mission, and she would complete it. How was she to know that this was her own fantasy that she was thinking in her mind. Running toward him, she attacked and was blocked, rolling back and gritting her teeth, ready to attack once more.
“I know your name because we’re…friends. But you obviously don’t remember.”
That forced her back and to standing position. He claimed that they were friends. How could they be friends when she had no recollection of him in her mind in that light? She had no idea, but it was enough to make her draw up and stare at him, blue depth of her eyes reflecting her confusion. What could she make of this? Staring at him, Kirtana felt something within her warn her that this man was who he said he was. That he was a friend, someone she knew, someone she could trust. The grip on her sword loosened until she was simply staring at him, unsure of what to do, or where to go from here. What…what should she do? He said he was a friend, but-…then it hit her. He obviously must just be trying to take her off guard. By getting her off guard he got her off balance. Tightening her grip on her sword, Kirtana crouched again, staring up at him. “I don’t believe your lies.”
Jumping at him, Kirtana went to attack, determined that this man was the enemy. How could she do anything but try to take him down? He was the enemy, he had to be put down. She had to put him down. It was up to her. Her country relied on her, this was her mission, she could do nothing but this. Not in her right mind and physically weakened from the sickness raging through her body, Kirtana felt almost sluggish, with the burning still tearing at her body. Still, she had a goal in mind. She would accomplish her mission and her country would live another day. What she didn’t account for was how powerful the guardian really was. She knew he must have physical strength, as he was huge, but cunning, she didn’t think as much. Yet in one moment she had a firm grip on her sword as she jumped to attack him, and the next he had almost effortlessly disarmed her. Falling to her knee, Kirtana propped herself up with her hands and quivered as the fever raged, gasping for breath, spent from her efforts. Yet determination was still strong within her body. Lifting her pretty face, drawn from her sickness, she knelt, seeing her weapon in his hand, and a vision of the man from her first mission flashed through her mind. She was ready for the death he would bring, staring at him through pain dulled eyes, before closing them and tilting her head back, waiting for death.
“I’m not going to hurt you.” Blue eyes slowly opened. Tilting her eyes back toward him, Kirtana blinked, body still quivering. Finally her eyes found the mans figure. He stood with his greatsword pointed at her, yet he told her he wasn’t going to harm her. Tired eyes simply stared at him, unsure of what was going on, or what to say. Why wasn’t he going to harm her? Instead of saying anything, Kirtana forced herself to nod, yet her eyes never left him. The crazy appearance was leaving her eyes, replaced with more of a dull look. He…had said he was her friend. Was he? Who was he? Why did he look so familiar? Moving her body slightly, Kirtana coughed and looked back up at him slowly. Would he harm her? Or wouldn’t he? Somehow, she believed the words he said. He wasn’t going to harm her. “I…I know.” Coughing after she spoke, Kirtana’s head dipped once more, chin resting on her chest, shoulders slightly hunched. Dizziness swept over her quickly then, making her feel sick to her stomach. Unable to see perfectly, Kirtana lifted her head to look at him, opening her mouth to try and speak to him, to say something, thank him for not hurting her, and as she did so, Kirtana tried to rise to her feet. Just as quickly her knees buckled and she fell back down to the ground in a heap, eyes starting to glaze over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 1098 Muse:; Great! Post by Gladiolus (Scar) Cicatrix on Apr 5, 2012 12:50:42 GMT -5
This was completely ridiculous, but Gladiolus fit the pieces together. He may have been a lot of brawn, but he was far from stupid, he was quite intelligent actually, despite what someone like maybe Ignis would say these days due to his choices in women, but hey, not everyone could be as super smart as some people apparently. Oh well, that wasn’t the subject right now. Right now, Kirtana was on the brink of insanity in Glady’s eyes, still, he blamed the bite that had occurred. Had he paid a little more attention, then perhaps she wouldn’t have gotten attacked? Well, he couldn’t put all of that blame on his shoulders, the last thing he needed was to bear another burden that wasn’t even his fault. He was already feeling bad about things lately, like the crap with Ignis, other things he shouldn’t be more or less moping over, but this….this was simply the icing on top of the cake! Feeling a small scowl form on his lips, he was in no mood to deal with an insane moment of déjà vu and try to keep the obviously weakened blonde dragoon from killing him, just as he had done awhile back.
His lies, of course they were lies in her eyes. Not wanting to deal with it much longer, Gladiolus shifted back a bit, waiting for her next attack, and he knew it would be coming shortly, just by watching her stance and after seeing her fight a few times, he’d picked up on it. With a dragoon you had to keep an extra eye out, they could leap at fast rates, so you needed to definitely stay on your toes, but seeing as Kirtana was weakened as it was, it was pretty easy to disarm her, getting her weapon away from her and into his hands as she tried to attack Glady and of course in the end, failed. Shifting from a defensive stance to a rather normal one, not ready to attack or anything, he watched as Kirtana sort of…sunk to the ground, his muscles could relax a bit, he knew she wouldn’t try to attack him now without a weapon, that would be a suicide move had this been circumstances like before, but fortunately for Kirtana, Gladiolus wasn’t going to hurt her, he never would hurt her, at least he’d never want to.
Sighing quietly as she finally took in his words, knowing he wouldn’t hurt her, Gladiolus pulled his sword back and let it dematerialize from his hand, holding her weapon in his other hand. He took a step forward towards her as she was trying to get to her feet, her knees had buckled from there, and he could tell that this wasn’t going to be good. Stabbing her weapon into the ground and letting it stand there while he went to aid Kirtana, he kneeled down to one knee and tried to look her over. Her glazed look was concerning, and not to mention the heat that was radiating off of her body, like a horrible fever or something like that. Frowning and letting his eyebrows furrow as well as he gazed at her face, he sighed quietly. “We gotta get you some help…this is getting worse by the minute.” That was mostly spoken to himself, but to her as well since she was right in front of him. Glancing over his shoulder back at her weapon, he gazed past it in the direction they had been heading. He wasn’t sure how far away this Baron was, or how far away Mist was from here since they’d been walking…but going back now would simply waste time. He’d get her to the next town and figure things out then.
“I’m going to get you to the nearest town.” Gladiolus spoke before moving his arms and putting his shoulder down towards Kirtana’s stomach, rising to his feet and resting her against and over his shoulder, he knew it probably wasn’t the most comfortable position to be laying in, but with as much pain as she probably was in, she probably wasn’t going to object, besides, he didn’t have a million hands to be able to carry everything and deal with whatever came their way. If something out of the blue came and attacked them, he wanted at least one free hand to defend not only himself, but the woman he wanted to save. Walking over and grabbing Kirtana’s sword weapon, Glady made sure to keep one hand against her leg to keep her balanced instead of risking her sliding off of his shoulder. Once he was all situated, holding the weapon in one hand and balancing Kirtana with the other, he was just ready to get moving, though he wasn’t going to run or anything, he wasn’t a pack mule, and even though he was strong, he wasn’t going to make the travel even more difficult for Kirtana than it already was.
If only he knew where he was going, what was wrong…and how to fix it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 959 Muse: Great! After crumpling back to the ground, Kirtana’s eyes glazed over and her body started to shake lightly as the fever swept through her body. Every inch of her burned, her thoughts going insane as she tried to separate fantasy from reality. She could feel him come close to her. Part of her felt still that he would run her through with a sword and leave it at that. Another part of her, the part struggling to regain her sanity and her real self, argued that he would do no such thing. She didn’t know what to believe, but if he had wanted to kill her, he could have already done so. Why hadn’t he done so if he had wanted to? Obviously he must not want to harm her, but…then why was he still here? If he wasn’t going to hurt her, then why didn’t he just leave her to her misery? She could survive, get better and go home, go back to-…where was home? Mixed up thoughts didn’t give her any idea of where home was. And then in the back of her head a voice spoke up, this guardians voice. ’You belong with me.’
Did she belong with him? Through unsteady eyes, she turned her head slightly to look as he knelt over her. Blinking, she said nothing, but tried to fight through. A determined woman, she knew this wasn’t right. She wasn’t supposed to be like this, something was wrong, terribly wrong, but she didn’t know what or how to fix it. Coughing took over her body before she lay still again, waiting for him to do something. Anything. Somehow she knew she had relied on him before, and she would do so now. Somehow, for some reason he was going to protect her. ’You belong with me.’ Did she belong anywhere? What was she? Who was she? Who was he? What was he to her? That voice, that one line popped up in her head over and over again, haunting her. It would continue to haunt her, but Kirtana was too weak to question it. She needed sleep…and a drink. With that, she would be fine. Or would she? It felt like something bigger was happening, but she had no idea what, or what she could do about it.
His touch didn’t make her move away in the slightest, but kept watching him through pain dulled eyes, waiting. She could do nothing to either fight him or help him. Her limbs felt heavy, like a large weight had been strapped onto them. When he picked her up something made her hackles rise and she pushed slightly, trying to get out of his grasp to stand on her own two feet. Even now, in this state, she didn’t want to have anyone help her. Didn’t feel like anyone should be helping her. At the word help though, Kirtana relaxed and stopped her feeble attempt at escape and did nothing as she was picked up and placed over his shoulder. Lying face down against him, she turned her head to the side and pushed against his back, kicking her feet slightly in another small attempt to get him to set her down. He might be helping her, but she could walk on her own two feet! “I…I…..can walk.” Shuddering as she spoke, Kirtana couldn’t quite get a good breath in her lungs and finally closed them and slumped against him, spent from her efforts.
Vaguely she heard him say that he was going to get her to a town. “Leav-…me. I’m no-…-orth it.” Words came very quietly as she started to fade in and out of consciousness. Finally slumping against him completely, Kirtana’s eyes lolled back and she shook some more. “Glad-..iolu-…ss..” Muttering that out, she moaned and burned up, body trying to fight off the disease she had obtained. For a moment no sound came from her aside from the ragged breathing, before once more she moaned his name. “Gladi-…ol-…uss……pl-…ease.” Out of her head with the fever, Kirtana called to the one person she had come to rely on, come to have feelings for. The one person who knew what she was and accepted her completely despite it. “…C-…ooome fff-…or me.” A slight whimper escaped her lips. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words:; 943 Muse:; Great! The day seemed kind of gloomy as a whole, visiting Rydia’s mother’s grave, explaining her focus…well, at least what being a L’Cie was, Rydia would NEVER tell the wife of the man she was supposed to kill what her focus was. After all of this, Rydia figured she’d head back to Eblan for a bit, Edge had sort of convinced her to stay there for the time being, but there was no way she was going to sit out on the one year anniversary of her mother’s death. He could’ve complained as much as he wanted, but no matter how dark things looked for herself, Rydia would always be able to deflate the Ninja King and go do what she wanted, no matter what he said or did, and luckily for this, there was no protest. The day hadn’t taken very long, just a bit of talking to begin with, and once out to the gravesite, Rydia had placed her flowers down, sat in front of the stone and had a small heart to heart with her mother, even if her mother wasn’t actually there to respond, she could just hear the voice of her mom, telling her what path to choose and that she’d be okay…all the things she would’ve said if given the chance.
After visiting the grave, it was back to Baron both of the girls went. From there, Rydia was having a tough time deciding if she’d say a brief hello to Cecil or not, but at the way things were looking she was handling things far too well for this kind of situation. Walking aimlessly, well, not really aimlessly, but in the general direction of Baron from the town of Mist, Rydia kept her eyes peeled for anything, just to make sure they didn’t get ambushed. She wasn’t concerned about herself, after all if something did happen to her it wasn’t like it’d be that bad compared to what could happen to her in the future. With a small huff of a breath that that thought, Rydia folded her arms across her chest and just walked in silence, still thinking about everything that had happened today, how everything would play out and wondering why no more questions had really come from Rosa about that L’Cie thing. Well at least she understood and didn’t pry, otherwise Rydia would’ve felt the pressure and surely would’ve cracked as easily as an egg shell.
With arms still folded across her chest, Rydia gazed ahead and saw something. It wasn’t something she expected to see along the road to Baron, but it didn’t look good. Like someone was in trouble. There was a large dark haired man shifting around a smaller figure, a blonde, and she didn’t look too well. Of course from a distance it could look bad, but slowing her pace for a moment, Rydia frowned, furrowing her eyebrows as she glanced over her shoulder at Rosa. She was one of the best white mages around, better than Rydia since she was so prone to black magic and summons these days, so if something was wrong…who better to help? “I think something’s wrong ahead.” Rydia called before starting off again and picking up her pace, squinting to get a better look as the larger man picked up the woman and gently put her over his shoulder before retrieving a weapon that had been struck into the ground. Something was obviously wrong. The worried look on the man’s face had given it away, and the state of the blonde was easy to tell she was ill. Something Rydia hadn’t seen before, perhaps just a fever or something along those lines, but whatever it was, she could tell that these people weren’t from around here…and they looked like they could use a helping hand. What better way to distract yourself?
“Come on, Rosa.” Rydia commented once more before she broke into a slight jog, but not too fast for Rosa seeing as the woman was pregnant and all, but that didn’t disable her from running or something like that, but still, putting too much strain on her would be bad. “Hey! Heeeey! Big guy!” Rydia called ahead, watching as the foreigner had stopped and gazed over his shoulder cautiously. Hopefully he’d be okay with the idea of two complete strangers helping out, because…well Rydia was far too nice to walk away and pretend she hadn’t seen anything now, hopefully Rosa would feel the same way. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 863 Muse: Pretty good!
